Who Were We Running From? (2023) s01e03 Episode Script
Episode 3
[whimsical classical music playing]
[Bambi] It's been four months
since we left our Eden-like hotel.
Now, Mom and I are in
this snowy mountain ghost town.
Mom says the snow will be good for us
and that it will cover up
all of our troubles.
WHO WERE WE RUNNING FROM?
[dog barking]
[clock ticking]
Bambi, honey, what's wrong?
I can't sleep, Mom.
Try switching your head and your feet.
Just close your eyes.
You'll be asleep very soon.
Mom, there's something in my pillow.
[ominous music playing]
What do you mean?
It's right here.
Cut it open.
- Found it.
- Show it to me.
DOCTOR
This was why you couldn't sleep, huh?
It hurts, Mother.
It hurts so much.
[music crescendos, fades away]
Now I understand
why Mom was up so many nights.
Her pillow was filled with her past.
Filled with things that bothered her
and with things that hurt.
Now I get why she slipped out
to have a cigarette so often.
[suspenseful music playing]
[door opens]
[wind whistling]
Despite everything my mother did
to prevent it,
now I have something in my pillow
that's bothering me, too.
[lighter clinking]
[ragged breathing]
[suspenseful audio distortions build]
Shh.
- Please.
- Shh.
[distortions echo, fade away]
Don't do this, baby.
Are you okay?
What are we doing here, Mom?
Why are we in this cold place?
So they can't find us.
No one would ever search for us here.
That's why.
We don't need to stay, though.
Let's go get a cab, right now.
You're all that's important, baby.
I'm not important.
Don't say that.
I'm constantly doing things for you
that I don't share with you.
- Mommy.
- Hmm?
Do you remember
when you went to the bank by yourself?
Of course.
I was gonna go paddleboarding.
- Except that's not what happened at all.
- Bambi, baby.
We don't have to talk about this now.
What What do you mean?
But I will just tell you
this much about it.
Do you remember
playing with those two awful girls
on the beach who were so mean to you?
[girls' laughter echoing]
[Bambi] I remember those kids.
I was five or six.
Look at that bucket!
[Bambi] We were on the beach
at a hotel by the sea.
[girl] How stupid!
Bambi? What's wrong, baby?
Did someone do something to you?
They didn't want to play with me, Mommy.
- Aww.
- They said my bucket was stupid.
[tense music playing]
[mother] Just imagine how eager I was
to teach those parents a lesson.
Bambi.
Hit your delete button, baby.
Forget all this.
[mother] Your tears pierced my heart
as you were crying right into my chest.
And that's when your mother
made the Bambi Promise.
- You have a Bambi Promise?
- It's our Bambi Promise.
- I don't know what that is, Mom.
- Yes, you do.
That day I held you as you sobbed
into my chest, I told you about it.
[Bambi chuckles]
I don't remember.
It is still in there.
You can remember if you want to.
[Bambi] My mom and I
are really happy here.
But we still can't let our guard down,
thanks to people like this.
Oh, um, wouldn't you say
that you're being a little bit neglectful?
Uh, having that pretty girl
out this late, I mean.
[Bambi] This is our new pain in the butt.
She has something against Mom.
We call her the Hollywood Creature
because of her looks.
[Hollywood Creature] Seriously?
What kind of mother keeps her kid out?
And the Creature strikes again
with all her congeniality.
Let's go. The Creature said
it's past your bedtime.
[gentle music playing]
Hey, Mom, look.
Yet another who's lost their way.
Are you lost, sweetheart?
You're all by yourself.
You don't have a mom?
I bet he does, Bambi.
She's probably close.
- [man] It looks like the Snipper, right?
- [woman] Totally!
[man] Watch out,
the Snipper is coming for you!
[woman] Hey! Stop it!
Those stories give me the creeps.
Bambi, how about
walking your new friend upstairs?
I bet he's hungry.
- Okay, sure.
- Let's go.
[suspenseful music playing]
[dog whimpering]
[man] We're not sure
if the girl knows about the murders.
We have no evidence
that proves she was involved.
So far, she looks clean.
