The Island of Lost Girls (2022) Movie Script

1
[lighthouse horn blows]
[waves crashing]
[horn blowing]
[uplifting music]

NARRATOR: With its high cliffs
and crashing surf,
this island sits on the edge
of the Pacific Ocean.
Although there are
millions of animals
that live on
this isolated rock,
there is only one man
who calls it home.

[sea lions barking]
It's the end of summer now,
and the beaches are full of
young pups and their mothers.
Three months earlier,
hese shores were a battlegroundt
s the bulls fought to dominatea
this stretch of beach.
In his youth,
the lighthouse keeper
had been careless
during that time of year
and paid dearly with his arm.
Older, wiser,
he has learned to respect
the strength of the island.
[sweeping instrumentals]

Many youngsters will not
survive their first year.
The weaker ones
will not find enough food.
There'll be accidents,
unsuspecting predators
will attack.
And there will be orphans.
[lighthouse horn blows]
Um...my favorite thing
is going to the beach
and surfing,
'cause when I was...
when I was--well,
when my parents were alive,
I used to surf with them a lot.
[gasps, grunts]
Oh, my gosh!
I need to wake up!
Scarlet, wake up!
Yeah!
[Scarlet giggling]
Their car's here!
Scarlet, we're late
for the interview!
And one time, uh,
when I was at like a place
and I could snorkel,
and I was looking down
at all the fish and there was...
[grunting]
This is like enough clothes
for me.
Okay, bring it over.
And I didn't notice
that there was this
big wave coming,
and the big wave
went over me,
and it filled in like the tube
that the snorkel was coming.
And one of my flippers came off
and it sunk to the bottom,
and when I came up I was like...
[gasping]
-[softly] "Help me!"
-[couple chuckling]
Okay.
Okay, you look good.
[panting]
-She's so perfect.
-I know, she is perfect.
-She's perfect.
-[man chuckling]
We should take her home
right now.
[light music]
[thud]
-Did something just hit my car?
-[distantly] Be careful!
-Don't smash the--
-[shattering sound]
HUSBAND: Who's that by my car?
-What's wrong?
WIFE: Honey, please.
-I just got that thing waxed.
-You have to breathe.
[muffled arguing]
[muffled] I believe
only one child.
We might have a new mom
and dad!
I can't tell
what they're saying,
but they look really excited.
[muffled] One. One child.
Not three!
Three children! No!
No! No!
That could mean anything.
[muffled shouting]
They're coming!
[Scarlet giggles]
HUSBAND: It's not just the car.
-Honey, please...
Look, I don't know how they--
I don't know how they
missed that in the file.
-It's ridiculous. I mean--
-Well, it was a mistake.
Yeah, fine, a mistake, but
we've never had children before.
We can't just jump in
with three!
That'd be insane!
What do they expect us to do,
buy a minivan?
Honey--
Honey, please--
Avila...
I'm sorry.
I wish we could.
Sorry.
-[Avila sobs]
-Honey...
HUSBAND: Come on!
WIFE: You're so rude.
Rude? They're rude!
[melancholy music]
AUTUMN: Aw...I don't
understand what happened.
It's okay.
[sobbing]
AUTUMN: I thought
they really liked us.
Jelly...
and peanut butter...
[light music]

No peanut butter?
-[clattering]
-[cat yowls]
[light music continues]

[Scarlet laughing,
grunting rhythmically]
Uh-uh-uh-uh!
Ah...
[giggling]
What are you doing
in my bed?
I'm sorry about yesterday.
It's okay.
Uh, me and Scarlet
wanted to take you to the beach.
What if...Miss McDade sees us?
No, we'll sneak out.
Are you with us?
Um...I don't know.
[laughing]
[whispering] It's gonna be...
a grand..."aventure."
I promise.
[giggling]
AUTUMN: [whispering]
Come on, let's go.
[energetic music]
[The Meters'

Clap a hand, now, people,
clap now
Clap a hand now,
people clap a hand
Clap a hand now, people
clap now...
Nooooo...

