At Home with the Furys (2023) s01e05 Episode Script

Episode 5

1
Last night, I was on a high
after the Usyk fight.
Had a great party.
Me and Paris were dancing.
It was an excellent night.
This morning, in bed, I got a phone call
telling me that my cousin, Rico,
has been killed.
[Superintendent Ewart]
This is a senseless attack.
Both victims should've
returned home this morning.
[female newsreader]
Rico Burton was described as funny
with a passion for boxing
inspired by his famous cousin.
It was like someone
had took the plug out of me
and me life had come out of me.
Rico had a whole lot of life to live.
And now it's finished.
Shocking news. Shocking.
[Paris] We got a bit of
a devastating phone call
this morning at 7:00 a.m.
Um Tyson's first cousin,
who he was really close to as a kid,
um has been stabbed
and murdered in Manchester.
Tyson's been in an upset mood.
A state of shock, I think.
I knew the boy all me life,
since I was a teenager.
And it's a horrible thing.
Um, Tyson doesn't handle death very well.
He doesn't really know
the normal sort of procedures of life,
and he just handles it in his own way,
so his own way today,
is he's locked himself in the room,
hasn't spoken to us
since he got the phone call.
I think he'd like to be at home right now.
And he can't go anywhere,
'cause he's got something like
1,500 people to go to a show tonight
and to be the cheery, upbeat Tyson Fury
that they've all paid to come and see.
Um, so he will more than likely do it.
I don't know how he does it.
He'll just dig deep and find his space
'cause he is a showman and that is
what they do, rain, sun or shine,
he'll put on a show
and he'll do what he needs to do.
Move your feet then, smelly feet.
-There you go.
-That's the one.
Me dad has always said
all our lives, like,
one phone call
can turn your world upside down.
When I was getting the phone call,
I knew it was bad news.
Do you know, like, your sixth sense?
You know it.
It was 7:00 in the morning, phone call
of me cousin, Justin, which,
he doesn't get out of bed till 9:00
usually on a weekend.
I knew it was gonna be bad news.
I just knew it.
[Tyson] Me and Rico were really close,
we trained at the same
boxing club together.
We used to play up and down
when we were small kids,
hide and seek, building dens.
All that sort of stuff as kids,
we were really close.
Precious Precious moments.
All I know is he's been
stabbed in the neck and he's dead.
There's a lot of cowards out there.
Shithouse cowards who have to use a knife.
Anyone who uses a knife as a weapon
should be castrated.
Or a red hot poker shoved up their arse.
As punishment.
'Cause it's cowardly tricks.
If they'd have went outside
and had a scrap,
someone would have had a busted nose.
Big wow.
This morning, he'd have been
healing a cut up, a scratch.
But now, one fella's in a morgue,
and one fella's getting 30 years
in prison, so what has that solved?
Life is very, very, very fragile.
You go out for a beer,
watch your boxing, wind up dead.
Crappy though that you're just stuck here.
You've got to go and do this show tonight.
And you can't just
do what you wanna do, do you?
You have to do it, it's your job, innit?
You know. It is what it is.
There's not much I can do about it.
So this might be a turning point
in my life, for sure,
with that bit of bad news.
It made me wake up and realize
there's a very short time on Earth.
It's shook me up, to be honest with you.
It's just hell on Earth.
It's terrible, and it's knocked Tyson,
it's knocked me about,
'cause every time I put me head,
I'm thinking about that child.
Tyson doesn't deal with death very well,
but none of us do.
So what he tends to do
is think to himself,
"Life ain't worth living.
What am I doing all this for?"
"Why have I done what I've done in me life
when it can be taken away
in the blink of an eye?"
We're putting brave faces on,
but tomorrow will be a different matter
when we touch down back in the UK.
[Tyson] "Two arrests for murder of
Tyson Fury's cousin, Rico Burton,
stabbed to death
outside a bar in Altrincham."
"The 31-year-old was knifed
outside a bar in Altrincham
shortly after 3:00 a.m. on Sunday morning
and tragically died in hospital
a while later."
It's a shock. Shock.
Shock to the system
that someone so close to you
has been stabbed and killed.
And it made me question my own existence.
And who I am, what I'm doing
and why, sometimes, I get down about shit.
Tributes pouring for Rico
throughout the day.
Describing him as an absolute talent.
I'm probably the most
emotional man in the world.
A crack on the head with a piece of wood,
a lump of iron at your head,
I can take all that.
