Finding Bigfoot (2011) s01e04 Episode Script
Fishing for Bigfoot in Oregon
On this episode of "Finding Bigfoot," for over 200 years, the forests of Oregon have been an epicenter of bigfoot activity, with thousands of reported sightings.
Now the Bigfoot Field Researchers Organization, led by Matt Moneymaker, trek deep into the foreboding wilderness of central Oregon to examine a white-water fishing video that captures a compelling piece of evidence that could prove the creature's existence.
To get to the bottom of this mysterious film, the team braves the icy McKenzie River in an attempt to authenticate this intriguing footage.
Evidence begins to mount as the team interviews local witnesses and comes across a startling find of their own That looks like a urine spot.
all in an effort to determine once and for all if bigfoot does exist in Oregon.
It's behind you.
That's a 'squatch.
It was impossibly large.
It definitely wasn't human.
I've been tracking Sasquatches for 25 years.
These animals, in fact, are real.
I've seen them.
They're here.
I'm having a really difficult time finding an explanation for this.
There's something on the hill.
I do think there's a 'squatch in these woods.
Today, the team and I are heading deep into central Oregon into the heart of Northwest bigfoot country.
Since 1950, there have been nearly 1,300 reported bigfoot sightings coming out of this state, especially within the Willamette Valley.
This sparsely populated region is dotted with small farms and former logging towns, but it's dominated by wet, mossy, ferny forest, the prime habitat for bigfoots.
The Willamette National Forest, which spans over 1.
5 million acres of pristine preserved woodlands, loaded with over 1,500 miles of rivers and lakes and streams, is perfect for supporting lots of large wildlife, including bigfoots.
A piece of footage was sent to Bigfoot Field Researchers Organization which took place along the McKenzie River during a white-water-rafting trip.
This video may have accidentally captured what may be a Sasquatch.
It's one of these rare incidents where one of them showed itself in daylight at close range.
Fortunately for us, Cliff is from Oregon, and no one from the team know this turf better than him.
It's good to be bigfooting on my home turf.
From central Oregon to central Washington is what I view as my bigfooting backyard.
I've been bigfooting for 20 years now.
My day job is a professional educator and musician, but my passion is hunting the 'squatch.
What we're gonna be doing today is meet with Chris and Matt, two fly-fishermen that might have accidentally captured a Sasquatch on a video.
Obviously, it's either a bigfoot or a person.
There's a few things about the McKenzie River footage that, to me, justify going and looking into it closer.
Number one is the location.
It's the sort of place where people would see bigfoots, to start with.
Also, its behavior.
The way instead of getting up and watching the guys shoot the rapids, it decides to turn and suddenly move away.
It's inconsistent with what a person would do in that situation.
It looks like a bigfoot.
It seems to behave like a bigfoot.
That's a place and a situation that we should look into, especially if we have a clip, a precious rare clip of video.
What lends credence to it not being a hoax is they didn't even notice it.
One of his employees saw it a year and a half later.
It wasn't like they put this video out trying to fool people.
If it was a hoax, they would have not waited 18 months to present it.
We're gonna do the re-creation, have me stand on the spot, and see how big this thing was.
If the thing's 8 feet tall, then, you know, it's a 'squatch.
This particular rapid is called Fish Ladder Rapids, and it's a class-4 rapid.
When they shot the rapids, I think it was on June 30th, so really early summer.
So the water level was really high.
A lot of spring runoff is going through there, it was quite dangerous.
We're here in winter.
There's snow on the ground, the water level's gonna be also very high, and the temperatures are treacherous for us.
Well, what we need to think about, guys, is not necessarily the winter, when we're gonna be here, but when this was filmed, the McKenzie River, this section in particular, is a huge fishery.
There are all kinds of sport fisherman in there, so this could totally be a misidentification.
That figure was dark from head-to-toe.
You couldn't distinguish a jacket from pants.
Pretty uniform color.
That's what kind of grabbed me.
Yeah, it is an ambiguous video, which is why we're here.