But who knows what will happen.
[man 2] Two hotels, two homicides.
And they used different
fake IDs at both, right?
So we don't have their real IDs
or their place of residence.
They have no records.
No phones listed,
no credit card histories.
Totally off the grid.
It's unusual.
What are you telling me? Huh, kiddo, what?
You call beating the system "unusual"?
Are these women wanted international
terrorists or something like that?
If you don't think you can pull this off,
I'll bring in another team!
Sir, all of the bus terminals and airports
are being scanned with cameras.
We'll get them soon.
[man 2] It's been months with no results!
Don't drag this out.
I want them found. All right?
Back to work, come on!
[suspenseful music playing]
You like that, huh? [Bambi laughs]
I'm glad we brought him up here.
Me, too, baby.
My mom can't stand to see me sad.
If she knew what happened with the doctor,
who knows what she'd do?
[dog whines, yips]
You stop that noise,
or they'll kick us out of the hotel.
He's saying thank you in his own way.
It's possible that we got a room here
just so we'd meet this cutie.
You think?
I think it was meant to be.
So that we could feed him,
and he could heal and warm our hearts.
[Bambi] My mother, the magician.
She can make me feel better
with just a few words.
I once had a puppy of my own.
You never told me that.
Really? And what was it like?
Noisy, and it was the most angry dog ever.
And crazy and so terribly tormented.
So I was given no choice but to love it.
But naturally, the ice queen hated it.
Why do you say
it was so crazy and tormented?
Because it was scared of everything.
[ominous music playing]
And that's why it was so aggressive.
It didn't even need a reason.
Its fear ruled.
[dog barking echoes]
[woman] Our only daughter
has disgraced us.
This is how she thanks her parents.
Have you not even considered
the repercussions?
Didn't you even think once
about how you would embarrass us?
No.
Of course you didn't.
As if I need more of you around.
We'll have another little you, right?
[dog continues barking]
You tell me right now, who is the father?
Go on, tell me!
[dog continues barking]
For God's sake, someone
shut that crazy thing up!
You keep this quiet. You figure this out
before you father hears.
I'll find a doctor immediately.
I won't go to a doctor.
Huh?
How about you look me in the eye
and try speaking those words again?
We aren't going to a doctor.
And you had better tell your mutt
to stay away from my puppy.
[ominous music continuing]
[door slams]
Back to work!
[music trails off]
[Bambi] You haven't even
touched your breakfast.
I don't really feel like it.
I'm sick of eating here.
I've had it all.
Is it from talking about your puppy?
Your story ends badly, right?
Trust me, you can't even begin
to imagine your grandma's malice.
Lubricating oil.
[thunder booms]
BRAKING SYSTEM
- Brake hydraulics.
- [dogs barking]
[puppy whines]
What have they done to you?
What have they done?
What have they done?
[breathing shakily]
[dark, intense music building]
It's my baby. And I'm keeping it.
It's my baby! None of you will hurt it.
[music trails off]
You've been through awful things.
It's sad your poor dog had that happen.
You'll always be safe
as long as I'm here.
[Hollywood Creature] Hello!
Oh, hey, Mom, that pretty girl
needs an organic diet.
You can't just let her have anything.
You know?
Do we really have to
keep putting up with her nosiness?
No, no, we don't.
But she's oblivious somehow.
Our resentment towards her ends up
making her feel good for some reason.
[titters]
Um, face cream.
- What now?
- No clue, Mom.
Cream, hon, you need skin cream.
[Hollywood Creature laughs]
Um, your skin looks neglected.
Your mom isn't doing enough.
Her, uh, her nose
and both her cheeks are chapped. It's
- What do they want from us?
- Who, baby?
Well, like the Hollywood Creature,
the gossip lady,
the hotel manager.
Or the doctor.
Because they aren't lonely like us.
They have friends and families.
They have homes to go to.
So why do they bother us?
It's because we don't worship
the things that they do,
or follow any of the agendas
that they're pushing on us.
For that, they think
you and I are weak, babe.
They would take
every opportunity to crush us.
