Expedition Impossible (2011) s01e03 Episode Script
I Don't Know How to Ride This Thing!
Previously on Expedition Impossible Team Kansas struggle with Arabian stallions, Well, not these types of horses! I am 18.
I am supposed to be at school, going to my locker, going to math, and I'm riding horses in Morocco.
Teams flipped out on the Magoon river Holy! I think there is the potential that people could get hurt or die.
And Mom's Army fell behind.
Other side.
Why am I doing this? I don't really like this very much.
It scares me.
The Gypsies finished first again Yeah! And despite almost quitting in stage one, the Country Boys finished only moments behind.
You're in second place.
It definitely shows us no matter how far behind you are, you can always come to the front of the pack.
The Cops, New York Firemen, and Mom's Army raced desperately to a hidden finish line.
I don't know what to do.
This could either make us or break us.
Yeah, we're pretty much, uh, lost.
But in the end, it was Mom's Army who finished last.
Your expedition is over.
You're going home.
11 teams remain.
Who will be evacuated tonight? Welcome to stage three of your expedition.
This will be the most grueling stage yet.
It will be so difficult that it will take two days to complete.
Later today, I'll check you in to a mandatory overnight camp, but first, you'll be reunited with an old friend camels.
Oh.
But you're gonna have to earn them.
You'll travel to that oasis, where you'll collect feed.
You will carry that feed 1.
5 miles To the camel outpost.
You will use that feed to trade for your camels.
You guys clear? Gypsies, you're in first place.
Step to the line.
Because you finished first in stage two, you'll get a 5-minute head start.
Your expedition continues now.
The gypsy boys They don't look like athletes with the mustaches, but they're real agile.
I mean, good boys, but, uh, yeah, they can be beat.
No Limits, Football Players, and Country Boys, your expedition continues now.
In this competition, there's no slow.
We're just charging, you know? If the terrain allows us to run, we're running.
Some of these big, old boys They don't like running long distances.
All right, canvas wrap straight ahead.
Are all the all the piles the same size, guys? Team Kansas, Fab 3, Fishermen, please step to the line.
Two eliminations, two all-girls teams.
Team Kansas, what are you guys gonna do to avoid being the last? The California Girls and us We're gonna make sure that it's a boy team that goes home next.
The first two teams to get eliminated were both all-girl teams, which makes us, you know, somewhat worried.
Your expedition continues now.
But us being sisters is our biggest strength.
We will push each other probably harder than most people should push each other.
Someone It's a little bit uneven.
Here.
Put it on my back here.
Jackrabbit on your ass! Let's go.
Cops, New York Firemen, California Girls, and Grandpa's Warriors, you do not have to be first, but you can't be last.
We had a really bad day yesterday.
We were just one team from being eliminated, but that wasn't us.
Your expedition continues now.
We're a strong team.
We can pass a lot of these teams, and today we're gonna show that.
Is that all right? Yeah.
The camel outpost You got that? Come on, guys.
Football's right ahead of us.
One of you guys has gotta carry that.
Please.
We don't train much, you know, we're Fishermen.
We're not in our elements.
Give it to me.
We kinda wanna stay in the middle, and when it comes time to be assertive and push Right there.
I think there's something right there.
That'll be the time we'll push as hard as we can.
I'm gonna pick the camels because I'm the camel whisperer.
I didn't know I I d a gift with camels, but as it turns out, they like to move it for me, and so they just keep walking.
And if I say "walk," they go.
It's amazing.
You might be jinxing us.
Our strategy today is just to hang in there and not finish last.
This is a long expedition.
We're conserving our energy.
Salaam alaikum.
Yeah.
Ah.
Okay? Go ahead and grab it and pull it.
"Mount your camels and ride them to the South to your next checkpoint at the olive mill.
" Olive mill.
Teams must travel in the unforgiving desert with their camels for 3.
8 miles to the next checkpoint, the olive mill.
He said these are the best camels.
Oh.
Okay.
Whoo-hoo! All right, guys.
Let's go.
Are you going the right way? Whoo-hoo! Whoo! Ha ha! Whoa! How you doing? Good.
Yo! I can't stop this thing.
Whoa.
Oh, boy.
Football Players took off? Yeah.
The Football Players are gone and the Country Boys are still trying to get loaded up.
