Now the mob is back and bigger than ever.
It all starts with one person and one huge secret they're dying to share.
I need you to know something, Terry.
I was just really afraid to tell you.
We're gonna harness the force of a flash mob A give people the power to deliver a message.
In the most surprising way possible.
Oh, my God! You're not gonna believe what you're about to see.
What? Is this real life right now? We're traveling across this great country of ours To find the best people with the biggest secret.
Who knows, it could be you.
Get ready for one huge secret.
I'm your father.
Get ready for a cast of thousands.
Get ready To be mobbed.
Tonight, on Mobbed: A father who abandoned his wife and daughter - Our marriage just fell apart.
- I just want to understand how he can just give up so easily.
Now begs to repair their broken relationship.
I need you to help me make amends with my daughter.
- 'Cause she's all I have.
- With a family's future in the balance Ion has a broken family, and he's gonna apologize.
The stakes for our mob have never been higher.
Gentlemen in the middle, looking left Fill in.
Fill in and move.
Can Mobbed reunite this fractured family? I'm just anxious to get Meagan and Cheryl - to accept my apology.
- We're running out of time.
Or does the pain run too deep? - Meagan? - Yeah? I can't make it.
And everything on the line.
- Okay.
- I'm telling you, we're losing her! Will you forgive me? Hello, my name is Ion Buliano.
About seven months ago, my wife and I separated.
In any separation, any divorce, the children are going to suffer the most.
I'm sorry to say I haven't been there for Meagan like a father should be there for his daughter.
I wasn't there with her for Father's Day.
I got a text from my wife that, uh, in the restaurant, while everybody else was there with their With their father.
My daughter wasn't.
But that's something I'll never get back.
Sorry.
I need you to help me.
I want to make amends with my daughter.
'Cause she's all I have.
- Well - Lots of emotion.
- Yeah.
- Okay.
Um So obviously, he hasn't been there for his daughter Ye.
There's been So he doesn't show up when things are important.
The scary thing is, it's not a slam-dunk.
We could create this huge mob, this whole musical number, and he could say, "I'm here for you.
I will be in the rest of your life," but she could very easily go, "I'm not interested.
Good-bye.
" But! That's why I think that we should go for it.
If we are able to get him a relationship with his daughter, that is the ultimate.
We have given him a new life.
We're like superheroes! I am the father of two daughters.
And to not have a smooth, loving relationship with your daughter is heartbreaking.
So I believe that we are about to mend a broken relationship.
And probably the most important relationship you have in life.
And that is with your child.
Cheryl was my high school sweetheart, and she was my first love, you know? First girlfriend I ever had.
She changed my life.
Cheryl and I had a wonderful marriage, and the blessing that came out of that was Meagan.
It's just the greatest thing in the world.
And we both loved Meagan.
We did everything for Meagan.
Our life was Meagan.
We wanted for Meagan to have a sibling.
And finally got pregnant.
But then, unfortunately, that pregnancy was more of a curse, because he lived for 14 minutes and died in my arms.
We weren't gonna have a son.
I got angry at the world when my son died.
It was very hard to talk.
I blamed myself, she blamed herself, and our marriage just fell apart.
So I left.
And it was one of the toughest things I've ever done.
But unfortunately, the one that suffered the most out of this is Meagan.
I missed Meagan's senior year.
Seeing her boyfriend pick her up to take her to prom.
For me not to be there for Meagan, it broke her heart.
I need to apologize to Meagan, to show her in a really big way, in a way she will never forget for the rest of her life, I'll always be there for her, no matter the difficulties.
It's time to be the father that she wants.
The Accomplice always comes to us on tape, so we see them.
It's the Mark we don't always see, so we have to come up with a way to get them on tape so we can learn more about them.
That's Meagan.
I have her coming to a fake meeting with what she believes is the producer of this father-daughter musical recital.
And hopefully, we'll find out more about her relationship with her father, the separation of her mother and father You know, there's many sides to every story.
- It's a Fox News crew.
- So you could set up the sticks there.
Yeah.
You get ready for an interview or whatever.
Today, we're bringing in Ion's daughter Meagan and his wife, Cheryl.
Thankfully, Cheryl knows that we're gonna be surprising Meagan, which is super-helpful for us, because it's an easy way to get her here and find out a little bit more about her relationship with her dad.
Ion told me what he was trying to do for Meagan, and so I tried to help out as much as I could by being secretive.
I don't think she has a clue at all about what's going on.
But it'll be amazing.
Something she'll never forget.
I'm Meagan.
I'm 18.
I'm a student, and I play the flute, piccolo and tuba.
Music has been a part of my life ever since I was little.
Pretty much.
My dad used to sing Elvis to me when I was little.
Do your mom and dad enjoy singing together? They separated in November.
I'm so sorry, sweetie.
How is that going? My dad and I never see each other.
I've been kind of getting more distant from him.
So I think this can actually, like, bring us back together and have a relationship.
I just don't understand how he can just give up so easily.
I want to ask him why he's doing this.
Why Did he change? What do you want from your dad, for you, though? I just want my daddy back that I grew up with.
Meagan is definitely hurting.
Her dad hasn't been around, so this is perfect, because it's such a great way for her to connect with her father.
I just want to ask him if there's any, like, any hope.
Our family? I don't know.
I'm going to meet our Accomplice.
I'm going to meet Ion.
And I'm gonna present to him our ideas.
There he is.
Ion, nice to meet you.
I'm Howie.
- How are you doing? - Good.
Have a seat.
- Thank you.
- Okay.
So here's the idea.
It's my surprise party analogy.
You get the person to believe that you're gonna do nothing, and nobody's there for them, and you've forgotten them, then bang, they walk in the door, and everybody they love, and everybody they care about is there.
Okay.
- So she shows up to this father-daughter thing, and then I am going to have you call her and say you can't show up.
- Um - Here's what's scary for me.
He's the father of this young lady he's trying to get back, And will he go along with the idea of us tricking his daughter into thinking, maybe he's not there? If it's part of what the big surprise is, - I think it'll be fine.
- Yeah! That's good.
So, okay.
So now, there's a huge dance number, and then it'll blow up into a giant mob, - Sure.
- And that's it! But I think, you being a father, you know that the relationship that you have with your wife is important for your daughter, and I'd like to see how we can restore that relationship, and that would make it even so much more special for me.
Oh.
What are you saying? I'm saying I'd like to include Cheryl in this.
You want to apologize to Cheryl? I'd like to apologize the Cheryl for not being the husband that-that she married.
So maybe I smell a second song.
- Do you guys have a song? - Well, she calls it our song, 'cause one time, she was sitting at a park bench there, and I was trying to find her, and started singing "Love Me Tender" to her.
- The Elvis song? - The Elvis song.
- Can you sing the song? - I can sing it.
We'll see what happens.
Ion has decided to take the first steps to mend his relationship with his wife.
To put the family back together.
And And! The man gave us his own song.
And he sings it.
This is like a win-win, win-win! Unless Cheryl says no.
We're going to bring a family together.
This is the Rolling Stone restaurant at Hollywood & Highland.
And this is the location we chose to start the mob, and it's gonna start with a recital.
You're with Rolling Stone, right? What is your name? - Roxie.
- Hi.
Are you familiar with Nappy-Tap? Are you familiar with Howie? No.
No.
I could Wikipedia and come back.
You could Wikipedia and come back? All right, thank you.
Thank you.
So, while she does that Oh, wow.
We're thinking this area should be a little performance area - for her to stand in.
- People that are watching it, one of them stands up and starts singing, and then another one stands up and starts singing It has to grow.
So they start dancing, and they're up, and then what would happen? We need to get her outside.
The big excitement is kind of waiting right beyond the doors.
So she's on the stage, she starts the talent show Wait, wait, wait, wait.
I see somebody.
- Oh.
Okay.
- Roxie's here.
- So? - You are amazing! - Okay.
Hello.
- Hello.
Nice to meet you.
You looked good, back in the '80s, with the hair.
- I looked good in the '80s! - Oh, my God! - You looked like another person.
- Thank you.
You're amazing, and I looked good in the '80s, what the hell.
So we move outside.
She walks out, and there's a big, red carpet right there.
- Right here? - People on the red carpet.
- There's paparazzi.
- Right.
These paparazzi are going to be our dancers.
Right.
And it'll look like it's a red carpet event.
We'll have somebody dressed up Hot chicks coming out of the limo.
We'll have a chauffeur that's a parkour guy.
That flips over the limo and lands in front of her - My grandmother does parkour.
- Your grandmother.
She has a senior citizen's parkour team.
Let's hit the stairs.
Here, look.
Fans.
Look at the fans.
How are ya? Hi.
- You think they know you? - Very nice to meet you.
- Very excited to meet me? - Oh, yes, yes.
- You excited to meet me? - Yeah.
- Do you know who I am? - They didn't know.
They don't know.
I am, in America, a "sex symbol.
" Why are they laughing? Why are they laughing? Right here is where they have their intimate meeting.
We'll bring them down So this is where he'll apologize to his daughter? The challenging thing about this mob is that we actually have two marks.
Ion wants to apologize both to Cheryl and to Meagan.
So once he's apologized to her, he's gonna do his Elvis song.
Yeah.
So in Mom's aid, we're gonna try and keep 1,000 mobsters quiet? So that they don't reveal to Cheryl that second half, this is actually for her.
So just thousands of people moving here We're thinking they do a waltz.
Which makes it more emotional, and more Fantastic.
Sold! Send him home in two da da da da.
And pick her up, two, three We have one day to put this all together with the dancers, we have 15 professionals here who are amazing, who are really gonna help us guide everybody through the entire performance with 1,000 people, we need professionals like this to get us through.
- One more time.
- Everybody? Hi, everybody.
- Hello, Howie! - These are our dancers.
This is Ion.
And Ion is the one that's actually gonna start the song off.
Once you start it, it kicks in, and show 'em what you got.
All right! Ion's gonna ask Cheryl to reconnect as a family.
He wants her back, and so we planned this big waltz with the dancers They almost behind you, and then you'll sing.
Say, do you accept my apology? This is great.
Nice! Let's rock.
- You okay? - Yep, fine.
I'm overwhelmed, because it's so romantic.
A deep feeling.
And that's what the song was for Cheryl and I.
So you gonna get busy and learn what you got to do - to win her back? - Whatever it takes.
- Okay.
Let's do it.
- My man! We're expecting a lot from Ion.
I mean, he's gotta work for this.
We don't only just give it.
You got to be part of it.
So could I have our fantastic b-boys come in the room? We're expecting a lot of dancing, a lot of singing, and a lot of excitement and I think he's willing to go all the way.
- Step, back, left foot - Nice! Right foot, there you go, open arms.
Good.
- Sorry.
- Don't worry.
- Show her the package.
- Oh, boy! Show her the package.
Show her the package.
Show her the package.
Dancing has just never been my thing.
- Whoo! - Never had the courage to do it.
But I know what the moment's about, so It's more than just learning some steps.
And I want Meagan and Cheryl to get the most out of this.
Oh, my darling, I love you And I always will I can see it in his eyes, and I can see it when he's learning the choreography, he's a little overwhelmed.
I have It's gonna be hard.
There's a lot of emotion there.
Sometimes your emotions can really play into a performance.
He might lose his train of thought.
In the dance world, we rate people zero to ten.
And one, two, three, four Freeze! I would say he's maybe a high one.
Zero! Next, on Mobbed: We got to keep it real.
The last thing I want her to say "Is this a joke?" If the actors mess up, then the whole thing is shot.
Are you ready to do mob? We are four hours away right now, and we're not even halfway done.
- Are you ready to go live? - The car is pulling in.
- There she is.
- Meagan.
I can't make it.
You want to get to it fast.
She's fading.
I think we're in trouble.
It's the day of the mob, and everything is crazy.
We have people rigging lights, we have people blocking cameras, dancers are rehearsing, wardrobe is getting everyone fitted There's just a lot going on.
- Are you messing up my hair back there? - I am.
Five, six, seven, eight Three, two Totally never gonna make that.
Okay, cool.
Because you're amazing Just the way you are Okay, one more time.
One more time.
Steve's now working with the actors.
- These are our actors.
- Hi, Ion.
Nice to meet you.
- Nice to meet you.
- Nelson.
Nelson, nice to meet you.
Ayumi's going to be playing the part of the choreographer.
Okay.
Meagan is going to be entering a Rolling Stone, where everyone is either an actor or a dancer.
She's gonna believe that she's participating in this amazing father and daughter annual talent dance-off.
We got to watch that we don't do too much comedy, because we've got to keep it real.
I've been speaking to the actors.
If they mess up, then the whole thing is shot if it's not believable that this recital is real, or if she gets too upset by the fact that her father may be late, or not show up at all, then it's gone, you know? She could walk out on us.
The last thing I want her to say is, "Is this a joke?" Come on, let me see it, let me see it! Nice! Now let him out and party! We have about 15 professional dancers, but then we have almost a thousand mob attendees.
The mob learned a short piece on YouTube, but when they come here, they have another minute of choreography to learn.
Are you ready to do mob? And one, two, three! We decided to see how it plays out.
We'll see how everything works.
- Or doesn't work.
- I'm excited to see her reaction.
I love it! I was floored when I showed up today.
Because they all really, truly practiced.
They really looked at the YouTube link, They really came prepared.
Not bad, mobsters, not bad.
We have six different key areas here at Hollywood and Highland, so we're blocking through what's gonna happen in each element.
And all the potential problems that we could run into.
We're never gonna make it in time.
I know.
We're on the second scene in 3:30.
We're in big trouble.
We're running out of time.
We haven't gotten to the mob, and that's what takes three, four hours.
We are four hours away right now from the actual mob, - and we're not even halfway done.
- Not even close.
It really may seem like I'm happy and positive, but inside I'm stressed out, and I am sweating.
All right.
Let's roll.
Let's roll, let's roll, let's roll, let's roll.
Meagan, this is all for you.
- That's good.
How cool is that? - Very cool.
Thank you.
- You ready for this? - I'm ready.
You know what you wanna say with your heart? I have it there, and it's gonna come out.
I'm just so excited to give my little girl what she deserves.
It's the best thing that I could ever give her.
You know, everything's at stake here for Ion.
Ion has a broken family and, you know, he's gonna apologize.
I'm not privy to how badly Meagan feels about it or how Cheryl feels about it.
So you don't know how they're gonna react.
You don't know.
Nobody knows.
- See what we're doing right now.
- No kidding.
This is amazing.
- Is this crazy? - It's crazy.
Okay.
Here we go.
Set.
And action, music.
- There it is.
- When I see your face Quick, quick.
Flip it around.
And make a move.
Make a move.
- There you go.
Make your move.
- That's awesome.
That's awesome.
- Yeah.
- That's awesome.
That's awesome.
That's awesome.
That's right.
- That's awesome.
- Good job.
Stay up, stay up, stay up.
Look at the screen.
Never a good sign.
I'm not technically versed.
I don't know a lot about technical, but that's never Never good.
There are a lot of people staring - at that piece of machinery.
- Keep going.
We are all incredibly behind.
There's gonna be parts of this mob that we haven't even rehearsed when we do it for real, and that worries me.
Go! One, two, three.
One, two, three.
One, two, three.
One gentleman in the middle looking lost, keep going.
Okay.
We got a big crowd of people over there.
Okay.
And wow.
Epic fail.
Okay.
Fill in.
Fill in and move.
Then keep moving.
You can't just look.
Yes, there's a big hole here.
It's an hour till the mark arrives, and I'm sitting here alone.
Everybody that is usually here is out there, solving problems.
And I'm doing what somebody who might be in charge should do.
I'm hiding in the tent.
Two minutes away.
Two minutes and holding.
We are now on lockdown.
- I'm good.
- We're good.
- Send the car in.
- Rolling.
We're ready.
The car is pulling in, and this thing is taking off.
Everyone in the house, be quiet.
We are about to start.
Okay.
Here we go.
- Roll.
- 100 yards from the door.
Just gonna go in.
- 25 yards.
- She's in the door.
- There she is.
See her? - Which one? On E.
Right there.
We're gonna mike her.
Meagan thinks that she's going to a concert that's gonna be filmed by a local news crew.
Little does she know it's gonna be the surprise of her life.
She's about to get mobbed.
What we're gonna do We're really excited.
We've got cameras.
This is gonna be a great night.
Thank you so much for coming.
Ashley, here's the cue.
Tell Ayumi and Meagan that Ion is running late.
So I just wanna let you guys know Ion is running late.
So Okay.
So we'll just start without him, and then you can catch him up to speed on what we're doing.
Okay, great.
And then, Cheryl, I'm gonna take you to be interviewed by one of our reporters.
- Are we ready? Yeah? - Yeah.
- Just hop up on stage.
- I'm gonna talk to you briefly about how the night is gonna work.
Because this is a father-daughter event, I would love it if the fathers would also participate in the event.
- There? On the stage? - On the stage.
It's gonna be very straightforward.
I know your dad's not here, but we're just gonna go ahead, and when he gets here, we'll make sure he gets caught up to speed.
- Okay? - Okay.
Okay, let's try it with Nelson.
Let's try it with Nelson in.
I'm just thinking for blocking, let's bring Nelson in.
- Okay.
And just stand - Just stand in for - It's Ion? - Yes.
Yeah.
Okay.
Just Yeah.
- Stand by.
- So, if you wouldn't mind - Remember, we'll tell you when.
- We'll tell you when.
Welcome to the first annual Father-Daughter Talent Nelson, I need you to start connecting a little bit more.
- Okay.
- Yeah, frame her face.
That's really nice.
Make the phone call.
The phone call.
- That's very nice.
And you as well.
- Feel the connection.
Whatever you feel might represent the father-daughter bond.
I'm sorry to interrupt.
Meagan's dad is on the phone.
Really quick.
So I'm just gonna pull her for a second, and I'll bring her right back.
Okay.
Real quick.
Great job, Meagan.
Thank you so much.
You doing okay? - Yes.
- We patched him through here.
Right there.
So he's on the Answer it? - Hello? - Meagan.
Yeah? I can't make it.
- That's awesome.
- I'm sorry.
I can't explain.
- Bye.
- Okay.
He hung up.
What's awesome? What did he say? He said he can't make it.
Take him.
Oh.
So we just got a phone call from Meagan's dad, And he's not gonna be able to make it.
Okay, so what time is he gonna be here? Not at all.
Here we go.
We're getting ready.
We're getting ready to go live.
How do you feel? I don't really wanna be up there if my dad isn't.
Okay.
I have an idea.
Give one sec, okay? We're gonna make this work.
May, can I speak to you for a sec? We're losing her.
I'm telling you, we're losing her.
We wanna get to it fast.
She's fading.
Come here, come here.
It's okay.
Come here.
It's gonna be okay.
Okay.
- Are we ready? - Ready? Everyone ready? I think we're in trouble.
I think we're in trouble.
Do you wanna talk? - No? - Okay.
- Are we ready? - Ready? Everyone ready? She's crying.
Not ready.
Why don't we just do something for rehearsal? I'm telling you, we're losing her.
We wanna get to it fast.
She's fading.
Something for quick blocking.
Put her on the stage.
Just come up on stage for one sec, okay? Nelson, up there.
Okay, so we're gonna take it again.
- Okay.
- Just this one time.
You're amazing.
I can't do this if it's not my dad.
