YOUR DREAM BOYFRIEND
Hmm.
[phone beeping]
[horn honking]
[vehicle approaching]
ARE YOU OPEN TO CHANGE?
HOW DO YOU LIKE YOUR HAIR?
[sighs] My dad's taking forever
to come back.
[car horn honking]
My dad! My dad! My dad! It's my dad!
[car door closes]
My dad!
Hey, sweetheart. [chuckles]
What's going on?
Uh. Ah.
What's wrong?
[laughs]
Oh, sweetheart, what's gotten into you?
Huh?
Yeah.
Did something bad happen at school?
Huh?
Is that it?
[sighs]
I've missed you so much, Dad. That's all.
Aw, sweetie.
- I'm just so happy you're home now.
- Me too. Me too.
[kisses]
- Let's head in.
- Mm-hmm.
Hello.
Oh, you're finally home!
- Hi, honey.
- You're back.
Hi.
The lights for the party
aren't working for some reason.
- Yeah?
- Can you fix them for me?
Lu, can you ask him to help later?
He's hungry and tired from the trip.
I'm fine. I can fix them for you.
Just give me a minute to find my tools.
I can help you if you want.
- Help me?
- Mm-hmm.
- But you might get bored.
- Mm-mm.
Seriously?
Okay. Come on.
Mm.
- [Antônio chuckles]
- [door opens]
[mom] What's gotten into your sister?
Wanna tell me
what's going on with you, sweetie?
If you wanna talk about it,
I'm hear to listen. Hmm?
[sighs]
Uh, did Mom tell you
what happened to Carol?
Mm-hmm.
Well, Dad
it was my fault.
How so? It can't be your fault,
because you weren't driving the car.
But it was still my fault, Dad.
All of that happened to her
'cause I just wanted her
to break up with Eduardo.
That boy is gonna hold her back.
He's bad for her.
Yeah, I'm not so sure
I can argue with that.
Mm, right?
And I don't know. After that,
things just got more messed up.
It was one bad thing after another.
And I swear to you,
I was only trying to find a way
to help Carol and César and Luiza.
That's what I'm supposed to do, right?
[sighs]
Sweetie, wanna know something
I've learned in life?
Your life is yours.
Everyone else's is everyone else's.
You can't fix life for Carol
or change César's life.
You see, people can't be fixed
the same way we fix things.
Can you hand me that tool on the table?
Here you go.
[Antônio] Ah.
And something else I learned
it's so much easier for us
to try and fix everyone else's problems
but our own, right?
What kind of life do you want?
Have you thought about that, hmm?
A NETFLIX SERIES
The kind of life I want to have?

BASED ON THE BOOK BY BRUNA VIEIRA
What do I want my life to be?
[Antônio] All done.
Oh, Dad, if you don't mind,
could you look at my bike?
- Bring it over.
- Mm-hmm.
Let's see.
Oh, it's loose.
An easy fix.
Dad,
how do you know
that you've made the right choices?
I don't think there is such a thing
as the "right choices."
I think there are choices you make
with your heart. You got me?
Things that you know
you really want in your life
that couldn't be any different.
Those things
I never have any doubts about.
[sighs]
[Antônio] Look at me.
Do you think I have any doubts you?
- Not at all.
- [laughs]

Here.
The brakes are all fixed. Yep.
You can keep that.
It might come in handy
if you need to tighten up a loose screw.
[both chuckle]
[sighs] Dad, I really wish
that you could stay by my side forever.
You're my anchor, Dad. I mean it.
I always thought parents were supposed
to help their children grow wings,
not anchor them down, hmm?
[both chuckle]
[school bell rings]
[Anita sighs]
I'm gonna have to do the hardest thing
in the world in order to fix this mess.
And that is doing nothing.
I'll stop sticking my nose
in other people's business
and deal with the consequences
of the stupid things I've done.
Time to fix these problems.
[overlapping chatter]
- It's, like, so fun. It's the best.
- Is it?
Hi.
[Anita] Oh no, Henrique.
Please don't come and talk to me.
Go away. You're supposed
to marry Carol in the future.
I can't mess up my cousin's life again.
Go away!
Hey, what are you reading? A romance?
- [chuckles]
- A romance?
Uh, no. Of course not.
I would never read a romance.
People falling in love with each other
and making out? Ugh.

Come on, Henrique.
You've never been a burden. Never.
You're probably the most hardworking,

Yeah.
I don't know.

To visit Paris one day.

- I know.
And you'll eat crème brûlée
by cracking it like Amélie Poulain.
Wanna go together?
For sure.
Promise me with your thumb.
Promise with my thumb.
Henrique, uh
wanna go get some ice cream
at Geraldo's after class today?

Oh, I said I'd go with Carol
to church to check out the instruments.
Oh yeah?
Wow, that's, uh That's so cool.
Yeah.
Well, uh, I'm I'm gonna go, so see you.
[Anita] Oh geez. Should I go with him?
Come on, Anita.
If you're gonna face your problems,
you can't run from them.
You have to embrace the problem,
hold the problem's hand,
and maybe visit the problem's church.
You must be brave.

I came because I want to talk.
Really?
Too bad because I have nothing to say.
[sighs] How can I make things right
between us again? Please tell me.
What can you do, Anita,
is go back in time and undo what you did.
Mm-hmm, I've already tried that.
