Small Town Setup (2025) s01e03 Episode Script
Second Chance at Love
[gentle music]
[upbeat music]
We're here in Milledgeville.
Hi, everybody.
What if your
parents gathered up
all of your friends
and your neighbors
to set you up on three blind
dates in your hometown?
Will is about to find out.
[theme music] Baby,
let's do it again
I'm Ashley Williams, and
this is Small Town Setup.
Will's parents,
Philip and Shaina,
were married for a while,
and then they divorced.
They both got remarried, and
now, all four are best friends.
Hi, five.
Will's parents
believe that he's
ready for a second chance at
love after a previous marriage.
Will is 37, a corporate
recruiter by day
and a musician by night.
So fancy.
We haven't had a
and musician before.ght.
He moved away to
Tampa, Florida,
but he's from Milledgeville.
So what if his love has
been here this whole time?
We're about to dive into
a romantic adventure
filled with love, heart, and a
hefty dose of small-town magic.
[cheering]
filled with love, heart, and a
hefty(SINGING) Start againagic.
While most have two parents
conducting their love life,
Will's got a whole quartet.
Get it?
Because he's a musician.
[cymbal clang]
Did you guys get that?
[lighthearted music]
Will reminds me of
me-- very independent.
I know that if he met the right
person, that he would be ready.
[doorbell]
Hell!
KEN: Hey.
Hi, everybody.
Hello I brought
you some flowers.
WANDA: Oh, you are so kind.
KEN: Oh how sweet.
Thank you.
Are you Wanda?
- I am Wanda.
- Hi.
It's so nice to meet you.
- And I'm Shaina.
Hi, Shaina.
Hi.
Are you Phillip?
- I'm Phillip.
- I'm Ashley.
PHILLIP: Good to see you.
It's so nice to meet you.
You too.
I'm Phillip, Will's dad.
Thank you so
much for letting us
come in and invade your home.
PHILLIP: Absolutely.
cAnd I'm Shaina, Will's mom
Come on in to your own house.
Phillip and I
cAnd Ihave been divorcedmom
for a little over 20 years,
and we have both remarried.
We're all looking for
love for our son, Will.
ASHLEY WILLIAMS: First of all,
whose house are we in right
now?
WANDA: Ours.
We're in ours.
ASHLEY WILLIAMS: OK, so this
is Wanda and Phillip's house.
Right.
And you two live
just down the street?
We do.
SHAINA AND KEN: We live a
little over a mile away.
So you all are very close?
We are.
I would say so.
I think we're just blessed.
Aren't we, dear?
No doubt.
ISHAINA: Well, I think the.
relationship is so strong,
it transcends the family.
I've laughed and told
Wanda a million times
that if I hadn't met
her through Phillip
and she moved next door to
me, we'd be best friends.
And the more people
who love your kids,
the better your kids are.
Exactly.
Absolutely.
SHAINA: Well, Will is the
youngest of our four children.
PHILLIP: He was just
absolutely a neat character
to watch grow up.
SHAINA: Will did
a lot of dating
until he met his future wife.
WANDA: Unfortunately,
it did not end well.
What was it like when-- when
the marriage didn't work out?
It's heartbreaking.
WhatI mean, you hate to when
thesee your child unhappy.ut?
PHILLIP: I think it
took him a long time
to ever feel in his
heart that he wanted
to go through that again.
SHAINA: And that kind of
brought us to where we are now.
I think Will really doesn't
want to make a mistake.
He doesn't want to
get divorced again.
Do you think he's
ready to jump back in?
I think Will definitely
wants a companion.
He wants to find the kind
of thing that we found.
And why do you think she's
here as opposed to in Tampa?
In Tampa, it's
going to take you
longer to find out who
they really are than it
is in a small community.
If the four of you could,
you know, throw out some ideas
about what Will might be
looking for in a relationship
or in a partner.
I think someone that
will just let Will be Will,
maybe not try to
change him, you know?
I love that.
I think Will would love to
have someone who enjoys music
with him and enjoys going
to concerts and lives
a fairly healthy lifestyle.
And they're going to
have to have financial--
PHILLIP: Stability.
That's fair.
He's independent,
and he wants
to have a person that has those
same core values that he has.
You know, once
that lust is gone,
you better have something
there besides that.
So--
All right.
So we're looking
for three dates.
We're going to
see if your town,
if your community can
come up with some ideas.
We have invited people who
have been a part of Will's life
just about since birth
comto tell about Willas.
and hopefully have
acquaintances that they
can introduce him to.
Should we head over?
SHAINA: OK.
PHILLIP: Let's go.
WANDA: Absolutely.
Oh, my.
(SINGING) Stop
till we hit the end
We fall down, we begin again
KEN: Oh yeah.
Here we go.
I got the cool thing.
Here we are.
ASHLEY WILLIAMS: OK.
Thank you.
KEN: Keep it in the zone.
ASHLEY WILLIAMS: Come
on in, everybody.
Take a seat.
Make yourselves comfortable.
Are you part of the family?
Yes.
ASHLEY WILLIAMS: Are
these the siblings?
SHAINA: Yes.
ASHLEY WILLIAMS: Oh, my gosh.
- Sit up front.
- Oh, hi.
Nice to meet you.
How's it going?
Thanks for being here.
This kind of experience is
what makes you realize what
a great town Milledgeville is.
PHILLIP: So many folks have
known our children since birth.
And they've watched them grow
up and go off and come back.
It just makes you realize
how wonderful a tight-knit
community can really be.
Hello, Milledgeville.
[applause]
We are so excited
that you're here.
Will has moved away
to Tampa, and we're
wondering if it's
possible for Will
to find love in Milledgeville.
Maybe love has been waiting
here for him all along.
When he moved to
Tampa, it really pulled
Maybe love has been waiting
a sad string on my heart.
It really did.
And with him being gone
that far and that far away,
I miss him.
I really do.
Shaina, can you
talk about why
you think that you
all might have luck
finding him love this week?
Because of this.
When I look at the people in
this room that we've asked
to be here, dear friends and
people who watched him grow up,
I would love for Will to find
a partner with the same values
that he was raised with.
And those are small
town, Southern values.
Is Mrs. Smart here?
[laughter]
ASHLEY WILLIAMS: OK,
Iso this is-- this?
is Will's first grade teacher?
SHAINA: Yeah.
ASHLEY WILLIAMS: Can you
just tell me, what was
Will like when he was a kid?
We had a special connection.
Shaina, his mom, was
my student teacher.
Then I taught Emily.
Then I had Klein.
Oh my gosh.
MRS. SMART: And then
finally, I had Will.
He was smart.
He was determined.
And he was as cute
as he could be.
All right.
Thank you so much for all you
did for all those students.
All right, so, Shaina,
come on over here.
Talk to us about what
you're looking for in
a potential partner for Will.
TI think they've gott
to be physically active.
They've got to be
financially secure.
They've got to love his dog
and watching Will perform,
and just, they've
got to love music.
OK.
Why is now the right time
for him to find love?
Because I'm getting older.
[laughter]
All right, let's get
you back up there.
I think it's time for the
big question at hand here.
Who could be a good
match for Will?
Come on up.
Wait, aren't you a-- a cousin?
I'm a cousin.
So I have a friend
named Mattie.
And she's 28, and she is a
second grade school teacher.
Mrs. Smart is so
excited right now.
[laughter]
OK.
Go on.
She loves dogs
because she has two.
And she really loves to
travel the tropical islands.
And she loves it when
Will's mother comes too.
All right.
Do we have any other ideas?
Oh, this is another cousin.
JOSH: Yeah.
ASHLEY WILLIAMS:
Get on up here.
I would like to
nominate my friend Kay.
Kay is 29, super
big into fitness.
And she is super, super big
into live music as well.
She is very kind, very sweet.
She will let Will be Will.
ASHLEY WILLIAMS:
Thank you, Josh.
That's my nephew.
OK.
Oh, right over here.
OK.
Come on up.
PEGGY I am nominating
my friend, Bethany.
Bethany?
Yes.
She's a wholesome girl.
She's Southern.
She loves to travel.
She loves to cook, might I add.
She's graduating from
Sgraphic designing
ASHLEY WILLIAMS: How does
she feel about live music?
She loves live music.
ASHLEY WILLIAMS:
Thank you so much.
All right, have a seat.
Oh, come on up.
Hi.
Say your name.
My name is Claudia, and I'm
nominating my friend Anna.
And I don't want to get
everybody too excited,
but I think she's got it all.
She owns her own home,
and she works in finance,
but she's also got an art
degree and is an artist.
I can tell you
for sure that she
loves live music and travel.
This is the one.
Wow.
And how about the dog?
Loves dogs.
PHILLIP: OK.
ASHLEY WILLIAMS:
Very well done.
All right.
Anybody else?
OK.
Who are you nominating?
I'm nominating Amber.
When I met her, she
was a paramedic.
And so she put herself
through nursing school,
and now she's a nurse manager.
She runs marathons with
the police department
and the fire department.
- Whoa.
So she's got good friends.
And she owns her own home.
How old is she?
Not married.
I wouldn't have nominated her.
That's right.
[applause]
ASHLEY WILLIAMS: Well done.
Thank you all so
much, Milledgeville.