We want to get to the bottom of it and see if we can come to any conclusions about it.
Hey, guys.
Hey.
What's up, you guys? - How we doing? - Very good.
- I recognize you from the video.
- Right on.
You too.
So, what were you guys doing that day filming all day long? We were up here to film the fishing for our blog for the fly shop.
And we were rowing the river.
We put in around 9:00 a.
m.
, and it's a really fast, deep section of river.
You had no idea when you shot that video that there was something standing on the riverbank? No idea.
Matt was up front shooting the video.
We actually didn't recognize it for a lot of time passed before some employees at the shop saw this video rolling and actually saw something on the back.
Your focus was downstream.
You need to be really focused up here in this water, technical white water.
That day was sort of a misty late-May, early-June day.
And it's also you're going downhill there.
How often do you guys see someone actually fishing on the banks or sun-bathing or anything else? In this section of the river, we really don't see it very often, especially at that location.
It's a really technical rapid called the Fish Ladder.
It's one of the toughest ones up here on the McKenzie.
We're not fishing there.
We're just traveling, for safety's sake.
But it's not like we see a lot of people here ever.
From speaking to the two guys in the boat, number one, I found out they're very familiar with that river.
They've gone down it many times.
And according to them, it would be unlikely for somebody to be at that particular spot.
Fishermen go to a different part of that river to catch fish, especially when there's very high water.
Okay, so, at that spot, though, no people you ever recall standing there? Not recently, no.
The reason we're going through so much trouble to raft down this river in these conditions is it's the best way to get some information about what this thing may be, how big it was, reconstruct that incident.
So, Matt, I was hoping you could come with me and you can position me right in the exact spot so we can get that comparison with the rocks for measurements.
Yeah, we'll get right back there.
That would be great.
Well, it seems that maybe it's time to put in and start getting prepared for this thing.
Sounds great.
- You ready to go, Matt? - Yeah.
Let's go.
- We'll head downriver.
- Help us suit up over here.
Matt, Cliff, and I are gonna raft the McKenzie.
Cliff will be running the camera.
Chris is gonna try to re-create the exact line that he took down the McKenzie.
Bobo, our Sasquatch stand-in, will be at the same location as the figure from the original video.
I can see it's a little hard to get in here.
Yeah.
I don't think there was this kind of snow back then.
No, no.
In June, the snow wasn't quite the way it is right now.
Where are we going? Man.
It's no joke up here.
The water is just under 40 degrees.
If I were to fall in that water, I would have probably less than a minute before I would stop breathing.
The habitat is perfect for Sasquatches here.
There deer and elk and other food items everywhere.
There's lots of places to hide.
There's lots of water everywhere.
Food, water, cover.
That's all they need.
So, these are the rocks? If the water was higher then, how was he not in the water? So, I pulled out a small video camera similar to the one that Matt was using when he videotaped the original figure.
As we came around the corner, Bobo was standing in the same spot that the figure was.
Hopefully he's in the frame long enough where we can get some decent size comparisons to the original footage, because the water is cooking at that particular spot, and there's no way you can stay there.
You look great, Bobo! Nice job, Bobo! Considering all the factors that we were working with, I think we nailed this re-creation.
We had Bobo in just the right spot.
So, Cliff, how was it trying to hold that camera in those rapids? You know, it was a little challenging at times, mostly because I was a little concerned about the direction we were going.
But I knew I was in Chris' hands, and I felt good about that.
That man's done it lots of times.
We have to compare Bobo to the rocks themselves, 'cause the rocks are the thing that's in the frame that's unchanging over time.
Now, when you look at it see, Bobo's moving to the left, just like it is.
That's that rock dipping down.
Then there's a space.
I think that rock is that rock Bobo's behind right now.
And I have to say that Bobo looks just as big and if not slightly bigger.
You're bigger than a 'squatch.
We found that the figure was probably in the 6-to-6-1/2-foot range or so.
I still don't think the majority of the frames that you see that in you're seeing uniformly dark from head-to-toe.
