Alaska Haunting (2015) s01e04 Episode Script

North Pole Nightmare

Narrator: THE INTERIOR OF ALASKA OF IS ONE OF THE WORLD'S LAST GREAT WILDERNESSES.
PEOPLE COME HERE LOOKING FOR PEACE, BUT SOME THINGS NEVER REST.
A FAMILY BUYS A NEW HOUSE AND SOON DISCOVERS THEY'RE NOT ALONE.
HELLO? ANYBODY HERE? I WAS SCARED BEING IN THE HOUSE.
[ SCREAMS .]
Narrator: A SPINE-CHILLING SPIRIT Woman: SOMEBODY TOOK THEIR HAND AND JUST SHOVES MY SHOULDER.
Narrator: WITH AN UNEXPECTED MESSAGE WE'RE A NORMAL FAMILY.
LIKE, WHY IS THIS HAPPENING TO US? Narrator: IN A LAND AS REMOTE AS ALASKA, WHEN A DOOR TO ANOTHER WORLD IS OPENED, WILL ANYONE HEAR YOU SCREAM? [ WOMAN GASPS, SCREAMS .]
[ THEME MUSIC PLAYING .]
-- Captions by VITAC -- CAPTIONS PAID FOR BY DISCOVERY COMMUNICATIONS Narrator: TO MOST PEOPLE, THE ALASKAN TOWN OF NORTH POLE IS A WINTER WONDERLAND.
AFTER ALL, THIS IS A PLACE WHERE EVERY DAY IS CHRISTMAS.
Woman: NORTH POLE IS THIS SMALL COMMUNITY.
EVERYBODY KNOWS EVERYBODY.
SANTA CLAUS LIVES IN NORTH POLE.
DRIVING DOWN THE STREETS, THERE'S CANDY CANE LIGHT POLES.
YOU GOTTA HAVE CHRISTMAS TREES OUT WHENEVER IT'S DARK.
IT'S JUST A REALLY AWESOME PLACE.
Narrator: IN 2009, THE FOWLER FAMILY ARE EXCITED TO MOVE INTO A NEW HOME ON THE OUTSKIRTS OF NORTH POLE.
HEY, GUYS.
HI! HI THERE.
YOU GETTIN' UNPACKED? YEAH.
GOT LOTS AND LOTS OF STUFF.
Narrator: LAURIE AND HER HUSBAND, KEITH, ARE GENUINE ALASKANS.
THEY MET IN HIGH SCHOOL AND HAVE LIVED IN THE AREA EVER SINCE.
IT'S GOOD TO BE BACK.
GOD, IT'S SO NICE OUT.
THE SUN ON THE SNOW I KNOW.
IT'S SO PRETTY.
MY HUSBAND AND I DECIDED THAT WE WERE REALLY OUTGROWING THE SMALLER HOUSE THAT WE WERE IN.
IT WAS IMPORTANT FOR US TO KEEP OUR KIDS IN THE SAME SCHOOLS.
WE STARTED LOOKING IN NORTH POLE.
THE HOUSE WAS ACTUALLY A DREAM HOME TO ME: THE SIZE, THE LOOK SO WHEN I WALKED IN, I KNEW IMMEDIATELY.
I SAID, "WE'RE MAKING AN OFFER RIGHT NOW.
" MEGHAN? YEAH? DO YOU LIKE IT HERE? I DO! I DO.
IT'S HOMEY, FEELS NICE.
THIS IS GONNA BE PERFEC FOR US, RIGHT? NEW BEGINNINGS IT IS.
NEW PLACE, NEW FRIENDS IT'S GONNA BE SO FUN.
I'M GONNA GO UNPACK MY ROOM.
BYE! Narrator: MEGHAN IS KEITH'S AND LAURIE'S TEENAGE DAUGHTER.
Laurie: MEGHAN IS COMPLETELY OUTGOING, BALL OF ENERGY, BRINGS A SMILE TO EVERYBODY'S FACE.
SHE'S AWESOME.
Meghan: FROM THE FIRST DAY WE MOVED IN, I REMEMBER TALKING AND THE HOUSE ECHOED BECAUSE IT WAS SO MUCH BIGGER.
AND I JUST LOVED THAT FEELING.
I DIDN'T HAVE A LOT OF STUFF TO DECORATE THE ROOM WITH, BUT IT WAS NICE JUST BEING ABLE TO PUT ANYTHING WHEREVER I WANTED.
Narrator: ONE OF THE POSSESSIONS MEGHAN IS MOST ATTACHED TO IS A GUITAR GIVEN TO HER BY HER UNCLE.
I SET IT OVER BY MY CLOSE WHERE I HAD, LIKE, MY AMP AND STUFF JUST TO GET IT OUT OF THE WAY.
IT FELT LIKE JUST A COMPLETELY NEW SLATE, AND WE WERE GONNA HAVE A BETTER LIFE NOW.
BEING IN THE BIGGER HOUSE.
Narrator: AS WINTER APPROACHES, NORTH POLE IS BLANKETED WITH SNOW AND THE FOWLER FAMILY FALLS BACK INTO THEIR OLD ROUTINE.
KEITH HEADS 200 MILES OUT OF TOWN TO WORK AT A GOLD MINE FOR 2 WEEKS, LEAVING MEGHAN AND LAURIE IN THE HOUSE ALONE.
IT CAN BE DIFFICUL WHEN HE'S GONE, HAVING TO TAKE CARE OF THE HOUSE MYSELF.
THE WINTERS IN ALASKA CAN BE REALLY ROUGH.
YOU LOOK AT 6 MONTHS, BASICALLY WHAT FEELS LIKE DARKNESS.
THERE'S NOT REALLY ANY GOING OUTSIDE.
Narrator: ONE NIGHT NOT LONG AFTER KEITH'S DEPARTURE, LAURIE IS ALONE IN BED.
Laurie: I WOULD BE SLEEPING IN MY ROOM AND WOULD HEAR FOOTSTEPS ACROSS THE FLOOR, UH, HARDWOOD FLOOR TOWARDS MY BED, THE FLOOR CRACKING AS IT'S WALKING [ ECHOING THUDS .]
[ HEART BEATING .]
[ CREAKING .]
HELLO? ANYBODY HERE? Laurie: IT WAS A NEW HOUSE AND THERE WERE NEW NOISES WHEN YOU MOVE INTO A NEW PLACE.
MEGHAN? MEGHAN! Laurie: SO, I WOULD JUST CHALK IT UP TO THE FACT THA IT'S MAKING DIFFERENT NOISES THAT I'M NOT USED TO.
