The Glee Project (2011) s01e03 Episode Script
Vulnerability
- Ellis, best first kiss? - Just ruin my life, lindsay.
Go ahead.
- Emily's flirty ways are busting at the seams.
And she totally knows it.
- I'm so good at that.
- Oh, and in the last chance performances, Mckynleigh forgot her personality.
Matheus forgot his pizzazz.
And damian? - I wish that I was jessie's girl - He forgot he was a boy.
Now, only ten contenders remain As they compete for a seven-episode Guest-starring role on glee, the coolest show ever.
And that's all you need to know so far on SYNC BY: @Maubri84 - The Tuunz! - Here, There, Everywhere - - "vulnerability"! Yes! I knew it.
I knew it.
- What a way to follow theatricality, huh? To go from, "blah!" to, "pleasePlease.
" The word "vulnerability" is kinda scary.
I just hope that I can put the jokes aside And be serious enough this week.
Both: please don't leave me - Damian has a pretty good line.
- Yeah, I like all of 'em.
[indistinct.]
- my heart is broken - heart is - This is perfect for you, though, And--and for you.
- Yeah.
- What? - Yes, I'm so happy.
- Just show that soft side.
- I want this so bad, and I'm the oldest one here.
And I've been trying for so long.
This show is my last shot.
This is my chance to show that different side That they need to see in order for me To continue to kick butt.
[school bell rings.]
- So today, we're all Just kind of buzzing to see Who the guest is gonna be.
Because we had idina menzel last week.
Darren kriss the week before.
We're all really excited about that.
[blows whistle.]
[scattered cheers.]
- wait, I can't see.
- Hey! - Hey, guys.
- Robert walks through the hallway With dot marie, who is coach beiste.
I was scared and excited at the same time.
- One of my favorite characters.
- So this week's theme is vulnerability.
And what that really means for us Is using your own weaknesses To make your performance more real and relatable.
- I know, with coach beiste, I relate a lot of my personal experiences in my life.
'cause I was always big.
I hear "sir" every single day of my life.
I've never been a sir, nor do I want to be a sir.
And the times where you've seen me cry, Those were real.
- And to get you in the spirit, We gave you a homework song.
Pink's please don't leave me.
- Oh, excellent.
- The contender who she thinks does the best job Will get not only a featured spot In this week's music video, But also, more importantly, A one-on-one coaching session with dot.
- All right, make me cry.
Make me feel it.
[pink's please don't leave me.]
- I don't know if I can yell any louder - how many times have I kicked you out of here? - or said something insulting? All: da da da da da - I can be so mean when I wanna be - I am capable of really anything - I can cut you into pieces - but my heart is broken - please, please don't leave me All: da da da da da please don't leave me da da da da da - please don't leave me da da da da da I always say how I don't need you but it's always gonna come right back to this - please, please don't leave me [applause.]
- Awesome.
- Really great job, you guys.
So, dot, what do you think? - Fantastic.
Beautiful.
Ten gorgeous voices, all of you.
But to me, like, when somebody's more subtle, It comes across as more real and more genuine.
Lindsay, beautiful voice.
But I felt like it was a little too pushed And, um - That's sad.
- It came across as, like, really forced.
- It wasn't that at all.
- OhMyGosh.
Is this chick really doing this right now? She's going there, isn't she? - I'm just telling you how it came across.
- It's just, I really was feeling something.
- Doesn't matter if you were feeling it.
It's what we feel.
- I love dot calling lindsay fake.
You nailed it right on the "dot," honey.
- Emily, beautiful job.
I could feel that there was some type of conflict Going on within you.
- It was the first time that we've seen you, In all honestly, not be over the top and-- - Sassyfrassy? - Sassy.
And the fact that I could tell you were really trying, For you, it was a big, big bit of growth.
- And matheus, you broke my heart.
And I felt like you were telling me something.
It was absolutely beautiful.
- Thank you.
- So, dot, who do you think Won this challenge? - In the end, I went to Matheus.
[applause.]
The subtlety in your singing, But yet the vulnerability, I could see it, everything.
It's like giving me chills Talking to you about it right now.
- I can't believe this is happening right now.
To be able to have my talent recognized By somebody like her means the world to me.
I'm a huge fan, so Oh, my gosh.
