I hated him.
It was aggressively, fashionably wrong.
And there's no nice way of putting that.

Her dressed looked like an angry box of French fries.
None of that trash talking is necessary.
"Blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah.
" Tonight on Project Runway After the Runway.
Welcome to Project Runway After the Runway.
I'm Isaac Mizrahi and joining me, is editor-in-chief of Marie Claire magazine and fabulous mentor, Joanna Coles.
Hello, designers.
How are you all feeling? Wonderful, thank you.
Fantastic.
Well, you've all been through the elimination process once before in previous seasons.
Does it make it harder, knowing labeled a two-time loser.
That's for me.
Wow, did you just say that? Yes, I did.
He said that.
You don't want to lose again.
And I didn't want to have another meltdown like I did on season eight, so this week, you visited the u.
N.
, where the challenge was to choose one country's flag and design a dress inspired by the colors and culture of that flag.
I have to say, you all seemed to have a hard time with this challenge.
And we definitely had some issues with your work.
Let's have a look.
Try not to do a dress that looks like this next time.
I mean it.
It's just screaming beauty pageant to me right now.
I think that bow would look better on a Christmas present.
I get communism from this dress.
It's disturbing to look at.
I just wonder whether there are too many ideas in this dress.
I think it needed editing.
I just don't know who can wear that dress or where.
Hair wraps, a bracelet, and all these things that really bother me.
Looks a little tortured.
I can feel his suffering, in the workroom, in this dress.
And she looks okay.
It's not the worst dress I've seen on Project Runway all stars.
Aww.
I was suffering.
Austin, we always enjoy your dresses.
I think of you as queen of the gown and yet you really struggled with this, didn't you? It definitely was a struggle.
In the whole body of project runway, this is sort of my least favorite design.
Normally when I create an outfit it takes weeks.
You know, I really put a lot of handwork and detail into something.
So to create anything in just one day is always hard for me.
But I am never one to just play it safe.
"Oh, I'm just going to do something like two seams up the side, I" ain't nothing wrong with two seams.
Well, mila unfortunately didn't stay in the competition.
But the good news is, she's currently working on a film set as a costume designer.
So she couldn't join us here tonight.
But we did catch up with her earlier.
And here's what she had to say.
Hey, guys.
Um, sorry I can't be with you to talk about the infamous flag challenge.
I think what was really frustrating about getting eliminated on the flag challenge was that I really did stay true to my aesthetic.
And prior to that, I went off of my aesthetic and was criticized a lot for that.
So I felt like, all right, well, I can't do anything right, obviously, so at least I was proud of my work.
I think it's interesting that the bottom two were myself versus jerell, because we could not have been more opposite.
I mean, I feel like jerell's was over-designed and kind of sloppy and very costumey.
I mean, watching it again, I really felt like this is, you know, a Halloween costume.
So that's mila being fairly opinionated there.
Jerell, what did you think? She said that yours was Halloween costumey.
We all have our opinions right.
I mean, I can say her dress looked like an angry box of French fries, you know.
Right.
Well, whatever, it's none of that trash talking is necessary.
Did you think it was trash talking or do you think it was just someone who was defending her right to, like, play as an all star? I mean, what if you'd gotten eliminated? Wouldn't you just speak the truth? To her, that's the truth.
But it wouldn't matter what my opinion is about mila's dress or any of her clothes.
Because we have totally different styles.
I'm not her customer.
Right, yeah.
You thought that mila's garment was cool, right? I thought it had a definite strong point of view.
And there was this very graphic glamour to it.
Clearly there's some differing opinions about mila's dress.
How would you have improved it? I don't not like the dress.
I just feel it looks sort of Soviet.
Your dress had bad angles.
But it was a perfectly finished looking creature.
But when something about that dress of mila's came out, it was aggressively fashionably wrong.
It's like a girl walking into a room, you're going, "oh, no, no, no, no, no.
She doesn't know this, but that's wrong.
" And there's no nice way of putting that.
And that's why that dress went home.
I want to put you all on the spot.
Do you all agree with the judges' decision that mila should have gone home or would you have sent jerell home? Now that I think about it, I really do like what mila did.
I like that it was very different.
I thought it was unexpected.
But yet, it still had the mila hermanovski flair to it.
I liked mila's dress.
And I think she edited it a little bit more than jerell did.
I didn't think her design was that that bad.
Well, she might have been eliminated but she has a clear point of view and she has a real passion for fashion.
Let's take a look at the highs of mila's journey on Project Runway all stars I think I'm the best designer here, because my work is fashion-forward, current, contemporary, and accessible.