So the next time I see you,
we're all going to watch
Will's dates live together.
So get ready.
It's going to be so much fun.
So geYay.ady.
[applause]
[upbeat music]
SHAINA: Will always
likes to be in control.
He doesn't like surprises.
WILL: Charley, come here.
[whistles]
So the surprise
WILL:element, I thinkere.
is going to be
really hilarious.
Yeah, maybe he'll think
it's an intervention.
WANDA: It is, sort of.
- It kind of is.
That's what's really funny.
You know, it kind of is.
Knock, knock.
Hey.
We're out here.
KEN: We're back here.
- Oh.
SHAINA: Hey, Charley Brown.
Hey, Charley Brown.
WILL: Good morning.
SHAINA: Hello.
I know.
Good morning to
all four of you.
That's right.
[mumbles]
Good to see you.
- How are you.
- Oh, great.
How are you?
- I'm good.
How are you?
Oh, it's so good to see you.
Good to see you, man.
Good morning.
Morning.
The four of you all together.
I was going to go to your
house after this, but--
Hey, made it easy for you.
What you got planned for
the weekend now you're here?
I'm going to
try to see Javier
and whoever else is in town.
Change of plans.
Oh.
SHAINA: Well, we have a
little bit of a surprise.
We had a little get
together last night
with some of your
friends from growing up,
some of the townspeople.
Your siblings came into
town and some of your--
WILL: Oh.
Yeah, some of your cousins.
I didn't get the invite?
No, you-- we actually
didn't want-- we didn't want--
No.
It was about you.
We didn't want to include you.
OK.
SHAINA: We don't want you to
be gun shy from the divorce.
And we don't want
you to be lonely.
So we thought that we wouldo
bsee if anybody had familye.
or friends or knew of
anybody that might be
a potential to go on a date.
Pause, rewind.
[awkward music]
WILL: I'm speechless.
I figured that you would be.
We're going to actually
meet the five women.
And then we would
like for you to have
a little date with three.
Yes.
OK.
I'm very surprised that
they have gotten together
and had some very
in-depth conversations.
It is something I would
have never predicted,
especially in my
hometown, since I haven't
lived here in a long time.
You've never been involved in
my dating life in the past,
so what gives?
Well, we've never had
a child single at 37.
I'm getting older, honey.
Unfortunately, your
parents did get a divorce.
But each of them were able
to find someone magnificent.
You deserve the
love that we found.
I really believe you
could find your person
right here in your back door.
It's been 20 years, at
least, since I went on a date
in Milledgeville, so--
Well, a lot's changed now.
I'm in.
Count Charley in as well.
We'll see where the
Milledgeville fund takes us.
[laughter]
[upbeat music]
SHAINA: All right.
We're here.
Looking forward to this.
PHILLIP: This is going
to be the fun part.
WANDA: This is what
we've been waiting for.
SHAINA: So we're going
to meet Kay and Mattie,
and then we'll come back and--
SHAINA: So we're going
tand check in with you.
Y'all enjoy.
SHAINA: All right.
PHILLIP: Well, I
believe here they come.
She's a very pretty young lady.
WANDA: Ain't she adorable?
PHILLIP: Well, hello.
Hello.
- Hey.
Please, have a seat.
DAN: Well, this
is-- this is Amber.
This is my nomination.
PHILLIP: He has spoken like
he knows you quite well.
He does.
PHILLIP: Thank you, sir.
DAN: I'm going to leave
you with Amber, my dear.
Tell me how you
describe your personality?
I'm shy until I get to know
you, and then I'm very open.
Well, tell us,
how old are you?
I'm 36.
So let me ask you,
if Will were to say,
oh, there's a concert
in Denver, Colorado.
Can we head out that way?
I'm all for that.
He is so spontaneous
with his music.
He plays drums in a couple
of bands down in Tampa.
In fact, he's waiting
to close on a new condo.
Oh, Tampa is where
I'll be next week.
Will has been
married and divorced.
Tell me about your past.
I'm also divorced.
It's been, like, five
years since the divorce.
PHILLIP: OK.
- But you know what?
I want to get a photo
before you walk out of here.
AMBER: OK.
I want to get a photo
before1, 2, 3, got it. here.
KEN: This is it up here, right?
SHAINA: It is.
Hey.
Hey.
- So this is Mattie.
- Hi.
Hi, Mattie.
So I'm going to leave
it with y'all, and I
will talk to y'all later.
- All right.
Well, it's so
nice to meet you.
It was nice to meet you.
Tell us a little
bit about you.
KEN: Yeah.
MATTIE: I love to travel.
I recently went to
Iceland for a week.
- Wow.
- Wow.
MATTIE: And now I
want to travel more.
KEN: Do you like live music?
I love live music.
Will's a drummer
and a couple of bands.
It was amazing.
Wow, that is incredible.
What's the last
concert you've been to?
I went to the
WowTaylor Swift tour.le.
I'm a big Swiftie.
Mattie, how old--
how old are you?
MATTIE: I'm 28.
- You teach, Mattie?
I am a teacher, a
second grade teacher.
Will has a dog
that is absolutely
the apple of his eye.
Do you have any pets?
I have two dogs.
Oh, OK.
MATTIE: But they're both small.
Will's is a
long-haired chihuahua.
Oh.
So all three of your dogs
might add up to one big dog.
SHAINA: Yes, yeah.
That's right.
Glamour photo coming up.
PHILLIP: Hi.
WANDA: Hi.
PHILLIP: Are you Bethany?
BETHANY: Yes I am.
Here, I brought
you guys something.
Oh my goodness.
BETHANY: Brownies.
You made them?
Oh, you just won my heart.
Well, my first
question is your age.
I'm 33.
And what do you do?
For right now, I'm looking
for a more-- a better part-time
job while I'm in school.
What's your major?
Graphic design.
WANDA: Oh, OK.
Do you consider yourself
to be financially stable?
BETHANY: Not yet.
I feel like I'll get there
once I get a job in my field.
PHILLIP: OK.
WANDA: Right.
PHILLIP: Very good.
So what do you do for fun?
I like playing video games.
Right now, I'm into
Red Dead Redemption 2.
Now you're talking
above my head.
So I want to take your photo.
BETHANY: Yeah, sure.
WANDA: Gotcha.
KEN: All right.
I think that's her now.
Hi.
KAY: Hi.
I'm Kay.
SHAINA: Kay.
- Well, it's nice to meet you.
It's nice to
meet you as well.
Great to see you.
So, what do you do?
I'm a nurse.
KEN: Oh, OK.
All right.
BETHANY: I love it.
I love what I do.
In addition to
that, I did study
abroad for about six months.
I lived in London.
Oh, OK.
And I actually
studied theater.
What was the last
concert you went to?
I think it was Beyoncé.
- Do you have children?
- I do.
I have two boys.
And your kids are how old?
They are 5 and 10 months.
SHAINA: 10 months.
OK.
Yes.
Do you want more
kids do you think?
I'm open to it.
I'm not like a hard
yes or a hard no.
How do you feel about travel?
I'm not like a hard
I love to travel.
OK.
Great smile.
All right, we got you.
ANNA: I'm Anna.
PHILLIP: I apologize
for not standing up,
but it's great to meet you.
Thank you.
- Nice to meet you too.
- OK.
Please have a seat.
PHILLIP: Have a seat.
What about yourself would
you like to share with us?
I do quite a bit of
different activities.
I started as a yoga
teacher, and then recently,
I just started playing rugby.
Wow.
I am 34 though, so I
can't rebound as much
as I used to back in my 20s.
- It only gets worse.
- Yeah.
[laughs]
Don't tell her that.
So I'm also an artist.
You're not one of
those starving artists.
No.
I do have a day job.
I work for a non-profit
as an underwriter.
So I bought my dream house.
Wow.
Have you ever been married?
BETHANY: No.
OK.
Well, Will has.
And he's been divorced
about three years now.
OK.
PHILLIP: How do you
feel about dating
someone that has been married?
BETHANY: That's OK.
WANDA: Let me take
your photograph.
OK.
- Cool.
Thank you so much.
All right.
PHILLIP: That was fun.
KEN: You guys should go first.
- OK.
OK.
The first young lady we had the
chance to talk to was Amber.
Amber, she's been
divorced five years.
WANDA: Five years.
She enjoys music.
She loves going to festivals.
She loves to travel.
So I think she's got
a lot going for her.
So we-- we're making
a stand for her.
I will tell you.
KEN: Well, this is--
SHAINA: Mattie.
KEN:--Mattie.
SHAINA: I thoroughly
enjoyed our conversation.
I thought she was very down
to earth, very level headed.
She teaches school, loves live
music, and she loves to travel.
Mattie is worth
dying on the hill for.
I think she would make
a good match for Will.
We're going to
talk about Bethany.
Cute as a button--
she goes to school full time.
She's doing graphic design.
I don't know that she brings
the financial independence
that Will might want.
Didn't quite hit that bullet.
All right.
Kay is a remarkable
young woman.
WANDA: Oh, darling smile.
SHAINA: Yeah.
KEN: She is a
nurse, so she's got
a very practical side to her.
Loves live music.
She has lived an extremely
rich life in her 20s.
