Expedition Impossible (2011) s01e02 Episode Script

Light My Way!

Previously on Expedition Impossible welcome to the kingdom of Morocco.
Your expedition has begun.
13 teams of ordinary people Oh, my God.
Look at this.
It's insane.
Set out on an expedition like no other.
Camels! We don't have camels in Kansas.
From the start, the massive sand dunes proved to be too much for the Country Boys.
If you lay down, we're gonna be done.
You gotta get it together.
(Groans) Forcing Chad to almost quit.
What in the hell have we gotten ourselves into? And when Mom's Army took their first step over a 300-foot cliff - I can't look over, it make me crazy.
(Abbie) - I know.
Mom's fears soon became a reality.
Aah! I didn't want her to hear me crying, because I knew that that would, like, freak her out.
(Cries) I'm feeling really concerned.
And at the end of the first stage, The Gypsies came out in front.
(Men) Yeah! And in a race through the dark It would have been a heck of a lot easier in daylight.
Grandpa's Warriors edged out Latin Persuasion You're the last team to come across the finish line.
Sending the girls from New York home.
12 teams remain.
Which team has the right blend of courage, teamwork, and character? Find out tonight.
all right, guys.
Welcome to stage two.
The last team that crosses the finish line will be sent home.
This morning you'll be traveling to the ancient rabat Kasbah.
To get there, you will travel a half-mile on foot, until you find a horse outpost with 36 Arabian stallions.
Until you reach the Kasbah and your first checkpoint.
- Good luck.
(A.
J.
) - I hate horses.
And if I get a hoof to the face I mean my face is kind of pretty.
I don't wanna have to deal with that for the rest of my life.
You will now be released in groups, based on how you finished the last stage.
Gypsies, as winners of the first stage, - you get a 5-minute head-start.
- All right.
Be strong, work together, and never give up.
Gypsies, your expedition continues now.
(Akbar) The Gypsies kinda have the idea that they've already got this race won.
You might not have gotten the memo, but we're full-throttle.
Akbar's in shape now.
Yes, I spoke in third person.
We're really trying to get that number one spot.
(Eric) Between the three of us, we've traveled to over 30 countries.
You know, I mean, we've experienced all different sorts of cultures and, you know, I think that's gonna give us a huge leg up in the competition.
Straight ahead.
(Men speak indistinctly) For this expedition, we knew that arabic would probably be the most widely spoken language out here, so we brought an arabic phrase book so we could look up "which one's the best horse"? (Speaks arabic) (Speaks arabic) (Speaks arabic) Yeah? Yeah? (Speaking arabic) (Man) Oh, that's great.
All right.
Fab 3, Football Players, Team Kansas Your expedition continues now.
I think that some of the other teams underestimate us because Ryan and I are gay and because we have a girl on our team.
We hope to God that they do underestimate us.
That will be the biggest mistake they make in this race.
All right, Country Boys, Fishermen, No Limits, New York Firemen your expedition continues now.
(Nick) The first stage was rough on all of us.
I think everybody Not just the Country Boys But everybody's feeling pretty physically whipped.
Already blisters on our feet, but we're just gonna keep pushing through.
California Girls, cops, Grandpa's Warriors, Mom's Army Guys, you're in the last wave.
Your expedition continues now.
Being in the army has helped Ruthie and I realize that we can push past our limits in anything.
But, like, we saw Latin Persuasion go home.
We just don't want to be in that spot.
(Man) - You guys ready? (Man) - Oh.
Do I just pick any one? Where's the biggest one? Where's the biggest one? Look, I love animals, but I'm not stupid.
They definitely don't have horses in South central Los Angeles, that's for sure.
I don't think that I would've gotten on a horse if it wasn't for this expedition.
(a.
j.
) Let's go.
Coming from Kansas, horses are around, so we've all had experience with them.
I went to horse camp in sixth grade.
(Chuckles) We were really excited.
We felt confident and pretty comfortable with the horses.
(Woman) Gosh! Oh! Whoa! Slow down, bud.
(Ricky) Y'all ride horses in Kansas a lot, don't you? Well, not these types of horses! The Kansas girls every time we got close to 'em, it seemed like our horses started acting crazy.
(Horse whinnies) (Mackenzie screams) Aah! Lindsey, get it away! (Lindsey) I can't! Aah! (Bleep).
No.
Lindsey? The horses they just did what they wanted to do, and we could pull back as hard as we wanted, and they kept going.
(Woman squeals) (Woman whispers) It's okay.
Shh.
Shh.
(Kelsey) Mackenzie got really nervous and ended up crying halfway through.
(Mackenzie) I c I can't, Kelsey.
(Kelsey) - Yes, you can, Mac.
- I can't.
Yeah, I see you.
I am 18.
I think most people my age won't realize how hard this really is.
