Thanks again for agreeing to stay late

It's no problem, Lou.
I'm really used over time.
I'll see you tomorrow.
All right.
Okay, baby.
Tell me what you need.
Okay.
No. They can never keep me down.
I'm going in.
If I have a fender snow, I'll kill a king.
I never quit. Cause I know that
everybody loves me To another woman.
I'm going No up a bit when I let it go.
Tell me it's lucky. Give me that I'm
winning this. I didn't want to say
so. You
want me to believe you Listen to once
we win again and win again and win again.
It wasn't me
winning.
We needed a winner.
They came to me and they moved
with me.
I thought you left
Lou Lewis.
Not funny, man.
Dark forwarded to an automatic voice
message.
After the tone,
please record your message.
That's right.
That's right.
One, one, one.
You can just take your
engine.
You will need a lot of men high school
for you to watch
what I'm doing under the sun again.
God give and give them seeds to win.
The running mate may make the honey pay.
Well, you know what it's like.
It's always
my take to take it.
A high five go down way behind a city
gripped in fear as a relentless serial
killer prowls our streets.
Lock your doors,
stay vigilant and join us as we dive
into the heart of this chilling mystery.
The case of a serial killer on the loose.
Five people have been shot to death.
Local businesses are feeling the impact,
with many closing the doors
early and citizens altering their routines
to avoid venturing out after dark.
The signature of a serial killer
is one distinct aspect of the crimes
they commit, but not necessary
for them to accomplish their goals
anyway.
I hope that answers your questions.
Kelly from Ohio.
Tune in again on our podcast
every Wednesday night for more true crime.
And of course, continue focus analysis
of the crimes committed here in our city.
Goodnight Neighbors.
I'm Marcus Freeman.
I love watching you work, babe,
but it's time for bed.
I got one little piece I got to do.
No bed, no.
I'll take the balls.
Deputy Chief wanted me to come down
and help out the mechanics.
I read up on the case files,
and I think I'm all caught up.
It's running right
on one hand, we could use all the help
we can get on this case.
On the other hand, the killer's
been on the loose for five years.
I'm not sure where they close to solving
this thing than we were five years ago.
I was looking at the patterns of behavior
all that night.
All the victims were alone in a murder.
Weapons were left on the scene.
So they're just random.
Either that or so.
Well plan that the killer knows
what weapons will be used on
site.
Imagine premeditated murder.
You go into a place like a mechanic shop,
you know, there's objects in there
that are blunt, that are heavy,
that can be used as murder weapons.
One of the victims
had a switchblade in his gym bag, though.
What do we know about this
other victim, Manny?
Young kid,
No record, no beef with anybody.
Didn't know anybody, any money.
His boss, Lou, said he was a great worker,
good kid,
showed up to work on time,
worked very hard,
was working his way through tech school,
hoping to own his own business
one day, said damn shame
and no witnesses, no suspects.
Not even Lou, not at the moment.
He was saying on camera
coming out the grocery store
by shift workers.
Around about 10 p.m.,
the man, his girlfriend went to the shop
to get him at 12 midnight
and that's when she saw
she'll be coming in in the morning
to give us some more information.
I don't think it's going to go
anywhere, though.
The shop didn't have any cameras.
Yes, but they haven't been functional
for four years.
None of the victims have a common thing
other than being alone at night.
No witnesses,
no cameras on sight,
no fingerprints, no hair traces, no DNA.
So there's no one else to talk to about.
This is what you're telling me.
There is one person
I got to go take care of some business.
You mean come with you?
Not this time.
Yeah.
With two murders and with a calling card.
The boot.
You know,
it may be pretty much safe to say
that we actually have
a serial killer on our hands.
But until then,
I'm Marcus Freeman.
Well,
maybe you could say the name of the show
at the end.
Yeah, It's my 50 listeners
Probably will like that.
Marcus, honey,
do you think you can make money with this?
Come on, Mom, it's only been three months.
I just think something that others
don't have.
Something to give me an edge.
Okay,
well, I'll call her today.
Yeah, I'm nervous that she won't like it,
but not about saying yes.
I know.
I'm going to ask her afterwards. Mom.
Well,
if she gets upset, she has every right to.
She helped me build this show with this.
