He just comes on a little too strong.
[popping noise.]
- oh, my god! - And derek and jess christened the oasis.
But he also had eyes for someone else.
- Given the opportunity, at some point, Absolutely would pick samantha.
- Threatening a rock solid relationship.
- Mike and I definitely have a bond That's not going anywhere anytime soon.
- At the couples' choice ceremony - Would you like to stay with jess? - Derek had a guaranteed switch and could've stolen sam.
But in the end - I think I'll stick it out And see what happens.
- He stayed with jess.
- I will stay with this guy.
- Jessica miraculously agreed to stay with jason.
- As messed up as that may sound, It would give me time to maybe connect with someone else.
- Miles reunited with his one true love, heather.
And when steele finally had to make a choice He bailed on poor kym, and scooped up erica.
So adam and kym were the odd couple out.

- Tonight I felt very selfish choosing steele, 'cause I knew that kym wanted to see where that was going.
But honestly, there was nobody else up there That I felt an inkling of connection for except steele.
I feel horrible every time somebody goes home.
Especially when I take their freaking partner away from them.
- Elimination was rough because I had to let kym go.
But in the end, I guess I'm just more intrigued by erica.
So I'm really looking forward To getting to know her a little bit better.
- I'm still happy we were able to get back together again.
- Yeah, I'm totally pumped.
There's seven couples remaining.
And I'm glad that I'm back with heather, you know.
I think we're really alike.
And we can laugh and joke around.
And I think that's important.
- There's just that really great chemistry.

And that's been something I've been missing for a long time.
And miles makes me feel that way.

And I don't wanna switch partners.

And we've got strong feelings for each other.

At the same time, I didn't really know what to expect Because I really don't know her that well.

Out of all these guys, this was the first time I was completely comfortable with someone.

And then the night only got better.

It was great.
And I was just fortunate that she took a liking to me.

And I'm going to get her breakfast And take it to her in bed.
She did it for me, so that was really sweet.
And some little sweet thing like that goes a long way.

I don't know where this' going, But there's obviously something there Or we wouldn't keep choosing each other.

- I woke up this morning, And I kinda wanted to do something for jessica, But I'm supposed to, you know, slow it down.

I was trying to catch you when you were still in bed though.

And based off her reaction, I guess she thought I was coming on too strong again.
Which is what I was trying not to do.
That was not the response I was going for.
- I'm like, "what are you doing?" No, 'cause you were just sitting there.
I've told jason, I'm not the kind of girl That likes to be shown all of your cards.
And if you're not gonna give me a challenge, Then I'm not gonna stay interested.
And he did the exact opposite of what I told him to do.
- Did I see jason carrying some flowers this morning? - Dude, I said pump the brakes, and he freaking floored it.

Welcome to your next adventure.

- It's gonna be a toughie.
I really hope none of you are scared of the dark Or tight spaces for that matter, 'cause there's plenty of that.
Here's how it's gonna work.
In this area, we have seven maps and seven letters-- One for each couple.
That's your first task.
Track the map and the letter down, And then follow the instructions on the map To find a second map which will lead you To a more challenging task.
And then onto the end of the adventure, Where you'll meet me.
As always, the first person there Wins a night of luxury at our oasis.
And you'll be safe from elimination.
And as an extra, we'll be sending you On an fun outdoor activity Which is an intimate fishing trip.
For everyone else, it's off to the cabins.
- Darren's instructions were so vague.
I mean, we really had no idea What this adventure was gonna be like.
- So are you guys ready to do this? All: Yeah.
- On my mark Three, two, one Vamos! - It's in the bush or trees.
- Go, go, go.
- So steele and I get to the ladder at the exact same time.
And he turns around and runs in the other direction.
So I shrug my shoulders And just get to work taking the ladder down.
- Oh, [bleep.]