I think a human, you would have seen some definition there.
To me, I could see how well-lit Bobo was, and you could see all the colors of his clothes and you could see his skin.
You could see differentiation, yet, this figure was one solid dark color from head-to-toe, which made it very plausible that it was a Sasquatch.
This video is not as high-quality as ours, so that completely makes sense why you can't see quite the differentiation in color.
I have no doubt in my mind that this is a human.
What first stood out to me the most is Bobo's the same size, if not bigger, than the original figure another reason why I'm positive that's a person.
I'm not completely convinced, but having not seen it originally and not had anybody stepped forward after this has been on You Tube a million times and say, "That was me," I don't know.
I'm hung up on the colors.
So, I can see the guy in the boat, the boatman's hat, clothes, skin, colors.
You can't see it on the figure on the left.
Whether this film shows a Sasquatch or not, we are clearly in a very 'squatchy area.
- True.
There is a long history of sightings in this particular area.
And you know what? I think it would behoove us to take a look around tonight here.
And I spoke with a ranger.
She told me where there's a trail not very far from here where there has been incidents where people have come out and reported it to the rangers.
We got to hit that tonight.
The McKenzie River figure might be a Sasquatch.
Whether or not it is, there are still sightings in that area.
Because of the history of the area, both with reports that we've received over the years and kind of the quiet information that we got from the local rangers, we figure we should go check it out while we're still there.
We should do a night investigation to see if we can get one to come around.
Reconstructing the video did little to prove one way or another that it was a Sasquatch.
And we're not gonna be satisfied with just a questionable verdict.
We're here to find some proof that there are bigfoots in the Willamette Forest.
After receiving a great tip from a forest ranger, we knew this was an area we had to focus on.
It's enough information to tell us where to go for a night investigation.
Why don't we split up into two teams.
Perhaps you guys go to the top of the ridge and Matt and I will go to the forest and we'll find two spots where we're gonna be able to hear each other.
I saw on the map a great place to do some calls, so I want to go up there and hit it.
All right.
Let's see what we can do.
I've had good luck in the middle of raging storms.
Anything that provides noise, like, use that cover to approach you closer, which is good if you're thermal, 'cause you want them as close as possible.
I actually have a higher success ratio in weather like this than I do in clear nights.
- Really? - Yeah.
Regarding responses to the calls? For sure Sasquatch activity.
I'm glad we got to walk this snow before it all got rained out.
At least we have a chance to find tracks.
Look at all these tracks.
Scan up ahead.
Look.
It's just peppered up here.
Yep.
They're not that old.
There was tons of deer track.
There was a lot of elk tracks.
So predators congregate there, too mountain lions, bigfoot, Sasquatch.
They all feed there.
This is the kind of thing we're looking for.
If we do it here, our sounds are gonna carry, and I bet Bobo and Ranae will hear us, too.
Let's give it a shot.
Let me notify them we're gonna do so.
Bobo, Ranae, it's Cliff.
Do you read? I think we found a pretty good vantage point.
We're gonna let loose with the call here.
I wanted to give you a heads up.
Let her rip, 'cause we'll be listening.
The purpose of going out and making sounds is to get responses to the sounds, responses from a Sasquatch.
The strategy of ping-ponging calls back and forth kind of mimics what Sasquatches will do in the wild.
And we've found in the past, on expeditions, when we mimic that, we did these howls back and forth to each other over a long distance.
That tended to get us better action faster than if it was just doing it from one point.
We heard those loud and clear.
Why don't you shoot one back at us.
Roger that.
We're ready.
I go back and forth with Bobo about which calls are more effective.
He believes that the low-pitch ones travel further.
I kind of think that the long "waah!"ones travel a little bit further myself.
As far as which ones the Sasquatches like better, you'd have to ask them.
Oh, I got something here.
Bobo, come here.
Look.
Oh! As I was scanning, I actually came across a large blip, a signature on the thermal imager.
Has it not moved? It hasn't moved, but it's definitely a heat signature.
It's right down in there.