I mean, it's not just her.
Yeah, okay.
Got to go.
I love you, too.
I don't think this counts
as our first fight
because it was not a date.
I was your tutor, Marcus.
And like I said, Dad,
that would be highly inappropriate.
Not that inappropriate.
It's not like biology
was that important class from my degree.
No. It was just a requi class.
And I was your official tutor, so.
No, not a date.
Okay.
All right, well,
this is not our official date spot,
and this is not our official
eighth anniversary date, then.
No, this is just a nice little late
lunch, early dinner
before I go see my patients.
I actually.
It's not just dinner.
You know,
this may not be our first official day
spot, but this is why I fall over
this is the very first time
that we've met in person.
This is where you spoke those words to me,
and I was instantly yours.
When I asked if you were the Marcus
that's failing biology.
Okay, maybe not the first.
Okay, that makes sense.
You said the first thing I need to know
was that I was not a failure,
but I was a valuable
and worthwhile human being.
And then you asked if I had any questions
about that, And you said you didn't.
And then proceeded to ask so,
so many questions.
Well, I have one more.
You know,
eight years ago, I
fell in love with a guy compassionate
and just drop dead gorgeous woman.
You know, somehow I've loved
you ever since.
Vanessa Hutton.
Will you marry me? Yes.
How nice.
They shared a plane that's going.
Let's just get away. Don't keep me away.
How dare you do this before I go to work?
Sorry.
You know, I wanted it to be a surprise
and I want it to be today.
And then you went.
Took an extra shift.
This is my fault, basically. Okay.
You like it, right?
I love it.
I love you.
I love our life.
Me too.
No witnesses,
no leads, no evidence.
Yeah,
I don't think we even have any motive.
Maybe it's lust
or a need for control.
One of
the things we also have to think about is
maybe this guy's just suffering
from delusions of grandeur.
Remember David Berkowitz?
Most people remember that guy
that guy said
that he was receiving instructions
from his neighbor's dog.
Yeah, his neighbor's dog.
But most people don't remember
Polly Bartlett.
She was the one who actually was poisoning
these wealthy businessmen
who stayed to her head
just for a little cash.
So everybody has a motive,
you know,
But you would think by now, after
five years and 13 murders
and with all the technology that we have,
would cameras in the air and that
we will have found this killer by now.
But that brings me to a closed this up.
So I have just wanted to play
if you have
any information
that can help us catch this killer,
I encourage you to call the police
at five,
five, five, six, nine, six, five.
That's five, five, five, six, nine, 650.
Workers once again together.

I am columnist.
Let's talk about Mary Jo
who easy the man
I've been trying to put in a chair hours
while but even had a conversation.
Sorry, man.
I just had to do some follow up
at the garage.
They didn't even do.
No, not really.
Hey, how about you be?
Well, yeah,
you always have some been inside the ship.
That's where we have a free lunch today.
Just watch us all eliminate, please.
Any safe, Right. You got it.
Hey, mate,
I'm not happy to have this impromptu lunch
with you.
A WhatsApp man.
Sorry for the last minute advice,
as is some important
any thought to be by a person.
People. I'm in a sperm.
I proposed to Vanessa.
Finally
she said yes.
So she did.
While you know there's
a lot of the wedding planning stuff.
So you want me to be your best man?
Of course. Grow.
Obviously, I'm in there
and have a lot of fun
playing this bachelor party.
I It's okay.
Settle down, man.
So I want to hire an adoring females.
This guy was it got to the news,
You know,
I was actually thinking about the show.
This.
You know, it's not that serious, bro.
I just had a passing thought
misplacing it
or, you know, to show
250 is coming up soon.
Yeah.
So you planning some big reveal,
some surprise or something?
You know, I was just thinking,
what if it's the last episode?
Yeah.
So I dismiss so inconsistent.
People come and go.
I just know.
So you just going to give up?
Were you just
going to walk away from the job?
What are you, the bad guys man?
You're the detective.
Yeah, but we started this path together.
Way back. We go way back.
We had plans,
you know, man,
it was just a passing thought.
Do me a favor.
Just let it pass.
Hi, Math.
It's just guilty sometimes.
As much as I like
having fun and talk to
you guys every week,
I forget that these are real crimes
and affecting real people.
