Announcer: Tonight on "Mobbed" Go, babe, go.
A woman with a shocking secret.
I've been hiding from my mother the fact that I have a son who's six years old now.
Now a young boy's hope hangs in the balance.
You're gonna meet your grandmother.
(Cheering) As we confront our most unpredictable mark yet.
My mother is really intense.
Sahara's afraid that her mother might just say, you've been lying to me.
She could just shut us down right there.
Can the power of the mob bring this family together? - Ready for the surprise? - (Crowd cheering) Or will the truth tear them apart? I just pray that my mom's reaction in front of a lot of strangers.
Can I have more energy from you? - This is a tough lady.
- Marlena, are you lying? Oh, she's getting upset.
This is not gonna end well.
My name is Sahara Hill and I'm 33 years-old.
I would like your help to apologize to my mom and my aunt Regina, I've been hiding the fact that I'm no longer married to my husband.
And I need to tell them that I have a son who's six years-old now.
It started with my husband and I having problems.
And when you're Supposed to be grown up and an adult, you don't want your family to worry about you.
I was literally ashamed to really tell my family what was really going on.
I would hope that they would Forgive me, really.
- That is crazy.
- It's a really crazy story.
She had a child six years ago.
She was in a situation where her marriage was coming apart.
And she was just hoping to be able to salvage her marriage.
When that didn't happen, she never delivered the news that she was having a baby.
Wait.
They didn't Okay.
The first nine months, they didn't notice she was pregnant? She never lived in the same state as her mom.
So nobody knew.
You talked to her on the phone, right? Yes.
Did she discuss what her mother was like or Yeah.
She said she was very opinionated, which I think is one of Sahara's apprehensions, you know, that her mother definitely gonna give her - a piece of her mind.
- That fact that she's living like this and living this lie, and that the son doesn't have a grandmother, there's no way not to do this.
Which kinda brings me to the next step.
How can we meet the mother? Did she say that her mother has any interest or anything that we can use to try and get her on tape? Yeah.
They actually are huge fans of game shows.
Me, too.
Me, too.
So we can bring them out saying that we're on a game show? Do they travel? Have they been to California before? Um, I'm not sure.
I don't think they have.
This could go really bad for them.
But this is one that has to be done.
My biggest concern with this story is there possibly could be a backlash.
What is that backlash? She'll never have a mother to speak to again? Or this little boy will never meet his grandmother? That's my biggest fear.
My name is Sahara hill and I'm from Georgia.
I have three children.
My oldest justice.
And seven year old, Tatiana.
And Donovan.
This is your grandmother, Marlena.
And you're gonna meet her, Donovan, for the very first time.
- I'm going to feel excited.
- You are? It's gonna be nice, isn't it? My husband wasn't there for me.
We were together for ten years.
He was working during the day and out at night constantly.
He was never home with us.
My marriage was just crumbling and I was embarrassed.
I talked to my aunt Regina every day.
I talked to my mom just about every day.
And I adore them.
I love them.
But after not telling them about the issues within my marriage, I felt like how can I tell them about Donovan? How can I even explain to them anything? My mother is really intense.
She's the one that I really have to worry about.
Really giving me the cold shoulder.
She would ask, well, why would you let yourself get pregnant knowing that you guys are having issues? It's time for Donovan to meet all of his family.
- Right, Donovan.
- For the first time.
For the first time.
I hate really not telling them the truth Because I know Donovan deserves better.
Howie: All right, Ish, I've got a mission for you.
Sahara's mother and her aunt love game shows.
- Okay? - Okay.
So we're gonna bring her to Los Angeles thinking that she's in a game show.
But here's the thing.
We found out that they have never flown before.
So you have to go there and you have to make sure they get on the plane.
Apparently, they are afraid to fly.
So if they don't get on the plane and they don't show up, we have no show.
So Ish, the entire show - is up to you.
- Awesome.
It's my job to try and convince them 1, to fly and 2, keeping this secret that we're doing mobbed and not some game show.
- Hey, sis! - Hey.
Hey.
We're off on our first plane ride.
Oh, God! Whew! Don't mention airplane.
I don't wanna hear it.
We are not looking out any window.
Can I put my coat over my head? Oh, lord.
What am I gonna do? I say, please help me.
It's gonna be fine.
These women are really tough.
And I'm totally stressed out.
If I don't get them on a plane, there's no show.
Ain't no way I am gonna fly.
Nah-ah.
A lot of pressure.
Everybody's counting on me.
And it's coming down to the wire.
Not me.
I ain't flying anywhere.
- Marlena.
- No! Howie: Sahara told us that her mother or her aunt have never been on a plane.
So we just sent our producer, Ish, to them.
The gotta get on that plane.
- It's gonna be fine.
- You've got to be kidding.
No! Ish: How was it? Marlena? We're here.
We got you to L.
A.
So we just landed.
And these two women are impossible.
Um, Sahara's gonna tell them about Donovan and about her divorce.
And I'm actually scared.
I'm genuinely concerned for her and how this thing's gonna turn out.
We're here at universal city walk.
We're planning on where we're gonna kick off the mob.
And we're gonna start in our fake production office with our fake game show.
Toby: So we can bring her in here and do a pre-game show interview - or meeting - Why? You know, I know a little bit about game shows.
