they will hit Tenerife.
They will wash over the island
on every side
and hit each other,
canceling each other out,
which means that this spot here
will remain in sort of a shadow
from the volcano up high
and the tsunami from the sea.
This is It's not up in the mountains.

and it's right there.

[Sara sobbing]

- [crackles]
[man in background] Hey, who else is here?
[grunts]
[brooding music playing]
[reporter] In the Canary Islands,
the destruction from the tsunami
is massive.
West Africa and Southern Europe
have also seen massive damages.
[reporter 2] All along
the eastern coastlines
of both North and South America,
people are bracing for impact.
[reporter 3] The civil guard and military
are doing everything they can
to locate and rescue
the remaining survivors.
[reporter 4] The images suggest
this is the largest natural disaster
we have ever experienced.
[reporter 5] Though the extent
of the damage is unclear,
we are receiving messages and pictures
of the tsunami's devastating effects.
We do know the destruction is enormous.
From coastal areas in West Africa,
South America, the USA,
and, of course, Europe.
With so many people
and such a vast area affected,
we now face a catastrophe
that will leave a lasting impact on us.
- [sighs]

some reports.
Looks like everybody that made it
to the safe spot has survived.
[hopeful music playing]

[laughs softly]
[sniffles, clears throat]

[muffled voices in background]
[Sara sobbing]
[emotional music playing]

that turtles are older than dinosaurs?
[Marie, chuckling] No, I didn't know that.
[Erik] They have a knowledge of this earth
that we don't.
[Marie] Like what?
[Erik] They know they have to do something
when it's no longer safe.
So if we're gonna survive
as long as they have,
we need to start listening.
[Marie] To what?
[Erik] To nature.
