Tonight on After the Runway It's sayin' that you're real and you're not, you're a fraud.
I'm definitely that real, but-- Say it to me.
I told you to your face.
Put that energy out there, that's what you're gonna get back.
My heart's racing a little bit.
You just learned how to sew.
Yes.
Because all of a sudden it's like And I have a gown! I don't feel bad.
I really did just learn.
After the Runway 1x02 Let's Hear It for the Girls Welcome, everyone, to After the Runway.
I'm your host, Zanna Roberts Rassi.
This is where we will dish with the designers about tonight's episode, and get to the bottom of some unresolved issues.
Hi, everyone, how are we all? Are we good? That was quite the episode.
High drama.
It was very high-- I really felt for you all throughout that whole thing, and obviously it was really special because it was the finale, the last runway, and then you found out who is moving forward.

Josh, Anya, Viktor, Kimberly.
Thank you.
I'm sorry! I'm sorry, I'm like, "oh, can they not all go through?" No, that's okay.
Oh! How do you feel about the whole thing? Um, you know, I mean, like I said in the episode, it was a great experience Mm-hmm.
And I only think that all of us will be strengthened by it, regardless of what-- In what way? Strengthened as a designer.
I mean, it tests your aesthetic.
Like you've got to know, and you've got to be certain.
Mm-hmm.
Do you think you should have been eliminated? Should you have been the one to go? I mean, hell--okay, um, being honest, because I'm an honest person, I do feel that Kim should have gone over me.
I don't think that what she presented was as strong, as far as aesthetic, or technically.
Kimberly, how do you feel about that? Um, I think she's entitled to her opinion.
It's just the opinions that came behind the scenes and not directly to me.
You know, just like her sittin' here sayin' that she's so real and honest, but yet there were a lot of things said behind the scenes that weren't-- Such as what? It was this episode where, "Oh, Kim's stuff is this, that, and a third," whereas, she never said any of that stuff directly to me Right.
And it's like, if you're that real, say it to me.
I'm definitely that real, but I know when to have tact, and there was no reason for me to interject my opinion on your clothes.
If you would have asked, I would have told you straight out.
Your claim in this whole thing was that, "Oh, I'm real, I keep--I'm honest," and stuff like that, and you were saying back at the apartment that, you know, I don't say anything about you guys behind--you know, to the camera, behind closed doors, but yet you were, the entire season.
I mean, in the last episode, absolutely.
No, not just this episode.
I think that Kim's stuff is really confusing.
Two of her garments look like they have goiters growing out of her legs, so I don't get that.
You don't wear, you know, plastic fabric.
How are you gonna wash that stuff, with a washcloth? I think it's Kimberly, and I think Cecelia are in the bottom, for sure.
Well, don't you think Kimberly has a chance of being in the top, perhaps? No, no, I can't see Nina in that at all, honestly, I'm like, "whoa.
" It was the Nina episode, it was the sheep-- I told you to your face, and you know that, I did.
You said to me, you said-- No, I told you to your face.
What you said to me during the Nina challenge was, "Oh, I "just said that I didn't think Nina would wear a gold top.
" You didn't say all of the stuff that was said and was shown on tv and behind-the-scenes stuff.
I told you that I couldn't believe that Nina picked yours.
I said it to you, I did.
I'm not--but that's not the only time, it's not only the Nina challenge, it was the real woman challenge.
You were like, "Oh, she doesn't know how to design for real women, the list goes on and on.
I mean, it was like, so if you-- You're really quite sensitive.
Well, yeah, because it's not about your opinion about my stuff, because I don't-- You clearly care quite a bit.
I care that you're sayin' that you're real, and you're not, you're a fraud.
I think it's unfair to pick on Laura for things that-- I'm not.
We all have had moments where we might have said something that we didn't mean to say, or we might have said that we had some kind of loyalty, and maybe it wasn't 100%, it's just human nature.
I've never said anything about the two of you to the camera.
The reason why you don't see it on the TV, is because it's not there.
Yeah, but is that really genuine, though? I'm just sayin' that if-- whatever you felt, you should have just said it to me, 'cause I wouldn't-- If I was ever-- She's go it, all right.
If I was ever asked to say it.
Quit! If I was ever asked, I said it.
All right, guys.
And you definitely had intense situations.
Yeah, and it was like a professional intense situation.
It was just great.
Well, that's it.
I mean, speaking of professionals, you obviously had, you know, Nina talking to you a lot, and we heard Yeah.
You know, Tim tell you that Nina had questioned your taste level.
Yeah.
I'm not saying this either to be mean or to hurt your feelings.
Mm-hmm.