Michael, look, no black.
It's beautiful and the design is nice.
This says, "cherry ice cream," so clearly.
Wow.
Mila's grooming services.
I've never worked with faux fur before.
I'm like some crazy cat woman now.
I like the geometry of it.
Mila, you have the high score, and Rami, you have the low score.
Overall, I'm really proud of everything that I've done on this show.
And I've listened to the judges' critiques and tried to use that to make myself a better designer.
We're going to miss mila.
One designer who seemed to embrace this challenge and really take it in another direction was Mondo, tonight's winner.
Congratulations, Mondo.
Thank you.
He did the get the very first choice of his flag.
I would like that to be known.
But why was that? Ooh.
We don't think of you as a gown person.
What inspired the gown? I guess I just wanted to do something new.
You know, like, something that the judges hadn't seen from me yet.
Where is this dress? 'Cause I want to steal it and wear it.
It's in your closet.
I wish it were in my closet.
I wish it were in my closet.
Joanna, you can't wear a bra with that dress.
Sorry, I had to bring it up.
Can't wear it, can't wear it.
Just so you know.
So Kenley was the first runner-up and I have to say I really liked your design.
Well, there was a lot to love about this design, including that you can wear a bra with it.
What do you say to the criticism that you often make the same dress all the time? My silhouettes are very flattering to a woman's body.
And I use different pop elements in different ways.
But of all the designers, you have the least room.
I feel like you stay in a box that's this small.
I'm very true to my aesthetic.
I do a '40s, '50s type of silhouette with a little modern quirkiness.
And that's what I wear.
I will say I wouldn't wear anything else.
That's what a lot of women designers say.
"I design clothes that I would wear only.
" Right.
You know what I mean? And that's what makes them better or worse designers than men who go like, "I can be any woman in my head that I want to be" Right, right.
"And design for millions of women.
" It's true, it's, like, what do consider better or worse? Is it the very, very, personal perspective coming from a woman going, "oh, my hips.
Oh, my bustline.
Oh, my neck, oh, my this"? Yeah.
Did you just sideswipe all women designers by saying that they're so limited that they only design for themselves? No, darling, I sideswiped both.
I think I'm just processing a huge insult to women designers.
Wait a second, no.
Did you hear what I just said? I said, "is it bad or good?" Or good.
We have a very special guest tonight who's going to shed light on their friendly rivalry a bit more.
Please welcome Kara.
Yay! Hi, pretty girl.
So, Kara, how are things? Um, things are good.
Things are really good.
Obviously, you go through this whole process and it definitely changes you in ways that you don't expect.
For me, it was very difficult sometimes to watch, especially, um, with, you know, what you had said on camera.
That dress, it wasn't offensive.
It was to me.
Is she an all star? Which I felt was, you know, very difficult to be questioned as an all star.
Right.
Is something I really took you are an all star.
Thank you.
And it's a really difficult format to put yourself out there.
Yeah, you know what? You're definitely amazing.
You are one of the great designers and somehow is she an all star? Of course she's an all star.
Thank you.
She was already on the show.
I justit was a figure of speech at the moment.
I'm so sorry it came off that way.
No, of course.
Honestly, what I meant more was, "is that dress worthy of that all star?" All right, well, when we return, we'll get into the cliques among the designers and why designers just say no to women wanting to wear a bra with their clots.
Is it "project friendship" or is it Project Runway? No.
I was terrified of him.
Did anybody sleep with anybody on the show that we didn't know about? Blah, blah, blah, blah, blah blah, blah, blah.
Who would you have sent home, jerell or mila? Well, I mean Project Runway all stars is the best.
Because we get to see all of our favorites from past seasons coming back.
And get to see them battle it out again.
Yeah.
You know, we wanted them to win so bad at theyou know, the different seasons that they were on and now we're gonna get to see, really, who's the best of all of them.
Mila is probably the most opinionated.
She says whatever's on her mind.
And is always kind of a Debbie downer with the other designers.
It's fine if you have an opinion, but why do you always have to be so negative about it? Hey, jerell, um, I think you should do menswear, man.
You got to getdress hip guy like me.
It's a ladies world, but you know, I want to look hip and cool too, as you could tell.
So, you know, give us some menswear.
Isaac, what's the one piece of clothing you can't live without? I have to say a T-shirt, at the risk of sounding boring, because it's something that I wear all the time, and if it's not right, it drives me mad all day long, and I can't wait to rip it off when I get home.
