[cheering]
I saw a sign or an omen
On the branches
in the morning
It was right after I
Lost a friend
without warning
Words unsaid
Scarlet red
Cardinal
Are you bringing me a
message from the other side?
Cardinal
Are you telling me
I'm on somebody's mind?
Don't leave me
Behind
I took a walk in the city
To clear my head
for a moment
Turned my collar to the wind
On the street,
it was blowing
And there he was
Above my head
Cardinal
Are you bringing me a
message from the other side?
Cardinal
Are you telling me
I'm on somebody's mind?
Don't leave me
Behind
Are you just watching
and waiting for spring?
Or do you have some kind
of magic to bring?
Are you just watching
and waiting for spring?
Or do you have some kind
of magic to bring?
Are you just watching
and waiting for spring?
Or do you have
some kind of magic?
[cheering]
Cardinal
Are you bringing me a
message from the other side?
Cardinal
Are you telling me
I'm on somebody's mind?
Cardinal
Are you bringing me a message
from the other side?
Cardinal
Are you telling me
I'm on somebody's mind?
Are you bringing me a message
from the other side?
Cardinal
[cheering]
[cheering]
[cheering continues]
[cheering]
[cheering intensifies]
I was just coastin',
never really goin' anywhere
Caught up in a web
I was gettin' kinda
used to stayin' there
And out of the blue
I fell for you
Now, you're lifting me up
'stead of holding me down
Stealing my heart 'stead
of stealing my crown
Untangled all the strings
'round my wings that were tied
I didn't know him
and I didn't know me
Cloud Nine was
always out of reach
Now, I remember what
it feels like to fly
You give me butterflies
Kiss full of color
makes me wonder
Where you've always been
I was hiding in doubt
'til you brought me out
Of my chrysalis
And I came out new
All because of you
And now, you're lifting me up
'stead of holding me down
Stealing my heart 'stead
of stealing my crown
Untangled all the strings
'round my wings that were tied
I didn't know him
and I didn't know me
Cloud Nine was
always out of reach
Now, I remember
what it feels like to fly
Yeah
You give me butterflies
Ooh, mm, mm
Yeah
Now, you're lifting me up
'stead of holding me down
You're taking my hand
'stead of taking my crown
Untangled all the strings
'round my wings that were tied
I didn't know him
and I didn't know me
Cloud Nine was
always out of reach
Now, I remember what
it feels like to fly
You give me butterflies
You give me butterflies
Oh oh oh
Mm mm
[cheering]
[cheering intensifies]
Oh my gosh, Seattle!
[cheering]
[cheering continues]
Wow!
I haven't even done anything!
[cheering]
Okay, wow, holy shit!
Um...
Okay, that was...
that was an amazing welcome.
-[cheering]
-Hi! Welcome!
Welcome to the "Deeper Well
World Tour" Seattle edition.
[cheering]
A very, very sold out Seattle
edition, I might add.
Thank you very much!
[cheering]
Also, we are streaming this
live to people in their homes.
[cheering]
It's going out live.
So, um, do not
fuck this up for me.
[laughing]
My grandparents are
at home watching,
sorry in advance
for the curse words.
I do that when I'm excited.
Can't help it.
Um, I obviously hello here.
Hello on the sides.
Hello up top.
Hello on the back.
Hello!
I've seen a lot of
concerts from up there.
And let me tell you,
that's where all
the weird shit happens.
That's the fun zone.
I see you.
We are going to have an
amazing time together tonight.
You guys, we are
existing at the same time.
[cheering]
Crazy.
And that is a beautiful gift.
I do not take it lightly.
Every single person
in this room matters.
Even if I
can't physically see you,
you are contributing to the
energy in this room tonight.
And I'm so grateful
to be here.
This is going to
be an amazing time.
I can already tell.
Okay.
Shall we?
When the wind blows
It can push you around,
it can shake you
Maybe you can show me
'cause it seems like
You know how to
not let it faze you
If I didn't wanna
take control
I could let go
Maybe one day
I'll learn how to sway
Most of the time
All the thoughts in
my mind keep me runnin'
Show me a place where
I can just think of nothin'
If I surrender,
if I let go
Will you hold me?
Let's sway.
Maybe one day
I'll learn how to sway
Like a palm tree in the wind
I won't break,
I'll just bend
And I'll sway
I'll sway
Ah-ah
Ah ahh ahh
I'll sway
Yeah, oh yeah
Like a palm tree in the wind
I won't break,
I'll just bend
And I'll sway
I'll sway
[cheering]
Ah-ah
I'll sway
Yeah, oh yeah
Ah-ah
I'll sway
Yeah, oh yeah
[cheering]
[cheering]
This next song,
it's, um...
it's about opening
yourself back up again
after you've really had your
heart broken,
and just how hard that is,
and you're like, oh my God,
sometimes I've hurt
so bad of love,
I'm never gonna do this again.
And then you meet someone else,
and they kinda open you
back up again,
and you're like, okay,
here I go,
and you're just really
hoping that
that person is as wonderful as
you think they're gonna be.
Made some breakfast,
made some love
This is what
dreams are made of
On a cloudy
Monday morning
Summer's gone and
you're still here
For both of us,
it's been a year
A tidal wave
without a warning
Please don't make me regret
Openin' up that
part of myself
That I've been
scared to give again
Be good to me and
I'll be good to you
But please don't be
too good to be true
In my mind,
we're in New York
You had never been before
But, baby, now it's our town
I'll admit that I'm in deep
But I don't know
how else to be
And I don't wanna slow down
Please don't make me regret
Openin' up that
part of myself
That I've been
scared to give again
Be good to me and
I'll be good to you
But please don't be
too good to be true
[cheering]
Oh, mm
Ooh, mm
Made some breakfast,
made some love
If this is what
dreams are made of
Please don't wake me
[cheering]
All that I know
Is you caught me
at the right time
Keep me in your glow
'Cause I'm having
such a good time
With you
Baby, don't you know?
That you're my golden hour
The color of my sky
You've set my world on fire
And I know, I know
everything's gonna be alright
I used to get sad
And lonely when
the sun went down
But it's different now
'Cause I love the light
that I've found
In you
Baby, don't you know?
AUDIENCE:
That you're my golden hour
The color of my sky
You've set my world on fire
And I know, I know
Everything's gonna
be alright
You make the world
look beautiful, ooh
I thought I'd seen
it all before
But looking through
your eyes
It feels like paradise, yeah
You've set my world
on fire
Yeah
And I know, I know
everything's gonna be alright
You're my golden hour
The watercolor sky
You've set my world on fire
And I know, I know
everything's gonna be alright
Yeah, I know, I know
everything's gonna be alright
Golden hour
Oh, golden hour
[cheering]
So, sometimes you're
feeling a couple
different emotions
at the same time,
and it's hard
to pinpoint what to call that.
So...
It's not you
It's the glow of the party
The way that
you've got me
Lit up inside
It's the song
that they're playin'
The words that you're sayin'
It's never felt so right
And I'm the kind of person who
starts getting kinda nervous
When I'm having
the time of my life
Is there a word for the way
that I'm feeling tonight?
Happy and sad
at the same time
You got me smiling
with tears in my eyes
I never felt so high
No, I've never been this
far off of the ground
And they say everything
that goes up
Must come down
But I don't wanna come down
So is there a way
To stop all this thinkin'
Just keep on drinkin'?
'Cause I don't wanna wake up
When they're
turnin' the lights on
And it turns out
the joke's on me
'Cause it feels so right
And I'm the kind of person who
starts getting kinda nervous
When I'm having
the time of my life
Is there a word for the way
that I'm feeling tonight?
What's it called?
AUDIENCE: Happy and sad
at the same time
You got me smilin'
with tears in my eyes
I never felt so high
No, I've never been this
far off of the ground
And they say everything
that goes up
Must come down
But I don't wanna come down
I don't mind at all,
no, I'm used to fallin'
I'm comfortable when
the sky is gray
But when everything
is perfect, I start hidin'
'Cause I know that rain
is comin' my way
My way
'Cause I'm happy and
sad at the same time
You got me smilin'
with tears in my eyes
I never felt so high
No, I've never been
this far off of the ground
And they say
everything that goes up
Goes up must come down
And I don't wanna come down
No, I don't wanna come down
Oh, no
[cheering]
It's a lo-, it's a lo-,
it's a lonely weekend
It's a lo-, it's a lo-,
It's a lonely
feelin' without you
Monday, I was gone, and
Tuesday, you were
working late
Then Wednesday went to hell
And Thursday kinda
had to wait
Yeah
Friday, you were leavin',
goin' out of town again
I should see what's goin' on,
only got a couple friends
It's a lo-, it's a lo-,
It's a lonely weekend
It's a lo-, it's a lo-
It's a lonely feelin'
without you
I guess everybody else
is out tonight
Guess I'm hangin' by myself,
but I don't mind
It's a lo-, it's a lo-
It's a lonely weekend, yeah
I got a million
things to do
But I haven't
done a single one, no
And if my sister
lived in town
I know that we'd be
doin' something fun
Like shopping or crafts.