Nina has this thing about you, and she has her radar up when she sees your work.
I know.
I just want you to know that she gets bristly about your taste level.
If Nina says no, there's no way I can push past that.
Now, how do you feel about that? I think that Nina did have it out for me.
I could tell from the initial casting, before Tim even said anything I go, "Nina doesn't like me.
" No, I thought she was paranoid.
I really didn't understand where it was coming from, but she just, she just knew, it was instinct.
I could see it, I could just see it.
It was--and it's fine, because I was like, "Okay, she can be, if anything, more tough on me--" Mm-hmm.
And that'll only make me better.
I work with Nina on a daily basis, and, uh, she has impeccable taste Sure.
And if she says, "it's a problem," it means you have a problem, be scared, be nervous.
You know, and she does know what she's talking about, beyond-- Sure.
And I think you were right to say, "this is what it's about, and I have to please them.
" Absolutely, yeah, yeah, yeah.
You all had help anyway on this challenge from your fabulous assistants.
Well, let's bring two of those very able assistants back out.
Oh.
Becky and Olivier, come on out.
Hi! Come on.
Hello! You guys, I'm gonna go straight into you two.
How was it working back with Viktor, then? How is is, being on a team with him? Bring it, sister, bring it.
I mean, like, helping Viktor--Viktor was very, um, he gave me a lot of freedom to do what--not really, but like, yeah.
Like, it's easy to work with him, and work for him in that case.
Becky, you were the first one to be picked by Kimberly here.
Yes.
You were obviously super-happy about that.
Well, I'd worked with Kimberly before, and we'd worked really well together, and there was good communication, so that's exactly what I was hoping for.
If it had come to it, would you have worked with Joshua? Well, I wouldn't have had a choice.
That's also very true, however, we did hear some strong words between the two of you over the course of a few episodes.
Ugh.
Indeed.
Let's take a little look.
I don't want to point fingers, but I will say that Josh did start us off very badly.
Who do you think is the weakest link? On this team, it was Becky.
You know, I just don't see much design within the outfit.
I think he wants Bert and I to go home, so he can have his fun with the rest of you.
Becky, this is not about having fun, this is about creating a product that people are going to want.
I know what I want to deliver to someone, and I feel that you don't.
I do.
So that is probably why I should be here, and you should not be here.
Will you let me design the top for the skirt? Becky, you do dowdy dresses, you know that.
Your demographic is like 40 to death.
Excuse me? You told me to make a princess seam dress, so you can't blame me for the dress being dumpy or not cool.
I am not having drama with you, Becky, so you can cry and do whatever you need to do to get over it.
Becky, if you're tired, take a nap, 'cause I don't have time for it, I'll do it myself.
Aw.
Oh, I don't want to see you cry! And I'm sure it's not fun to relive or watch that again.
That's okay.
Tell me-- Actually my heart's racing a little bit.
Is it? But you look rested.
Why, because you feel bad? Did you take a nap? 'Cause you look good.

I mean, you know, if we just keep living in this bubble of this drama, it just isn't gonna help our careers or just our energy, you know, and I think it's all about energy for all of us up here, it's like-- But I do want to say, Joshua, that when you put bad energy and negative energy out there, that's what you're gonna get back.
I agree with you.
I'm not used to people being that hostile to me, or that aggressive towards me, and I was already not feeling like I had a place within the group Right.
And that pretty much killed it, and I don't think I ever recovered, and that's why I went home when I did.
That hurts me to hear that.
And I think I'm a lot more sensitive than I realize.

I'm Zanna Roberts Rassi, and I'm here talking about this season of Project Runway with some of the fabulous designers.
Joshua, what were you thinking then? I did not handle it in the best--in the best way, and I just would love to put this in a little box, hide it in the ground, and let it just dissolve into the earth, into something new, you know? Put a little, pink bow on it, maybe.
I'm good with that.
And I--I just hope you know, chances are I'm completely more insecure than you are, I just can hide it better at certain points.
Wow.
Wow, okay.
You know, I'm a softie.
I believe that.
Well, I'm sorry that you felt it necessary to be like that, you know? It was for that cha-- It's sad.
I wanted us to win, and we ultimately won, that's not only my dress, it's her dress, and your dress, so-- Yeah.
Consider yourself part of a victory and part of a win.
Okay, it's time for that little segment I like to call, "Clearing the Air.
" I want to know more about this "girl pact.
" We didn't actually see this girl pact form, tell-- Mm-hmm, it was behind the scenes.
It was in our room.
Tell me, how did it happen? I think it was when it was, you know, when Tim walked in at one point and was like, "it's 70 to 30," percentage-wise, and we were like, "oh, my gosh--" Battle.
