It's freezing.
Will begin an expedition like no other Enjoy the view.
Go.
Across the ancient kingdom of Morocco.
Whoo! They're friends Ryan and I are gay.
We're fabulous.
Coworkers We're all New York City firemen.
I don't know how to ride this thing.
Nobody does.
You think we ever rode a camel before? And relatives We're midwest girls.
We are more than just sisters.
We're best friends.
Who have decided to compete together in the biggest adventure of their lives.
Whoo! It's the most epic journey ever filmed for television.
Whoo! Which team will have the right blend of courage Oh, my gosh! Teamwork Aah! Aah! And character? This is the hardest thing I've ever done in my life.
Find out tonight.
Welcome to Expedition Impossible 13 teams of ordinary Americans are driving across the kingdom of Morocco to a remote area of the Sahara desert fiercely guarded by local warriors.
It looks like mountains over there, but they're sand dunes.
Our team name is Fab 3.
Kari is my little sister, Ryan is my ex-boyfriend, and we're all best friends and roommates.
I think that some of the other teams will underestimate us.
We're dressed in teal, and we're wearing headbands.
Did you see the camels? My God.
It's show time, baby.
I didn't come just for a safari.
We're winning this thing.
We're the Country Boys.
We've really been training for this all our lives.
It's pretty much Mississippi with a lot of sand.
Ready! We're Latin Persuasion.
We definitely have not been camping or anything, but we're from the concrete jungle.
We may not be used to climbing mountains, but we climb staircases in the subway.
I'm driving in Morocco.
It doesn't even seem real.
I can be prissy.
This is a competition.
I could get dirty, but I need my lip gloss order to survive.
These guys make an intimidating image, that's for sure.
Whoo! I just can't believe it's actually happening.
That's what's kinda scary about it.
What that we have no idea what to expect.
It feels like game day.
My palms are sweaty.
I'm nervous.
We're former Football Players.
We played college football together, and then we all went off to go play in the NFL.
We've been in the football arena.
Now we're going into the outdoor arena.
That's a whole new world for us.
Hey! Our team's name is Mom's Army, because Abb and I were in the army, and this is our mom that's with us, and we're totally gonna kick butt.
Our strategy for winning this competition is knock 'em off one at a time.
So when we first realized that there was a guy in the competition who was blind, I felt like awesome.
One one down.
As a blind guy, I've been counted out so many times.
People make all these assumptions, all these stereotypes, but I've been to the summit of a lot of peaks, including Everest.
So if this competition really plays to our skill and experience, we're gonna win n for sure.
I'm 69, gonna be 70 this fall.
People might think I'm gonna be kind of weak because of my age, but trust me, I'm gonna be in there with the best of' em.
I wouldn't wanna race around with my grandpa.
I wouldn't wanna race with my grandpa either.
No.
They're gonna have some extra weight to carry.
Latin Persuasion.
We can do it.
Those Latin girls don't have a chance.
Look at their clothes.
They're not prepared for this.
They're not gonna last ten minutes.
They look like a dance group.
- A damn ugly dance group.
- Oh, my goodness.
Welcome to the kingdom of Morocco and the Sahara desert.
These are the brave Berber warriors.
They've protected this land throughout history.
And it's with their blessing that we're able to enter their land and embark on the greatest adventure of your lives.
- Whoo! - Yeah! They have a saying "Choose your companions before choosing the road.
" So I want you guys to take a second and look at each other.
Look at your teammates and ask yourself, "have you chosen wisely?" Because if one of you quits, your entire team is out.
The rules are simple.
The expedition's been broken into ten stages.
Each stage has a series of checkpoints.
The last team to check in at the end of each stage will be eliminated, but for the team that sticks together and crosses the finish line first, hundreds of miles from here, will win $150,000 and three brand-new Ford explorers.
- Yeah! - Whoo-hoo! Yeah! In order to claim that prize, you'll cross the desert, you'll climb snowcapped mountains, you will paddle raging rivers.
It will truly be an adventure like no other.
The gateway to your expedition is on the sand dune behind me.
And just so we're clear That flag on those sand dunes.
You'll pass through the flags and look to the west.