Which That one's a pisser, man.
Let's take these.
The first day's camels were pretty mild, but these camels were crazy.
Hey! Hold on.
Hold on.
Hold on.
Hold on, Erik.
Hold on.
It's a real fine line out here between trying to stay safe He's gonna hand you the rope in a second.
And trying to take chances when you have to, but not doing it all the time because, uh, those consequences could be really, really bad.
What do I do with this? This is crazy.
Ho! Stop.
I can't do it.
I can't.
Stop.
I can't do this, dude.
Stop.
Get down and walk it.
Okay, I'm gonna walk.
Hey.
Down.
Down.
Put him down.
Put him down.
Hey.
Down.
Down.
Down.
Oh.
Oh, look at that.
Ooh.
What's wrong with that camel? Come on.
Let's go.
Let's focus on us.
Dude, we should've picked those other camels.
They were more stable.
Whoa.
Grab this rope.
Get it for me.
Oh.
Oh.
Oh.
Oh.
Bend down.
We can't do that, you guys.
It's not gonna work.
Let's walk 'em.
Let's go.
All right, let's go.
Grab 'em.
Let's go.
Oh! Oh! We get to the camel outpost and all hell breaks loose.
Oh! Oh! The chaos there was definitely one of the craziest things we've seen so far.
I'm all right.
I'm all right.
I got it.
Even the camel wranglers themselves seemed to have zero control over the camels.
I mean, the camels seemed kinda nuts every single camel.
We're supposed to ride them, but that's not even possible.
It's a joke, obviously.
Kari, take this one.
Now.
Run.
Come on, babies.
Mike, I don't know how to ride this thing.
Nobody does.
You think we ever rode a camel before? What are you, crazy? This is great.
Stubborn and unpredictable camels cause the New York Firemen, Grandpa's Warriors, and California Girls to fall behind Okay! This is a problem.
While the Fab 3, Team Kansas, the Fishermen Dani, how you doing? You wanna shuffle? And The Cops gain ground.
Come on.
Come on.
That girl.
Good girl.
Camel ride.
All right, go for it.
Hey.
Let's go there, buddy.
Ha! We just got passed by The Cops.
None of them are riding their camels, so they're running them.
So we're just trying to keep a good distance with them, and hopefully, it'll they Maybe they'll wear themselves out by running.
We'll see.
This is the most uncomfortable camel, and I'm scared he's gonna touch me with his foaming mouth.
But he loves you.
Here, Mac.
Will you stop for just a second? Sorry.
Why do we have to stop for you to scoot back? You've got to be kidding me.
No, seriously.
Aah! Aah! Stop! Stop! Stop! No! Aah! Whoa.
Oh.
Oh.
Oh, God.
And this is the most uncomfortable camel.
Here, Mac.
Will you stop for just a second? Sorry.
Why we have to stop for you to scoot back? You've got to be kidding me.
No, seriously.
Aah! Aah! Stop! Stop! Stop! No! Aah! Oh.
You okay? Someone hold this so I can go see my sister.
Oh, God.
Are you okay, honey? She's all right.
Great.
You okay? Lay down, lay down, lay down.
Are you okay? Yeah.
All right.
She's o she's okay.
Can you hold this? Are you okay? This expedition is dangerous.
I tried to stop 'em as best as I could.
I realized that I'm not only putting myself but my sisters in a lot of danger.
They're running.
They're running away.
It doesn't feel real.
It feels like we have a stunt person doing all of these tricks for us, but in fact, it's us.
Are you okay? Yeah.
Yeah.
Are you sure? Yeah.
I-I don't know if I got stepped on or what.
You did.
You got stepped on.
I tried to suck it up because that's not my nature to not compete.
Okay.
Let's walk the sucker.
Go ahead.
Our stupid camel.
As Team Kansas falls to the back of the pack with the New York Firemen, California Girls, and Grandpa's Warriors at the back of the pack, the lead teams arrive at the olive mill.
"You must build a raft out of olive oil barrels.
" And head to the lakeshore, where they will build their rafts and battle the winds and cold water out to their next checkpoint at the island casbah.
To the camels.
Let's go.
Now how do we load these? You guys need any help? You ready? I'm ready to go if you guys are.
I'm sorry.
