Planning on Love

[audio logo]
[theme music]
What if your parents teamed
up with all of your friends
and neighbors and set you
up on three blind dates
back in your hometown?
Leighann's about to find out.
(SINGING) This is
our year, ooh, ooh--
I'm Ashley Williams, and
this is Small Town Setup.
I'm here in Roswell, where
I'm going to be helping
Debra and Kevin
Elliott find love
for their daughter, Leighann.
Love is coming out
from behind the clouds.
Or is that ragweed?
Leighann Elliott is a dedicated
wedding planner in Florida.
She's helped dozens of brides
find their perfect love,
but has yet to find her groom.
(SINGING) 'Cause
you got a
heart-beat Movin'--
We're about to dive into
an adorable adventure
filled with romance--
She's gonna want
somebody good looking.
Of course.
ASHLEY WILLIAMS:--hope, and a
hefty dose of small town magic.
[cheering]
Is it possible that he's
right here in Roswell?
Is he under this bridge?
Hello?
[laughs]
[upbeat music]
KEVIN ELLIOTT: I think
we're ready for our guest.
You always look like
a million dollars.
KEVIN ELLIOTT: I think
we're rOh, thanks.r guest.
[doorbell ringing]
- Hi.
- Hi.
(LAUGHING) Hi.
Come in.
I'm so happy to meet you.
I brought you a cake from
the Roswell Baking Company.
Have you been here?
- Oh my gosh.
This is lovely.
Just peach, our favorite.
Oh, good.
Oh, I'm so glad.
I'm Kevin.
And I'm Debra.
We're trying to find love
for our daughter, Leighann.
Get up.
Yeah, you got this.
Hey, bud.
So, first of all, I
think he might like you.
[laughter]
- Just a little bit.
- Heck, yeah.
How long have
you been married?
34 years.
Wow.
And still in love.
KEVIN ELLIOTT: Still in love.
DEBRA ELLIOTT: Yes.
ASHLEY WILLIAMS: So
Leighann grew up with two
incredibly loving parents.
Tell me a little
bit more about her.
DEBRA ELLIOTT: So Leighann
owns her own wedding
and event planning business.
Leighann has always
been a planner.
She probably overindexed
on getting that ready.
Now the career is
off to the races.
Right.
ASHLEY WILLIAMS: So she can
kind of focus on other stuff.
She can step back and think
about Leighann a little more.
Lindsay's your
other daughter's name?
DEBRA ELLIOTT: Oldest.
ASHLEY WILLIAMS: Oldest.
And she's the one
who's getting married.
DEBRA ELLIOTT: Yes.
ASHLEY WILLIAMS: So Leighann
is planning Lindsay's wedding?
DEBRA ELLIOTT: Yes.
ASHLEY WILLIAMS: Was she
always kind of enamored
with the idea of true love?
Did you see that?
- Yes.
ASHLEY WILLIAMS: And what does
it feel like to know that she
plans weddings for
a living but hasn't
gotten married yet herself?
It's hard.
I mean, she has to
think about that.
Who wouldn't?
I know she thinks, when's
it going to be my turn?
KEVIN ELLIOTT: For
lots of holidays,
we've taken a family
cruise together.
Our oldest brought her fiance.
Daughter number three brought
her long-term boyfriend.
But Leighann didn't
have anybody to bring.
DEBRA ELLIOTT: Kind of hurts
your heart a little bit.
ASHLEY WILLIAMS: And what about
past long-term relationships?
Has she dated anybody
significantly?
KEVIN ELLIOTT: I
think we probably
wondered if it was the best
match for either one of them.
DEBRA ELLIOTT: She
got her heart broken.
ASHLEY WILLIAMS: How long
did this relationship last?
I think maybe a
little over two years.
OK.
She just opens her heart to
everyone, gives to everyone,
and so we want
to help give just
maybe that little extra boost
eto get her back on track.e,
After all, she is sunshine, and
she deserves to have that back.
ASHLEY WILLIAMS: What are
the men like down in Florida?
Down where
Leighann is, you have
ASHLEY WILLIAMS: What are
younger people and then older.
And it's kind of in-between
age where Leighann is.
There aren't that many there.
I think what Roswell
offers is a wider selection.
I think the whole
Therarea attracts a young, re.
professional population.
I agree.
What are the traits
that you would look
for in a partner for Leighann?
I think a partner
for Leighann
will have some self
for confidence, humility.hann?
Humility.
Kind.
HCaring
Affectionate.
What about a job
or an income level?
- Definitely a job.
- Oh.
Yeah.
ASHLEY WILLIAMS: [laughs] OK,
you'd like him to be employed.
DEBRA ELLIOTT:
Yes, like dad does.
Somebody that's on the
road to financial stability--
Yes.
- who understands the role
of a husband in a family.
DEBRA ELLIOTT: He has
to love the beach.
KEVIN ELLIOTT: [laughs]
DEBRA ELLIOTT:
That's a must to be
involved with Elliott family.
We do like the beach.
KEVIN ELLIOTT: We've
often told the children,
if you marry somebody we
like, we can have a lot of
fun together.
[laughter]
So somebody that loves
them madly, then she
can look high and low.
She'll have a hard time--
Oh.
[laughs]
- finding people who
love her more than us.
Oh.
You tell me what the
lplan is for tonight
KEVIN ELLIOTT: Well,
we've asked some
of our friends and family--
Some of our closest
friends, family.
- to join us.
And we're gonna talk a little
bit about what the mission is
and what we're going
to work on together.
I'm so excited to
see where this goes.
I'm excited, too.
We are.
[uplifting music]
It's close to magic
It's where it could be
ASHLEY WILLIAMS: OK, ready?