I'm riding horses that are nothing like horses in America Not trained.
I am supposed to be at school, going to my locker, going to math.
(Mackenzie) I just wanna get off this freakin' thing.
I just wanna get off.
(Whinnies) (Whinnies) (Man) Come here.
Come here.
This is your horse right here.
This is your horse.
Come on.
Come on.
Okay.
Yeah.
You know, being blind, I'm really nervous.
I mean, there's really bad potential.
Whoa.
Whoa.
Whoa.
(Speaks indistinctly) (Imitates horse whinny) Great.
Great.
That's awesome.
I got a I got a tough horse, he said.
(Men speaking indistinctly) (Man) No.
No.
Oh, (Bleep).
Come on.
Come on.
Come on.
(Bleep).
Damn! (Grunts) (Jeff) New horse.
(Ike) Jeff just fell off the horse.
(Erik) He did? Whoa.
Whoa.
Whoa.
Did it throw him? Yeah.
It looks like he's doing okay, but I'm not sure.
I'm really nervous.
Uh, if that horse bucks me, I can't see where I'm landing.
I-I don't wanna have irreparable damage.
So I'm just trying to survive.
(Snuffles) Four miles into the race, the front-runners Gypsies (Man) Yeah.
Football Players, and Team Kansas Have adjusted to riding their Arabian stallions - and are pushing ahead.
- What did you name him? - Aladdin.
- Aladdin? Mm-hmm.
We're consistently riding with the Football Players, and we kind of kept with them the whole time.
(Man) We're right on The Gypsies' tail.
We gon' catch them guys.
We're gonna have to wait for The Gypsies to make some mistakes because they're within striking distance, but they have a lot less load to carry, so to speak, because they're all probably under 120 pounds.
So we're gonna have to do some strategizing just to get in front of 'em.
(Akbar) I didn't think black folks could ride, uh, horses.
Slow down.
Slow down.
(Jeff) Stay with me, Erik! To the left! No Limits are an amazing team.
I mean, the guy Erik It's motivating us because we've never rode horses, and this guy is doing it blind.
I see him riding.
I'm like, wait.
I-I could do this.
(Jeff) Pretty cool, Erik.
Uh, there's straight walls up on both sides.
Crazy-looking rock climbing potential.
You know, putting Erik on the back of a horse Things could go bad real quick.
You know, can you imagine galloping on a horse - blindfolded? - Ike? Ike? Keep coming.
Keep coming.
He's right in front.
I've got you lined up.
It's okay.
Okay.
I bet it was so scary for him.
I can't imagine.
The Country Boys make a big move on the horses and join the lead teams.
(Chad) Get lost.
There you go.
(Chad) Being a country boy, I ride horses all the time.
Give me somethin'.
There you go! I picked the biggest stud they had, knowing that it'd be the lead horse.
We kinda just went John Wayne through the thing, and and just took it over.
(Jason) Nick is gonna fall off.
(Man) Whoa.
In the middle of the pack, the New York Firemen, - The Cops - Whoo-hoo-hoo! Fab 3, Fishermen, and Grandpa's Warriors (Jennifer) Lean forward, grandpa.
Continue at a steady pace.
Take it down a notch.
While Ellie from Mom's Army is helping her daughters keep up.
(Ellie) You're doing awesome, Ruth.
Remember to sink in your seat.
Yeah, you can hold on to the mane and the saddle.
(Ellie) I love horses.
I was a little hesitant because I have never been on a stallion before, but I love horseback riding.
Having never ridden horses before, the California Girls find themselves far behind, in last place.
(Woman) Whoa.
Whoa.
Whoa.
Whoa.
Whoa.
Oh, my God.
We're team California Girls.
We all met in college and bonded immediately because we're extremely driven and athletic.
For me, I've always had a plan, and my plan is for us to win.
Come on.
You got it.
Come on.
No.
No.
No, no.
(Christina) All right, let's go.
These horses are definitely not, like, happy trail horses.
These are, like, Arabian stallions that are You have zero control over.
And Natalie was so scared that we basically just did a slow trot.
Go the front.
Good job.
And if other teams were galloping on theirs, then we were, like, hours behind everyone else.
(Christina) Are you okay? Okay.
We can do it.
I know.
I feel so bad, but my horse is crazy.
The Gypsies are the first to arrive at the checkpoint and the Country Boys have shot up to second place and are now just two minutes behind The Gypsies.
(Man) All right, let's take a deep breath and get composed.
"The instructions to your next checkpoint "are trapped at the bottom a large urn in the courtyard of the Kasbah before you.
" Teams must now search the Kasbah for a bucket to get water from a nearby reservoir, but they must choose carefully, because the large buckets are leaky and the small buckets hold more water.
Then they will use their buckets to fill an urn, which when full, will release their next set of instruction.