Narrator: THE EERIE WAKE-UP CALL IS NOT AN ISOLATED INCIDENT, AND UNEXPLAINED NOISES CONTINUE TO PLAGUE LAURIE IN THE MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT.
[ HEAVY BREATHING .]
IT WAS ALMOST AS IF SOMEONE WAS BREATHING IN MY EAR.
IT'S ALMOST THE SOUND OF A BABY THAT HAS CROUP, THE SOUND WHEN -- WHEN THEY BREATHE OU THROUGH THEIR MOUTH.
I OPEN MY EYES AND THERE WAS NOTHING.
ANY TIME SOMETHING WAKES YOU UP BECAUSE YOU HEAR SOMEBODY IN THE ROOM AND YOU OPEN YOUR EYES AND THERE'S NOBODY THERE, IT'S KINDA CREEPY.
AND I CAN'T EXPLAIN IT, BUT IT WAS VERY EERIE-FEELING IN THAT BEDROOM.
Narrator: A FEW DAYS LATER, KEITH IS FINALLY HOME.
FOR LAURIE AND MEGHAN, IT FEELS A LOT LONGER THAN 2 WEEKS SINCE HE LEFT.
BROUGHT THE SALAD PLATES.
THANK YOU.
YOU CAN'T FORGET YOUR SALAD.
Meghan: WHEN MY DAD'S AROUND, HAVING THE MAN IN THE HOUSE, DEFINITELY YOU FEEL SAFER.
SO, WHEN DO YOU HAVE TO GO AGAIN? TWO WEEKS, SO I'VE GOT 2 WEEKS OFF TO JUST SIT AT HOME.
SO WE HAVE 2 WEEKS' VACATION.
YEAH, SORT OF.
[Laughs.]
Narrator: LATER THAT DAY, LAURIE GOES OUT, LEAVING KEITH AND MEGHAN AT HOME.
[ MUSIC BLARING FROM HEADPHONES .]
Meghan: I WAS JUST SITTING IN MY BEDROOM AND I HEARD THREE DISTINC KNOCKS ON MY DOOR.
[ THREE KNOCKS .]
Meghan: SO I GOT UP, THINKING THAT MY DAD WAS KNOCKING BECAUSE HE WAS THE ONLY ONE HOME.
AND THERE WAS NO ONE THERE.
SO I WENT BACK IN MY ROOM -- [ KNOCKING .]
AND I HEARD ANOTHER KNOCK.
SO I GOT UP, GETTING KIND OF ANNOYED, LIKE, SOMEONE'S MESSING WITH ME.
NO ONE WAS THERE AGAIN.
AS SOON AS I SAT DOWN [ SCRATCHING .]
IT SOUNDED AS IF SOMEBODY REACHED TO THE TOP OF MY DOOR AND JUST COMPLETELY SCRATCHED ALL THE WAY DOWN IT WITH THEIR HAND.
I FIGURED IT WAS MY DAD 'CAUSE I WAS LIKE, "WHO ELSE WOULD BE DOING THIS?" WENT BACK OUT AND I WAS, LIKE, "THIS IS SO WEIRD, LIKE, THERE'S SOMEONE KNOCKING ON MY DOOR AND THERE'S ABSOLUTELY NO ONE THERE.
" SO I WALKED IN THE LIVING ROOM AND ASKED MY DAD IF HE HAD KNOCKED.
HEY, DAD? YEAH? DID YOU KNOCK ON MY DOOR? NO.
HMM.
YOU OKAY? YEAH, I JUST -- I THOUGHT I HEARD SOMETHING.
IT'S PROBABLY NOTHING.
YEAH, I DIDN' HEAR ANYTHING.
Narrator: A FEW WEEKS LATER, KEITH IS 200 MILES AWAY, BACK AT THE MINE.
Meghan: I THINK THAT HIM BEING GONE DEFINITELY AFFECTED THE, LIKE, WHAT HE THOUGHT ABOUT I BECAUSE MOST STUFF DID HAPPEN WHEN HE WAS GONE.
AND WHEN HE WAS THERE, IT WAS MOSTLY LITTLE STUFF THAT HE COULD EASILY BLOW OFF.
Narrator: WITH HER HUSBAND OUT OF THE HOUSE, LAURIE IS LEF TO FACE HER NIGHT TERRORS ALONE.
[ STATIC, MUFFLED BROADCAST .]
Laurie: I WOULD BE SLEEPING IN MY ROOM AND WOULD HEAR KIND OF A HUM, STATIC.
IT WASN'T A RADIO STATION, JUST, LIKE, I DON'T KNOW, WHAT THEY CALL WHITE NOISE OR BUZZING.
YOU KNOW, JUST A CONSTANT NOISE.
WE HAD ANOTHER CLOSE THAT WASN'T BEING USED.
I TOOK THE ALARM CLOCK OUT OF THE CLOSET, FLIPPED IT OVER TO TAKE THE BATTERIES OU AND THERE WERE NO BATTERIES IN IT.
WHY IT JUST STARTED GOING OFF BY ITSELF I DON'T KNOW, BUT IT DID.
IN MY MIND, TRIED TO EXPLAIN HOW THIS COULD HAPPEN.
THAT WAS ONE OF THE POINTS THAT WAS SCARED BEING IN THE HOUSE.
Narrator: AS THE ALASKAN WINTER SETS IN, IT BECOMES INCREASINGLY DIFFICUL FOR LAURIE AND MEGHAN TO DISMISS WHAT'S GOING ON IN THE HOUSE.
Meghan: IN THE BEGINNING, EVERYTHING THAT HAPPENED, WE WOULD DEFINITELY TRY TO MAKE AN EXCUSE OR DEBUNK IT AND PUT IT OFF BECAUSE WE OBVIOUSLY DIDN'T WANT TO BELIEVE OUR HOUSE WAS HAUNTED.
IT WAS HARD 'CAUSE I DIDN'T WAN THE NEW HOUSE TO BE LIKE THAT.
I WAS SITTING ON THE COUCH BY MYSELF IN THE LIVING ROOM.
OUT OF THE CORNER OF MY EYE, I SAW SOMETHING WALK BY.
[ SCREAMS .]
Narrator: NORTH POLE, ALASKA IS THE PLACE WHERE, FAMOUSLY, IT'S CHRISTMAS EVERY DAY.
BUT MEGHAN FOWLER IS FEELING FAR FROM FESTIVE, AS HER NEW HOME LEAVES HER WITH AN UNEXPLAINED ANXIETY.
[ SCREAMING .]
IT WAS A BODY.