1 2, 3.
That's locked.
[music falters]
Uh-oh.
[quirky music]
Let me help you!
Not the warm welcome we
were hoping for, was it?
Come on in.
Welcome, welcome, welcome.
- Thank you.
Com- Hi.in.
Hi.
- OK, but you're Lauren?
- Yes.
OK, good.
[laughs] OK, now
I'm getting it all.
Hi.
How are you?
Come on in.
KEVIN ELLIOTT: Thanks
for coming, everybody.
Nice to see you guys.
Find a seat, huh?
Come on in.
Get cozy.
Thanks again for coming.
All right.
We're so excited to help
Leighann find love in Roswell.
[cheering]
OK, so this is a
really big deal.
So we're surprising
the wedding planner.
She's helping
plan your wedding.
Yes, yeah, It's
kind of surreal.
I'm happy to get to plan
something for her in return.
ASHLEY WILLIAMS: Aw.
That's really sweet.
[applause]
It's great to see so many
familiar faces out here.
Leighann's a fireball.
It's great to see so many
famShe's a go-getter.re.
Got that real
adventurous spirit.
And she's done great.
She left Roswell years
ago, went down to Florida.
The one thing that
hasn't happened--
Huh.
Talk to us about that.
[laughter]
Where she lives, wonderful
people down there, and I'm sure
people find their soul
mate down there every day.
It just hasn't happened
that way for Leighann.
Can you talk to me a little
bit about a potential match
for Leighann?
She loves fun.
She loves the beach.
Beach is important to Leighann
and our family, obviously.
Yes.
Beach is one of
the family values.
Yeah.
DEBRA ELLIOTT: It's like,
you have to like the beach,
or you can't be in our family.
[laughs] OK.
KEVIN ELLIOTT:
or yoAdventurous spirit.amily.
Adventurous spirit,
outgoing, loves to have fun,
loves games, loves family time.
KEVIN ELLIOTT: Self-confident.
- Oh.
Yes.
Yet humility.
A solid career.
DEBRA ELLIOTT: Yes.
She's gonna want
somebody good looking.
Of course.
[laughter]
Of course.
Do you have like a
preferred age range?
We've been thinking 28 to 40.
That's a generous range.
[laughter]
OK.
It's great.
I think it's time
for all of you
to start to think who might
potentially, possibly be
a fun, interesting person for
Leighann to go out on a
to start to think who might
potentidate with?ibly be
Does anybody have any ideas?
[gasps] We have a nomination.
So tell us, who do you
think could be a good match?
[gasps] We haOK.a nomination.
His name is Dakota.
He's a hunk.
He's 6' 4".
Yes, and he is a
personal trainer.
Oh.
DEBRA: He played
college football.
Very into family.
And now he is
ready to find love.
And I would throw in there
that he does like to travel.
I was gonna say,
does he like the beach?
He likes to travel.
DEBRA ELLIOTT: He
likes to travel.
OK.
- OK.
DEBRA ELLIOTT: OK.
[applause]
Do we have anybody else?
All right.
Me.
ASHLEY WILLIAMS:
Come on up here.
We've known the
Elliotts for 10 years.
I'm gonna nominate Ben.
Ben.
MARYPAT: Ben is also very tall.
Financial planner.
KEVIN ELLIOTT: OK.
Very stable.
Ooh, that's helpful.
MARYPAT: Loves the beach.
KEVIN ELLIOTT: There you go.
MARYPAT: And most
importantly, loves blondes.
[laughter]
[applause]
ASHLEY WILLIAMS: Oh, I see an
enthusiastic hand up over here.
Come on up.
[applause]
Who are you nominating?
I am proud to nominate my
brother, Michael Courtney.
He owns his own business.
I am proud to nominate my
He's a software developer.
He loves the beach.
We used to go to the
beach all the time,
and he used to always
just look into the sky.
We just always wondered,
what are you looking at?
And I really think he was
thinking about your daughter.
Oh, that's good.
[applause]
All right, do we
have anybody else?
Come on up.
Who are you nominating?
LAURA: I'm going
to nominate Andrew.
He is from a small
family, but would
love to be with someone
with a larger family
He is from a small
that he could be a part of.
And handsome.
That was my question.
Is he handsome?
LAURA: Handsome.
ThaDo you have anyon.
idea about his career.
He's an artist.
ThaDo you have anyon.
A starving artist or a--
LAURA: No.
[laughter]
He is a tattoo artist.
KEVIN ELLIOTT: Oh, really?
DEBRA ELLIOTT: Oh.
OK.
ASHLEY WILLIAMS: So I
need all the nominators
to bring your potential suitors
to Canton Street tomorrow.
And in a couple of days,
we're gonna watch Leighann
go on these dates live.
[cheering]
I just want to thank
you all for coming out.
This was really,
really special for us.
We can't Thank you enough
for taking time for us
and for mainly Leighann.
Let's go, Roswell.
This place is awesome.
[upbeat music]
So what y'all think
Leighann's gonna
think of the plan?
I think Leighann's
gonna be excited to be
here because she's coming in
for wedding dress shopping.
I think when we let her
know the other reason
and what we've done,
that will be interesting.
You think we're in trouble?
Maybe a little bit.
Better y'all than us.
Hello.
Hi.
Welcome home.
It's so good to see you.
Happy birthday.
LINDSAY ELLIOTT:
How was the drive?
LEIGHANN ELLIOTT: It was good.
Y'all excited about
the big weekend?
Engagement party
and dress shopping?
Yes.
LEIGHANN ELLIOTT: Lots of
big things this weekend.
Sunday we have your
wedding dress appointment.