- What? I had it! It's a rope ladder.
- Yeah! We just gotta find another one.
That one's gone.
- I didn't realize it was a rope ladder.
I was looking for an actual ladder And proceeded to be like, "what the hell is this?" And I kept walking.
[laughing.]
- Yes! Wait, we have to read it.
Okay, "map one--pick up your ladder and carry it "two miles to the point where you enter a stream bed.
"turn right, your next map will be in front of you.
Have fun.
" - Got one.
- You do? - Yeah.
- Yeah, bring it up here.
- You wanna read it? - Yeah.
You good? - Yeah.
- Jason definitely wants to win this to go to the oasis And somehow try and fall in love with me or something.
And I wanna win so I can get a chance To pick a different guy.

- You see it? - Yep.

- It's really tied on here good, samantha.
- My main concern at this point is keeping mike and I together.
We're wasting time.
And if derek wins first place, He could pick me and break us up.
And mike could end up going home.

It's a long challenge.

- In the beginning of the adventure, Jason was definitely very, very talkative.
- You look like such a little girly girl, With the nice clothes, and pretty make-up, And the big smile - Okay, yep, mm-hmm.
- Isn't it crazy that's someone's home right there? [chuckles.]
- It definitely started to aggravate me.
- [chuckles.]
- Jason is not just walking on a tightrope, He's walking on a piece of floss right now with me.
- Breathing okay? - These hills are killing me.
- I'd say comparing my stride to her was Like a horse compared to a beetle.
Come on.
Are you that tired already? - Ben is so competitive.
So I feel a lot of pressure to perform, like, perfectly.
- You'll be all right.

- Heather's a trooper on the adventures.
I can tell she's got that competitive drive in her.
We shot right past ben and brandee.
And just the fact that I know that she's willing To push herself, that really means a lot.
- I got my city power walk on.
- Map.

- See it? - Right here.
By the bush.
- Oh, here it is.
- Oh, my god.
It took us forever to find this ladder.
But when I spotted it, steele didn't even see it Until we walked up to it.
[snorts.]
"pick up your ladder and carry it two miles "to the point where you enter a stream bed.
Turn right, your next map will be in front of you.
" - Next map.
- Oh, nice! Okay, read it-- oh, jeez.
- "first put on your helmet and harness, And carry your ladder into the depths of the cave.
" - "use your ladder to climb down onto the lower cave floor.
"head toward the sound of the waterfall "to locate a stone idol.
"put the idol into one of your backpacks "and climb up the old bamboo ladder Beside the waterfall to an exit above.
" - Let's go.
- Derek, I'm afraid of the dark, so just keep that in mind.
- Okay.
- Let's go.
This is so cool! Oh, my gosh.
- This is ridiculous.
So we get to the cave, and we're pumped up.
- Ah! - I'm loving it.
It's like, you know, being a little kid again.
- My god, are you looking at this? - This is amazing.
- This is my favorite adventure.
- Slippery? Yes, it's slippery.
- Yeah, it's definitely slippery.
- Once we enter the cave, it's dark, it's wet.
We have to duck under rocks, we gotta slide through rocks, We have to go over rocks.
- Ow.
- This is amazing.
It's like exploring The undiscovered, you know.
- Yeah.
- This is where it gets tight.
- Okay.
- Are you okay? - Yep.
Going through the cave is a little scary.
It's just such a confined space.
But when I'm nervous about something, Mike has this calming effect that makes me feel better.
- Careful.
Keep your head down.
I think in my everyday life, I'd probably be A little bit timid about entering a cave.
But that's one of the objectives to this whole experience Is that you walk through some fears-- Whether it be meeting someone of the opposite sex, Or some of these adventures.
- You got it? - I got it.
And then it came to the point where we had to use the ladder.
- Oh, there you go, that's good.
- We did that real quick.
- Okay.
- They said it's under the waterfall? We needed to find an idol.
We didn't miss it, boom, grabbed it.
We're up the ladder.
- Last night, he wanted to switch.
That sort of, like, threw me off Because we do so well in the adventures.
But is this just costa rica And all these cool things that we're doing? Or is there actually something that's deeper? Oh, my god! - Like the garden of eden.
Look at this deal.
- "check out of the cave and look for the horse pick-up area "where you must pick up only one horse, not two.
"this means that only one person is allowed to ride at a time.
"follow the path across the river, "and ride to the designated horse drop-off area.
"from here, it is a short dash into town, Where you will finish inside a bar!" Oh, my gosh! We have to get the white one.
- Come over to this side, get on, Then I'll undo it.
- Derek was really nice and let me ride the horse.
It looks really strong and it looks really pretty.
And we're naming it freckles.
We are such a good team.
Are we good? - Once we got into the cave, The whole point of it was to collect this stone idol.
I don't know what the hell an idol is.
I've had something go wrong at some point On every adventure.
It's not good for my reputation around here.
- This! It's like, anything that could go wrong with him does.
It's, like, thank goodness he's pretty, you know? - Uh, hold onto that.
- Okay.
I thought you told me to let go of that.
- Don't pull it back.
Just hold onto it.
The horse basically feels when you are in charge.
And if you're not in charge, he's not gonna follow you.
It's kinda like a woman.
- Oh, my gosh.
It's really important to me to have a guy that can Make me laugh and can keep me entertained.
And ben can-- he definitely does that.
- [laughing.]
- Whether it's good entertainment Or bad entertainment, he keeps me on my toes.
- I'm not trying to stop, like-- - I know, I'm just saying.