So that's when I feel
that I have an obligation to teach them.
[suspenseful music playing]
Keep eating.
[chief] All right, talk to me.
Any updates?
We found out they'd
gone abroad and returned.
New York, London, India,
and a few hotels here at home.
They usually use the coastline,
the Aegean to the Med.
Fancy hotels, pricy rooms.
After the death of the doctor,
they moved to another hotel.
And they'll likely just move
from one to the next.
What are you saying,
these two have no place of their own?
And how are they funding all this?
Since we haven't been able
to identify who they are,
I'm afraid we don't have
those answers, sir.
Oh, but we do have
the traffic cam footage.
That bus is en route to Ürgüp,
Cappadocia.
So, looks like they're moving inland.
- So let's find 'em and bring 'em in.
- All right, sir.
We'll head over soon as we find out
where their hotel is.
Well, maybe I can
make things easier for you.
Head that way and I'll have
these photos sent to every hotel.
- Yes, sir. Understood, sir.
- Maybe someone knows something.
[dog yipping]
Go on.
[both giggling]
Hurry back here, baby, all right?
All right,
I'll just take him to his mother.
Come on! Come here, come! Run!
Yeah, run, puppy, run,
come on! There we go!
Come on!
[somber music playing]
[Bambi] One day,
I'll make my own decisions.
That's what Mom says.
She can really do anything.
She would even let me go on my own.
But even if I could,
I would still stay with my mother.
[dog barking]
Come on, stop playing.
Call to her. Tell her, "I'm here, Mom!"
Hey, get back here! Where are you going?
Get back here! Hey!
We still have to find your mother.
[dog barking in distance]
Where are you?
[tense music playing]
Are you in there?
Where did you go?
[tense music continuing]
[indistinct whispering in distance]
[couple laughing]
[woman] Hey! What are you doing?
Why are you watching us?
No, excuse me. I'm looking for my dog.
What dog? Are you stupid?
You get lost!
I'm so sorry! I really didn't mean
[woman] Get out of here! Now!
[man] It's cool.
Chill out. What's the big deal?
[woman] I don't know. I was scared.
I have been super anxious
since I heard about the hotel killer.
[man] Hotel killer?
[woman] You didn't hear?
He slashed up a doctor with a box cutter!
[man] Whoa.
[woman] And a hotel manager before that.
They're calling him the Snipper.
[man] All right, enough.
[delicate, unnerving music playing]
[woman] He slashed up a doctor
with a box cutter!
And a hotel manager before that.
[music trails off]
Bambi? You all right?
Baby, is something wrong?
What happened? Did someone hurt you?
You can say it. Now, come on.
The puppy and his mother
had me chasing after them,
and I'm just out of breath.
I can feel my heart racing!
Baby.
No.
Can we go back to the room, please?
I'm so thirsty.
[foreboding music playing]
Bambi.
Oh my goodness.
I'm still so thirsty.
I really must have
over-worked myself, right?
He was so excited to see his mother.
She was in the tunnels.
Gosh, my mouth is dry.
I'm gonna drink some more.
I'm so sorry! It was an accident!
Baby, stop.
I want you to tell me
what happened to you.
I want you to look into my eyes.
Uh, well Um, nothing happened, Mommy.
No one did anything to me.
[foreboding music continuing]
I'll go get changed.
[unzips bag]
[shower running]
[Bambi] Mother
I remember our Bambi Promise now.
[mother] I am the only one
who can make you cry.
And only you can make me cry.
That's why I'll never be far.
Mommy's here.
To punish anyone
who hurts you or upsets you.
[foreboding music continuing]
[music trails off]
I can't answer
a hard question right now, okay?
This really isn't the time.
It was because of me.
I'm the reason.
[door opens]
[door closes]
[mother] Bambi, wait!
Wait for me, please!
Bambi, please listen.
We're not running from anyone.
I know that now.
Your parents are dead and gone.
Nobody is chasing us anymore.
Baby, hear me out.
I know who we're truly running from.
The manager and the doctor,
I know what happened to them!
You did it because of me.
- I'm the reason.