I'm curious to see what
you guys picture me in.
That will be a
dadless activity, right?
DEBRA ELLIOTT: Yes.
[laughter]
You two girls, can we just get
a minute alone with Leighann?
LINDSAY ELLIOTT:
Sounds like a plan.
We'll see you later.
So what's going on?
Y'all wanna talk
about Saturday.
So[playful music]n?
YDEBRA ELLIOTT:k
Actually, Mom and I
have something else to share.
Dad and I've gotten together
along with some friends.
KEVIN ELLIOTT: We
had a gathering,
and they brought forth
some names of some people
that they thought might
be a good match for you.
For you to go on a date with.
I'm at a loss for words.
We are just trying to help.
This is all absurd and crazy.
Deep breath.
[quirky music]
KEVIN ELLIOTT: You've
been a busy lady.
You started your own business.
I understand that.
My love life hasn't become
top priority lately.
But it sounds like
y'all [laughs]
My love life hasn't become
think you found a match.
But it sounds like
y'[laughter]s]
DEBRA ELLIOTT: Roswell's
crawling in guys.
So let me hear, when you
were on this manhunt, what--
what you thought that
I wanted to find.
So let me hear, when you
were on Adventurous., what--
KEVIN ELLIOTT: Outgoing.
Outgoing.
Likes to travel.
Where am I going
on these dates?
What am I doing?
Like, when does this start?
KEVIN ELLIOTT: Your
dates are tomorrow.
DEBRA ELLIOTT: [laughs]
Are you even a
little bit excited?
I'm terrified.
[laughter]
I think my parents feel the
need to help me find love,
because clearly what I'm
doing is not working.
Thanks for understanding
what we're trying to do.
All right, well, I guess
I'll give this a try,
so let's go on some dates.
You hear that, Roscoe?
They're trying
so lto find us a dad.ates.
Or you a dad.
[laughter]
Scratch that.
No dad, just a date.
[upbeat music]
Well, big day.
DEBRA ELLIOTT: Big day.
I'm excited to meet these guys.
KEVIN ELLIOTT: Oh, right here.
- Hi, girl!
Come here.
- Andrew.
Andrew.
- I'm Kevin.
- Nice to meet you.
- Nice to meet you.
- Thanks for coming.
- Hey, how are you?
Y'all have a great time.
We'll talk later.
Love you.
Bye.
OK, see y'all.
Bye, Andrew.
ANDREW: Bye.
So I'll just jump right
in with some questions.
Sure.
So I'll just jump right
in[laughs] Fire away.s.
How would you
describe yourself?
I'm involved in the
art world, painting,
so that has a really
significant place in my life.
I'm curious.
[playful music]
I'm a curious person.
I'm excited about
discovering what life is.
OK.
KEVIN ELLIOTT: That sounds
like some deep thoughts.
Do you consider
yourself a deep thinker?
I don't know.
We do see Leighann
wanting a family.
Do you see yourself with a
wife and a family one day?
Yeah, something
there, but I always say,
it kind of depends
on the person.
So I try not to think
too much down the road.
May I take your picture?
Yes.
Thank you.
Love it.
- Thank you.
Nice to meet y'all.
Thank you.
DEBRA ELLIOTT: He
was super cute.
Hey.
KEVIN ELLIOTT: There she is.
Hey, I'm Kevin.
Hey, Kevin.
Ben Logan.
Nice to meet you.
DEBRA ELLIOTT: I have
a question for you.
How do you feel
about the beach?
Oh, I love the beach.
Did grow up around
natural water.
What's kept you
from finding a wife?
[quirky music]
That's such a hard question.
[laughter]
That's the plan.
I spent a long time focusing
on my career, I guess,
the past nine years.
I wanted to get somewhere where
I could take care of somebody
and provide that
financial security.
You want children?
I think that's certainly
where my life is headed.
OK, awesome.
I think that's certainly
whJust sit right here.d.
Well, thank you so much.
I think that's certainly
whYes, thank you both.d.
[upbeat music]
LAURA: Hey, guys.
So good to see you.
So this is Dakota.
- Hi, Dakota.
How are you?
He would be absolutely
perfect for Leighann.
We'll talk later.
OK.
I'm good.
I'm very good.
How are you guys doing?
DEBRA ELLIOTT: Good.
KEVIN ELLIOTT: Well--
[quirky music]
So in four or five
words, describe yourself.
I would say
loyal, kind, caring,
passionate, competitive.
Competitive is a big one.
I'm a former
football player, so--
Awesome.
What about travel?
My favorite place to
travel is the beach.
I'm a huge beach guy.
My favorite place to
traThere you go.ach.
KEVIN ELLIOTT: So
five years from now,
My favorite place to
where do you see yourself?
KEVIN ELLIOTT: So
It could be running a gym.
Awesome.
So what are some things
that you guys could
tell me about your daughter?
DEBRA ELLIOTT: She
owns her own business.
She's a wedding
and event planner.
DEBRA ELLIOTT: She
So she loves love, I assume.
DEBRA ELLIOTT: Loves love.
[laughs] Can I take your
picture before you go.
You absolutely can.
Let's do it.
DEBRA ELLIOTT: Thank you.
Awesome.
Nice meeting you.
I'm a hugger.
DEBRA ELLAwesome.ank you.
I'm a hugger as well.
[laughs]
[upbeat music]
KEVIN ELLIOTT: I'm
betting this is Nick.
Hello.
Pleasure to meet you.
Debra, right?
- Hi.
Yeah.
Nice to meet you, Nick.
- Nick, I'm Kevin.
- Absolute pleasure.
- Thanks for coming.
- Absolute pleasure.
Thanks for having me.
