Heroes Reborn (2015) s01e01 Episode Script
Brave New World / Odessa
Hey, this is Claire.
Leave me a message and I'll call you back.
Hey, it's your dad.
I know it's been a few years since we've talked, and I don't know if you're still mad or I don't really know anything.
I just know I miss you.
I'm sure there's plenty of apologies to go around, but to be honest with you, I'm not interested in who was right or wrong anymore.
So much has changed since I saw you last.
I don't know whether those changes are good or bad, but I really think it has a chance to all work out.
And knowing how important you've been to all of this, to so many people out there, it's made me proud.
And I just wanted to call and tell you how excited I am that we might be seeing each other.
When you look back at the things you've done, the decisions you've made Whoa.
The last thing you want to feel is regret, am I right? I'll see you soon, Claire-bear.
on little Odessa, Texas.
Headquarters of Primatech, the global leaders of evo research.
The dream for peace between humans and evos - has shattered in seconds.
- Massive evidence Odessa A once thriving city in central Texas Why did this have to happen? It was a despicable and cowardly act-- Reduced to a wasteland-- The are the seeds of hate that we cannot let take root in our heart.
This horrific attacks are a grim reminder of the hatred and contempt-- Bigotry that says another person is less than my equal, less than human.
The local hospital here in Odessa is overwhelmed Listen, I wanted to trust those evos.
I wanted the summit to work.
This kind of thing happening in our United States.
We can't just let them get away with this.
Who did this, and why? We have got to go and attack the enemy.
We face bullies and tyrants and terrorists with strength.
And so we are newly reminded that serious threats to our way of life remain.
Make no mistake, we will get to the bottom of this Claire! To bring those who committed this vicious attack to justice.
June 13th will certainly go down in history as one of the worst terrorist attacks-- - Will hunt down and punish - Claire! - Those responsible.
- Will be brought to justice.
Hunt them down and kill them.
Kill 'em all! Claire! Don't see him, huh? Move along, move along.
Next in line, please.
Hero Truther says in other countries, they shoot people like us in the streets.
It's Canada, not North Korea.
You'll be safe.
Canadians are nice.
That's what you said about people in Denver.
What is it? They're swabbing.
Hold it right there! What do we do? _ _ Coach Lewis? Aw, jeez.
You got to be kidding me.
Odessa, a once-thriving city reduced to a desolate wasteland by a cowardly act - Password.
- Of evil terrorism.
Cockroach? Why Odessa? It was the headquarters of Primatech, a company steeped in secrecy.
Primatech opened its doors on June 13th for what was to be a three-day summit.
People gathered from all around the world, hoping to build a better future where humans and evos could coexist in peace.
Within hours, an evil supremacist named Mohinder Suresh claimed full responsibility for the attacks.
Lies.
All of it.
This is pathetic.
How the hell are we supposed to fight back if we can't even organize? We just got to get creative.
There's a guy in Los Angeles fighting back, calls himself "El Vengador.
" That dude in the Mexican wrestler costume-- that's a joke, right? Is it? At least he's doing something.
I hear he's got a whole underground railroad out there, fake IDs, fake blood samples-- it's a way to disappear.
One guy, so what? Pretty soon, they'll send drones after us.
June 13th changed everything.
The public's scared to death of us.
Most of these incidents are isolated-- Tulsa, Cedar Rapids-- the vigilantes, a few bad apples--that's all.
If it was just vigilantes, the government wouldn't be forcing us to register.
People don't get it.
It's not the government or the vigilantes we should be worried about.
The ones really hunting us, they're in the shadows.
There's something else going on here.
And they're everywhere.
Oh, that's just great.
So what are we supposed to do with that, chase ghosts? My mom sleeps with a gun under her pillow, when she sleeps at all.
And we use fake names most of the time.
I'm calling myself "Tommy" now.
No names, for God's sakes.
Now we're wanted in three states, all because I can't control my power.