I COULD TELL, LIKE, THERE WAS NO WAY I COULD HAVE BEEN ANYTHING ELSE.
MOM! MEGHAN, MEGHAN, MEGHAN.
WHAT'S WRONG? THERE'S SOMEONE IN OUR KITCHEN? I JUST SAW HIM! I SAW HIS REFLECTION! WHAT DID YOU SEE? I DON'T KNOW.
HE JUST WAS STANDING THERE.
Laurie: MEGHAN TOLD ME THAT SHE WAS SITTING IN THE LIVING ROOM, AND SHE SAW THE FIGURE, A BLACK-OUTLINE FIGURE OF A MAN WALK ACROSS THE DINING ROOM INTO THE KITCHEN.
[ SCREAMING .]
Meghan: WHEN WE FIRST HEARD IT, THE SCREAM WAS MORE HIGH-PITCHED, AND IT JUST SOUNDED LIKE A GIRL THAT WAS JUST IN COMPLETE TERROR, SCREAMING AT SOMETHING.
THERE'S SOMEONE IN THE HOUSE.
ME AND MY MOM BOTH LOOKED AT EACH OTHER LIKE, "YOU HEARD THAT, RIGHT?" AND SHE WAS LIKE, "YEAH, I HEARD THAT.
" AND THEN WE GOT UP REALLY FAST THINKING THA SOMEONE WAS IN THE HOUSE.
Narrator: BUT WHEN MOTHER AND DAUGHTER LOOK AROUND, NO ONE IS THERE.
WITH HER HUSBAND KEITH 200 MILES AWAY AT THE GOLD MINE, LAURIE IS FORCED INTO A PHONE CALL TO TELL HIM WHAT'S BEEN GOING ON.
Laurie: LISTEN TO ME.
LISTEN, OKAY? THE OTHER DAY, MEGHAN WAS DOWNSTAIRS SCREAMING HER HEAD OFF.
I GO IN THERE.
I CAN'T SEE ANYTHING.
I CAN'T HEAR ANYTHING, AND ALL OF A SUDDEN, I HEAR A SCREAM.
SO, I KNOW SHE'S NOT JUS IMAGINING THINGS.
Narrator: BUT KEITH ISN'T CONVINCED.
I DON'T KNOW WHAT I NEED TO DO TO TELL YOU HOW SERIOUS IT IS, THAT THINGS ARE REALLY GOING ON HERE.
AND I FEEL LIKE WE'RE GOING CRAZY, BUT I KNOW WE'RE NO GOING CRAZY 'CAUSE EVERYTHING IS REALLY HAPPENING.
Meghan: WE WOULD TELL DAD PRETTY MUCH EVERYTHING THAT HAPPENED.
AND HE WOULD DEFINITELY LISTEN TO US TALK ABOUT IT, BUT HE DIDN'T WAN TO BELIEVE IT.
Narrator: LAURIE IS FAR FROM REASSURED.
BUT WITH KEITH OUT OF THE PICTURE, SHE HAS LITTLE OPTION OTHER THAN CARRYING ON WITH HER REGULAR ROUTINE.
Laurie: I WAS IN THE BEDROOM ALONE.
MOMMY? Laurie: AND THEN FROM THE FOOT-END OF THE BED, I HEARD A VOICE, AND IT SAID, "MOMMY?" I WAITED A FEW MINUTES LONGER, MAYBE 10 SECONDS.
MOMMY? I HEARD IT AGAIN.
WHEN I REALIZED THAT NOBODY WAS IN THERE WITH ME, MY JAW JUST DROPPED.
THERE WAS A POIN WHERE YOU CAN EXPLAIN THINGS, WHETHER, YOU KNOW, IT JUST BE THE WEATHER, THE HOUSE SETTLING, THE SNOW ON THE ROOF OR WHATNOT.
AND THEN THERE BECOMES A POIN WHERE YOU REALIZE THAT UNEXPLAINABLE THINGS ARE HAPPENING AND THERE'S NO OTHER EXPLANATION AS TO WHAT IT COULD BE.
Narrator: BY THE TIME KEITH RETURNS HOME, LAURIE AND MEGHAN ARE ADAMAN THAT SOMEONE OR SOMETHING IS IN THE HOUSE.
LISTEN, THERE'S REALLY SOMETHING STRANGE IN THIS HOUSE.
I -- I'M NOT SAYING IT'S NOT WEIRD, YOU KNOW? BUT UNTIL I SEE SOMETHING, THERE'S -- WHAT CAN I DO? Laurie: IT ALMOST SEEMED AS IF THE ACTIVITY IN THE HOUSE WOULD PICK UP WHEN KEITH WASN'T AROUND BECAUSE WHEN HE WAS AROUND, WE WOULDN'T EXPERIENCE IT AS OFTEN.
I PROMISE, IT DOESN'T SEEM TO HAPPEN WHEN YOU'RE AROUND.
SO LET'S HOPE IN THE NEX 2 WEEKS SOMETHING DOES.
Narrator: IN WINTER, TEMPERATURES IN NORTH POLE OFTEN DIP AS LOW AS MINUS 17 DEGREES FAHRENHEIT, AND INSIDE THE FOWLER HOME, THE ATMOSPHERE IS BECOMING EQUALLY HOSTILE.
ONE NIGHT, MEGHAN IS IN THE HOUSE READING.
RECENT EVENTS HAVE TAKEN A TOLL ON THE NORMALLY UPBEA TEENAGE GIRL.
DEFINITELY BEING ALONE IN CERTAIN PARTS OF THE HOUSE WAS REALLY SCARY.
THAT'S WHEN, LIKE, YOU'RE MOST VULNERABLE.
YOU DON'T HAVE ANYONE TO COMFORT YOU.
IT'S JUST YOU -- AND THAT DEFINITELY MADE EVERYONE FEEL ON-EDGE ALL THE TIME.
I JUST FELT THIS OVERWHELMING PRESENCE AROUND ME.
IT WAS LIKE SOMEONE WAS STANDING IN THE ROOM WITH ME.
AND I STARTED GETTING THIS OVERWHELMING SADNESS JUST COME OUT OF NOWHERE.
IT WAS LIKE SOMEONE CLOSE TO ME HAD DIED.
IT WAS LIKE TIME FROZE FOR A SECOND.
AND THEN, JUST LIKE THAT, IT JUST STOPPED AND THEN EVERYTHING WENT BACK TO NORMAL.
AFTER IT HAPPENED AND THEN THE FEELING WENT AWAY, I WAS A LITTLE BIT FREAKED OUT.