Oh, shoot! Okay, who's first? Oh.
Oh! My rope! My rope! "You must build a raft out of olive oil barrels and paddle out to the island casbah.
" Oh, my God.
When we got down to the river to build our raft, you know, we were neck and neck with the top two teams, the Country Boys and Gypsies.
I was a little shaky on how these barrels are gonna get us across this river.
No.
Come on.
Go get out oars and stuff.
We made our floatation device out of these olive barrels, which was real easy for us.
I think that kinda gave us a head start on some of the teams that was kinda close to us because of us all being kinda mechanically inclined.
All right, come on.
Get up here.
Okay? Get up on your knees.
Come on.
Turn around.
Turn around.
Put your feet toward the back.
I've been in construction and I know how to build things, and and we built our raft extremely quick, and we put it in the water, and we're halfway across the lake, uh, by the time anybody else puts in the water.
We're trying to catch the Country Boys, who are out front right now.
Yeah, they like this lake stuff.
They're from down South.
They like they've got lakes all over there.
The Mississippi river takes 'em everywhere.
So we'll get 'em.
Who we have over there? Is that the gyps? Mm-hmm.
All right.
Gotta get the gyps.
Wanna do a jog? What do you think, a pull? Yes.
Sure.
Okay.
"Park your camels now and carry the barrels over.
" So far, most of the challenges I think all of the challenges have been pretty visual.
You know, um, and, you know, obviously, that precludes Erik from really taking part in 'em.
Here.
Give me one.
Hang on just a second.
We need to read this real fast.
Okay.
Uh, but Erik knew that coming into it, that, you know, hey, there's certain things in life that, you know, Erik's not gonna do.
He's not gonna play football.
He's not gonna drive a car.
Uh, and he's not gonna do some of the the challenges here.
What, do you want me to carry some? No, no.
We're good.
Hey.
We could've gone down that.
It would've saved time.
Four.
Ah.
Push it.
Come on, guys.
That's it.
Man, we are so close.
Come on.
Paddle.
Paddle.
All right, good, even pace.
We get out there, we start paddling, and we realize that it doesn't move as fast as you you think it would move with three strong, strapping, young Young lads like ourselves.
The wind was blowing.
Um, the current was kinda taking us in a different way than we wanted to go, so we were fighting against a few different, uh, weather conditions.
That water is brutal.
Bring the barrels close to the water, Gus.
It's No Limits that we're going neck and neck with, and they've always beaten us, and Kansas Girls are always right there, so the past couple of stages we're with them.
It's, like, you don't wanna get beat by the girls.
We don't wanna get beat by a blind guy and two of his buddies, so it's, like, we can't go home to that.
'Cause when we go home, we're gonna get a lot of Put it the other way.
The other way? Yeah, this is it.
This expedition is putting us through the wringer.
I mean, for the girls, forget about it.
These these girls are small.
They're carrying those big backpacks.
They're building boats, they're getting on camels, they're trekking across the desert.
And they're teaming up against the guys.
They don't want another girl team out.
They wanna get the guys.
You just gotta push.
Yeah.
Wanna go the other way.
Uhh! This is when being big men help.
Whew.
Yeah.
Okay.
I don't have socks on, like you two.
It's okay.
Doesn't matter.
I wanna show my sis not even just my sisters.
I think my sisters know that I can do this.
I wanna show everybody that I can do this.
A lot of people, I think, saw me and were like, "she's 18.
She's not competition.
There's no way that this girl can handle something like this.
" One, two, three.
Oh, my gosh! Oh, my gosh! We are not men.
Wait.
Well, help.
I'm missing my prom for this.
Let's go.
Come on.
We're doing fine, guy.
Relax.
While teams at the back of the pack finish building their rafts and take to the water to fight the winds, the lead teams have conquered the difficult conditions and have arrived on the island.
Okay.
Okay, camel.
Watch it.
But Grandpa's Warriors find themselves in last place, still dealing with their camels.
We're not experienced with camels.
Let's go.
Come on.
I'll monitor the load.
With Grandpa's Warriors still in last place, Go, Grandpa's Warriors! Ah! The Country Boys jump into the lead, beating The Gypsies to the casbah checkpoint.
Let me see.
Oh, my God.
