By Any Means (2013) s01e04 Episode Script

Episode 4

1 We find the case proven.
Based on the testimonies heard in this room, it seems clear to us that Detective Inspector Harris and Detective Sergeant Taylor's investigation into this case was conducted with such fervour, with such unwavering conviction of the plaintiff's guilt, that their conduct did indeed amount to harassment.
We do of course offer our full and unreserved apologies to Mr and Mrs Walker.
A date will be set to hear any claim for compensation.
Could we please now show Mr and Mrs Walker out, so the board can make its disciplinary recommendations? Due to the nature of the law and the recommendations held within, it leaves me with little choice but to herewith relieve DI Harris and DS Taylor of their duties as police officers.
Further, it is our recommendation that unless any new evidence comes to light, the investigation into Mr and Mrs Walker should now be closed.
We're just glad it's all over, that everyone now knows there was no truth at all in any of these accusations.
Now we'd like to be left alone, please, so that we can get on with our lives.
Thank you very much.
Holly Goodridge.
Can I ask if you have anything to say to the organisations inside Syria that were promised financial help? No comment.
Were you aware that one of the orphanages that you used in your campaign has now been closed? Look, we've said all we intend to say.
Here's an easier one.
Where'd you hide the money? Thank you very much, we are exonerated.
Please leave us to live our lives in peace, thank you.
We have the finest police force in the world, now no-one can deny that but, I just wish that sometimes they would think about what their priorities ought to be.
Getting off their arses, catching real criminals, not harassing law abiding citizens.
Well said, Laurence.
They should be out chasing these benefit cheats.
Absolutely, absolutely, but to be fair, in the end, the right decision was made, and do you know, the IPCC did a bloody marvellous job.
So I would like to raise a toast.
To the justice system.
The justice system.
My gran had one of those.
Your gran? Yeah, knitting wasn't really her thing.
'Hello?' 'It's me.
Meet me in Hyde Park in an hour.
' Your marriage ended before you had children, didn't it, Jack? Yeah, thanks for reminding me.
It's just that there's a protective instinct built into most of us where children are concerned.
It's quite extraordinary.
Laurence and Sally Walker.
Ex-MP and former bank finance director.
They preyed on that very instinct by setting up a charity for children affected by the unrest in Syria.
They raised just over £3 million.
One day the money simply disappeared from their account.
They said they were the victims of a terrible cyber crime.
But you think the Walkers stole it.
Of course they did! Sally Walker's area of expertise was online banking fraud, it's so brazen it beggars belief.
They knew full well the police couldn't prove anything.
Scotland Yard's IT specialist unit couldn't trace the money either.
Right, so, they're a couple of con artists, why do you need me? Because two very good police officers lost their jobs this morning.
DI Peter Harris and DS Yvonne Taylor knew the Walkers were guilty and kept pursuing them, waiting for them to slip up.
The Walkers complained to the IPCC.
Taylor and Harris were found guilty of police harassment.
Nasty.
It leaves the Walkers virtually untouchable, the police can't go anywhere near them.
And the IPCC have said the case should be closed unless any new evidence can be found.
So you want us to find this "new" evidence? Yes.
How? By doing the thing no-one else has managed to do - find the money.
He's a retired MP? Yeah, retired being a euphemism for losing his seat in the election.
She was a finance director for one of the major banks, a high-end accountant specialising in banking fraud.
Which comes in handy when you're planning to steal and hide £3 million worth of charity donations.
You know, I think I gave 'em 20 quid.
Wow, well that makes it personal.
Their story goes that your 20 quid along with the rest of the 3 million was in their bank one minute and gone the next.
Allegedly stolen by mystery hackers that the police never managed to trace.
Right, so they've moved it, but nobody knows where? Exactly.
And because of them, two good coppers lost their jobs this morning.
Do you think they'll get their jobs back then, if we can prove the Walkers are guilty? We're their only chance.
And we do that by finding the money? Yeah.
Simple.
Really? Cos if Scotland Yard's finest I unit couldn't find this money, then how can we? Well, that's easy.
We've got something they haven't.
Which is? TomTom.
We need someone who thinks like a criminal.
I find that very offensive.
Oh, poor baby.