AND I WENT TO WALK DOWN THE HALLWAY TO GO GET SOMETHING OUT OF THE KITCHEN.
I JUST FELT IT WAS LIKE SOMEBODY TOOK THEIR HAND AND JUST SHOVED MY SHOULDER.
Narrator: LAURIE AND KEITH FOWLER BOUGHT THEIR NEW HOUSE LOOKING FOR PEACE AND QUIET, BUT THAT CALM IS SHATTERED WHEN THEIR TEENAGE DAUGHTER, MEGHAN, IS STALKED BY AN UNEXPLAINED ENTITY.
Meghan: I COULD FEEL THE DISTINCT PRESSURE THAT YOU WOULD GE IF ANYBODY JUST PUSHED YOU WHILE YOU WERE WALKING, BUT THERE WAS NO ONE THERE.
I WAS DEFINITELY FREAKED OU BECAUSE I HAD JUS BEEN TOUCHED BY NOTHING.
AND THAT'S THE FIRST TIME I EVER REALLY SAID TO MYSELF AND ADMITTED THAT THERE WAS A SPIRIT IN THE HOUSE.
LIKE, SOMETHING HAD TO BE THERE.
Narrator: MEGHAN'S MOM, LAURIE, IS SHAKEN BY HER DAUGHTER'S EXPERIENCE, AND SHE VOWS TO PROTECT HER AT ALL COSTS.
IT WAS STARTING TO GET ME REALLY WORRIED, REALLY CONCERNED.
Meghan: MY MOM, SHE'S VERY TOUGH, STRONG WOMAN.
I LOOK UP TO HER A LO BECAUSE SHE'S A GOOD PERSON TO GO TO IF YOU NEED ADVICE, IF YOU'RE HAVING PROBLEMS BECAUSE SHE'LL ALWAYS BE THERE FOR YOU.
Narrator: BUT MEGHAN'S DAD, KEITH, HOME FROM HIS TWO-WEEK JOB AT THE MINE, REMAINS UNCONVINCED.
I REALLY NEED YOU TO HEAR MEGHAN AND I OUT.
WE'VE BEEN TRYING REALLY, REALLY HARD TO GET THROUGH TO YOU.
Laurie: HE DIDN'T TALK A LO ABOUT THINGS THAT WENT ON IN THE HOUSE.
HE JUST KINDA KEPT I TO HIMSELF.
THIS IS NOT SOMETHING THAT HAPPENS EVERY DAY TO ANY PERSON, LIKE, ANY FAMILY.
IT'S JUST NOT THE NATURAL THING, OBVIOUSLY.
WE'RE A NORMAL FAMILY.
LIKE, WHY IS THIS HAPPENING TO US? THIS IS OUR HOUSE SO I'M GONNA TAKE CARE OF US.
NOTHING BAD IS GONNA HAPPEN HERE, I PROMISE.
Narrator: A FEW DAYS LATER, TO LIGHTEN THE MOOD IN THE HOUSE, LAURIE SUGGESTS THE FAMILY TAKE A TRIP TO THE NEARBY TOWN OF FAIRBANKS.
Laurie: IT WAS A WEEKEND, AND WE WERE ALL GONNA GE OUT OF THE HOUSE TOGETHER AND GO INTO TOWN AND DO SOMETHING FUN.
Narrator: BUT LAURIE HAS ONE CONDITION FOR HER DAUGHTER.
Meghan: SHE TOLD ME THAT SHE'D TAKE US, BUT I HAD TO CLEAN MY ROOM SPOTLESS 'CAUSE IT WAS A MESS.
I INSPECTED ROOMS BEFORE WE LEFT, CHECKED MEGHAN'S ROOM.
IT WAS COMPLETELY SPOTLESS.
Narrator: A FEW HOURS LATER, THE FOWLER FAMILY RETURNS TO THE HOUSE.
I WENT TO PUT MY BAGS IN MY ROOMS, AND I OPENED THE DOOR.
AND RIGHT AWAY I LOOKED DOWN, AND I NOTICED RANDOM PIECES OF CLOTHING LAYING IN FRONT OF ME.
AND I WAS LIKE, "WHAT THE HECK?" TOTAL DISBELIEF WENT THROUGH MY MIND.
I KNEW I HAD CLEANED IT, AND I WAS LIKE, "DID I LEAVE THAT ON THE GROUND?" LIKE, DID I LEAVE THOSE THINGS? THE CLOTHES WERE JUST THROWN EVERYWHERE, LIKE, ON TOP OF MY DESK, ON MY BED, UNDER THINGS IT WAS JUST RIDICULOUS.
MOM? I DON'T KNOW WHAT HAPPENED.
EVERYBODY HAD BEEN OUT OF THE HOUSE.
DID SOMEONE BREAK IN? WHAT? DID YOU DO THIS? NO, I DIDN'T! I CLEANED IT BEFORE I LEFT.
NOBODY HAD BEEN THERE, NOBODY HAD ACCESS TO COME INTO THE HOUSE.
Meghan: MY PARENTS, THEY LOOKED ALL AROUND.
THEY CHECKED IN EVERY BEDROOM.
EVERY DOOR WAS STILL LOCKED.
THERE WAS NO SIGNS OF ANYONE BREAKING INTO THE HOUSE.
Narrator: FOR MEGHAN, THE LATEST EPISODE CONFIRMS A DISTURBING PATTERN.
Meghan: EVER SINCE THE INCIDEN WHERE MY BEDROOM GOT DESTROYED, IT SEEMED LIKE EVERYTHING HAD BEEN HAPPENING TO ME.
IT WAS FIGURING THAT WHATEVER IT WAS, IT WAS CENTERING ITS ATTENTION ON ME.
Narrator: LAURIE IS NOW DEEPLY CONCERNED FOR THE WELFARE OF HER DAUGHTER.
Laurie: AT THIS POINT, IT WAS BECOMING MORE AND MORE APPAREN THE, UH, FOCUS WAS ON MEGHAN.
I STARTED GETTING REALLY WORRIED ABOUT THE THINGS THAT SHE WAS EXPERIENCING.
THAT WAS MY TURNING POINT FOR, "OKAY, NOW WE HAVE TO DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT.
" Narrator: BUT LAURIE LIVES IN AMERICA'S LAST GREAT WILDERNESS.
SO WITH HER HUSBAND AWAY AND NO ONE ELSE TO TURN TO FOR HELP, SHE POSTS A MESSAGE ON THE INTERNET.
Laurie: SOCIAL MEDIA IS A BIG THING UP HERE TO KEEP IN CONTAC WITH FRIENDS AND LOVED ONES.