- Oh, sweetheart, thank you.
- And the big group number is - Mad world.
[all gasp.]
- Originally sung by tears for fears And then by gary jules.
It's a great song, beautiful words.
It's about teenage alienation.
- I do feel a little out of my element, Because I've had the comfort blanket of celtic thunder The last 3 1/2, 4 years.
But this is different Because it's such a fragile and gentle song That you just have to be yourself, And just put across emotions from your face, you know.
- We all know that glee is ultimately about acceptance.
So we're gonna ask each one of you To expose one of your deepest insecurities.
Put it out there and own it.
In public.
- I really don't know exactly what he means.
But I'm definitely not excited.
It doesn't sound veryFun.
- So later today, you'll meet with erik white, Your video director.
He's gonna ask you to come up with a word or phrase For the one thing you feel the most insecure about.
So start thinking about that, And again, be ready to own it.
- All right, let's go! Come on! Get outta here! [blows whistle.]
Get outta here! Let's go! You got work to do! - I'm proud of you, matheus.
I think you changed my biggest competition to you now.
[laughter.]
- Emily, how'd you feel? - I feel good, I mean-- 'cause they said they wanted to see something else, So I just feel like-- - I felt like this was your chance to show That other side of you.
- Yeah, so - We've been having first, individuality, And then theatricality, So we've had these big, huge vocal weeks, And then now they're asking us To strip everything that we've learned away And just be raw.
- Lindsay, she's a very smart girl.
But I think she definitely has to learn To let other people talk as well.
- Like I was just like, I thought I was feeling so much, I like--it was like-- You just have to learn how to adjust to your medium.
Well, you were trying so hard When you don't have to try so hard.
That my voice is what makes me strong.
Taken away from the fact That, you know, glee is all about Vulnerability is also about being What we're afraid to show.
- She has an opinion about absolutely everything.
You just can't get a word in.
You really can't.
Sometimes you feel like going up And putting a sock in her mouth.
- I don't fancy myself vulnerable.
But when I sat down and thought about it, I was like, "I am one of the most vulnerable people I know.
That's what makes me unique.
" - Knock, knock, knock.
[all shout.]
- What's up? What's up, gang? SoHere to talk to all of you.
I know robert talked to you guys about vulnerability.
For the video, I want you guys To walk through universal citywalk Wearing signs that indicate What you are most vulnerable.
- Universal citywalk is like A miniature times square for l.
A.
I mean, there's a lot of people there.
Yikes.
- Hannah, what do you think? Have you been thinking about, like, what word Signifies vulnerability to you? - Probably just "fat," Because it's kind of like a mean word.
Yeah, it would be the best one, I think.
It would be the hardest.
- It's gonna be very hard and personal, But, I mean, if you want to be a superstar, You gotta be an open book to the world.
Alex, what word symbolizes "alex" And vulnerability? - Well, my biggest vulnerability Is that I am gay.
- Mm-hmm.
There's a lot of people just like you.
And this is like your opportunity To make it okay.
- This is definitely an extremely hard word Because I just came out to my mom.
And I'm still in high school and it's my junior year, So I am taking a big risk coming out to the world.
I'm not looking forward to having people judge me.
- Lindsay, what's the real lindsay? Everyone's insecure about something.
- UmPeople will say that they can't see past My physical features, And since then, that's all I've felt.
I'm just a trophy.
I try every single day to put a happy smile on my face And to be kind to people, but I feel fake.
- Mckynleigh.
- Something I guess I would be insecure about Is, um, my ethnicity.
Coming from western kentucky, And my dad being black and my mom being white.
- All right, samuel.
- Guess if I had to choose a word, I'd choose "denied.
" Or unwanted.
I dated a girl for a little while, And we talked about getting married.
And I just don't understand how it goes from that To just, one day, someone means more.
And I feel like I always get, like, right here, And that if I just got, like, the last chance, you know, Like, I could blow someone's mind, you know what I mean? - Emily, your head is down.
- [whispers.]
oh, god.
- I know it's hard.
But that's what this is for.
- [crying.]
I've had music producers use me.
Like, sexually, you know? And that's why I just feel like a loser.
- Ah, you're not a loser.
Why don't we say "used," 'cause that's how you feel.