Have you got any idea how hard it is to hack into a bank, let alone tracking financial transactions through cyberspace? So you can't do it? I never said that, I was just bigging up my part.
Come on then.
Step aside, this is man's work.
Oh, here.
Just have a coffee and a cake.
We have to be careful, remember.
Right.
We have to behave as normal, as agreed.
Normal, got it.
Right, right.
As in? You write your autobiography, I play the little woman at home, very patient.
And then, when we're absolutely sure we've been completely forgotten, we take a trip and we never come back! Excellent.
Syria was a masterstroke.
This is crazy.
It left their account and went to Madrid, then to Barcelona, from there to Lisbon then on to the Cayman Islands, which is where the police lost it.
But I think I know why.
I mean, they were searching for large amounts, right? Yeah, but if you were a crook, you'd know that, so you'd break it up.
So three days after arriving in Cayman Islands, there were 38 smaller transfers all under £100,000.
And that's easy to miss.
I mean, 38 transactions amongst thousands, it wouldn't register.
He's enjoying this, ain't he? But, and here's the clever bit, all 38, totalling 3 million sterling were all transferred to the same account.
Now that's genius.
So where's the bank? Barbados.
But, before you rush off and pack your budgie smugglers, it was only there four hours.
So where's it now? No idea.
Why do I feel strangely empty? Hey look, this is pretty time consuming stuff, guys.
I mean, as soon as I break one bank's encryption, I find that the money has moved again and I have to start cracking another one.
So how long's it going to take, TomTom? It's been through six different banks in five countries already.
For all I know, it could be what, 100 banks in 50 countries.
I think I'll get there, but I'd hate it to be your only plan.
It might help if you can narrow it down for me, say, to a continent.
Right, so let's come at this a different way.
The Walkers must be feeling pretty safe, right? Especially if they think they're untouchable.
They'll be relaxed, off-guard.
They've won their harassment case, the investigation has been closed, so they must feel like they're home free.
Battle won.
Maybe it's time to start making plans.
Yeah, no-one's looking at them any more so they can start talking about spending all this lovely money.
Maybe even where it is.
Them talking about it is one thing, us hearing it, that's another.
Yeah, and especially as we're not allowed to go anywhere near 'em.
We need full surveillance in that house.
So we need them out of it.
We need to come up with something they won't be able to resist.
Sal? Mm-hmm? Sally? What? We've been invited to a lunch.
Remembering Margaret.
They're even sending a car for us.
Why would they invite you? I mean, you're not even one of them any more.
They clearly think I am, erm Right, well I'd better get a new suit.
You've got plenty of suits.
Oh, come on, Sally, it's not as if we can't afford it.
We agreed we'd be careful didn't we, Laurence?! This, this is only a suit! Yes, and you can wear your blue one.
The one you bought for Esme's Christening.
Sally, no, I Good to see you all.
We do not expect to be late.
Sir.
'This operation is to go like clockwork.
You've got two hours.
' How did Jack wangle the invites? Friends in high places.
You know, old stick, I've been thinking, maybe they want me back.
Who? The party.
Whatever for? To contest a seat.
Don't be ridiculous.
Right, I've photographed all her ornaments in their position because she's really house proud.
Borderline OCD.
OK, so make sure we put everything back exactly as it was.
Jessica, please, I'm like a cat.
Huh.
Real slick.
I'm going to take this off.
'Heads up, we're here.
' 'OK, Charlie, I'm in position.
' I'll be parked around the corner.
Thank you.
Hello, nice to see you.
And you.
You should have splashed out, old love, got yourself a new dress.
'How we doing, Jess?' It's a big house, Jack, need every second.
So up there and there, I'll do the bathroom.
You look bored, Maggie.
The people you pledged money to are still waiting, aren't they, Mrs Walker? We have nothing to say to you.
I was out there, sending reports back from Damascus, you never even visited the orphanages, did you? We're the victims in all this, you know.
The victims are the people you cheated.
If you don't mind, thank you.
I found the little boy whose photo you used in your campaign.
His carers said he'd stopped crying because he didn't think anyone was coming to save him.
We were completely exonerated.
He died in my arms.
Honest hard-working people donated their money and you stole it, didn't you, Mrs Walker? I think you'll find that's slander.
Well then sue me and let's have this discussion in court.