WITH MY HUSBAND GONE A LOT, I WOULD TEND TO POST WHEN I WAS FREAKED OUT ABOUT SOMETHING, OR SAY, "OH, MY GOSH, THIS JUST HAPPENED IN MY HOUSE.
" ONE OF MY MOM'S POSTS, SOMEBODY ELSE SAW IT AND ENDED UP REACHING OUT TO HER.
SHE SAYS, "DO YOU GUYS NOT KNOW WHAT HAPPENED IN YOUR HOME?" MY MOM SAID, "NO, WHAT HAPPENED IN OUR HOUSE?" Narrator: THE STATE OF ALASKA ENCOMPASSES SOME OF THE MOS HOSTILE SURROUNDINGS IN THE UNITED STATES.
BUT NONE ARE AS INTIMIDATING AS THE MALEVOLENT FORCE TARGETING THE FOWLER FAMILY, AND IN PARTICULAR, MEGHAN FOWLER.
Meghan: ONE OF MY MOM'S POSTS, SOMEBODY ELSE SAW IT AND ENDED UP REACHING OUT TO HER.
AND SHE THEN INFORMED US THAT THERE HAD BEEN A DEATH IN THE HOUSE.
Narrator: ROCKED BY THE NEWS, THE FOWLERS START TO WONDER WHAT HAPPENED IN THEIR HOME.
AND COULD IT BE LINKED TO WHATEVER IS ZONING IN ON MEGHAN? Laurie: I THINK THAT IN TALKING TO THE NEIGHBOR AND FINDING OUT WHAT OCCURRED IN THE HOUSE, AT THAT POINT, I THINK THAT'S WHEN I REALIZED I NEED SOME ANSWERS.
Narrator: IN MARCH 2013, ON THE ADVICE OF A FRIEND, LAURIE INVITES A TEAM FROM SOPAH, SEEKERS OF PARANORMAL AND HISTORY, TO HER HOUSE.
HEY, GUYS.
COME ON IN.
YES, THANK YOU.
WHEN I FIRST MET LAURIE, SHE SEEMED CONCERNED ABOU WHAT WAS GOING ON IN THE HOME.
WE REALLY NEED TO FIND OU WHAT'S GOING ON.
I KNOW SHE WAS WORRIED FOR MEGHAN.
SHE DIDN'T LIKE THE FACT THAT I HAD STARTED MESSING WITH MEGHAN.
SO SHE WAS COMING ACROSS MORE AS A MOTHER SAYING, YOU KNOW, "THIS THING IS MESSING WITH DAUGHTER NOW" "I JUST AM NOT GONNA HAVE IT.
" SO, YOU CALLED AND SAID YOU'VE HAD SOME ACTIVITY GOING ON IN THE HOUSE.
CAN YOU TELL US ABOUT THAT? I CAME HOME THE OTHER DAY AND MY ROOM WAS JUST TRASHED.
UM, ALL MY STUFF WAS THROWN ALL OVER THE PLACE, UM, AND I DON'T -- I DON'T KNOW WHAT HAPPENED.
IT'S REALLY, REALLY FREAKY HERE, AND I REALLY, REALLY NEED YOU TO FIGURE OUT WHAT'S GOING ON.
OH, WE UNDERSTAND.
THAT MUST BE VERY, VERY SCARY FOR YOU.
Narrator: AFTER SPEAKING TO THE FAMILY, THE GHOST HUNTERS SET UP THEIR EQUIPMENT.
LEADING THE INVESTIGATION OF THE HOUSE IS PARANORMAL INVESTIGATOR MIKE NUNEZ.
WHEN IT COMES TO THE PARANORMAL, ALASKA IS VERY UNIQUE.
WITH THE SETTLING OF ANY NEW TERRITORY, THERE'S BOUND TO BE DEATH.
AND WITH ALASKA BEING SO ROUGH OF A COUNTRY, SETTLERS DIED OF ILLNESS, OF ACCIDENTS AND, UH, FROM THE WILDLIFE.
WHEREVER VIOLENCE TAKES PLACE, IT LEAVES BEHIND JUS A NEGATIVE ENERGY.
SO DEFINITELY I BELIEVE THAT ALASKA'S VIOLENT HISTORY AND PAST PLAYS INTO THE AMOUN OF PARANORMAL ACTIVITY THAT WE HAVE UP HERE.
WE WERE TALKING TO THE FAMILY ABOUT DIFFERENT FEELINGS THEY HAD THROUGHOUT THE HOME.
ONE PLACE IN PARTICULAR THAT GO BROUGHT UP WAS THE KITCHEN.
[ WOMAN SCREAMING .]
I WALKED INTO THE KITCHEN, WAS APPROACHING THE KITCHEN SINK.
STARTED KINDA GETTING THE FEELING OF THE HAIR ON THE NECK STANDING UP.
.
HEART STARTED RACING FOR NO REASON, ALMOST LIKE AN ANXIETY, PANIC FEELING.
FELT LIKE A WEIGH WAS ALMOST WALKING UP TO ME.
I TURNED AROUND.
THERE WAS NOTHING THERE, AND IT JUST KINDA WENT BACK TO NORMAL, LIKE AS IF I WAS IN MY OWN LIVING ROOM OR MY OWN KITCHEN.
Narrator: IT'S A CREEPY EXPERIENCE BUT NOT THE CONFIRMATION MIKE IS LOOKING FOR.
SO NEXT, HE MOVES UPSTAIRS.
Nunez: THE OTHER PLACE IN THE HOME THAT THEY EXPRESSED A LO OF CONCERN WAS MEGHAN'S BEDROOM.
MY FIRST IMPRESSION UPON ENTERING MEGHAN'S ROOM WAS, "YEAH, I DON'T WANNA BE HERE.
" AND AS YOU WALKED THROUGH THE THRESHOLD OF THE DOOR, IT WAS A FEELING OF ALMOST PRESSURE, OF PUSHING YOU AWAY.
YOU DON'T WANT TO BE HERE.
THIS IS MINE.
YOU CAN'T BE HERE.
Narrator: MIKE STARTS TAKING TEMPERATURE READINGS WITH AN INFRARED THERMOMETER.
WHENEVER THERE IS A PARANORMAL MANIFESTATION, THAT TAKES ENERGY, USUALLY IN THE FORM OF HEAT.
IF A TEMPERATURE DROPS IN A ROOM, THAT COULD BE INDICATIVE OF PARANORMAL ACTIVITY.