(Man) What are we looking for? (Man) Bucket.
Bucket.
Here's a bucket.
Guys, here.
(Man) - Got a bucket.
- "The instructions next to your next checkpoint "are trapped in the bottom of a large urn in the courtyard of the Kasbah before you.
" (Man) Do you want the small or the large? How are we gonna decide whether we want the small or the large? Look, look.
This one doesn't have holes.
That one has holes.
No holes.
The big bucket's got holes all in it.
- You got the bucket? - Yep.
Small bucket.
"The instructions to your next checkpoint are trapped at the bottom of a" "Large urn in the courtyard.
" Oh.
Should we get the bigger one? That small one is not going to fill it up.
Okay.
Bigger one.
Okay.
(Indistinct conversations) (Ricky) So there's two buckets.
There's a small bucket and a large bucket.
Ideally, if you figure out you need more volume, you wanna pick the bigger bucket.
Oh! Oh, there's holes in that piece.
We should've kept that small one.
And so we fill the bucket up with water, and there's tons of holes in there.
Do what you gotta do, though.
Trying to be a quick thinker, I take my shirt off, thinking that it's gonna plug the holes up and maybe hold some of the water in.
Let's go.
(Man) Oh, still coming out.
Go, go, go.
(Kelsey) The Football Players They had a larger bucket, and they used their shirts to try to hold in that water.
(Laughs) The Football Players with their shirts off was was very nice.
Straight, straight, straight, straight.
Erik, you wanna just stay, okay? H h guard our packs right there.
We screwed up.
I just wasn't thinking at all.
I just, uh, didn't have my wits about me.
(Panting) (Whispers) Damn it.
I spaced, and we took off and left Erik, which was a stupid, stupid mistake.
Hey, Jeff.
Hey, Jeff.
I hope we didn't screw up, man.
We pull in to the bucket challenge, and there's a lot going on.
I just got caught up in it and totally forgot that we just left Erik right there We have to stay together.
- I know.
I know.
I know.
- Yeah.
Which was a stupid, stupid mistake.
- Let's go, Erik.
- Nice path.
What comes with guiding Erik comes check my individual expectations at the door.
I can only go as fast as my brother can go, who's right next to me.
All right, we're 15 feet from the water source.
At the rabat Kasbah, The Gypsies, Country Boys, No Limits, Football Players, and Kansas are battling for the lead.
In order for us to get the instructions to the next checkpoint, we had to grab the buckets, fill'em with water, and fill these huge urns to get the instructions and the map to pop back up.
Ah.
This sucker's leaking, man.
Look at that.
(Chad) Try to pack mud on the inside.
That's what I'm doing.
(Jason) The less trips we gotta make, the better.
We chose the large ones Obviously we can carry it pretty well and there were holes all in it, so we just tried to play smart and started grabbing some plastic bags off the ground, just some trash, and filling in the holes in the bucket.
Do you want me to get it? We thought we were in a pretty good lead, but we did a lot of quick trips with the small bucket, and so we just knew we had to make up time.
(Man) Go, go, go.
You're good.
Go for it.
(Mackenzie) Gotta hold it level or else it spills.
I know.
Ah! It's heavy.
(Mackenzie) Oh! Ohh! Hang in there.
Sorry.
I didn't I didn't say it was your Oh, my gosh.
This is when we can't get bickery with each other.
Flag's right here.
Come on.
Let's go.
(Man) All right, good.
You got it! "The instructions to your next checkpoint are trapped at the bottom of a large urn" "In the courtyard of the k-Kasbah before you.
" "So choose wisely between the large bucket and the small bucket.
" See if we find something here.
We're not the strongest team.
We're not the weakest team.
It's anybody's game.
It's it's just how you perform that day.
Just figure out where it's leaking.
See it? Put your fingers there.
Easy.
(Man) Being with the s.
W.
A.
T.
Team for 13 years, we're solving crimes.
That's our profession.
We're used to working under adverse conditions.
We're used to working as a team, and I think that's gonna help us with, uh, solving the puzzles and problems on the expedition.
Where's our bucket? This way.
Hey, where you going? What? Jim, where you going? Our bucket's right here.
Come on, Dani.
The same color.
Yeah, it is the same color.
You're right.
But remember where your bucket is.
No, there's no cracks.
That has cracks all over it.
Guys, small bucket.
But wait.
This one's leaking.
Small bucket, kari, with no cracks.
Look.
It's sealed.
Okay.
When it comes down to making decisions a lot, my brother A.
J.
is pretty controlling and just kinda overrides everyone.
He always thinks he's right, and that drives me crazy.
(a.
j.
) Deep breaths, everyone.
Oh.
Real heavy.
Real heavy.
(Nick) We were able to get a full bucket, dump it in, one pour, filled it up so we could get our map out of the urn real quick.