I came here tonight because I thought maybe someone could give me a few tips, help me out a little.
You came to the wrong place, my friend.
_ I-I got to go.
My mom-- Sorry.
Hey, look out! - I'm so sorry.
- Come on.
I'm really sorry.
- It's lies, just lies.
- You believe everything.
You can't have a revolution without casualties.
Resistance is our only answer, - by any means possible.
- Exactly.
We need to stop acting like victims here.
We're the ones with powers.
Suresh was right.
We are the future.
The future That's a good one.
On June 13th, my wife and I, we brought our nine-year-old son Dennis to Odessa to watch history being made.
It was a beautiful day.
Sun was shining.
Summer heat was rising up off the ground.
Like everyone there, we believed in the cause.
We believed that the change could come from that spot right then and there.
And then when I watched my--my boy die in my arms, I realized that that just wasn't gonna happen.
You all seem like really nice folks.
You can't change who you are, what you are.
But these powers-- they're not natural.
They're not safe, and they cannot be trusted.
So as far as I'm concerned, there's only one solution for that.
And what solution is that? Run! They found us! One of 'em got away.
Dropped this.
Moe's Ice Cream Parlor.
Carbondale, Illinois.
One more, and we got free ice cream.
For Dennis.
Memories are funny things.
The good ones fill your life with meaning, with context, with clarity, while other memories can deceive.
The ones that make you believe you know the truth, they're the dangerous ones, the ones that hold you hostage.
When you look back on all the decisions you've made in your life, the one thing you don't want to feel is regret.
Am I right? It's why this car makes so much sense.
Gas mileage, style, safety-- It's got it all, not to mention that new-car smell.
What do you think, young lady? Okay.
Let's head back into my office.
Leasing office, pick up line 3, please.
Leasing office, line 3.
So can I get started on the paperwork? I'd like to check the safety stats on the car first.
You've probably got kids, right, Mr.
Barnes? Linda, you're amazing.
- Oh, it's Lisa.
- Lisa, yeah, right.
We got to stop.
Why? Why? What's wrong? Lunchtime, you're on in five.
All I know about being a hero is it's not something you're born with.
And if you had told me when I was your age that I'd be getting a medal of valor for saving three soldiers from an ambush in Afghanistan, I'd have said you were nuts.
Uh Here I am.
I'd like to thank Principal Marks and Miss--Miss, uh-- - Carpenter.
- Right.
Uh, for giving me such a warm welcome today.
I'll leave you with this last thought.
It doesn't matter how ordinary you think you are or how much of a screwup you think you've been.
We all have the potential to be heroes.
Thank you.
- You want to? - Yes.
Okay.
Hey! Brad Hey.
- You like my girlfriend? - What? You're staring at my girlfriend.
No, I wasn't staring.
Wuss.
They said his wife didn't even know he was in Chicago.
Did something happen? Coach Lewis died in a fire last night with six other people.
I've been here an hour now.
The other guy told me to wait.
Mm.
Waiting.
Too many people go through life waiting for things to happen instead of making them happen.
Ah.
Now, let's talk about what you saw.
I'm riding my bike down H Street with my delivery when this little prick runs right into me.
on the ground.
He came running out of that church right before it caught fire, so I'm guessing he killed all those people.
Could you identify this "prick" if you saw him again? Is there a reward? Go ahead.
I don't understand.
What's this for? Penny for your thoughts.
All right.
So let's see if we can get a description of that kid you saw.
Kid? Sorry, I don't remember anything about a kid.
Excuse me, miss.
Can I help you? That depends.
Okay.
Now for your favorite subject.
This week, if we knock off the cake tasting, the band audition, and the gift registration, we are way ahead of schedule.
And I've got my heart set on red velvet.
I know you're a coconut man, but And for the registry, I thought we should start with the china.
I think I just want to go white, all white.
Yep, white-- white's good.
I like white.
Tell me the truth, Ted.
Are you just humoring me? Why would I lie to you? _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ Hey.