I keep lookin' at my
phone, puttin' it back down
There's a little part of me
That's got the fear
of missin' out, and
It's a lo-, it's a lo-
It's a lonely weekend
It's a lo-, it's a lo-
It's a lonely feelin'
without you
I guess everybody else
is out tonight
Guess I'm hangin' by myself,
but I don't mind
It's a lo-, it's a lo-,
It's a lonely weekend, yeah
Ooh
Even if you got
somebody on your mind
Ooh
It's alright to
be alone sometimes
Sometimes
It's a lo-, it's a lo-
It's a lonely weekend
Not here, though.
It's a lo-, it's a lo-
It's a lonely feelin'
without you
I guess everybody else
is out tonight
Guess I'm hangin' by myself,
but I don't mind
It's a lo-, it's a lo-
It's a lonely weekend
It's a lo-, it's a lo-
It's a lonely weekend
[cheering]
You can step off a
plane into a black car
You can pay 'em to wait
You can wear a
gold watch on your wrist
But it won't give you
back the moments you miss
When I get paid,
I wanna spend it on you
Baby, that's what it's for
I'd burn it all
to keep you warm
Who wants to be
a lonely millionaire?
Comin' home,
ain't no one there
That you can talk to
in your king-size bed
Be careful what you wish for,
I see it all the time
The money and the diamonds
and the things that shine
Can't buy you
true happiness
But get you damn close, though.
La, la, la, la,
la, la, la, la
La, la, la, la
La, la, la, la,
la, la, la, la
La, la, la, la
All I want,
all I want
All I want is you
All I want,
all I want
All I want is you
[cheering]
Oh, mm
Be careful what you wish for,
I see it all the time
The money and the diamonds
and the things that shine
Can't buy you true happiness
Come on!
La, la, la, la,
la, la, la, la
La, la, la, la
Let me hear ya.
La la la la
Let me hear you at home.
One more time.
La, la, la, la,
la, la, la, la
La, la, la, la
Last round, your turn.
La, la, la, la,
la, la, la, la
La, la, la, la
Let me hear you in
the back, ready?
La, la, la...
AUDIENCE:
La, la, la, la
La, la, la, la
-[cheering]
-Okay!
So we're over here now.
[cheering]
I had to put my
wellies on and make
the arduous mossy trip
to the B-stage.
Just wanted to be a little bit
closer to you guys back here.
[cheering]
I've always loved coming
to Seattle, by the way.
-[cheering]
-It's so fun.
I've been coming here
a long time, and, uh...
Your evergy is amazing,
and it also tells me there's
a lot of people in this room
that have been with me
since day one.
[cheering]
On all the twists and
turns of the journey.
And thank you so much for
going on this journey with me
as I just explore what
feeds me creatively,
and you guys, you come along
and sometimes bring
other new people
and... I don't know.
I just love it.
I'm thankful for that.
But... I'm gonna go back in
time just a little bit to 2012.
[cheering]
In 2012, I was making some
really terrible hair choices.
Some really, really
questionable boyfriend choices.
And I was also writing
songs that
I was being told they
were going to go down in flames.
And, um...
I was like, I really want
to put this song on my record.
And for many reason,
I was told
it wasn't going
to be a good idea
for a new country artists
to say these things,
and I just had to say
I think, you know,
to each their own,
of course, but
you know, if country music
is a genre that is
built on real stories
and real people,
then I don't know why
it can't evolve, too,
to include everyone, so...
[cheering]
I'm not doing
anything outlandish,
I'm just taking these things
that have inspired my real life
and I'm putting them
in my songs.
I'm just doing my job
as a songwriter, and, um,
maybe the song got banned
by country radio,
and it may have gotten
censored on the CMAs,
but the love that you have
brought me
with this early song means
more to me than any of that.
So, let's sing it rtogether.
[cheering]
If you save yourself
for marriage, you're a bore
If you don't save
yourself for marriage
You're a horrible person
If you won't have a drink,
then you're a prude
But they'll call
you a drunk
As soon as you
down the first one
If you can't lose the weight,
then you're just fat
But if you lose too much,
then you're on crack
You're damned if you do and
you're damned if you don't
So, you might as well
just do whatever you want
[cheering]
So make lots of noise
Kiss lots of boys
Or kiss lots of girls, if
that's somethin' you're into
When the straight and narrow
gets a little too straight
Roll up a joint
And follow your arrow
wherever it points, yeah
Follow your arrow
wherever it points
Yeah
[whistling]
If you don't go to church,
you'll go to Hell
If you're the first one
on the front row,
You're a self-righteous
son of a
Can't win for losin',
you'll just disappoint 'em
Just 'cause you
can't beat 'em
Don't mean you
should join 'em
So make lots of noise
Kiss lots of boys
Or kiss lots of girls, if
that's somethin' you're into
When the straight and narrow
gets a little too straight
Roll up a joint
And follow your arrow
wherever it points, yeah
Follow your arrow
wherever it points
Just say what you think
And love who you love
'Cause you just get so
many trips around the sun
Yeah, you only
You only live once
Yeah
[whistling]
So make lots of noise
Kiss lots of boys
Or kiss lots of girls,
if that's what you're into
When the straight and narrow
gets a little too straight
Roll up a joint
AUDIENCE:
I would
And follow your arrow
wherever it points, yeah
Follow your
arrow wherever
Wherever it points
[cheering]
We spent all day where
the north wind blows
And you bought me
a lavender rose
Put it in water
when we got home
That's what heaven is
No tears to cry
and nothing to mourn
Wearin' your shirt,
so tattered and torn
Lyin' in your arms,
so safe and warm
That's what heaven is
I don't care for
money or fame
All for you,
I'd give it away
The way you sound
when you call my name
That's what heaven is
Nobody knows where
we go when we die
Maybe we'll ride
white horses in the sky
And if we don't then,
darling, tonight
That's what heaven is
If all I have is
the light in your eyes
That's what heaven is
[cheering]
Thank you.
Well, I don't know about
you here in Seattle,
but I've got some crazy family
members down in Texas.
[cheering]
None that are watching
this live broadcast.
It's not you.
It's not you guys.
It's the other ones.
But this one, this next song,
I'm going to throw it
back again, way back.
[cheering]
I'm feeling a little bit
of yee-haw energy
from this crowd tonight.
[cheering]
So...
So you asked for it.
So anyways, so
this one is from,
it's about my crazy family,
and it goes out to all
the crazies in yours. Okay?
[cheering]
They're there for
your first year
They give you
your first beer
When you get
your heart broke
They're there
for your worst year
Don't get you at all
But your apple don't
fall too far from 'em
They own too much wicker
and drink too much liquor
You'd wash your hands of them,
but blood's always thicker
You might look
just like 'em
That don't mean
you're like 'em
But you love 'em
Family is family,
in church or in prison
You get what you get, and
you don't get to pick 'em
They might smoke
like chimneys
But give you their kidneys
Yeah, friends come in handy,
but family is family
Yeah
[cheering]
They're there when
you're married
Divorced and remarried
You fall out of touch,
but then someone gets buried
And you're right
back together
Like no time
has ever gone by
I feel that verse.
Can't live with
or without 'em
You might talk about 'em
But if someone
else does, well
You'll knock 'em
out 'cause
When it's all said and done
They're the only ones
that you got
Family is family,
in church or in prison
You get what you get, and
you don't get to pick 'em
They might smoke
like chimneys
But give you their kidneys
Friends come in handy,
but family is family
All right
Yeah, family is funny,
they'll ask you for money
Even though they know
you ain't got no money
They show up at Christmas,
get up in your business
They might not be fancy,
but family is family
And we love 'em anyways.
Yeah, you might look
just like 'em
That don't mean
you're like 'em
But you love 'em
[cheering]
Thank you.
Yeah, if we didn't have
any crazy family,
who would we talk
about in therapy?
It's true.
Who would we write songs about?
You guys having
a good time so far?
[cheering]
Awesome.
I had a really
lovely day myself.
The weather here.