There's a lot that she's got
to put first before travel
and, you know,
some of the things
that are important to Will.
- Well.
OK.
Our last and final--
WANDA: Anna.
PHILLIP: Anna was awesome.
WANDA: Loves music.
And her-- her warmth and
depth that I picked up on was
she'd make an outstanding mom.
AWell, have we narrowedd
deptin on our candidates? was
I'm feeling Mattie's in there.
This sounds--
I'm feeling--
- easy.
- Amber is in there.
- Anna.
- And Anna.
And Anna.
WANDA: Yeah.
Yeah.
I think that's it.
Our town hall really
rose to the occasion.
Yeah.
PHILLIP: Exactly.
- Well, high five.
- Good job.
Good job.
[mumbles]
(SINGING) Just want to be loved
Just want to be loved
Hey, kiddo.
How you doing?
Hi.
Look what I found.
I'm not wearing that today.
Well, I-- you know, no,
but, you know, it says
so much about who you are.
It's all your hard work, so--
so, you know, I just think you
can share this if you want to.
I don't know.
I'm not going
to wear it today.
But thank you for
showing me that.
SHAINA: I'm so glad that
you're willing to-- to do this.
I really am.
I know it's not easy.
And certainly, you have the
history of your dad and I
and how life went on and
went on in such a great way.
I was married once before,
and despite all my best
efforts and my
partner's best efforts,
it-- it didn't work out.
I took it very hard.
I felt like a failure.
You know, it's been
four years for you.
I lost count a while ago.
But one of the biggest
lessons you taught me is I'm
stronger than I think I am.
Oh yeah.
That sticks with
me for forever.
Yeah.
I learned and grew
more about myself than I
ever would have imagined.
It made me a better and
stronger version of me
in the end.
And I now feel ready to
search for love again.
I think you're
ready for this, which
is why we did what we did.
And just enjoy
it and know we're
all right here in your corner.
And just enjoy
In your hands, I trust.
So here we go.
Thank you.
All right.
I love you.
I love you.
All right.
(SINGING) You
make me feel alive
Feel alive
ASHLEY WILLIAMS: Hi.
Welcome, everybody.
We're so happy you're here.
Come on in.
Make yourselves at home.
It's good to see you again.
Hi, Mrs. Smart.
Hello, Milledgeville!
[applause]
Hello, MiOK.dgeville!
Thank you all so much
for showing up for Will.
I am so excited.
I believe in love.
Do you believe in love?
We believe in love!
ASHLEY WILLIAMS: We had a
bunch of incredible nominations
for Will.
The parents here interviewed
bunall of those individuals.ons
They selected three people for
Will to go out on a date with--
Mattie, Amber, and Anna.
All of us right now, are
going to watch the dates live.
At the end of this, all
of you are going to vote
on who you chose for Will.
OK, first up, we're going
to watch Anna and Will.
[applause]
Hey, Will.
- Hey, how are you?
- Hi.
Nice to meet you.
WILL: You, as well.
- How are you?
- I'm great.
How are you today?
ANNA: I'm good.
- What's your name?
- Anna.
How a- Anna.today?
ANNA- Sorry.od.
WILL: Anna's cute as can be.
I'm a sucker for a good smile.
I know it.
I will admit to it.
And she has a great one.
So I thought that
it would be fun for us
to paint as a first date.
You might have to coach
me through this one.
I will help you
as much as I can.
And your parents sent
me a photo of your dog,
so I thought it'd be fun to
paint a photo of your dog.
ASHLEY WILLIAMS: No way.
Yes, Charley is
the love of my life.
Furry daughter, as
I love to refer to.
OK, I'm painting the love
of my life, which is my house.
It's an old, 1870 Victorian.
I live less than a
mile from my work,
so I bike to work every
day and bike home.
Oh my gosh.
I'm jealous.
It sounds amazing.
Your parents told
me you play the drums.
I'm a drummer.
ANNA: What's your
favorite band?
WILL: Queens of the Stone Age.
ANNA: OK.
WILL: What do you listen to?
ANNA: I love the
Rolling Stones.
That's like--
- Yes!
- one of my favorites.
I also really love
David Bowie as well.
It's actually in
my will that I have
to be scattered at
sea while "Heroes"
by David Bowie is playing.
Love it.
My lawyer really thought
that was hilarious.
WILL: I love it.
ANNA: Not to get super
serious, but your parents told
me that you were divorced.
Do you think you want
to get married again?
And I don't
think my experience
really changed my overall
outlook on love or marriage.
Life is beautiful.
Life is messy.
And sometimes, the beautiful
stuff you don't see
come at all.
And I'm-- yeah.
And sometimes the beautiful
stuff comes from the mess.
Hey, write that down.
She's got like a
sparkle inside of her.
Final swap, final reveal?
Oh my gosh.
I don't think I've
done anything.
I feel like I have a lot
more color to give to my dog.
I think that
looks just like her.
I've definitely
seen paintings
that look exactly like that
hanging up in museums, so--
yeah.
ASHLEY WILLIAMS: Great.
Wow.
So what do you think, Phillip?
I had no doubts that he
would crack himself wide open.
ASHLEY WILLIAMS: Really?
Because he's
that kind of guy.
ASHLEY WILLIAMS: OK,
here is Will and Mattie.
[upbeat music]
- Hi.
- Hey.
How are you today?
MATTIE: I'm good.
I'm Mattie.
WILL: Mattie.
I'm Will.
I'm a hugger.
How are you today?
MATTIE: I'm doing good.
How about yourself?
How are you today?
MATTIE:I'm good.g good.
Do you like flowers?
I do.
And I'm going to let
you launch into what
looks like a carefully
orchestrated display.
I'm going to call
it a experiment.
So we are putting a flower
arrangement together.
You're a total pro.
I'm in your hands.
MATTIE: OK.
My first impression
of Mattie, wow.
The jean jacket and the dress--
she's definitely cute.
I've been talking
to the store owner.
Her name is Cynthia.
OK.
Because I needed some
tips because my, myself,
I'm not the expert.
She is.
All right.
What do you have on your end?
Do you know the names of these.
This is-- this is
Whatcalled baby's breath.end?
Green.
[laughter]
And roses, and--
I was about to suggest
we identify by color.
Right.
Thankfully, I can--
I can do that part
with the flowers here.
Yeah.
I haven't been on a first
date in a very long time,
by the way.
I've been single for
about three years now,
so this is exciting.
When was your last
date you've had?
I dipped my toes into
the dating pool and--
MATTIE: OK.
- quickly pulled them out
after a small amount of time.
I do enjoy live music,
by the way, so that is--
Uh-oh.
- that's wonderful
that you're a drummer.
When was the last time
you went to a concert?
I don't really want to
say who it is because it's
basic girl stuff, but--
Hit me.
I-- I do enjoy Taylor Swift.
That's my, kind of my-- my
guilty pleasure, I guess.
Yeah.
So--
Nothing-- all right, number
one, nothing to be ashamed of.
Number two, if
Taylor Swift called
me and said she
needed a drummer
for her next world tour--
You're going, right?
I mean, I haven't
seen her live,
but I've heard that
it's an experience.
Yeah.
So I'm about finished.
Are you about finished as well?
I'm going to wave the
white flag on this one.
MATTIE: Do you want to go take
a seat and chat some more?
- Yeah.
- OK.
Let's do it.
Lead the way.
MATTIE: All right.
WILL: I know you mentioned
this is your first date
in a little while.
MATTIE: Yeah.
But if you had a
magic wand, what are you
ideally looking for?
A husband maybe down the
road, but eventually, a family.
Do you want children one day?
A huWILL: It's like, the
road, well, I'm not goingamily.
to think too much about it
until I maybe meet someone
where that would be a thing.
MATTIE: Yeah.
Can you check the time for me?
What time is it?
Oh.
Oh, gosh.
10 after 2:00.
MATTIE: Are you a little sad
that you might miss the Georgia
Tech game this afternoon?
WILL: No, I wouldn't say
I'm sad about missing it.
It's not going to wreck--
wreck my day or my weekend.
Gotcha.
Well, this has been fun.
MATTIE: Yes.
I can't remember
the last time--
I think it was-- this
was truly the first time
to have the flower outing.
Yeah.
Head out?
WILL: Absolutely.
Let's do that.
MATTIE: Yes.
ASHLEY WILLIAMS: That
was an abrupt ending.
Apparently, they were done.
And next up, this is
going to Will and Amber.
OK?
Here we go.
(SINGING) Having
the time of my life
Show me how to feel alive
WILL: Hey, how are you?
Hey, how are you?
I'm Amber.
- Amber.
- It's nice to meet you.
I'm Will.
Nice to meet you as well.
So Jimmy left these
drums up for us.
I figured this would
be a good icebreaker.
I know this is a
passion of yours.
Oh, my gosh.
I was not expecting to walk
into a coffee shop and--
AMBER: And there'd
be drums in the back?
I'm going to take you
up on the offer here.
Yeah, play something.
WILL: If you want to--
- Yeah.
WILL:--give this a try.
Oh, you want me to play?
Yeah.
WILL: Oh, OK.
There's a warmth and
glow to her smile.
And she's absolutely
cute as can be.