[voice echoing]
[Scarlet grunts]
[inhales, exhales]
Scarlet!

A little softer,
people, get softer
A little softer,
people get down and low
A little softer,
people get softer
A little softer, people,
get down and low...
AVILA: Scarlet!
-Stop it!
-People get louder
A little louder,
people get louder
A little louder,
people get louder...
I didn't know
how high this is.
Come on, Scarlet, let's go.
AUTUMN: Oh...
Hmm.
We gonna let
our guitar man
-Shh!
-Go do his thing
Listen to the strings,
y'all
AVILA: Let's go, come on!
AUTUMN: Come on.
AVILA: Let's go, let's go.
-Come on, we gotta go.
-Okay!

-But what about Miss--
AVILA: Shh!
[whispering continues]
-[whispering]
-Shh!
AVILA: Scarlet!
Scarlet, come on.
SCARLET: Ugh!
AVILA: Here!
Soap, soap.
[clunk]
[giggling]

Come on! Hurry!
-Hurry, Scarlet, come on. Jump!
-Come on!
Let's go, Scarlet.
Come on, let's go.
Come on, Scarlet.
I'm gonna jump.
Hee hee hee.
[squeals]
[grunts, laughs]
AUTUMN: Get up, let's go.
AVILA: Come on, Scarlet.
We gotta go.
Come on.
AUTUMN: Hurry, come on,
Scarlet, Hurry!
[muffled giggling]
[yawning]
[Scarlet giggling]
[Scarlet giggles]
AVILA: Come on,
let's go, let's go!

Clap your hands, now,
people clap now
Clap your hands, now,

[Scarlet giggling]
[mischievous music]

Autumn, where'd you put
that sandwich?
Oh, in the brown bag over there.
Ugh.
[giggling]
Autumn, what'd you put in here?
AUTUMN: Well, I ran out of
peanut butter, so--
AVILA: It's disgusting!
AUTUMN: Well, I didn't
have enough 'gredients!
-What did you put in this?
-Crab, crab, crab!
Eew! You know I hate seafood.
No, there's a crab
hanging on the sandwich!
Aah!
Aah! Crab!
Oh, no, he's coming!
Autumn, grab the crab!
[whimpering]
AUTUMN:
I think you should grab him.
Autumn, why don't you go
and get that boy's bucket?
You can go scoop up the crab
and dump him in the ocean.
Hey!
'Scuse me.
I'm gonna borrow this.
[boy crying]
[wailing]
AVILA: Take out the bucket.
Careful...
there.
AUTUMN: Scarlet, come here!
Scarlet, take this crab into
the water in the ocean, okay?
Make sure they're way
out there!
I'm gonna take you home.
Avila, I got rid of the crab.
Huh?
You wanna go back
to the ocean?
I'll help you out.
[light music]

Uh--[gasps]
[giggling]
Goodbye, Mr. Crab.
Aah! Aah!
Hee hee hee hee hee!
[continues giggling]
Mr. Crab!
You belong in the ocean.
Hey, wait--get off!
Ugh! Get off of my bucket.
You can go home!
Yellow! The water!
Got it.
WOMAN: You missing
your bucket, huh?
Now I'm gonna have to
take you
way, way out in the water.
[uneasy music]
Hey, look!
Ugh!
No, no.
[grunting]
Look!
[muffled yelling]