You're the ice cream junkie, right? What? Well, you're at Moe's all the time.
Oh, yeah, I guess I like ice cream.
So it's not because of me.
I'm just messing with you.
I'm the one who drew the happy face on your punch card.
Oh, I know.
Hey, we need a new scooper.
You should come in.
They're letting me do the interviews.
Okay.
Yeah.
Maybe.
Um, hey, I heard about what Brad did to you.
I'm sorry.
Brad acts like a tough guy, but he's not.
He's just A total narcissistic jerk? Sometimes.
Yeah.
Hey, did you hear what they're saying about Coach Lewis, that he might have been an evo? Uh An evo? Evolved, had powers.
Really? Well, I got to get to a French Club meeting.
But seriously, you should come in for that job.
Brad.
- Hi.
- Hey.
- Want me to pick you up? - Sure.
Come on.
Hurry up.
Let's go.
Why don't you ever stay with us when you're in town? It's complicated.
If you came back, you could work at the shop.
I don't know.
I think your dad's still pretty sore at me.
He's probably over it now that you're a hero.
Hero.
_ But you're like El Vengador.
What, the guy in the Mexican wrestling mask? Ah You comparing me to an evo? They say anyone could turn out to be an evo.
They were just born that way.
There's this website called "HeroTruther.
" And they're tracking how all these evos are starting to disappear.
Someone's taking them, maybe even killing them.
El Vengador's the only one taking care of this neighborhood, the only one the gangbangers are scared of.
All right, I've heard enough about El Vengador.
I've seen enough too.
Is that yours, Jose? Yes.
But people need to know he's not in hiding like the rest of them.
People need to come to a garage without graffiti on the wall.
Now clean it up.
So the kid's got a hero, someone to look up to.
What's the problem? El Vengador isn't everybody's hero.
The tag is bad for business.
And what's Jose need a caped crusader to idolize when he's got TÃo Carlos? Hey, Oscar! I think she's a lost cause.
Transmission's shot.
I don't know.
You hear that? What? I can hear an air lift there.
Just need to replace the vacuum lines to the modulator valve.
She should be good to go.
_ Hey, I told Pop to paint the "S" off the word "sons" years ago.
Yeah, he figured after you came back from the army, you'd change your mind.
Look, war hero or not, you broke his heart.
I hope you know that.
Like it was ever gonna be That's it.
Walk away.
You're real good at that, hero man! See you later, okay? I don't know.
If this thing gets to be over 75 people, we might need to rent a tent.
Sure it's not too late to elope? Sorry.
You have been roped and tied, my friend.
You hold that thought.
What? I'll be right back.
What is it? First rule of tailing somebody: know how to tail someone.
Who are you? What do you want? Answers.
Answers to what? To what really happened on June 13th.
What the hell does that have to do with me? You're Noah Bennet, right? Who do you work for? - Renautas.
- Renautas.
Well, I-I-I worked at Renautas, but not for Renautas.
And I know that you worked for Primatech.
I sold paper.
Sure, along with bagging and tagging and keeping powers under wraps.
And you know this how? Because Renautas secretly owned Primatech.
Primatech is dead.
It's a hole in the ground.
Unless it's not.
That's what I'm trying to tell you.
June 13th is just the beginning.
I just--I don't know of what.
And your name is on hundreds of memos and shredded documents.
You know something about June 13th that nobody else does.
Let me guess.
You're a truther, an apologist for Mohinder Suresh.
Man Suresh had nothing to do with Odessa.
He was a patsy.
How do you not know that, man? What did they do to you? Get a life, and stay out of mine.
Wait, I have the manuscript Suresh was just about to publish.
How the hell do you have that? It's all in here-- how the number of evos is higher on the planet than ever before.
These powers-- their numbers are increasing, escalating.
Why? Is it evolutionary? Is it because they want to take over, like, the media, like, the government, like, wants us to think? No.
- They're here to save us - Save us? From whatever it is that Renautas is planning.
