[Jessica] It's super awkward.
I mean, I think it just makes

And plus, like, obviously, the
height and stuff for me right now,
it's totally not functional.
[Christina] Not at all.
[Jessica]
And trying to get around it.
Just the flow of the place,
when you try to get outside,
you have to take this hard

My word of the year

Ease and peace.

Over the course
of the last year,
so soon after we moved here,
I started losing my ability

What I would love to do

What I would love to do
but need to get a cost on
it would be to extend the
kitchen all the way over here,
run some lowers
on this back wall.
And then in doing so,
we'd have to get
rid of this door.
- [Jessica] Hmm.
- [Christina] But I think anyways,
it would make more sense,
if we can put in the budget,
to do a nice set of
French doors right here.
- [Jessica] Ooh.
- [Christina] Much easier.
Much more functional,
you walk into the front door,
you want to go outside,

functional island where you guys
can all eat together as a family.
- You can also use it for a workspace.
- [Jessica] Mmm-hmm.
[Christina] So, I don't really
want to put the sink in there.
That way, the whole thing
is just accessible,
lots of storage, and really kind of
make it look like a furniture piece.

Our kids are pretty young.
So having them try to sit

- Yeah, they they got to go.
[Jessica] Obviously,
the appliances are outdated.

- You know, we like styles that are more contemporary.
- [Christina] Yeah.
So, there's sort of this how do we