I don't know what we're dealing with.
It looks like it's on four legs, doesn't it? Just so far away, I really can't tell.
It looks wider than taller.
It looks like an elk, to me.
I've been using thermal imagers for years.
Ranae is new to thermals.
She just saw a hot spot.
I knew it was an elk right off the bat.
You could see the tracks going right down to it through the snow.
You can see it's an elk right here.
Yeah.
He took off, huh? Whatever was there is now gone.
Yeah, I thought that was an elk.
This is the way that he went in, this tree line here.
Yeah, tonight's not gonna convince you that there's 'squatch, 'cause there's nothing happening.
They're probably the rarest mammal in North America.
I'm not hearing much.
Let's head back to meet up with Bobo and Rae, see if they found anything.
Yeah, all right.
I guess.
At first, the weather didn't bother us so much, but as the rain kept coming down and it turned into snow then back to rain, it was starting to become a safety factor.
We gave it a shot.
Sometimes the weather beats us out, and tonight was one of those nights.
Okay.
All right.
I guess so.
After re-creating Chris and Matt's white-water video with mixed results and having a less-than-stellar night investigation, we were left with more questions than answers.
We decided to drive into the neighboring town of Leaburg for their monthly meeting called "Bigfoot and Beer.
" More than anything, we wanted to find out just how many people in the area had had sightings and encounters of bigfoots.
So, are you guys ready for Bigfoot and Beer tonight? Oh, yeah.
I'm interested to see this.
Now, do all these guys believe in bigfoot? Oh, I don't know.
I think all these people are fans of bigfoot.
You don't have to believe in bigfoot to be a fan, as you well know.
Hopefully some of them will feel safe with us and share some of their stories so we can figure out where some of these events are happening.
So it's like a Bigfoot Anonymous? It's a Bigfoot Anonymous, right.
Here we are.
This is my kind of investigating.
As we're coming in, I see it's just packed, shoulder-to-shoulder.
The parking lots were overflowing.
I was just awe-struck.
There's this giant 8-foot-something-tall Sasquatch replication.
That just blew my mind.
Walking in the door, it was like a homecoming.
A giant bigfoot statue, and beer was flowing.
I knew I was in Oregon.
Hi, everybody.
My name's Cliff Barackman.
This is Ranae Holland.
She's a field biologist from Washington.
James "Bobo" Fay.
He's just a friend of the 'squatch in general from northern California.
And this is Matt Moneymaker.
He runs the BFRO.
We came here because we know that there's a lot of activity.
So, by a show of hands, who here thinks that you have encountered a Sasquatch, whether visually or just hearing one? Please raise your hand and keep them up nice and high.
We heard a noise kind of sounded a little bit screechy.
Me and my sister saw something really big and black just run by and then just kind of disappear.
I was in the car.
And I passed him and I stopped when I thought I was safe enough away from him and I watched him run towards me.
We set out a rabbit in a cage.
We sat there, and we seen him running through the camp.
We have vocal recordings, and he has them with him right now.
Let 'er rip.
About a week and a half ago, me and my two friends sitting right here were going fishing, and all the sudden, we hear a scream just like on the vocalizations on that tape that we heard.
You could see a set of glowing eyes.
And then slowly stood up till about between 8 and 9 feet tall.
The next morning, we went back there, and exactly where we first spotted this thing and in the exact same steps where this creature had walked, we happened to find this huge footprint and casted it.
All right! We collect the witnesses after the meeting, and we had them mark on our map where their incidents happened.
It was right up the Molalla right about right here.
Okay.
We're start pinpointing where these sightings were and boom, it's the Molalla.
When the locations were all marked on a map, we saw one area up by the Molalla River where we already have some reports from Rusty and Brady and Mary and Mark and Steve and Orey.
To us, that was great.
This was a lower elevation.
It was out of the snow, compared to the McKenzie River location.
We thought this would be a good spot, because in the winter, when the mountains are covered with snow, all the animals come to lower elevations, and Sasquatches will follow.