Okay. Okay, hold on.
Hold on, hold on, I'm coming.
BOY: Hurry up! Come here!
[uneasy music]
Ohh...
The sand castle broke.
-Where's Scarlet?
-Oh!
-I left her down by the water.
-What?
You left her down by the water?
[gibberish]
AUTUMN:
Wait up! I'm coming!
Autumn, you shouldn't have
told her to go away!
AUTUMN: I'm sorry!
[grunting, sputtering]
Autumn! Avila!
AVILA: What were you thinking?
She can't even swim!
AUTUMN: She can swim
a little bit!
AVILA: Dog paddle
to the count!
Yellow! Yellow in the water!
[Scarlet panting]
Help--
[words bubbling]
[muffled yelling]
AVILA: Go harder!
-We have to get to her!
-Paddle! Hurry!
What are you looking at?
[suspenseful music]
[Scarlet gurgling, gasping]
Help!
Scarlet!
Take my hand!
Hurry!
Hurry, Scarlet.
-Oh, no.
-Autumn, hold on!
-Aah!
-Aah!
Aah!
Scarlet!
AUTUMN: Pull her up!
-Oh--aah!
-Scarlet!
BOY: Yellow!
-Mommy, mommy, mommy!
-Riley!
-Come here, Mama!
-Riley!
-Riley, come here.
-My yellow!
AVILA: Aah! We're stuck
in a current!
We need to get under that.
SCARLET: Help, Autumn!
[indistinct yelling]
AUTUMN: I'm glad that's over.
-Got it!
-Oh, your bucket?
SCARLET: Why are we getting
farther away from the shore?
AVILA: We're stuck
in a rip current!
Help!
-Help!
-Help!
-[distantly] Help!
-Help!
-Whoa!
-Whoa!
AVILA: It's pulling us out.
Paddle!
Autumn, paddle, hurry!
I'll go and get help.
AUTUMN: Avila!
SCARLET: No!
AUTUMN: Avila, don't leave us!
SCARLET: Come back!
SCARLET: I'm scared!
AUTUMN: Avila, come back here!
SCARLET: I'm scared!
AUTUMN: Avila, don't leave us!
SCARLET: Come back! I'm scared.
Avila!
[Riley laughing]
Oh! Ah!
Come here.
AVILA: Fine.
I'll come back.
[Riley giggling]
[mutters]
Are you looking at something?
Help us!
[sighs]
All right.
-Help!
-Help!
Help!
-Help!
-Help us!
-Help us!
-Hey!
Help! Someone!
Bye!
[woman humming]
[girls giggling]
[uneasy music]
-[thud]
-[loud barking]
[barking, growling]
[thudding, growling]
[barking]
[birds calling]
[soft music]
Avila, what do people eat
when they get left out at sea?
Do they do eat seagulls
or something?
Seagulls!
Well, I don't think
we would have to eat seagulls.
Before it gets to that,
I'm sure we'll find a boat.
Somewhere.
[heavy atmospheric music]

Well, it looks like
it's come to this.
Autumn, don't blame me.
It's your fault that we're here.
We're tired, we're hungry,
and we've been out here
forever!
Give me another chance!
Come on!
-Autumn, we have to do this.
-I don't want to!
-I just wanna live!
AVILA: Autumn, we love you.
But it's just your time to go.
I'm so hungry!
I picked, you picked.
We all agreed to this.
Avila! I don't wanna
go do it.
Please!
Ugh! Why are you being
such a baby about this?
Um...Avila...
[whimpering]
Autumn, you're gonna get it!
[laughing]
Chhh! Aah!
[Autumn gasping] Ooh!
[both laughing]
Chhh!
Eew, gross!
You guys are so disgusting.
Fine, I'll go, but...
I hate losing at Tic-Tac-Toe.
[sighs]
This game's not good.
Yes! I won again.
Better luck next time.
[birds crying]
AUTUMN: Do you really think
we'll be okay?
AVILA:
Autumn, don't lose faith.
God's always gonna guide us.
[moody music]

[yawns]
[sadly] Good morning.
[peppy] Good morning.
Guess what I found.
A stick?
Look!
[gasps]
Yay!
Yay! Whoo-hoo!
Yes!
Whoa! Whoa!
[gasps]
Whoa.
AUTUMN: We're here! Yippee!
Whoa! That was huge!
AVILA: Look at that over there!
Whoo!
Look! A sea bird!
Yay!
-Yay!
-Yay!
We're gonna be saved, Avila!
[light music]