"Inflate your kayaks, "paddle approximately 4.
3 miles downriver, where you'll find your next checkpoint.
" All right, let's go.
The teams must now trek down the Magoon River, where they will inflate kayaks and paddle 4 miles down treacherous rapids until their next checkpoint.
- Come on.
We're almost there.
- Okay.
(Whispers) Wake up.
Okay.
All right.
Steady pouring.
(Eric) - Okay.
(John) - Got it? Okay.
- All right, grab that map.
- It's right here.
(John) Let's go.
Go, go, Eric.
(Taylor) - Which way, Eric? - We're heading left.
Booyah.
No, Erik, let's go.
Oh, I was gonna say, so much better.
(Kelsey) We got passed by at least four teams because we ended up getting the large bucket first, and it was harder for us to carry than those big men.
The small bucket is the best choice.
Yeah, best option by far.
For sure.
While Kansas falls behind Ah! The Country Boys are first to arrive at the Magoon River, where they will inflate their kayaks and head downstream.
So we need to carry all this down there then.
When we got down to the river bend, there were inflatable kayaks and water gear.
We all have white water experience.
I feel like we're gonna dominate that as well.
This is where we can get through and paddle through.
Get some more momentum.
(Chad) Just try to stay in first place right now.
(Nick) Going from seventh place to first place, we feel like we're on top of the world right now.
Definitely shows us no matter how far behind you are, you can always come to the front of the pack.
Looks like The Gypsies got here.
They know we're coming for 'em.
(Man) Go, go, go, go.
So we see that the Country Boys are still gearing up, they're still pumping up their boats, their muscles are bulging out.
It's a little intimidating, but we knew we had to get ahead of them.
(Men speak indistinctly) (Groans) (Jason) We gotta focus on getting downstream quickly, staying together as a group.
Don't get in it right there, Chad.
Get it over here Get it faced the right way.
- Just get in and go forward.
- You ready? (Man) Go ahead.
We're getting in the kayak, and being big guys in in a shallow river Come on.
(Chad) It didn't work out well.
(Man) Gotta catch up to the Country Boys.
(Nick) Get off that rock, Chad.
"Follow your map to the river bend, where you will find your next checkpoint.
" As the rest of the teams successfully complete - the challenge - Here we go.
River bend.
Great.
Sam, come up here.
We got it.
The California Girls' lack of experience with horses has put them 45 minutes behind.
It leaks.
It leaks? That means we gotta hurry.
(Christina) After our challenge with the horses, then we reached the bucket challenge, and we picked the wrong bucket.
We're losing so much time.
Slow.
Slow.
We just split some.
I know.
We're not happy about being in last place, but we kinda see it as it's our time to be the comeback kids.
Okay, hold on.
We just knew that we had to hustle today - 'cause one team's going home.
- Oh, okay.
Here it is.
- All right.
- Whoo! Yes! (Jason) Chad, the object of the game is to go forward, - not backwards, okay? - That's what I'm doing.
Chad obviously doesn't know how to kayak very well.
It gets really frustrating because even these small rapids that should not be a problem at all, for some reason, we're having some trouble.
We know we've got teams coming up behind us.
Don't know how well they're doing.
Don't oversteer.
Just steer it.
(John) We see one of the Country Boys, and he's kinda having a tough time.
The thing about Country Boys is that they love their country cooking, you know, so they they had a little bit extra weight than we did.
Whoo! (Jason) I guess we're gonna see The Gypsies back on top tonight.
(John) We know how to read a river, we know where the white water's going.
We passed up all three of the guys, and, uh, it felt pretty good.
Unbelievable.
As The Gypsies recapture the lead, No Limits and The Cops are moving swiftly on the river.
Grandpa's Warriors, who barely escaped elimination during the first stage, are using their paddling skills, moving up to the middle of the pack.
Meanwhile, in the back of the pack, Kansas, Mom's Army, Fab 3, and New York Firemen are floundering.
Come on, Kev! (Man) Plug into the G.
P.
S.
where we're going.
(Bleep).
(Speaks indistinctly) Kev, come on! (Bleep).
We'll ride the current.
I would describe our team as a bit overweight (Chuckles) The underdog.
But with the most mental strength to finish this expedition.
(Sighs) (Man) Hurry up! (a.
j.
) Got cottonmouth so bad.
(Groans) I'm not a big outdoorsy guy.
I live in L.
A.
I would love nothing more than to go to our pool and, like, drink a pitcher of mojitos.
Kari? Thank you.
Oh! (Boy laughs) Ugh.
So gross.
(Kari laughs) I have almost, like, what the hell am I doing here? I might as well just put a handful of dirt in my mouth.
Miserable! (Men speak indistinctly) I think there is the potential that people could get hurt or or die.