Careful, you'll put them off their lunch.
I'd prefer if they choked on it.
Get me out of here.
I want to go home.
Just ignore them, Sally.
The lunch Oh, sod the bloody lunch.
Everybody's staring at us! Would you take me home? Sally Now! Sally! Sa Charlie, get back here, they're leaving.
Taxi! Jack? What's going on? Jumped in a cab, they're heading back to you.
What? We haven't finished yet, we needat least another hour.
You've got about 20 minutes.
You need to get those pictures live as quickly as possible.
I didn't know she'd be there.
All right, TomTom, we need to check the photos.
Everything needs to be just right.
OK.
We could go to the Press Complaints Committee.
We could sue her, we could, they've got, they've got different guidelines now.
We could get her sacked.
Come on.
Come on, come on, come on.
They need to get out of there.
Time's up.
OK.
Jess! Yep.
Something is still out of place here.
Seriously, we've got to go.
Yeah.
Move it.
Hurry up, guys! Jess! Come on.
Here you go.
Come on! Wait! Jessica Go! Go, go, go, go, go! Nice work.
Laurence, what is this? Did you move this vase? What do you mean? Did you? Well, I didn't touch it.
Why would I? Sal? What's the matter? Oh 'I think this vase has been moved.
It's not where I put it.
'It wasn't me.
You must be imagining it.
' Sal? I've gotI've got one of my headaches coming on, I'm going to, I'm going to lie down.
Tea for TomTom.
Oh, thanks.
Anything, mate.
Any investments, anything they've moved around.
We justwe just need er Tea.
Oh, cheers.
Erm, we just need a bit of help.
Do you really think they'll talk about where the money is? Eventually.
Here we go.
Take your seats, for day one in the Big Brother house.
'No.
I was reading that.
'I know what you were really doing.
'I was just window shopping, dear heart.
'All in good time.
' 'What's the point of having all this?' Thomas, tell me we're recording this.
Every word.
'Just keep asking, don't you?! Patience.
' Never mind patience, push it.
'We're sitting on a fortune.
' That's my boy.
'Yes, we are.
' Was that a confession? 'And that's the way it's going to stay, just for some time.
' Don't let her boss you around, get in there and be a man.
'You ready for your soup? Please.
' Wimp! TomTom, where's the money now? It was in Bolivia but it's been moved again.
I don't know - travel, holidays, cars.
Holidays, OK.
'What is this? I don't know, I can't follow it.
'Oh, come on, Laurence!' 'Yeah, who's good or who's bad or?' 'Oh.
What?' Cos that's not annoying.
'Is it hot? Yes, it is quite hot actually.
' Come on, give it up.
Come on.
All right, cheers, mate, bye.
OK, so, no unusual expenses, no rash purchases.
I mean, if anything, they're spending less than they did last year.
The only extravagant thing that they have done in the last 12 months is take holidays.
Four of them.
To Portugal.
Switzerland.
Portugal again and Italy.
Four holidays? No wonder he lost his seat, he was never in his constituency.
This is the most boring soap opera in the history of television.
They've got to crack sooner or later.
They'll say or do something that will tell us where that money is.
'You're going to wipe round the basin, aren't you, please? 'Wipe round the basin!' 'I think that's my main problem, 'most of it's fallen out as a result.
' Thank you, Charlie.
'Don't pretend you ever tried.
'If you brushed it, probably would fall out.
Yes.
'You don't want me to carry on reading, 'well, just say what you mean.
'Have you taken your pills?' 'You must remember her, she was at our wedding.
'She was one of our bridesmaids.
No, haven't a clue, sorry.
'Sit up straight on the sofa.
' 'This bloody oven timer, it makes absolutely no sense to me! 'I don't even know what was wrong with the gas one' 'All right then.
Nighty-night.
'Turn out your light, I might read a second longer, 'just want to finish this bit.
'Did you turn the kitchen light out? Ahyes.
'Oh your feet are cold!' I'm so sorry.
'No, don't put it on the floor!' Oh.
No, no, no, no, no, can we turn it off? Please say we can turn it off.
Don't look.
'It's because I lost my seat, isn't it? It makes you think less of me.
'Oh come on, don't be silly.
'Don't worry, I think less of me too.
I understand.
'You are amazing.