Even through the
nerves, and, you know,
I am sure was putting out
the same nerves as well.
We're going to slow
jam about Amber.
I'm going to give
you a little beat.
You can sing it.
- I'm not singing it.
You can--
She's like, no.
WILL:--you can scream it.
I'm a sing in the shower
or the car by myself
kind of person.
- OK.
Well, just pretend like
you're in the shower.
You're just going to tell me
three things about yourself.
Rapid fire.
You ready?
Oh my gosh.
[drums banging]
AMBER: I'm from Milledgeville.
From Milledgeville.
AMBEI have three nephews.ille.
You have three nephews.
And my dog is the most
important person in my life.
- What's the dog's name?
- Jace.
Well done.
You can do it back now.
There you go.
Also from Milledgeville,
born and raised.
I've got 10 nieces and nephews
as of a few months ago.
My dog, her name is Charley
J. Brown, the love of my life.
Yeah!
That was great.
This is extremely
thoughtful of you.
And I want to know more.
Where do you live now?
Are you in Milledgeville?
- I'm still in Milledgeville.
- Still in Milledgeville?
Yeah.
I bought a house
here when I was 25.
I've been here forever.
So I've heard that you
have met some family.
And I was going to ask, who
did you meet, bonus
parents, parents?
Yep.
She's like, oh, I know
all about your parents.
They did tell me
that you were divorced.
I'm divorced too.
OK.
It was incredibly
tough at the time
and heartbreaking and
just not a good thing
to go through at the moment.
But there's a lot of
good that came out of it.
You grew and you
to go moved on and youoment.
learned, and it probably shaped
what you're looking for now.
Absolutely.
You're the new and
improved Amber that
came out on the other side.
It's great when
somebody can understand--
until you've been through
divorce, you don't get it.
Your mom mentioned,
you know, you're
closing on your condo in
Tampa, which I'm actually
traveling to Tampa next week.
- Really?
Uh-huh.
I travel to Tampa a
decent amount for work.
Oh my gosh.
That's amazing.
Well, my family told me little
to nothing about the dates
that they were
setting up for me.
But I'm--
They didn't do too bad, huh?
WILL: Yeah.
I will absolutely
give them credit.
I do love going
to live music.
I'm a music snob.
I like good acoustics,
all of that.
So--
You said you're a music--
Snob.
OK.
You're talking to a fellow--
- I like good quality.
Yes.
I'm sure you can
appreciate that.
I really enjoyed
chatting with you today.
Yeah, me too.
OK.
We learned a lot.
That was exciting.
Did you enjoy yourselves?
- Very good.
Very good.
ASHLEY WILLIAMS: OK.
You're giving me
a look, Shaina.
You're giving me a look.
Well, he was
just so vulnerable.
I mean--
Yeah.
And it's amazing
that he did that.
Like, he really opened up.
Yeah, I'm like, super proud
of him, but really amazed.
ASHLEY WILLIAMS: OK.
YeahDo you feel like heroud
of hfelt a connectionazed.
with one of the women?
I wouldn't answer
that question.
ASHLEY WILLIAMS: Oh, that's
too-- that's too personal, hey?
So next, all of you, you're
going to write down the person
that you're voting for.
And then we're going
to come back tomorrow
and then Will himself, the
man, the myth, the legend,
is going to come out and he is
going to reveal who he chose.
And it's going to be so fun.
Are you ready?
All right.
Come on up.
Let's do this thing.
[mid-tempo music]
DONNA: I am voting for Anna.
She sounded very involved
with her community.
She sounded like she
loves her career.
And I think he'll love that.
RACHEL: I'm voting for Mattie.
She came across as
And sincere, very sweet, hat.
and I think they could
potentially be a good match.
DANA: I'm voting for Anna.
I felt like she was the most
comfortable with herself.
NICOLE: I'm voting for Amber
because going through a divorce
can be traumatic, and I
think they can support
one another through that.
I'm voting for Anna.
I just think they're
both deep thinkers.
[upbeat music]
Ashley, right?
Hi.
I've been helping your
parents find dates for you.
You have had quite a week.
I have.
There's so much
to talk about.
Come over here.
I can't wait to chat.
I've been hanging out with
your parents, all four of them.
And they're incredible.
Yes, they're absolutely
amazing parents.
So were you surprised
when you found out
what was going on this week?
On a scale of 1 to 10,
I would say about an 11.
Immediately, I knew it was from
the bottom of their hearts.
That was the part
I never questioned.
Can you tell me,
like, a little bit
about what your dating
life has been like?
I wouldn't say that
my experiences have
been negative by any means.
This was brand new, with
parents being this hands on.
And it's been more rewarding
than I ever could have imagined
and will absolutely
impact whatever
direction my dating life goes.
That is so cool.
This experience, I learned
I shouldn't shy away.
I can be nervous.
I can be a little
afraid, and that's OK.
So we watched your
dates live together.
[laughing]
Wow.
Well, I want to say good job
putting yourself out there.
Where are you right now?
Is there one in particular?
WILL: I truly had an amazing
time in the experience.
And no matter what, met three
incredible women, which--
Amazing.
- I-- I don't know
what I'm going to do.
So we're going over
to the town right now,
and we're basically going
to reveal to you who
the town has chosen for you.
We're going to reveal
to you who your parents
have chosen for you.
And then you're going to let
us know who you have decided
to maybe have a second
date with or get
to know a little bit better.
Pressure is on.
All right.
Should we do it?
Let's do it.
ASHLEY WILLIAMS: Let's go.
(SINGING) Oh, we'll
start again, so unafraid
We're rising up
Hi, everybody.
Come on in.
(SINGING) Because today
we're going to start again
Hello, Milledgeville.
Welcome back!
[applause]
Are we ready to see if
Will found love this week?
ALL: Yes!
This has been a
really, really big week.
Let's bring in Will.
This has been a
really,[applause]g week.
Let's brOK. in Will.
Come on up here.
Hey.
ASHLEY WILLIAMS:
Come over here.
WILL: OK.
There's so much love
for you in this room.
Your first grade teacher
is here, Mrs. Smart.
These people love you so much.
I thought I got all the
tears out, so we're good.
You can cry.
This is a safe space.
Ashley, if you
don't mind, I really
want to take this moment, this
opportunity to say thank you
to each and every one of
you for leaning into this
and for the love that
you have poured into me.
[applause]
So would you like to
hear who this community
has chosen for you?
I'm going to
absolutely say yes.
Everybody felt like you had a
really strong connection with--
Anna.
[applause]
Life is beautiful.
Life is messy.
And sometimes the--
the beautiful stuff
you don't see coming at all.
And I'm--
And sometimes, the beautiful
stuff comes from the mess.
Write that down.
ASHLEY WILLIAMS: All right.
And now, Wanda and Ken,
who did you two vote for?
Anna.
KEN: I thought Anna
listened to Will,
so I liked that curiosity.
I just thought it
would be a good match.
ASHLEY WILLIAMS: Nice.
OK.
Phillip, who did you vote for?
I voted for Amber.
I'm actually traveling
to Tampa next week.
Really?
I travel to Tampa a
decent amount for work.
Love it.
The two of you fell
immediately into conversation
about core values.
I saw a lot of similarity in.
What about you, Shaina?
I chose Mattie.
WILL: If you had
a magic wand, what
are you ideally looking for?
A husband, maybe down the
road, with eventually a family.
Mattie felt ready
to open and explore.
Does it surprise you that
your parents don't agree?
PHILLIP: Come on.
You could have worded
that a different way.
[laughter]
YouASHLEY WILLIAMS:ed
Fair enough, Phillip.
Did anybody get
Charley's vote, by the way?
Oh, shoot.
OK, so, Will, we're ready.
Who is it that you would
like to get to know better?
I would love the opportunity
to go on a second date--
With Amber.
(SINGING) Baby,
let's do it again
Come on.
Let's do it again
- How are you?
- Good.
And you?
ASHLEY WILLIAMS: Hi, Amber.
I'm Ashley.
Nice to meet you.
Isn't it kind of amazing
that this incredible dynamic
with all four of
your parents is all
about a second chance at love?
Do you think it's possible
that something similar to that
potentially could happen here?
Do you think it's possible
that someAbsolutely.ar to that
Like I've told myself
and my dog told me,
you know, sometimes
you just got to let
go and stop the overthinking--
True.
- and so forth.
ASHLEY WILLIAMS: Did
you feel chemistry?
Yeah.
It was just the
best experience.
We were able to
connect and really
engage in the conversation.
And so I do want
the opportunity
to get to know Will more.
I know you've
got some like, work
travel coming up this week.
So would you want
to potentially
maybe see her again, and
how would that happen?
In answer to
that question, yes.
And I would actually love
to take her on a date
again here in Milledgeville.
ASHLEY WILLIAMS: I
think we may have
just secured our second date.
[cheering]
Thank you, Milledgeville.
[applause]
I think, you know,
Thanka second chanceille.
love was always on
the table and could
very well be the case.
But the question is, did you
think a second chance of love
would be driving up the
interstate from Florida?
No.
But anything's possible.
Amen to that.
Glass of wine?
Sounds good.
(SINGING) Oh, we'll
start again, so unafraid
We're rising up
We'll be this way forevermore
And we ain't ever going back
Because today we're
going to start again
[upbeat music]
We're here in Milledgeville.