- We appreciate it
Well, I'd love to
learn about you.
I've managed a
few bars in Atlanta.
I run their beverage program.
I get to travel
with the company.
From Atlanta, went to
college at Georgia Tech.
I'm a Tech guy, too.
Go, Jackets.
From Atlanta, went to
colGo, Jackets, man.ech.
DEBRA ELLIOTT: [laughs]
When did you get out?
Oh, long--
Just a couple of years ago.
- time ago.
Do you feel like
Just ayou're in a spot ago.
where you are or are heading
towards financial stability?
I do live very comfortably,
but it's not my end goal.
I understand.
Yeah.
Yeah.
DEBRA ELLIOTT: May
I take your picture?
Absolutely.
DEBRA ELLIOTT: Awesome.
I tThere you go.ure?
Thank you.
Absolute pleasure.
Have a good day.
Well, now we're
gonna meet Mike.
Have aHi.od day.
KEVIN ELLIOTT: Hey,
how are you, Mike?
I'm Kevin Elliott.
- Nice to meet you.
Nice to meet you as well.
Do you think about
a family one day.
Yeah, absolutely.
What kind of person would
make a good partner for you?
MIKE: Somebody that
can match the eagerness
to explore, to learn new
things and adventure.
I really appreciate that for
somebody who has ambition, who
knows, like, hey, I just
found something I think
is really cool.
I want to go and do that now.
And then they actually
follow through on that.
Do you have a
passion about career?
IT management and security.
My goodness.
Big field.
Yeah.
Can you tell me a little
bit about Leighann?
Yeah.
She's very adventurous.
She'll hop in a
kayak or a boat.
Yeah, she's not
afraid to try anything.
MIKE: Awesome.
DEBRA ELLIOTT: Can
I take your picture?
Yeah, absolutely.
KEVIN ELLIOTT:
Looking good, Mike.
There you go.
There you go.
Mike.
- Thanks.
- You as well.
- Thank you very much.
Have a good one.
- You as well.
- [uplifting music]ch.
LUKE ELLIOTT: Hey.
What's going on?
What are y'all doing out here?
LINDSAY ELLIOTT:
Just hanging out.
LEIGHANN ELLIOTT: Scheming
more things with Mom and Dad?
You know, I thought I was
coming home to celebrate you,
Lindsay, and, I mean,
this is all crazy, right?
LAUREN ELLIOTT: We wanted to
flip the script a little bit.
Since you're
planning everything,
LAUREwe wanted to planted to
fsomething for you for once
LEIGHANN ELLIOTT: I just
can't believe that they've
involved everyone.
A lot of people in this,
and everyone's kind
of in my business.
So that's my concern.
LAUREN ELLIOTT: Yeah, for sure.
LUKE ELLIOTT: Well, the hard
part's out of the way now.
I mean, Mom and Dad
have already met them.
They probably approve
of them if they're
gonna introduce them to you.
Yeah, so these already
have their approval,
goso that's check, right?ou.
LUKE ELLIOTT: Check off.
LINDSAY ELLIOTT: I
gothink that if you reallyu.
lean into this experience
and give it your all and be
the Leighann that we
all know and love,
I think that this could
really be a great experience.
LEIGHANN ELLIOTT: We've gone
through so much together,
and I love getting to be
a part of your wedding
and planning your
wedding with you.
And I just want to give
all my love to you guys
and make sure y'all are
happy and y'all know
how loved you are.
So I think it's
emotional to see that
y'all care about me that
much, too, and y'all want
to see me happy.
I know I like to be the
leader and the planner,
so it's hard to let other
people control my dating life.
And I think I have struggled
with my past relationships,
and I just went through
a rough breakup.
And they know that I'm
guarded, and I think that maybe
and I just went through
I'm not worthy of love.
So maybe this is their way
of trying to get me back
in the dating scene
and show how much
they love and care about me.
I think it's just hard for
me to express my feelings
and-- but just know
that it's appreciated.
We love you more than life.
[laughs]
[upbeat music]
Great day.
KEVIN ELLIOTT: Yeah.
Great guys.
OK, so first we had Andrew.
KEVIN ELLIOTT: That
guy, big heart.
I think he's still
searching for where
KEVIN ELLIOTT: That
he wants to be in life.
Correct.
I don't think I have Andrew
as one of the top three.
DEBRA ELLIOTT: And then we
walked down and saw Ben.
KEVIN ELLIOTT: Yeah.
DEBRA ELLIOTT: Great guy.
Tall.
- Yeah.
Handsome.
Right.
What'd you think
about the mustache?
You know, mustaches are in.
Oh, yeah.
And then after--
DEBRA ELLIOTT: Dakota.
KEVIN ELLIOTT: Big personality.
Super friendly, warm.
Friendly.
Great eye contact when we met
him, you know I like that.
Yeah.
DEBRA ELLIOTT: Then
there was Nick.
KEVIN ELLIOTT: Oh my gosh.
DEBRA ELLIOTT:
Look at that smile.
KEVIN ELLIOTT: Yeah.
What an engaging guy.
That's personality.
Big personality.
He seemed very confident
in his financial place.
And then--
KEVIN ELLIOTT: We saw Mike.
DEBRA ELLIOTT: Great guy.
What a great career he has.
He seemed very open to new--
DEBRA ELLIOTT: Nice guy.
- adventures.
Quiet, though, right?
Is that kind of--
DEBRA ELLIOTT:
Yeah, more quiet.
- trying to figure out--
- I don't know.
DEBRA ELLIOTT:
It could be nerves.
It could be-- who knows?
It's kind of hard to tell.
Is there one that
stands out the most?
I like Dakota.