And when I think about the
families
that are suffering out there every day
because of loss, wasn't
the victims that have died.
I mean, these guys are having nightmares.
They're doing everything they can
just to get by.
I just find it wrong.
Yes, you may to profit off their misery.
I struggle with that.
I have struggle with that since day one.
From the very first episode.
As for that reason,
I've decided to wrap up the podcast
in the next couple of weeks.
You guys probably seen on my website
that I've got a poll out there
asking for what I should do next.
You guys have been so gracious and kind.
You guys have came up
with all kinds of ideas,
but by far the leading thing right
now is to become a mailman.
So I want to thank you guys.
I want to thank you guys for the Love
You show
and for all the great comments
that you share with me as well
and really trying to convince me
to stay on with the podcast.
You know,
I just find it funny that, boy, what
I want to say starts off like that.
Okay. Okay.
Listen, you went ahead and asked your
subscribers about it before talking to me.
Can we please not fight about this?
Who's fighting?
Come on, baby.
I was just testing the waters.
Just a little poll. I did, you know.
Come on, a win.
Okay, well, the next time you have a swim,
maybe you should talk
to your fiancee about it
and not your fans.
Well,
they weren't too happy about it either.
Good.
I mean,
I knew some people wouldn't
support the decision, but.
Okay, so a decision has been made then,
because I thought we were still discussing
this.
Marcus, we are.
When you call the police,
those people out, these crazy theories
about my neighbor, Mrs. B
Yeah, sure.
She walks her cats, she shuffles
down the street slower than a turtle,
but she's not capable of these murders.
Trust me on that.
Until next Wednesday.
Stay home and stay safe.
My people.
See you there.
I'm homeless.
Right.
I'm Mr.
Freeman.
Gospel speaker.
Next week
saw me get this straight.
Your fiancee says it's not the right time.
Your best friend says
it's not the right time.
And yet
you think it is the right time.
Yes. I'm not sure if I even want to do it.
I don't know if there is a right time.
How about after you catch the killer?
Maybe
that's just been years.
Years? Yeah.
And those years
have been good to you, Marcus.
They've been good to us.
I know.
I love our life.
I do know.
Maybe I can help you a little bit.
A little more.
You guys,
have you read or seen the news somewhere?
Our city serial killer struck again.
Why are you listening to a stupid podcast
so loud you can't even hear me
just ignoring you?
And it ain't stupid.
What type of cop
watch is a true crime podcast?
The type that would take an armful?
He can get on the killer,
walk on the streets of the city.
Isn't there a disclaimer that says for
entertainment purposes only?
Yeah, partner, I think it's a dead end
so far.
But he only has to slip up once.
Who is he?
The killer
to talk about him?
Workers, Children.
Shooting point
store watcher Hooper or owners?
You show up the storm.
Is this weird or
why should we ask this long term?
This seems
simple.
It's the fragility of innocence,
the symbol,
fragility of innocence.
10 million views in the last 28 days.
The comforting question is do
seriously, though, one day barely
stutter through an episode
of the OC
on an old laptop
at your mom's spot and suddenly
you're Joe Rogan of true crime.
Thanks.
I think you blew up, man.
I mean, that's great,
but what's your secret, man?
Good friends like you,
for sure.
All right, I get up.
A magician never reveals this trick.
You know that?
Come on, now, What we talking about?
You know for sure.
You know.
Look, man,
my ride is here.
It's all good.
You need help down steps, man.
You got jokes.
Look, man, you got a package out here.
I think that you're right.
Is it something nefarious, bro?
Something kinky.
There.
Kinky?
It is.
Hey, Marcus,
I got serious question for you.
Is it sweet little something
for Vanessa?
The way I will go get you, beauty rest.
You waited up for me
and he made me a late dinner.
Someone's
really trying to earn some brownie points,
I hate it when we fight and do,
Mark.
Yeah, but what you think about
not the
Sounds
like you got something on your mind.
Nurse,
I hate springing this on you,
but we're going to be married.
When we started, the family.
I just have some safety concerns.
How are you? What are you.
Are you saying
Okay,
Marcus, we've talked about this.
The show is a good thing. Is it?
How could it not be?