[horn blows]
Look! The lighthouse!
Yay!
-Yay!
-Help!
[overlapping shouting]
AUTUMN: Help!
AVILA: We're here!
-Come get us! Help us!
-[horn blowing]
-Here, help us!
-We're down heeeeere!
-Help!
-Ugh!
Why can't they hear us?
Maybe nobody's up there.
Come on, you know those things
don't work by themselves.
We just have to get closer.
How are we gonna get up there?
Well, I bet you we can climb
through one of these caves.
SCARLET: You want us
to go on the inside?
[uneasy music]
AVILA: I can't imagine
it'd be that difficult.
[squawking]
Avila, this looks really scary.
[overlapping cries]
[suspenseful music]

SCARLET: Wow.
[gasps]
[whispering] Wow...
[Scarlet laughs]
Look, the bird!
Oh, yeah!
-Eew!
-[laughing]
[laughter]
Ah! It's not funny!
Look! I think I see
something moving!
Really? Where?
[gasps]
[whispering] Wow!
[echoing sounds]
Avila, um...I don't think
this's a good idea.
I wanna go back
to the lighthouse.
Come on, let's just go
a little bit farther.
Okay.
If you think it's a good idea...
[uneasy music]

[lighthouse horn blows]
[horn blowing]
[suspenseful music]

SCARLET: Hel-lo!
I said hello, hello!
Hello, hello, hello!
-Hello!
-[moaning]
AUTUMN: What was that?
AVILA: From that rock!
Look, sea lions!
[Autumn gasps]
Whoa!
AVILA: Look, it's so cute!
Aw!
[pup cries]
SCARLET: It's a baby sea lion!
AVILA: Oh, it's so tiny!
[oohing and ahhing]
SCARLET: Aw, it's so cute!
-[sea lion cries out]
-Oh--
[laughing]
Oh, wait, that's a big guy!
[sea lion barking]
[gasps]
Oh, no.
The sea lions are everywhere!
[quiet, flowing music]

Sea lion, sea lion,
sea lion, sea lion!
Sea lion, sea lion,
-sea lion, sea lion!
-Stop! Shh!
[growling, snarling]
-Stop!
-Sea lion!
Stop! You're gonna get them
angry!
[Scarlet barking]
Ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah!
[sea lions barking]
Lookit, they're playing!
AUTUMN:
Avila, they're not playing!
They're--they're fighting!
But they're so cute!
[Autumn whimpers]
Avila, let's get out of here!
[edgy music]

[gasps] The baby!
[pup crying]
AVILA: Oh, no!
Oh, no!
SCARLET: Clap, clap, clap--
-Aah!
-Aah!
[overlapping shouting]
-[grunting]
-[indistinct shouting]
SCARLET: Let's get outta here!
Avila, paddle!
Avila, let's get outta here!
[dramatic music]

[girls shouting indistinctly]
AVILA: Oh...Autumn!
AUTUMN: Don't leave us here!
Avila--wait!
-Oh!
-Aah!
-[crunch]
-Aah!
Aah!
[coughing]
[muffled scream]
[tense music]

[gasping, coughing]
SCARLET: The board!
[sea lions barking]
Aah--aah!
[whimpering]
AVILA: Autumn!
Go and get Scarlet!
[Scarlet whimpering]
SCARLET: [coughs] Autumn!
Autumn!
Scarlet, watch out!
AUTUMN: Aah!
[shrill yelling]
Autumn, where are you going?
AUTUMN: Go left! Go right!
SCARLET: Aah!
SCARLET: Avila!
Scarlet! I'll come get you!
SCARLET: Help me!
[crying]
Help!
Oh...oh...uh...uhh...
[muffled] Avila, help me!
Come on, that's it!
Help!
Help me!
Scarlet! Give me your hand!
It's so close!
Scarlet!
Oh!
[ominous chords]

Scarlet!
Avila!
[dark, dramatic music]
[waves booming]
Aah--aah!
[groaning]
[grunting]
[Autumn crying]
[gasps, coughs]
[coughing]
I can't! I can't do this!
It's too much!
I don't...I don't know if
Scarlet can make it or not.
AUTUMN: I saw her...
but I never grabbed her.
[crying]
AUTUMN: There's just
too many sea lions.
I thought I was gonna die.
[crying]
[AVILA] She's all alone.
Autumn, we really lost her!
[crying]
And I don't think
we can help her now.
Avila, maybe we could
go through this cave
and get some help
at the lighthouse.
Okay, but be careful.
Okay.
[uneasy music]