- It's the first time admitting all this stuff.
I feel hurt.
I feel disgusted.
I feel dirty.
Oh, my gosh, I can't even handle it.
- I want you guys to still think about, Like, what word might Signify vulnerability for you.
But I really like what we came up with today.
- People are breaking down today.
I wasn't prepared for that.
It kind of threw me off.
Right now, it doesn't even feel like a competition.
It just feels like we're all going through this together.
- Back to business! I don't like any of you! [school bell rings.]
- it's a very, very - Oh, my gosh.
- [crying.]
I'm changing my board.
Wearing the sign is just as bad As I thought it was gonna be.
[school bell rings.]
- Okay, oh, we're about to tackle Some beautiful, vulnerable lyrics.
I think it's hard for a lot of people To convey vulnerability in vocals.
It's about baring your soul.
Because you're telling a story, And you can't tell a story if you're not feeling the story.
- the dreams in which I'm dying are the best I've ever had - That was a little too sung for my taste.
- worn-out places worn-out faces - Okay, gettin' closer.
Tell me about what you're thinking Your word's gonna be for tomorrow.
- UmMy word is going to be "flawed.
" - Flawed.
Can you tell me why? - [sighs.]
Okay, um Oh, my god, my heart is pounding.
- Oh, gosh, I don't wanna make you Talk about anything that you don't wanna talk about.
- This week has been a lot more difficult Than I thought it would be.
- So your word is "misunderstood"? - The word is "misunderstood.
" You just have to think, in texas, People don't dress like this.
It's not okay to, like, You know, step out and be different.
They just thought I was so weird.
High school was really rough.
I am a christian, you know.
I've grown up in church, like, my entire life.
I didn't really want to be a part of the popular scene.
And so, you know, I was an outcast.
- I didn't feel like we got very far.
I didn't feel like we really saw the true cameron.
- Yeah.
- Yet.
- and I find it kinda funny I find it kinda sad - What exactly do you find sad? - I'm worried that I'm never gonna be able to love somebody For the amount of time needed.
My word is "numb.
" - You feel like you're just kind of going through life - Yeah, just - Just barreling through, Trying to get this career accomplished? - And then everything else, it's just - And everything else just falls by the wayside.
- It's just everything else, you know? - Well, I think that feeling numb to life is dangerous.
And it can be destructive.
- Thanks very much.
That was like therapy.
- [laughing.]
[school bell rings.]
[indistinct chatter.]
- Good morning! What's up, guys? [all greeting him.]
How's everything? - Good, man.
- I just hope you guys are ready.
It's gonna be fun.
It's gonna be hard.
But I think it's gonna be really good for all of us.
And to help out, I'm actually gonna have A monitor set up So you guys can actually watch each other As we're shooting the video, Which'll be really cool.
- That's awesome.
- Yeah, yeah.
- I'm definitely feeling pretty nervous.
I'm not completely ignoring the fact That I'm gonna, you know have to be wearing this sign.
But I feel like if I let it grab on to me, Then I'll kind of, you know, be a hot mess.
- You can do this.
You can do this! - I just put on the fat sign And rock it out.
Because I'm not gonna let my vulnerability send me home.
- Soon as you get rolling, it'll be good.
- Being vulnerable and being able To access your vulnerability is important to any actor.
It is so important on glee.
- Action.
- Playback! Go! - After we watch the video, We'll have to pick three contenders Who we feel were the least successful this week.
And they will have to do last-chance performances For ryan, zach, and myself.
And, ultimately, one will be sent home.
- Let's talk about matheus.
The theatricality challenge, he's very boy band, And he didn't step it up intoA character.
But now, today, You fall in love with him again.
- He's just so vulnerable without pushing.
- Matheus keeps winning, man.
- Whenever homework winner gets their one-on-one session, They're gonna have a little bit of an advantage, I think.
mad world - I noticed your voice was bigger When you were looking at me.
When you're walking around and stuff tomorrow, You're gonna be making eye contact with people.
You want them to see you for who you are, And that's this wonderful human being, This hell of a man.
You little stud muffin, you.
- [laughs.]
I looked straight into dot's eyes And I kind of just relived all the moments Where people were embarrassed of me Because of how different I am.
And hopefully I delivered the message.