People are flipping their kayaks and getting pulled under the water.
Oh, my God.
(Woman) Other side! Yeah! Just keep going.
And you don't have to go one on You don't always have to go one and then the other.
Just keep it moving all the way.
So we get in the river.
Mom's, um, a little uncomfortable.
I think that she just couldn't quite get which side to paddle on, and frustration was just brewing.
(Ellie) Why am I doing this? (Woman) Get out now, mom! Get out of your kayak.
(Ellie) Guys! (Woman) Ohh! (Woman) Get out now, mom! Get out of your kayak.
(Ellie) Guys! My mom flipped her kayak.
She gets sucked right under, loses her paddle, loses her kayak, and she starts panicking.
(Speaks indistinctly) Tell me when you're ready.
I told you, I don't really like this very much.
It scares me.
(Abbie) My mom is fading fast.
Ruthie and I are just looking at each other, and we're like, aw, man! (Abbie) We're coming.
(Ruthie) Don't worry.
Just don't get down and get wet, mom.
Okay? As we're kayaking down the river, we see that Mom's Army is having trouble, and we just decided right then and there that we're gonna use that opportunity to get ahead of 'em.
(Woman) Let's do this.
Let's do this.
(Abbie) That's good, mom.
Keep going.
Keep paddling.
My mom's struggling, and it's directly affecting our team performance, so we have to, I feel like, really push her to keep going.
(Abbie) Nice job, mom! Nice! While Ellie's fears have caused Mom's Army to drop to last place, the lead teams are arriving at their next checkpoint.
Sweet.
Right on target.
(Exhales deeply) "The map that leads to the finish is locked somewhere inside the dwelling of the village craftsman.
" Teams must now head into the village, where they will find a map.
They will then search through dozens of lamps to find the one correct lamp that will light the way to the finish line.
Right here.
Right here.
Here.
"Place the correct Moroccan lamp over your camping light.
" We have that, right? "And the location".
(Eric and John) Yeah.
"Of your next checkpoint will be illuminated on this map.
" Okay.
(Speaks indistinctly) Okay, where's the light? Where's the light? Got it.
Open it up.
"Head into the village and look for the craftsman's dwelling.
" Let's go.
(Jim) That was a blast.
(Robert) All right, Dani.
Come on, read it, baby.
Read it out, girl.
"The map that leads to the finish is locked somewhere inside the dwelling of the village craftsman.
" Place your camping light" Like this.
And then it'll point us to the right one.
(Eric) Wait.
Read the directions again, guys.
"And the location of your next checkpoint will be illuminated on the map side.
" (Man) - There it is.
There.
- Which way it's gotta be? (Taylor) We might have to rotate it, too.
Does it matter if we change Okay, right here, right here, right here.
That's it.
Right there.
You got it.
All right, it's, uh, it's old bridge.
Old bridge.
Old bridge.
Old bridge.
Old bridge.
Let's do it.
Having now revealed the location of the finish line, teams must trek approximately 2 miles down a winding canyon in search of the old bridge.
The bridge is an indicator they are close to the hidden finish camp, which can be easily missed because it is concealed by these stone walls.
It's not that one.
Get another shade.
(Chad) Just grab one.
There it is.
Now turn it.
Right there.
Old bridge? Yeah, old bridge.
- We're going downriver.
- All right, let's go.
(Eric) Good job, fellas! Whoo! (Taylor) We're back in first place.
Uh, we got a couple-mile run down the river to, uh, to get to the finish line, we think.
You guys doing good? So it really looks like the Country Boys and The Gypsies are going neck and neck right now.
They better really watch out, 'cause we're coming.
Let's go, guys.
(Robert) We leave the lantern challenge.
We're at the top of the pack.
We're feeling really good.
Let's go, Jim.
Here they come.
Here comes another team.
Upriver, the New York Firemen and Football Players' extra weight is causing problems in the shallow water.
Kayaking and I don't get along.
Let's just say it's this, um, hate-hate relationship.
Kayak hates me, and I hate kayaking.
(Man) You're too heavy for this river.
It's not tall enough.
(Man) Stay right.
Holy (Bleep).
Come on, Kev.
I bounced my head off the rocks.
Thank God for those helmets.
Like, it bent my neck, like, it was like Kinda like I was going to the chiropractor An underwater A hydro chiropractor.
I wouldn't have wanted to be those rocks.
I think my fat head might've helped me there.
(Man) Hurry up! "The map that leads to the finish" (Speaks indistinctly) "Is locked somewhere inside the dwelling of the village craftsman.
" Which one do we how do we know it's a Moroccan lamp? (Woman) Um, everything in here is a Moroccan lamp.
"And the location of your next checkpoint will will be illuminated.
" Is that what we want to do? Place the Moroccan lamp over it? No, not that.