You're educating the community.
You're making them feel safer,
making my show popular
and the police suspicious,
but we're nowhere close to catch them.
The killer.
He may be motivated by fame.
I may be even encouraging him.
Same.
I think the motivation is a little deeper
than that.
What?
I live with the Marcus Freeman.
I can't speculate. Motive.
Okay, let's hear.
Okay.
You say that
the serial killer has no specific M.O.
or any of the typical patterns
of victim selection that explains
any sort of motive
other than what the need for control.
Right.
The seemingly random victim
selection is a pattern itself.
And maybe the motivation
is what's creating
the chaos of the different murder weapons.
The lack of a pattern is the pattern.
It could be
I mean, all of the murder weapons
are convenient
to the crime scene, right?
Crimes of convenience
for actual pattern.
Beautiful and brilliant.
Hogg is so lucky, and I have no idea.
Okay, so
we're not canceling the show then, right?
I just. What's your plan B, Marcus?
You're the one talking about
starting a family and doing all this.
I'll figure it out. Really?
What else are you good at?
All right.
I plan to make it all the way to episode
to 50
before
starting to call it a podcast career.
I just don't know if I could make it
that long.
You see, for most of you guys,
this is entertaining.
Is entertaining for you.
It's also entertaining for me as well.
I get it.
You want to escape whatever reality
that you're dealing with.
But for me,
when I sign off, man,
sometimes I feel like
I've just gotten in too deep
and I can't get out.
So I may jump off
or back on from time to time
just to say hi,
but also maybe just jump on
just to give you guys an update
on my mail delivery and services
that you guys are so fun to.
But I won't be discussing
any more crime scenes or serial killers
or anything like that.
I just can't anymore.
So I have a confession to make.
Yeah?
What is that?
You're a serial killer? No.
Even worse,
I listen to your friend Marcus's podcast
a couple of times.
I hate to admit it.
It's actually pretty good.
He has a lot of good information on there,
but it doesn't make you curious at all
that he knows so much about murders
and serial killers.
Marcus is a smart guy.
Me and Marcus go way back.
I went back to high school.
In college,
we took up criminal justice together.
He was the top of his class.
I don't know why he didn't
want to become a detective.
Maybe he knows so much
because he's the one doing the murders.
What the hell gave you that idea,
Williams?
I've known Marcus for a long time.
I've known him better than anyone
that's given birth to him.
He's not a serial killer.
Come on.
No one knows somebody is a serial killer
until they're caught.
You never heard anybody say,
I knew
Gary was the killer from the first murder.
You think you know someone
until you don't.
Okay, Hercules Pilot
So what in the world do you think?
Because, Marcus, to kill that many people
and then make a podcast about it.
That's exactly it.
I've been doing some digging,
some real detective work, I may add.
And do we know how much Marcus
is making off of this?
I just made a couple of calls
to some sponsors.
He's making a little over
ten K an episode.
Marcus is not out here killing 15 people
just to make half a million dollars calls.
And me, you both know money talks.
So what book
have you been reading this time?
The field your head up
with such incredible ideas, notebooks.
This time, Jake.
Just a school of.
I'm out here in these streets
trying to catch a serial killer.
Maybe you should come out sometimes
in the streets.
These streets
connecting the dots.
Yet also,
Marcus was interviewed already
five years ago when the murders started.
There was no evidence that
I'll keep a close watch on him.
I'll stick close by.
So. Yeah,
Yeah,
I said, I'm quitting, bro.
Decision me margin, man.
Just listen.
Thanks. I'm
just a second.
It's work.
I also
interesting.
Yeah.
Okay.
Yeah,
We'll catch up now.
Nothing exciting.
You about to help me understand
the worst decision
you'll ever make?
This is a monologue,
so I get one every week.
For how long?
For forever.
For five years since Mom's house.
Bro, that means no more your ass.
Leave.
Are you okay, Mrs.
Brown?
Yes, I'm just fine, Thank you.
She still Walker cats?
Yes, she does.
On there.
No, man, I don't know.
I got a lot of thinking to do.
Don't hurt yourself.
Downtown early this evening.
It seems our local
serial killer has struck again
outside a popular cafe.
Hey, Molly Morgan lost her life tonight.
