- Okay. So we can definitely make that work.
Especially I think we can
work with the existing
floor plan
without having to
take down walls or anything,
- which will save some money.
- [Kristen] Okay.
So here's what I'm thinking.
First of all,
what's most important
is getting rid of this
awkward shaped island.
Do a large island
in the middle,
all one level,
all counter height,
with bar seating on each side
and we can do a nice sink in
the middle with a dishwasher,
all facing out here.
- [Kristen] Perfect.
- [Nick] Perfect.
Okay. From here, we can
do the refrigerator right here
and then we can do
some uppers and lowers.
Start here, remove
the crown molding
and carry the cabinets
all the way up the ceiling,
that way you have
more storage.
- [Nick] That would be amazing. Yes.
- [Kristen] Amazing.
[Christina] Do a nice,
slide-in range with a hood vent.
And then, just continue all of this
as counter space, tons of prep space.
- [Nick] That's great. Yeah.
- [Kristen] Love it.
And then over here,
where we have this
blank wall with a calendar,
I think it would be great to
do floor-to-ceiling cabinetry.
Like a really large pantry
with pull-out drawers.
- [Kristen] Love that. Yes. Love that.
- [Nick] That is perfect. Yes.
[Christina] In here, I really wanna
make this room super cute, right?
Right now it feels
a bit dingy
and I think it can be really nice
and much more your guys' style.
- Yes.
- [Christina] I'd love to do a super cute tile floor,
so it's like the first thing you see
when you come into the garage.
And then we can do,
sort of like a mud room.
We can flip the washer dryer
to this wall, where the sink is.
And then we can do,
like, all cute storage,
uh, maybe a sitting area,
kids can take off their shoes,
put everything away.
And then on this wall
we can do a cubby system.
- [Kristen] Love it.
- [Christina] Hide everything, organize, light and bright.
I think that's gonna make
a huge difference.

It's a little more
than I was thinking.
And I don't know that

It'd probably save about

Spending money during

But, I'm really glad

I think it's going to look

I love the effect of the

that two cars are included with

As you walk in you'll notice

- [Josh laughing] I love your sales pitch here.
- [Nick laughs]
You really want to sell this.
There was, like, a hoarder
situation who took over?
[Nick] Yeah, because the guy

Somebody came in and squatted
and ransacked the house

There's a door back here that
goes down the stairs to the garage.

That's a little bit nicer.

is going on in here?
[Nick] Again, open concept

You could, theoretically,
get two car in here.
- [Christina] Okay.
- [Nick] You know, stacked back to back.
- [Josh] Nick, you've got to stop selling this place.
- [Nick laughs]

This house is definitely,
it's bad.

If we can renovate
this place properly,
it's going to yield

So what do you guys think?
I mean, we're not paying full. I think
we can probably work something out

Just a little work. I love it. He

soil area to expand the tank
or even bring ours
up to date and code,
we have to remodel it
as it sits.
Wait, who told you

James over at Sage.
Well, luckily we know him, because
I know he knows the ins and outs,
because I would have had no

After seeing this house
all cleaned out
and now hearing we potentially
couldn't expand the house
and also this whole
septic tank issue,
I'm just not sure

that we're stuck with,

So you have all this storage

[Nick] Amazing.
[Kristen] This is, honestly it seems

said that we can move those pipes.
[Christina] So, what's that
gonna cost?
Eh, plumber said it's gonna cost
about $1,000 to move those pipes.
And then, what we're
gonna do here is,
structurally, we still have to have a
header there, but we're lose this and
that way we can get in
about a foot on each side.
[Christina] I think this is going to
look awesome one it's all opened up.
But I do have a question.
What is happening over here?
[Kristen] Yeah, so I kind of
did a thing.
So this was like this really
ugly wet bar slash junk closet
and it was covered by this really
ugly, old, like, accordion door
- Oh.
- that I just hated.
- No wonder I didn't even notice it.
- [Kristen] Yeah.
But it's like the first thing your eye
sees when you come through the front door
and it's always bothered me. So when
the demo guys were here I just told them
- to rip it out. [chuckles]
- [Christina] Well, good for you.
- Yes, she did.
- [Christina] That's a great executive decision.
So now what are you thinking
you want it to be?
Honestly, we can't go over
budget too much to do something,
anything kind of grand.
But I would love to do just something
kind of, like, decorative, bar area.
Maybe some, like,
lower cabinets
or something with
some floating shelves.
[Christina]
Maybe we just carry
that really beautiful, um, Calcutta
marble slab all the way up?
- [Kristen] Ooh.
- [Nick] Oh, interesting.
- That would look stunning.
- Pause.
- [all laugh]
- Hold on a second.
- It all comes with a cost.
- Oh, gosh!
If you want the showpiece

- imagine that beautiful Calcutta just carried up
- [Kristen] Yeah.
with the light-colored
floating shelves.
- Mmm.
- I mean, it would look so good.
- How much would that cost?
- Yeah, what are we talking?
Yeah, it's gonna cost you
about $3,000 for the whole setup.
I don't know how I feel about
going that much over budget.
It's a little more
than I was thinking.
And I don't know that
I can, like,
maybe I'm not quite
conceptualizing it.
Well, we could save money
and not do
the counter going
all the way up.
And what would that save?
It'd probably save about
750 bucks.
So, not a ton.
[Nick sighs]
I mean, I guess, yeah.
I guess let's go ahead
and do that.
It will look really good.
- We'll make it happen.
- [Kristen] All right. Great.