From there, you'll see your first checkpoint The camel outpost, where you'll receive instructions on where to go next.
.
I'm looking up at the sand dune, and I'm looking at the flags at the top.
My palms are sweaty.
My heart's beating.
This thing is larger than any stadium I've ever played in.
It's about four or five football fields high, and it's in sand.
When the horsemen fire their weapons, your expedition has begun.
Remember, be strong, work together, and never give up.
Okay.
Do it.
Nice and easy.
Taylor, you doing all right? Yeah.
Oh, my shoes are already stuffed with sand.
I know.
Mine are, too.
Straight up that middle path? I'm almost thinking at, Ike.
I don't know, brother.
Let's keep the pace up, yeah? - Bells out.
- Yeah.
When I'm hiking, I'm following someone, so I'm listening really carefully to them.
Sometimes a person's out in front, jingling a bell.
I have these two long trekking poles, and I'm using 'em, you know, kinda gives me more stability.
As a blind guy, if if say I lose, people will be like, "oh, he gave it a shot," you know, that's expected.
But I mean, if I win, I mean, nobody wants to lose to a blind guy.
How humiliating is that gonna be? - Where are we now? - We're, uh, second.
We've got a sister and, uh, two guys.
They're the only ones in front, And these guys tell me that the two guys and the lady They have knee-high socks on, and I just think, there's no way we can lose to guys with knee-high socks.
If we lose to guys with knee-high socks, we we will not be able to go back to Colorado.
I'm gonna have to hide my head in the sand.
I mean, seriously, I don't know I'm gonna have to move.
It's about to level out a little bit.
Just push.
The stereotype of gay guys is that we go clubbing, we're sassy, we wear wigs, but we're just normal guys here.
We're very athletic, and it really has nothing to do - with our sexuality at all.
- At all.
The two flags are yours.
My entire family has disowned me.
For 13 years, I've had zero contact with them, so since my family really hasn't been there for me, I've definitely, you know, formed my own family unit with these two over here.
I love them.
They love me.
You know, we're best friends for life.
Just really take your time, guys.
Don't rush.
Just step by step.
This is tough.
It's the heat, the sand, the elements.
Brutal.
There's a lot of teams here that are looking at us, 'cause they see us.
They're like, "who are these fat three guys?" And they don't know who we are.
They don't know we're firemen.
They don't know The daily life that we live, that when we go to work, it's a stressful and a physical job.
We grew up together, since we were little kids in, uh, little, uh, diapers, 'cause, uh, our parents grew up in the same neighborhood together also.
I, uh, I probably wish I worked out a little bit more.
Let's keep in front.
I'm slipping.
I'm slipping.
Look at all the dunes.
How cool is this? Oh, my God.
Oh, this is day one.
What's to come? Whoo! We call ourselves Gypsies 'cause we're free-spirited nomadic adventurers.
We've traveled a lot around the world.
Look at that view.
We've been training really hard, so physically, we're fit, but also mentally, we're very prepared.
I think this is the type of environment that we can really thrive and and be real competitors in.
That's it, guys.
Look down there straight.
That's gotta be it.
It is.
I see flags.
Whoo! All right, camels! Can we take any of 'em or is, uh "To survive a journey across the unforgiving desert, you're going to need three camels.
" Teams will now be introduced to the Sahara desert's most stubborn resident the camel.
Known by the locals as the ships of the desert, teams must select three camels to carry them across the Sahara to their next checkpoint, located at the Lone Palm Camp.
All right, so how do you say "which camel is best?" Salam.
Is this a good camel? This one's good? Très bien? All right.
Okay, let's go.
"You must select three camels for your journey" "Before heading off to your next checkpoint.
" Are you gonna be nice to me? Please.
Please.
Down.
Don't you bite me.
Go down.
I think it was always mules They say you're stubborn as a mule.
I mean, I think it should be "stubborn as a camel," 'cause they're the most stubborn creatures on the face of the planet.
Oh.
He just kicked me in the head.
First time riding a camel, man.
Thank you.
Thank you.
"You must select three camels" "Before heading off to your next checkpoint" "located at the Lone Palm Camp.
" Hey, you guys? Yeah? Northwest I got is right here.
So we gotta go that way.