Yeah, In our social room, I saw signature
calling card that is haunted.
Yeah. I don't know. Several years now.
Okay, I got to go.
Yeah, Just get with Vanessa.
Yeah. Sorry, I.
I love you.
Okay, Miss Spry,
this is too much for.
And then you set off the car alarm,
That was the first thing that came to
mind.
Just had the foot, the breaker outside.
Well, it appears to me
that the alarm scared away
whoever was there.
Which means
whoever is
there is still out there somewhere.
What you want me to do, officer?
All right, all right.
Thank you, Officer.
You all right? Man?
Yeah, I'm okay, man.
You see the news the waitress?
Yeah.
I was just about to call you about that.
You have any inside info on that one? Nah.
Or at least not yet.
I used to get some about a day
later. This.
This is the first time the victim has been
someone you've known, right?
Well, I didn't actually know her,
but yeah, it's the first time
that I've had any interaction with anyone.
What's up, man?
Yeah,
I don't know.
Hey, baby. Okay. Yeah,
We'll have a car outside all night.
I'll talk with you in the morning.
Okay?
All right.
Hey, listen,
so are you a serial killer?
What the hell?
I mean, you did have motive
and opportunity,
my friend.
Just what might that be, Sherlock,
I've been reading this book
about forensic and interviewing.
Boy.
It specifically talks about the jealousy
that law enforcement officers
may harbor to our news anchors
and other people who get the spotlight
and more attention and accolades
compared to, you know,
you. Wow.
Jealousy,
Right.
GREEN You are something else.
It talks about interviewing
law enforcement,
just asking the suspect and seeing
how defensive they get.
Just saying
if that book you got is telling you
to accuse your partner of being a killer
in the middle of the night,
you need to burn it.
Vanessa, I know you're out here.
Probably this is pretending to be sleeping
and you're taking that as an endorsement
for your behavior.
Marcus, This is my new partner, Ronnie.
Ronnie Marcus.
The podcast guy, the serial killer expert.
What happened to Jeremy Transfer
in Wilmington?
Yeah. Yep.
We're only here until sunrise.
Right? Till 9 a.m..
What's that?
That's when the mail comes.
Look, it's not safe out there.
Just happen to back.
Well,
when I got up to check on your voice
last night out in the car, I noticed
your laptop was open and happened to see
you were researching some things.
Well, maybe writing a book.
Just research, man.
So you would be the
one writing the book, then.
So you don't like the idea?
It's not that. I just.
I need some time
to formulate an opinion about the idea.
So it's not the worst idea ever.
It's the worst idea ever.
You know, writing a book is time consuming
like that.
I don't want to fight.
Neither do I.
I think it would be more about me being me
and hosting a show like this.
Then maybe it's a good idea.
Wait, really? Yes.
But I also think you should
continue the podcast
and the two could go hand in hand. Okay.
Because I don't want to fight back.
I'm just going to go to the studio.
Okay, Well,
we can talk about this more tomorrow.
Tomorrow is burrito day.
I thought we're going to go to the cafe.
Okay.
One, those burritos are nasty.
And also, I picked up another shift.
They're paying double to cover
for some call, often what the company
thinks is a rough neighborhood.
If I told you, you probably did Horror
rough of neighborhood.
Nothing I can't handle.
I got to get going, though.
I need to stop by downtown and pick up
some meds with patients tomorrow.
Then you know you are way too horrible.
I know.
And today's victim
shows signs
that the killer tried to burn the emblem.
While some speculate that
these changes indicate
that of a copycat killer
or even more than one,
police have confirmed that
there is not significant evidence enough
to support that theory.
What what's up out there?
Let's go ahead and get started.
Hey, that's that's my stuff.
Well, you go.
I don't want any trouble.
Hey, Jake.
Yeah, I'm actually just getting the mail.
Yeah, that's the place.
It's my first job back in the day.
Yeah?
Yeah.
Sun took over Star Trek when he died.
Nice enough, kid.
What for?
Well, you should probably come over that
might have to say something
to somebody, man.
I just need time, I guess.
Just take time to think.
Is when
the more time passes, the more suspicious
it looks if I don't you?
Yeah, man. Come on.
Nobody is going to believe
I had good reason not to report anything.