- Hush.
I did not hurt anyone
that didn't deserve it.
Don't blame yourself.
- Please, I that you want to walk away now.
- Mom.
- The first time you've seen me like this.
- I get it.
Once again, that poor girl is crying
because of her negligent
and careless mother.
Yeah, you're right.
That gorgeous girl is
getting neglected by her mother.
Look at that! You can talk!
Mommy Dearest speaks!
How about you leave us alone,
and go enjoy your success?
- Let's go, baby.
- What are you saying?
Is she that stupid, baby? Huh?
Look, I I like you ladies a whole bunch,
and I thought
you both were different, you know, so
- Well
- You're a complete moron.
We can't stand the sight of you.
Take a hint.
You are such a monster!
[sobbing]
No one's said anything like that
to me my whole life!
Hey, what's happening?
What's happening, honey?
She insulted me.
I thought they seemed so lonely,
so I was trying to be nice to her!
Only 'cause I had sympathy for them!
But you're insane.
You're a psychopath pestering strangers
and pretending to be sympathetic.
Who are you to call my wife
a psychopath, you lunatic?
- What's your deal?
- She's a psychopath.
Which you'd realize
if you weren't so dumb.
Sir. There's a quarrel out on the bridge.
[overlapping argumentative chatter]
[phone ringing]
[officer] Something happening
on the bridge.
- [husband] You don't know who I am.
- Everyone does. You're total trash.
- I'm this close to hurting this stuck-up
- Honey, clearly she's mental! Calm down.
Honey, please relax.
- [man] Sir, please.
- Calm down, honey.
Sir, calm down.
- And ma'am
- That's enough!
What is it you want from us?
What do you want?
Hey, Bambi!
I wish that I had your box cutter.
- I would have
- Stop being ridiculous and pack.
We need to leave the hotel, now.
What happened with the Creature?
Not a good time to be asking questions.
Mom, what's going on?
[suspenseful music playing]
PRIVATE SECURITY
Taxi
I'm off, ma'am. Sorry.
Could you take us to the station, please?
And hurry, our bus leaves in 15.
They're not in their room, sir.
- You checked the lobby or dining room?
- We looked everywhere. They're nowhere.
[suspenseful music continuing]
[phone ringing]
[driver] Talk to me.
[man] Don't give anything away.
Are the mother and daughter in the car?
The cops are asking.
[driver] Uh, okay. Whatever you say.
Yeah, okay, no problem.
I'll drop the passengers off
at the bus station
and get back to the stand.
I'd like to get out.
Pull over. We'll get out here.
I'm sorry, miss?
I said let us out.
I will pay the whole fare.
[driver] But we're not at the station.
How many times
do I have to tell you to stop?
- Come with me.
- [driver] Hey, easy on the door!
This way.
- [driver 2] Where to, ma'am?
- [mother] Just keep driving.
I'll tell you when we get there.
Okay, finally.
Now you can ask me whatever you want to.
[Bambi] Why did we have to run
all of a sudden, Mom?
Because of that old man at the hotel
who was on the phone constantly.
And, well, that cab driver's
phone conversation was unsettling.
SECURITY
Thank you, ma'am. You can come through.
Tell me the truth. What happened
with the Hollywood Creature?
That goddamn Hollywood Creature!
This is all her fault.
[security checkpoint beeping]
[guard] Excuse me, excuse me.
Ma'am, please take your belt off
and walk through one more time.
Follow me. We need to buy tickets.
Come on.
[guard] That's right,
everything out of your pockets.
Okay, just your belt
We're right next to the station.
Yeah, we're already on site.
Okay. Okay, got it.
The hotel called. The mother and daughter
are headed to the bus station in a cab.
Then, get up.
- [man 1] Where's the exit?
- [man 2] We need to go that way.
[suspenseful music playing]
- Are you going to answer my question, now?
- Yes, baby.
No harm came to
that Hollywood Creature or her husband.
So, the only reason we're running
is because some old guy talks too much?
That old guy was
the security at the hotel.
I bet he's an ex-cop.
I can feel it. Can you?
A storm is brewing.