Hmm.
Autumn! Be careful!
The waves are getting bigger!
[Autumn grunting]
Avila, it's kinda tough here,
but I think we can make it.
It gets a lot bigger
on the other side.
Oh!
[pup crying]
[lighthouse horn blows]
[horn blowing]
[Scarlet whimpering]
[light music]

[Scarlet sighs, murmurs]
[screeching]
I wish you didn't throw away
my guacamole sandwich,
'cause now I'm starving.
AVILA: I'm sorry.
AUTUMN: At first, I didn't like
guacamole and jelly,
but then I tried it,
and it's really good.
Avila, you should still be
willing to try new stuff.
[gasps]
Here, Autumn.
What's this for?
It's delicious.
[gags]
AUTUMN: Eew.
[coughs]
AUTUMN: Eew. It's gross!
Eew!
[slurping]
[gagging]
I'm gonna throw up!
Ugh.
They're...
not bad, Autumn.
[coughs, gags]
It's actually pretty good.
Except it's a little...
like...rubbery.
AUTUMN: Mama?
Avila, do you remember
what Mommy looked like?
Yeah, of course I do.
Well, I forget.
Oh.
I try and I try and I try,
but I just can't see her face.
I look around,
but it's empty.
[chatter]
[chanting]
I'm worried
that I'm gonna forget Scarlet.
Autumn, we're not
gonna lose Scarlet.
Come here.
[soft music]
How much higher
is the water gonna get?
I don't know.
[waves rushing]
[gasps]
[barking]
Shoo! Shoo!
Shoo!
Go home!
[whimpering]
[whimpering]
[giggling]
Yay!
[laughing]
[upbeat, percussive music]
Ah!

-[barking]
-Huh?
Ah! Ohh!
Oh!
Hey! Stay closer!
[slow motion yelling]
[slow motion grunting]
Aah!
[Scarlet barking]

Don't take that wave!
Yeah-ha-ha!
Yay!
Huh? What is that?
[Scarlet grunting]
Oh, now he's behind me!
Oh, boy!
Where is it?
Oh, where did it go?
Aah!
Hey, don't hit me!
Aah! Oh, stop it!
[giggling]
Aah!
[suspenseful music]

[elephant seal growling]
[elephant seal growling]
[muffled] Aah!
Aah!
[growling]
[suspenseful music continues]

Ooh!
[giggling]
[giggling]
[growling]
[suspenseful music swells]
[music fades]
[growling]
[snarling]
Eh-eh-eh-eh...
Eh-ehhhhh!
[giggling]
-[laughter]
-Whoa!
[laughter continues]
[woman humming]
AVILA: Autumn, you wanna
go catch tadpoles?
AUTUMN: Uh, maybe later.
AVILA: Oh, no, no, no!
-It's a dead end!
-What does that mean?
Autumn, we're stuck!
[sobs]
Autumn, we're stuck.
We could try going back
to the sea lions...
but they might eat us.
Oh, I remember when you
thought they were really cute.
-[distant barking]
-[gasps]
[distant growling]
[moaning]
Avila, what are we gonna do?
Maybe...maybe we could
swim under.
Let me, uh, check.
[inhales]
[inhales]
Okay.
Looks like we can swim out.
Avila, um...how long is that?
It looks like it's about
half a football field.
Well, how long
is a football field?
Well, how long
can you hold your breath?
Um...seven Mississippies?
AVILA: Okay.
[inhales, exhales]
If we count seven Mississippies
real slow,
we might be able to make it.
[crying]
[tearfully] Okay, are you
ready to do this?
One, two, three.
[inhales]
[Autumn muffled] Okay.
Real slow.
[blows]
[stirring music]