And so we said, we've got to even the score, and that if we felt that anything of the girls was not up to par, that we needed to say something.
Let's take a quick look.
Oh, no.
What's Kim doing? The fabric that Kim has chosen is not current, there's nothing that's really popping about it.
Should we talk to her? I don't think you should, number one.
We made a pact.
I don't care if you're friends.
We made a pact.
There are three of the girls left, and we have made a pact that we will be honest when we see something of our work going off-track.
If we tell her it's bad, then she's not gonna believe in it.
Okay, well, yeah, I mean, I think the pact probably wasn't a good idea, because there also comes a point where like we do need to start worrying about ourselves.
And we can't all stay till the end.
Yeah.
What's up, girls? What's up? Hi.
The unsuspecting fool.
Ah, why when you guys both thought that Kimberly's designs were less than beautiful, didn't you tell her? Well, what if we would have said something to her? She was safe, so our feelings were off, clearly.
Do you know what I mean? Mmm.
It's opinion, I mean-- It's opinion.
I mean, at that point, it's taste.
She was fine, and, I mean, you saw me.
What about the pact, girls? What about girl power? You saw me snap back at Viktor, I said, "we had a pact!" You know? Kimberly, what do you think about that fact they didn't tell you.
I felt like-- I clearly was the only one that didn't know that we weren't upholding the pact, and that was the only thing, I mean, why--you just, like-- Oh, I'm just saying that I should be blamed for this, I was the one that was mostly like, "we need to tell her.
" No, I'm not blaming anybody, that's the thing.
Like, are you gonna talk about-- What I'm saying-- Maybe what we should have done, in retrospect, is said, "listen, now we're in "competition, let's just all be doing what we're doing.
" Right.
That's probably what we should have done.
What I'm upset about is that I was the only one that did not know that we weren't upholding-- you know, forget the pact, it was just, you know, I just-- Just have been honest and said, "this is over now, let's just compete.
" I mean, I just want to say that I felt sick watching some of the episodes, like physically, 'cause I don't like that I said some of the things that I said, and I just--I mean, it's hard to go back and do anything about it Right.
But I really do apologize and I feel very compassionate to everybody for the things that were said to me, too, you know, it just is what it is, it's done.
I just think you shouldn't--I mean, you should do whatever you want, but you shouldn't apologize for doing what you felt at that moment, because we're human beings, and we all explore Right, right.
So you know, we learn from that, if it wasn't because of that, you would not be here right now.
Well, is there anything else that's niggling anyone, and they want to get it out on the table? Josh? Just, I am learning a lot about myself as a person through this whole experience, and watching it, and, you know, I'm 25 and I'm growing with age, as a designer, as a human being, and I just want people to know that, you know, I'm learning, and that's what life's about, is to learn who you are, and learn from other people, so this has been the most amazing learning experience, as well, you know, and for situations like this, that I have to now watch it or document it, I'm like, "you can't be doing that.
" You know, Becky, I hit on the fact that she's sensitive, I want people to know that I am extremely sensitive We know.
And a lot of this comes out as a wall that I throw up, in order to defend who I am.
Mm-hmm.
Because I have been come at my whole life.
I've been bullied, so it even hurts me to hear people calling me a bully now.
Mm-hmm.
Because ultimately, I would never want to do what someone has done to me for years, and that--it's so hurtful to hear that.
I have apologized to Becky on the show, and if that didn't seem sincere to viewers watching it, you know, I hope Becky knows within her heart, and I apologize to you, and I hope that we can move forward from this.
Becky, do you accept this apology? I do.
Oh, I'm gonna cry! Oh, it seems that's really genuine, as well.
Yeah.

Hello, baby! I'm so glad you're here.
How are you? Thank you so much for coming! Oh, thank you, of course.
Oh, how exciting.
I wouldn't miss this for the world.
Are you kidding me? It's so-- Darlin'.
What did you think of this season? I really thought it was an exciting season, I have to say.
I love the show.
I'm part of the brand.
The family.
Of course, I'm part of the family, papa Nick.
So I love seeing all the different creative designs, from everybody.
And of course, the drama.
So I love, you know, seeing other people go through it.
I don't know if I would go back.
It's true.
Yes.
So I have some questions, actually.
Please, go for it, go for it! Go, ask questions, please.
I'm gonna play the voice of the viewers, you know, and things that we've been dying to know, and I'm gonna go to Olivier.
A lot of my readers Mm-hmm.
Uh, who read my blog, and as well as myself, have been wondering about your accent.
Okay.
It's so true.
I'm like, where--I'm British, and I've never heard anything quite like it.
You haven't, okay.
Yeah.