"Place the correct Moroccan lamp over your" Give me a Moroccan.
- What's this? - Aha.
Over.
What's that tell me? (Speaks indistinctly) "Place the correct Moroccan lamp over your camping light.
" "The map that leads to the finish is locked somewhere inside the dwelling of the village craftsman.
" All right, let's go.
Let's go.
- Are we doing this right? - It's one of these guys here.
It's not that.
It's very typical.
I think it's this one.
See the holes in it, Joe? Yeah, see.
Like this.
Hold on.
Hold on.
Just make sure we're doing it right.
(Man) Fishing's tough because you're always getting hit by waves, and the sea's coming over the bow of the boat.
But this is a whole different element than what we're used to.
Right there.
Old bridge.
We gotta go to the old bridge.
Let's go.
Wait a minute.
Time-out.
Going on straight.
No, no, no.
'Round.
'Round.
We are.
'Round, 'round, 'round.
Put 'em in.
We normally fight because Joe is, a lot of the times, doing a lot of the challenges, you know, on his own, and sometimes he doesn't wanna listen when we're on the side, trying to tell him something to do.
Old bridge.
Let's go.
We got it.
Hold on.
Time-out.
Old bridge, Joe.
I'm telling you.
I just wanna check something.
And the other one.
It's right.
Okay, good.
I'm gonna read all the instructions.
Go ahead.
'Cause if we mess up here we already messed up.
Right.
We know.
So relax.
"You must find the correct lamp" All right.
(Woman) Chay, we need you! (Erik) - You got it? (Jeff) - I've got it.
Okay, let's go.
We got it.
So we got it.
Let's go.
Aha.
Old bridge.
Old bridge.
(Samantha) Come on, grandpa! Get your map.
Let's go.
Head out, guys.
Okay, let's go.
(Grunts) (Man) I don't see what we're doing here.
(Woman) We need to find a lamp.
(Woman) No, let's help each other out.
The California Girls were coming right behind us and were asking for our help, and we said "perfect.
" We needed their help, and they needed our help.
(Woman) Have we tried everything in here? (Kelsey) Having friends in this competition and working together as teams really becomes a benefit.
"The map that leads to the finish is locked somewhere inside the dwelling of the village craftsman.
" (Woman speaks indistinctly) (Man) It makes no sense.
Get me something with circles, uh, a shade with circles.
That's stars.
You have it right here? It doesn't circle anything, but when it circles right there, it's old bridge.
(Woman) Okay, okay, okay.
Old bridge.
Got it! Whoo! (Woman) - That's teamwork! (Woman) - All right! (Man) What's up with the teamwork.
Okay.
What really is so great about the challenges is it gives you a chance to shine in other areas and catch up with teams, and so I think that's where California plays the best, is our mental game.
Now we're just trying to regroup and make sure we can catch up with more teams.
(Woman) I guess we should be in the dark.
(Woman) Turn the light on.
The firemen and mom's army have now fallen to the back of the pack.
"The map icon that is totally encircled with light is where you must go to next.
" Um is that doing that? Did you try this one? That's not it.
No.
Well, what are we looking for here? I have no clue.
(Kevin) We got the right concept.
We just need different shades.
Once we e t into the challenge, things just went wrong.
Everybody's picking up different shadad, putting 'em down.
It's chaos.
(Kevin) How about this, Mike? You try this one? Is that right? (Rob) And we saw Team Kansas pass as well as Team California pass.
We need to pick up our pace and figure this out or we're going home.
(Man whispers) Oh, my God.
(Mike) Guys, just pay attention to these icons.
As I turn this, see which one lands on what.
This whole thing's in the light.
See that? We're in the challenge, and we're looking for the right lamp shade.
There's so many different lanterns.
We didn't know where to begin.
We saw Mom's Army, so we know we had to make a push.
We knew that we were in second to last place.
Oh, it's a snake.
I feel it might be Goat hill.
The goat is completely circled except for his the end (Woman) No, it's not completely circled.
Eight hours into today's expedition, Mom's Army and the New York Firemen struggle with the challenge.
Meanwhile, out in front, The Gypsies and the Country Boys are approaching the old bridge.
But they still need to find the finish line hidden from view.
There's the bridge.
Let's check it.
Right up there.
I see it.
Try this one.
Right here.
- No, no.
Hold on.
- Where? This is the circle.
Big circle right here.
Old bridge that's it.
Okay, this one.
- There's a big circle there.
- The old bridge? - Yeah.
Old bridge.
Let's go.
- Let's do it.
(Mike) Let's go.
You got the instructions, Mike? Yep.
It's so important to stay focused in the challenges, and we didn't do that today.
Right now I feel we have only one team behind us, and we need to, uh, catch up with these other teams.
(Man) We cannot come in last or we're going home.
(Abbie) - Are you okay, mom? (Ellie) - Yeah.