Hi, everybody.
What if your
parents gathered up
all of your friends
and your neighbors
to set you up on three blind
dates in your hometown?
Will is about to find out.
[theme music] Baby,
let's do it again
I'm Ashley Williams, and
this is Small Town Setup.
Will's parents,
Philip and Shaina,
were married for a while,
and then they divorced.
They both got remarried, and
now, all four are best friends.
Hi, five.
Will's parents
believe that he's
ready for a second chance at
love after a previous marriage.
Will is 37, a corporate
recruiter by day
and a musician by night.
So fancy.
We haven't had a
and musician before.ght.
He moved away to
Tampa, Florida,
but he's from Milledgeville.
So what if his love has
been here this whole time?
We're about to dive into
a romantic adventure
filled with love, heart, and a
hefty dose of small-town magic.
[cheering]
filled with love, heart, and a
hefty(SINGING) Start againagic.
While most have two parents
conducting their love life,
Will's got a whole quartet.
Get it?
Because he's a musician.
[cymbal clang]
Did you guys get that?
[lighthearted music]
Will reminds me of
me-- very independent.
I know that if he met the right
person, that he would be ready.
[doorbell]
Hell!
KEN: Hey.
Hi, everybody.
Hello I brought
you some flowers.
WANDA: Oh, you are so kind.
KEN: Oh how sweet.
Thank you.
Are you Wanda?
- I am Wanda.
- Hi.
It's so nice to meet you.
- And I'm Shaina.
Hi, Shaina.
Hi.
Are you Phillip?
- I'm Phillip.
- I'm Ashley.
PHILLIP: Good to see you.
It's so nice to meet you.
You too.
I'm Phillip, Will's dad.
Thank you so
much for letting us
come in and invade your home.
PHILLIP: Absolutely.
cAnd I'm Shaina, Will's mom
Come on in to your own house.
Phillip and I
cAnd Ihave been divorcedmom
for a little over 20 years,
and we have both remarried.
We're all looking for
love for our son, Will.
ASHLEY WILLIAMS: First of all,
whose house are we in right
now?
WANDA: Ours.
We're in ours.
ASHLEY WILLIAMS: OK, so this
is Wanda and Phillip's house.
Right.
And you two live
just down the street?
We do.
SHAINA AND KEN: We live a
little over a mile away.
So you all are very close?
We are.
I would say so.
I think we're just blessed.
Aren't we, dear?
No doubt.
ISHAINA: Well, I think the.
relationship is so strong,
it transcends the family.
I've laughed and told
Wanda a million times
that if I hadn't met
her through Phillip
and she moved next door to
me, we'd be best friends.
And the more people
who love your kids,
the better your kids are.
Exactly.
Absolutely.
SHAINA: Well, Will is the
youngest of our four children.
PHILLIP: He was just
absolutely a neat character
to watch grow up.
SHAINA: Will did
a lot of dating
until he met his future wife.
WANDA: Unfortunately,
it did not end well.
What was it like when-- when
the marriage didn't work out?
It's heartbreaking.
WhatI mean, you hate to when
thesee your child unhappy.ut?
PHILLIP: I think it
took him a long time
to ever feel in his
heart that he wanted
to go through that again.
SHAINA: And that kind of
brought us to where we are now.
I think Will really doesn't
want to make a mistake.
He doesn't want to
get divorced again.
Do you think he's
ready to jump back in?
I think Will definitely
wants a companion.
He wants to find the kind
of thing that we found.
And why do you think she's
here as opposed to in Tampa?
In Tampa, it's
going to take you
longer to find out who
they really are than it
is in a small community.
If the four of you could,
you know, throw out some ideas
about what Will might be
looking for in a relationship
or in a partner.
I think someone that
will just let Will be Will,
maybe not try to
change him, you know?
I love that.
I think Will would love to
have someone who enjoys music
with him and enjoys going
to concerts and lives
a fairly healthy lifestyle.
And they're going to
have to have financial--
PHILLIP: Stability.
That's fair.
He's independent,
and he wants
to have a person that has those
same core values that he has.
You know, once
that lust is gone,
you better have something
there besides that.
So--
All right.
So we're looking
for three dates.
We're going to
see if your town,
if your community can
come up with some ideas.
We have invited people who
have been a part of Will's life
just about since birth
comto tell about Willas.
and hopefully have
acquaintances that they
can introduce him to.
Should we head over?
SHAINA: OK.
PHILLIP: Let's go.
WANDA: Absolutely.
Oh, my.
(SINGING) Stop
till we hit the end
We fall down, we begin again
KEN: Oh yeah.
Here we go.
I got the cool thing.
Here we are.
ASHLEY WILLIAMS: OK.
Thank you.
KEN: Keep it in the zone.
ASHLEY WILLIAMS: Come
on in, everybody.
Take a seat.
Make yourselves comfortable.
Are you part of the family?
Yes.
ASHLEY WILLIAMS: Are
these the siblings?
SHAINA: Yes.
ASHLEY WILLIAMS: Oh, my gosh.
- Sit up front.
- Oh, hi.
Nice to meet you.
How's it going?
Thanks for being here.
This kind of experience is
what makes you realize what
a great town Milledgeville is.
PHILLIP: So many folks have
known our children since birth.
And they've watched them grow
up and go off and come back.
It just makes you realize
how wonderful a tight-knit
community can really be.
Hello, Milledgeville.
[applause]
We are so excited
that you're here.
Will has moved away
to Tampa, and we're
wondering if it's
possible for Will
to find love in Milledgeville.
Maybe love has been waiting
here for him all along.
When he moved to
Tampa, it really pulled
Maybe love has been waiting
a sad string on my heart.
It really did.
And with him being gone
that far and that far away,
I miss him.
I really do.
Shaina, can you
talk about why
you think that you
all might have luck
finding him love this week?
Because of this.
When I look at the people in
this room that we've asked
to be here, dear friends and
people who watched him grow up,
I would love for Will to find
a partner with the same values
that he was raised with.
And those are small
town, Southern values.
Is Mrs. Smart here?
[laughter]
ASHLEY WILLIAMS: OK,
Iso this is-- this?
is Will's first grade teacher?
SHAINA: Yeah.
ASHLEY WILLIAMS: Can you
just tell me, what was
Will like when he was a kid?
We had a special connection.
Shaina, his mom, was
my student teacher.
Then I taught Emily.
Then I had Klein.
Oh my gosh.
MRS. SMART: And then
finally, I had Will.
He was smart.
He was determined.
And he was as cute
as he could be.
All right.
Thank you so much for all you
did for all those students.
All right, so, Shaina,
come on over here.
Talk to us about what
you're looking for in
a potential partner for Will.
TI think they've gott
to be physically active.
They've got to be
financially secure.
They've got to love his dog
and watching Will perform,
and just, they've
got to love music.
OK.
Why is now the right time
for him to find love?
Because I'm getting older.
[laughter]
All right, let's get
you back up there.
I think it's time for the
big question at hand here.
Who could be a good
match for Will?
Come on up.
Wait, aren't you a-- a cousin?
I'm a cousin.
So I have a friend
named Mattie.
And she's 28, and she is a
second grade school teacher.
Mrs. Smart is so
excited right now.
[laughter]
OK.
Go on.
She loves dogs
because she has two.
And she really loves to
travel the tropical islands.
And she loves it when
Will's mother comes too.
All right.
Do we have any other ideas?
Oh, this is another cousin.
JOSH: Yeah.
ASHLEY WILLIAMS:
Get on up here.
I would like to
nominate my friend Kay.
Kay is 29, super
big into fitness.
And she is super, super big
into live music as well.
She is very kind, very sweet.
She will let Will be Will.
ASHLEY WILLIAMS:
Thank you, Josh.
That's my nephew.
OK.
Oh, right over here.
OK.
Come on up.
PEGGY I am nominating
my friend, Bethany.
Bethany?
Yes.
She's a wholesome girl.
She's Southern.
She loves to travel.
She loves to cook, might I add.
She's graduating from
Sgraphic designing
ASHLEY WILLIAMS: How does
she feel about live music?
She loves live music.
ASHLEY WILLIAMS:
Thank you so much.
All right, have a seat.
Oh, come on up.
Hi.
Say your name.
My name is Claudia, and I'm
nominating my friend Anna.
And I don't want to get
everybody too excited,
but I think she's got it all.
She owns her own home,
and she works in finance,
but she's also got an art
degree and is an artist.
I can tell you
for sure that she
loves live music and travel.
This is the one.
Wow.
And how about the dog?
Loves dogs.
PHILLIP: OK.
ASHLEY WILLIAMS:
Very well done.
All right.
Anybody else?
OK.
Who are you nominating?
I'm nominating Amber.
When I met her, she
was a paramedic.
And so she put herself
through nursing school,
and now she's a nurse manager.
She runs marathons with
the police department
and the fire department.
- Whoa.
So she's got good friends.
And she owns her own home.
How old is she?
Not married.
I wouldn't have nominated her.
That's right.
[applause]
ASHLEY WILLIAMS: Well done.
Thank you all so
much, Milledgeville.