There was a sense of
just genuine, I felt.
Is there another one?
I think Ben.
KEVIN ELLIOTT: I could see Ben
at the Thanksgiving Day table.
Yeah.
True.
True.
KEVIN ELLIOTT: I
think that's two.
Now, this is where
it's gonna get hard.
KEVIN ELLIOTT: I
thI don't know.o.
We're in trouble.
So we've got Mike and Nick.
LEIGHANN ELLIOTT: You know,
the one thing about Nick,
I would expect he's working
50-, 60-hour weeks, right?
DEBRA ELLIOTT: Probably.
I woKEVIN ELLIOTT: Thatking
50hospitality business.ht?
I know it's hard.
Just not sure he's the match.
Making me lean towards Mike.
I think we're with Dakota--
Dakota.
- Ben, and Mike.
Those are three lucky guys.
They are three lucky guys.
[upbeat music]
Hey, girls.
LINDSAY ELLIOTT: Hello.
DEBRA ELLIOTT: Hi.
I appreciate y'all being here.
KEVIN ELLIOTT: Nice
to see you again.
Hey.
Thanks for coming.
ASHLEY WILLIAMS:
OK hello, Roswell.
[cheering]
For those of you
that don't know,
Leighann's sister is here,
and this weekend they
For those of you
went wedding dress shopping.
Now, did we find the dress?
We said yes to the dress.
[cheering]
ASHLEY WILLIAMS: Amazing.
OK.
I am so excited
because we are going
to be watching the dates live.
[cheering]
We would like to know who
you picked for Leighann
to go on the dates with.
We chose Ben, Dakota,
and we chose Mike.
ASHLEY WILLIAMS:
So now we're gonna
tune in and watch Leighann
and Dakota in real time.
OK?
[cheering]
[upbeat music]
Silently exciting me
Hello.
So you're the
famous Leighann, huh?
LEIGHANN ELLIOTT: I guess so.
DAKOTA: Nice to meet you.
I'm Dakota.
- Nice to meet you.
- Go in for a hug.
- Yeah.
- How are you doing?
- Good,
Right away, I noticed Dakota's
smile and eyes and, of course,
that he's tall and handsome.
So mom did me right.
All right.
I'm gonna go here quick.
Ooh.
Oh.
[laughter]
They were telling me you own
your own business, right?
I do.
I do.
I have a wedding business.
Yeah.
ASHLEY WILLIAMS: Yes.
DEBRA ELLIOTT: She got it over.
- Yeah, she did it.
Yeah.
ASShe's nailing it.s.
Oh.
ASHLEY WILLIAMS: Whoop.
No, she's not.
[laughter]
[quirky music]
Ooh,
That's all right.
Maybe we won't
keep score today.
Water break?
That'- Yeah.ight.
Good job.
- Nice job.
That was pretty good.
- It was fun.
DAKOTA: You comfortable?
LEIGHANN ELLIOTT: Yeah.
So in your past
relationships,
there's always this question
of, what's your type?
So, like, what is
your type physically?
You know what I mean?
So, like, what is
your typYeah.sically?
Nice hair and nice eyes.
So, like, what is
yoDefinitely height.?
I think athletic.
OK, so athletic and tall.
I thinYeah.letic.
It kind of sounds like--
You think I'm describing you?
Maybe a little bit.
If I had to have a type, I
think you would fit that type.
Yes, I think you
are attractive.
So what's your typical type?
DAKOTA: The girls in the
past that I've typically
found myself attracted to
are blonde, I would say,
a nice smile.
- Yeah.
I mean, the first
thing I noticed was
you had a really good smile.
So you are my type.
You're obviously
very, very beautiful.
Aw.
DAKOTA: What are
some things that you
like to do outside of work?
I'm a water baby, so I like
to be in the water, on a boat--
I hear that.
LEIGHANN ELLIOTT:--hang
out with my friends.
How about you?
I would say it's probably 70%
go hang out with the friends,
but the other time, I
want to just be myself,
hang out with my cat.
I have a cat, by the way.
- Oh, no.
We're done.
[laughter]
It's over already.
Yeah, you're a big
dog person, right?
LEIGHANN ELLIOTT: I
am a big dog person.
Yeah, you're a big
DAKOTA: I do love dogs, though.
I'm a huge dog guy.
I just don't have one
yet because I can't have
a dog where I live right now.
LEIGHANN ELLIOTT: OK.
Gotcha.
So tell me about
you and your work.
I'll always want to
do personal training
because I've always
wanted to make a positive
impact on somebody
and working with
them in a one-on-one setting.
wanted to- Yeah. positive
Do you want to have a
family and kids one day.
Absolutely.
Being the best father
and husband that I can be
has probably been my biggest
goal since, like, high school.
Being the best father
and husbanYeah.t I can be
has probably been my biggest
goal sinThis is crazy. school.
You're, like, saying
all the same things
I feel, so this is a weird--
Well, I mean, I think
that's a good thing, right?
LEIGHANN ELLIOTT: Yeah, no.
No complaints.
I mean, I feel like you and
I have covered conversations
that I sometimes didn't even
have with past relationships
till months in, you know?
that I sometimes didn't even
have wiExactly, Yeah.onships
I mean, I feel the same way.
I feel very comfortable
talking to you,
and I think that it was
super easy to open up.
And I feel like I know
who you are at this point.
Yeah, the same with you.
The first thing I noticed,
though, maybe pickleball
could be something
that you might
The first thing I noticed,
could work on a little bit.
[laughter]
I mean, back at you.
You should probably stay
and practice a little bit.
Well, all right.
Well, I definitely will.
We'll get better
together, all right?
[cheering]
How exciting!