"Paddle approximately 1 mile to the northeast "to reach Shamil cove, located on the shore east of the pink tower.
" Teams, already exhausted from their difficult paddle, must paddle another mile to shore.
Teams will then leave their rafts behind and trek 1 mile to a mandatory overnight camp, where they will spend the night before continuing the expedition.
Going back across? Yeah.
The, uh, the raft thing was rough.
It was brutal, coming across with a crosswind like that.
Uh, now we gotta go jump on 'em again.
We're just gonna keep going till we get to the Shamil cove.
We're ahead of The Gypsies and the Football Players.
We're in first place.
We're trying to just keep the pace up and keep moving ahead of the other guys as fast as we can.
With the Country Boys leaving the island, in the lead, the middle-of-the-pack teams are floundering.
Oh.
Let's go.
Come on.
We're doing fine, guy.
Relax.
We're backwards.
Why don't we just turn around and start going this way now? Okay, I'm turning us around! There's no No, you don't have to.
Yes, I am.
Just turn your body around.
Okay.
Or not.
We have our makeshift raft full of olive oil containers, and the wind picks up.
And honestly, we are paddling with all of our might, and I felt like we went 2 centimeters.
Am I doing anything? It was pretty miserable.
We didn't even know if we were gonna make it to the first checkpoint.
Oh, yeah.
Bet this is better than the camel.
You know, I tell you what We had the camels starting from the outpost this morning.
It was a family A mother, two little ones.
Maybe it was a grandma and a mother and two little ones, but they just did not cooperate at all.
And we had a hard time even working with them.
But once we got here, we got our raft together.
The wind's picked up.
I think if we head straight across, we're gonna drift in.
We're gonna beat at least two teams.
We're down, but we're not out of it.
Let me steer it.
You guys just paddle.
Grandpa's Warriors set off five m mutes behind the California girls This is gonna turn us right into the wind.
But quickly begin to gain ground.
Oman) Hold on.
And pull.
People, hold on! And pull.
Ohh! That was incredibly hard.
It was a lot longer than it seems, but we tried to work together, and now we just gotta make sure that we're doing the right thing.
Today was definitely the hardest day we've had yet.
Typically, physically, I'm the team leader.
I'm definitely the most in shape, and I was dragging today because I got stepped on by a camel.
"Paddle hard to reach Shamali cove.
" Ohh! Ah! "Paddle approximately 1 mile.
" When I read that it was another mile, I knew that it was the worst news we could possibly have heard at that moment.
I can't paddle.
Our brains and our hearts weren't in it anymore.
Oh.
Pfft! You okay? And I felt like I was trying to, you know, be the cheerleader for our team, but yet, the truth is, I needed a cheerleader, too.
Whew.
We were five minutes behind that team out there, and we picked up a good five minutes on 'em right now.
So we went from last place to next to last.
You know, we've gone over this for two or three days, and I think people are getting to their stride.
My shoulders were getting tired the first two or three days from carrying the packs.
Now I no longer notice that.
My feet okay, a few blisters, but they're gone.
It's like running a race.
You start out, and you're a little slow until you get warmed up, and then it comes on.
The momentum picks up.
I was strong.
I loved it.
"Paddle hard to reach Shamil cove.
" I don't know how we let a 69 year old man pass us.
With paddling, maybe he paddles every day of his life.
I don't know.
It was rough, um, a little embarrassing.
"Paddle hard to reach Shamil cove.
Paddle approximately 1 mile to the northeast.
" That's it? Just paddle? Shamil cove.
Yeah.
"Good job.
Paddle another mile.
" We're like, no.
From here, the teams will hike across uneven terrain to the overnight camp, where they will spend the night before continuing stage three.
There you go.
Let's do it.
Come on.
In the lead The Gypsies and the Country Boys check in to camp together.
We were really surprised with the Country Boys.
We weren't sure how strong of competitors they were gonna be, d we're pretty impressed with 'em.
They're a lot smarter than than you might think from their name.
I think there's definitely gonna be a bit of a rivalry down the road.
We're having fun with it right now, but who knows? When more teams to be more competitive, it might turn serious.
Booyah! Made it.
The Football Players and No Limits are close behind.
I love These really dirty socks that I've been wearing for five days, over blistered, nasty feet that are just bleeding and gross.