- and then having it all flow together?
- We're in Tennessee.
- [Christina] Yes.
You know, surrounded
by trees with a lush
- [Christina] Mmm-hmm.
- [Jessica] Yeah. I want to match the setting a bit.
But, yeah,
bring it like contemporary.
Color-wise, like,
what are you thinking?
Color-wise, like,
what are you thinking?
Are there any cabinet colors
that you've seen that you love?
Yeah.
Like, the deep, deep kind of
like green colors or the deep
- [Christina] That's pretty.
- blue almost black.
I don't know.
You know,
kind of those darker cabinets.
Not a whole dark thing,
but maybe
[Christina] Maybe the island
or the lowers.
- [Jessica] Yeah, something like that.
- [Christina] Okay.
Yeah. I don't think we want kind of your
normal just all whitewashed kitchen.
- No.
- [Christina] Yeah.
A little more detail
would be great.
The only thing that's slightly tricky
is playing it off the flooring, too.
- [Damon] Right.
- [Jessica] Yeah, yeah, yeah.
[Christina] 'Cause we don't want
to get too dark. Like dark on dark.
No, no, no.
No, no, no.
'Cause then you Yeah, you want
it to still feel light and bright, so.
I know. The floors are
in good shape, but yeah,
I know that sometimes
when they do darkers,
they do those, like, more
natural floors, which is pretty.
- [Christina] We'll come up with something really nice.
- [Jessica] Okay. Okay.
Okay. So and then over here,
we'll run some uppers and lowers,
and then we'll have
the refrigerator.
And then I would love to do
a sliding range, easy to open.
Couple really cute floating
shelves on both sides.
[Jessica] Mmm-hmm.
Mmm-hmm.
[Christina] Add some of that
organic touch to it again with decor,
and then we can run
some more uppers and lowers
and then we can run
some more uppers and lowers
and then a double oven over
here, again, more functional,
and then a really cute
coffee bar.
I think will look great
where the refrigerator is.
- Love it.
- Love a coffee bar.
Yes.
So what are you guys thinking
you want to spend here?
I would love to spend 75.
I think, for sure, 75 in
here is definitely workable.
[Jessica] Oh, good.
And then I know you guys also
want to show me the bathroom.
- Yes.
- Dun-dun-dun.
- Yes.
- [Jessica] My nemesis.
[Christina]
Do you want to go there?
I mean, I don't know
if I want to go there.
I don't know if I want to take
people in there, but we'll go.
I don't know if I want to take
people in there, but we'll go.
- I'll follow you guys.
- [Jessica] Yeah.
- Lead the way.
- [Jessica] I'll lead the way.
The accessibility
in the bathroom is terrible.
So having that space work for
me is just going to be a huge gift.
[Christina] I can kind of
guess what's not working.
But let's talk about what you
definitely want to see changed around.
The biggest game changer for
me is changing this bathroom.
[Christina] Yes.
So I could, like, cry when
I think of how much
- Totally.
- easier it could be.
So obviously,
the shower I want to do, like,
- a zero-entry shower.
- [Christina] Yes.
- a zero-entry shower.
- [Christina] Yes.
There's a lot of elements
that don't work,
so the shower is really
enclosed and it has a lip.
And so to be able to get
over the lip of the shower,
Damon has to help me.
Maybe put like,
some sort of bench seating
[Christina] Yes.
[Jessica] folds up
or folds down. I don't know.
You tell me what works,
but basically,
something that looks
beautiful but is functional
- [Christina] Totally.
- would be my dream.
Do you want a tub
in here at all?
- I do want a tub.
- Yeah.
- Yeah. I think so.
- [Christina] Freestanding.
- Just a nice freestanding tub.
- [Christina] Small.
It doesn't need to be this bulky and
especially this step out right here is
- [Jessica] Yeah.
- [Damon] Yeah.
- [Jessica] Yeah.
- [Damon] Yeah.
[Christina] it's just
It's very cramped.
- [Jessica] Yeah!
- [Damon] Yeah.
We have our same
'90s orange-y wood cabinetry,
so I would love
to swap that out.
[Christina] I would love
to do like cabinets
and then a little bit of a
dropdown, and then cabinets.
But we can do it on either
side, whatever you prefer.
[Jessica] Okay. Okay.
[Christina]
So we can talk about it.
I'd love it
if it's on both sides
because I'm a little nutty
about symmetry.
- [Christina] Okay.
- Oh, God, here we go.
So if we can make them
the same, that would be great.
So you don't mind it
being dropped for you.
- Correct.
- I mean, don't
I know, I'm weird.
He'll do anything for me,
be like, "Yeah, sure.
He'll do anything for me,
be like, "Yeah, sure.
It's fine." But I think, over
time, he's going to be like
[Christina] Yeah, totally.
"Why am I bending so far
over to wash my face?"
I'm sure,
you'll make it look great.
Yes. Yeah. Okay.
Just just trust me.
- [Jessica] Yeah.
- We'll make it look beautiful.
What are you guys looking
to spend in here?