Chef's kiss. What?
Oh, hello Fall.
Hello, Autumn.
Autumn's moving in.
Newsflash.
Oh, that was a "Deeper Well"
lyrical reference
from a deep cut in case
you didn't notice.
No, I like did the most
touristy things
like went walk down the the pier
and like the the market.
No, the market.
The fisherman's market.
That that's what I did.
All the flowers,
all the things,
the sights, the smells.
It's really cute.
So, um, I...
I do have a really serious
question though, and that is
what is a pirate's favorite
song from "Deeper Well?"
It's... it's... I know.
You'd never guess.
It's "The Arrrr-chitect."
I hate myself. Thanks.
[cheering]
I hate myself.
Even something as
small as an apple
It's simple and
somehow complex
Sweet and divine,
the perfect design
Can I speak
to the architect?
There's a canyon that cuts
through the desert
Did it get there
because of a flood?
Was it devised or
were you surprised
When you saw
how grand it was?
Was it thought out at all
or just paint on a wall?
Is there anything
that you regret?
I don't understand, are
there blueprints or plans?
Can I speak
to the architect?
Sometimes I look
in the mirror
And wish I could
make a request
Could I pray it away?
Am I shapeable clay?
Or is this as
good as it gets?
One day, you're on
top of the mountain
So high that
you'll never come down
Then the wind at your back
carries ember and ash
And burns your whole house
to the ground
Is it thought out at all
or just paint on a wall?
Is there anything
that you regret?
I don't understand, are
there blueprints or plans?
Can I speak
to the architect?
Ohh
Ohh mmm
Ohh oh oh
Ohh
I thought that
I was too broken
And maybe too hard to love
I was in a weird place,
then I saw the right face
And the stars and
the planets lined up
Does it happen by chance?
Is it all happenstance?
Do we have any
say in this mess?
Is it too late to
make some more space?
Can I speak
to the architect?
This life that we make,
is it random or fate?
Can I speak
to the architect?
Is there an architect?
[cheering]
Well, I just want to say
how absolutely fantastic
both Father John Misty
and both Nickel Creek are.
I love them so much.
[cheering]
And it's been
a really fun tour.
I think this is our
eighth show, right?
I think, maybe, eight,
something?
I'm not, who's counting.
But it has been
such a joy to have
both of those artists here
and I just honestly
I wanted to approach this tour
like creating a
little mini festival
that I would personally
really want to come see.
So I am fans of both
and I would actually
really love
to bring out Nickel Creek
right now, come on, guys.
[cheering]
Hey! Yeah!
Show them some love!
[cheering]
We've got Chris, Sarah,
and Sean here.
-Hello, guys.
-Hello, Kacey!
How are you feeling?
-Great.
-So good. What a show.
Oh my gosh, right?
Seattle.
Bringing the energy.
Yeah. Yeah, seriously.
Well, you guys we did prepare
a little ditty for you.
It's honestly it's a
wholesome little murder ballad
and Seattle, it seems
like maybe you guys
like murder ballads here.
I don't know.
[cheering]
It's a murderous tale
that goes way back.
Shall we do it?
Shall we?
I'm still a fan even
though I was salty
Hate to see you with some
other broad, know your happy
Hate to see you happy
if I'm not the one drivin'
I'm so mature,
I'm so mature
I'm so mature,
I got me a therapist
To tell me
there's other men
I don't want none,
I just want you
If I can't have you,
no one should
I might
I might kill my ex
Not the best idea
His new girlfriend's next
How'd I get here?
I might kill my ex
I still love him though
Rather be in jail
than alone
I get the sense that
it's a lost cause
I get the sense that
you might really love her
This text gon' be evidence,
this text is evidence
I tried to ration with you
No murders or crime
of passion, but damn
You was out of reach
You was at the farmer's market
with your perfect peach
Now I'm in the basement
plannin' home invasion
Now you layin' face-down,
got me singin' over a beat
I'm so mature, I'm so mature
I'm so mature,
I got me a therapist
To tell me there's other men
I don't want none,
I just want you
If I can't have you,
no one will
I might
I might kill my ex
Not the best idea
His new girlfriend's next
How'd I get here?
I might kill my ex
I still love him though
Rather be in jail
than alone
-I did it all for love
-I did it all for love
I did it all on no drugs
-No drugs
I did all of this sober
I did it all for us, oh
-I did it all for love
-I did it all for love
I did all of this
on no drugs
I did all of this sober
Don't you know I did
it all for us?
Oh, I just killed my ex
Not the best idea
Killed his girlfriend
next, how'd I get here?
I just killed my ex
I still love him though
I'd rather be in Hell
than alone
[cheering]
[cheering]
[cheering]
[cheering]
I wanna bathe
in the moonlight
Until I'm fully charged
Come into my power
And heal the broken parts
That I carry
Oh
Like the bracelet
that you bought me
I want you on my arm
Calm, cool and protective
And keeping me from harm
Jade green
Jade green
I always keep it on me
Always keep it on me
I can't help it,
I get anxious
And every time we part
I say a little prayer
To drive away the dark
And I'm with you
And you're with me
Like the bracelet
that you gave me
Come on!
AUDIENCE:
Jade
Green
Jade green
I always keep it on me
Always keep it on me
On me
On me
On me, yeah
Oh
[cheering]
[cheering]
[cheering]
Born in a hurry,
always late
Haven't been early
since '88
Texas is hot, I can be cold
Grandma cried when
I pierced my nose
Good in a glass,
good on green
Good when you're puttin'
your hands all over me
I'm alright
with a slow burn
Taking my time,
let the world turn
I'm gonna do it my way,
it'll be alright
If we burn it down and
it takes all night
It's a slow burn, yeah
In Tennessee,
the sun's goin' down
But in Beijing,
they're headin' out to work
You know the bar down
the street
Don't close for an hour
We should take a walk and
look at all the flowers
'Cause I'm alright
with a slow burn
Taking my time,
let the world turn
I'm gonna do it my way,
it'll be alright
If we burn it down and
it takes all night
It's a slow burn
Oh, whatever feels good
All right.
Ah ah ah
Ah ah ah
Ah ah ah
Ah ah ah
Oh
Old soul, waitin' my turn
I know a few things, but
I still got a lot to learn
So I'm alright
with a slow burn
Slow burn
Slow burn
[cheering]
You look out the window
While I look at you
Saying I don't know
Would be like saying
that the sky ain't blue
And boots weren't made
for sitting by the door
If you don't
wanna stay anymore
You can have your
space, cowboy
I ain't gonna fence you in
Go on, ride away
in your Silverado
I'll see you 'round again
I know my place,
and it ain't with you
Sunsets fade,
and love does, too
Yeah, we had our
day in the sun
When a horse wants to run
Ain't no sense
in closing the gate
You can have your space
Cowboy
Guess after the gold rush
There ain't no
reason to stay
I shoulda learned
from the movies
Good guys don't run away
But roads weren't
made to not go down
And there ain't room for
both of us in this town
So you can have
your space, cowboy
I ain't gonna fence you in
Go on, ride away
in your Silverado
I'll see you around again
But I know my place,
and it ain't with you
Sunsets fade,
and love does, too
We had our day in the sun
When a horse wants to run
Ain't no sense in
closing the gate
You can have your space
You can have your
space, cowboy
I ain't gonna fence you in
Go on, ride away
in your Silverado
I'll see you around again
'Cause I know my place,
and it ain't with you
Sunsets fade,
and love does, too
Though we had
our day in the sun
When a horse wants to run
Ain't no sense
in closing the gate
You can have your space
Yeah, you can
have your space
You can have your space
Cowboy
[cheering]
That was beautiful,
y'all, thank you.
It was a fun, strange summer
I rolled on,
didn't think of you
We lost touch
with each other
Fall came and I had to move
Movin' backwards,
hurt comes after
Healin' doesn't
happen in a straight line
If I cry just a little
And then laugh
in the middle
If I hate you
and I love you
And then I change my mind
If I need just a little
More time to deal
with the fact
That you shoulda
treated me right
I'm more than just
a little justified
Oh oh
Oh oh
I'm more than just
a little justified
To touch somebody
You know I tried
to make that you
And when you lied,
said you didn't want me
Tell me, what was
I supposed to do?