At least our water shoes match our color Our team color.
I have so many open blisters on the bottom of my feet, and they're so swollen, and I had a rock stuck in the bottom of my shoes, but I don't really care about any of those things anymore.
Initially, I was afraid to give up material things.
.
It's kind of interesting to see how when you strip away all that stuff, I am just as capable as my ancestors were, to live on nothing and find a way to survive.
And I think going back into my real life Nice work.
That will only only benefit me, which is kind of a cool feeling.
And pull.
And pull.
Back on the water, Team Kansas and California Girls are exhausted, as Grandpa's Warriors get ready to pass them.
Paddling the raft was difficult going to casbah island, because we were going into the wind.
Now the wind was to our back.
When we're paddling across, going to the other end of the lake, you could actually put your raft sideways with the wind and even though you're paddling, you're getting the drift of the wind, and at this point in time, not only we're ahead of the, uh, California Girls, but now we passed the red team, the Kansas girls.
That feels good.
The 69 year old grandpa We actually found out, if you add up me and my two sisters' age it is 69, and it's incredible.
He started behind us on the rafts today, and they ended up a little bit ahead of us.
It's like, wow.
How does he do that? You know, it's from me to him, he's probably one of I guess the oldest person here, and I'm the youngest, and I think we're both trying to prove something.
You could not predict the things that are on this expedition.
No.
It is out of control.
After parking the makeshift rafts, we saw the red team right ahead, and, um, we decided, you know, it's one more mile.
Why pass them when we're not getting eliminated? You know, let's just have the two last girl teams unite and become a force for tomorrow.
Team Kansas, California Girls, you're the last to check in to the overnight camp.
I know you're exhausted, but don't forget, this isn't the end.
Tomorrow, the stage continues.
I let us down.
You okay? Yeah, I'm fine.
What's wrong? I'm just Oh, you're sore? Her heels are bleeding.
Oh.
Oh.
Okay, we're gonna let you get into camp, and we're gonna have someone look at that, okay? All right, guys, go get some rest.
Here.
Take them off now.
Take 'em off, Mac.
Mac, come here.
Come on.
Hold on.
I know.
We're gonna get to our thing, okay? You take off your shoes, and I'll carry you, okay? Here.
You get you take those.
Oh, my feet hurt so bad.
I know.
I know.
I just couldn't handle it anymore.
I know.
You're fine.
You don't have to.
And you're gonna get on my back, okay? Wait.
And we'll be like we're at 5 years old again.
Come on.
Come on.
Ready? Okay? We're gonna find camp somewhere.
Right there.
There's a big tent right there.
Right there.
We just arrived at camp, and mackenzie kind of broke down, and it was because she had her water shoes on, but with no socks.
And it ended up rubbing her heels dry, and they're all bleeding, and it's pretty bad.
Does it look bad? Yeah, that's not good.
I was a little scared that if I stopped to change my shoes and put my socks on and everything, that the cali girls would pass us and we wouldn't have crossed together, and I didn't want to let my sisters down like that.
It was a rough day.
Lindsey got bucked off the camel, and she was hurting, and I'm still, like, hurting, but I'm just ready to go to sleep, and even though today was a nightmare, I would never give it up.
I would still go back and do it and hurt myself again.
I want to continue.
It was too windy last night.
I thought the whole tent was gonna come down on top of us.
A crazy wind banging the, uh, the tarps back and forth.
Really tough to sleep.
Good morning, everybody.
I think it's probably an obvious point to make, but weather will be a factor today.
Just a reminder Today is an elimination day.
The last team to cross the finish line will be eliminated.
Their expedition will be over.
You've each been given a scroll.
You'll need to head east for 3.
5 miles through this brutal wind and beating sand, along the Dades river to the castle beach checkpoint, where the ancient pillars stand.
Gypsies, Country Boys, you checked in first last night.
Your expedition continues Now.
The Country Boys are pretty confident that we can take first place today.
If we stay focused and we don't make any stupid choices and and make errors, I know we have the strength to win this.
No Limits, Football Players, your expedition continues now.
I knew it was gonna be a hard day 'cause we were gonna be walking straight into the wind, and I was thinking, you know, there's a lot of teams that that aren't gonna realize how bad that's gonna hurt.