But when you're messing
with emotional pain,
I'd rather face an army
than face one feeling what death brings.
We're here now.
You'll have to forget that for now.
Do your show.
[crowd chattering indistinctly]
[John] Come on, then.
[Paris] Where's the photos getting took?
Don't know. Not far.
[indistinct chatter]
[John] I can see in his face
he's somewhere else.
He's two different people now.
He's on autopilot.
He don't know where he's at.
When you're trying to see
a job through with a broken heart,
it's very, very difficult.
[camera shutter clicks]
All I see in Tyson's eyes
is despair, unhappiness.
He just wants to say, "I've had enough."
[audience cheering]
[audience chanting] Tyson Fury!
Tyson Fury! Tyson Fury!
[Tyson] Feeling shit,
but I'm putting on a brave face
for the people who've paid for tickets.
Don't like cancelling and stuff like that,
so I'm just gonna go out here now
and do what I do, do me job.
[audience chanting] Tyson Fury!
[presenter] Ladies and gentlemen,
coming live from Spain,
it's showtime!
-[Tyson yelling]
-[audience chanting] Tyson Fury!
[audience cheering]
[Brian] Tyson Fury.
-Get on.
-Get on.
[Tyson] That's an introduction.
Who needs Michael Buffer
when we've got Brian?
Mallorca!
Thank you to everybody
who turned out tonight.
[cheering and applause]
Now, Tyson, how's retirement?
Retirement's been good, you know.
I have been spending a lot of time
with the wife and the kids
and walking the dog
and doing that sort of stuff.
I've had a lot of time to be a father.
Be a husband. Be a son.
However, I've had a real wake-up.
Um
I gets a phone call this morning
about 7:00 a.m.
saying that me first cousin's
been stabbed to death and he's died.
That was a real eye-opener for me.
I've had me blood turn cold
'cause, you know,
you never know when your time's up
and you're only one phone call
away from disaster.
And so it's been a real,
real awakening day that I've had.
I've had that many emotions today.
I'm not really too sure how to handle it.
I'm shocked, to be fair.
Um
But it's not everyone's fault in here.
You people came here to see the show,
but I've had a fucking day from hell,
to be honest with youse.
But you know what,
it's made me realize one thing,
-that life and time is very precious
-[audience cheering]
and it can be taken away
from anybody at any time.
And I'm glad that I can actually
come up here and speak to fans,
or speak to people, meet new people.
And that I actually
can talk here in one piece
and I've not got brain damage,
not getting pushed around in a wheelchair.
So that to me, Brian, that's a success.
[audience cheering]
Thank you very much.
Good night. God bless.
See you on the other side!
[Tyson grunts]
I've had a shit day.
I'm going back, I've had enough.
[exhales deeply]
[Paris] Are you coming in?
I'm starving. I haven't had no dinner.
Come on.
-[Adonis] I'm sharing mine in the car.
-[Paris] Come on then.
It's a worry for me when Tyson
goes quiet and withdrawn like this,
because I know he's hurting,
and I know he's upset,
and I know he feels very low right now.
God only knows
what's going on in his head.
-Did you enjoy being away? Was it a break?
-[Paris] It was all right. Um
It was a rush really,
flying in and flying out.
The first night was lovely,
the next morning he got the call
about his cousin being killed.
Now he's sitting out there,
not even coming in for dinner.
He blocks it all out.
He don't like talking to people
when he's like that.
He's barely spoke two words all morning.
I've got nothing to say to you
honestly about it all.
Honestly, it's wrong time, wrong place.
I don't wanna speak about it
on cameras and shit like that.
I hope youse can respect that.
So if you don't mind fucking off,
you'd be doing me a favor.
[Paris] Adonis, come inside, please.
-No.
-[Lynda] What else was I saying to you?
Yeah, we had the big blowup screen
and we watched the boxing, it was good.
The fight wasn't very good.
He said they're useless,
but now all the promoters
and things are trying to ring him, um,
to arrange another fight and, obviously,
he ain't answering the phone to them
'cause his cousin's been killed.
And at the moment,
his brain's out in space.
So I don't know.
I don't know what's gonna happen.
Promoters rang up yesterday
and wanted to talk business and said,
"Sorry to hear about your cousin."
He said, "That's right."
He put the phone down on 'em.
Right.
So that was that.
I can see people getting photos of him
and I bet
he's in a real pleasant mood about that.
Puts him in a bad mood,
especially in the mood he's in.