Movin' onwards,
feelin' strong, but
Healin' doesn't happen
in a straight line
If I cry just a little
And then laugh in the middle
If I hate you
and I love you
And then I change my mind
If I need just a little
More time to deal
with the fact
That you shoulda
treated me right
I'm more than just
a little justified
Oh oh
Oh oh
I'm more than just
a little justified
If I die just a little,
inside just a little
If I want you and I call you
Then I change my mind
If I need just a little
More time to deal
with the fact
That I coulda
treated you right
I'm more than just a little
Justified
If I hate you
and I love you
And then I change my mind
If I need just a little
More time to deal
with the fact
That you shoulda
treated me right
I'm more than
just a little justified
Oh oh
Oh oh
I'm more than just
a little justified
[cheering]
[cheering intensifies]
I know you wanted
me to stay
But I can't ignore the
crazy visions of me in LA
I heard that
there's a special place
Where boys and girls can all
be queens every single day
I'm having wicked dreams
Of leaving Tennessee
Hear Santa Monica
I swear it's calling me
Won't make my mama proud
It's gonna cause a scene
She sees her baby girl
I know she's gonna scream
God, what have you done?
You're a pink pony girl
And you dance at the club
Oh mama, I'm just having fun
On the stage in my heels
It's where I
belong down at the
Pink Pony Club
I'm gonna keep on dancing
at the Pink Pony Club
I'm gonna keep on dancing
down in West Hollywood
I'm gonna keep on dancing
At the Pink Pony Club
Pink Pony Club
Oh, oh shit!
[cheering]
Pink ponies!
High horses, where you at?
Oh, I bet you think
you're John Wayne
Showin' up and
shootin' down everybody
You're classic in
the wrong way
And we all know the
end of the story
'Cause everyone knows
someone who kills the buzz
Every time they open
up their mouth
Ain't gonna name names.
Yeah, everyone knows
someone who knows someone
Who thinks they're cooler
than everybody else
And I think we've
seen enough, seen enough
To know that you ain't
ever gonna come down
So, why don't you
giddy up, giddy up
And ride straight
out of this town?
You and your high horse
Mmm-mmm
You and your
high horse
Mmm-mmm
Oh, I bet you think
you're first place, yeah
Someone should give
you a ribbon
And put you in
the hall of fame
For all the games that you
think that you're winning
'Cause everyone knows
someone who kills the buzz
Every time they open
up their mouth
Yeah, everyone knows
someone who knows someone
Who thinks they're
cooler than everybody else
And I think we've
seen enough, seen enough
To know that you ain't
ever gonna come down
So, why don't you
giddy up, giddy up
And ride straight
out of this town?
You and your high horse
Mmm-mmm
You and your high horse
Mmm-mmm
Break it down, y'all.
Darlin', you take
the high horse
And I'll take the high road
Always do.
Oh
If you're too good
for us
You'll be good
riding solo
Come on!
Yeah, I think we've
seen enough, seen enough
To know that you ain't
ever gonna come down
So, why don't
you giddy up, giddy up
Uh-huh.
And ride straight
out of this town?
You and your high horse
Mmmm-mmm
You and your high horse
Mmm-mmm
Here we go.
[cheering]
Oh oh
Let's go, y'all!
You ain't ever
gonna come down
Oh oh
You ain't ever
gonna come down
Oh oh
You ain't ever
gonna come down
-[cheering]
-Yes!
We might not actually
be able to get down!
Woo! Shit!
[cheering]
Ha ha ha!
Oh my goodness!
A blizzard of
biodegradable confetti.
This is beautiful!
[cheering]
What an amazing night, right?
Wow!
[cheering]
We do have a couple
more songs left for you.
[cheering]
And then that's it, no encore.
I don't believe
in encores anymore.
Can I just declare encores
cancelled?
Can we just cancel them?
Because I think what's
cooler is just saying,
hey, we have
two more songs left,
and we're all going to be
as present as possible
during those last two songs.
And then I'm going to get
on the bus in my sweats,
I'm going to pour a
fat ass glass of wine,
and then I'm going to
get on Zillow,
like I shouldn't be.
I'm going to get on
Zillow, Seattle,
and see what's on there.
[cheering]
'Cause...
I'm walking around Seattle
today, like, am I moving here?
-[cheering]
-It's nice!
No, but really,
your energy has been
absolutely amazing tonight,
and I would love to give
a lot of love
and mad props to this band that
I have up here with me, too.
[cheering]
Over there on the keys,
we got Cliff!
Give it up for Cliff over there!
[cheering]
Nice to him right here
on the pedal-steel guitar,
and it's all covered
up right now with confetti.
Give it up for Drew right here.
[cheering]
Next to him here is
John on the keys.
[cheering]
We got another John right here,
John Sosin, on the guitar.
[cheering]
Over on this side, give it up
on the guitar, we got Ben!
What's up, Ben Jaffe?
[cheering]
We got Tarron on
the bass right here.
[cheering]
Moving and grooving.
And last but not least,
Rob Humphreys on the drums.
[cheering]
We, um...
And it's not just us that
you can visibly see.
How is the confetti
still falling?
That's insane.
Where is it coming from?
It's endless.
Wow, that's a deep
ass well of confetti.
It is. It is.
Anyways, it's not just
the band and me up here.
There's an entire massive
crew full of people
that work super
hard every single day
taking the show from
city to city.
[cheering]
And they're up early,
they're up late,
they're away
from their families,
but being in a room
of people like this
with energy that you guys
have brought tonight,
it makes it so worth it, so
give yourselves some love too.
[cheering]
And I hope you guys
at home have had
a really nice time as well.
All right, yeah.
My Saturn has returned
When I turned 27
Everything started to change
Took a long time,
but I learned
There's two kinds of people,
one is a giver
And one's always
tryin' to take
All they can take
So I'm sayin' goodbye to
the people that I feel
Are real good
at wastin' my time
No regrets, baby,
I just think that maybe
You go your way
and I'll go mine
It's been a real good time
But you got dark energy,
somethin' I can't unsee
And I've got to
take care of myself
I found a deeper well
I used to wake and bake
It's true.
Roll out of bed, hit the
gravity bong that I made
Made out of a 2 liter.
And start the day
For a while, it got me by
Every day.
Everything I did seemed
better when I was high
So fucking high
So I'm gettin' rid of
the habits that I feel
Are real good at
wastin' my time
No regrets, baby,
I just think that maybe
It's natural when
things lose their shine
So other things can glow
I've gotten older,
now I know
How to take care of myself
I found a deeper well
It was right here
in Seattle the whole time!
[cheering]
When I was growing up
We had what we needed,
shoes on our feet
But the world was
as flat as a plate
And that's okay
The things I was taught
only took me so far
Had to figure
the rest out myself
And then I found
I found a deeper well
Mm
Oh, oh
[cheering]
I want to end this show on
a really happy positive note.
[cheering]
Because the truth is
you're going to go your way
and I'm going to go mine.
We're going to go back to
our normal lives after this.
We're going to watch the news.
We're going to get on
Instagram
and we're going to be faced
with a million reasons
as to why we should
hate each other,
feel divided, and disagree.
And it's proof that we can
all be in this room here
together tonight
with one mission
is to feel love,
to spread love,
to have good energy, and
to take care of each other.
[cheering]
And I'm really thankful
that I have a place to come to
like this with you guys
and feel that way.
So thanks.
When it rains, it pours
But you didn't even notice
It ain't rainin' anymore
It's hard to breathe
when all you know is
The struggle of
stayin' above
The risin' water line
Well, the sky
has finally opened
The rain and wind
stopped blowin'
But you're stuck out
in the same ol' storm again
You hold tight
to your umbrella
Well, darlin',
I'm just tryin' to tell ya
That there's always
been a rainbow
Hangin' over your head
If you could see what I see
You'd be blinded
by the colors
Yellow, red, and
orange, and green
And at least
a million others
So tie up the boat,
take off your coat
And take a look around
'Cause the sky has
finally opened
The rain and wind
stopped blowin'
But you're stuck out in
the same ol' storm again
You hold tight
to your umbrella
Well, darlin',
I'm just tryin' to tell ya
That there's always
been a rainbow
Hangin' over your head
Oh
So, tie up the boat,
take off your coat
And take a look around
Everything is all right now
[cheering]
'Cause the skies
have finally
AUDIENCE: Opened
AUDIENCE: The rain and
wind stopped blowin'
AUDIENCE: But you're stuck out
in the same ol' storm again
Let go of your umbrella
'Cause, darlin',
I'm just tryin' to tell ya
That there's always
been a rainbow
Hangin' over your head
Yeah, there's always
been a rainbow
Hangin' over your head
Oh
It'll all be all right
Thank you so much, Seattle!
We love you!
We'll see you very soon,
be safe.
[cheering]
..