If that's true, then where are they? Huh? You see any people with powers around here? They are all gone.
They are hiding or dead.
Believe me.
If they were here to save us, I would know.
Listen to me, man.
Aw, you called the cops? That's him.
That's the guy.
On the ground! Hands above your head! Oh, you got-- Man! I said down now! June 13th did not happen like they say it did.
You listen to me.
I have been over that day a thousand times.
My daughter died on that day.
You don't just forget a day like that.
You do, if someone doesn't want you to remember it.
That's what I'm trying to tell you, man.
Something big's coming.
Something big's coming! How do you not know that, man? Come on, sir, move! Are you okay? Yeah, he's He's just some nut.
Let's go inside.
_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ "Ophthalmology.
" Relocated from Odessa to Dallas.
The masked man known as El Vengador was spotted again, this time coming to the rescue of a man who passed by a gang member from the 700 block of San Gabriel Boulevard.
It killed a lot of people in Odessa last year.
We all know that.
All I know is, he saved me.
Powers or not, the guy's a hero in my book.
Although many believe El Vengador is in fact an evo, authorities are still debating whether or not he's broken any laws.
Oscar? I don't understand.
You're El Vengador.
Since June 13th, all the world's gone crazy.
Just trying to make a difference.
So you're telling me you have powers.
We all have our secrets.
What's going on? What happened? Oh, my God.
It was a trap.
They knew I was coming.
Who? Who? It's all there.
Carlos, listen to me.
Jose really looks up to you.
He's gonna need a strong hand.
You got to-- What are you even talking about, hey? We're gonna get you an ambulance.
It's not just Jose.
There's others.
What others? Someone like you-- You can put on the mask.
You're a hero.
I'm not-- Everything they say about me-- the medal--all-- No.
No.
You all right? Yeah.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
It's just, um-- I mean, you know, this kid that we're looking for, I mean, there's a good chance he didn't even notice me the other night, and I really think we should be focusing our efforts on finding this El Vengador guy.
The kid has powers.
Full stop.
We're gonna finish what we came here to do.
And then we can go to Los Angeles, see if we can find your Mexican wrestler.
Okay? This really is unbelievable.
We do all the hard work, and this son-of-a-bitch terrorist gets all the credit.
That's the second time now.
I mean, once, that's a coincidence, but not twice.
I'm gonna die of boredom here.
I need to pee.
Have fun.
You've really moved around a lot.
What are you, like, from some weird, nomadic tribe? Uh, I am, as a matter of fact.
Is that a problem? Okay, let's start this interview for real.
Can you scoop ice cream? Uh Yeah.
Congratulations.
You're hired.
Wow, uh, all right.
Thanks so much.
My mom's gonna be really excited.
Well, I will get your uniform, and you can start tomorrow.
Okay, so I've got three sizes, and you can try them in the men's room.
Okay, sure.
Give me a second.
I'll be right back.
I can't believe we made it out alive.
So what happened in there? All I heard is the place burned down.
What do you think happened? I think we shouldn't talk about it in public.
Good idea.
Hey, you forgot to try on your uniforms.
Well, it looks like both of you are going for a little ride.
No need.
We'll take them both now.
Hey! Where are you going? Where do you think? Home, to pack and leave like we always do.
Oh, my God, I am such an idiot, thinking I could have a normal life here.
I'm just-- I'm sorry.
Those people-- where did they go? I don't know.
I don't know where any of it goes.
How's that for the worst power ever? You saved my life.
Tommy! Tommy! Your secret It's safe with me.
Why didn't El Vengador stop them? Maybe he tried.
What good is a hero if he doesn't help people who need him most? You would have.
Look, I hope you know I'm always here for you.
I never even got a chance to tell him, to show him.
Show him what? I kind of want to be alone.
I'm sorry, Jose.
Lo siento mucho.
Can I help you? Yes, um, I have an odd question.
Have I ever been here before? I don't believe so, no.