- Yeah.
- Hold on tight.
- Hold on.
Hold on.
- Oh! Finally! The worst is over! We conquered sand dune of death.
That was awful.
That was awful.
That was awful.
"The next checkpoint, located at the Lone Palm Camp.
" Easy, buddy.
Come on.
this guy's got attitude.
Never dealt with a camel ever.
You know, fed 'em in the zoo, and that was about it.
They're huge and they're pretty stubborn.
Turns out that, like, the more you try to, like, pull it, the more they kinda, like, tell you, like, no.
You son of a camel! Come on! How do you get on 'em? Jump on it.
Whoa! Come on, guys.
People are coming.
Come on, get on the camel.
All right, let's go.
Camels! Oh, my gosh.
There's camels.
How do you ride one? I don't know.
We don't have camels in Kansas! Yeah.
P walk.
I'll get behind you and push.
I can't even see, man.
Walk.
Crawl.
Whatever you gotta do.
That's it.
If you lay down, we're gonna be done.
I can't carry the pack, baby.
I keep hearing you say you're coming.
But you gotta get up and go.
As I got halfway up the dune, that's when it hit me, and I'm just really looking at my teammates like, "what in the hell have we gotten ourselves into?" Get up.
Do what you gotta do.
Come on.
You can do this, Mai.
Uh-oh.
Catching up to the big boys.
The mule ends are lagging behind.
So keep on moving.
We gotta pass him.
Come on, Chad.
Get up.
I'm sorry, guys.
Excuse me.
We call the country dudes the "mule ends," and on the way up the dune, we were able to pass them, so that was that was a-a-a good a good feeling, just to pass them.
Excuse me.
Sorry.
Chad.
You're just gonna let 'em walk by? Dig, Chad.
Unh-unh.
If you stay here, we're done.
You get it? I'm not being a jerk.
I'm just telling you.
We've been sitting here for seven minutes.
Come on.
Chad, I got three kids at home.
They want me to win this thing or at least place in it.
- Let's go, bud.
- Now.
You gotta get up now.
We're halfway up the dune, and I see Chad on the ground, and I could just tell by his body language that he was starting to shut down.
There's no way in the world that we we can even continue.
What's the verdict? Chad.
You're just gonna let 'em walk by? - Come on, Chad.
Get up.
- I'm about to get up.
Now.
You gotta get up now.
I won't let you down.
Get up.
Let's go.
Don't run.
Just walk.
Let's go.
Nick and Jason they motivated and motivated and motivated me, and I mean, I-I-I don't know where the energy came from Take my hand.
Come on.
But we pushed forward.
Me, Nick, and Jason We're really just family.
I mean, we all want to see each other succeed, - and and that's the key.
- Way to go, brother.
- We made it.
- Way to go, brother.
Look around you.
You did it.
Hours into the expedition, the heat is on for the front of the pack as they endure the searing sun of the Sahara and stubborn camels in a fight for first place.
The Gypsies, Fab 3 My legs are starting to cramp up a little.
And Football Players are in the lead, but No Limits is catching up.
Come on, Bubba.
Let's go, man.
Come on.
Come on.
Let's go, Mr.
Tom Tom.
Up the hill, come on.
Come on.
Yeah.
All right.
Looking good.
That was a good move.
We just passed the Fab 3 crew, and we're in first place right now for the moment.
I think psychologically all these other teams will be like blind dude team They ain't playin'.
"You must select three camels for your journey" "Before heading off to your next checkpoint, located at the Lone Palm Camp.
" - So what do we do? - Where's our map? - Pretty simple.
- So what am I doing? I need to know what What I'm supposed to be doing.
- Obviously, you're getting on the camel.
- Yeah.
Go, go, go.
Yeah, and then you're gonna get off and walk.
With the book bag? I'm just wondering.
I need to know instructions.
Oh! Okay.
- You're amazing, mom.
- You okay, mom? We love you.
Whoa, fella! Dashia, that was not smart.
I needed to put the bags first, and then you get on the camel.
Shh.
But just Just put your ca Okay, listen, these are animals.
They sense our tension.
Put your bags on and get on the camels.
Yippee-ki-yay! We're camel riding.