Narrator: SURE ENOUGH, THE TEMPORARY READINGS ARE COLDER THAN THE RES OF THE HOUSE.
THERE IS A THEORY THAT PARANORMAL SPIRITS INTERAC WITH ELECTRIC FIELDS.
IT'S WHY PEOPLE SOMETIMES REPORT LIGHTS FLICKERING WHEN THEY SEE A GHOST.
SO NEXT, MIKE TAKES OU AN ELECTRICAL MEASURING DEVICE CALLED A K-2 METER.
ON THE TOP OF I THERE ARE A SERIES OF LIGHTS.
AS THE LEVEL OF ELECTROMAGNETIC FIELDS GOES UP, THE SERIES OF LIGHTS LIGHT UP, HENCE THE TERM "LIGHTING UP.
" WE STARTED TO NOTICE WE WERE GETTING SPIKES IN OUR K-2, AND WE COULDN'T FIGURE OUT WHY.
THERE WAS NOTHING ELECTRICAL AROUND US.
THERE WAS NO BAD WIRING AROUND US.
Narrator: THE READINGS SEEMED TO CONFIRM SOMETHING OTHERWORLDLY IN MEGHAN'S ROOM.
BUT WHERE IS IT HIDING? Nunez: AS WE GOT TO CLOSER TO THE ELECTRIC GUITAR, WE STARTED TO NOTICE CHANGES IN OUR EQUIPMENT.
THE FIRST THING THAT CAME INTO MIND IS, "IT'S AN ELECTRICAL OBJECT.
IT RUNS OFF OF ELECTRICITY.
" Narrator: THE GUITAR IS ONE OF MEGHAN'S CHERISHED POSSESSIONS, BUT IT'S SAT UNUSED IN THE HOUSE SINCE THE DAY THE FOWLERS MOVED IN.
IT WAS AT THIS POIN WHERE WE STARTED TO CONSIDER THAT THIS OBJECT MAY, IN FACT, BE A CHARGED OBJECT.
AND THIS BECAME KIND OF THE FOCAL POIN OF OUR INVESTIGATION.
Narrator: CHARGED OBJECTS ARE ENTITIES THAT HAVE A SUPERNATURAL FORCE ATTACHED TO THEM.
I HAD HEARD OF CHARGED OBJECTS BEFORE IN MY PAS BUT I HAD NEVER ACTUALLY WITNESSED ONE WITH MY OWN EYES, AND THERE WAS NO OTHER WAY TO EXPLAIN THAT.
WE COULD WALK AWAY FROM IT, GO BACK IN, AND THEY LIT OUR K-2 ALL THE WAY TO RED.
Narrator: THE READINGS SUGGES A PARANORMAL ENTITY IS ATTACHED TO MEGHAN'S GUITAR, BUT WHO IS IT? AND WHAT DOES IT WANT? Nunez: ONE OF THE TECHNIQUES THAT I AM RATHER FOND OF EMPLOYING ON INVESTIGATIONS IS I'LL BE AGGRESSIVE MYSELF.
I WILL KIND OF BE AN INSTIGATOR.
I WILL TRY TO CHALLENGE WHATEVER THE ENTITY IS TO SHOW ITSELF.
I KIND OF POSED THE QUESTION OF, "SHOULD WE PLAY THIS THING?" AND AT THAT POINT, WE DECIDED, "YEP, THAT'S EXACTLY WHAT WE'RE GONNA DO.
" DURING THIS POINT IN TIME, WE STARTED INSTIGATING, SAYING, "HEY, IF YOU WANT US TO STOP, MAKE A NOISE.
IF YOU DON'T WAN US TO STOP, MAKE A NOISE.
" WE DID NOTICE THAT WE WERE STARTING TO GET ONE OR TWO LITTLE SPIKES ON THE K-2.
Narrator: THE MORE MIKE PLAYS, THE HIGHER THE READINGS HE RECORDS ON HIS K-2 METER.
Nunez: WE NOTICED AS THE TENSION IN THE ROOM BEGAN TO BUILD, IT ALL KIND OF CLIMAXED.
WE HEARD A BANG OR SLAM COMING FROM THE WALL, WHICH SOUNDED A LO LIKE A PIECE OF FURNITURE BEING SLAMMED INTO THE WALL.
THERE WAS A BRIGHT FLASH OF LIGHT AND A SOUND AS IF THE LIGHT BULB HAD JUST BURNT OUT.
MY BODY REACTED AS IF IT WAS TENSING UP FOR SOMETHING TO HAPPEN THAT WASN'T NECESSARILY GOOD.
Narrator: PARANORMAL INVESTIGATORS IN NORTH POLE, ALASKA, HAVE PINPOINTED A GUITAR BELONGING TO MEGHAN FOWLER AS A POTENTIAL SOURCE OF ACTIVITY.
BUT JUST AS THEY MAKE THE DISCOVERY, THEY EXPERIENCE A SUDDEN SURGE IN ELECTRICITY.
THE INVESTIGATORS LEAVE THAT NIGHT CONVINCED THE GUITAR IS IMPORTANT, BUT WHY? THE NEXT DAY, THE SOPAH TEAM RETURNS TO LAURIE'S HOUSE ARMED WITH MORE INFORMATION.
AFTER THE INVESTIGATION, UH, THE TEAM DID ITS OWN RESEARCH AND THAT REVEALED THAT A -- A YOUNG TEENAGE BOY HAD LIVED IN THE HOME.
WE FOUND OUT THAT HE HAD KIND OF A ROUGH CHILDHOOD.
UM, THERE WAS HISTORY OF DEPRESSION.
THERE HAD BEEN FALLING OU WITH MEMBERS OF THE FAMILY, MOST IMPORTANTLY, A FALLING OUT WITH HIS SISTER.
Narrator: FROM STUDYING OLD ARCHIVES, THE TEAM REVEALS THAT IN 1997, 12 YEARS BEFORE THE FOWLER FAMILY MOVED IN, A FIGHT BROKE OU BETWEEN THE SIBLINGS, DURING WHICH THE BOY GRABBED A GUN.
Hodgman: IN ALASKA, IT IS A NECESSARY PART OF LIFE TO OWN A FIREARM.
I WOULD SAY A LARGE PERCENTAGE OF THE FAMILIES WHO LIVE HERE CARRY FIREARMS FOR HUNTING PURPOSES, UH, SUBSISTENCE -- A LOT OF PEOPLE RELY ON HUNTING.
Nunez: FIREARMS IN ALASKA HAVE ALWAYS BEEN A WAY OF LIFE.
