We see them everywhere, touched by fortune a few lucky people who share an uncommon bond.
They beat the odds when the odds were unbeatable.
They didn't show us yet.
Yeah, what a bummer.
But in this particular group, one person stands out.
Not a winner, perhaps, but certainly no loser by any means.
A hardworking mechanic who opted out of the pool several months ago, never imagining that the group would eventually go on to win.
Antonio Clemente the one left behind.
But as you'll see, he radiates a positivity and energy that is simply contagious.
What the hell? My father loved baseball.
I played baseball because of my father.
I remember going to Shea Stadium with my dad.
He'd been out of work for a year.
But he managed to scrape up enough money together because he wanted me to see the first great Latino major leaguer.
- Then, in the eighth inning That guy, he hits a home run so deep, so hard, that he almost knocked the head off Mr.
Met.
And my father, he's jumping up and down, and he's screaming, "mira palla! "That's what I'm talking about, Antonio! "That's him! That's Roberto Clemente! We are made of the same stuff that he is!" Number 21, the great Roberto Clemente.
Look what he accomplished.
Look what happened to him.
That's what I teach my kids.
Every day, I say to them, "don't worry.
There's something for us right around the corner.
" Words for us all to live by.
And considering the track records of lottery winners the perils and pitfalls they often face Well, the others may be considered the winners for the time being, but we'll check in with them a year from now.