I don't know.
I just don't know, man. Yup.
Your viewers depend on you to swoop in,
especially when there's another murder.
Everyone counts on you for that.
Everyone who matters.
If the Tates get out.
Folks know I watched that podcast.
They know we're best friends.
And then there's Ronnie.
Ronnie's already acting
like I know something that he don't know.
I'm worried, man.
I'm really wary.
And I
miss my mom.
I've been dodging her all day.
Yeah,
Take it.
Sorry.
Hey, Mom.
Yeah,
Okay.
Marcus Leonard
Freeman, You can put that phone away
while you're visiting me,
Sorry, Mom.
I just need to text Vanessa here.
I made you some lemonade.
Thanks, Mom.
I guess I should be thanking you
for finally stopping by to see me.
Sorry, Mom was just busy.
Too busy to call or send a text.
You hate texts. True.
But you know what I hate more not knowing
if my son is alive or dead.
Sorry, Mom.
I do better.
I know you will, sweetheart.
Now, how's everything going?
Fine.
You know, the wedding work?
Just keeping me busy.
Well, you look tired.
Lost like you
driving down the highway
and you don't know which exit to take.
And of course, you refuse
to stop to ask for directions.
I've asked Mom.
Don't worry about me,
baby.
That's like asking the sun not to shine.
You have never been greeted,
letting anyone take care of you.
Maybe that's my fault, Mom.
No, no.
I had to work a lot
when you were growing up.
You had to do a lot of things
for yourself and by yourself.
And I have felt guilty
about that every day of my life.
You know that.
But you know what?
I do feel disappointed.
No, not at all.
Proud, baby.
I am so proud of you.
Thanks, Mom.
Come on, now.
You know what?
I'm going to go make you something to eat.
Mom. No, Vanessa, there's plenty of room
in there for you to eat twice.
Just a little snack with your mama.
Come on.
Here.
Your late
attacks. You bet.
My mom insisted that I stay a while.
So you had no option but to see them,
She's my mom. Dad?
Yes, Marcus.
She is your mother.
And you are a grown adult man with the
fiancee more ignored, more recalled.
I'm taking bait.
She says.
He's taking care of me
when they're sick and worry about me not
taking a phone call is not going to help.
She's a single mom with a child.
She says she's taken care of.
You know what, Marcus?
You are such a mama's boy.
You can't even appreciate it.
The fact
that I'm the one taking care of you now.
Me? No.
Hi. I was calling to see
if you had a room available
just a couple of nights.
Just one.
Okay.
Is cash okay?
Okay, great.
In a few minutes.
Marcus.
Take care, Marcus.
Marcus Simpson.
Ted, you've got to start
going through conference
live podcast.
Obviously,
you were all discourses of silence.
Hold for the moment particulars
of the workers dire consequences.
Sure to increase their earnings.
Restore your trust.
This growth is the real truth.
It will take workers.
We are to three workers for jobs truly
continue to show
the world the horse of the dirt.
Yes, Let's not fight.
Okay.
I have something really,
really important
I need to talk to you about.
I just want to.
I just.
There's something I have to do.
And I don't want to do it
when I talk to you first.
Can I see
my daughter know
my daughter?
I'm gonna give you guys
a minute here for your notifications
to let you know that I'm going
live with my stranger.
We need to
talk, man.
I have.
Be completely honest
with you guys.
My intentions
must not hurt anyone.
I've got.
I was helping
her, actually.
You want see with help
and I should see I.
They even accepted it.
So. So here it is.
For five years,
five whole years.
I sent the package
on my front porch every week.
I realized they were audio recordings.
It was the actual cell truck,
the murders.
So when
it felt like I knew more
than most people did,
because I did
know what else.
No. Think about this.
No one,
just me
for that.
I'm so, so sorry.
That's for us.
Pardon?
Sorry.
How can I help you?
I was in the neighborhood
and I was asked to come by,
ask you some questions
about your radio show podcast.
It's not a rate. Never mind.
Whatever
you need, I can come down to the station.
Look, that won't be necessary.
Let's just talk.
I can do better than that.
Here you go.
So these.
These are.
I'm assuming they're from the.
Yes, ma'am.
Okay,
Nurse, please, please.