So the next time I see you,
we're all going to watch
Will's dates live together.
So get ready.
It's going to be so much fun.
So geYay.ady.
[applause]
[upbeat music]
SHAINA: Will always
likes to be in control.
He doesn't like surprises.
WILL: Charley, come here.
[whistles]
So the surprise
WILL:element, I thinkere.
is going to be
really hilarious.
Yeah, maybe he'll think
it's an intervention.
WANDA: It is, sort of.
- It kind of is.
That's what's really funny.
You know, it kind of is.
Knock, knock.
Hey.
We're out here.
KEN: We're back here.
- Oh.
SHAINA: Hey, Charley Brown.
Hey, Charley Brown.
WILL: Good morning.
SHAINA: Hello.
I know.
Good morning to
all four of you.
That's right.
[mumbles]
Good to see you.
- How are you.
- Oh, great.
How are you?
- I'm good.
How are you?
Oh, it's so good to see you.
Good to see you, man.
Good morning.
Morning.
The four of you all together.
I was going to go to your
house after this, but--
Hey, made it easy for you.
What you got planned for
the weekend now you're here?
I'm going to
try to see Javier
and whoever else is in town.
Change of plans.
Oh.
SHAINA: Well, we have a
little bit of a surprise.
We had a little get
together last night
with some of your
friends from growing up,
some of the townspeople.
Your siblings came into
town and some of your--
WILL: Oh.
Yeah, some of your cousins.
I didn't get the invite?
No, you-- we actually
didn't want-- we didn't want--
No.
It was about you.
We didn't want to include you.
OK.
SHAINA: We don't want you to
be gun shy from the divorce.
And we don't want
you to be lonely.
So we thought that we wouldo
bsee if anybody had familye.
or friends or knew of
anybody that might be
a potential to go on a date.
Pause, rewind.
[awkward music]
WILL: I'm speechless.
I figured that you would be.
We're going to actually
meet the five women.
And then we would
like for you to have
a little date with three.
Yes.
OK.
I'm very surprised that
they have gotten together
and had some very
in-depth conversations.
It is something I would
have never predicted,
especially in my
hometown, since I haven't
lived here in a long time.
You've never been involved in
my dating life in the past,
so what gives?
Well, we've never had
a child single at 37.
I'm getting older, honey.
Unfortunately, your
parents did get a divorce.
But each of them were able
to find someone magnificent.
You deserve the
love that we found.
I really believe you
could find your person
right here in your back door.
It's been 20 years, at
least, since I went on a date
in Milledgeville, so--
Well, a lot's changed now.
I'm in.
Count Charley in as well.
We'll see where the
Milledgeville fund takes us.
[laughter]
[upbeat music]
SHAINA: All right.
We're here.
Looking forward to this.
PHILLIP: This is going
to be the fun part.
WANDA: This is what
we've been waiting for.
SHAINA: So we're going
to meet Kay and Mattie,
and then we'll come back and--
SHAINA: So we're going
tand check in with you.
Y'all enjoy.
SHAINA: All right.
PHILLIP: Well, I
believe here they come.
She's a very pretty young lady.
WANDA: Ain't she adorable?
PHILLIP: Well, hello.
Hello.
- Hey.
Please, have a seat.
DAN: Well, this
is-- this is Amber.
This is my nomination.
PHILLIP: He has spoken like
he knows you quite well.
He does.
PHILLIP: Thank you, sir.
DAN: I'm going to leave
you with Amber, my dear.
Tell me how you
describe your personality?
I'm shy until I get to know
you, and then I'm very open.
Well, tell us,
how old are you?
I'm 36.
So let me ask you,
if Will were to say,
oh, there's a concert
in Denver, Colorado.
Can we head out that way?
I'm all for that.
He is so spontaneous
with his music.
He plays drums in a couple
of bands down in Tampa.
In fact, he's waiting
to close on a new condo.
Oh, Tampa is where
I'll be next week.
Will has been
married and divorced.
Tell me about your past.
I'm also divorced.
It's been, like, five
years since the divorce.
PHILLIP: OK.
- But you know what?
I want to get a photo
before you walk out of here.
AMBER: OK.
I want to get a photo
before1, 2, 3, got it. here.
KEN: This is it up here, right?
SHAINA: It is.
Hey.
Hey.
- So this is Mattie.
- Hi.
Hi, Mattie.
So I'm going to leave
it with y'all, and I
will talk to y'all later.
- All right.
Well, it's so
nice to meet you.
It was nice to meet you.
Tell us a little
bit about you.
KEN: Yeah.
MATTIE: I love to travel.
I recently went to
Iceland for a week.
- Wow.
- Wow.
MATTIE: And now I
want to travel more.
KEN: Do you like live music?
I love live music.
Will's a drummer
and a couple of bands.
It was amazing.
Wow, that is incredible.
What's the last
concert you've been to?
I went to the
WowTaylor Swift tour.le.
I'm a big Swiftie.
Mattie, how old--
how old are you?
MATTIE: I'm 28.
- You teach, Mattie?
I am a teacher, a
second grade teacher.
Will has a dog
that is absolutely
the apple of his eye.
Do you have any pets?
I have two dogs.
Oh, OK.
MATTIE: But they're both small.
Will's is a
long-haired chihuahua.
Oh.
So all three of your dogs
might add up to one big dog.
SHAINA: Yes, yeah.
That's right.
Glamour photo coming up.
PHILLIP: Hi.
WANDA: Hi.
PHILLIP: Are you Bethany?
BETHANY: Yes I am.
Here, I brought
you guys something.
Oh my goodness.
BETHANY: Brownies.
You made them?
Oh, you just won my heart.
Well, my first
question is your age.
I'm 33.
And what do you do?
For right now, I'm looking
for a more-- a better part-time
job while I'm in school.
What's your major?
Graphic design.
WANDA: Oh, OK.
Do you consider yourself
to be financially stable?
BETHANY: Not yet.
I feel like I'll get there
once I get a job in my field.
PHILLIP: OK.
WANDA: Right.
PHILLIP: Very good.
So what do you do for fun?
I like playing video games.
Right now, I'm into
Red Dead Redemption 2.
Now you're talking
above my head.
So I want to take your photo.
BETHANY: Yeah, sure.
WANDA: Gotcha.
KEN: All right.
I think that's her now.
Hi.
KAY: Hi.
I'm Kay.
SHAINA: Kay.
- Well, it's nice to meet you.
It's nice to
meet you as well.
Great to see you.
So, what do you do?
I'm a nurse.
KEN: Oh, OK.
All right.
BETHANY: I love it.
I love what I do.
In addition to
that, I did study
abroad for about six months.
I lived in London.
Oh, OK.
And I actually
studied theater.
What was the last
concert you went to?
I think it was Beyoncé.
- Do you have children?
- I do.
I have two boys.
And your kids are how old?
They are 5 and 10 months.
SHAINA: 10 months.
OK.
Yes.
Do you want more
kids do you think?
I'm open to it.
I'm not like a hard
yes or a hard no.
How do you feel about travel?
I'm not like a hard
I love to travel.
OK.
Great smile.
All right, we got you.
ANNA: I'm Anna.
PHILLIP: I apologize
for not standing up,
but it's great to meet you.
Thank you.
- Nice to meet you too.
- OK.
Please have a seat.
PHILLIP: Have a seat.
What about yourself would
you like to share with us?
I do quite a bit of
different activities.
I started as a yoga
teacher, and then recently,
I just started playing rugby.
Wow.
I am 34 though, so I
can't rebound as much
as I used to back in my 20s.
- It only gets worse.
- Yeah.
[laughs]
Don't tell her that.
So I'm also an artist.
You're not one of
those starving artists.
No.
I do have a day job.
I work for a non-profit
as an underwriter.
So I bought my dream house.
Wow.
Have you ever been married?
BETHANY: No.
OK.
Well, Will has.
And he's been divorced
about three years now.
OK.
PHILLIP: How do you
feel about dating
someone that has been married?
BETHANY: That's OK.
WANDA: Let me take
your photograph.
OK.
- Cool.
Thank you so much.
All right.
PHILLIP: That was fun.
KEN: You guys should go first.
- OK.
OK.
The first young lady we had the
chance to talk to was Amber.
Amber, she's been
divorced five years.
WANDA: Five years.
She enjoys music.
She loves going to festivals.
She loves to travel.
So I think she's got
a lot going for her.
So we-- we're making
a stand for her.
I will tell you.
KEN: Well, this is--
SHAINA: Mattie.
KEN:--Mattie.
SHAINA: I thoroughly
enjoyed our conversation.
I thought she was very down
to earth, very level headed.
She teaches school, loves live
music, and she loves to travel.
Mattie is worth
dying on the hill for.
I think she would make
a good match for Will.
We're going to
talk about Bethany.
Cute as a button--
she goes to school full time.
She's doing graphic design.
I don't know that she brings
the financial independence
that Will might want.
Didn't quite hit that bullet.
All right.
Kay is a remarkable
young woman.
WANDA: Oh, darling smile.
SHAINA: Yeah.
KEN: She is a
nurse, so she's got
a very practical side to her.
Loves live music.
She has lived an extremely
rich life in her 20s.
There's a lot that she's got
to put first before travel
and, you know,
some of the things
that are important to Will.