Easy on this, mom.
So we solved the lantern puzzle fairly quickly, and we're like, yes! We just made up a (Bleep) Of time on that thing.
I think if we can do this really fast, we can finish this race and maybe not be last.
(Woman) Let's walk.
(Man) What are you thinking, brother? (Man) Go up.
Yeah.
(Nick) - There's this trail here.
(Jason) - All right.
(Chad) What kind of trail y'all got us in? (John) It might be in here.
Hey.
It might be inside this thing.
So we're walking around, and, uh, you couldn't see anything.
You couldn't see the big flags you couldn't see the finish line, so we get to this huge wall, and we're looking at it.
(Eric) Hey, it's probably in here.
- Hey, hey! (Man) - There he is! Yeah! There's The Gypsies.
Come on across, guys.
Gypsies, congratulations.
You are the winners of the second stage - of the expedition.
(Men) - Whoo! (Man) - All right.
- Congratulations.
(Taylor) Thanks, brother.
Thanks.
Oh, Country Boys! Come on across.
All right.
(Sighs) Country Boys.
(Nick) What's up? You're in second place.
Congratulations.
That's pretty great.
Thank you.
Stage one was a really, really terrible day for us.
Uh, it was extremely hard and difficult, but today, we just knew if we worked as hard as we could, it would pay off, and it certainly did.
(Robert) We can go up and get a high point, Dani.
Okay.
We can if we can all get a really good high point, we can get a good look around here maybe.
Yeah, this isn't heavy or anything.
Moving away from the riverbed, The Cops trek uphill in hopes of spotting the old bridge.
Come on, Dani.
Catch up.
You gotta do it.
Come on.
(Jim) Come on, Dani.
We couldn't decide on which route to take to our final destination, and me and rob had different ideas about where we should be going.
(Jim) I'm thinking it's up here.
(Robert) - Jim? - What? There is a path.
You wanna go the low way or you're thinking go around the high? No? High.
Okay.
No.
I'm going this way.
Get over here, Dani.
Hurry up, Dani.
Come on.
(Jeff) - Oh, my God.
(Ike) - Ah! - What? What? What? - No Limits.
- Good job, man.
- Ah! You're in third place.
Congratulations.
Get some rest.
- All right.
- Thanks.
(Erik) Today was a really tough day for us.
I'm really proud of our effort today.
I think we did really well, but I think we have potential to even get better.
Football Players.
You're in fourth place.
- Congratulations.
- Thank you.
Fab 3, you're in fifth place.
Fab 3 proved to teams yet again that we're here to win this thing, and that we're here for a purpose.
This is our destiny.
Fishermen You are sixth.
Kansas, you are in seventh place.
Whoo! Grandpa's Warriors, you're in eighth place.
- Yay! - Congratulations.
California Girls, you're in ninth place.
(Woman) - Again! - Congratulations.
Finishing in ninth place was just this unbelievable feeling.
I'm so happy with my team 'cause I just feel like if we continue to keep up this momentum, we can possibly win this expedition.
Get some rest.
Rock 'n' roll.
Thank you.
After a long, exhausting day, most teams have found the hidden finish camp, but The Cops, New York Firemen, and Mom's Army are still lost on the course.
Mom's not gonna wanna cross that.
(Ellie) I can cross it.
I can There's just not a path.
Do you see a path, ru? It's frustrating.
I don't know what to do.
We probably take the high road.
Go ahead.
Go.
Like, we're walking in circles and circles and circles.
We didn't know how to progress forward.
All right.
It's fine.
You okay? Do you need water? I don't know.
I'm just bummed.
It's fine.
We're all bummed.
I'm really bummed.
Okay.
(Crying) I don't know where to go.
It's okay.
It's okay.
Do you want me to get water out? Do you want me to get water out? I don't know.
I don't know what time I don't know (Ellie) Sit down.
It's fine.
Um, okay.
Let me think.
(Abbie) At this point, we're just really hoping there's a team that has gotten lost.
(Ruthie) We'll just keep trying everything until we have exhausted all of our options.
Come on.
We gotta go this way now.
(Jim) You gotta stay with me.
Failing to find the bridge, The Cops return to the riverbed, wondering if they have gone too far downstream.
We're doing a lot of walking back and forth, and, uh, it's frustrating because we have no idea where we're going.
(Jim) Catch up.
This is my pace right now, kid.
Sorry.
(Dani) Mine, too.
I was losing my confidence and, uh, feeling pretty bad about myself and my team.
The Cops, who did well earlier in the day, are now off course.
They have been passed by six teams.
They are now one of three teams left on the course and are in danger of going home.
Whew.
We don't like that way.
Huh? In our way down the river, we had The Cops come back the other way.
And they were telling us, "you don't wanna go that way.