[muffled gasping]
[gasps]
[muffled] Avila!
[muffled] Autumn!
Avila!
[muffled shouting]
Avila!
[gasps, coughs]
[coughing]
Avila, look!
AVILA: Oh, my goodness!
-We made it!
-Yay!
Come on, let's get outta here.
[uplifting music]

[lighthouse horn blows]
SCARLET:
Look! The lighthouse!
AVILA: Yay, we made it!
-Yay!
-We made it!
We made it, Autumn!
Wait.
[echoing] Wait...wait...
How're we gonna
get out of here?
Out of here...out of here...
AUTUMN: I don't know.
[echoing] Don't know...
[Scarlet laughing]
Ha ha ha ha ha ha!
Ha ha ha ha ha.
Ha ha ha ha ha!
[giggling]
[squeals]
AUTUMN: Climb up.
Let's go to Avila.
AUTUMN: Avila, I don't know
if this is a good day to paint.
AVILA: Mm, I probably
think it is.
SCARLET: It has been raining.
It's made it slippery.
AVILA:
Oh, no, don't touch these.
Don't touch these, okay?
Don't touch.
[anticipatory music]

[wood creaking]
[giggling]
[Autumn whimpering]
Ah--
[breathing hard]
Aah!
[cry echoes]
[groaning]
[uneasy music]
[Autumn moans]
Ohh...
[birds calling distantly]
[lighthouse horn blows]
AVILA: Don't worry--it's like
climbing our old treehouse.
[gasps]
Oh!
Come here, Autumn.
You ready? One, two...
Here, get my hand.
Whoa! You won't believe it!
Autumn, there's a whole
tractor up here!
It looks like it fell through
the roof!
-There's a tractor?
-It's a front loader, actually!
What's the difference?
AVILA: Huh?
-Aah! Aah! Aah!
- Oh, no!
I hate crabs!
Aah!
Autumn, are you okay?
Help me!
AVILA: I saw a rope up there.
I'll go get it.
[tense music]

Lower!
It's stuck!
I'm gonna see
if I can get it free.
I found the rope!
Got it--
Aah! Avila!
-Hurry!
-Ohh! Hang on for a moment!
Yes, I'm hanging on!
AVILA: Ugh! Some people
can be so pushy!
[gasps]
Ohh! Is that a--
Aah!
Are you holding on?
Whoa!
Avila!
What are you doing up there?
[Avila coughing]
Eew! Get off of me!
[coughing]
Eew, eew, eew!
[coughing]
[wheel squeaks]
Eew, gross, gross, gross!
Gross! Ugh.
Poor guy.
[groaning]
Got it! Aah!
Aah!
[continues screaming]
AVILA: The rope!
Aah!
Avila, help me!
Aah!
[suspenseful music]

Avila, lift me up!
I'm dropping!
I can't pull you up anymore!
-It's stuck!
-Oh!
Maybe I can swing to the side.
[grunting]
Oh, no. No, don't swing!
The tractor's gonna fall on you!
AUTUMN:
I thought it was a front loader!
It is! The front loader's
gonna fall on you!
Whoa...oh...
Stay still!
[groaning] Oh...
Aah!
No! Don't swing!
Help me!
-[clunking]
-Aah!
Autumn! Stay still!
What do you think I'm doing?
I said stop moving!
I'm staying perfectly still!
If you're not moving
the tractor, then who is?
[clanking]
Oh...crab.
Autumn!
There's a crab on the lever!
What?
There's a crab on the lever?
[indistinct yelling]
[clanking]
Don't do it...don't do it.
[gasps]
[suspenseful music swells]
AVILA: Don't--no, don't do it.