- Well.
OK.
Our last and final--
WANDA: Anna.
PHILLIP: Anna was awesome.
WANDA: Loves music.
And her-- her warmth and
depth that I picked up on was
she'd make an outstanding mom.
AWell, have we narrowedd
deptin on our candidates? was
I'm feeling Mattie's in there.
This sounds--
I'm feeling--
- easy.
- Amber is in there.
- Anna.
- And Anna.
And Anna.
WANDA: Yeah.
Yeah.
I think that's it.
Our town hall really
rose to the occasion.
Yeah.
PHILLIP: Exactly.
- Well, high five.
- Good job.
Good job.
[mumbles]
(SINGING) Just want to be loved
Just want to be loved
Hey, kiddo.
How you doing?
Hi.
Look what I found.
I'm not wearing that today.
Well, I-- you know, no,
but, you know, it says
so much about who you are.
It's all your hard work, so--
so, you know, I just think you
can share this if you want to.
I don't know.
I'm not going
to wear it today.
But thank you for
showing me that.
SHAINA: I'm so glad that
you're willing to-- to do this.
I really am.
I know it's not easy.
And certainly, you have the
history of your dad and I
and how life went on and
went on in such a great way.
I was married once before,
and despite all my best
efforts and my
partner's best efforts,
it-- it didn't work out.
I took it very hard.
I felt like a failure.
You know, it's been
four years for you.
I lost count a while ago.
But one of the biggest
lessons you taught me is I'm
stronger than I think I am.
Oh yeah.
That sticks with
me for forever.
Yeah.
I learned and grew
more about myself than I
ever would have imagined.
It made me a better and
stronger version of me
in the end.
And I now feel ready to
search for love again.
I think you're
ready for this, which
is why we did what we did.
And just enjoy
it and know we're
all right here in your corner.
And just enjoy
In your hands, I trust.
So here we go.
Thank you.
All right.
I love you.
I love you.
All right.
(SINGING) You
make me feel alive
Feel alive
ASHLEY WILLIAMS: Hi.
Welcome, everybody.
We're so happy you're here.
Come on in.
Make yourselves at home.
It's good to see you again.
Hi, Mrs. Smart.
Hello, Milledgeville!
[applause]
Hello, MiOK.dgeville!
Thank you all so much
for showing up for Will.
I am so excited.
I believe in love.
Do you believe in love?
We believe in love!
ASHLEY WILLIAMS: We had a
bunch of incredible nominations
for Will.
The parents here interviewed
bunall of those individuals.ons
They selected three people for
Will to go out on a date with--
Mattie, Amber, and Anna.
All of us right now, are
going to watch the dates live.
At the end of this, all
of you are going to vote
on who you chose for Will.
OK, first up, we're going
to watch Anna and Will.
[applause]
Hey, Will.
- Hey, how are you?
- Hi.
Nice to meet you.
WILL: You, as well.
- How are you?
- I'm great.
How are you today?
ANNA: I'm good.
- What's your name?
- Anna.
How a- Anna.today?
ANNA- Sorry.od.
WILL: Anna's cute as can be.
I'm a sucker for a good smile.
I know it.
I will admit to it.
And she has a great one.
So I thought that
it would be fun for us
to paint as a first date.
You might have to coach
me through this one.
I will help you
as much as I can.
And your parents sent
me a photo of your dog,
so I thought it'd be fun to
paint a photo of your dog.
ASHLEY WILLIAMS: No way.
Yes, Charley is
the love of my life.
Furry daughter, as
I love to refer to.
OK, I'm painting the love
of my life, which is my house.
It's an old, 1870 Victorian.
I live less than a
mile from my work,
so I bike to work every
day and bike home.
Oh my gosh.
I'm jealous.
It sounds amazing.
Your parents told
me you play the drums.
I'm a drummer.
ANNA: What's your
favorite band?
WILL: Queens of the Stone Age.
ANNA: OK.
WILL: What do you listen to?
ANNA: I love the
Rolling Stones.
That's like--
- Yes!
- one of my favorites.
I also really love
David Bowie as well.
It's actually in
my will that I have
to be scattered at
sea while "Heroes"
by David Bowie is playing.
Love it.
My lawyer really thought
that was hilarious.
WILL: I love it.
ANNA: Not to get super
serious, but your parents told
me that you were divorced.
Do you think you want
to get married again?
And I don't
think my experience
really changed my overall
outlook on love or marriage.
Life is beautiful.
Life is messy.
And sometimes, the beautiful
stuff you don't see
come at all.
And I'm-- yeah.
And sometimes the beautiful
stuff comes from the mess.
Hey, write that down.
She's got like a
sparkle inside of her.
Final swap, final reveal?
Oh my gosh.
I don't think I've
done anything.
I feel like I have a lot
more color to give to my dog.
I think that
looks just like her.
I've definitely
seen paintings
that look exactly like that
hanging up in museums, so--
yeah.
ASHLEY WILLIAMS: Great.
Wow.
So what do you think, Phillip?
I had no doubts that he
would crack himself wide open.
ASHLEY WILLIAMS: Really?
Because he's
that kind of guy.
ASHLEY WILLIAMS: OK,
here is Will and Mattie.
[upbeat music]
- Hi.
- Hey.
How are you today?
MATTIE: I'm good.
I'm Mattie.
WILL: Mattie.
I'm Will.
I'm a hugger.
How are you today?
MATTIE: I'm doing good.
How about yourself?
How are you today?
MATTIE:I'm good.g good.
Do you like flowers?
I do.
And I'm going to let
you launch into what
looks like a carefully
orchestrated display.
I'm going to call
it a experiment.
So we are putting a flower
arrangement together.
You're a total pro.
I'm in your hands.
MATTIE: OK.
My first impression
of Mattie, wow.
The jean jacket and the dress--
she's definitely cute.
I've been talking
to the store owner.
Her name is Cynthia.
OK.
Because I needed some
tips because my, myself,
I'm not the expert.
She is.
All right.
What do you have on your end?
Do you know the names of these.
This is-- this is
Whatcalled baby's breath.end?
Green.
[laughter]
And roses, and--
I was about to suggest
we identify by color.
Right.
Thankfully, I can--
I can do that part
with the flowers here.
Yeah.
I haven't been on a first
date in a very long time,
by the way.
I've been single for
about three years now,
so this is exciting.
When was your last
date you've had?
I dipped my toes into
the dating pool and--
MATTIE: OK.
- quickly pulled them out
after a small amount of time.
I do enjoy live music,
by the way, so that is--
Uh-oh.
- that's wonderful
that you're a drummer.
When was the last time
you went to a concert?
I don't really want to
say who it is because it's
basic girl stuff, but--
Hit me.
I-- I do enjoy Taylor Swift.
That's my, kind of my-- my
guilty pleasure, I guess.
Yeah.
So--
Nothing-- all right, number
one, nothing to be ashamed of.
Number two, if
Taylor Swift called
me and said she
needed a drummer
for her next world tour--
You're going, right?
I mean, I haven't
seen her live,
but I've heard that
it's an experience.
Yeah.
So I'm about finished.
Are you about finished as well?
I'm going to wave the
white flag on this one.
MATTIE: Do you want to go take
a seat and chat some more?
- Yeah.
- OK.
Let's do it.
Lead the way.
MATTIE: All right.
WILL: I know you mentioned
this is your first date
in a little while.
MATTIE: Yeah.
But if you had a
magic wand, what are you
ideally looking for?
A husband maybe down the
road, but eventually, a family.
Do you want children one day?
A huWILL: It's like, the
road, well, I'm not goingamily.
to think too much about it
until I maybe meet someone
where that would be a thing.
MATTIE: Yeah.
Can you check the time for me?
What time is it?
Oh.
Oh, gosh.
10 after 2:00.
MATTIE: Are you a little sad
that you might miss the Georgia
Tech game this afternoon?
WILL: No, I wouldn't say
I'm sad about missing it.
It's not going to wreck--
wreck my day or my weekend.
Gotcha.
Well, this has been fun.
MATTIE: Yes.
I can't remember
the last time--
I think it was-- this
was truly the first time
to have the flower outing.
Yeah.
Head out?
WILL: Absolutely.
Let's do that.
MATTIE: Yes.
ASHLEY WILLIAMS: That
was an abrupt ending.
Apparently, they were done.
And next up, this is
going to Will and Amber.
OK?
Here we go.
(SINGING) Having
the time of my life
Show me how to feel alive
WILL: Hey, how are you?
Hey, how are you?
I'm Amber.
- Amber.
- It's nice to meet you.
I'm Will.
Nice to meet you as well.
So Jimmy left these
drums up for us.
I figured this would
be a good icebreaker.
I know this is a
passion of yours.
Oh, my gosh.
I was not expecting to walk
into a coffee shop and--
AMBER: And there'd
be drums in the back?
I'm going to take you
up on the offer here.
Yeah, play something.
WILL: If you want to--
- Yeah.
WILL:--give this a try.
Oh, you want me to play?
Yeah.
WILL: Oh, OK.
There's a warmth and
glow to her smile.
And she's absolutely
cute as can be.
Even through the
nerves, and, you know,
I am sure was putting out
the same nerves as well.