Do you mind checking your records? The name is Ted B-- Bennet.
Noah Bennet.
I'm sorry.
There's nothing here under Bennet.
Perhaps if you remembered the doctor's name? Yeah, you know, I wish I did.
"See more clearly.
" Sorry.
We have no doctor here named Seymour.
No.
That's just what's written on the card.
You know, I really think I have been here before.
I knew there was something off about this place.
It's okay.
He's a friend.
René? There's a bench across the street.
Wait for me there.
_ You left these the last time I saw you.
Didn't know what I was missing.
René, what the-- Oh, my God.
No.
Not René.
Why were you trying to kill me? You told me to.
What? You made the perfect plan.
You wiped my memory.
You needed to forget.
What did I need to forget? What? It's coming.
It's coming.
No, René.
René, no, no! What did I need to forget? What is it? René! Where does it come from, this fear, this quest This need to hide in a simpler past when the future cannot be avoided? It's coming.
And when it does Everything will change.
If there are those who can stop it Do we know how? It's happening faster than we thought.
I don't think I can control it much longer.
- It's coming.
- René! What did I need to forget? You wiped my memory.
No! René! René! What did I need to forget? What is it? Hey - Come on, let's go! - Whoo! Hey - Hey, Bobby.
- Bobby.
Hey "You going to the party on Saturday?" She asked us and I didn't know High school love Pretty surewhatever I touch just like, ceases to exist.
I think you're being a tad melodramatic.
Seriously, we should be able to figure out how your power works.
You don't understand how dangerous having a power is.
It's like being a witch in Salem.
People hate us.
They want us dead.
How long have you had it? Ever since I was a kid.
When I was, like, seven, these people took me to this place because of my power.
I remember a room filled with toys and stuff.
No windows.
It was kind of hazy.
I think about it all the time.
Especially when I'm scared.
Not like I run around all day terrified or anything.
Will you make this disappear? I want to know what it feels like.
So cool.
Where the hell have you been? - I'm not exactly prison material.
- Shut up.
Sorry.
Thank you for bailing me out.
Why did you bail me out? I went to see a friend.
To vet my memory and your claims about Renautas on June 13.
His place was a front for some kind of an operation.
And then he tried to kill me.
Kill you? What did you do? Apparently what I forgot what worth dying to protect.
When I went back, the place was cleaned out.
So now you are going to tell me everything you know.
Or what? You'll kill me, too? You okay? You look worried.
"Worried" is kind of my default status.
For obvious reasons.
I told you.
You can trust me.
Crap, I have trig.
See you at lunch? Hey, freak.
I saw what you did in the shed.
Yeah, that's right.
And I'm gonna turn you in.
Maybe that's not such a brilliant idea.
I'm trying to get us out of here.
Yeah, well, your itchy trigger fingers aren't going to do the job.
Well, that is one superior brand of drywall.
Just our bloody luck.
Kid was a teleporter.
Where the hell are we? I don't know.
Just keep a grip on it, okay? Dennis had one of these.
God, he loved it.
Maybe we're in hell.
Is that where you think we belong? If we would have let that kid go and focused on this El Vengador, we wouldn't be in this predicament now, would we? My drive, my itchy trigger fingers, they keep us going.
None of this would have happened if you hadn't convinced me to take Dennis-- Why don't your sit your ass down on those itchy trigger fingers of yours, and let me use my brain to get us out of here.
How's that sound, darling? _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ Have you thought this through? Because you know I could make you disappear.
I don't want to.
All I want is to be left alone.
I would never hurt anyone.
I just want to live my life like any other-- And how do I know you're not a radical? Part of that Suresh guy's group? This is crazy! You kicked my ass yesterday at school.
I could have sent you anywhere.
I didn't.
I'm a pacifist.
Whatever that is.
Okay.
Maybe you do something for me, I'll keep my mouth shut.
Yeah.
Anything.
What? Get in.
You okay, Jose? Yeah.