:
[cheering]
[cheering]
[cheering]
[cheering]
I saw a sign or an omen
On the branches
in the morning
It was right after I
Lost a friend
without warning
Words unsaid
Scarlet red
Cardinal
Are you bringing me a
message from the other side?
Cardinal
Are you telling me
I'm on somebody's mind?
Don't leave me
Behind
I took a walk in the city
To clear my head
for a moment
Turned my collar to the wind
On the street,
it was blowing
And there he was
Above my head
Cardinal
Are you bringing me a
message from the other side?
Cardinal
Are you telling me
I'm on somebody's mind?
Don't leave me
Behind
Are you just watching
and waiting for spring?
Or do you have some kind
of magic to bring?
Are you just watching
and waiting for spring?
Or do you have some kind
of magic to bring?
Are you just watching
and waiting for spring?
Or do you have
some kind of magic?
[cheering]
Cardinal
Are you bringing me a
message from the other side?
Cardinal
Are you telling me
I'm on somebody's mind?
Cardinal
Are you bringing me a message
from the other side?
Cardinal
Are you telling me
I'm on somebody's mind?
Are you bringing me a message
from the other side?
Cardinal
[cheering]
[cheering]
[cheering continues]
[cheering]
[cheering intensifies]
I was just coastin',
never really goin' anywhere
Caught up in a web
I was gettin' kinda
used to stayin' there
And out of the blue
I fell for you
Now, you're lifting me up
'stead of holding me down
Stealing my heart 'stead
of stealing my crown
Untangled all the strings
'round my wings that were tied
I didn't know him
and I didn't know me
Cloud Nine was
always out of reach
Now, I remember what
it feels like to fly
You give me butterflies
Kiss full of color
makes me wonder
Where you've always been
I was hiding in doubt
'til you brought me out
Of my chrysalis
And I came out new
All because of you
And now, you're lifting me up
'stead of holding me down
Stealing my heart 'stead
of stealing my crown
Untangled all the strings
'round my wings that were tied
I didn't know him
and I didn't know me
Cloud Nine was
always out of reach
Now, I remember
what it feels like to fly
Yeah
You give me butterflies
Ooh, mm, mm
Yeah
Now, you're lifting me up
'stead of holding me down
You're taking my hand
'stead of taking my crown
Untangled all the strings
'round my wings that were tied
I didn't know him
and I didn't know me
Cloud Nine was
always out of reach
Now, I remember what
it feels like to fly
You give me butterflies
You give me butterflies
Oh oh oh
Mm mm
[cheering]
[cheering intensifies]
Oh my gosh, Seattle!
[cheering]
[cheering continues]
Wow!
I haven't even done anything!
[cheering]
Okay, wow, holy shit!
Um...
Okay, that was...
that was an amazing welcome.
-[cheering]
-Hi! Welcome!
Welcome to the "Deeper Well
World Tour" Seattle edition.
[cheering]
A very, very sold out Seattle
edition, I might add.
Thank you very much!
[cheering]
Also, we are streaming this
live to people in their homes.
[cheering]
It's going out live.
So, um, do not
fuck this up for me.
[laughing]
My grandparents are
at home watching,
sorry in advance
for the curse words.
I do that when I'm excited.
Can't help it.
Um, I obviously hello here.
Hello on the sides.
Hello up top.
Hello on the back.
Hello!
I've seen a lot of
concerts from up there.
And let me tell you,
that's where all
the weird shit happens.
That's the fun zone.
I see you.
We are going to have an
amazing time together tonight.
You guys, we are
existing at the same time.
[cheering]
Crazy.
And that is a beautiful gift.
I do not take it lightly.
Every single person
in this room matters.
Even if I
can't physically see you,
you are contributing to the
energy in this room tonight.
And I'm so grateful
to be here.
This is going to
be an amazing time.
I can already tell.
Okay.
Shall we?
When the wind blows
It can push you around,
it can shake you
Maybe you can show me
'cause it seems like
You know how to
not let it faze you
If I didn't wanna
take control
I could let go
Maybe one day
I'll learn how to sway
Most of the time
All the thoughts in
my mind keep me runnin'
Show me a place where
I can just think of nothin'
If I surrender,
if I let go
Will you hold me?
Let's sway.
Maybe one day
I'll learn how to sway
Like a palm tree in the wind
I won't break,
I'll just bend
And I'll sway
I'll sway
Ah-ah
Ah ahh ahh
I'll sway
Yeah, oh yeah
Like a palm tree in the wind
I won't break,
I'll just bend
And I'll sway
I'll sway
[cheering]
Ah-ah
I'll sway
Yeah, oh yeah
Ah-ah
I'll sway
Yeah, oh yeah
[cheering]
[cheering]
This next song,
it's, um...
it's about opening
yourself back up again
after you've really had your
heart broken,
and just how hard that is,
and you're like, oh my God,
sometimes I've hurt
so bad of love,
I'm never gonna do this again.
And then you meet someone else,
and they kinda open you
back up again,
and you're like, okay,
here I go,
and you're just really
hoping that
that person is as wonderful as
you think they're gonna be.
Made some breakfast,
made some love
This is what
dreams are made of
On a cloudy
Monday morning
Summer's gone and
you're still here
For both of us,
it's been a year
A tidal wave
without a warning
Please don't make me regret
Openin' up that
part of myself
That I've been
scared to give again
Be good to me and
I'll be good to you
But please don't be
too good to be true
In my mind,
we're in New York
You had never been before
But, baby, now it's our town
I'll admit that I'm in deep
But I don't know
how else to be
And I don't wanna slow down
Please don't make me regret
Openin' up that
part of myself
That I've been
scared to give again
Be good to me and
I'll be good to you
But please don't be
too good to be true
[cheering]
Oh, mm
Ooh, mm
Made some breakfast,
made some love
If this is what
dreams are made of
Please don't wake me
[cheering]
All that I know
Is you caught me
at the right time
Keep me in your glow
'Cause I'm having
such a good time
With you
Baby, don't you know?
That you're my golden hour
The color of my sky
You've set my world on fire
And I know, I know
everything's gonna be alright
I used to get sad
And lonely when
the sun went down
But it's different now
'Cause I love the light
that I've found
In you
Baby, don't you know?
AUDIENCE:
That you're my golden hour
The color of my sky
You've set my world on fire
And I know, I know
Everything's gonna
be alright
You make the world
look beautiful, ooh
I thought I'd seen
it all before
But looking through
your eyes
It feels like paradise, yeah
You've set my world
on fire
Yeah
And I know, I know
everything's gonna be alright
You're my golden hour
The watercolor sky
You've set my world on fire
And I know, I know
everything's gonna be alright
Yeah, I know, I know
everything's gonna be alright
Golden hour
Oh, golden hour
[cheering]
So, sometimes you're
feeling a couple
different emotions
at the same time,
and it's hard
to pinpoint what to call that.
So...
It's not you
It's the glow of the party
The way that
you've got me
Lit up inside
It's the song
that they're playin'
The words that you're sayin'
It's never felt so right
And I'm the kind of person who
starts getting kinda nervous
When I'm having
the time of my life
Is there a word for the way
that I'm feeling tonight?
Happy and sad
at the same time
You got me smiling
with tears in my eyes
I never felt so high
No, I've never been this
far off of the ground
And they say everything
that goes up
Must come down
But I don't wanna come down
So is there a way
To stop all this thinkin'
Just keep on drinkin'?
'Cause I don't wanna wake up
When they're
turnin' the lights on
And it turns out
the joke's on me
'Cause it feels so right
And I'm the kind of person who
starts getting kinda nervous
When I'm having
the time of my life
Is there a word for the way
that I'm feeling tonight?
What's it called?
AUDIENCE: Happy and sad
at the same time
You got me smilin'
with tears in my eyes
I never felt so high
No, I've never been this
far off of the ground
And they say everything
that goes up
Must come down
But I don't wanna come down
I don't mind at all,
no, I'm used to fallin'
I'm comfortable when
the sky is gray
But when everything
is perfect, I start hidin'
'Cause I know that rain
is comin' my way
My way
'Cause I'm happy and
sad at the same time
You got me smilin'
with tears in my eyes
I never felt so high
No, I've never been
this far off of the ground
And they say
everything that goes up
Goes up must come down
And I don't wanna come down
No, I don't wanna come down
Oh, no
[cheering]
It's a lo-, it's a lo-,
it's a lonely weekend
It's a lo-, it's a lo-,
It's a lonely
feelin' without you
Monday, I was gone, and
Tuesday, you were
working late
Then Wednesday went to hell
And Thursday kinda
had to wait
Yeah
Friday, you were leavin',
goin' out of town again
I should see what's goin' on,
only got a couple friends
It's a lo-, it's a lo-,
It's a lonely weekend
It's a lo-, it's a lo-
It's a lonely feelin'
without you
I guess everybody else
is out tonight
Guess I'm hangin' by myself,
but I don't mind
It's a lo-, it's a lo-
It's a lonely weekend, yeah
I got a million
things to do
But I haven't
done a single one, no
And if my sister
lived in town
I know that we'd be
doin' something fun
Like shopping or crafts.