Ohh...I hate crabs.
Aah!
[muffled] Aah!
Autumn! Autumn!
Don't leave me! Autumn!
[crying]
[melancholy music]

Autumn!
[giggling]
[whispering] It's gonna be...
a grand
"aventure."
I promise.
[soft music]
[giggling]
[gasping]
[coughing]
[birds calling]
[gasps]
Huh?
Scarlet?
Scarlet!
Scarlet!
Scarlet, where are you?
Scarlet!
[gasps]
Footprints!
Aah!
Oh...oh...
Scar-let!
Scarlet!
Scarlet!
Where are you?
[growling]
Oh!
[grunting]
Aah! Aah! Aah!
Ohh...
[shudders, whimpers]
[elephant seals grunting]
Aw, gross!
They're monsters!
[growling]
Horrible fishy monsters.
[elephant seals
continue fighting]
[softly] Scarlet...
where are you?
[light music]

Raaaah!
Scarlet?
Scarlet, I'm coming for you!
Whoa--aah!
[whimpering]
Aah!
[laughing]
Uh--Scarlet?
Stop! Stop, Scarlet.
Stop!
No. No, no, no, no--no!
No, don't touch it!
[Scarlet giggling]
Scarlet, what do you think
you're doing?
Get away!
No! Don't do that!
Scarlet!
Scarlet!
Noooooooo!
[echoing]
oooooh...
Autumn?
No! No, don't do that!
AVILA: Scarlet?
-Stop it, stop it!
SCARLET: Ah! What are you
trying to do?
AUTUMN: Don't do it, Scarlet.
-I thought we were friends.
Stop that! Ow!
Pffft! Stop that!
AVILA: I'll save you!
[grunting]
Stop it!
-Stop it!
-[grunting]
I said stop it!
Scarlet, Autumn!
I'm coming for you!
Okay, I'm gonna get you.
Oh, that's a lotta sea lions.
Hi, Autumn! Hi!
Hey, Autumn,
do you wanna meet my friend?
[Autumn whimpers]
SCARLET: He's really nice.
[laughing]
[Autumn whimpers]
[sea lion grunts]
What do I do?
You better not hurt my sister!
I'm gonna get you!
Avila?
AVILA: Scarlet!
-Huh?
Autumn, I'll save you!
Take this!
Don't throw the rock!
No, no, don't throw the rocks!
Avila!
-Stop!
-Stop it, Avila!
Avila, please.
You're gonna hurt my friend!
AUTUMN: Stop, Avila!
Don't do it, please!
What?
Don't...throw...rocks!
Oh, okay!
I'll go and get a big one.
No, no, come back!
Don't throw anything!
Don't worry.
It's gonna be okay.
I'm sorry she hurt you.
Normally, she's a lot nicer.
Scarlet, you gotta get off
that seal right now!
If she throws that rock down,
and-and it's gonna get
really angry!
Tell Avila to stop!
She's not listening to me!
No one listens to me!
Fine, I'll get off.
Whoa-whoa--ow!
Come on, she's gonna eat you!
I'm going as quick as I can.
Oh...ooh...oh!
It's slippery! Whoa!
Scarlet, get off, right now!
[dramatic music]

[sea lion snuffling]
[grunting]
Oh--whoa!
Scarlet, run!
[growling]
Aah!
I can't watch!
I can't look, I can't look!
[both animals snarling]
I can't look, I can't look.
I can't look,
I can't look!
Aah!
I'm coming, Scarlet!
Oh!
[yelling indistinctly]
[dramatic music swells]

[both screaming]
Aah!
Did you see the size
of those guys?
They were huge!
[Autumn laughing]
Come on, Scarlet.
Let's get to the light house,
see if Avila has any more
bright ideas.
Sometimes her help
is not that helpful.
[snarling, growling]
SCARLET: Ooh...
Ohh...
[rocks clattering]
[both whimpering]
[panting, whimpering]
SCARLET: I can't do this.
I'm gonna fall!
I-it's okay, Scarlet.
I'll help you.
Get on my back.
[Scarlet whimpering]
[soft music]
[both giggling]

[Autumn groaning]
SCARLET:
Avila, we're coming up!
Avila!
Where are you?
Avila!
Please, God...
can you help me find Avila?
[dramatic orchestration]

[metallic clunk]
[power up hum]

Ow! I can't see!
[distantly] Help! Hey, help!
[Scarlet screams]
Aah! Aah!
[dramatic music]
Whoa-whoa--
[girls screaming,
Avila groaning]
[strangled cry]