The horse is stopping.
Like, I'm walking the same speed and it slowing me down.
We try walking the horse It doesn't wanna move.
- I try pulling it, the horse doesn't move.
What the hell's going on? Like, why don't you wanna go? And now we're gonna get passed up by ben and brandee.
- Oh, look, we're catching up.
- Oh, yeah.
- Uh-huh, she's also a bit of a bitch.
It was just annoying.
If you could punch horses, I'd punch the horse.

[loud neighing.]

Apparently freckles is afraid of the water.
I think I'm gonna get off.
- She got scared of the horse When we were gonna cross the river, And I jumped on.
The only thing I'm focusing on now is first place.
I'm gonna do my best to get there.
[loud neighing.]

- [groan.]
Once I hop off the horse and said, "you know what, We're just gonna walk the horse across the river," The horse decides it wants to have a mind of it's own.
- Okay, okay.
Wait, wait, wait.
Wait, wait, wait, wait.
[bleep.]
[groans.]
- [chuckles.]
- We're on one side of the river, It's on the other side, and what are we gonna do? I screwed up, bigtime.
And now she's pissed.
Dumb.
- We have to get that horse.
We set off, and we're chasing after the horse.
It feels like the costa rican gods are against us.
- There's a horse following us.
- That'sJess and them's hor-- - holy cow, what if-- - She must've fallen off.
[neighing.]
- Ah.
- Uh-oh.
- All right, well - Let's go.
- My first reaction was it threw jessica off the horse.
And I was kinda a little worried.
But we were in a competition, so [chuckles.]
I was just like all right.
[loud neighing.]
- Something seriously wrong with this horse.
Once we found the horse, I was like, "thank god.
"somebody's listening to me in this world.
"I'm gonna be okay.
We're gonna make it to the finish line.
" - Jessica told me, this is just not working out.
And she wasn't talking about the horse, She was talking about me.
I am just in a really bad place right now.
- We made it.
- Yeah.
We made it! [giggles.]
Derek and I knew at that point we were gonna be first place.
You're a champion.
We drop off the horse.
Tie up freckles, say our good-byes.
And at that point we can run to the bar, Which was the finishing point.
- Number one.
- [giggles.]
Oh, wait, that's the bar.
- Hola? - Hola.
- [giggles.]

- Yes.
- We won, man.

People can't know that we really actually Like each other a lot.

- For winning the adventure, The reward was the fishing trip.
So we're gonna fish And just really have a good time.

We showed up at the lake, The kayak seemed a little small.

- I think we struggled a little bit getting situated.