I think 30,000 would be
probably where we'd like to be.
- I think that's totally doable.
- [Jessica] Okay.
- Because there's no structure in here.
- Yeah.
It's just taking out the old and then
using the existing plumbing and everything.
We can definitely make
that work.
Really, in here, it's going to
be about making it beautiful.
Really, in here, it's going to
be about making it beautiful.
- Yeah.
- Yes.
Like, I I will probably still need
some, like, bars, things like that.
But I want them to be like,
you know, pretty.
I don't want anyone to know
the difference.
[Christina] Yes.
It'll look great.
[Jessica]
Not medical-grade things.
[Christina]
No more medical-grade.
We'll make it very pretty.
So, if you guys are ready
to get started,
we can just get
the sledgehammers in here
and get demo going
and say bye-bye.
I'm going to demo
with this thing.
- Let's do it.
- Let's do it.
A fresh start.
- [Jessica] Okay.
- [Damon] Okay.
[Christina] Hello?
[Damon] Hey. Come on in.
Wow, this place is a mess.
Wow, this place is a mess.
Yes, it is.
All right, so let's talk about
putting this kitchen back together.
Let's.
I know you guys mentioned
doing a pop of green to really
incorporate the outside in.
So we had some boards painted,
and I thought one of these could look
really beautiful for the kitchen island.
I like darker.
And I know
we were thinking that,
but I think
something's calling to me
with the kind of the
brightness of this one, though.
with the kind of the
brightness of this one, though.
That's funny.
I'm kind of going towards
that one a little bit right now.
[Christina] They're all going to look
super different in different lights.
[Jessica] Okay, okay.
You know.
Do you want to see it like
Yeah, let's kind of
throw it up on the wall.
- See now, it looks
- Now it looks really light.
Yeah, that's what
I'm worried about.
See, I know. Paint's a
very, very tricky thing.
It's like probably my least
favorite thing on the planet
Oh, really?
because it really
always looks different
in different rooms,
different lighting.
- Yeah.
- See, I just think darker.
Maybe just one degree more.
- [Christina] Okay.
- [Damon] Yeah.
- [Christina] Okay.
- [Damon] Yeah.
Like, almost as dark as that
is, but in the shade that this is.
- Okay.
- Does that makes sense?
Yep. Are we thinking
this in the island,
a couple shades darker and
then everything else in the white?
Hmm.
I think I'd probably rather have
all of the cabinets this color.
I mean or this color
plus a little shade darker.
I think
that would look better.
That's very bold.
- That's very bold.
- [Jessica] You think?
- [Christina] Yeah.
- Too bold?
Too much?
I mean, no, like, I actually
think that's super cool.
I just unexpected.
I'm a little worried
about having just, like,
kind of an all-white
kitchen vibe.
[Christina] Yeah.
I want something
more interesting than that.
I'm definitely
a little surprised
that Jessica and Damon want
dark green cabinets everywhere.
It's very bold.
But honestly,
I'm all about it.
[Christina] So these are
some backsplash options,
which I feel like
I wouldn't do this one
if you're doing
all the cabinets dark.
[Jessica] No. Yeah.
[Jessica] No. Yeah.
I think this could get
a little too dark.
So I would,
I would go with this.
[Jessica] Definitely.
And then a really pretty
light countertop.
- [Damon] Nice.
- Pretty.
Let's see how that's
coming together right here.
[Christina] Yeah.
I think the white is gonna make
a really big difference in here.
- [Damon] Yeah.
- Yeah.
So because
this is a big decision,
I would love it if we could
pull up some of the cardboard.
I'll open
a window a little bit,
and that way, we
can get a better idea.
- [Damon] Yeah, let's do it.
- Okay.
Now, I actually am questioning
the shade darker a little bit.
[Christina] So you know how they're
going to be back here, too, right?
- Okay, so
- Yeah.
What do you think?
Oh, yeah.
Do you think a shade darker is going
to be too dark with, like, the brown?
Maybe. I don't know.
I think over there,
on the right, looks beautiful.
- [Damon] Yes.
- [Christina] Definitely.
And it is interesting
how it's changing.
So we are going to have it
back here.
It's going to carry around.
So I, kind of, feel like just
looking at it in different angles.
[Jessica] Yeah, that was
that was smart.
What do you think, Christina?
That one's okay.
What do you think, Christina?
That one's okay.
- [Christina] I think it's beautiful.
- [Jessica] Okay.
- [Christina] I think this will look really good.
- [Jessica] I trust you guys.
I like the idea of carrying the
backsplash around the window.
I like
the idea of incorporating
some natural color
floating shelves,
really tying
into your furniture.
I think that will look
really beautiful.
[Jessica] Yeah. Okay.
[Christina] All right.
So, are we good?