I think I did.
Uhh! Both: There we go.
[both laugh.]
- One-take wonder.
That's perfect.
- All right, awesome.
- hello, teacher, tell me what's my lesson? look right through me look right through me In this challenge, I feel like I am Already starting at the bottom, kind of, Because I'm not that crazy, emotional person That's gonna hold nothing back.
And I'm gonna have to Scratch and claw my way up on this one Because I feel like if I'm not, Then this week is not gonna be the best for me.
- Cut.
Cut, cut, cut, cut.
- Cameron, just looking at him now, I think that he-- He's pretty comfortable with himself.
- It's extremely difficult for cameron Because he's so well-adjusted And I think he's confident with who he is, And he doesn't have a lot of deep-rooted secrets.
I think it might be to cameron's disadvantage That he's normal.
- He's not as connected as you would think.
And I think what it may be is that he just doesn't really Have any big issues.
- All right, that was good, cam.
- What do you got in mind for her? - Emily is gonna be walking down the walkway And, like, some guys are, like, checking her out.
You know, it's just like her just being strong And just, like, walking through, like, a crowd of people.
- I'm crying 'cause of my wedgie.
Don't worry.
- [laughs.]
All right, we're gonna knock this out.
Roll sound.
- And background.
[intro to mad world.]
- Cut, cut, cut.
One more time.
Reset really quick.
- Cut.
Reset.
- [laughs.]
- Roll it.
Roll, roll, roll.
Roll sound.
- I find it hard to tell you I find it hard to take - go ahead.
- when people run in circles - cut, cut, cut.
One more time.
Reset really quick.
I didn't see lindsay.
- Sorry.
- All right.
[both laugh.]
- Emily's doing great, but I think that her humor Might be hurting her at this point.
She keeps popping in and out of character between takes, And frankly, she's not hitting it.
If emily wants to make it on glee, She's gonna have to maintain her focus while we're shooting.
- You're coming up an escalator-- - Right.
- As some pretty girls are going down an escalator.
Maybe they feel bad for you a little bit.
- Right.
- But it's basically, like, the connection With you looking at the girls - Right, sure.
- Going up the escalator.
- I'm trying to pull something out of myself so I can feel And so the camera can capture that.
That's tough.
- [laughs.]
- So many people are do it And tears are gonna come down their face.
And naturally, you know, that's gonna look more emotive.
And I can't do that.
That's just not who I am.
And I believe that's gonna put me in trouble this week.
Thank you.
- Get warm.
- Cheers.
Thank you.
- This was probably a big learning experience today To try to be something that he has never been for us yet, And that's simple.
- Mark.
- Is anybody going up? - I'm kind of spaced out.
I'm physically there But my mind's traveling different places And I'm not concentrating on how well Or how poor I'm doing.
I'm really just concentrating on trying not to cry.
when people run in circles it's a very, very - Oh, my gosh.
Oh, my god.
- Oh, that just broke my heart.
Look at his face.
- You have this, like you smell something funky Kind of look on your-- - you have a snarl.
- On your face.
- A snarl? - Like you actually smelled something.
- You all right? - Are you just nervous about being up there or--? - No, I don't know.
I just Watching alex makes me feel like I'm a coward If I walk out there with the sign "flawed.
" I'm changing my board.
I just was watching alex, And he really put himself out there And it's not right for me to walk out with a sign That says "flawed" and then, um, not really Specifically address issues that I had in the past.
Part of me is proud of myself For mustering up the courage to be honest for once But, um, wearing the sign is just as bad As I thought it was gonna be.
- Go, kid.
- All right.
Let's just knock it out.
There's two more.
- I think this challenge, they all did very well.
Every single contender tapped into something.
Every contender had some kind of a breakthrough, Some bigger than others, But we are gonna have a really difficult time Choosing three kids that have to be in the bottom three.
[clack.]
- Here we go.
And cue playback, please.
[beeps.]
[intro to mad world.]