[all giggling]
Avila, where did you go?
I thought I was gonna die!
Well, I had to go
to the bathroom.
I've been holding it for like
the last hour or two.
[both laughing]
Yippee!
The light house!
[horn blows]
Oh, my gosh, we made it!
- It's so magical!
- It's so magical!
[laughing]
[quiet, uplifting music]
[gasps]
Wow!
[gasps]
[whispering] Wow.
Avila...
Let's go home.
[laughter]
[uplifting music swells]

SCARLET: We made it!
AVILA: Yay! We made it!
The light house!
SCARLET: Hello, hello, hello!
-Yay!
-Hello?
AVILA: Great. It's locked.
AUTUMN:
Well, what do we do now?
SCARLET: Hello, hello, hello!
Hello!
Oh, come here, you guys.
Maybe we could go
through a window.
AUTUMN: Oh, that's a really,
really good idea.
Scarlet, come here.
Come on.
I'm gonna push you up.

Scarlet!
Open the door!
Hi, guys!
Scarlet, not right there!
Come down at this door!
Oh, okay!
Sorry!

[murmuring indistinctly]
[giggling]
Yay! Thanks, Scarlet!
[Scarlet giggling]
Come on in.
[giggling]
AVILA:
Come on, let's go home.
Hel-lo!
[Scarlet giggling]
AUTUMN:
I can't wait to get home!
SCARLET: Mr. light house keeper!
Are you here?
Hello?
AVILA: Hel-lo!
We're here!
It's just a big light bulb.
There's no grownups here.
What? No grownups here?
Let me see!
Where are you,
Mr. light house keeper?
[groans] The grownups
are supposed to be saving us!
[groans] It's not fair!
Mr. light house keeper,
we're here!
Hello!
[distantly] Hello! We're here!
Hello! Hello!
Any grownups? Hello?
We're here!
Hello!
[crying]
"Automated."
It's all my fault.
[sobbing]
SCARLET: It's okay.
Don't worry, Autumn.
This light house is automated.
Oh, it's auto-mated!
[sobbing]
What does that mean?
Means when, like...
[sniffles]
means when, like, um...
it's like robotic and like,
you know, by controls on it.
Oh.
I make everything horrible.
Scarlet almost got killed
by that elephant seal
and got almost...
and we almost died from
from the cave.
And also...
you didn't get adopted.
We have to take her home
right now.
-She's so perfect.
-I know she's perfect.
WIFE: She's perfect.
They don't have space
for all three of you.
It's my fault. I...
I made a mistake in the forms,
and they thought it was
only you.
Nobody wants three girls.
Nobody. It's too much.
[soft, emotional music]

Autumn, you don't understand.
I calmed them down...
and they are going to
take you anyway.
What?
You saved me!
You will be leaving tomorrow.
They were gonna take me away.
No, I--No, no, I don't wanna go.
Avila, you don't have a choice.
Oh.
If you hadn't taken us,
I'd be all alone.
No, I'm not going!
I'm not going.
I'm staying right here
with my sisters.
You kept our family together.
I'd rather die
than leave my sisters.
Oh.
I love you.
I love you.
I love you too.
I love everyone.
[Autumn laughs]
It looks like we're gonna
be staying here for a while.
AUTUMN:
What are we gonna eat out here?
SCARLET: Seals!
NARRATOR: Many youngsters
will not survive
their first year.
The weaker ones
will not find enough food.
There'll be accidents...
Aah!
Unsuspecting predators
will attack...
Aah!
NARRATOR:
And there will be orphans.
But along the way,
it's certainly going to be
a very grand adventure.
[laughter]
[laughter continues]
Hi!
[upbeat singing in Spanish]
[Gaby Moreno's' Las Fronteras]

This is where I belong
This is where I belong
[singing continues in Spanish]
-Aah!
-Aah!

[singing in Spanish continues]

[chanting]
-Rah!
-Rah!
Ha ha ha ha ha ha!
[birds crying]
[yelling and laughing]
[chanting, laughing]
[birds calling, waves lapping]