Mai, what are you doing? Where is your bag? I'm going the other way.
I can't go under the camel.
What the? I'm doing the best I can.
Didn't I tell you not to Chill out and learn to talk to me.
Didn't I tell you not to talk to me like that? Didn't I? Learn to talk to me.
Learn to talk to me.
Wow.
We're supposed to work together.
- Okay, yeah, and I said "respect.
" - And me, too.
- Okay? I told you, do not - Okay, enough! You talk to me like that again, we're going home, so you better think about how you talk to me, telling you right now.
Okay.
Can you please shut up, yo? Learn to talk.
Learn to talk.
Learn to talk.
Mai definitely needs to get rid of the ruffles.
You know, she's sitting up on the camel like a princess.
This is not a beauty pageant.
This is a competition.
She doesn't work well with others, you know, and she doesn't step up to the plate, and we're gonna have to, you know, do things that we don't normally do, so I hope she pulls it together 'cause I don't want to lose.
Crazy.
Crazy.
God.
You know which way to go? We're following other people with camels.
Okay, let's go.
Come on.
Latin Persuasion's lack of teamwork has put them in last place.
Meanwhile, lead teams continue to surge ahead.
No Limits and Fab 3 arrive first at the Lone Palm Camp, where their teamwork and ability to think clearly will be put to the test at their first challenge.
- Is it coming up yet? - This is it right here.
All right.
Go, go, go.
Come on, come on, come on, come on.
All right, here we go.
"Find the water the local way" "To complete this challenge, you must gather one full j-jug of water before leaving this checkpoint.
" Okay, where's the water source? That's what I wanna know.
Where's a berber dude? "Find the water the local way.
" All right, let's go get some water.
But the water could be hidden in one of these tanks.
I'm thinking, where in the world would we find water? I thought maybe we could cut open the the hump of the camel and they have water stored there.
No, no, no.
We were all pretty frustrated, I think 'cause we were just exhausted.
Our brains weren't even working at the time.
We're dehydrated.
We've been in the desert for miles and miles, hours.
"Find water the local way.
" The water has to be over there, though.
Does it give any hints on the Does it give any hints in there? No water in that one.
Okay, listen.
Come here.
In the desert, where's water? We're all pretty frustrated, I think because we were just exhausted.
Nobody was figuring it out.
The only thing that I could think to do was just start digging.
All the materials we need are here.
- We have the jug.
- Let's go get some water.
It's getting wet down here.
Sand's always wet.
Ryan, come on.
Just dig.
I was like, are you serious? There's no way you're gonna get water in the middle of the Sahara desert under sand.
"When you have gathered one full jug of water, you may head to your next checkpoint.
" Our challenge was to find water, but we had no idea how to find water in the berber tradition.
Bring this, man.
Come on.
All the materials we need are here.
We have the jug.
All right.
Come on.
Guys, we need something to dig.
I know there's water underneath the sand, so I just started digging.
It's getting wet down here.
Sand's always wet.
Ryan, come on.
Just dig.
Ryan thought I was crazy, so he wouldn't dig.
Kari wouldn't dig.
She had her hands on her hips, and everybody's looking at me like I'm a maniac.
I just looked down and I was like, "just shut up and dig.
" Get the sand under.
Guys, let's help these guys dig.
Yeah.
You guys want us to help you dig or you want us to look for a local Fab 3 had actually started to dig in this tent area, and, you know, as we looked at it, we're like, why don't we go help them out and see what we can do? Is this the local way, though? Wouldn't they use a well? I mean oh, it's getting wet.
You guys want us to take a spell? - I'm happy to hop in and fire.
- You wanna get in here? You bet.
Yeah, I'm ready.
"Find water" "The local way.
" "When you've gather one full jug of water, you may head to the next checkpoint.
" Keep digging.
Don't stop.
It's like being at the beach.
Uh, we're the Fishermen and we're from a little town named gloucester on the outskirts of Boston, and we're in the desert So this is a whole different element than what we're used to.
Let's see what we got right now.
Oh! Found it! Yeah! Yeah.
A.
J.
definitely blows my mind how he figures things out.
I don't think any other team would have figured that out.