Mary Carrigg is gonna be waiting for us not far from where she saw the thing, in daylight, come down the hill.
Well, for me, where she sees this large animal running down this ridgeline, she pauses, and then it's running alongside the car.
One of the key things for me in determining her credibility is the specific spot where she says it has happened.
It's in Molalla.
There's a lot of other credible ones here, so hers could be credible, too.
- Nice to see you.
- Nice to see you guys.
So, this is the scene of the crime, so to speak.
Yes.
Right there is where I seen it.
I was coming around this corner right here, and that's where I saw Sasquatch.
And it was running down that trail.
And then it crossed the street.
And then it ran along the bank.
And I was past it, like going 60.
As Mary recounted her story, I just can't believe the animal's acting in this completely unsasquatch manner in its movements, in its behavior.
Nothing about this story sounds like the normal Sasquatch stories that I've heard.
So psyched to go to a recent sighting location.
So, this is only a week and a half old.
You get kind of a feeling for it, you know? You look back, see what it was looking at.
Those guys seem real earnest.
They didn't seem like they were b.
s.
Ing, like they were just telling the truth.
They had the print, so Yeah, they have a print.
That's the most important thing about this case, to me at least.
We're blown away that these kids documented their encounter so well and actually got a cast, did the measurements.
I mean, you don't see that.
We get thousands of stories, but very few documentations, though.
It was a week and a half ago.
The thing could still be around.
So that's where we were going.
Oh, so this is the area? This is it.
Right around here.
We were casting these glowing bobbers around, and pretty much, it started with a rock getting thrown.
All the sudden, we hear two loud, real faint screams coming from the opposite direction.
So, then my other buddy, Nolan he takes the light and he starts scanning real slow.
He goes, "Hey, guys, I see.
Look at this.
" Two eyes about it was up a little bit higher than us slowly move behind that tree.
And the coloring on the eyes was amazing, too.
Never really seen anything that color.
It's tough to explain.
And how large they were, also.
Really round, kind of far apart.
About, I would say, that far apart.
They see these eyes, and they have a different glow.
They've never seen this kind of reddish-amber glow before.
And these guys are outdoorsmen.
They've lived here their whole lives.
They fish all the time.
I'm certain these guys aren't trying to pull one over on us.
It's just they don't know what they have.
We got some pictures.
We actually have some pictures that we took.
Oh, wow.
Oh, that's the cast in the ground, huh? Yeah.
That is the cast that we actually took.
There it is.
There's the bad boy.
The $20 bill for scale.
Look how big that is compared to your hands.
Yeah, it was huge.
They don't call them little-foots.
Nope.
Right there is where I seen it.
So, another witness who was there at the meeting was a lady named Mary.
She had a sighting near the Molalla River also, but hers was in daylight, and she saw this thing come down the side of the hill.
And for a section of road that she was driving on, this thing was actually paralleling her, running along the road.
And it was running down that trail.
So, when you saw it, it was clear enough up there and you saw movement coming through and you decided to stop and watch to see what it was? I knew it was Sasquatch.
I was a little bit skeptical about Mary's sighting.
They usually won't show themselves in the daylight, and the idea of one running down toward her car and running alongside it in broad daylight that doesn't happen very often.
And you're seeing it move along, and you decide to shoot back.
It's jogging like this.
I come flying by it.
Sasquatch is supposed to be so graceful, and this animal is curtailing down the hill in this jogger, bouncy style? I can't find anything in it that makes me believe it's possible, let alone credible.
It reached out and it grabbed that branch right there.
The one that's broken and laying down? Yep.
And you saw it snap that branch.
Yep.
I watched it snap that branch.
I stood there next to that tree and saw fresh damage.
The damage done to that tree was not 9 months old.
That I know for sure.
Mary, fantastic story, but without me having seen what you saw, I'm left with doubts.
As she was telling us where she saw the thing, it seemed almost too fantastic.
It would have passed her close enough, she could have reached out and touched it.
So that whole thing was unusual, and that's probably not what she saw.