Come with me.
- [man 1] I guess they bolted from the cab.
- [man 2] Well, now what do we do?
[man 1] Just keep your eyes open.
[man 2] I don't get it.
One minute we're in a bus station
Mom, what's wrong?
Those two guys
- [Bambi] What about them?
- They look like cops.
How do you know?
It's obvious.
- I can tell a cop from a mile away.
- Let's go. We'll tell the local police.
They really are police, huh?
Mommy has saved us
from a lot of trouble like this, baby.
I bet the old guy at the hotel
alerted them.
Then they asked the cab driver
where we were going.
- Then we probably should get going.
- We'll leave the country.
We got to get out of here
as soon as we can.
If you say so
- Let's go buy our tickets then, huh?
- Okay.
Is something on your mind?
Yup.
Teach me, Mother.
Huh?
You can smell trouble in the air.
I want to know how to avoid it.
How do you recognize an undercover?
I want to learn all of it.
Why's that?
Because I would also like
to punish anyone who hurts us.
You really like it?
You have no idea.
All right then.
I want you to remember this, though.
If you feel like
you're ready to fight a monster,
then you're ready to become one, too.

[Bambi] You haven't even
touched your breakfast.
I don't really feel like it.
I'm sick of eating here.
I've had it all.
Is it from talking about your puppy?
Your story ends badly, right?
Trust me, you can't even begin
to imagine your grandma's malice.
Lubricating oil.
[thunder booms]
BRAKING SYSTEM
- Brake hydraulics.
- [dogs barking]
[puppy whines]
What have they done to you?
What have they done?
What have they done?
[breathing shakily]
[dark, intense music building]
It's my baby. And I'm keeping it.
It's my baby! None of you will hurt it.
[music trails off]
You've been through awful things.
It's sad your poor dog had that happen.
You'll always be safe
as long as I'm here.
[Hollywood Creature] Hello!
Oh, hey, Mom, that pretty girl
needs an organic diet.
You can't just let her have anything.
You know?
Do we really have to
keep putting up with her nosiness?
No, no, we don't.
But she's oblivious somehow.
Our resentment towards her ends up
making her feel good for some reason.
[titters]
Um, face cream.
- What now?
- No clue, Mom.
Cream, hon, you need skin cream.
[Hollywood Creature laughs]
Um, your skin looks neglected.
Your mom isn't doing enough.
Her, uh, her nose
and both her cheeks are chapped. It's
- What do they want from us?
- Who, baby?
Well, like the Hollywood Creature,
the gossip lady,
the hotel manager.
Or the doctor.
Because they aren't lonely like us.
They have friends and families.
They have homes to go to.
So why do they bother us?
It's because we don't worship
the things that they do,
or follow any of the agendas
that they're pushing on us.
For that, they think
you and I are weak, babe.
They would take
every opportunity to crush us.
So that's when I feel
that I have an obligation to teach them.
[suspenseful music playing]
Keep eating.
[chief] All right, talk to me.
Any updates?
We found out they'd
gone abroad and returned.
New York, London, India,
and a few hotels here at home.
They usually use the coastline,
the Aegean to the Med.
Fancy hotels, pricy rooms.
After the death of the doctor,
they moved to another hotel.
And they'll likely just move
from one to the next.
What are you saying,
these two have no place of their own?
And how are they funding all this?
Since we haven't been able
to identify who they are,
I'm afraid we don't have
those answers, sir.
Oh, but we do have
the traffic cam footage.
That bus is en route to Ürgüp,
Cappadocia.
So, looks like they're moving inland.
- So let's find 'em and bring 'em in.
- All right, sir.
We'll head over soon as we find out
where their hotel is.
Well, maybe I can
make things easier for you.
Head that way and I'll have
these photos sent to every hotel.
- Yes, sir. Understood, sir.
- Maybe someone knows something.
[dog yipping]
Go on.
[both giggling]
Hurry back here, baby, all right?
All right,
I'll just take him to his mother.
Come on! Come here, come! Run!
Yeah, run, puppy, run,
come on! There we go!
Come on!