- all around me are familiar faces worn-out places, worn-out faces - bright and early for their daily races going nowhere, going nowhere - and I find it kinda funny I find it kinda sad - the dreams in which I'm dying are the best I've ever had - I find it hard to tell you I find it hard to take - when people run in circles it's a very, very All: mad world - mad world All: mad world - went to school and I was very nervous no one knew me, no one knew me - hello, teacher, tell me what's my lesson look right through me, look right through me - and I find it kinda funny I find it kinda sad - the dreams in which I'm dying are the best I've ever had - I find it hard to tell you - I find it hard to take - when people run in circles it's a very, very All: mad world - it's a mad world All: mad world mad world - mad world All: mad world - All right, good job, everybody.
That is a wrap.
Excellent job, guys.
- Ooh, I hate you! - [laughs.]
[school bell rings.]
- All of a sudden, it's elimination.
- You didn't quite connect.
- [exhales.]
- All of a sudden, it's elimination.
- Hell yeah.
- That blows.
- And the hard thing is that we all kind of, like, Poured our most insecure things out.
- I think this week, more than anything, It's a lot harder to call.
Everybody's very drained.
You know, just very emotionally spent.
And then you just-- God, well, someone's gonna get sent home today.
It's like one punch after another.
It never ends.
And I'm not looking forward to it.
It's gonna be a long day.
- [exhales.]
[school bell rings.]
[suspenseful music.]
- The theme of this week was vulnerability And we asked you guys to dig deep and you did.
Hannah, Mckynleigh, Marissa, Samuel.
- Alex, Matheus, You're safe.
You made the callback list.
- Thanks.
Ta-dah! They called my name.
And I am freaking out.
I cannot believe they just called my name.
- I know this is shocking.
No? - No, I-I-I know.
- You were a completely different person yesterday.
But once you started playing around with erik And it was a little bit more humor, I think it's harder for you as an actress To tap back into that honest feeling.
You started thinking, like, wait, where was it, Where was it, where was it? - Cameron, this particular challenge, You didn't quite connect.
That will be your job, to learn what you can pull upon From deep within to show your vulnerability to an audience, Because for any job, and in particular glee, People do that every week.
- Damian, you sort of had a little bit too much Going on like you were selling being numb Versus actually being honest about "this is how I'm feeling.
" - Yeah, yeah.
- Lindsay, when you did the homework assignment, You were very big.
However, you took the notes that dot and I gave you And you applied them 100% And did a wonderful job yesterday.
So, lindsay, you're on the callback list.
- I know that eventually we will all have to sing, But I'm glad I get one more week to wait.
I love you, guys.
- Emily, damian, and cameron, Treat this as if it's your first and last audition for ryan, Which, of course, it will be for one of you, unfortunately.
This week we've chosen songs for each of you That will play up your strengths and hopefully allow you To showcase your vulnerability even more.
Damian, your song is the elvis classic, Are you lonesome tonight? - Emily.
- Mm-hmm.
- You're singing grenade by bruno mars.
- For real? - For real.
- We hear that on the radio all the time.
Okay.
- Cameron, we want you to sing your song by elton john.
Do you know that? - Kind of.
Yeah, like, my parents love elton john, So I've always listened to it, but yeah.
I love that song.
- Good luck.
Break a leg.
I'll see you tonight.
Oh, go! - Oh, we're supposed to walk? Sorry.
- This sucks balls.
I'm not surprised I'm a last-chance performer.
I came here with the mentality That I was gonna be in the bottom three today, And I am in the bottom three.
Oh, my gosh, this is nuts.
Nuts! Not the nasty nuts.
Like, cool, like, nuts.
- is your heart filled with pain? shall I come back again? t-- The rehearsal for me is tough.
I just listened to the song and sang the lyrics, And this is the craziest thing I've ever felt in my life.
[crying.]
The song really explains a situation that I went through Where I had to choose between Basically the love of my life and my career.
[crying.]
dear, are you lonesome toNi-- tonight I've now found my vulnerability, And it's all because of this song.
[crying.]
- or a man who makes potions in a I feel like I was given a last-chance performance Because I didn't connect, you know, and I understand that.
They want that emotion.
Just because I couldn't give it to 'em, I have a chance to go home.
This is definitely the biggest performance of my life.
- So cameron's first, and as far as the challenge was concerned, He's a pretty together kid, And he just had a more difficult time Conveying any real insecurity, But he is just special.
- My name is cameron mitchell, And I'm gonna be singing your song by elton john.