I keep lookin' at my
phone, puttin' it back down
There's a little part of me
That's got the fear
of missin' out, and
It's a lo-, it's a lo-
It's a lonely weekend
It's a lo-, it's a lo-
It's a lonely feelin'
without you
I guess everybody else
is out tonight
Guess I'm hangin' by myself,
but I don't mind
It's a lo-, it's a lo-,
It's a lonely weekend, yeah
Ooh
Even if you got
somebody on your mind
Ooh
It's alright to
be alone sometimes
Sometimes
It's a lo-, it's a lo-
It's a lonely weekend
Not here, though.
It's a lo-, it's a lo-
It's a lonely feelin'
without you
I guess everybody else
is out tonight
Guess I'm hangin' by myself,
but I don't mind
It's a lo-, it's a lo-
It's a lonely weekend
It's a lo-, it's a lo-
It's a lonely weekend
[cheering]
You can step off a
plane into a black car
You can pay 'em to wait
You can wear a
gold watch on your wrist
But it won't give you
back the moments you miss
When I get paid,
I wanna spend it on you
Baby, that's what it's for
I'd burn it all
to keep you warm
Who wants to be
a lonely millionaire?
Comin' home,
ain't no one there
That you can talk to
in your king-size bed
Be careful what you wish for,
I see it all the time
The money and the diamonds
and the things that shine
Can't buy you
true happiness
But get you damn close, though.
La, la, la, la,
la, la, la, la
La, la, la, la
La, la, la, la,
la, la, la, la
La, la, la, la
All I want,
all I want
All I want is you
All I want,
all I want
All I want is you
[cheering]
Oh, mm
Be careful what you wish for,
I see it all the time
The money and the diamonds
and the things that shine
Can't buy you true happiness
Come on!
La, la, la, la,
la, la, la, la
La, la, la, la
Let me hear ya.
La la la la
Let me hear you at home.
One more time.
La, la, la, la,
la, la, la, la
La, la, la, la
Last round, your turn.
La, la, la, la,
la, la, la, la
La, la, la, la
Let me hear you in
the back, ready?
La, la, la...
AUDIENCE:
La, la, la, la
La, la, la, la
-[cheering]
-Okay!
So we're over here now.
[cheering]
I had to put my
wellies on and make
the arduous mossy trip
to the B-stage.
Just wanted to be a little bit
closer to you guys back here.
[cheering]
I've always loved coming
to Seattle, by the way.
-[cheering]
-It's so fun.
I've been coming here
a long time, and, uh...
Your evergy is amazing,
and it also tells me there's
a lot of people in this room
that have been with me
since day one.
[cheering]
On all the twists and
turns of the journey.
And thank you so much for
going on this journey with me
as I just explore what
feeds me creatively,
and you guys, you come along
and sometimes bring
other new people
and... I don't know.
I just love it.
I'm thankful for that.
But... I'm gonna go back in
time just a little bit to 2012.
[cheering]
In 2012, I was making some
really terrible hair choices.
Some really, really
questionable boyfriend choices.
And I was also writing
songs that
I was being told they
were going to go down in flames.
And, um...
I was like, I really want
to put this song on my record.
And for many reason,
I was told
it wasn't going
to be a good idea
for a new country artists
to say these things,
and I just had to say
I think, you know,
to each their own,
of course, but
you know, if country music
is a genre that is
built on real stories
and real people,
then I don't know why
it can't evolve, too,
to include everyone, so...
[cheering]
I'm not doing
anything outlandish,
I'm just taking these things
that have inspired my real life
and I'm putting them
in my songs.
I'm just doing my job
as a songwriter, and, um,
maybe the song got banned
by country radio,
and it may have gotten
censored on the CMAs,
but the love that you have
brought me
with this early song means
more to me than any of that.
So, let's sing it rtogether.
[cheering]
If you save yourself
for marriage, you're a bore
If you don't save
yourself for marriage
You're a horrible person
If you won't have a drink,
then you're a prude
But they'll call
you a drunk
As soon as you
down the first one
If you can't lose the weight,
then you're just fat
But if you lose too much,
then you're on crack
You're damned if you do and
you're damned if you don't
So, you might as well
just do whatever you want
[cheering]
So make lots of noise
Kiss lots of boys
Or kiss lots of girls, if
that's somethin' you're into
When the straight and narrow
gets a little too straight
Roll up a joint
And follow your arrow
wherever it points, yeah
Follow your arrow
wherever it points
Yeah
[whistling]
If you don't go to church,
you'll go to Hell
If you're the first one
on the front row,
You're a self-righteous
son of a
Can't win for losin',
you'll just disappoint 'em
Just 'cause you
can't beat 'em
Don't mean you
should join 'em
So make lots of noise
Kiss lots of boys
Or kiss lots of girls, if
that's somethin' you're into
When the straight and narrow
gets a little too straight
Roll up a joint
And follow your arrow
wherever it points, yeah
Follow your arrow
wherever it points
Just say what you think
And love who you love
'Cause you just get so
many trips around the sun
Yeah, you only
You only live once
Yeah
[whistling]
So make lots of noise
Kiss lots of boys
Or kiss lots of girls,
if that's what you're into
When the straight and narrow
gets a little too straight
Roll up a joint
AUDIENCE:
I would
And follow your arrow
wherever it points, yeah
Follow your
arrow wherever
Wherever it points
[cheering]
We spent all day where
the north wind blows
And you bought me
a lavender rose
Put it in water
when we got home
That's what heaven is
No tears to cry
and nothing to mourn
Wearin' your shirt,
so tattered and torn
Lyin' in your arms,
so safe and warm
That's what heaven is
I don't care for
money or fame
All for you,
I'd give it away
The way you sound
when you call my name
That's what heaven is
Nobody knows where
we go when we die
Maybe we'll ride
white horses in the sky
And if we don't then,
darling, tonight
That's what heaven is
If all I have is
the light in your eyes
That's what heaven is
[cheering]
Thank you.
Well, I don't know about
you here in Seattle,
but I've got some crazy family
members down in Texas.
[cheering]
None that are watching
this live broadcast.
It's not you.
It's not you guys.
It's the other ones.
But this one, this next song,
I'm going to throw it
back again, way back.
[cheering]
I'm feeling a little bit
of yee-haw energy
from this crowd tonight.
[cheering]
So...
So you asked for it.
So anyways, so
this one is from,
it's about my crazy family,
and it goes out to all
the crazies in yours. Okay?
[cheering]
They're there for
your first year
They give you
your first beer
When you get
your heart broke
They're there
for your worst year
Don't get you at all
But your apple don't
fall too far from 'em
They own too much wicker
and drink too much liquor
You'd wash your hands of them,
but blood's always thicker
You might look
just like 'em
That don't mean
you're like 'em
But you love 'em
Family is family,
in church or in prison
You get what you get, and
you don't get to pick 'em
They might smoke
like chimneys
But give you their kidneys
Yeah, friends come in handy,
but family is family
Yeah
[cheering]
They're there when
you're married
Divorced and remarried
You fall out of touch,
but then someone gets buried
And you're right
back together
Like no time
has ever gone by
I feel that verse.
Can't live with
or without 'em
You might talk about 'em
But if someone
else does, well
You'll knock 'em
out 'cause
When it's all said and done
They're the only ones
that you got
Family is family,
in church or in prison
You get what you get, and
you don't get to pick 'em
They might smoke
like chimneys
But give you their kidneys
Friends come in handy,
but family is family
All right
Yeah, family is funny,
they'll ask you for money
Even though they know
you ain't got no money
They show up at Christmas,
get up in your business
They might not be fancy,
but family is family
And we love 'em anyways.
Yeah, you might look
just like 'em
That don't mean
you're like 'em
But you love 'em
[cheering]
Thank you.
Yeah, if we didn't have
any crazy family,
who would we talk
about in therapy?
It's true.
Who would we write songs about?
You guys having
a good time so far?
[cheering]
Awesome.