And we do that.
- You know that? - Does that happen? - That does happen.
- Yes.
This is where we - do our secret camera ruse.
- Whatever the start is, we want this whole office area to come to life.
We're talking about using office stationery as your precaution - to kick things off? - Can I just say that this is the season when lighting people nest.
(Laughter) I wonder which one is the mother.
(Laughter continues) The mother has probably left the nest to go get food for the baby lighting people.
Let's continue.
I digress.
We're gonna take her from here into this theater where they'll be a performance going on and they're gonna interrupt it.
- So this is our theater.
- Will there be a show going on? Yeah.
We can create a little show.
Once we get into the theater, we'll have probably 150 mob waiting in the audience.
We'll have showgirls on the stage sort of electrifying.
What song are we thinking about? Stand by me.
That's what we kind of talked about.
So let's go out to where our biggest portion of the mob is gonna be.
We come here, we're gonna have Sahara right here waiting.
This is the area where she'll stop and tell her mom that she's not happily married.
Yes.
Well, here's the issue.
If she doesn't react well to the first piece of news, we lose her.
The next section is when she's gonna meet the grandson.
What if she tries to storm off? Yeah? Sahara's afraid that her mother might just say, you've been lying to me.
She could just shut us down right there.
Ultimately, we're dealing with real people and real lives.
And, you know, there's a little boy here who is so excited to meet his grandmother.
But will he? And how will she receive him.
On song two "I haven't met you yet" Michael Buble.
We want to line whole bunch of the mob Hand shaking.
They're gonna extend their hands and say, I haven't met you yet.
Are you being serious? No, it's not funny.
No.
No.
No.
No touching.
"I haven't met you yet" is a song.
And they have everybody shaking their hands.
To me, I am living a nightmare.
No! Hundreds of hands being touched and bacteria being exchanged Anybody can be touched but me.
Okay.
So lots of touching here.
Now we're getting over to where the mob is getting bigger and bigger Come on, everyone.
You see the fountain over there? Here's what we want to do in this fountain.
I know it's not deep, but we want synchronized swimmers in there.
(Laughter) What we're really doing is hiding the fact that we're bringing in her grandson in a giant box.
It's like a gift.
We're giving this gift.
Whether a six year old is gonna stay in a giant box I don't know.
Do you deliver children in a box? Does somebody have Angelina Jolie's phone number? I wanna find out how children are received.
Honey, the children are here.
You open the box, Brad.
And that's it.
Da, da, da, da.
- Do you like that Howie? - I think I like it.
Like together.
Here we go, seven eight (Music playing) - Tabitha, it looks good.
- Thank you.
Sahara's about to come in.
I'm gonna go meet her.
And we're gonna actually put her through what her aunt and her mother are gonna go through.
We're gonna make them the mark so she feels what they're gonna feel like.
We haven't even told her the idea yet.
- Oh.
Oh.
- This is the first time.
And we're gonna meet the kids.
Okay.
Lots of things.
Lots of things to do.
Hey, listen.
She has secrets.
Why can't we? Come on, now.
- Hello.
- Hi.
Sahara.
I'm Howie.
- Hi.
- I'm Donovan.
You're Donovan? I'm so thrilled you're here.
Everybody, I'd like you to meet Sahara.
- Hello.
- Hey.
So you know, we're gonna do a big surprise.
You're gonna meet your grandmother.
Okay.
We built a big box, like a big surprise box.
And what if we put you in the surprise box? And when they open the box you're there.
No! My brother won't like that.
He might be stuck in there forever.
No.
He won't be stuck in there forever.
I promise.
Just for a couple of minutes.
What do you say? - Yeah.
- (Cheering) That would be cool.
Wouldn't that be cool? - All right.
Let's do it.
- Let me ask you a question.
- Do you know how to Dougie? - Ah-huh.
Let me see your Dougie.
(Laughter, cheering) How cute is he? Donovan.
I mean, he's a superstar.
How can you not look into that little boys eyes and just open your arms? Everybody falls in love with him.
How can his grandmother not? So everybody thinks that they're coming out here for a game.
- A game show, right? - Uh-huh.
So what's gonna happen is we're gonna set it up so that you fill out forms for the game show.
And then at a certain point we're gonna say to them, there's a problem with the paperwork.
Your paperwork isn't matching up.
We'll say to your mother, how many grandchildren do you have? It's not matching up.
You obviously filled out the right information.
They have the wrong information.
Somebody's not telling the truth.
And then they're gonna say, Sahara, you need to come with us.
And you say to her, you know, mom, whatever happens, I want you to stand by me.
As soon as you say that, the brilliance of Napoleon Tabatha take over.
no, I won't be afraid I don't know what to say.
Just the I'm speechless.
(Cheers and applause) I just can't put into words how much I really appreciate all of this.
Then they open up the box and everybody falls out.
Oh, my God.
Now come here.
Come to your grandmother.
And what are you gonna say? Hello.
My name is Donovan.
Yeah.
And Who are you? I'm your grandson.
- Nice to meet you.
- Nice to meet you.
Nice to meet you, too.
(Cheers and applause) Howie: Your mom's gonna melt.
And everything you've ever been worried about will just fizzle away.
- I hope so.
- Pardon me? She will.
Are you okay? I think there's more that could go wrong in this one than ever before.
There's probably a thousand two thousand people here and there's a go time.
Your mom's gonna be here at nine o'clock.
And there's no stopping it.