He's there trying to sit, have peace
and people coming over
taking photos of him.
We're in it, ride or die.
We've been through some tough times.
We've had some serious tough situations,
whether it's been the kids being ill
or me being in hospital,
or Tyson having his depression times.
We've went through some tough stuff,
we can make it through anything.
-What are you doing? Watching passers-by?
-[Tyson] Yeah.
Can't really hide back here,
in front out here.
Why don't you go 'round the back
and chill out?
At least you'll get left alone.
Let's go. Come on, kiddies.
[Adonis] Mummy! [laughs]
[Paris] Adonis, behave.
Adonis. Stop shouting.
Don't let her put her hands in it.
Ew, that's disgusting fingers,
I've ever seen, Athena.
[Adonis laughing]
The house is just normal,
summertime madness.
The kids are still off school.
Big Tyson hasn't really said
more than ten words to me
in the last two days.
Tyson wants to stick his head in the sand,
I'm letting him
have that moment for himself.
Because obviously, he's still quite upset.
Has Tyson's been on Insta today?
"Biggest fight has to be
the world's biggest money."
"WBC boxing top rank,
if I'm to put all on the line,
boys better get half a bil,
if not a little more."
Hi, guys. To all these suitors out there
who wanna make the fight,
I'm gonna give youse all seven days,
till 1st September
to come up with the money.
If not,
thank you very much, it's been a blast.
So let the games begin.
Boom!
Oh, wow. Wow, wow.
Sounds like Tyson wants a fight.
This man doesn't know
his own brain, does he?
[Athena cooing]
-[sighs] I don't know.
-[Athena screams]
I don't think he knows his own mind,
I don't know if he's
in the right state of mind
to make business deals at the minute.
There we go.
Things change fast around here.
Where's your dad?
There's your dad right there.
There's your dad.
-Hi, Dad.
-[Tyson] What's going on in here?
[Paris] Just a bit of a normal Tuesday.
Want me to make you
a cheese and ham toastie?
[Tyson] Why have you got
a pair of scissors?
[Paris] Who has?
[Tyson] Adonis.
Don't play with scissors,
me boy, it's dangerous.
I've just seen your Instagram post.
Something about getting
all the promoters to get sorted out.
-I gave them a seven-day deadline.
-What's that in aid of?
That's because I can.
If they come up with big money,
we go into training camp for a fight.
Do you wanna do
a training camp for a fight?
If they come up with 500 million.
That's quite a big ask.
I'm quite a big man.
Ow!
Ahhh!
This is typical Tyson
with his decision making.
One minute, he doesn't wanna talk.
Next minute, he's making
big deals on boxing rings
and he wants to be
the heavyweight champ again.
Do you actually wanna fight again, Tys?
Like, could you?
Why do you keep asking
all these stupid questions?
'Cause I've asked,
you've told me three different answers.
If they want me, they gotta pay for me
and I'm not cheap.
I'm the highest-paid escort
the world's ever seen.
It sounded like a good number.
That's why I said 500 million
'cause I wanted
half a billion in one fight.
Somewhere in the world,
someone might wanna see
the undisputed heavyweight
championship of the world
and they might wanna pay half a billion.
If we got
the half a billion off this fight,
we could upgrade your alloys on your car.
We could upgrade to 18 inches from 17.
I'd go do me shopping
in Sainsbury's, not Asda.
If I got another
half a billy for the rematch,
then I'd up it, up the antes,
and I'd go shopping in M&S then.
Come on!
You can see instantly how delighted he is
to be back in boxing talk.
Back, even if he's not boxing,
just to be in the boxing talk again.
You can see the mood lift on him.
He's happy, excited, because he's had
a conversation about boxing.
Do you think you'd still drive the Transit
if you had the half a billy?
Yep.
Why are we so weird then?
I wonder if it is unusual,
the way we live our lives.
Tyson, if you had £10 or £10 million,
you wouldn't live no different.
I'm going to do what I've got to.
You've got two of the children.
Don't leave them.
Don't forget, they're in the house.
One-two on there.
[shouts] Power! Power!
Don't get in the way of the vehicle
'cause you'll get run over.
Going-to-the-flipping-tip time.
Do you reckon if I had half a billion,
I'd still have to do this?
Yeah.
Why?
You wouldn't wanna pay for it,
I know that.
-Why wouldn't I?
-Because I know you.
[Tyson] How much is it worth?
I don't know, but I bet
there is somebody that would do it.