'This idiot government have missed out on a point-politician.
' Oh, please! Sao Tome and Principe? Is that even a country? 'What do you think I married you for?' 'What I'm saying is not' Jack! Here we go.
'Oh, will you stop going on and on! 'Look, all I'm saying is I want a new car.
'That is not unusual, people do it all the time.
'But it won't just be a new car, will it? 'You'll go and buy something extravagantly 'No, I am not an idiot!' You tell her, Tiger! 'I don't want to have this conversation again.
'I want a new car.
' That's it.
'And I said no.
' Go on, Laurence! 'I insist.
Excuse me? I said.
I insist.
' Yes, here we go.
'All right, go ahead and get one.
'You know, risk everything we've worked for.
Carry on, be an idiot!' Yes, go on, be an idiot.
'Do you really want that?' 'Sorry.
Come on, darling.
' Oh, no! Hello.
I haven't heard from you so I was wondering how you're getting on? Oh, you know, we're still working on a few things.
They haven't got you beat, have they, Jack? What? As if.
Two no-hopers like that, no.
A quick result would be good, so I won't keep you.
'What joys are we to unfold today? 'I mean, why do you think, 'why do you think I married you for heaven's sakes?!' TomTom, can you get me an address? Where you going? This is driving me stir crazy, I'm going to try something different.
OK, do you want me to come with? No, no, keep watching, I won't be long.
Cheers.
Hello again.
Sorry, do I know you? Er, we met briefly, at the hotel.
You made Sally Walker look a little bit embarrassed.
One of my many talents.
Charity Regulation Office? We want the Walkers just as much as you do.
Thanks.
I thought the investigation had been shelved.
By the police, maybe.
So how can I help? Just wanted to get a bit of background on the Walkers, anything you might know.
Where do you want me to start? They're callous, they're greedy and they think they're better than everyone else.
And what about your unbiased take on them? I spent time out there.
They made promises to people, gave them hope.
You know, kids who thought they'd find their parents again, shelters waiting for food and clothing.
They took the money for themselves and they'll get away with it.
Not if we can help it.
I think they've got everything worked out to the last detail.
They do seem pretty tight.
Well, he's a dick, harmless, stupid, but a dick.
But her, she's Cruella de Vil, she's smart as smart gets.
You really think she's that clever? She made £3 million disappear into thin air, didn't she? Hang on.
You said "didn't she".
Sorry? It's OK, thanks very much for your help.
You've given me an idea.
Are you going? But I didn't tell you anything, did I? More than you know.
I'll call you.
Right.
Change of plan.
Jack, no, you need to see this! Play it, Charlie? Yeah.
'Let's just go away and never come back.
'It's too soon.
People would notice.
'I don't know.
I thought we'd agreed all this.
'No, Sal, we're not getting on any more, and that worries me.
'I want us to be happy.
'You know we're in, we're in a limbo.
The longer we stay here, 'the more we'll squabble and things will fall apart.
'This is just killing us as a couple.
'Come on, Sal, what about it? Let's go.
'And never come back? 'Never, never!' TomTom's drawing a blank and there's nothing recorded we can use.
If they leave the country, we're screwed.
And we'll never find out where the money is.
So what was this change of plan you were talking about? Oh, it's just a hunch.
Hunch is good.
Sally Walker is doing all the running, yeah? Mm-hmm.
Laurence needs something, he asks her permission, he wants to buy a new car he needs to convince her.
Even this! He wants to go away, he's got to convince her first.
So he needs to grow a pair, we already knew that.
No, it's more than that.
I don't think she's told him where the money is! No, no way.
That's like her wearing all the trousers at once.
We can sit here for weeks, they're never going to talk about the money, because she hasn't told him where it is! That's why he has to ask her permission for everything, because he hasn't got a clue.
Yeah.
So it's not them we need to crack.
It's her.
And that's going to help us how? Well, that's the hunch I'm talking about.
It came to me on the way back.
You've got that look in your eye.
I'm not sure you're going to like it.
It's a little bit extreme.
That's never bothered us before.
No, no, if he says it's extreme, it's extreme.
Is it extreme? It's extreme.
Stupid, blind I am so sorry, my foot must have slipped off the brake, are youare you OK? Oh, nothing broken, I don't think so anyway.