So I think it's all about, like, a T-shirt.
Jerell, you've clearly got a fan.
How do you feel about designing menswear? I thought that was me from the future.
I'm like, "is this, like, some total recall or something?" Actually, I love menswear.
So it's something I am kind of working on right now.
You can check it out on my website, jerellscott.
Com.
Get some.
Ungh! Kara, who would you have sent home, jerell or mila? Um, wow.
Right here.
I think I would have well, I mean, I probably I probably, I think, I mean No, wait, wait, wait, wait.
Just spit it out, just go.
No, because I actually appreciated design mila's aesthetic.
I thought it was a great dress.
I think I would have sent yours home.
Okay.
It was a little too It was a little, "ah-ya-ya.
" You always, maybe, mix too many people together.
But I loved it.
Okay.
And I love you and I'm sorry.
I love you too, girl.
I mean, I have to say, beg a judge, that was the hardest part every week was the sending home.
It was, like, you know, me and Georgina were sort of grasping at each other like that every week.
Oh, it's emotional.
It was really horrible.
And calling and texting, "did we do the right thing?" And on the flip side of it, someone winning was always so great, you know.
Giving someone an award, you know, every week was really fabulous.
One thing I know the fans have noticed in the workroom is the cliques.
And I know you know what I'm talking about.
Wait.
You're talking about a "click"? I'm talking about a clique.
Okay.
It's a French word.
Oh, my God.
Michael.
Oh! Kara, are you feeling Madagascar? It feels like the beach.
Kara, look at my fabric.
Wow, that's beautiful.
I think that Kara and Kenley are becoming quite codependent.
No, no, not high.
Did you want me to finish this for you? No, this [Bleep.]
done.
Now, Kara, you and Kenley and Austin seem to have, like, a lovely sort of trinity going on.
Can you address this a little? Like, what was it that was special who was father, who was son, and who was holy ghost? We became friends on the all star show.
I had seen both of these lovely ladies on television and had never had the pleasure of meeting them, really, in person.
Michael and Mondo already had a very strongly formed friendship from the very beginning.
Right, that's true.
You know, sometimes you need those sounding boards, even in the environment that we are, because it's so stressful.
To say sane, yep.
You have to vent with one another.
Right.
Or just bounce ideas off have a conversation about the design we're doing.
Yeah, yeah, just chatter.
He loves it because he had to watch what we call I had to watch them.
I sewed behind he made up a show called, "silver roots.
" We're going to be 80.
We're going to have silver roots, dyed hair.
At the nursing home.
Just like, "blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah.
" Like, sewing, sewing, sewing, sewing.
Being all yenta-like.
Working on their snuggies.
Something.
I was cracking up.
Yeah, what is wrong with that? There's nothing wrong with that.
Nothing.
It was entertaining.
It's essential.
You can't get from a stressful I don't think people were bothered by the laughing and the chattering.
I think once it got to, like, if we, like, gave each other an opinion, people got upset.
Like, "oh, they're helping each other, oh, no.
" In the end, what is your agenda on the show? Is it "project friendship" or is it Project Runway? No, it's not necessarily, but I don't think you have to step on toes to get to where you need to be.
Right, that's true.
I think that everybody goes their highs and lows through this thing.
And these friendships are just something that carries you.
It's yourit's your it's your stamina.
Mondo and Michael, you didn't get on when you first met in the first season.
Right.
And you were on a challenge together, weren't you, in your previous season where you actually had to get on? Right, and I hated him.
And I was terrified of him.
You were terrified of Mondo? I was terrified because, to me, in that room, he was, you know, the best, you know, fashion-forward, really cool designer, and I was afraid to be his sample maker.
Well, let me just say this.
I'm not really excited about this, because your construction is awful.
You have to draw your lines.
I can't believe you don't have a ruler.
Michael c's fabric choice? I don't like it at all.
It gets me a little upset sometimes when people say I can't sew.
Looks good.
Yeah.
After working with Michael costello, I know that he's a good guy and I was being a dick.
Sorry for being such a bitch, but it's okay.
You know, our friendship was built on respect, because I really underestimated what he could accomplish.
And once he started listening, I knew that he was really wanting to learn, and to really achieve something, you know? That's where our friendship kind of built.
And even on the show, yes, we're still friends.
But in reality, we're competing against each other.
Yeah.
I always feel like the audience is always wondering why people are friends and how we actually become friends in such a short amount of time.
But we're really all we have.
Mm-hmm.
We're really each other's ears, eyes, shoulders, you know.
That's it.
I mean, that's the truth.