[somber music playing]
[Bambi] One day,
I'll make my own decisions.
That's what Mom says.
She can really do anything.
She would even let me go on my own.
But even if I could,
I would still stay with my mother.
[dog barking]
Come on, stop playing.
Call to her. Tell her, "I'm here, Mom!"
Hey, get back here! Where are you going?
Get back here! Hey!
We still have to find your mother.
[dog barking in distance]
Where are you?
[tense music playing]
Are you in there?
Where did you go?
[tense music continuing]
[indistinct whispering in distance]
[couple laughing]
[woman] Hey! What are you doing?
Why are you watching us?
No, excuse me. I'm looking for my dog.
What dog? Are you stupid?
You get lost!
I'm so sorry! I really didn't mean
[woman] Get out of here! Now!
[man] It's cool.
Chill out. What's the big deal?
[woman] I don't know. I was scared.
I have been super anxious
since I heard about the hotel killer.
[man] Hotel killer?
[woman] You didn't hear?
He slashed up a doctor with a box cutter!
[man] Whoa.
[woman] And a hotel manager before that.
They're calling him the Snipper.
[man] All right, enough.
[delicate, unnerving music playing]
[woman] He slashed up a doctor
with a box cutter!
And a hotel manager before that.
[music trails off]
Bambi? You all right?
Baby, is something wrong?
What happened? Did someone hurt you?
You can say it. Now, come on.
The puppy and his mother
had me chasing after them,
and I'm just out of breath.
I can feel my heart racing!
Baby.
No.
Can we go back to the room, please?
I'm so thirsty.
[foreboding music playing]
Bambi.
Oh my goodness.
I'm still so thirsty.
I really must have
over-worked myself, right?
He was so excited to see his mother.
She was in the tunnels.
Gosh, my mouth is dry.
I'm gonna drink some more.
I'm so sorry! It was an accident!
Baby, stop.
I want you to tell me
what happened to you.
I want you to look into my eyes.
Uh, well Um, nothing happened, Mommy.
No one did anything to me.
[foreboding music continuing]
I'll go get changed.
[unzips bag]
[shower running]
[Bambi] Mother
I remember our Bambi Promise now.
[mother] I am the only one
who can make you cry.
And only you can make me cry.
That's why I'll never be far.
Mommy's here.
To punish anyone
who hurts you or upsets you.
[foreboding music continuing]
[music trails off]
I can't answer
a hard question right now, okay?
This really isn't the time.
It was because of me.
I'm the reason.
[door opens]
[door closes]
[mother] Bambi, wait!
Wait for me, please!
Bambi, please listen.
We're not running from anyone.
I know that now.
Your parents are dead and gone.
Nobody is chasing us anymore.
Baby, hear me out.
I know who we're truly running from.
The manager and the doctor,
I know what happened to them!
You did it because of me.
- I'm the reason.
- Hush.
I did not hurt anyone
that didn't deserve it.
Don't blame yourself.
- Please, I that you want to walk away now.
- Mom.
- The first time you've seen me like this.
- I get it.
Once again, that poor girl is crying
because of her negligent
and careless mother.
Yeah, you're right.
That gorgeous girl is
getting neglected by her mother.
Look at that! You can talk!
Mommy Dearest speaks!
How about you leave us alone,
and go enjoy your success?
- Let's go, baby.
- What are you saying?
Is she that stupid, baby? Huh?
Look, I I like you ladies a whole bunch,
and I thought
you both were different, you know, so
- Well
- You're a complete moron.
We can't stand the sight of you.
Take a hint.
You are such a monster!
[sobbing]
No one's said anything like that
to me my whole life!
Hey, what's happening?
What's happening, honey?
She insulted me.
I thought they seemed so lonely,
so I was trying to be nice to her!
Only 'cause I had sympathy for them!
But you're insane.
You're a psychopath pestering strangers
and pretending to be sympathetic.
Who are you to call my wife
a psychopath, you lunatic?
- What's your deal?
- She's a psychopath.
Which you'd realize
if you weren't so dumb.
Sir. There's a quarrel out on the bridge.