Fishermen, cops, b 3, your expedition continues now.
Mackenzie, the last time I saw you, you were in a lot of pain.
How you feeling today? I'm hurting today, but I'm a trooper.
I'm I don't wanna go home, so I'm gonna push through it.
All right.
Firemen, Grandpa's Warriors, Team Kansas, and California Girls, your expedition continues now.
We don't want another all-girls team to go home.
The guys obviously have physical strength over us, but if we can play it smart, we can beat them.
Whoo! Yeah! Whoo! I can't see really where we're going, so I gotta rely on the G.
P.
S.
Picked a spot in the distance and followed it, but it's too cloudy with the sand.
Ominous-looking cloud of dust coming at us.
I've never seen anything like that before in my life.
It was it was a head wind.
It was right in our face.
It was choking it was so thick.
Open up.
"The location of your next checkpoint is locked "inside a box at the base of an ancient timber pole.
The combination is written in code on your scroll.
" There's a certain design on the scroll.
It's right there.
To get their next set of instructions, competitors must figure out that they need to wrap their scroll around a pillar, which will reveal a secret code to a combination lock.
There is only only one correct way to wrap the scroll, and only one correct code.
What are we looking for? We're looking for the combination.
Hey, guys, use the scroll with the ancient timber pole.
Pull it up and then we'll clip the other side.
Good luck with this one, boys.
Hold it tight, Chad.
We can't see it.
I was trying to hold it tight.
All right.
I don't know.
You see it? J.
, wrap it around the pole.
Wrap it around the pole.
They're wrapping it around.
Look to your right.
All right, go.
Go, go, go.
This way? Yeah.
Good.
So what he's doing right now is, there's all these designs and they match up if he lines it up just right, visually as it comes down.
7 Go.
0 8 Really? No.
3, 5.
8-9-3-5.
Negative.
Looks like we have to wrap it around the pole.
With the lead teams confused by the challenge, all the other teams have caught up, making it anyone's game.
Let's look at how many things it is.
It's 4.
It's a 4-number.
It's all twisted.
Come back this way, Gus.
Gus, come over here.
Open Come here.
Like this.
If we do well with this, guys, this could be our chance to catch up, so we gotta hurry.
0-0-1? No.
No, no, no, no, no.
I got it.
That's a 5.
What is it? 3-6-3.
There.
You got it.
"Make haste to the footbridge where the lim awaits.
Your final checkpoint.
" Let's go.
From here, the teams will run 1 mile to their next checkpoint at the footbridge.
I told ya I'd figure that son of a bitch out.
See if you can read those to me again.
5 3 5-3-6-3.
Dang.
What the hell? Come on.
"Trek due South upriver "a mile until you reach a suspended footbridge checkpoint.
" Footbridge.
"Suspended footbridge checkpoint.
" Oh, boy.
Let's go.
All right, let's go.
3-6-9-5 again? Yeah.
No.
3-6-5.
I can clearly see it.
All right, think a different way.
.
The challenges are the equalizer.
It could be a huge time sink or you could just nail it.
9-3-6-5.
Nope.
If I'm wrong What'd you start it with? Hold on.
What are we messing up? I don't know.
We have to make up ground and make up time.
It's elimination day, and we're not ready to go home.
Oh, we got it.
We got it.
What was the number? Hurry up.
Come on, Dani.
It's we need directions.
Checkpoint.
Footbridge.
Yep.
Footbridge.
She got it.
She got it.
Attagirl.
Don't forget anything.
Don't forget anything.
Frickin' go! Frickin' go! Frickin' go! Frickin' run! Oh, my goodness! Aw, jeez.
Damn, damn, damn.
Enough.
Let's concentrate on this, all right? When we saw everybody leaving and we just couldn't figure it out, we were wicked bummed out because Fishermen do not want to lose to a group of women.
Aw, damn.
It doesn't come to me.
We were in the desert by ourselves, it seemed like.
We were like, we're never gonna get this challenge.
And it made me feel terrible.
This is screwing us up now, buddy.
I don't understand.
I don't understand.
I don't either.
Yeah, it's definitely wrapped right.
Joe, try 0-0-9-1.
Nope.
I do see numbers.
Just ain't right like that.
Pissing me off now.
Let's do a little rewrapping.