You guys did a good job.
Yeah, great job.
Way better than average.
Our next step was to put Brady and I in the same position as the original fishermen were, and then Bobo and Rusty stayed on the opposite bank to try to duplicate the Sasquatch's movements.
It was right there? Yeah.
Right where Bobo is standing.
That's where we spotted it the eyes.
Wow.
No wonder you couldn't see anything.
Yeah.
Very hidden.
I'm gonna use two red head lamps to simulate the eyes, and you can tell me how high up they were and how far apart.
Good idea, man.
Good idea.
Yeah, they started low and then raised up.
And then they disappeared behind the tree like that.
And the next time I saw them, they were about 8 feet to 81/2 feet off the ground.
That looks good.
That looks really good.
Okay, put them at about 81/2 and then go to your left.
Even just trying to walk normal was impossible, much less if you were holding something up, like reflectors in the air or trying to hold something level.
It was impossible.
No human on earth could do it.
And then up the bank and then disappear, never taking his eyes off us the whole time, though.
That was the creepy thing.
Bobo stumbled.
He pushed down substrate underneath him.
He fell to his knees more than once.
It is a very difficult place to navigate.
They are not hoaxsters.
So, how was I? How was he? It was pretty similar, but there was still stuff a little off.
Was I as graceful and smooth? No, that was much more smooth and graceful.
It looked like it was floating, almost, the way those eyes moved through the woods.
You have a cast, which is awesome.
That in context with the screams and the knocks, I would say that I strongly believe that you guys encountered two Sasquatches that night the one that you saw the eyes shines for and also the other one that was screaming from upriver.
Well, we're going deep into the heart Clackamas County.
And Clackamas County has more bigfoot encounters reported than any other county in Oregon.
Orey, Steve, and Mark have agreed to meet us out at the Molalla site to kind of show us around and tell us the story again.
Basically, these guys used a rabbit for, I guess, live bait, for lack of a better term.
They put a rabbit in a cage.
Then they hung glow sticks on the cage and around the cage.
They basically set up an opportunity for Sasquatches, who are very curious by nature, to come in and check things out and see what was going on.
I've got to tell you guys when I heard this story rabbits hanging from a tree, glow sticks galore, bunch of guys probably in their camper with beer I'm thinking, "No way.
" I like the idea of live bait to lure an animal in, but the story just got weirder and weirder for me.
I just want to know what happened with the bunny.
I've done a lot of bigfoot work out here.
I've heard calls out here.
They're still around, for sure.
This is a great spot to have multiple encounters.
So it's kind of lent some credibility to their story.
Oh, yeah.
This is 'squatchy as heck.
- How you doing? - How's it going? - Good.
- Good to see you.
Thanks for meeting us here.
Yeah.
Thank you very much.
So, this is where it happened.
Yes.
Basically, it started in this camp.
My family before had had a rabbit out there.
And we thought it attracted the bigfoot.
And so I figured, well, if we had a rabbit of our own, put a glow stick so we could keep an eye on it, put it 6 feet up in the air, we'd have a good look at it.
We could see it.
We could film it.
I'm looking out the window, and I seen him pass through the camp.
And so, I told my friend Steve here, "I dare you to look out the window.
" Looked out the window.
The rabbit starts running around really fast.
It's like, "Something's out there, you know?" See a shape of this big, huge hand going right in front of that cage really slow.
It comes back again.
And the glow sticks worked, because with them hanging on the trees, you could see anything go past the tree.
We decided to try out this technique ourselves and see if we can obtain proof of bigfoots here in the Molalla corridor.
Set up a bunny rabbit in a cage with glow sticks and then do our regular sounds and see if anything responded and came around to check out the cage with the rabbit in it.
Hi, little buddy.
I'll see you in a while.
The rabbit's up in the cage in the tree.
We've got glow sticks all around.
It looks amazing here.
This is definitely gonna draw some attention tonight.
Oh, yeah.
We'll be able to do back-and-forth knocks and do some howls.