WHEN ALASKA WAS SETTLED, YOU HAD A TO HAVE A FIREARM IF YOU WANTED TO SURVIVE.
Narrator: THEN THE BOY RAISES THE GUN TO HIS HEAD.
Hodgman: I DON'T THINK HE THOUGHT HE WAS GONNA DIE.
I DON'T THINK HE THOUGH IT WOULD BE SO FINAL.
HE JUST WANTED TO SCARE HIS SISTER.
[ GUNSHOT ECHOING .]
Narrator: LAURIE AND MEGHAN THINK BACK TO THE SCREAM THEY HEARD IN THE KITCHEN.
I'M SURE THAT WHEN THEY HEARD THE FEMALE SCREAM, IT WAS THE SISTER BECAUSE THAT MOMENT IN TIME WAS SO TRAUMATIC THAT IT'S IMPRINTED NOW AND KINDA LIKE A MOVIE, WILL REPLAY AS A LOOP.
[ GUNSHOT ECHOING .]
Narrator: THE TEAM'S RESEARCH TURNS UP ONE OTHER IMPORTANT DETAIL.
Nunez: HE WAS ALSO VERY FOND OF PLAYING GUITAR, WHICH MADE US, YOU KNOW, FURTHER REINFORCE OUR BELIEFS THAT THE GUITAR ITSELF WAS A CHARGED OBJECT.
WHAT THE INVESTIGATORS TOLD US WAS THAT WHEN WE MOVED INTO THE HOUSE, HE DIDN'T RECOGNIZE ANY OF US.
HE DIDN'T RECOGNIZE ANYTHING IN THE HOUSE EXCEPT A GUITAR, AND THAT MADE HIM FEEL AT HOME.
THAT MADE HIM FEEL COMFORTABLE, SO HE ATTACHED HIMSELF TO IT.
Narrator: THE SOPAH TEAM ARE CONVINCED THE SPIRIT IN THE HOUSE IS THE YOUNG BOY, BUT THEY'RE NOT SURE WHY HE'S STILL THERE.
SO THEY TRY AND CONTACT HIM.
ONE OF MY FAVORITE TOOLS WHEN I GO ON AN INVESTIGATION IS THE SIMPLE FLASHLIGHT.
NOW I'M GOING TO ASK A SERIES OF QUESTIONS TO THE SPIRIT.
Hodgman: IF THE LIGHT DOESN'T TURN ON, THAT, TO ME, IS A NO.
IF THE LIGHT TURNS ON, THEN IT'S A YES.
AND I'LL SAY, "OKAY, I GOT YOUR YES.
NOW IF YOU COULD TURN THE LIGH BACK OFF, THEN WE'LL MOVE TO THE NEXT QUESTION.
" SOME OF THE QUESTIONS THAT I ASKED, FOR EXAMPLE, I ALWAYS WAN TO FIND OUT, "ARE YOU STUCK? IF YOU'RE STUCK, PLEASE TURN THE LIGHT ON," AND THE LIGHT DIDN'T COME ON.
ARE YOU LESS THAN 20 YEARS OLD? WE DIDN'T WANT TO HAVE SOME OTHER SPIRI COMING IN TRYING TO PRETEND IT WAS SOMEONE ELSE.
I STARTED ASKING QUESTIONS AND OF COURSE, BEING A MOTHER, I IMMEDIATELY THOUGHT, "DO YOU NEED SOMEONE TO LET YOUR MOTHER KNOW THAT YOU'RE OKAY?" IT WAS VERY POIGNANT.
AND BEING A MOTHER MYSELF, IT CHOKED BE ME UP A LITTLE BIT.
HE'S HANGING AROUND BECAUSE HE JUST WANTS HIS MOTHER TO KNOW HE'S OKAY.
Narrator: BEFORE THEY LEAVE, THE SOPAH TEAMS TELLS LAURIE TO SPEAK TO THE PREVIOUS OWNERS OF THE HOUSE.
LAURIE SAID THAT SHE WOULD REACH OUT TO HIS PARENTS AND LET THEM KNOW WHAT SHE HAD LEARNED ON THIS INVESTIGATION, THAT HE WOULD HOPEFULLY THEN BE ABLE TO CROSS OVER.
Narrator: THEN THE TEAM OFFERS ONE FINAL PIECE OF ADVICE.
WE FOUND OUR HIGHEST READINGS NEAR THE GUITAR.
IT IS IMPERATIVE THAT YOU GET RID OF THAT GUITAR AS SOON AS POSSIBLE.
Hodgman: WE RECOMMENDED THA LAURIE REMOVE THE GUITAR FROM THE HOME BECAUSE WE THOUGH THAT THAT OBJECT MIGHT BE KEEPING HIM IN THE HOME.
SO WE HIGHLY RECOMMENDED THAT SHE REMOVE I AND TAKE IT SOMEPLACE ELSE.
Narrator: AFTERWARDS, LAURIE REACHES OUT TO THE PREVIOUS OWNERS OF HER HOME.
Meghan: MY MOM FOUND THE OBITUARY OF THE KID WHO HAD DIED IN OUR HOME, AND SHE FOUND OU HIS PARENTS' NAMES.
AND SHE ACTUALLY CAME INTO CONTACT WITH HIS FATHER OVER SOCIAL MEDIA.
AND SHE WAS LIKE, "I DON'T WANT TO UPSET YOU, BUT THIS STUFF IS HAPPENING IN OUR HOUSE, AND I THINK IT MIGHT HAVE SOMETHING TO DO WITH THE DEATH OF YOUR SON.
" TALKING TO HIS FAMILY WE FOUND OUT A LOT ABOUT HIM, AND ONE THING THAT WE FOUND OU WAS THAT HIS PARENTS SAID THAT HE WAS A PRANKSTER, AND THAT TOTALLY FI THE DESCRIPTION OF A LOT OF THE THINGS THAT WOULD HAPPEN IN THE HOUSE.
Laurie: THIS ALL HAPPENED REALLY QUICK.
WHEN I FOUND OU ABOUT THE BOY AND THE TIME THAT I SPOKE WITH THE PARENTS, IT BECAME WE WEREN' SCARED ANYMORE IN THE HOUSE.
THIS WAS A YOUNG KID, AND WE WEREN'T -- WE WEREN'T IN FEAR AT ALL.
Meghan: THAT NEXT DAY I WAS ABOUT TO SHOWER, AND I WENT INTO MY BEDROOM AND I GRABBED A TOWEL.
AND I TURNED AROUND AND LOOKED AT MY BED [ SCREAMS .]
Narrator: NORTH POLE, ALASKA IS THE HOME OF SANTA CLAUS.