This okay? Tighter.
Same way.
"The finish is located deep inside the great black canyon.
"To get there, take the longer easy route along the river or the short harder route over the Mountain.
" The long route will take them 4.
1 miles up the Dades river.
The short route will take them 3.
3 miles over mountainous terrain to a canyon entrance where the routes converge.
Teams' endurance will be tested as they travel up the river canyon through rough and freezing water to the finish line.
I say we just run the riverbed.
We go the river.
We go the river.
Yeah.
Yeah.
No, the easy way, yeah.
River run it.
Let's do it.
Yeah.
Country Boys and No Limits were quite a ways ahead of us, so we knew that we had some ground to make up.
No Limits and Country Boys are ahead of us.
You know, we're competitive guys and we can't help but push ourselves to the front.
It's just the way that we are.
2 is up there.
It's upside-down.
Everything's upside-down.
Don't know.
That doesn't look right either.
That looks worse.
I think it was better the other way.
The long way or the short way? I'm trying to take the river.
Long, easier route along the river.
Then let's go.
The river.
River? Yeah.
Okay.
I stepped on some loose rocks and hyper-extended my knee.
Although if my leg was 100%, we would've chose the Mountain because we're definitely, like, human Billy goats, if I do say do.
"Head through way point flags.
" We should follow the So we'll have a buddy.
I think so, too.
Let's take the harder one.
Let's take the Mountain.
We're better at mountains.
Okay.
Going the Mountain way, I thought that we could gain some ground and surpass the people that choose the long rough.
Are we sure we wanna go this way? I felt like that was the best bet for us, even with Mackenzie's heels.
Along the river or the short, higher route over the Mountain? The Mountain.
Let's do it.
You going the mountains? No.
No.
Then let's do river.
Okay, let's go.
All right.
Team Kansas and The Cops are the only two teams to take the Mountain route.
On the Mountain, they won't be able to see the teams on the river, making it impossible to know which place they're in.
We gotta walk as fast as we can.
And I know that it hurts and I know we're tired.
Come on, Dani.
All right.
Here.
Go.
Now pass.
My feet are killing me right now! The Cops quickly leave Kansas behind.
Come on, this is a nice, easy run.
See, that's a 5 Yeah.
And this is a 3.
This is a 6.
And that's a 3.
That's where I'm looking at.
You know what I mean? 5-3-6-3.
There is it.
Just started.
We're Fishermen.
We're not locksmith.
We'll make it up.
Ready? Let's go, guys.
The Fishermen leave the challenge over 20 minutes behind.
Go! They will need to push themselves to make up ground.
We're still gonna try our hardest and not give up.
That's all we can do, you know.
At least we can go down fighting as the fighting Fishermen.
We gotta make up some time, all right? At the front of the pack Come on, Chad! Let's go! The race for first place is on.
They're fast, dude.
Yeah.
Come on, Chad.
They're gaining on us.
In the middle, teams struggle against the elements to keep up their pace.
Come on, come on, come on.
Ah.
Aah! Aah! At the back of the pack My ankles hurt.
You're being a trooper, and I can't imagine being you, okay? Team Kansas battles the mountainous terrain alone.
I'm sorry.
I'm proud of you and I love you.
I love you, too.
I'm so cold.
And on the river route, Grandpa's Warriors are slowing down.
Hang tough, Sam.
Think warm thoughts.
Come on, guys! Yeah! There it is! Gypsies, nice work.
All right! Way to go, guys.
We're cold, Dave.
We're cold.
Oh, yeah.
Coming through that last leg with the wind and the water, every step was a real challenge.
I'd never been so happy to see Dave.
Gypsies, you are the winners of stage three of the expedition.
Yeah! Yeah, boys! Congratulations.
Camp is that way.
Go get some rest.
Get dry.
Thanks, man.
There was nothing fun about that.
It was sort of a technical trail to navigate, especially being blind.
The weird thing is, I can do all that and I still look good.
But Erik just gets it done.
He's exerting himself exponentially more than anyone else.
And he's willing to do that, then I'm willing to take him as hard as he'll go.
Country Boys, you are in third place.
I wanna win.
My team wants to win.
Enough is enough with The Gypsies.
We've just gotta keep pushing forward.
Football Players, you're in fourth place.