What, what about you, ererm? Oh, thank you, yeah.
I-I think I'm all right.
I just, I hope I haven't done too much damage to your car.
Oh, no, I'm sure it'll be all right, it was just a little bump.
That's all that's happened.
Shocking.
'Hello, this is Laurence Walker.
Please leave a message.
' Laurence, where are you, darling? Can you call me? Just so I know, how long do you get for kidnapping? I was just wondering ifif you've got Laurence there with you, by any chance.
Because he hasn't Just a minute, someone's beeping, might be him.
Hang on.
Laurence, where on earth have you been? 'We have your husband.
' Excuse me? We have your husband.
We know you stole that money.
And we know you've still got it.
You've just been sent a text message with an IBAN number for an overseas account.
You've got one hour to put £1 million in that account.
I haven't got that sort of money.
You pay the ransom or he's dead.
No more discussion.
And no police.
It's impressive.
Done it before? She's bricking it.
Good.
What if she has a heart attack and just dies? Yeah, that's a fair point.
Seriously though, I never checked her medical records.
She might have a weak ticker and keel over from the stress.
She'll be fine, I doubt she's even got a heart.
So let me get this straight, she pays in the million and the second she does, TomTom gets access to her secret account.
Yeah, that's all the proof we need.
Nice.
She's got one hour.
TomTom, not much point, is there? We'll know where it is soon.
It's not the same.
No? Uh-uh.
Because her giving it to us is not the same as me finding it.
And I hate being beaten.
Especially by an old bird.
Wow, double whammy.
Sexist and ageist, all in a single sentence.
It's a gift.
Huh? All right then.
Drink up.
How long do you intend keeping me here? Just until your wife pays us the money.
Proud of yourself, are you? Stealing money from honest, hard-working people? That's rich coming from you.
You won't get away with this Do you think she's going to do it? As long as she thinks that we're real kidnappers, she'll think she can pay us off without anyone finding out it was her that stole it in the first place.
Is that a yes or a no? Both.
All right, so what's plan B? Two minutes, guys.
It's nearly time.
Anything? Nothing yet.
If she was going to do it at all, she'd have done it by now.
Charlie's right.
Refresh the page.
What, you think I haven't? Well, try it again.
OK.
Still nothing.
Could it have got held up in the system? Maybe.
Time's up.
Hello? 'Where's the money?' Uh, listen, it's not easy.
I would if I could.
It's difficult to get hold of that sort of money.
Can I speak to Laurence please, because how do I even know he's alive? How do I know you've even got him there? You can speak to him when you've transferred the money.
No.
I want to speak to him now, please! Get her up on the screen.
Holy shit! What? She's called the police! All they care about is the money, so sit tight, because they will call back.
They're going to kill him.
They said they would.
Mrs Walker, let us do what we know we're good at.
Listen, we have done this before and you hold a lot more cards than you realise.
I'm guessing this wasn't part of the plan? Plans change all the time.
This This doesn't have to be a bad thing.
We've kidnapped someone, Jack.
Yeah, and we can use it to our advantage.
She can't transfer the money with the police there.
No.
She will if she thinks she's got no choice.
We'll call her back and let her talk to him.
Do you think she'll pay? She'd better.
And if she doesn't? Then we make it the last time they ever speak to each other.
Either she pays up, or we kill him.
And dump the body.
I know a great place.
No-one'll ever find him.
Wait, please, please.
We'll pay you the money.
Just tell me what you want to do.
You're going to talk to your wife and you're going to tell her you don't want to die.
Hello? 'Darling' Oh, Laurence! Are you all right? Have theyhave they hurt you? Listen to me, Sally.
Please, just listen to me.
Erm, you have to pay them the money! You need to keep calm.
Listen to me, please.
Just You have to do it now or they are going to kill me.
Butbut you know we haven't got that sort of money! But if we did But we haven't! Please! Stop pissing about! Just pay them the bloody money! 'Hello, Sally? Are you still there?' Yes, yes I'm still here.
Um, I suppose we could perhaps You've got one hour.
But if I Please Oh, they've gone.
They've gone.
Sorry, Guv.
No trace.
'No trace at all?' Do not take your eyes off her.
Right.
Oh, where are you going, my friend? Good boy.