[intro to your song.]
it's a little bit funny this feeling inside I'm not one of those who can easily hide I don't have much money but, boy, if I did I'd buy a big house where we both could live and you can tell everybody this is your song it may be quite simple but now that it's done I hope you don't mind I hope you don't mind that I put down in words how wonderful life is while you're in the world ah, ooh [applause.]
Thank you.
- Very nice, cameron.
- Thank you, sir.
- I'm going to be honest with you.
- Okay.
- I felt that that was a very Sort of coffeehouse performance.
I didn't get any emotion from that.
- Okay.
- Of all the people who've come out here In the past three weeks, You are by far the coolest cat we've seen.
- Amen.
- Thank you.
- You have the look, you have the voice, You have the style, but I don't know That you fit on the show When the show is really about underdogs.
You look like a paul smith model.
- But I think--I think that this look Doesn't represent-- I mean, you sounded gorgeous, But I don't think it represents you, Because I think you are one of the more unique people That we auditioned.
- Yeah, you know what? I look at this person.
I know how to write for that.
- Oh, go put your other clothes on.
- And I want you to come out, And this will probably be hard for you.
I want you to walk out, I want you to plant yourself at that microphone, And don't move.
I think that you need to Sort of perform it as a breakup song.
- I will.
Thank you, guys.
- Am I wrong? - Yes.
- Why? - He was performing for you.
- He--he--he thought this is how He was supposed to dress up for you.
- Because he wanted to be that for you, And he made a mistake.
- I was a hot mess.
- I thought at the end, you got A little bit too cutesy pants.
Well, let me ask you, who were you The least moved by at the end of the day? - You guys ready? - For what? - To meet your new contender? - Yes.
- I want to be in the glee project.
[laughter.]
- oh, dang! - I got kids to feed! I decided to dress up as my alter ego Chacha de jesus de avario de josefina.
I'm just saying, I sing better than all you.
it's a ma-ah-ad world [laughter.]
They just better be worried, Because when she comes out, that means trouble.
That means somebody's getting pregnant And it's probably gonna be me.
I always carry an extra sandal in my purse for emergencies.
[laughter.]
[school bell rings.]
- So the next person coming out is emily, And she's a spitfire.
She's, like, sassy.
And the only reason she's in the bottom three is, She had difficulty showing her vulnerability In a subtle manner.
- Hi, sassy.
- Hi, I'm the legendary emily vasquez, And I'm going to be singing grenade.
[intro to grenade.]
easy come, easy go that's just how you live oh, take, take, take it all but you never give should've known you was trouble from the first kiss had your eyes wide open why were they open? gave you all I had and you tossed it in the trash you tossed it in the trash, you did to give me all your love is all I ever asked 'cause what you don't understand is I'd catch a grenade for ya I'd throw my hand on a blade for ya you know, I'd jump on a train for ya you know I'd do anything for ya oh I would go through all this pain take a bullet straight through my brain yes, I would die for you, baby but you won't do the same - Very good.
You know, I have to tell you something interesting.
We love a good bruno mars on glee.
I think we've done five of his songs.
And that is a number one song, And I always am like, I don't know how to do that song.
I understood if I was going to do that song on the show How to do it from your performance.
My only criticism of it was, you know, it's a fierce song, And I thought at the end you got a little bit too cutesy pants, And I wish you would have stayed in your power.
- Okay.
- 'cause you have great power, And you obviously, um, You know, can tap into anger quite well.
- Talk about it.
Why do you think you're in the bottom? - Because I let it--my, uh, vulnerability was "used," And, uh, it's--it was-- I was thinking too much about it And I don't know, I was a hot mess.
- You have something that you're overcompensating for.
I get it.
I get what you're trying to protect, And I think it's moving.
I think you're moving.
- Oh, wow.
Thank you.
- You're very welcome.
- Thank you, my little cutesy three musketeers, honey.
- See? See, this is what's wrong.
[laughter.]
- It was that she would jump into that emily And couldn't turn it back on.
- And it was tough.
- Well, that is hard.
That's--that's--that's-- - It's really hard.
- Is cameron coming back out? - Uh-huh.
- There you are.
I love that.
So be that person when you sing this song.
- Okay.
if I was a sculptor oh, but then again, no or a man who makes potions in a traveling show I know it's not much but it's the best I can do my gift is my song and this one's for you ah, ooh - Very good.