- All right. So we've got a plan.
Spending money during

I think it's going to look

As you walk in you'll notice
the open concept kitchen.
- [Josh laughing] I love your sales pitch here.
- [Nick laughs]
You really want to sell this.
There was, like, a hoarder
situation who took over?
[Nick] Yeah, because the guy

Somebody came in and squatted
and ransacked the house
and just destroyed it.
- Squatted and just like swam in trash.
- [Nick] I guess so.
- [Christina] I mean, what is happening?

We're fine. We're fine.

I love it.

I love it too.
It's a perfect project for us.
There's a door back here that
goes down the stairs to the garage.
Okay.
It's a garage space that kind of
shares like a little basement space.
Does that look like this?
- You know, honestly
- [Christina] I'm gonna take a peek at that
That's a little bit nicer.
- [Josh] We gotta see. I gotta help you here.
- [Nick laughs]
[Josh] First step has
stuff on it, so don't slip.
- [Nick] Okay, careful.
- [Josh] If so, just use my back.
[Christina] Oh, my gosh.
What the heck
is going on in here?
[Nick] Again, open concept
downstairs.
You could, theoretically,
get two car in here.
- [Christina] Okay.
- [Nick] You know, stacked back to back.
- [Josh] Nick, you've got to stop selling this place.
- [Nick laughs]
All right? Listen.
It's got no potential

Let's go talk outside.
I'll be throwing all these clothes

This house is definitely,
it's bad.
- It's bad.

and what it does have
is potential.
What it does have
is an amazing location.
If we can renovate
this place properly,
it's going to yield
a huge profit.
[Nick]
So what do you guys think?
I mean, we're not paying full. I think
we can probably work something out
for, like, $600,000 'cause it's
obviously a complete teardown.
Yeah, it just needs
a little work.
Just a little work. I love it. He

soil area to expand the tank
or even bring ours
up to date and code,
we have to remodel it

James over at Sage.

I know he knows the ins and outs,
because I would have had no

septic tank issue,

Walking in, I definitely feel like I'm
looking at one of those high end homes
that just got built, you know,
that I see all the time
and now we have ours.
It feels so huge.
It feels huge. It's so bright.
Yes. See, losing the window, luckily, I
feel like it's more bright in here, now.
[Nick] Probably one of
my favorite things
is getting rid of that window
back there.
It just feels
light and bright. I love it.
- We don't miss the window at all.
- No.
[Kristen] I can't stop staring
at how many cabinets I have.
- Right?
- [both laugh]
The storage game is strong.
You guys have got
all the storage.
You have the beautiful pantry,
but then also just the fact that we took
the cabinets all the way up to the ceiling,
and then the island has a massive
amount of storage, too, it's endless.
[Kristen] I just get so
excited, like, visualizing, like,
the kids coming after school to get
snacks and do their homework here
while I'm just, like,
prepping dinner.
- It actually makes your life easier.
- [Kristen] Yes.
Not only is it beautiful, but
it's so much more functional.
[Kristen] Yeah.
[Christina] And what do you
guys think about the backsplash?
[Kristen] It's gorgeous.
I love, like, the high gloss and there's so
much movement to it when the light hits it.
- [Nick] Yeah.
- [Kristen] It's beautiful.
It looks incredible.
And still a timeless choice.
- [both] Yeah.
- [Christina] Absolutely beautiful.
One of the other things
that I'm just now noticing, too,
that makes
such a big difference
is how you guys opened up this whole
entire casing and, like, took it up.
- It makes such a big difference.
- It does.
You just totally see
the whole living room, now.
You're able to see
the kids hanging out.
You can actually see
the TV from here.
So you have all this storage
in the kitchen,
but we also gained
this amazing pantry.
[Nick] Amazing.
[Kristen] This is, honestly it seems
so silly, but a dream come true.
Yes, totally.
This is honestly, probably more
efficient than, like, a walk-in pantry.
- I feel like.
- [Christina] I agree.
Now, with this new pantry, I just
envision this beautifully-organized space.
I cannot wait
to start using it.
And right behind you,
your new mud room.
[Kristen] Wow.
[Nick] That looks different.
For sure, that's amazing.
[Christina] Just by flipping
the washer-dryer,
we were able to add
the drop center,
all the kids' backpacks, shoes,
lunchboxes, so much more convenient.
[Kristen] Yeah.
And the flooring
was a huge update.
- [both] Yeah.
- [Kristen] It's beautiful.
I wanted to do this area
as far as a drop zone,
just to make it convenient. The
kids come in from the garage,
leave their sports cleats,
their backpacks, shoes.
- Exactly.
- Yes.
I can relate.
We have one in my house.
And, you know,
it's hit or miss.
Sometimes the kids do it,
sometimes they don't.
But at least it's there.
It looks cute.
Yeah, no, this is great. I mean, we
didn't have anything like this before.
And it's going to be
great for them.
Christina was definitely able to help
kind of add in so much of the function
with the kids and just kind of being a
mom herself, knew what we needed.
It was really helpful to kind of
have her perspective joined in.
- I'm very happy for you guys.
- [Kristen] Thank you.
You guys deserve this kitchen,
this home. It fits you guys perfectly.
- And this isn't goodbye.
- [Nick] No, it's not.
We're real estate
partners in crime now.
- Thank you guys so much.
- [Nick] Thank you so much. This was amazing.
Some would maybe say
that we're crazy
that we did a reno with Christina,
like, the week after we had a baby
and we are crazy. It was
It was an interesting summer,
but it's so worth it.
Yeah, it's been amazing and
we're just excited to get all settled in
and start our new lives in our new
space with our whole entire family.
Cheers, new kitchen.
Yay! Whoo!
Yeah, new kitchen.