If you're mad, Fine.
Okay.
But just text me
and let me know that you're okay.
Take.
Listen, man, I'm freaking out.
I need you to answer this.
Call me, man.
Well,
let's just stay calm now.
Stay calm. Are you serious?
The plot unravels
and the story gets closer.
If you ever want to see her alive again,
let me say it again.
That the plot
unravels in the story,
gets closer and closer at home.
Follow the clues.
If you want to see her alive again.
She has a man.
Ex-girlfriend. That's a
No. One.
Has he ever.
Has there been any other riddles,
any other notes, clues.
Clues? What clues?
What is he talking about, man?
Now what?
I don't even know what I'm looking
for, man.
Hey, Marcus,
over here.
Look,
you're one step closer,
but still at least three steps behind me.
The plot thickens,
as you realize, to plant the next clue.
I was inside your home.
Inside your home.
Also.
Seriously?
Not sure if I can.
Got it.
I'll be right here.
Where else do you have to be, then?
Right here. That's.
That's a complicated matter.
I'm not at liberty. Discuss, Marcus.
Do. If you walk out the door,
don't expect to come back.
Sorry, man.
Hopefully I can sleep with.
Where will he go?
Three steps.
Yes. Let's listen.
The plot thickens.
Part of the story.
Story.
If you want to see her alive again,
go to where it all started with Vanessa.
I hope we're not too late for.
Hey, Marcus.
Shouldn't be here
running.
This is an active crime scene.
This Vanessa? Who?
The old lady.
Why would she be here?
Take her. Did
was taken.
I need you to leave now, Marcus.
I'm not going anywhere.
We're sick of Marcus
Worst.
Take a look.
Whoa, Mark.
No, no.
Take. Take.
Prone to violent outbursts, noted
Marcus, you cannot be here.
Quick.
I found another.
No, Marcus cannot be here.
Trust me.
What's
lost to me?
Go home. Stay there.
I'll catch up with you when I can.
No them.
I need to know now.
Earlier tonight, near the same cafe,
the mother of popular true
crime podcast host,
Marcus Freeman, was found murdered.
This is the second body
in a matter of just a few days
to turn up at the cafe specifically.
And the fourth death in the city
attributed to the serial killer
in the same timeframe.
Two recent murders were committed
using a variety of weapons, namely a sock.
It runs around a baseball bat
and now a portable propane tank.
The killer could commit to death
by bludgeoning with nearby
objects, killing
what we thought were random victims.
Until tonight, that is,
it is speculated that the killer is trying
to send a specific message to Mr.
Freeman with this most recent tragedy.
It also seems
that the violence has escalated
here.
Now you've got nothing to say.
Take me to the answer, man.
Pick up.
I'm worried about this.
And my mom is
sick.
Eufaula Cop man
Just just call me back, okay?
Call me back.
Here we are.
Fork in the road.
This message
now for my listeners,
this message is for you. You.
You want to come after me,
You want to make this personal.
It's not a ball.
That's enough games.
You clearly know where I live.
So let's go.
I am sick and tired of your games,
Jake.
Just calling me to see
if there's any updates.
I know you will call
if there was any man.
I just don't know what I'm doing.
More.
What did you do that for, Marcus?
What the hell were you thinking? Me?
What about you?
Excuse me.
Are you sure?
2 seconds after I get this, I'm supposed
to think that this is a coincidence.
Are you crazy, man?
Maybe
I know you're stressing, man,
but this is not the best time
for us to be drinking.
This is the perfect
I'm not a fan of.
We shared the behind
the scenes of our little show,
so I'll give you something
more exciting to talk about later tonight.
Right.
He makes good on his promises, Bill.
Yeah.
One more is not going to hurt us.
You have one more.
I'm still feeling
only here for a minute and close my eyes.
You do that
on my eyeball. More
this one.
What?
I need to talk.
Just relax, okay?
I did
that. You took me
Deep breaths.
It's like,
baby,
You know, this was all for you, right?
Everything.
All those people
you can see that you.
What people?
No, no. Yes.
Have a seat, Detective.
Nice.
Stop, Peavy.
I can explain.
Explain What?
Explain that you are a murderer.
Psychopath.
If you'll just listen.
Nothing you say. Whatever.