I'm going outside.
Right, listen to this, Guv.
'Sally, stop pissing about, just pay them the bloody money! That feedback - I think they bugged the house.
They know we're here? Oh, Christ.
I've run a trace.
They're logged on to the home broadband.
I think they've got cameras too.
They're running on the 4G network.
Look, just plain English, Flint.
They're sending sound and possibly pictures over a 4G wi-fi frequency, to a computer, a tablet, maybe even a smartphone.
Either way, they'll need a SIM card.
But can you trace that? What are you looking for? The big cheese in charge cop, and the one with the erslick hair.
I don't know where they are, I can't see them.
Is that a problem? Dunno yet.
I like to know where all the players are.
That them? Yeah, that's them.
Ten minutes.
She's not going to pay, Jack.
I think she will.
I think we've underestimated her.
She's going online.
It's not here yet.
Well, how long's it take? Should be pretty instant.
What's that? I've been hacked! What?! That is really not a good thing.
Police! Move, move! Lie still.
Lie still.
Stay where you are! Jack?! Hands on your head! Stay down.
Hands on your head! Let's start with your name.
We'll find out who you are sooner or later.
If you tell us your name and the name of the others, it could make things a lot easier for you down the line.
Let's start with an easy one.
Who are you? I want to call my brief.
Name first.
Brief first or you get nothing.
I'd like five minutes with my client.
Alone.
So the IPCC rule that the Walker investigation is closed, two police officers are dismissed for harassing them, the rest of the force are walking around on eggshells and what do you do? You kidnap one of them.
It was the only way.
I fought against a lot of people to set up your team.
Very important people who weren't convinced it was possible to run an operation like this.
Well, congratulations, Jack.
You've just proved them right and made me look like an idiot in the process.
My brief is, "by any means," remember.
Don't be a smart arse! I'm sorry.
OK? Sorry doesn't quite cut it.
Can you square this or not? Of course I can't! You've been caught in the act of carrying out a criminal offence.
Kidnapping and demanding a ransom.
So that's it? Then you get the others out.
You get them out or I'll go public.
I mean it.
I'll keep my mouth shut and I'll do the time, but only if you get them to let them go.
This was my plan, they were only following me.
Do what you want with me, Helen, but they walk.
I'm not going in there! This confirms they've been released into your custody.
If you'd just like to initial by the side of the names, all four prisoners.
Thank you.
Here's your key.
Give us a second.
Helen.
Thank you.
That was a one-time only deal, Jack.
Your last get out of jail free card, I mean it.
What did you tell them? I didn't tell them anything.
But I convinced my boss to call the Commissioner and tell him you were MI5.
There's a lot of work to be done and a lot to cover up, so excuse me if I don't hang around.
What about the Walkers? We retrieved all the surveillance equipment from their house and the matter is closed.
I can't begin to tell you how embarrassing this was for me or how long it will take me to repay the favour.
I was all for holding you to your word and just letting the other three go, but he said it would be too messy.
Now the favour comes with a 24-carat condition.
What? You stay away from the Walkers.
You It's non-negotiable.
After the trauma they've suffered What? They're planning a trip abroad.
Oh! They leave the day after tomorrow.
Brilliant.
Well, that's it.
You know they won't come back, don't you? We'll live with that.
You mean, you'll have to live with it Listen, Jack! You are not to contact them.
You are not to step foot inside their house.
You are not to carry out any kind of surveillance or hinder them in any way.
I want your word.
Fine.
Good.
Every time you screw up, it's a black mark.
It all counts.
How did they do it? How did they beat us? A pair like that.
Mr and Mrs Vile.
Fancy a drink? I'd be shit company.
Can't win 'em all.
Even you.
Sal, you would've paid, wouldn't you? Of course.
Only it didn't seem that way.
You know, you seemed pretty, well, you were pretty adamant.
Darling, I was following police instructions.
Yes, I'mI'm sure that's the best way.
I'd have quite happily given the entire three million to have you back here, my darling, without a second thought.
You promise? Cross my heart.
I-I-I was thinking Yes? Well, perhaps I should know where the money is too.
Just in case something happens to you.
And I could pay up like you would have.
All will be revealed tomorrow.
Really? Absolutely.
Start as you mean to go on.
