MAYOR BRADY: At this time,
let us welcome our special
guest, Mr. Connor McGrath.

First, I'd like to thank you
all for adding this little
speech of mine to the
agenda on such short notice.
My family appreciates the
condolences of the Council
for the recent
passing of my brother,
and your fellow council
member, Cliff McGrath.
To know Cliff was
to argue with him.
[LAUGHTER]
Truth be told.
But you also know that
he respected y'all
and that he loved
this land, this
this beautiful
land we all share.
And in that spirit, and the
spirit of new beginnings,
I accept your emergency
appointment to the council seat
left vacant by my
brother's death.
I'm honored.

MAYOR BRADY: Thank

JUSTIN (CONT'D):

friends with the Vice

I don't know how that went
but I mean, maybe you know.
But I'm not asking that,

Does Oak Miller ever say much?
Only when he's talking
about his granddaughter.
He did tell me my three
horses were stolen.
And turns out he was right;
they weren't in the stalls.
Wranglers found
'em this morning.
He was fishin' for somethin'.
Man handled one of my ranch
hands pulling his sleeve up
like he was looking
for a scar or tattoo.
Scars and tattoos have stories.
There's a sight
more to this one.
You think Oak's
looking for trouble?
I don't know what's going on
but five, or maybe
six years back,
Oak found one of the Wade
boys breaking into his house.
Oak gave him the
choice to walk away.
Guess he decided
to pull a knife.
So, Oak disarms him.
Ties him up behind his horse
and he drags him
through his property.
Probably would have killed
him had he hadn't to drive
Twig to ballet practice.
Good to know.

ELLI: Knock, knock.
Oh, hey, let me get that.
- ELLI: I got it.
- Oh.
You sure the diner

JEREMIAH: What

But he's right about that.
I like his style.

JUSTIN: So, Twig told Maddie
that Oak took her here
to practice driving.
No one really comes here since
the highway went four lane.
Poor girl, I can't imagine.
JUSTIN: Barbara Banning said
that Oak was checking
the workers to see
if they had any
scars or tattoos.
Well They clearly
didn't care about
covering their tracks
because they're all here.
JUSTIN: Looks like the
truck stopped here.
I got some hoof
prints right up here.
See one's up at the front,
couple pair off to the side.
Seems like we've got
a leader of the pack.
MAXX: I don't know what
they were thinking.
Oak Miller's pretty
much the last person
I'd want to make an enemy of.
Twig said it was all a
spur of the moment thing.
It was the first
vehicle to come through.
So three people, waiting
around in the middle of nowhere
to stick up an unknown
truck for no money?
Alright, Maxx go into town,
ask around and see if there's
any similar incidents.
RP, go back to the station and
call around to the neighboring
sheriff departments and
see if anything pops.

Gonna go talk to the victim.
[GUNSHOTS, GLASS SHATTERS]

I heard something about
three people on horseback
holding you up.
Taking your boots
and your buckle.
More importantly they
shot at your feet
and pointed a gun at Twig.
I know how hard it is raising
a teenage girl in this world.
I know how hard it
is to protect them.
How's she doing?
Oak, you gotta talk to me.
You gotta tell me what happened.
You're gonna have to
file a police report.
OAK: Why?
So that I can track them down
and bring them to justice.
I'm not interested in justice.
So you're just gonna let them
get away with whatever they did?
Who said I'm gonna let

[GUNSHOT, GLASS SHATTERS]

[ENGINE STARTS]

JUSTIN: So he heard that
there was a fight

Just another Wednesday for us.
JUSTIN: Dixie did you

really orders shots

- Old Olsteen?
- JEREMIAH: Yeah.
It's the oldest, nastiest
maintained rye
whiskey in America.
Oak-y and citrus-y.
Not in a good way.
Stab of cinnamon.
Some cardamom and
rhubarb, and leather.
MAXX: Sounds awful.
JEREMIAH: Oh darlin', it's
much worse than awful.
DIXIE: Guy that started the
fight asked me who's the
toughest person in here, and
everyone knows that's Booster.
Darn straight!
JUSTIN: Did they have
any tattoos or scars?
The blond guy at
the table had one.
It was red and blue and
kinda came to a point.
Which arm?
His right arm, right about here.
Oh, you're strong.

Jeremiah.
Deputy.
You don't have to worry
about parking tickets.
So, they stick up a
truck and only take boots
and a belt buckle.
Then they drink old
whiskey, start a bar fight
seemingly for the fun of it.

Well, they've done two
stupid and dangerous things.
Let's hope they
won't make it three.




KELTON: One

It just seems like a lot

Seems like there's a
habit of not talking
to law enforcement around here.

JUSTIN: Ideal is definitely
not the word that
I would use to describe this.
Look, I know that
you and my brother
didn't always come to
the same side of things.
But I'm not my brother.
Cliff was difficult on purpose.
But that's not my style.
Way I see it, we all live here
and we all need one another.
I agree.
CONNOR: For example,

I mean c'mon.
You know, I'm on the Council
now, and I'm at your disposal.
Mayor Brady said there's not
enough money in the budget.
Begging for money that
doesn't exist is the old way
of doing things.
I think maybe you and I could
find a new way.

CONNOR: Something that's
mutually beneficial.
Way I figure we're
both outsiders here.

get things done?

I didn't mean to

I didn't have a good angle.

That vehicle was reported
stolen an hour ago.

Cowboy hat, bandana, one gun.
Flashy belt buckle