I know you were born in Ohio, right? Yeah, I was born in Ohio.
Tell me, tell me.
And then I moved away when I was two, two years old.
I was raised in Taiwan, I lived on the West Coast for a little while, and I went to London when I was 16, and I went to Milan for university, and I moved back to London after that.
Okay.
And then I moved from London to here, to New York, this February, and a lot of people have been asking me, like they're being--accusing me of copying a British accent, but like, I think Zanna knows, it's not a British accent.
It's just a mix breed.
It's a real, like, hybrid of different accents.
It's definitely not like the northern accent that I've got, like North England.
It's more--it's a well-to-do accent, we'd say.
All right, so now we've established where the accent comes from, right, I have a second question.
Yes.
It seems that possibly you had a problem with the sistas.
Do you know what I'm talkin' about? They do.
I mean, he doesn't know.
The girls.
With the double Ds.
Okay, oh, with the boobs? We call them the sistas, right? Thank you.
Do you still have that issue, and why? And why did you have that-- I don't have that problem with any of our body parts.
With these things.
Her breasts are like ginormous.
Is that correct? Big, yeah, big.
You know, I don't like women having boobs, I just want them to be flat, like when I come up with the design.
I think that distracts the whole line.
Tim, am I allowed to ask you what double D means, like breast size? What do I know about it? I just know it's a bra size.
I don't have any personal experience with it, Olivier.
Those boobs to me are trouble.
Those were problems when it comes to design, but not a problem in general, like Why would I have a problem with any body parts? You can have boobs as big as you want, I don't really care.
You know what double D is? I wasn't like having no clue about--that's a bra, like a bra cup size, I was wondering why it didn't go from A-B-C-D to E, but double D, 'cause you don't see double C, double B, double A, you know? Oh, God! I think we're good, right? I think we're good, we got the boobs down.
I love it.
That's my question.

All right, I want to discuss now, let's see, Laura.
Thanks, thanks.
All right, I want to talk to you about money.
Okay.
Now in this last challenge you had $300.
Ooh, I was angry.
Miss Laura, she had $300, and she done been spending like $700, right? Oh, Imelda Marcos over here.
Whoo! I think what I do, with the limited amount of time, I never wanted to be stuck up at the counter, being like, "I wish I would've cut that.
" Right, right.
Mmm.
And so I'm like, "just cut it all, I want it all, I'll take it," and then for like the one challenge where Bert was very generous to give me money for the group rocker challenge, um, I actually bought enough fabric to make two different looks, and I didn't even use a whole batch of it, but it was because I was like, "well, what if," you know? Right, right.
I mean, I didn't want to run into an issue.
I will be no stranger to saying that I love to spend money.
You heard it here, she loves to spend money.
I do.
Mom's like, "oh, gosh--" I know.
"There's my girl!" Yeah, right? I think now I'm gonna, like, do the little "spin the bottle with Nick," and it's gonna go to Anya.
Oh, how did I know? All right, so with you, I think the main, important thing that a lot of the viewers want to know is, the sewing.
You just learned how to sew.
Mm-hmm.
And then you created some amazing things, and everybody's like, "where did that come from?" And I remember that a lot of the viewers, a lot of people, you know, I talked to said, "well, was she lying?" Right.
Right? Yes.
Because all of a sudden it's like "And I have a gown.
" Yes.
I can't make a jacket, I'll just put it out there.
I don't feel bad.
We don't wear jackets in the Caribbean, so I don't feel bad about that.
I'll learn, but, um, you know, when the people question me about the sewing, I feel it's kind of an underhanded compliment, because I really did just learn, and it's sort of like, well, I did the best that I could, and it really shocks me as much as it shocked anybody else.
I was always last.
Mm-hmm.
I was always sewing people in, I mean, those are the part of the "make it work" moments.
Right.
The people with more experience, I understand the frustration of not-- Right.
Of being further ahead, and then I still won some of the challenges.
Right.
You know? So--but I guess all I can say to my defense is that I worked as hard as anybody else Mm-hmm.
With the tools that I had.
And you still made it work, and I have to say, it just showed that you were and are a talented designer.
Thank you.
And I always say that, you know, it isn't--it isn't Project Seamstress, it does help to have that experience, but in the end, that's why the tagline comes in, "Make it Work.
" Exactly.
You know, and you have extremely innate sense of style.
Finally, I just want to say that I want to give you a hug for being part of the five crew.
The five crew? 'Cause I was number five on Season Two.
Oh, well then, we're number-- Oh.
So welcome to number five! It will be a new show, "Five.
" It's good, because you're like, I mean, I made it far, but-- Yes, yes! Oh.