Fab 3, you're in fifth place.
New York Firemen, you're in sixth place.
Whew! California Girls, you're in seventh place.
Nice! Finally! Yes! Cops, you're in eighth place.
Eighth place.
That's not too bad.
We'll take it today.
Less than 2 miles.
We're doing good.
We're making about 2 miles an hour.
Is it? It looks it.
All right, guys.
Guess what? The Fishermen are right behind us.
They're moving slow.
We'll catch 'em within the mile.
Only three teams remain out on the course Grandpa's Warriors, Fishermen, and Team Kansas.
One of the teams will be eliminated.
My ankles hurt.
These rocks are not good on them at all.
On the longer river route, the Fishermen gained ground on Grandpa's Warriors Is it? It looks it.
All right, guys.
Guess what? The Fishermen are right behind us.
They're moving slow.
We'll catch 'em within the mile.
Meanwhile, Team Kansas hikes alone on the shorter, steeper route.
We don't really know where all the teams are right now, so we're not sure if we're ahead or behind or We're just trying to finish, see what happens.
You good, Sam? Yeah.
Come on, Sam.
Good job, boys.
We got 'em.
They're gonna pass us.
It is what it is.
You guys all right? Yeah, go ahead, guys.
Go.
All right.
Sam, don't give up.
Come on.
When nino said, "Sam, don't quit.
There's still a chance," you know, it gave me encouragement that maybe there is.
Maybe there's a small chance that somebody's behind me.
Do you wanna go in the water, Mac? I think we should.
We're gonna have to get to the other side soon.
Now that Kansas has descended from the Mountain route and entered the river canyon's frigid water, they still don't know whether any teams are behind them.
This wind is so bad that I feel like we'd only take one step forward.
Two steps back.
Oh, my gosh! My feet hurt from all the blisters, cuts, and scrapes, and I was just ready to be done.
But I wanna continue and I don't want to let my sisters down.
Oh, my God! It's freezing! Come on, Sam.
I can only hope that somebody got hung up in the mountains.
Sam didn't have trouble initially, but the further along we got, I think she began to get a little bit colder and colder.
It was demoralizing for Sam.
A positive attitude in this game is everything.
And I just would hope Sam would think that same, too, that you just don't quit.
Come on, Sam.
I'm so cold.
My limbs are, like, cramping up.
I can't I can't do this.
Hold on.
I can't.
We can't stop.
I know.
I know, Kelsey.
Come on.
I know.
Come on.
Please, come on.
We have absolutely no idea where we stand, which is what scares us.
But we're going at the pace that we can, doing the best we can.
Come on, guys! I hope it isn't our time to go.
We have a lot to prove.
We have a lot to prove to other teams.
We have a lot to prove to ourselves and to our town and our community.
We want to be able to show people that we are strong girls.
Team Kansas You're in ninth place.
Oh, my gosh! Aah! Oh! Whoo! We thought we were last.
For sure.
We thought we were dead last! Oh, my God.
I am so, so proud of my sisters because they have more than stepped up.
And I'm just so proud that when I really think about it, it makes me want to cry.
Fishermen, you're in tenth place.
Congratulations.
Did you guys know how far behind you were? Yeah.
Yeah, we knew how far.
We knew how far.
We k kw how far.
We we weren't giving up.
No way.
It wasn't in our In our minds to give up.
When we, uh, crossed that finish line Ah, that was a good feeling.
That was like God looking down on us and saying, you know, you guys worked hard.
You deserve it.
Continue on.
Come on, guys! Nice work! Finish strong.
Come on across.
Grandpa's Warriors You're the last team to cross the finish line.
I think you should be very proud of yourselves.
What you've done is not easy.
But your expedition is over and you're going home.
There's sorrow in my heart because I wanted to continue.
Oh, my God! Oh, yes.
We entered this expedition as a family.
We came to Morocco A golden opportunity to see the world, and we'll have memories that we'll cherish so much.
I just love life.
I live it to the fullest.
And, boy, this helped fulfill the remaining years.
Sam.
All right, guys.
Today was sand, but tomorrow will be snow.
Head back to camp, get out of this dust.
Your expedition continues.
When you see someone go on the chopper, it's sad, but you always are thinking it could be you.
But we're not ready to go for that ride.