I'm literally sweating.
I'm getting excited.
I feel like she
really liked him.
Next up, we're gonna watch
Leighann and Mike in real time.
OK?
OK.
[applause]
[uplifting music]
Hi,
LEIGHANN ELLIOTT: Hello.
Leighann?
LEIGHANN ELLIOTT: Yes.
Nice to meet you.
I'm Michael.
Hi, Nice to meet you.
Nice to meet you.
Great to meet you.
So, welcome.
LEIGHANN ELLIOTT: Thank you.
This is fun.
Yeah.
[playful music]
LEIGHANN ELLIOTT: I
feel nervous energy
from Mike right away.
Hello, hello.
Hello.
Welcome to Oli and
Vi, We are an olive oil
and vinegar tasting shop.
Olive oil actually is a
Vlot like wine tasting.
You can either sip it, if you
want, out of the little cup,
or you can use the bread.
You can either sip it, if you
want, outThank you.ttle cup,
Are we sipping or dipping?
I do really like bread.
LEIGHANN ELLIOTT: OK,
Arwe can-- that's fine.ng?
Let's do it.
MIKE: Which one are we
gonna try first, though?
LEIGHANN ELLIOTT: Mild.
- Mild.
MIKE: Which one are we
gonna tAll right.though?
OK?
It tastes like olive oil.
[laughter]
MIKE: I am interested to see
some of the different flavors
mixed in.
I saw one over there.
It's vanilla.
[quirky music]
I always default to
vanilla, pretty much.
So great to meet you.
I guess, could you tell me
a little bit about yourself?
I'm from the Roswell area,
went to Auburn University,
then just kind of worked
my way up into starting
my own business, so, yeah.
then just kind of worked
my waMIKE: Awesome.ting
That's kind of
the short version.
Could you tell
me a little bit
about any past relationships,
any interesting stories?
Could you tell
m[quirky music]
I don't think we have enough
time for all my interesting
stories.
[laughs]
[laughter]
Are we going to go down the
line, or do you want to skip?
Let's go for the
biggest change.
OK.
[quirky music]
Whoa.
So I'm a fan of this one.
Do you have any pets?
I do have a dog.
His name is Roscoe.
He's a full mutt, so
a mix of everything.
He's a big dog?
Small dog?
Small dog.
Like, medium-sized.
You have to bend down to
pet him, but he's not tiny.
Sm- OK.og.
- Yeah, what about you?
I've got two cats.
- More cats.
This is gonna be a problem.
[quirky music]
LEIGHANN ELLIOTT: What
are your pets' names?
Grizzly, and then
her sister is Potato.
How did Potato get her name?
She's kind of ditzy.
Mm-hmm.
It worked out, though,
because now if she's
being a little
extra that day, then
I can call her Spicy Potato.
If she's being nice, then
she's a Sweet Potato.
That's funny.
If she's being nice, then
she'That's funny.ato.
Well, this was a lot of fun.
Thanks for--
- Absolutely.
- making it happen.
Yeah.
Thank you for coming out.
Give me a hug.
It was nice meeting you.
Wonderful to
meet you as well.
[quirky music]
He was a sweet guy.
AUDIENCE: Not for her.
OK.
He waAll right.guy.
Well, you know what?
We're gonna get
your comments soon.
[laughter]
Let's move on to
Ben and Leighann.
Everyone ready?
Let's move on to
Ben [cheering]nn.
[upbeat music] I see a storm
that is brewing in your eyes
Even with the wrong directions
We can make it
through the night
LEIGHANN ELLIOTT: Hello.
- Hey, Leighann.
I'm Ben.
LEIGHANN ELLIOTT: Hi, Ben.
- Coming in for the hug.
- It's nice to meet you.
Nice to meet you too.
You ready to paint?
Yeah, this looks fun.
Let's do it.
OK.
So they set us up here.
We have our gear
that we'll need.
I walk in, and I see Ben.
And I'm super excited.
And he has a big
smile on his face,
and he looks like he's
happy to see me too.
We're just gonna throw
some paint at the wall.
OK, cool.
BEN: Now, I gotta warn
you, I'm not very artistic.
I'm counting on you to come
up with a good painting.
BEN: Now, I gotta warn
LEIGHANN ELLIOTT: All right.
We'll see how that goes.
[laughs]
How's it look?
You look fantastic.
Back at you.
You There we go.ic.
I'm gonna let you
pick the first color.
I'm going to do
this green color.
I'll go with gold.
[upbeat music]
Wow.
All right.
Hell, yeah.
I think I got paint
on my head already.
[laughs] You got
me nervous about it.
Oh.
BEN: All right, all right.
It's not common that I get
interviewed by a girl's parents
before going on the first
date, but I love your parents.
They're very enjoyable.
beforeGlad y'all hadfirst
date, a good first date.rents.
[laughter]
BEN: Wanna give
the squirt a try?
Yeah,
1, 2, 3.
[laughs]
LEIGHANN ELLIOTT: That didn't
turn out as good as I thought.
- I think--
- Yours looks better than mine.
I have, like, an eye.
- No way.
- No way.--
- It's right down the middle.e.
That was a bullseye.
You're way more
accurate than I was.
That was fun.
BEN: So you grew up
in Roswell, right?
LEIGHANN ELLIOTT: I did.
I did.
Right after I graduated
Auburn, I moved on to Florida,
and I've been there ever since.
Gotcha.
Well, I grew up
mostly on the lake,
so I do love the salt
water and the beach.
Well, I grew up
It's always a nice time.
Well, maybe that's where
we complement each other.
Saltwater and freshwater.
[playful music]
I don't have a water type.
[laughs]
LEIGHANN ELLIOTT: As
Ilong as I'm near water, e.
that's when I'm happiest.
BEN: Here, give it a
Iloshot and splash me.r, e.
LEIGHANN ELLIOTT: What?
that's - Splash me.piest.
LEIGHANN ELLIOTT: All right.
BEN: Oh, boy.
Don't make me regret this.
[laughs] I'm covering my mouth.
- I'll try to be nice.
BEN: Here we go.
[laughs] I'm covering my mouth.
- I'llYou will?e nice.
[laughs] How do I look?
How do I look?
LEIGHANN ELLIOTT: Good.
Good.
It looks way better
LEIGHwith the pink.ood.
I only got a little
on your face.
Yeah.
- All right.
See?
LEIGHANN ELLIOTT:
You look good.
There we go.
LEIGHANN ELLIOTT:
It looks good.
Perfect.
Of the three art pieces,
which one looks the best?
I think this one.
Number one.
Of the three art pieces,
which oNumber one.e best?
All right, well, I feel bad
I got some paint on you,
so let's see here.
[sweet music]
- Don't lie to me.
How bad is it?
- It's not bad--
if you like pink hair.
There's a little bit
of blue right here.
Yeah.
Ooh.
This is intimate.
What do you do?
So I work in
wealth management.
OK, do you feel
financially stable?
I do.
I think I at least
got to that point
where I can take a step
back and be more flexible.
I'm kind of in charge of
my own day-to-day now.
That's awesome.
So that's a big relief.
What about kids?
Is, you know--
Absolutely.
My parents did a great
job of raising me,
and so I think it's a
very enriching experience
to pass on a legacy,
to have some kids.
So why the mustache?
An uncle that is very
close to me, he's been
a big supporter of what I do.
He ended up with cancer and
having to go through chemo.
And he actually
lost his mustache.
And it seems like a very
silly thing to have a mustache
with emotional meaning.
But he has since
passed, and I'm very
close with my aunt over that.
I think Kevin's gonna cry.
BEN: I like being
that guy in the room.
It's like, hey, guys, you can--
Conversation
starter with the mus--
You can chill out.
Who's the guy
with the mustache?
Exactly.
Exactly.
And that's kind
of a whole look.
Yeah.
And that's kind
of For sure.ook.
Well, I don't hate it.
I just wanted to know.
OK, yeah, that's
the real question.
You've asked.
We've opened the door now.
All right.
So is it love?
Hate?
We've oNo, I'm notoor now.
against the mustache.
The mustache is fine.
I just feel like there
always is a story.
I appreciate
you understanding.
LEIGHANN ELLIOTT: Yeah, yeah.
Have you ever been
in love before?
BEN: No.
I don't think I ever
have been in love.
I find that honestly a
bit troubling at times,
and that's what I'm
working to try and change.
That's why I'm putting
myself out there.
And so I would very
much like to find
somebody that I can spend
the rest of my life with.
Yeah.
I guess you've loved
and had heartbreak before?
Is that right?
LEIGHANN ELLIOTT: Yeah, I have.
So it's hard for me
to let others in.
Well, what did you learn
from your heartbreak?
I think I was one to
put things to the side
and think they'd fix their own.
And I think I learned to
have conversations like this
and be open to new experiences.
I think it's super important.
You got to push each other
and challenge each other
and have these conversations.
Cool.
Well, if we were to go out
again, what would you do?
Maybe like a Braves game
or something like that.
- I could arrange that.
- Yeah?
But hopefully this time, on
that second date, no interview
with your parents first.
[laughter]
LEIGHANN ELLIOTT: Yeah.
No, actually, you're just
gonna go with my parents.
[laughs]
- That's-- [laughs]
No, no, no.
Wow.
[applause]
This was fun.
I really loved him.
They were, like,
really talking.
Like, they really
got vulnerable.
All right, I can tell
that you're a group
with a lot of opinions, OK?
And I want to hear
your opinions.
This is truly, truly about
finding love for Leighann.
So now we're gonna basically
have each one of you come up.
TYou're gonna write downut
finon a piece of paperann.
who you're voting for, OK?
We're gonna come back tomorrow.
We're gonna go
over the results.
We're gonna[cheering] tomorrow.
Isn't this fun?
All right, good.
Come on up.
Isn't this fun?
AlCome on up.od.
[upbeat music]
I'm voting for Dakota.
I saw a side of Leighann
come out on their date,
a really vulnerableness
and openness.
I am voting for
Leighann and Ben.
He seems like a
pretty cool guy.
I feel like the two
of them would grow
He seems like a
well together as time goes on.
Dakota.
I like his height.
Mike.
I just felt like they
had the most in common.
I chose Dakota because did
you not see that chemistry,
those sparks?
Hot, hot, hot.
[upbeat music]
LEIGHANN ELLIOTT: Hello.
[upbeHi.music]
I'm Ashley.
I've been helping your
parents find you love.
So nice to meet you.
Thank you so much
for being here.
Yeah.
Of course.
It's been a fun experience.
- Has it?
Yeah.
OK, I'm dying
to hear about it.
It was a lot to
take in at first.
OK, I'm dying
to heaYeah.ut it.
But it made me kind of open
my eyes, like, OK, Leighann,
maybe you can find someone
that fills that spot in my life
that maybe I didn't
realize I was missing.
What do you feel like in
the past has stopped you?
Do you think it's,
like, protection--
LEIGHANN ELLIOTT: Yes.
Yeah.
- that sort of kept you
from meeting somebody?
LEIGHANN ELLIOTT: I've
been hurt in the past.
I found love, and things
moved super quickly.
And we lived together,
but then it was like,.
do we really want the same
things at the end of it?
It was super hard.
It's easier for
me to put up walls
than it is to tear those
walls down and work
on finding someone again.
[sentimental music]
I just love my family
so much, and I'm
so lucky to have
sisters and a brother
and parents that
do love me so much.
They've all really
tried to lift me up.
But I feel like with
this whole experience,
it's taught me that I
really know what I want
and I should go
for what I want.
I think I'm ready to
have those conversations
and I should go
and open myself up again.
Do you feel like there is
somebody you felt sparks?
I think so.
So you really don't know.
I really don't know.
You're gonna have
to decide soon.
Not to pressure you.
We all watched your dates live.
Oh my gosh.
I mean, is this
We alfun or is this crazy?live.
[laughs]
- It's crazy.
But at this point, I
mean, anything goes.
[laughs]
But at this point, I
LEIGHANN ELLIOTT: Oh my gosh.
So we're gonna go over
to the town hall right now.
The town voted on who they
thought you were gonna pick
after they watched the dates.
Are you ready?
- I think so.
after theLet's do it.e dates.
OK, let's go.
[laughter]
- It's gonna be fine.
- Oh my god.
It's gonna be fine.
It's gonna be fine.
It's gonna be fine.
[uplifting music]
(SINGING) You take me home
Hello, Roswell!
[cheering]
We had a great time watching
those dates yesterday.
So we're gonna let the
one and only Leighann
know all of those results.
And then she's going to show us
who she picked, and he's here.
[cheering]
OK.
Are you all ready
to see Leighann?
[cheering]
Leighann, come on out.
Whoo!
[cheering]
[upbeat music]
Oh, my girl.
[upbeHi.music]
Hi, darling.
ASHLEY WILLIAMS: As you
know, as I revealed to you,
we did watch your dates live.
[laughs]
[laughter]
Kevin, did you get a little
bit emotional watching?
It's possible.
ASHLEY WILLIAMS: Right.
Well--
I hadn't ever seen her,
of course, like that before.
You're just so bright and
so wonderful and so kind.
And just seeing you
representing you was amazing.
You're just so bright and
so wonde[applause]o kind.
This experience taught me
to lean in and open my heart,
and so that's what I did.
ASHLEY WILLIAMS: OK.
It's just great to know how
much not only you guys love
and care about me,
but that I have
so many people in my circle.
[applause]
Would you all like
to hear who you chose?
Are you interested?
[applause]
All right.
We all saw it, the chemistry.
There was some sparkles.
You all chose for Leighann--
Dakota.
[cheering]
Like, what is your type?
If I had to have a type, I
think you would fit that type.
Yes, I think you
are attractive.
So Kevin and Debra,
were you on the same page?
I think we felt that
there were three great guys,
and then we just processed it
a little bit back and forth.
I thWho have youthat
therchosen for Leighann?uys,
Well, I chose Dakota.
[cheering]
I also chose Dakota.
[cheering]
The way y'all
said it separately
made me a little nervous.
ASHLEY WILLIAMS: I saw.
I think we both leaned the
same way from the beginning.
This is crazy.
You're, like, saying all
the same things I feel.
Well, I mean, I think
that's a good thing, right?
Yeah, no.
No complaints.
OK, Leighann, we're ready.
Well, I just want to
thank all of you guys
again for being here and
supporting me and loving me.
It's been an experience, so--
[laughs]
[applause]
So I usually don't cry, and
I've cried like three times
throughout all this.
ASHLEY WILLIAMS: Yeah.
Are we ready to find
out who this guy is?
ASHLEY[applause] Yeah.
OK.
Leighann, call him in.
OK, so my pick was--
[hopeful music]
OK, soDakota.k was--
[cheering]
ASHLEY WILLIAMS: Whoo!
Hey, man.
Bring it in.
What about it?
Oh my gosh.
Bri- Hey.in.
How you doing.
- How are you?
Hi.
Ashley.
Hi.
Nice to meet you.
Hi.
My mom's a huge
fan, by the way.
Oh, she is?
Oh, I love her already.
So how do you feel?
What's this like?
I mean, it's surreal.
It was an incredible
experience.
I loved getting to meet her.
I felt like there
was chemistry there.
Have you ever done
anything like this before?
Absolutely not.
No.
Have you ever done
anythAbsolutely not.efore?
What's it like
to see each other?
It's good.
It's good to see her.
- Yeah, yeah.
- I missed her.
I missed her.
Yeah.
ASHLEY WILLIAMS: You did?
- I [awwing]er.
So how do you
guys feel, knowing
that she was a little bit
reluctant in the beginning?
Thrilled that
she's come home.
And if she's found
a new friend,
that makes it even better.
That's right.
Think it's more
than a friend, Dad.
[laughter]
I think things are happening.
Mission accomplished.
[laughter]
What might be next
for the two of you?
Maybe a date not
set up by my parents--
[laughter]
- and not on camera.
ASHLEY WILLIAMS: Just
so we understand,
because you don't
live here in Roswell,
can you hang out
for a day or two
and maybe have a second date?
Yeah, I can be in town
for a couple of days.
[cheering]
I can make that work.
ASHLEY WILLIAMS: I
think we may have
just secured date number two.
All right.
- Here we go.
Yes.
- Here we go.
All right.
Let's go, Roswell!
[cheering]
I mean, planning
is in my blood,
so I would be happy
to take the pressure
off and plan this next date.
DAKOTA: I want to
pursue something
that we can kind of let this
thing grow a little bit.
It's exciting, though.
Yeah.
It is.
[upbeat music] 'Cause
you got a heartbeat
Movin', movin' like a machine
You're the only man
that I'll ever need