We'll stay here for a little while.
We'll see what happens.
- Do you have a radio, Bobo? - Yep.
Okay, let's go.
Matt and Bobo went to one side of the camp.
Cliff and I hunkered down on the other.
We all had the bunny within a line of sight.
Each of the two teams had thermal-imaging cameras, so we could look for any movement, any heat signatures throughout the campground.
Okay, we're back up by the vehicle.
I'm gonna do two howls right now.
Okay, roger.
I'm gonna wait after your howls and reply with a couple knocks.
Roger.
- Ready? - Yeah.
I got the bunny on here.
I don't want anything to happen to my little bun-bun.
I'll tell you if he's able to come in there and grab that bun-bun without setting off the alarms, then I'll be happy he took the bunny instead of us.
But how far do you think we are, Ranae, from the cage? 75 yards? I'd say, at most, 60.
Whoa.
Shine it.
What is that? Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa.
Dude, are you filming over there? Yeah.
Whoa.
What the The glow sticks are moving under the cage.
Yeah, the bunny's circling.
Bunny's circling.
Bunny must have that must be the rabbit.
I think he just shifted in his cage, 'cause the glow sticks went nuts for a minute.
Yeah, I saw that, too.
One of the things Steve and Orey told us is that right before the Sasquatches showed up, the rabbit in their cage was running around in circles, panicking.
So when we saw the rabbit cage going wild, we were kind of wondering, "Well, maybe there's something there.
" You heard that, right? Yeah.
Clear as day.
Did you hear two knocks? No.
Check the flare.
Check the flare.
You guys, we got three undeniable tree knocks here.
Let's go back.
Okay, we're gonna head back in your direction.
Hey.
So, what happened? What'd you hear? Yeah, what was that? I definitely heard knocks tonight.
There could very well be a Sasquatch very nearby right now.
But it doesn't seem to want to come in.
I think what we should do is come back tomorrow, start looking around, figuring out the lay of the land and where we want to go.
Well, sounds like we have a plan for tomorrow then.
Yeah.
I like it.
Let's get bun-bun home.
Yeah, he's sleeping with me.
So, last night, we heard tree knocks.
That's a very good indication that there's at least one Sasquatch in the area.
And it's exactly what we were hoping to hear.
So, today, we've come back and brought our entire bag of tricks.
First off, we're gonna try a technique called sound blasting.
We have a pretty good vision right here, so the trees aren't gonna absorb much of the sound at all.
Yeah, especially when they're pumping 500 watts.
Yeah, it's gonna be intense.
We're gonna use Orey's recording, which was recorded along the Molalla River here.
That Sasquatch might still be here.
Yeah, it might be hearing its own voice blasted out there.
We used recorded howls of a bigfoot, and we blast those out with a very powerful speaker system.
If a bigfoot is in that valley and it hears those sounds, it'll respond to those sounds, and very often, it will approach toward that sound.
Okay, so, you guys are gonna head down the road and try to find a place to listen.
Once it gets a little darker than this, what you're gonna do is radio in your location using our two-way GPSs.
We'll let loose with a blast.
You stop, take out the parabolic.
We'll radio, signal each other, and we'll let her loose.
You guys are gonna head down that way.
That's good, because I'll tell you somewhere between here and there, there's a bigfoot out there.
Because the terrain here is so forbidding, if we hear a Sasquatch in the distance, it might take a long time for it to approach us.
So what we'd like to do is approach it.
But we need to do it quietly.
All right, Bobo, you want to see how quiet these things are? Hell yeah.
So, what we're gonna do is use some electric motorcycles.
These bikes make almost no noise compared to regular motorcycles.
We'll be able to use these to approach the sound that we hear, get there quickly, and we may actually surprise one as it's coming up one of the logging roads trying to get to us.
Technology is finally catching up with the Sasquatch, and it is thrilling to be on the crest of that wave right now.
That's us.
That's Bobo and their position.
Yeah, good.
Ranae for Cliff and Matt.
I got you, Ranae.