I had a really
lovely day myself.
The weather here.
Chef's kiss. What?
Oh, hello Fall.
Hello, Autumn.
Autumn's moving in.
Newsflash.
Oh, that was a "Deeper Well"
lyrical reference
from a deep cut in case
you didn't notice.
No, I like did the most
touristy things
like went walk down the the pier
and like the the market.
No, the market.
The fisherman's market.
That that's what I did.
All the flowers,
all the things,
the sights, the smells.
It's really cute.
So, um, I...
I do have a really serious
question though, and that is
what is a pirate's favorite
song from "Deeper Well?"
It's... it's... I know.
You'd never guess.
It's "The Arrrr-chitect."
I hate myself. Thanks.
[cheering]
I hate myself.
Even something as
small as an apple
It's simple and
somehow complex
Sweet and divine,
the perfect design
Can I speak
to the architect?
There's a canyon that cuts
through the desert
Did it get there
because of a flood?
Was it devised or
were you surprised
When you saw
how grand it was?
Was it thought out at all
or just paint on a wall?
Is there anything
that you regret?
I don't understand, are
there blueprints or plans?
Can I speak
to the architect?
Sometimes I look
in the mirror
And wish I could
make a request
Could I pray it away?
Am I shapeable clay?
Or is this as
good as it gets?
One day, you're on
top of the mountain
So high that
you'll never come down
Then the wind at your back
carries ember and ash
And burns your whole house
to the ground
Is it thought out at all
or just paint on a wall?
Is there anything
that you regret?
I don't understand, are
there blueprints or plans?
Can I speak
to the architect?
Ohh
Ohh mmm
Ohh oh oh
Ohh
I thought that
I was too broken
And maybe too hard to love
I was in a weird place,
then I saw the right face
And the stars and
the planets lined up
Does it happen by chance?
Is it all happenstance?
Do we have any
say in this mess?
Is it too late to
make some more space?
Can I speak
to the architect?
This life that we make,
is it random or fate?
Can I speak
to the architect?
Is there an architect?
[cheering]
Well, I just want to say
how absolutely fantastic
both Father John Misty
and both Nickel Creek are.
I love them so much.
[cheering]
And it's been
a really fun tour.
I think this is our
eighth show, right?
I think, maybe, eight,
something?
I'm not, who's counting.
But it has been
such a joy to have
both of those artists here
and I just honestly
I wanted to approach this tour
like creating a
little mini festival
that I would personally
really want to come see.
So I am fans of both
and I would actually
really love
to bring out Nickel Creek
right now, come on, guys.
[cheering]
Hey! Yeah!
Show them some love!
[cheering]
We've got Chris, Sarah,
and Sean here.
-Hello, guys.
-Hello, Kacey!
How are you feeling?
-Great.
-So good. What a show.
Oh my gosh, right?
Seattle.
Bringing the energy.
Yeah. Yeah, seriously.
Well, you guys we did prepare
a little ditty for you.
It's honestly it's a
wholesome little murder ballad
and Seattle, it seems
like maybe you guys
like murder ballads here.
I don't know.
[cheering]
It's a murderous tale
that goes way back.
Shall we do it?
Shall we?
I'm still a fan even
though I was salty
Hate to see you with some
other broad, know your happy
Hate to see you happy
if I'm not the one drivin'
I'm so mature,
I'm so mature
I'm so mature,
I got me a therapist
To tell me
there's other men
I don't want none,
I just want you
If I can't have you,
no one should
I might
I might kill my ex
Not the best idea
His new girlfriend's next
How'd I get here?
I might kill my ex
I still love him though
Rather be in jail
than alone
I get the sense that
it's a lost cause
I get the sense that
you might really love her
This text gon' be evidence,
this text is evidence
I tried to ration with you
No murders or crime
of passion, but damn
You was out of reach
You was at the farmer's market
with your perfect peach
Now I'm in the basement
plannin' home invasion
Now you layin' face-down,
got me singin' over a beat
I'm so mature, I'm so mature
I'm so mature,
I got me a therapist
To tell me there's other men
I don't want none,
I just want you
If I can't have you,
no one will
I might
I might kill my ex
Not the best idea
His new girlfriend's next
How'd I get here?
I might kill my ex
I still love him though
Rather be in jail
than alone
-I did it all for love
-I did it all for love
I did it all on no drugs
-No drugs
I did all of this sober
I did it all for us, oh
-I did it all for love
-I did it all for love
I did all of this
on no drugs
I did all of this sober
Don't you know I did
it all for us?
Oh, I just killed my ex
Not the best idea
Killed his girlfriend
next, how'd I get here?
I just killed my ex
I still love him though
I'd rather be in Hell
than alone
[cheering]
[cheering]
[cheering]
[cheering]
I wanna bathe
in the moonlight
Until I'm fully charged
Come into my power
And heal the broken parts
That I carry
Oh
Like the bracelet
that you bought me
I want you on my arm
Calm, cool and protective
And keeping me from harm
Jade green
Jade green
I always keep it on me
Always keep it on me
I can't help it,
I get anxious
And every time we part
I say a little prayer
To drive away the dark
And I'm with you
And you're with me
Like the bracelet
that you gave me
Come on!
AUDIENCE:
Jade
Green
Jade green
I always keep it on me
Always keep it on me
On me
On me
On me, yeah
Oh
[cheering]
[cheering]
[cheering]
Born in a hurry,
always late
Haven't been early
since '88
Texas is hot, I can be cold
Grandma cried when
I pierced my nose
Good in a glass,
good on green
Good when you're puttin'
your hands all over me
I'm alright
with a slow burn
Taking my time,
let the world turn
I'm gonna do it my way,
it'll be alright
If we burn it down and
it takes all night
It's a slow burn, yeah
In Tennessee,
the sun's goin' down
But in Beijing,
they're headin' out to work
You know the bar down
the street
Don't close for an hour
We should take a walk and
look at all the flowers
'Cause I'm alright
with a slow burn
Taking my time,
let the world turn
I'm gonna do it my way,
it'll be alright
If we burn it down and
it takes all night
It's a slow burn
Oh, whatever feels good
All right.
Ah ah ah
Ah ah ah
Ah ah ah
Ah ah ah
Oh
Old soul, waitin' my turn
I know a few things, but
I still got a lot to learn
So I'm alright
with a slow burn
Slow burn
Slow burn
[cheering]
You look out the window
While I look at you
Saying I don't know
Would be like saying
that the sky ain't blue
And boots weren't made
for sitting by the door
If you don't
wanna stay anymore
You can have your
space, cowboy
I ain't gonna fence you in
Go on, ride away
in your Silverado
I'll see you 'round again
I know my place,
and it ain't with you
Sunsets fade,
and love does, too
Yeah, we had our
day in the sun
When a horse wants to run
Ain't no sense
in closing the gate
You can have your space
Cowboy
Guess after the gold rush
There ain't no
reason to stay
I shoulda learned
from the movies
Good guys don't run away
But roads weren't
made to not go down
And there ain't room for
both of us in this town
So you can have
your space, cowboy
I ain't gonna fence you in
Go on, ride away
in your Silverado
I'll see you around again
But I know my place,
and it ain't with you
Sunsets fade,
and love does, too
We had our day in the sun
When a horse wants to run
Ain't no sense in
closing the gate
You can have your space
You can have your
space, cowboy
I ain't gonna fence you in
Go on, ride away
in your Silverado
I'll see you around again
'Cause I know my place,
and it ain't with you
Sunsets fade,
and love does, too
Though we had
our day in the sun
When a horse wants to run
Ain't no sense
in closing the gate
You can have your space
Yeah, you can
have your space
You can have your space
Cowboy
[cheering]
That was beautiful,
y'all, thank you.
It was a fun, strange summer
I rolled on,
didn't think of you
We lost touch
with each other
Fall came and I had to move
Movin' backwards,
hurt comes after
Healin' doesn't
happen in a straight line
If I cry just a little
And then laugh
in the middle
If I hate you
and I love you
And then I change my mind
If I need just a little
More time to deal
with the fact
That you shoulda
treated me right
I'm more than just
a little justified
Oh oh
Oh oh
I'm more than just
a little justified
To touch somebody
You know I tried
to make that you
And when you lied,
said you didn't want me
Tell me, what was
I supposed to do?