- Thank you, thank you.
- See, I like that guy.
- I like him too.
- You are you, and I'm like, I know how to do that.
- Thank you very much.
- Okay.
- Go.
- Thank you.
- Bye.
- Thank you.
- Look at-- he's completely awkward.
And he is, in reality, the most vulnerable.
You look at his eyes when he talks to you, And you see right into his soul, And it's just applying that to his performing.
- I worry about him, 'cause-- Because, I think, of all the people Who are in this group, He's the most caricaturey.
- Hi, I'm damian mcginty, And this is are you lonesome tonight? [intro to song.]
- are you lonesome tonight? did you miss me tonight? are you sorry we drifted apart? does your memory stray to that bright summer day when I kissed you and called you sweetheart? do the chairs in your parlor feel empty and bare? do you gaze at your doorstep and picture me there? is your heart still in pain will I come back again? tell me, dear are you lonesome tonight? [applause.]
- Tell me about what you're feeling.
- It's a new experience for me.
I just broke down, listening to the song.
I was crying for about 20 minutes And I couldn't stop.
It's just not something I do, you know? I'm not an emotional person or-- - right.
- I don't expose myself that much, you know? - Well, you know, I have to commend you Because how you performed it, I understood how to write a character for you.
- It was just-- - that was the best - The best I've ever seen you, ever.
- Damian, that you've ever done.
- And I felt that you really-- you really pulled something out.
I was not expected to sort of see Something else to write to, And you did it.
- It's unfortunate for robert and myself To have to put you in the bottom, But if this is what it brought, I think maybe we made the right decision In putting you here.
- So stay--if you're lucky enough to come back, Be this person.
- Thank you very much.
- Get off the stage.
- You were very moving, so-- - thank you.
See you later.
- Thank you.
- We have ten incredibly talented kids.
- I think what it comes down to is, Who is a flavor or a person or a vulnerability That we don't have on the show? - Damian, I love him, But there's a reason that he's not moving forward.
- I agree with you, and yet it's hard to argue tonight.
- But I also think that moving forward, Emily will be able to bring a better performance Than he can as a soloist.
- I just couldn't believe that he was like, "I didn't know how to use the song, But now I know how I could use it in the show.
" - That's amazing.
- That's the biggest thing.
- That's incredible.
- And I was like, "oh!" - That is incredible.
- Cameron, he's so perfect that I get why you both would-- I mean, there's no disputing that he's a star, But he's sort of like, what do you create for him? - People will have a place.
I mean, it's a big [bleep.]
school, I think.
- Well, let me ask you.
- What? - Like, you saw those three people.
- Yep.
- Who were you the least moved by At the end of the day? - Ryan was like, nothing about me Like, when I sang or whatever, Looked like someone that could be on glee.
It was--he said it was almost-- He said, like, I was too perfect.
- I think we have our decision, And I feel that I can sleep at night with that decision.
It's sort of not what you would expect.
- No, not at all.
[overlapping chatter.]
- So this has been a really tough week, But unfortunately, the list is up, So go take a look.
- See you later.
You know, I want to stay here as long as possible.
I think, with that performance, I have certainly given myself The best chance that I could have given myself.
- I feel so happy with my performance And I hope I saved myself.
I really do.
- Yeah, I'm positive that it's gonna be me going home, And it's ten times worse Than anything I could have ever imagined it being.
- Yes! Come on! Oh! - Wow.
- Oh, my god.
[exhales.]
- I just wanted this so bad.
I didn't expect to be going home 'cause I've just been working my butt off.
I had a wonderful experience here on the glee project.
It was amazing and even though I tried Not to fall in love with people, I did.
There's a lot of beautiful people here.
I wish I was staying longer, but hopefully There's a pot of gold at the end of the rainbow for me, so - there's nothing you can say nothing you can do there's no other way when it comes to the truth keep holding on 'cause you know I'll make it through make it through [school bell rings.]
- Wait.
Danceability? - Why would you say, "hey, I'm gonna throw it away.
Let them do it.
" Do you think you're better than them? - For information on the glee project, Go to oxygen.
Com.
SYNC BY: @Maubri84 - The Tuunz! Captioning by captionmax