How about everybody start filling your bottles and then you guys can leave? Hey, let's get in there.
Mebody get in there.
Would everyone just get the bottle down there? I got the bottle right here.
Fab 3, The Gypsies, and No Limits they all arrived around the same time as us, and they started digging a hole.
We didn't want to dig our own, so we're like, gotta get in where we fit in.
Is it actually getting the dirt out or is it - We got a system right now.
- Is that close? As we were digging, the Football Players came up, and they never would have figured out this challenge.
There's a lot of muscle there, but generally, we've found that when you find a lot of muscle, there's not a lot up here to back it up.
It was just frustrating that they would come in and poach our water like that.
Let's go.
Fab 3 is the first to complete the challenge.
Having collected a full jug of water for their thirsty camels, they'll leave their camels and the heat of the desert behind and traverse the rocky terrain to the top of Todra Mountain, where they will find their next checkpoint.
We gotta get out of here.
Let's go.
You got it? All right, Erik, let's go.
We were very lucky we got to the water challenge after other teams did because they already had the holes dug.
I don't know how we could've figured it out that quickly.
Doesn't say anything we can't use their hole.
Okay, are we complete? Yeah.
Shh.
Shh.
Middle teams are taking full advantage of the water in the wells that the lead teams have left behind.
All right.
Oh, good, mom.
It's full? That's it.
Dig it out, Chad.
Dig it out.
Looking good, guys.
Get it off the top.
Honestly, you don't even know how I feel right now.
Mai, can you please really be quiet? Talk to God.
Can you Mai, can you talk to God right now? 'Cause nobody wanna hear you.
Shut up.
Maybe you should do the same.
Oh, God.
Put the camels down.
Is this the place we're supposed to be at? Yeah.
Keep fighting.
Anyway "Find water the local way.
" Okay.
So where do we get the water? Get a jug.
You need something to put water in.
Yeah.
Look, well, there's water in here.
Go ahead.
Stand there and look pretty.
That's what she's good at.
Give this girl some brains today, please.
I mean, you can't continue to do this.
It's not fair that me and dashia are doing everything.
It's called teamwork, Mai.
You just do whatever you want.
What are you doing here then? We're in the Sahara desert.
There's sand everywhere, yo! You don't want to be here because you don't know how to compromise at all.
It's called teamwork, Mai.
At this point, like, I stop being angry, and I start getting really emotional.
If we do want to stay in in this expedition, we have to work as a team.
You know, you're really being difficult, so, I mean, you need to talk and communicate or something so we can kick everybody's ass here, 'cause we can.
The only way we're gonna get through this expedition is if you start listening to us and start working with us.
Your ego needs to go out the window.
Your fashion statement needs to go out the window, panty hose out the window, ruffles out the window.
We need to start working together.
You know, we wanna win this.
We can.
- I can be that team player.
- Oh.
So who has a compass and a G.
P.
S.
? Let's just pick up the pace.
Just keep my eye on the prize.
We're doing great.
Having spent half the day racing through the grueling heat of the desert, teams will face their fears as they traverse the treacherous and rocky terrain to the top of the Todra Mountain.
There, up top.
Teams have broken into three clearly defined groups Fab 3, Gypsies, Football Players, and No Limits are in the lead.
.
- Oh.
- I'm out of my element, but I have to just keep moving forward.
It's just kinda like the football mentality, you just gotta push through.
You gotta push through it.
The middle struggles to keep up Fishermen, The Cops, Team Kansas, New York Firemen, and California Girls.
We've never done any of this stuff, so we're doing fine right now, and I think it's because of our firemen training that firemen always keep a little bit of energy in their tank.
Oh, quick, mom.
They're right behind us.
While the back of the pack is struggling and have fallen an hour behind the lead Mom's Army, Country Boys, Grandpa's Warriors, and Latin Persuasion.
We are catching up.
That's it.
Keep going.
My grandpa is 69, my dad's 49, and I'm 23, and I'm the weak link, but we're still contenders.
We always make it.
It might take us a while, but we'll make it.
Doesn't matter where they are.
We can take 'em in a challenge.
Okay.
Thank God.
"Expedition Impossible" is completely out of control.
It's such rough terrain, and it changes every five minutes.