And there they are at the door.
Oh, my gosh.
Tabitha: Okay.
Standby all music.
We're here at universal.
We have 10 hours before it's go time.
Da, da, da ch-da Our performance starts here in this production area.
Then we go into the back area here which is actually a theater where we'll have the mob performing.
The only way to exit this building is actually to come through here again.
So it's boring to bring her back through the production office.
So creatively, we had to figure out what it could turn into.
Let's get you in positions.
Ready? So we have about forty seconds to transform our production area into a huge masquerade ball.
Howie: Napoleon and Tabitha, they came up with a theme of the masquerade ball.
Which speaks to the fact that Sahara has been masquerading for the last five years for her mother.
James: When we do the reset, we will basically put the wall at that end and roll out the linoleum to it.
Then we have 14 banners.
So we've got to get those out as well and get them all set up and distribute them.
So we can create I quit.
This is the first time we've actually had to create an entirely new space while we're in the middle of our performance.
The problem is that we literally only have 40 seconds and one take to make it happen.
Three, two, one go! And, stop.
You're a minute long.
We just did our first time rehearsal and it came in a minute thirty.
That's not good.
We've got to time everything up and a minute thirty-two is even worse.
So we've got some trimming to do.
And we're gonna try it again.
And we're just have to keep going until we get it down to 40 seconds.
When we're done, when we're done, ladies Most of our time today has been spent on trying to figure out how to flip that room.
I can't believe that we have to do the exterior, we have to do the song, too, the cafe, the escalator, the choreography the mob has never done yet to that song, swimmers, specialty act, and the reveal with Donovan.
- How are you not stressed? - I'm not stressed.
Men.
Come on, everybody.
This is where it's gonna start.
Okay.
Are you excited about the flash mob? - Who's the flash mob? - A flash mob is when a thousand people here at universal will just start singing and dancing.
And you meet your grandma.
- Is he hiding in the box? - He'll be in the box.
Is that to me, thumbs down? Do you not like me? Wow.
- Look how cute they are.
- (Laughing) Let us roll again.
- I found my mob! - (Cheering and applause) A big part of today is just welcoming the mob.
They all come out.
They're anxious to learn and participate and hear what the story's about.
So, for the past six years, Sahara's family does not know that she has been divorced - and has a six year old son.
- (Gasping) So that's what we're here to do today, is to help Sahara get this news to her family.
All right? So it's very important.
Here we go.
Five, six, yell it loud.
Stand by me Thank God there's two of us.
Now Polly and I have to totally split up.
While I'm upstairs teaching mobsters, he's in the theater working with the showgirls on the second part of the performance all right.
Back from the top please.
In this room, we're gonna have a faux performance going on, with a couple of rockette-style dance girls and a room full of audience.
The big key he is timing.
Coming through the doors has to happen on the perfect music because it's got to interrupt the performance.
The lighting has to be perfect.
The lights have to go off on stage, on our mark, get their reaction.
Once they're feeling just uncomfortable enough, we're gonna hit the lights back on, bring this place to life.
All together.
One more time Ready? Go! Whenever you're in trouble won't you stand by me are we gonna be able to do the halls with this? Yeah.
It's ready to go.
That is so cute.
- (Gasping) - That's so cute.
I look like a big man.
You do look like a big man.
Six, seven eight One, two, three one, two, three You gotta keep dancing.
You got to stay in step.
Bigger.
Bigger.
Bigger.
Bigger.
Jump.
Jump.
Jump.
Jump.
Man.
I would imagine many, many nights you've laid there thinking, I got to get this off my shoulder.
I have to tell them.
And now today, there's probably two thousand people here and there's a go time.
You're mom's gonna be here at nine o'clock.
And there's no stopping it.
It's I just want her to hear me and just to listen.
I just want to tell them that I'm sorry or Just not being truthful with them for such a long time.
Howie: Can I have everybodys attention please? We are 15 minutes away from the real mob.
Vic: Marlena, the mom and Regina, the aunts, are on their way with Sahara.
They are about to find out these huge secrets.
And we don't know what's gonna happen.
Whew.
Let's go.
Five, four, three, two, one There they are at the door.
Ut-oh.
Oh, no.
Hi, ladies.
Can you come here.
Which one's the mother, the one on the left or the right? We're gonna get you some Mike's and then we're gonna do a little work with you, okay? Thank you.
She doesn't look happy to be here.
How could she not be happy to be on a game show? Thanks, folks.
Okay, I will keep in touch with you The girls are getting ready.
I can't focus.
I can't focus.
I cannot focus.
First of all, I just wanted to let you know what we're doing here.
We're gonna do a little on-camera prep, okay? 'Cause when you get on the show we want to make sure you're comfortable.
- Make sense? - Yes.
I could see you are just thrilled.
Look at the excitement on that face.
She's not saying a word.
All right.
Let's go up here and do some work.
Okay? Come on up the stairs.
This is not gonna end well .
St look at her.
I want to see how excited you can get.
Imagine you just won really big.
So let's start with Sahara.
- Yea! - All right.
I buy that.
Mom? Oh, my gosh.
This is a tough lady.
- Oh, my God.
- Okay.
I wanna see all of you crazy excited.
You won the biggest thing you could imagine.

