but we are training them
to be a group, not solo artists.

before our first piece.

to a public audience.

We did auditions

We ended up bringing
the last six trainees into the program.
A lot of the great vocalists
came the second half of the casting.

Our target demo is going to be young,

The audience will always judge
by what they see in that brief moment.
A mistake on camera could ruin everything
that you did work for
for a very long time, right?

The girls have to feel confident
and comfortable

whether that's in person or online.
Once we've introduced

What I've noticed
in this month's evaluation
is that we have a serious problem.
It's important to understand the lyrics,
to study why an artist
does something on stage,
and to think about their motives.
You can't merely be copying what you see.
You really need to dive deeper.
But I couldn't feel any of the effort,
and I was really angry.
Anyhow, as you prepare
this cover performance,
I hope you can reflect
on your mindset and attitude,
and really think about
what I'm telling you in rehearsals.
Son was really upset
because he felt like
they were more focused
on being cutesy or charm
versus the technique
and execution of our K-pop covers.
I felt like he even
was reading it as disrespect,
you know, to his craft and to something
that he's highly invested in,
which is K-pop.
They need this level
of feedback and honesty
because everyone sitting there
is just trying to make them
the best of the best.
I don't think Daniela would have been
as amazing as Daniela was today
if she didn't get that feedback
two evals in a row.
This month
we had so many different choreographies,
different songs.
It was my first time
doing group dances and

I'm very associated
with, like, my Chinese side.

a whole traditional Chinese dress.
We're having to
imagine 20-some girls,
all from all around the world,
feeling in sync.
Uniformity while celebrating
all their individualness.
Anything we do with them,
the desire is to have them
feel like they belong in the group.
I mean, the goal for the uniform
is this idea of an academy.
Something that feels consistent?
Yeah. Our interpretation
of how the girls can first be seen
and set this tone.
My mom has been
a huge inspiration for me all my life.
This is my mom, the wonderful Wendy Leon.
Everyone knows her as "paupau,"
so people call her Paupau Wendy.
She's funny, she's super vibrant,
and she has incredible style,
and that informed me and my clothing.
I just like all the upcycled stuff,
like this, that, and this.
It feels like the girls' personality.
Uniforms are a staple in K-pop.
It creates this neutrality,
so everybody is equal,
and really what you see is their skill set
and their personality and their charm.

Moving on.
What everyone will see first,
is we'll see the press conference.
So we'll meet the girls,
They'll be in the uniforms.
And I think there's super fun ways
to embrace the uniforms
within the merch world.
We're doing patches and things,
which could be easy.
But, like, everything
that the girls will be wearing
will be possible ways
of buying into the girl group.
We talked about the brand deals
and all those pieces
that we'll be able to make something
the girls wear that we'd wanna sell.
It is interesting to see
how many brands are coming to the table
when a group hasn't even been formed yet.
The last thing
we're gonna present
is basically
the introductory video to the girls.
It's a fictional narrative
that is based on the girls.
So it's the first piece of information
that the world will see.
I mean,
this should be a marketer's dream.
There's already this runway.
If we can't break this artist,
and also at the talent level
and what we're putting into it,
we should all get different jobs.

and sacrificed so much
to get to this point,
and now we're kind of getting to go time.
A year ago, we would have not thought