BUT WHILE SANTA EPITOMIZES HAPPINESS AND JOY, INSIDE THE FOWLER HOME, A NIGHTMARE IS UNFOLDING.
Meghan: I WAS ABOUT TO SHOWER, AND I WENT INTO MY BEDROOM AND I GRABBED A TOWEL.
AND I TURNED AROUND AND LOOKED AT MY BED.
[ SCREAMS .]
I SAW THAT ONE OF MY PILLOWS WAS JUST LEVITATING OFF MY BED.
IT SCARED ME SO BAD BECAUSE I HAD NEVER SEEN SOMETHING LIKE THAT RIGH IN FRONT OF MY FACE.
MOM! DAD! I COULDN'T BREATHE, I WAS SO SCARED.
Laurie: IT WAS ACTUALLY THE DAY AFTER THE INVESTIGATION.
MEGHAN CAME WALKING OU AROUND THE CORNER FROM THE HALLWAY IN A TOWEL, COULDN'T SPEAK, SHE WAS TREMBLING.
I ASKED HER WHAT WAS WRONG.
I THOUGHT, "MAYBE SHE IMAGINED THAT.
" SHE WAS OBVIOUSLY VERY, VERY UPSET.
I DON'T DOUBT FOR A SECOND THAT SHE'S SEEN WHAT SHE SAID SHE SAW BASED ON HER REACTION TO IT.
IMMEDIATELY AFTER THAT HAPPENED, I MESSAGED THE TEAM AND I SAID, "I KNOW THIS SOUNDS CRAZY, BUT I'M GONNA TELL YOU WHAT JUS HAPPENED AT OUR HOUSE.
" MY DAUGHTER SCREAMED.
MY HUSBAND AND I RAN OUT, AND SHE WAS SAYING SOMETHING WAS FLOATING IN HER ROOM.
I -- I'M -- I'M REALLY, REALLY AFRAID.
Narrator: BUT LAURIE HAS ONE BIG CONFESSION TO MAKE.
Laurie: I KNEW I HAD TO GET RID OF THE GUITAR AND, UH, I DIDN'T KNOW WHAT TO DO WITH IT.
I, YOU KNOW, USUALLY WHEN I DON'T WANT SOMETHING, I TAKE IT TO THE RE-USE SECTION OF THE DUMP.
AND THIS WAS SOMETHING THAT I DIDN'T WANT ANYBODY JUST TO PICK UP AND TAKE HOME.
SO AFTER TALKING TO THE TEAM, THEY ADAMANTLY STATED THAT THAT GUITAR NEEDED TO GE REMOVED FROM MY HOME AS SOON AS POSSIBLE.
IT WAS MY HOPE THAT ONCE THE GUITAR WAS MOVED THAT HE WOULD BE FREE.
IT WOULD MAKE HIM REALIZE, "WAI A MINUTE, THAT WASN'T MY GUITAR.
THIS ISN'T MY HOUSE.
THIS ISN'T MY FAMILY ANYMORE.
I SHOULD PROBABLY MOVE ON.
" Laurie: SO I DID JUST THAT.
I GOT RID OF IT.
I DONATED IT TO A MUSIC PROGRAM IN A BUILDING THAT IS NOT SOMEBODY'S HOME.
ONCE THE GUITAR WAS REMOVED FROM THE HOUSE, THINGS REALLY STARTED SETTLING DOWN.
WE WERE ALL REALLY STARTING TO FEEL BETTER ABOUT, YOU KNOW, THE HOUSE, AND NOT SECOND-GUESSING OURSELVES ANYMORE.
Meghan: AFTER WE GOT RID OF THE GUITAR, WE ACTUALLY COULD SLEEP IN OUR OWN ROOMS.
I DIDN'T FEEL LIKE ANYONE WAS ANYONE WAS WATCHING ME.
IT WAS A GOOD FEELING.
IT FELT LIKE IT WAS A BRIGHTER ENERGY AND EVERYONE SOR OF COULD GO BACK TO LIVING LIFE HOW WE DID WHEN WE FIRS MOVED INTO THE HOME.
Narrator: AND TO THIS DAY, THE FOWLER FAMILY BELIEVE THE SPIRIT OF THE YOUNG BOY HAS FINALLY FOUND PEACE.
Laurie: MY KIDS AND I FEEL LIKE WE KNOW THIS FAMILY, AND WE KNOW THE HISTORY OF THE HOUSE.
AND WE DON'T HAVE ANY INTENTIONS OF LEAVING IT.
WE'RE HAPPY THERE.
I THINK I'VE ABSOLUTELY CHANGED BECAUSE OF THIS EXPERIENCE.
IF YOU WOULD HAVE ASKED ME 3 OR 4 YEARS AGO IF I WOULD BELIEVE IN HAUNTINGS, I WOULD HAVE ABSOLUTELY BEEN LIKE, "NO.
" GOING THROUGH SOMETHING LIKE THIS REALLY LEAVES YOU OPEN-MINDED TO LOTS OF OTHER THINGS.
Meghan: I REALLY DO LOVE OUR HOUSE.
NO MATTER WHAT HAPPENED IN IT, IT'S STILL OUR DREAM HOUSE, AND I THINK EVERYTHING THAT HAPPENED SORT OF MADE ME LOVE IT A LITTLE BIT MORE, HONESTLY.
Narrator: FOR THE PARANORMAL INVESTIGATORS, IT'S FURTHER PROOF THAT SPIRITS IN ALASKA ARE MUCH MORE ACTIVE THAN IN THE LOWER 48.
Hodgman: I BELIEVE ALASKA HAS GOT A LOT OF HISTORY, AND THAT CONTRIBUTES TO THE PARANORMAL HAPPENINGS AROUND THE STATE.
WE HAD A GOLD RUSH.
WE HAVE THE ELEMENTS HERE ARE ATROCIOUS IN THE WINTERTIME.
A LOT OF PEOPLE FREEZE TO DEATH.
SUICIDE IS BIG IN ALASKA, ESPECIALLY IN THE WINTERTIME.
WE HAVE ONE OF THE HIGHES SUICIDE RATES IN THE COUNTRY.
WITH ALL THE PEOPLE THAT HAVE COME THROUGH ALASKA, THE PEOPLE WHO HAVE LIVED THEIR LIVES HERE, THE HARDSHIPS THEY ENDURED DURING THE COURSE OF THEIR LIVES IS DEFINITELY, IN MY OPINION, GONNA KEEP US BUSY FOR AS LONG AS WE'RE ABLE TO.