All right, we are in position.
Bobo's got the parabolic out, so let 'em rip.
A parabolic microphone is like a big ear.
This will allow you to pinpoint the direction the sounds are coming from.
So we can hear things that we wouldn't normally be able to hear.
All right.
Here we go.
I can hear it good.
Spooky.
We are still in a prime location.
We're hearing them.
Now we're gonna go and listen.
Radio silence, please.
Roger.
It's behind you! That's a 'squatch.
I heard that clear as day.
Clear as day.
That was crazy.
Ranae for Cliff and Matt.
We just heard a call behind us.
Why don't we get our triangulations, get our compass readings, and let's triangulate this.
I heard it at 7-fiver.
That's 7-fiver.
According to the triangulation, it is like a half mile to your west.
It's almost right on the road.
I'm gonna do a call.
That's a 'squatch.
I heard that, too.
We heard some of the best howls that we've heard in a long time.
It was nothing other than a Sasquatch.
Just heard another call.
That came from the area you just came from.
I can't see Cliff, but I can sure hear him and his excitement.
I don't know what those other howls were.
I feel electric.
I would say move that direction, be stealthy.
Let's see if we can get this thing on therm.
Those calls came from here.
I want to see if something comes.
Let me get a bit ahead of you.
It's really slick right down here.
I'm so blind from this thermal.
Where is the trail? Right here.
It's right down there.
Is there fungus or something down there? Uh, no.
I don't know what it is.
It looks like a urine spot.
We go down there.
There's this huge urine mark down the trail.
Ranae's saying, "It's an elk.
" There's no elk tracks anywhere near it.
It was just on this super-steep hill.
It was steaming fresh.
I've looked at urine through the thermals before.
This thing could not have been more than 10 minutes old.
All right, I'm down for heading back up.
All right.
This steaming-hot, fresh urine was right where we just got some fresh 'squatch howls, and there were no elk tracks there.
I don't know if it was a 'squatch or not, but there was a pretty strong correlation.
As you can tell by your GPS unit, I'm about a half mile or so directly to your east.
We're gonna be moving slowly in your direction.
Let's see if we can get this thing on therm.
Let's just go halfway.
We're gonna go halfway and we're gonna stealth.
Over.
Let's go.
We moved toward each other, hoping to push the Sasquatch and maybe catch it in between us.
Okay, I'm not seeing anything around.
Here, Cliff, I'm gonna look up on the hillside, hoping as we go along, something's gonna get curious about what we're doing, and it'll try and parallel us, not thinking that we can see it.
That would be the best, 'cause we could get one in motion, not just peeking out from behind a tree.
There's the road up there.
Yeah.
Let's get up here on the road.
It'll be a little easier walking.
Oh, I got something glowing up there.
Whoa, whoa.
What do you got? Stop.
Whoa.
What is it? That's them.
Or else there's two Sasquatches standing there.
We saw each other on the thermal scope and figured out that there wasn't gonna be a Sasquatch in between us.
Hey, hey.
Did you like those howls? I got them recorded, but I don't think I was pointed right at it on the first ones.
So, think about how many times we've been in these situations, where we've heard howls, heard knocks, we haven't got it.
This time, we came in.
We brought everything.
We must have three different recorders that have those howls on it, and they're gonna have them clear.
This investigation in Oregon was awesome.
We got to hear some sounds one night, and then we heard the coup de grace on the last night really clear response howls along the Molalla.
Hearing those howls told us that Molalla was every bit as good as we had always heard.
We came to Oregon to investigate the McKenzie footage.
I know it's a great spot.
We went to Bigfoot and Beer, met a bunch of witnesses, and, boom, there's our cluster at the Molalla.
No surprise.
So we go up there.
There's tracks.
There's a sighting only a week and a half old.
We get audio.
I've been on tons of investigations.
To go somewhere, and in one week, you record good audio recordings of multiple animals calling, I mean, there's something out there.
They're 'squatches and they're here and we got some evidence.
We came, we 'squatched, we recorded.