If I knew it was gonna be this hard, we probably would've trained, you know, twice as hard before we came here.
This climb is kicking my butt.
So many loose rocks up here.
The incline is massive.
"Time to face your fears" "The only way to get down from this point - is straight down 30 stories.
" - Oh, God.
Oh, my God.
What goes up must come down.
Teams will now s sap in and rappel more than 300 feet down the face of the Todra gorge, one of the highest rappels in northern Africa.
Once the entire team has reached the ground, they must follow the dry riverbed to their next checkpoint at the center of Snake Valley.
We are about to rappel down a cliff that I have not looked at yet from up here.
I'm so nervous right now.
When we got to the rappel, I started crying at the top.
It was just intense.
I've never seen anything like it.
- It was, like, 600 feet.
- You can do this.
- It's just one step at a time.
- Go slow as you need to go.
The rappel was amazing.
It's the biggest thing I've ever done, and I just zipped through it.
I wish I had taken my time to look around 'cause I was just cruising down it.
But we knew we had to pick it up a bit.
Good job, buddy.
I'm nervous, but I got this.
Just have to do it.
It was terrifying, but I knew that was my moment where I had to just deal with it for my team, so I just had to pretty much suck it up, and I actually flew down.
It's just that feeling when you're starting You have to get over it.
It's all mental.
It really is.
You know, I didn't really believe that until we finished.
It's completely mental.
The Gypsies just went right ahead of us, but we're gonna catch them.
I'm about to plummet off this cliff, which I don't even wanna look down, because I've never done anything like this before.
May the force be with me.
I don't have a fear of height as much as I have a fear of going backwards down something that high.
Oh, boy.
Okay.
Come on, ak.
Oh, what in the world am I doing? I was feeling a little sick, and especially when you look down and you can't see the bottom, you don't know where you're actually going, now I don't care who you are.
That's scary.
Superman wouldn't even take that rappel.
Oh! I'm twisting.
Damn it.
Oh, man, I'm not prepared for this one.
While Akbar struggles Geronimo! Erik, the blind competitor from No Limits, uses his climbing expertise to conquer the rappel with ease.
I have no idea how far of a rappel it is.
I'm not afraid on a rappel, because I can't see where I'm landing.
But I think a lot of teams were really scared looking down from that rappel.
I mean, it was huge.
I could hear the space all around me.
I could hear this wild, open sound all out in front of me.
Yeah! "To reveal the location of the finish line, you must watch the snake charmer routine.
" After arriving at Snake Valley, the teams will experience a traditional Moroccan snake charmer routine.
They must carefully count the number of snakes revealed.
Once they have what they believe to be the correct number of snakes, teams will choose a box with the exact number written on the outside.
Guys, the snakes are real! - That's three so far.
- Oh, my God.
That's four.
Go get perspective from over there.
Go get perspective from over there.
Five, six, seven, eight.
9, 10, 11.
- That's 11.
- Yeah, let's do it.
11? Now that they've made their choice, teams that are correct will trek 5 grueling miles over rocky terrain to the finish line.
If teams have chosen incorrectly, they'll be sent 30 minutes off-course until they reach a "wrong way" sign A mistake that could cost them the race.
Oh, that's a cobra.
Two snakes popped out, and they were over here trying to bite the guy, going at his face.
It's pretty scary, and all of a sudden you look back, and now there's more snakes out there.
You can't tell which is what.
It's definitely a tough challenge.
There's 5.
6 and 5.
11.
- Count 'em? - Yep, it's 11, so - That's 11.
- Go.
Right there.
"Follow your way so we can spot the finish.
Don't be last.
" Let's go, guys.
Come on, everybody.
We both got 11, so I'm feeling pretty confident.
But right now it's just whoever gets there first.
Okay, checkpoint.
"From the outside of the stone wall, count the total number of snakes shown.
" Uh, Erik, you got this one? Yeah, I'm I'm I'm leading this effort.
Go, go, go.
Ten.
Ten.
I couldn't see any snakes.
This is a challenge where I'm just totally at a loss.
I'm at a deficit.
I mean, I have to trust my team here, so I can't second-guess 'em.
Okay, let's go.