" We have a hunch it's the other way.
This is a game-changing decision right here, right now.
This could either make us or break us.
They left way before us, though.
(Rob) I think our jobs as new York firemen definitely help us.
The mental strength that it takes when you're going to a fire I mean, first you have to think about what's going on.
You can't just rush in there or else things will go wrong.
The Cops are walking upstream.
We're walking downstream.
Uh, this is a game-changer right here, you know, uh, we gotta make sure we're right.
This could either make us or break us.
The Cops are walking upstream.
We're walking downstream.
Uh, this is a game-changer right here, you know, uh, we gotta make sure we're right.
The course today was tough.
I mean, the terrain is miserable.
Feeling banged up.
Feeling like we really need to make a push here.
What do you think, Kev? They just came from that way, right? Stage two of the expedition has come down to the final three teams left on the course The Cops, New York Firemen, and Mom's Army and one of these teams is going home.
We gotta do a little bit of a trot.
(Mike) We ran into The Cops.
They went back the other way.
I decided let's not follow 'em.
Maybe we'll find it.
There's a bridge about, I don't know, about 20 yards out.
(Mike) - That's it.
(Abbie) - Any tracks or anything? (Ruthie) There's footprints.
We're thrilled that mom's here with us.
I wouldn't want anyone else here.
People might think that we are just two cute chicks and a cougar, but, uh, little do they know, we are a little bit more hard-core than what they think.
(Woman) Everybody hold on.
We're strong, we're a unit, and in the army, that's what it's all about.
And with us, that's what it's all about.
Yeah, we're pretty much, uh Lost.
As police officer, we go into a situation and figure out the problems.
We adapt.
Failure is not an option for us.
And every time we make a mistake or make a wrong turn or go the wrong way, you know, it just kills me.
It just eats me up.
We need to pick it up.
Heading up the river, we were able to see that there was a big wall, so we kinda figured that might be the right area.
We already had seen The Cops turn around, so we were a little bit worried.
Whoa.
Oh, hello.
There's the New York Firemen.
Come on across, guys.
Big day.
New York Firemen, you're in tenth place.
Your expedition continues.
All right.
(Chuckles) We're staying consistent.
Oh.
This is the most confused we've been so far.
(Dani) There's the bridge.
(Jim) We can only hope that somebody really screwed up and they're still back there.
We see the bridge.
We still don't see our final destination.
And I know it's a big camp, so, you know, where is it? - Is that the bridge right here? - That's a low bridge.
That's gotta be it.
- Do it.
- Is that it? In there? Let's go over.
Yep.
We were hoping that some of the teams maybe had gone past it and had to come back.
Maybe they had missed it.
We don't know.
You have no idea.
(Jim) What do you say, robs? To your right? (Robert) Huh? Yeah, I see, uh, stuff to the right.
The wooden door that I saw on the far side of that courtyard? Yeah? I bet that was the finish.
As we're climbing up the hill, sure enough, there are all the flags, and I'm hoping that somebody's behind us.
(Woman) Yeah, we're close.
(Robert) I think we're the last ones in.
Oh, gosh.
(Man) Who's there? Hello? (Dave) Hey, guys.
- How are ya? - Tired.
Real tired.
Whew.
Cops You're the 11th team.
- Your expedition does continue.
- Ah ha ha! You're a wise guy.
Oh! I was just so happy at that point.
I've never been so happy to be second to last place.
Sounds like you had a bad day today.
We yeah.
This walk just screwed us up.
This was the most confused we've been.
Come on.
(Woman) Hey! Hey, girls.
Come on in.
So we're walking through the door, and I'm like, please, don't say we're the last team.
There has to be another team behind us, and I'm thinking, you know, maybe.
Mom's Army.
Yeah.
You are the last team to cross the finish line.
Your expedition is over.
You're going home.
- Okay.
- Okay.
I feel I feel bad 'cause they're strong.
You know, it was definitely me, but, you know, but you kind of knew that, too, so You girls, uh, must be pretty proud of your mom.
Yeah, of course.
Hell, yeah.
Whose mom does this? Seriously.
Nobody I know.
Yeah.
But unfortunately, your expedition is over.
You are going home.
The helicopter's on its way to evacuate you.
I'm gonna assemble the rest of the teams to see you off.
Thank you.
- Bye.
(Man) - Bye, ladies.
It was a wonderful experience to do this expedition with my daughters.
I had no idea how strong they really are.
Whoo-hoo! My mom has impressed us.
We have literally pushed her to her limit, and I feel a little bad about that, but I think that she had an amazing experience.
(Woman) Wow.
Seeing Mom's Army fly away in that helicopter It makes me realize that that's not where we wanna be.
I don't wanna be home in a couple days.
I just got started, and we have a lot to prove.
And I think we can still show the world that we can do this.