In unison: Yay! Okay.
Yay.

I need to talk to him.
I need to take Sahara out.
There's a problem with her paperwork.
Sahara.
We had a problem with your paperwork.
I just need to take you to my office so we can figure it out.
- We'll figure it out.
- Okay.
All right.
Whatever it is, just stand by me, okay? Okay.
She said, stand by me.
Come down here.
We'll do a little talk.
So we set the seed.
At some point in the show, we're gonna ask you to introduce yourselves.
So I'd like you right now to say your name.
And, I'm a contestant on it pays to tell the truth.
Hi.
My name is Marlena and I'm a contestant on it pays to tell the truth.
(Laughter) Oh, my.

Can I have more energy from you? Just a little more fun with that.
- Let's do it one more time.
- Okay.
- Okay, go ahead.
- I'm sorry, ladies.
I need to steal Vic for one more second.

We're getting close.
Excuse me, ladies.

- Hold, Ish.

It appears that someone's been a little dishonest - with their paperwork.
- Who? Either you, you, or your daughter.
- Like what? What you mean? - I need you to tell me.
I need you to tell me.
You're saying Sahara has two kids and a husband.
- Is that what you're saying? - Yeah so what's dishonest about that? - Get ready.

There's one more thing which is an even bigger piece of news.

- Of course.
(Cheers, whistles and applause) Hi.

I wanted to say something.
That this was the most important thing to Sahara.
She loves you so much, and respects you so much, she didn't want to disappoint you.