Let's see if we got the right one.
And hopefully, we made the right call here.
Is this tight enough? Yeah.
And where's my where's my brake rope? Your brake we haven't hooked it on yet, mom.
My mom has never done something like this, and she just I don't know, she just had trouble getting herself, like, into the mindset of doing this.
- I can't look over.
- I know.
Don't look over.
Make me crazy.
Mom is getting nervous because that's what she does.
She goes over the side, and, like, instantly, like, just loses her bearings.
Now I'm scared.
I won't be able to let go 'cause I won't be able to have any strength left.
Oh.
Oh, God.
My arm.
- You're okay.
You're okay.
- I can't even lean back.
Aah! Ugh.
Oh, my arm.
Come on, mom.
I got really upset because just seemed like my mom was struggling, like, it was just so hard for her.
I'm feeling really concerned.
Aah! I can't watch this.
Oh, my God.
I'm thinking if my mom doesn't do this, we're done.
That's it.
Aah! I can't watch this.
I got this.
Get it out your mind.
Ugh.
Oh, God.
Let's go.
Go for it.
You're doing great.
When my mom went over the edge, I was just really concerned for her.
I didn't want her to hear me crying, because I knew that that would, like, freak her out.
Come on, mom.
And I just kept trying to cheer her on.
You got it.
You're almost there.
Oh, thank God.
For my mom, doing this expedition must be extremely stressful, to be doing this with your two daughters, but she's amazing, and I was proud of my mom for doing it.
Your mom is awesome because my mom would tell me to go to hell if I told her to do something like this.
You okay? No.
The rappel was definitely my biggest worry in this whole expedition because I am terrified of heights.
But we still have the yellow team behind us, and I realize I didn't have time to waste to be scared.
Got this, baby.
You would've thought I've done this a million times.
I looked like I was an action star.
Getting over that fear and conquering it was really just such a Joy in itself.
My teammate's here, and we're gonna kick butt.
Let's go, babes.
Come on, grandpa Watch out.
The lead teams Gypsies, Fab 3, and Football Players Have finished the snake challenge and picked the instructions in box 11.
No Limits, however, picked box number ten.
Oh, boy.
Wrong way.
All right, wrong way! We gotta go back and redo it.
The consequences for counting the snakes wrong was horrible.
It led you in the wrong direction for, like, 25 minutes, 30 minutes.
- We didn't get the right box.
- Sorry, Erik.
So at that point, we knew we were hosed.
What's up, Dave? Nice work, guys.
What's happening, buddy? When we didn't see the other teams, that's when we realized that we nailed it.
I can't even explain to you how happy we were.
Gypsies, you are the winners of stage one of your expedition.
Yeah! Yeah! Congratulations.
Everybody on the team is contributing equally, and that's one of the reasons I think we're so strong.
Fab 3, you're in second place.
Two gay dudes and a girl To come second is just unbelievable.
I don't think I've ever felt this proud.
It's just It's indescribable.
Football Players You're in third place.
Third place? I can tell you right now, this is a lot harder than playing professional football, because Football Players do not train for endurance.
Football field and out here in Morocco totally different, but I think we're off to a good start.
Congratulations.
All right, thanks.
Whew.
This way.
All right, another team rolling in right now.
We got back down from the "wrong way" sign.
The Cali Girls, the Fishermen, the Kansas Girls, and the Country Boys They're all with us.
If we want to keep our position, we've got to get it right this time, because we don't want to go home.
- That's 11.
- Let's go.
So we counted again.
It was 11 snakes.
It wasn't 10.
So second time around, we counted right.
- Here we go, Erik.
- Ah, we screwed up.
Yes, that was 11, I think.
11? You got 11? - 11.
- Count them.
We're still being positive and moving forward and going, so I'm really putting in all my faith and hope, uh, that we're not last.
So let's go.
Okay, come on.
We're ready.
11.
We've got confidence.
- And if not, we're snake-bit.
- All right, let's go.
We know Latin Persuasion So they're not too far ahead of us.
We might be able to catch 'em.
We still have to go up a hill, and we know your heel's not doing good.
We know we're on the right path, 'cause that signal's up there.
We're still in this.