[overlapping argumentative chatter]
[phone ringing]
[officer] Something happening
on the bridge.
- [husband] You don't know who I am.
- Everyone does. You're total trash.
- I'm this close to hurting this stuck-up
- Honey, clearly she's mental! Calm down.
Honey, please relax.
- [man] Sir, please.
- Calm down, honey.
Sir, calm down.
- And ma'am
- That's enough!
What is it you want from us?
What do you want?
Hey, Bambi!
I wish that I had your box cutter.
- I would have
- Stop being ridiculous and pack.
We need to leave the hotel, now.
What happened with the Creature?
Not a good time to be asking questions.
Mom, what's going on?
[suspenseful music playing]
PRIVATE SECURITY
Taxi
I'm off, ma'am. Sorry.
Could you take us to the station, please?
And hurry, our bus leaves in 15.
They're not in their room, sir.
- You checked the lobby or dining room?
- We looked everywhere. They're nowhere.
[suspenseful music continuing]
[phone ringing]
[driver] Talk to me.
[man] Don't give anything away.
Are the mother and daughter in the car?
The cops are asking.
[driver] Uh, okay. Whatever you say.
Yeah, okay, no problem.
I'll drop the passengers off
at the bus station
and get back to the stand.
I'd like to get out.
Pull over. We'll get out here.
I'm sorry, miss?
I said let us out.
I will pay the whole fare.
[driver] But we're not at the station.
How many times
do I have to tell you to stop?
- Come with me.
- [driver] Hey, easy on the door!
This way.
- [driver 2] Where to, ma'am?
- [mother] Just keep driving.
I'll tell you when we get there.
Okay, finally.
Now you can ask me whatever you want to.
[Bambi] Why did we have to run
all of a sudden, Mom?
Because of that old man at the hotel
who was on the phone constantly.
And, well, that cab driver's
phone conversation was unsettling.
SECURITY
Thank you, ma'am. You can come through.
Tell me the truth. What happened
with the Hollywood Creature?
That goddamn Hollywood Creature!
This is all her fault.
[security checkpoint beeping]
[guard] Excuse me, excuse me.
Ma'am, please take your belt off
and walk through one more time.
Follow me. We need to buy tickets.
Come on.
[guard] That's right,
everything out of your pockets.
Okay, just your belt
We're right next to the station.
Yeah, we're already on site.
Okay. Okay, got it.
The hotel called. The mother and daughter
are headed to the bus station in a cab.
Then, get up.
- [man 1] Where's the exit?
- [man 2] We need to go that way.
[suspenseful music playing]
- Are you going to answer my question, now?
- Yes, baby.
No harm came to
that Hollywood Creature or her husband.
So, the only reason we're running
is because some old guy talks too much?
That old guy was
the security at the hotel.
I bet he's an ex-cop.
I can feel it. Can you?
A storm is brewing.
Come with me.
- [man 1] I guess they bolted from the cab.
- [man 2] Well, now what do we do?
[man 1] Just keep your eyes open.
[man 2] I don't get it.
One minute we're in a bus station
Mom, what's wrong?
Those two guys
- [Bambi] What about them?
- They look like cops.
How do you know?
It's obvious.
- I can tell a cop from a mile away.
- Let's go. We'll tell the local police.
They really are police, huh?
Mommy has saved us
from a lot of trouble like this, baby.
I bet the old guy at the hotel
alerted them.
Then they asked the cab driver
where we were going.
- Then we probably should get going.
- We'll leave the country.
We got to get out of here
as soon as we can.
If you say so
- Let's go buy our tickets then, huh?
- Okay.
Is something on your mind?
Yup.
Teach me, Mother.
Huh?
You can smell trouble in the air.
I want to know how to avoid it.
How do you recognize an undercover?
I want to learn all of it.
Why's that?
Because I would also like
to punish anyone who hurts us.
You really like it?
You have no idea.
All right then.
I want you to remember this, though.
If you feel like
you're ready to fight a monster,
then you're ready to become one, too.
[mysterious music playing]
[dark, intense outro music playing]