I guess it was a good funeral.
A lot of people came.
'Cause your dad was a good man.
You hold on to that.
Jose, your mother wants you to come back to the apartment.
Carlos, may I speak with you? - Yeah, I should really just-- - It'll only take a moment.
Oscar told me about the rift between you two.
I hope you had a chance to reconcile.
I don't know.
Maybe we did.
He loved you.
Had high hopes for you.
And I disappointed him.
Abandoned the family, yeah? Look, my grandfather ran around in a luchador costume.
He was a clown.
And maybe I wanted to be known for something else.
We all wear masks, Carlos.
What matters is what's underneath.
- Maybe you come see me-- - Yeah, I'm doing okay.
Oscar died because he stood up for the underdog.
Never forget that.
I'll keep that in mind.
When I started "The Biggest Loser," I weighed 242 pounds, and today I'm at 177.
That is 65 Damn remote needs batteries.
Uh, I don't understand.
What am I doing? You're gonna make my stepfather disappear.
What? Why? 'Cause he wants you to buy batteries for him? No, because he's a freaking monster.
At least you have a father.
I don't even know who mine is.
I'd do anything to meet him.
Whoever he is, I doubt he'd do this.
I'm sorry.
That's--that's awful.
I don't know what happens when I He could fall into a volcano.
The more painful, the better.
Please don't make me do this.
Look, this guy sits on his ass all day and drinks.
My mom works two jobs and he beats her, too.
I'm sorry.
I-I really am, but-- What the hell you still doing here? You don't want to poke the bear.
He better be gone when I get back.
I'll get the batteries, Pops.
Tommy's gonna hang.
My family would always ask me to go do What the hell are you doing? Uh, uh I got hired at Renautas to scan and digitize any files concerning Primatech.
Everything was fine until I started reading the files.
Seemed ironic some tech giant like Renautas, like, buy into some tiny paper company like Primatech.
Why'd you stop working at Primatech? Was it because Renautas bought the company? No.
I left after the summit.
After That's right.
Your daughter, uh, I'm sorry.
I was there June 13th.
How did I survive? I thought that I didn't remember because of the trauma of the explosion, but Claire was there, too.
And I didn't save her.
And I have to know why.
No, I'm pretty sure Renautas was behind the whole slaughter.
That's not what the world believes.
You knew Mohinder Suresh.
Was he capable of mass murder? No.
But why is he running? Why is Renautas framing, disappearing, and killing evolved humans? That's why I came to find you.
I figured if anybody had answers, it was you.
Do you? What? Odessa.
I need my files so I can track down an Evo named Molly Walker.
She can locate anyone just by thinking about them.
They built a whole system around her ten years ago.
I've gotta get to her before they do.
_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ Miko! Miko! New shooter, new shooter.
No more bets.
Winner.
This is where the wild things are This is where the wild things are Why don't you give those a little wind for me, honey? - Winner.
- Boom.
You're incredible.
All right, let's go again.
Are you always this lucky? Only since I laid eyes on you.
You must be my good luck charm.
Seven! - Waiter! - Uh, you know what? We are attracting the wrong kind of attention.
Why don't we take this party somewhere else? I'll cash out, we can grab a drink back at my hotel.
Love to.
Not interested.
I'm watching "The Biggest Loser.
" Ah, schadenfreude.
I understand the attraction.
I'm here to discuss an opportunity that I think you will find pretty darned attractive.
What do you say you invite me in and crack us each a tallboy? "The Evo vigilante, El Vengador, "killed three police officers.
"There was an anonymous report of a women being ra--raped.
Patrolman Eugene Pakowski identified the assailant.
" Eugene Pakowski.
_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ Let's have another drink.
Now that is a good idea, Zoe.
To my good luck charm.
Luck.
We both know your run tonight had nothing to do with luck.
What are you talking about? You were either cheating, or you have powers.
You don't seem smart enough to have a system.
I work for the Dragon Lounge.