They are? You see them? As the sun sets over the Moroccan desert Finally! Nice work! Yeah! Team Kansas, Fishermen, No Limits, and Country Boys finally cross the finish line.
These guys pushed me all the way.
That's what teams do, man.
They're followed closely by the New York Firemen.
You're eighth place.
Hey, man.
We finished.
That's what's important.
To be able to finish feels great.
I mean, it's an awesome feeling.
I mean the terrain's miserable, it's unforgiving, and just to make it to the end was, uh, an awesome achievement.
Come on, guys! California Girls, The Cops, and Mom's Army check in.
You're 11th.
Oh! Oh! Now only two teams remain Latin Persuasion All we wanna cross is the finish line.
And Grandpa's Warriors.
The further down we go, the steeper this gets.
In a final race to the finish line.
It would have been a heck of a lot easier in daylight.
I think I might puke.
- Mai, you good? - I feel like throwing up.
My body's just, like, not feeling good.
Well, we're almost there, and we're gonna get better.
We're just exhausted.
I am feeling like I wanna die.
We're still going, but we're shutting down.
We're shutting down physically.
We know we're in trouble.
- We might be going home.
- We don't want them to pass us.
This is nasty.
Stage one of the expedition has come down to the final two teams left on the course - Latin Persuasion - Are you okay, Raven? You know what? We're gonna make it, and we're not coming in last.
And Grandpa's Warriors.
Oh, my God.
Now that darkness has fallen, the terrain becomes more difficult Ow! Ow! And one team is going home.
You know, hiking this in the dark is something that you really do not wanna do.
It can be very dangerous, but we had to keep going because we were not ready to go home.
Come on.
We gotta beat beat the grandpas.
We can easily be out of this today if we let them get in front of us, so move it.
Well, we're moving it.
We're moving it.
I see what looks like a camp.
Go towards the light, dad.
Those bright lights over there It could be the finish line.
Going down the Mountain, I can see the lights, the flags where we're supposed to be at the finish line, but I'm not sure if we're last or next to last.
Couldn't really see where the latina girls were, but we could hear 'em.
Come on.
The finish line's right there.
Oh, my God.
We're here.
Oh, my God.
Is this it I see lights.
I see fire.
We made it.
We're here, yeah.
Come on! You're almost there.
Great job.
Grandpa's Warriors, you're in 12th place.
Your expedition continues.
It feels great knowing that we're not last and we're going to have one more day, another great expedition.
Go get some rest.
Great job, guys.
Congratulations.
Finish strong, girls.
You did a great job.
Come on.
Great job! Come on! Latin Persuasion, you're the last team to come across the finish line.
Your expedition is over, and you're going home.
Okay.
Okay.
That's okay.
This was a big, big, big thing you guys took on.
It's a new experience, a once-in-a-lifetime thing that we never thought we would think to about doing.
None of this is familiar to us.
Right.
You know, we're from New York.
You know, we're used to subways and skyscrapers, so being out here, we were totally thrown out of our element, and, you know, we did the best we could, and that's why I'm not crying right now Mm-hmm.
You know, because I-I still I feel very accomplished.
I really do.
Me, too.
It's very remote, it's obviously very dark.
I can't get you out of here tonight, so you'll be evacuated in the morning.
Go get some rest.
Being the first team eliminated is disappointing, but I'm not sad.
I mean, this was an amazing experience.
What we've done in just the first expedition was incredible.
Being able to say that I rode a camel through the Sahara desert and rappelled off a 30-story cliff in Africa Nobody can say that.
You know, we didn't win, but we didn't quit either.
That's something that makes me really proud, definitely.
Seeing the latina girls fly away in the helicopter, I realize that could have been us.
We're going to have to give it a harder drive to stay in the game.
Watching that chopper leave, it was a reality check for me.
It's not all about who's the strongest.
It's not all about who's the fastest.
It's more a mental thing.
It's who wants to really win this thing.
We can definitely make it out here in the Sahara.
Starting tonight Oh, my God.
Look at this.
.
It's insane.
Ordinary people You guys, I'm not looking down! Will attempt the impossible.
Jeez! Damn! New horse.
13 teams of 3 Oh, my God.