G&T? Please.
On its way 'We're sitting on a fortune.
'Yes, we are.
' I can't do it.
Can't do what? Sleep.
Not when I know that money's still out there.
It doesn't matter now, mate.
Well, it matters to me.
I have to know that she's not smarter than me, right.
All right? What are you doing here? Couldn't sleep.
He phoned me.
He was worried about you.
No, I wasn't.
I said you'd be fine.
He thought you'd be drunk, morose and all on your own.
Two out of three.
Boom! Whoa, dude! I just crashed.
Sorry, mate.
I found it.
Found what? I found the money.
Where? 63 banks, four continents, 18 countries, 400 'you think you're so clever you're going to split it into smaller amounts' transactions and it reached its final destination, in euros, in Switzerland on Friday the 24th August.
Where it was withdrawn by special arrangement.
In cash! Switzerland.
Hang on! Here we go, here we go, here we go.
Er, yes! Switzerland! 21st August until the 28th.
So we've got them.
Not really.
You know, the cash was collected by a courier.
So it's a start, it's more than we had before, but that's all.
TomTom's right, we still don't know where it is.
It could be in a safety deposit box anywhere in Europe, they could have bought diamonds with it.
Or they could have brought it back to the UK.
I mean, how much would something like that weigh? Three-mil sterling? Yeah.
In 500 euro notes? Two, maybe three bags of sugar.
It really could be anywhere.
Only we're not allowed anywhere near them to follow it up.
That sucks.
'We're sitting on a fortune.
Yes.
We are.
' 'We're sitting on a fortune.
Yes.
We are.
' 'We're sitting on a fortune.
Yes.
We are.
' 'We're sitting on a fortune.
Yes.
We are.
' She's laughing at us.
At him.
Hello, someone's got another hunch.
The last one got us arrested.
Just saying.
'We're sitting on a fortune.
Yes, we are.
' 'We're sitting on a fortune.
Yes, we are.
' The money.
It's in the house.
Exactly.
Look.
Look at her face.
In that second there, she can't resist it.
A private jokewith herself.
You know, we finally crack it, we hunt down the money and the minute we do, we have to just walk away.
That is perfect.
That'sthat's brilliant.
Well, no, no, hang on.
Why don't we just bowl in there, rip up some floorboards, find the money, done? We can't.
They're untouchable.
You said that with a serious face.
Sorry, guys.
Sal.
Hmm? Sal? Hmm? Fire! Oh, help me! OK, Sal, don't worry.
Don't worry.
Do something! Got to get out of here! Put this on your head now.
For the smoke.
Give me your hand.
Give me your hand.
Now don't let go.
OK, come on! It's coming from downstairs.
I can't see a thing.
Keep your head down.
Don't let go of me, please.
The whole place has gone up.
God, it's everywhere.
Everywhere.
Please, let's get out.
Out.
Out.
No! Sally, what? The sodding money! Sally, no! No! No, Sally! Help! Help me! My wife! She's inside! Whereabouts? I don't know.
She just went inside.
Stay there.
Please help Get off me! I got it.
I got it, Laurence.
I got all of it! I don't understand.
This was in the house all the time? And you didn't tell me? Please! Just do it properly! Just get this sorted out.
You gave me your word.
Which I kept.
I didn't go anywhere near the Walkers, carry out any surveillance or step foot inside their house.
By the skin of your teeth, Mr Quinn.
It all counts.
World exclusive.
The papers show the money trail.
You can thank me over dinner.
My God.
How? Darling? Who exactly are you? Erm Who's this? Oh, er, Jamie, this is erm Nobody.
I'm nobody.
Ahmed Demeer.
You're a murdering bastard.
What was he told? To let a murderer walk free.
Why? National security.
You remember that call we talked about? Time to make it.
Charles Napier, Intelligence Service.
Can you get me out of this? Well, that depends on how good your information is.
Is it right that Ahmed's reward is freedom? Once he's grassed and MI5 have got their men, we'll take Ahmed away and see that he faces justice.
Who are you working for? We need to push it to an 11 on the persuasion scale.
This is a 12.
This guy is informing on terrorists in order to stay out of jail.
What can we possibly throw at him that'll make him want to confess? Mehmet, put the knife down! Ahmed! Get down!