Shut up, Jacob.
All of this was for you.
People always say that they were doubtful.
How many weeks of
I didn't want
any of this.
But you wanted success, so.
Right, baby?
You wanted to help people.
You wanted to make them
feel like you were keeping them safe.
You needed that.
And I gave it to you.
But did you even appreciate it?
You know,
starting to feel like
this was so much wasted effort?
I mean,
your mom,
that one was rough.
You have to believe me.
But we needed it.
We needed it to be able to move forward.
You can't be since
you'll forgive me,
right, baby?
For better or worse, right? Yes.
No. Okay, then.
That's fine, Marcus.
Let's give credit where credit's
due, then.
Charlie.
Why not?
That's not what we're doing
tonight.
Marcus.
I know I don't want you over here.
Sit there.
We were supposed to make up
and bond over this experience.
He wasn't supposed to be here.
Vanessa,
you have critiqued my work
for years.
You've listened to my murder. So
now I get to see you on
mass.
Wait,
I understand.
That's too late, Marcus.
I understand why you this now.
What's it all for? US?
It's my fault
that it was for you.
I do everything.
It was all for you.
I see that this.
I do.
I just.
I just wanted to help.
I know it's my fault.
And you get
that he has to go, right?
But I just.
Yeah.
And you.
You should
let him.
But I think I've got everything we need.
Is there anything I can do for you?
For either of you?
Look what?
Thanks, man.
We're good.
Who would have thought
that the final podcast
would be hosted by the killer herself?
And that NASA's fatal
mistake of broadcasting was Jacob and I.
Grace, that says something that night
has me to this day,
killing for someone you love.
She loved me on a level so big,
so deranged.
Horror me feels bad.
I tried to convince her that stopping
the podcast was the right decision.
But don't get me wrong,
if I knew it was her all these years,
I would have turned her in immediately.
I can't lie though.
It is in some messed up way
and during the human hold the capacity
to love someone that much.
I'm no philosopher,
but if you ever find love like that,
just be sure they have a peaceful mind
and kindness in their heart.
I wish this book didn't exist.
I wish that I could have written
about how to spot a villain,
how it managed to carry to a one person.
I couldn't stay quiet about this truth,
even though it hurts to recount everything
that's come to pass.
It's my responsibility
to provide the families of the victims
and the fans of the podcast
the closure they deserve.
I'm Marcus Freeman officially signing off,
hopefully
to never return for another killing spree.
And they loved it that much.
They set up a whole book.
Apparently my life is interesting,
negatively impacting the entire global
economy and local news.
Only months after the discovery
and subsequent death of Vanessa Hunt,
a serial killer
who plagued our city for five years,
our brief
period of peace has been shattered.
James Shackleford, a local bookstore
clerk, was found murdered this morning,
though one murderer, not a serial killer,
make many are suspicious
of the single. no,
not today.
Seriously.
That is in your mama
In the sky to say something
to you.
My bag, baby.
You got to say, son.
Thank you.
Can I make this up to just Olivia, please?
Have you read it several times, I'm sure.
Probably put you to sleep, right?
Philly offers
an insight into the human condition.
I've learned a lot from it.
Well, I appreciate your support.
It's a pleasure meeting you.
Pleasure's mine.
Your diet know you hate working there.
You work in sick and tired.
I can read or write, good or bad
that you trying to find your mama.
You got to say something
to get my back, baby.
You got to say something.
Say nothing.
I'll find some when I close my eyes.
Then I just know this.
Your vigil.
You got to say some
po hospital like a scene.
Now, to answer my dreams,
would you think is fair?
Come to life because it's sink or swim.
Take what you want by the horns and write
you only want to But they told you lies.
You don't go knees when you pray to God
enough.
A capital G
when I'm saying God really want you.
When I say stop beating that flame like
it's 99 and addressing the 99 and 2000.
Now what's up When it's time to cry,
you don't text me.
Well, I've got to see some effort.
I don't mean no one on Friday, but we
chillin, watching Netflix and your mama.
You got to say something
to get my back, baby.
You got to say something.
Say nothing.
I'll find someone new.
I close my eyes and I just hope this your.
But you got to say some
lost too much too
soon to say thank you. Bye.
