CHILDREN: 'Twas the day of the night

a blanket of snow
Last-minute shoppers,
like magic grasshoppers

in each front yard
Every shop window
was beautifully trimmed so

sky before sunset

on the windowpanes

the town was the pinkest
Of peppermint candy canes