Ah, come on, I beat the house, that means I'm an Evo? I just needed to make some fast dough.
Look, I swear this will never happen again.
You turn me over and those club goons will kill me.
Or worse.
Then give me the money and hit the road.
It's your only play.
Or not.
Send security to 601! A man just attacked a woman! - Are you okay? - Yeah.
- Let's go.
- Who the hell are you? A good Samaritan.
Trust me, you don't want to be here.
My money's in there.
I saw you in the Dragon Lounge, and so I'm betting the money is his, and you don't look like someone who wants to deal with cops.
Come on.
We'll get a drink.
Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa.
Wait a second, wait a second, wait a second.
I didn't hear anything about toxins.
All right, did they discover that the site was contaminated after the cleanup? Because now this all seems like a terrible idea.
I think it's a scarecrow to keep people out.
You think? Shouldn't we be certain where deadly toxins are concerned? Oh, Jesus.
Am I turning green? Am I turning green, man? Man.
It's so weird to be back in Odessa.
Must be way weirder for you.
Your old job looking like this.
- All your memories.
- Yep.
Weird.
They would have fixed this up if things were still going on, right? Nope.
That'd be just like 'em.
Level five is where things happened.
Jesus.
What the hell are we looking for? I'll tell you when I find it.
Whoa.
Who the hell are you, James Bond? See if you can flag anything with Molly Walker or Renautas.
This would be the jackpot if they found this.
Names, addresses, contacts All with powers.
You said your daughter died here at the summit.
That's right.
You might need to rethink that.
I don't remember this.
I remember arriving the morning of June 13th.
And after that I just knew what the rest of the world knew.
And I just assumed Claire had died here like everybody else.
And if she didn't die here, then where did she die? And how did she die? And why didn't you know? Are they doing something else with the evos? Well, if you can't tell me, who's going to tell me? What? What? Why are you so interested in her? In me? Huh? Little twerp like you should be holed up in your mother's basement trolling conspiracy boards.
I was just trying to help.
Something terrible's gonna happen.
My sister.
They took my sister and I couldn't stop them.
Phoebe Frady.
I'm just trying to find her.
Is this about revenge? Did you think I did it? Was it you? Her power was umbrakinesis.
She could manipulate darkness.
No.
She wasn't one of mine.
And I'm sorry you lost her.
I have reason to believe that Phoebe did not die on June 13th with the rest of them.
The things that I've found, they-- they don't add up.
Claire and I had a fight Right after she Came out.
I haven't spoken to her in over four years.
I wanted to make things right.
I would have done anything to save her.
Maybe there's no answer for me here, but I'd be happy to help you find out what happened to your daughter.
It's the least I can do.
We gotta be honest with each other.
No more secrets.
No more omissions.
Deal? What happens when we've killed every last one of them? I don't know.
Hang up our guns? Why is there no light switch? Sometimes I think that you hate me, Luke.
You're my wife, Joanne.
I don't hate you.
I know I can be a-- a taskmaster.
Why is there no light switch? But I just-- I feel in my bones that what we're doing is right.
And I think that the world is starting to recognize it.
You--you believe that, don't you? I don't know.
Listen, Dennis was afraid of the dark.
A lot of kids are afraid of the dark.
Monsters under the bed, in the closets, so they keep the lights on, but why no light switch at all? Huh? What happens if this room goes dark? Maybe we see something that we're not supposed to.
I know I can be a bloodthirsty cur, but I just can't bear to half-ass it.
- Come here.
- What? Come here.
Stand right there.
Look, man, I-I don't know what you're thinking, but I -I tried, but-- Dude! You are the man! Thank you so much.
But--wait, what? You know what this means for us? It's like we're free.
- Is your stepfather-- - Gone, gone, gone.
I'll never mess with you again.
I'll never let anyone mess with you.
Your secret's safe, man, forever.
I totally got your back.
- Ahh! - Officer Pakowski, you lied about what happened in that alley.