It's really hard because you live together.
That's it.
You're not just working in same room, you're living in the same room.
Did anybody sleep with anybody on the show that we didn't know about, seriously? Oh, my gosh.
I want to know.
We're not telling.
Okay.
What happens on project runway stays on Project Runway.
Kara, just tell them the truth.
I can't, I can't.
Remember? That's right.
One drunken night, I remember.
Well, when we come back, we're going to play something called, "the fashion jab of the week.
" And one of you will be the lucky winner of that challenge.
And Joanna will finally get to address, to us, why she is so obsessed with the idea of wearing bras with dresses.
What is that about? Oh, another dress that we can't wear a bra with.
We want to be able to wear underwear with clothes.
Welcome back, everyone.
Tonight we're talking with the remaining all star designers in the competition.
But despite their talent, it turns out that nearly all of them are guilty of one very serious fashion faux pas.
Take a look.
Let me ask you a question that designers hate.
How do you wear a bra with that? You don't.
The back is gonna be really dramatic.
I'll spin it around for you.
Oh, another dress that we can't wear a bra with.
You designers, you just try to torture women.
We want to be able to wear underwear with clothes.
Is anyone in this room doing a dress where a woman can wear a bra? Yes, no, no, no, I'm not I'm not finished.
Finally, a dress that a woman can wear underwear with.
Absolutely.
Isaac, what is up with that? How are you treating women like me who just want to wear underwear? I mean, I have to say, for every dress that you do that you can't wear underwear with, you do two that you can wear bras with.
But you can't skimp on the sex appeal just for that customer who needs a bra.
You have to kind of do both.
But I do think that it's a big difference between male and female designers.
Everything you design, Kenley You can wear underwear with.
Am I being unreasonable here? No, not at all.
I thinkas a male designer, I think it's a very valid request.
But for most women across America, I don't understand how these dresses translate into real women's closets.
And all of you want to be designers that have a big enough customer base that you can support yourself in the lavish lifestyle that Isaac Mizrahi has.
Project Runway versus "project retail" for instance.
Do you know what I mean? Right, but Michael, come on.
You design almost nothing I'm guilty, I'm guilty.
Talk to me about this.
I just have to tell the truth, I'm guilty.
Everything you've seen on the show with me was either low-cut, backless, or one-shoulder and was held up by a string.
I think, as a designer, you should be able execute your best work and put what you see in your head on the runway.
And then, yeah, offer a rendition of it in a ready to wear piece that you can wear a bra with.
What I do think Joanna brought to the workroom is, like, questioning a designer's intention.
Like, do you think about the real women when you're designing? And I think, really, you're designing for people that are buying your stuff.
Yep.
And I love that.
Okay, okay.
We have one final bit of fun.
We've put together a tape of all the terrible, but wickedly funny things you said about each other on tonight's show.
Yay.
We're gonna play them.
And at the end, we're going to choose fashion jab of the week.
This is not grease lightning right now, this is grease frightening.
The back is exquisite.
All she needs now is a crown and she could possibly win miss world 2011.
I find a really beautiful blue and white print.
I have never seen a polka dot flag before, but I guess the state of Kenley Collins has polka dot flags.
Fabulous.
I really think the outfit was one of the most vulgar, tasteless, hideous things I've ever seen in my entire life.
Darlings, those were some real zingers I have to say.
Joanna, this is gonna be a really difficult decision.
I know, I'm loving Mondo's comment.
You are, which one? Yes, the one about Michael's dress being fit for miss grease 2001.
Right, grease frightening.
I like mine.
I like the state of Kenley Collins.
Because she does actually need her own state.
Yeah, polka dot flag for the state of Kenley Collins.
And after all, it is her world, right? I liked it too.
I thought it was cute.
I love "excuse me, like, that is the most hideous, disgusting, vulgar dress I've ever seen in my life.
" That was pretty bad.
That was bad.
So, wait, Joanna.
We have to make a decision here.
Come on, what do you think? I think, maybe you're right, the state of Kenley Collins.
Oh, really? Okay.
Yay! Congratulations, Michael.
You are the winner of the jab of the week.
And Joanna, my darling, that's all we have time for.
Say it's not so.
It's been such a pleasure.
It has been.
That was really fun.
It's been my pleasure.
And designers Michael, Mondo, jerell, Austin, Kenley, Kara, it's been fun as always.
We'll be here next week after an all new Project Runway all stars.
Good night, everybody.
Good night.
And find out what gets our judges' knickersor is it bras? In a twist.

Good night.