How much is it worth to pay somebody
to do your bins for you? Do this job.
About 100 quid a day.
Going in someone's bins and doing that.
Well, just think from me doing this,
I've earned 100 quid.
Yeah?
£100 to me is a lot of money.
A hell of a lot of money.
'Cause I remember the days
I didn't have £100
and I'd have done this all day
till the crack of dawn.
For a oner.
So just realize who you are.
Hold that bag open. I'll do that.
Never lose sight of who you are, Prince.
If you can save a oner, save it.
[Tyson] I'm never gonna forget
where I came from
and how hard things are in reality.
So I'm instilling that into my kids,
nothing comes free in life
and everything that's any good in life,
you've to work hard for.
[Tyson grunts]
Happy days, son.
In the vehicle, Prince, okay.
This is the half a billion dollar man.
Full of fucking bin juice.
-Come on, let's go get your uniform.
-What are you doing here?
-In youse go.
-[Valencia] Mum.
Come here, Valencia.
Can I try this cardigan on you?
-Yeah.
-Come on then.
Looking forward to big school?
-Yeah. I got some clips for my friends.
-Put your arms down so I can see.
Adonis, stop raiding the shop.
I think that's the right size
'cause that'll shrink.
[Adonis] 'Cause I wanna go to big school.
But you're not going to big school.
Valencia goes this year.
[screams] No, she doesn't!
[Paris] Okay, don't upset him.
[whining] Help me put the pencils in!
[Paris] I'll ask the lady
how much they are.
If they're not too expensive,
you're allowed some.
-[beeps]
-They are £4.99.
-We'll buy you a pack of pencils in Asda.
-No! [crying]
-[Paris] Thank you.
-Give me [crying]
[machine beeps]
-Don't do it, Adonis.
-[Adonis] Give me it!
-You ain't having that.
-Yes, I am! [continues crying]
Uh-uh. They're not selling it
and we're not stealing it.
Ooh!
Good afternoon.
Can I have one battered sausage and chips?
I will take that times two.
And I will have myself

£26.10
-[woman laughing]
-£26.10?
Is this London?
-What about £26 cash?
-For cash?
[laughing]
I tell you, imagine if three people
wanted fish and chips, it'd be 40 quid.
They can't say "cheap as chips" anymore.
-They can't, can they?
-Can they heck?
[laughing]
-Do you want some napkins?
-Yes, please.
You're looking after me now.
-I'm getting preferential treatment.
-No.
-For that 26 quid.
-It's only napkins.
Yeah, if you say that's what it is.
Free napkins for life.
-Cheers, guys. Adios, amigos.
-Bye.
See youse all on the beach.
See where Tyson is.
[Tyson] Hiya, sweetheart.
Hello, babe, where you at?
About to pull up to the big car park
near The Battery hotel.
Gonna have some fish and chips.
-Have you got enough for all of us?
-Yeah, I think we have.
Go on, I'll come down.
We'll be about 25 minutes.
We'll be ate all by then.
Go on. I'll see you
when you come home then.
Take your best son after that
'cause he just squealed for 30 minutes.
He's still squealing now.
[Adonis screaming]
[Tyson] Whoo! Yeah, no, no Ooh, yes.
Battered sausage.
Here's your fork. You want a fork, Prince?
-I didn't know it was like this.
-Put that there.
-I'm not
-Give it here. I'll take it off.
You asked for a battered sausage.
I didn't know
it was gonna turn up like that.
Like a banana peel.
[laughs]
What's happening now, as we speak,
is there's many offers on the table
from many different countries,
so we're just gonna
sift through the offers.
And root out the good ones
and dispose of the bad ones.
Beating Usyk doesn't do anything.
Who the flipping heck is Usyk?
Me giving Usyk a fight
is like me not chucking him a bone,
it's me chucking him the full dog's home.
Everybody expects me to beat Usyk,
a middleweight guy, smaller than me.
If he beat me, it's like, "Oh, my God,
he beat the mammoth
who no one could beat."
So I'm not just giving somebody
the opportunity to gain that.
-[Prince] No.
-Hell no.
It'd probably be a better fight
if Usyk and AJ fought me together,
like a tag team,
keep switching in between rounds.
I'd actually batter them both
on the same night.
That's how easy they are.
Right. Come on, kids.
Off we go.
Right, you can't race him fair.
You're double his size,
he needs a head start.
-[Prince] No!
-Go on, Tut.
No!
He does. He needs till the end of
Go on, Tutty, run.