Who told you to set up El Vengador? - Who are you? - Give me a name.
You're crazy! You don't know who you're dealing with! Give me a name now.
He'll kill me! So will I.
Captain Dearing! It was Dearing.
For your head.
I'm Taylor.
Zoe.
Thanks for everything.
You're welcome.
Here's to having a life way more exciting than mine.
You wouldn't like it.
I've got a lot of serious people looking for me.
The money in his room, that's all I had.
And I need it to disappear.
I can write you a check.
Seriously? I have way more money than I need.
I know what it feels like to want to disappear.
Must be nice, not worrying about money.
Unless you earn it, money always comes with strings attached.
Trust fund baby? No shame in that.
I'd trade my hustle for it in a heartbeat.
I wish I had the balls to live without a safety net like you.
Hmm.
I'm only on my knees 'cause there's nowhere to sit.
I'm more concerned with your faith in yourself than your faith in God.
Yeah, yeah, yeah, whatever you were trying to tell me at Oscar's funeral, did it have something to do with this? - Yes.
- What was Oscar up to? He had a secret room in the garage.
A chart with photos of cops and-- After June 13th, your brother started an underground railroad for evolved humans, to help others like him get to a safe place in Canada.
Before Oscar died, he said he was set up.
Oscar believed there was a shadow unit inside the police department set up to compromise the railroad.
I have a name.
Captain James Dearing.
Carlos, I have a favor to ask.
I have to put two evos, good people, on a boat to Vancouver.
Their journey starts from your brother's secret room.
Tonight.
Why do you care so much about them? My only calling is to minister to the poor, troubled, and persecuted, and one more thing.
I don't have a right to be weirded out by you and Brad being bros, but I am.
Yeah, me too.
He punched me the other day, and now he's my best friend.
The whole thing's so crazy.
I mean, Brad thinks you made his stepdad disappear, but you swear you didn't.
Yeah, on my mother's eyes.
You won't say anything, right? Tommy.
There's something else.
You can't tell anyone.
I've been getting these texts from someone who I think is trying to protect me.
From what? I don't know.
But whoever it is they are the reason I didn't die with Coach Lewis in that church fire.
When I touched the flower this morning, I was thinking about the first time I saw you.
I-I ordered maple walnut.
That's it! Things go to whatever place you're thinking about when you touch them.
Do you remember what you were thinking about when you made those two creeps disappear? Uh, I was I was afraid I was being kidnapped, so I was thinking about I was the place they took me when I was a kid.
Observation windows.
What kind of demented place is this? How the hell do we get out of here? You Oh! Wait, damn it! - Wait in the car.
- All right.
Level one.
Level five.
Stevens! Who did this? A man and a woman.
What the hell is going on here? Figured out a way to monetize the evos.
Monetize them to do what? Save the world.
How will they find-- do they have Molly Walker? Epic still launches tomorrow.
She's the only one who could locate-- Is she in Midian? Stevens? Careful.
Watch your step.
This is Sylvia and Damon.
They had to leave their home in Las Vegas because of her power.
This tunnel leads to the harbor.
There's a boat there waiting to take you to Vancouver.
A small token of gratitude.
It's 24 karat.
Thank you.
Oh, my God.
This is all of them.
A whole list of all the freaks.
Names, addresses.
I don't believe it.
Whose car is this? Who cares? What happened? Where's my car? A couple.
They shot me, and then they took it.
What went on in there? Renautas is using powers to create a new technology.
They launch a product tomorrow called Epic in Midian.
And Molly Walker's power drives it.
- You were right.
- Thanks.
I'll find something to sew you up.
Like what? Like a doctor? Some surgical equipment? You're gonna be fine.
We've got to get to Midian and save Molly.
Hey, uh, I think I got a concussion after what she did.
Good Samaritans, what are you gonna do? You drugged me, you bitch.
Who are you? The trust fund baby that hustled you.
We have Molly Walker.
_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _
