It's the only visit for the Timberwolves

- These are too hard.
[Sabonis] These here should do the trick.
[woman] Yes, we could use those.
Domas and I met in 2019.
We were introduced from friends.
My best friend from when I was a baby
texted me a year prior and said,
"I met your husband."
She told me he was a basketball player.
And I said, "No, thank you." [laughs]
The moment she walked in the restaurant,
it was like slow motion. [chuckles]
Everyone had finished eating and whatever,
and I showed up, like,
"Oh my God. Who's that guy?"
She goes, "That's your husband."
She was walking in, it was like
[imitates beating heart]
Okay, so I was a Laker Girl,
so I ended up around the NBA a lot.
It was definitely a stereotype
with basketball players
that I wasn't interested in.
I remember that that moment.
I was like, "Wow. Who's that?"
Like, I need to get to speak to her.
I'm a pretty shy guy.
I was like, "He's so cute."
And then done.
[laughs]
From there on out, I was trying
to hang out with her every single day.
[Sabonis] I know.
I feel like
she's pushed me to be a better player,
more than I would've even imagined myself.
I couldn't even reach
She's the one always telling me
I can do more, I can be better.
- If I don't play good, she's
- [both] "Why'd you disappear in the 3rd?"
I'm like, "I didn't disappear."
It's like she's always on me, you know?
As a basketball player, as a teammate,
as a husband, and as a father,

Tigey?
Can you even see? I'll pull this back.
I couldn't have a better husband,
a better father to my kids.
[Sabonis] Dunk it like this.
Yeah!
Dunk it!
[Sabonis chuckles]
I was born in Portland, Oregon, because
my dad played for the Trail Blazers.
Okay, so my first one son is Žygimantas.
Here is second one, Tautvydas.
This is my mom, my father,
my wife, Ingrida,
my girl, Aušrinė, and Domas, Domantas,
and me, Sabas.
[chuckles]
[Sabonis] Growing up, I don't remember
much of Portland 'cause I was super young,
but I remember definitely
going to the games and cheering on my dad.
I was definitely not aware
of my dad's greatness
until like maybe I was 10, 11 years old
when I started looking him up on YouTube.
[commentator] Sabonis makes something
out of that! How'd he do that?
He's an NBA rarity,
a rookie at the age of 31.
But for the Blazers,
Arvydas Sabonis was worth the wait.
They drafted him back in 1986,
but he has just now made his way
from Lithuania to the States.
I started late, 30 year,
when I come first time to NBA.
And of course, rookie, this 30-year-old.
Interesting.
[commentator] Goes to Sabonis,
wide pass to Trent.
That is why Sabonis
is such a unique commodity.
He might've been
top-five players of all time.
His dad was cold.
His dad was best in the world, hands down.
And guess who said it?
His opponents.
[commentator] To Sabonis, Shaq comes out
to play, and Sabonis goes around
[Garnett] I played with his father,
and we played at this thing
called the Rookie Game in San Antonio.
And it was the first player
I've ever seen in the locker room,
have his wife in the locker room,
smoking a cigarette,
in his drawers [exhales]talking shit.
[inhales, puffs]
"David Robinson, Patrick Ewing, yeah,
yeah, I better than all of them guys."
[exhales]
[inhales, puffs]
"David Robinson,
I best in the world. Sabonis"
- "He knows me. Ask him."
- [exhales]
He was just he was just ranting.
He was just ranting.
He was just ranting.
And he was like
And he pointed at his son.
He was like, "Yeah, my son."
"He will be privileged,
but he will be in the league one day."
[man] Arvydas was
a larger-than-life figure.
You know, Domantas grew up around that
and decided he's gonna have
his own kind of lane.
To have a father like Arvydas
and to try to live up
to his potential or hype,

I don't think anybody could fathom that.
And then to wanna follow that?

Great thing about the NBA season, folks,
82 games, 82 different stories.
Tonight, chapter three, as the Kings,
back home at the crib,
taking on the Los Angeles Lakers.
[Sabonis] What's up?

because I love to go
in an away gym, away fans,
and just and just kill.

In the NBA season,

we go on a ten-day road trip,
and we might have,
like, four or five games.
We have long, 14-day road trips,
and it's the same thing every morning.
Breakfast, treatment, practice,
and it just goes on.
[Sabonis] Goddamn!
[Tatum] A lot of downtime.
A lot of time in your room.
Watching film,
watching basketball, watching Netflix.
A lot of times, we'll go find a gym.
Then we'll go to dinner.
[laughing]
[Tatum] Then we'll go

the fans, they super happy.
And you play good, they stunned.

[man] How much you want? A trim?
Or you wanna bring it down a little?
Bro, you talking about
you gonna be rushing. You playing.
Okay, you right. You right.
You right. You right. You dead right.
[woman] What is that?

- [Nono] What?
- Real tears?
- My momma would come in.
I might get in trouble,
and my mom would be like,
"Comb his hair out."

- Gotta sit in the chair.
[Nono] Cut this shit. Cut his hair.
I'm like, "Bro, why you doing this shit?"
Just 'cause she telling you

[announcer] Good evening.
And welcome to State Farm Arena
for tonight's matchup featuring
the visiting Minnesota Timberwolves
and your Atlanta Hawks!
It's always special
to come back home and play in Atlanta.
It's where I grew up as a kid.
I was there

[man] Ant, hey, man, can I get a picture?
Come on. It's all about us.

[man] Let's go, y'all. Let's go.
[commentary] And tonight,

the Ant-Man, Anthony Edwards,
and a rising superstar in the NBA.
He's coming off
his first All-Star appearance.
It's the only visit for the Timberwolves
in Atlanta this season.
[woman] This year,
they only played the Hawks once,
and it kind of made me mad.
I want them to play 'em again.
I want him to come to Atlanta
and whoop they butt.
Even though, you know, we from there,

So it was terrible for our whole family.
My sister,
she knew we had to all be together.
We was going through some tough times,
and we really didn't have nowhere to stay.
So she pretty much just went and got a job
and forgot about college,
and kind of took care of us.
[cheering]
[Antoinette] I don't know what's going on
in his brain. All I can do is be there.
Like, make sure I'm there.
Whatever you need, I'm here.
The nation is waiting.
Where will you be attending
college basketball next season?
I'll be
at the University of Georgia. Here we go.
[cheering]
[Antoinette] When he picked Georgia,
I had just had Jace.
So that was, like,
the first baby to everybody.
So he like, "I gotta be here to see him."
"I'm going to Georgia.
Like, it's right up the street."
I'm like, "Cool, say less."
[triumphant music playing]
[Edwards] I didn't want her flying
to come watch me play.
She can just get in the car and drive.
So she pretty much just came
to whatever game she wanted to
or came and visited me whenever
I needed some company.
[Antoinette] He told me,