We're going to slow
jam about Amber.
I'm going to give
you a little beat.
You can sing it.
- I'm not singing it.
You can--
She's like, no.
WILL:--you can scream it.
I'm a sing in the shower
or the car by myself
kind of person.
- OK.
Well, just pretend like
you're in the shower.
You're just going to tell me
three things about yourself.
Rapid fire.
You ready?
Oh my gosh.
[drums banging]
AMBER: I'm from Milledgeville.
From Milledgeville.
AMBEI have three nephews.ille.
You have three nephews.
And my dog is the most
important person in my life.
- What's the dog's name?
- Jace.
Well done.
You can do it back now.
There you go.
Also from Milledgeville,
born and raised.
I've got 10 nieces and nephews
as of a few months ago.
My dog, her name is Charley
J. Brown, the love of my life.
Yeah!
That was great.
This is extremely
thoughtful of you.
And I want to know more.
Where do you live now?
Are you in Milledgeville?
- I'm still in Milledgeville.
- Still in Milledgeville?
Yeah.
I bought a house
here when I was 25.
I've been here forever.
So I've heard that you
have met some family.
And I was going to ask, who
did you meet, bonus
parents, parents?
Yep.
She's like, oh, I know
all about your parents.
They did tell me
that you were divorced.
I'm divorced too.
OK.
It was incredibly
tough at the time
and heartbreaking and
just not a good thing
to go through at the moment.
But there's a lot of
good that came out of it.
You grew and you
to go moved on and youoment.
learned, and it probably shaped
what you're looking for now.
Absolutely.
You're the new and
improved Amber that
came out on the other side.
It's great when
somebody can understand--
until you've been through
divorce, you don't get it.
Your mom mentioned,
you know, you're
closing on your condo in
Tampa, which I'm actually
traveling to Tampa next week.
- Really?
Uh-huh.
I travel to Tampa a
decent amount for work.
Oh my gosh.
That's amazing.
Well, my family told me little
to nothing about the dates
that they were
setting up for me.
But I'm--
They didn't do too bad, huh?
WILL: Yeah.
I will absolutely
give them credit.
I do love going
to live music.
I'm a music snob.
I like good acoustics,
all of that.
So--
You said you're a music--
Snob.
OK.
You're talking to a fellow--
- I like good quality.
Yes.
I'm sure you can
appreciate that.
I really enjoyed
chatting with you today.
Yeah, me too.
OK.
We learned a lot.
That was exciting.
Did you enjoy yourselves?
- Very good.
Very good.
ASHLEY WILLIAMS: OK.
You're giving me
a look, Shaina.
You're giving me a look.
Well, he was
just so vulnerable.
I mean--
Yeah.
And it's amazing
that he did that.
Like, he really opened up.
Yeah, I'm like, super proud
of him, but really amazed.
ASHLEY WILLIAMS: OK.
YeahDo you feel like heroud
of hfelt a connectionazed.
with one of the women?
I wouldn't answer
that question.
ASHLEY WILLIAMS: Oh, that's
too-- that's too personal, hey?
So next, all of you, you're
going to write down the person
that you're voting for.
And then we're going
to come back tomorrow
and then Will himself, the
man, the myth, the legend,
is going to come out and he is
going to reveal who he chose.
And it's going to be so fun.
Are you ready?
All right.
Come on up.
Let's do this thing.
[mid-tempo music]
DONNA: I am voting for Anna.
She sounded very involved
with her community.
She sounded like she
loves her career.
And I think he'll love that.
RACHEL: I'm voting for Mattie.
She came across as
And sincere, very sweet, hat.
and I think they could
potentially be a good match.
DANA: I'm voting for Anna.
I felt like she was the most
comfortable with herself.
NICOLE: I'm voting for Amber
because going through a divorce
can be traumatic, and I
think they can support
one another through that.
I'm voting for Anna.
I just think they're
both deep thinkers.
[upbeat music]
Ashley, right?
Hi.
I've been helping your
parents find dates for you.
You have had quite a week.
I have.
There's so much
to talk about.
Come over here.
I can't wait to chat.
I've been hanging out with
your parents, all four of them.
And they're incredible.
Yes, they're absolutely
amazing parents.
So were you surprised
when you found out
what was going on this week?
On a scale of 1 to 10,
I would say about an 11.
Immediately, I knew it was from
the bottom of their hearts.
That was the part
I never questioned.
Can you tell me,
like, a little bit
about what your dating
life has been like?
I wouldn't say that
my experiences have
been negative by any means.
This was brand new, with
parents being this hands on.
And it's been more rewarding
than I ever could have imagined
and will absolutely
impact whatever
direction my dating life goes.
That is so cool.
This experience, I learned
I shouldn't shy away.
I can be nervous.
I can be a little
afraid, and that's OK.
So we watched your
dates live together.
[laughing]
Wow.
Well, I want to say good job
putting yourself out there.
Where are you right now?
Is there one in particular?
WILL: I truly had an amazing
time in the experience.
And no matter what, met three
incredible women, which--
Amazing.
- I-- I don't know
what I'm going to do.
So we're going over
to the town right now,
and we're basically going
to reveal to you who
the town has chosen for you.
We're going to reveal
to you who your parents
have chosen for you.
And then you're going to let
us know who you have decided
to maybe have a second
date with or get
to know a little bit better.
Pressure is on.
All right.
Should we do it?
Let's do it.
ASHLEY WILLIAMS: Let's go.
(SINGING) Oh, we'll
start again, so unafraid
We're rising up
Hi, everybody.
Come on in.
(SINGING) Because today
we're going to start again
Hello, Milledgeville.
Welcome back!
[applause]
Are we ready to see if
Will found love this week?
ALL: Yes!
This has been a
really, really big week.
Let's bring in Will.
This has been a
really,[applause]g week.
Let's brOK. in Will.
Come on up here.
Hey.
ASHLEY WILLIAMS:
Come over here.
WILL: OK.
There's so much love
for you in this room.
Your first grade teacher
is here, Mrs. Smart.
These people love you so much.
I thought I got all the
tears out, so we're good.
You can cry.
This is a safe space.
Ashley, if you
don't mind, I really
want to take this moment, this
opportunity to say thank you
to each and every one of
you for leaning into this
and for the love that
you have poured into me.
[applause]
So would you like to
hear who this community
has chosen for you?
I'm going to
absolutely say yes.
Everybody felt like you had a
really strong connection with--
Anna.
[applause]
Life is beautiful.
Life is messy.
And sometimes the--
the beautiful stuff
you don't see coming at all.
And I'm--
And sometimes, the beautiful
stuff comes from the mess.
Write that down.
ASHLEY WILLIAMS: All right.
And now, Wanda and Ken,
who did you two vote for?
Anna.
KEN: I thought Anna
listened to Will,
so I liked that curiosity.
I just thought it
would be a good match.
ASHLEY WILLIAMS: Nice.
OK.
Phillip, who did you vote for?
I voted for Amber.
I'm actually traveling
to Tampa next week.
Really?
I travel to Tampa a
decent amount for work.
Love it.
The two of you fell
immediately into conversation
about core values.
I saw a lot of similarity in.
What about you, Shaina?
I chose Mattie.
WILL: If you had
a magic wand, what
are you ideally looking for?
A husband, maybe down the
road, with eventually a family.
Mattie felt ready
to open and explore.
Does it surprise you that
your parents don't agree?
PHILLIP: Come on.
You could have worded
that a different way.
[laughter]
YouASHLEY WILLIAMS:ed
Fair enough, Phillip.
Did anybody get
Charley's vote, by the way?
Oh, shoot.
OK, so, Will, we're ready.
Who is it that you would
like to get to know better?
I would love the opportunity
to go on a second date--
With Amber.
(SINGING) Baby,
let's do it again
Come on.
Let's do it again
- How are you?
- Good.
And you?
ASHLEY WILLIAMS: Hi, Amber.
I'm Ashley.
Nice to meet you.
Isn't it kind of amazing
that this incredible dynamic
with all four of
your parents is all
about a second chance at love?
Do you think it's possible
that something similar to that
potentially could happen here?
Do you think it's possible
that someAbsolutely.ar to that
Like I've told myself
and my dog told me,
you know, sometimes
you just got to let
go and stop the overthinking--
True.
- and so forth.
ASHLEY WILLIAMS: Did
you feel chemistry?
Yeah.
It was just the
best experience.
We were able to
connect and really
engage in the conversation.
And so I do want
the opportunity
to get to know Will more.
I know you've
got some like, work
travel coming up this week.
So would you want
to potentially
maybe see her again, and
how would that happen?
In answer to
that question, yes.
And I would actually love
to take her on a date
again here in Milledgeville.
ASHLEY WILLIAMS: I
think we may have
just secured our second date.
[cheering]
Thank you, Milledgeville.
[applause]
I think, you know,
Thanka second chanceille.
love was always on
the table and could
very well be the case.
But the question is, did you
think a second chance of love
would be driving up the
interstate from Florida?
No.
But anything's possible.
Amen to that.
Glass of wine?
Sounds good.
(SINGING) Oh, we'll
start again, so unafraid
We're rising up
We'll be this way forevermore
And we ain't ever going back
Because today we're
going to start again