Movin' onwards,
feelin' strong, but
Healin' doesn't happen
in a straight line
If I cry just a little
And then laugh in the middle
If I hate you
and I love you
And then I change my mind
If I need just a little
More time to deal
with the fact
That you shoulda
treated me right
I'm more than just
a little justified
Oh oh
Oh oh
I'm more than just
a little justified
If I die just a little,
inside just a little
If I want you and I call you
Then I change my mind
If I need just a little
More time to deal
with the fact
That I coulda
treated you right
I'm more than just a little
Justified
If I hate you
and I love you
And then I change my mind
If I need just a little
More time to deal
with the fact
That you shoulda
treated me right
I'm more than
just a little justified
Oh oh
Oh oh
I'm more than just
a little justified
[cheering]
[cheering intensifies]
I know you wanted
me to stay
But I can't ignore the
crazy visions of me in LA
I heard that
there's a special place
Where boys and girls can all
be queens every single day
I'm having wicked dreams
Of leaving Tennessee
Hear Santa Monica
I swear it's calling me
Won't make my mama proud
It's gonna cause a scene
She sees her baby girl
I know she's gonna scream
God, what have you done?
You're a pink pony girl
And you dance at the club
Oh mama, I'm just having fun
On the stage in my heels
It's where I
belong down at the
Pink Pony Club
I'm gonna keep on dancing
at the Pink Pony Club
I'm gonna keep on dancing
down in West Hollywood
I'm gonna keep on dancing
At the Pink Pony Club
Pink Pony Club
Oh, oh shit!
[cheering]
Pink ponies!
High horses, where you at?
Oh, I bet you think
you're John Wayne
Showin' up and
shootin' down everybody
You're classic in
the wrong way
And we all know the
end of the story
'Cause everyone knows
someone who kills the buzz
Every time they open
up their mouth
Ain't gonna name names.
Yeah, everyone knows
someone who knows someone
Who thinks they're cooler
than everybody else
And I think we've
seen enough, seen enough
To know that you ain't
ever gonna come down
So, why don't you
giddy up, giddy up
And ride straight
out of this town?
You and your high horse
Mmm-mmm
You and your
high horse
Mmm-mmm
Oh, I bet you think
you're first place, yeah
Someone should give
you a ribbon
And put you in
the hall of fame
For all the games that you
think that you're winning
'Cause everyone knows
someone who kills the buzz
Every time they open
up their mouth
Yeah, everyone knows
someone who knows someone
Who thinks they're
cooler than everybody else
And I think we've
seen enough, seen enough
To know that you ain't
ever gonna come down
So, why don't you
giddy up, giddy up
And ride straight
out of this town?
You and your high horse
Mmm-mmm
You and your high horse
Mmm-mmm
Break it down, y'all.
Darlin', you take
the high horse
And I'll take the high road
Always do.
Oh
If you're too good
for us
You'll be good
riding solo
Come on!
Yeah, I think we've
seen enough, seen enough
To know that you ain't
ever gonna come down
So, why don't
you giddy up, giddy up
Uh-huh.
And ride straight
out of this town?
You and your high horse
Mmmm-mmm
You and your high horse
Mmm-mmm
Here we go.
[cheering]
Oh oh
Let's go, y'all!
You ain't ever
gonna come down
Oh oh
You ain't ever
gonna come down
Oh oh
You ain't ever
gonna come down
-[cheering]
-Yes!
We might not actually
be able to get down!
Woo! Shit!
[cheering]
Ha ha ha!
Oh my goodness!
A blizzard of
biodegradable confetti.
This is beautiful!
[cheering]
What an amazing night, right?
Wow!
[cheering]
We do have a couple
more songs left for you.
[cheering]
And then that's it, no encore.
I don't believe
in encores anymore.
Can I just declare encores
cancelled?
Can we just cancel them?
Because I think what's
cooler is just saying,
hey, we have
two more songs left,
and we're all going to be
as present as possible
during those last two songs.
And then I'm going to get
on the bus in my sweats,
I'm going to pour a
fat ass glass of wine,
and then I'm going to
get on Zillow,
like I shouldn't be.
I'm going to get on
Zillow, Seattle,
and see what's on there.
[cheering]
'Cause...
I'm walking around Seattle
today, like, am I moving here?
-[cheering]
-It's nice!
No, but really,
your energy has been
absolutely amazing tonight,
and I would love to give
a lot of love
and mad props to this band that
I have up here with me, too.
[cheering]
Over there on the keys,
we got Cliff!
Give it up for Cliff over there!
[cheering]
Nice to him right here
on the pedal-steel guitar,
and it's all covered
up right now with confetti.
Give it up for Drew right here.
[cheering]
Next to him here is
John on the keys.
[cheering]
We got another John right here,
John Sosin, on the guitar.
[cheering]
Over on this side, give it up
on the guitar, we got Ben!
What's up, Ben Jaffe?
[cheering]
We got Tarron on
the bass right here.
[cheering]
Moving and grooving.
And last but not least,
Rob Humphreys on the drums.
[cheering]
We, um...
And it's not just us that
you can visibly see.
How is the confetti
still falling?
That's insane.
Where is it coming from?
It's endless.
Wow, that's a deep
ass well of confetti.
It is. It is.
Anyways, it's not just
the band and me up here.
There's an entire massive
crew full of people
that work super
hard every single day
taking the show from
city to city.
[cheering]
And they're up early,
they're up late,
they're away
from their families,
but being in a room
of people like this
with energy that you guys
have brought tonight,
it makes it so worth it, so
give yourselves some love too.
[cheering]
And I hope you guys
at home have had
a really nice time as well.
All right, yeah.
My Saturn has returned
When I turned 27
Everything started to change
Took a long time,
but I learned
There's two kinds of people,
one is a giver
And one's always
tryin' to take
All they can take
So I'm sayin' goodbye to
the people that I feel
Are real good
at wastin' my time
No regrets, baby,
I just think that maybe
You go your way
and I'll go mine
It's been a real good time
But you got dark energy,
somethin' I can't unsee
And I've got to
take care of myself
I found a deeper well
I used to wake and bake
It's true.
Roll out of bed, hit the
gravity bong that I made
Made out of a 2 liter.
And start the day
For a while, it got me by
Every day.
Everything I did seemed
better when I was high
So fucking high
So I'm gettin' rid of
the habits that I feel
Are real good at
wastin' my time
No regrets, baby,
I just think that maybe
It's natural when
things lose their shine
So other things can glow
I've gotten older,
now I know
How to take care of myself
I found a deeper well
It was right here
in Seattle the whole time!
[cheering]
When I was growing up
We had what we needed,
shoes on our feet
But the world was
as flat as a plate
And that's okay
The things I was taught
only took me so far
Had to figure
the rest out myself
And then I found
I found a deeper well
Mm
Oh, oh
[cheering]
I want to end this show on
a really happy positive note.
[cheering]
Because the truth is
you're going to go your way
and I'm going to go mine.
We're going to go back to
our normal lives after this.
We're going to watch the news.
We're going to get on
and we're going to be faced
with a million reasons
as to why we should
hate each other,
feel divided, and disagree.
And it's proof that we can
all be in this room here
together tonight
with one mission
is to feel love,
to spread love,
to have good energy, and
to take care of each other.
[cheering]
And I'm really thankful
that I have a place to come to
like this with you guys
and feel that way.
So thanks.
When it rains, it pours
But you didn't even notice
It ain't rainin' anymore
It's hard to breathe
when all you know is
The struggle of
stayin' above
The risin' water line
Well, the sky
has finally opened
The rain and wind
stopped blowin'
But you're stuck out
in the same ol' storm again
You hold tight
to your umbrella
Well, darlin',
I'm just tryin' to tell ya
That there's always
been a rainbow
Hangin' over your head
If you could see what I see
You'd be blinded
by the colors
Yellow, red, and
orange, and green
And at least
a million others
So tie up the boat,
take off your coat
And take a look around
'Cause the sky has
finally opened
The rain and wind
stopped blowin'
But you're stuck out in
the same ol' storm again
You hold tight
to your umbrella
Well, darlin',
I'm just tryin' to tell ya
That there's always
been a rainbow
Hangin' over your head
Oh
So, tie up the boat,
take off your coat
And take a look around
Everything is all right now
[cheering]
'Cause the skies
have finally
AUDIENCE: Opened
AUDIENCE: The rain and
wind stopped blowin'
AUDIENCE: But you're stuck out
in the same ol' storm again
Let go of your umbrella
'Cause, darlin',
I'm just tryin' to tell ya
That there's always
been a rainbow
Hangin' over your head
Yeah, there's always
been a rainbow
Hangin' over your head
Oh
It'll all be all right
Thank you so much, Seattle!
We love you!
We'll see you very soon,
be safe.
[cheering]