Front row Joe parking.

Today, we're taking the kids to a

from our house.
This is so cute.
It is time to get off
the technology
and show them there's a whole

and show them there's a whole
world out there that's off a tablet.
[Josh] Yeah. This store
is like time travel.
They have all the stuff that we
grew up with and played with.
We're going to introduce it
to these kids.
And I think
they're going to love it.
Brayden, do you think
we should get this for Hudson?
Yeah.
- Oh, he'd love that, huh?
- He would love that.
[Brayden]
I've always wanted this.
You always wanted that?
As long as you're getting
this stuff
and it's not an iPad
or a phone, I'm happy.
I need a whoopee cushion.
[Josh]
You need a whoopee cushion?
- Yes.
- [Josh] I'm I'm
Yeah. Okay.
Yeah. Okay.
As long as you're doing
fake farts and not real ones,
- I'm good with it.
- Oh, my gosh. Oh, my gosh!
Wait.
Hey, Mom,
I'm going to do this to you.
A whoopee cushion?
I was really hoping that we'd
find some, like, old-school games
that would stimulate
the kids' brains.
A whoopee cushion, really?
I mean, did you play
with one of those growing up?
Of course I did.
Oh, it's such a boy thing.
[Josh] Brayden,
isn't this stuff really cool?
[Brayden] Mmm-hmm!
Would you agree this is
better than video games?
All right,
are you guys ready?
There are so much, like, really
cute and cool stuff here honestly.
There are so much, like, really
cute and cool stuff here honestly.
- Thank you.
- It's amazing.
We could buy everything.
- Is this your store?
- Yes, it is.
Thanks for coming.
This is my son, Carter.
- Hi, Carter.
- And I'm Cindy.
Hi. How you doing?
We tend to buy what we like, and
we hope that everybody else likes it.
And lots of vintage inspired,
so
- Super cool.
- Yeah.
- It's the nostalgia of everything.
- [Cindy] Yes.
It's very cool.
Off the technology,
playing with actual games.
[Josh] Yes.
How about we keep on using
the whoopee cushion on Mom?
And then
she'll get really irritated,
And then
she'll get really irritated,
- and then we'll get our electronics back.
- Yes.
- Josh.
- Yes, sir.
When we go home,
we want to prank Mom.
Yeah, I'm sure
you'll get me.
Well, you just told her
we're going to prank her,
- so she's going to be ready now.
- I'll forget. Don't worry.
I already forgot.
Have you found anything in that
book that you think we can get her with?
Mmm
[whispering]
Whoopee cushion.
Whoopee cushion?
You weren't supposed
to hear that.
I mean,
he said it pretty loud.
All right.
Well, thanks for meeting me.
Absolutely.
I feel like it's nice to get to talk
freely about all the ADA things.
ADA refers to Americans
with Disabilities Act.
It provides guidelines for creating
spaces for people with limited mobility.
Obviously, it's the first time
I've ever done anything like this.
And it's just so close
to my best friend and family.
- So I just want it to be absolutely perfect for them.
- Awesome.
Well, do you have any
questions right off the bat?
Mostly, I guess, the island
'cause I feel like
this is where Jessica will
be spending most of her time.
this is where Jessica will
be spending most of her time.
So we're doing it
a bit lower than normal.
[Berry] That's correct.
Standard cabinet height is 36
inches, this will be 30 inches.
[Christina] Okay, perfect.
And then the seating will
be right here and right here.
[Berry]
And on that side as well.
[Christina] Oh, perfect.
[Berry] There'll be shelves
on this side,
- and there'll be a drawer right here.
- [Christina] Perfect.
So she'll be able to reach
everything.
And then she could basically
sit over here or over here.
- That's correct.
- Okay.
And then we're going to
have the sink area over here
and same thing with this.
Will she be able to reach
everything?
Will she be able to reach
everything?
[Berry] She will. Yep.
And then we added doors over there so
they can still access their back porch.
Perfect.
So the main thing here
is just making sure
that Jessica can be as
self-sufficient as possible.
And I think we definitely
achieved that with the island.
- [Berry] Absolutely.
- [Christina] And then also,
I love how you left a lot
of space around the island.
That way,
she can get around super easy.
- She's going to love it.
- Yeah, she is.
- [Berry] Yeah.
- It's gonna look great.
- [Berry] Awesome.
- Want to check out the bathroom?
Sure. Let's do it.
Right away, with this entrance
into the bathroom,
I know this is a big problem.
They have this lip and then
it's so narrow.
They have this lip and then
it's so narrow.
So I know that's something
that we're going to address later.
But right away,
I can just tell
how much better
this is going to be
functionality-wise.
That's right.
[Christina] This bathroom
caused her so much anxiety.
And obviously, as a female,
I understand, like,
our bathroom is our
you know, our sanctuary.
So before,
it was just like doors
and she couldn't access
anything by herself.
And now this is just
gonna be a zero entry, right?
No dam, straight into the
shower so she can wheel right in.
- That's right.
- I do have a question.
How does the water not flow
out into the rest of the room
How does the water not flow
out into the rest of the room
when she's in the shower?
It's all in how we ramp the
the tile.
So is it like
it's flowing back
Is the drain going to be here?
It's going to flow
that direction.
- That's correct.
- Okay.
[Berry] And the tub is going
to be right here in the middle.
So it will have an open
concept to the whole bathroom.
[Christina] Totally.
And I love that it has the
natural light right here by the tub
so she can see out the window
and having those doors gone
and just having the space to be able
to just flow around here much easier.
It's gonna be
such a game changer for her.
- She's going to love it.
- [Christina] Yeah.
How does it feel to be
in here like this?
So good.
- Refreshing.
- Right?
The goal here is
to feel, like,
much more soothing than
what we had before.
So there's two
flooring options,
both are light by nature.
This one has a little more
stripey flow.
This one has
a little more marbling.
They're both matte.
That way,
they're not slippery.
They'd be about this size,
and then you can stagger them.
Okay, I'm going to keep
pulling out materials
because I feel like it makes
more sense to pick a flooring
because I feel like it makes
more sense to pick a flooring
once you see all the options.
These tiles
are very beautiful.
I love the sheen
they have to them.
And the plan would be to run
them up the walls from about here,
all the way up
to the ceiling,
all the way around the walls,
ending on the same side
over there.
Love it.
And then
this would border them.
[Damon] Nice.
I think that goes nice
with a really light,
soothing paint color that
you'll have on these walls.
soothing paint color that
you'll have on these walls.
[Damon] Yep.
[Christina] We have
cabinets and counters.
[Damon] Beautiful.
And the design would basically be
like your sides would mirror each other,
so you'd have a countertop,
row of cabinets,
and then, Jessica, on your
side, we'd do the cabinets,
and then we'd do
the counters lower.
But basically, they're going to
look really uniform in shape and size.
I know you like that.
And then
this would be the shower pan.
- [Jessica] Oh, yeah.
- [Damon] Ah, beautiful.
[Christina] Which I think
really ties everything together.
I love that it brings
some more colors.
- That's what I like. Yeah.
- [Damon] Yeah.
[Jessica] I like how it's
bringing that beige-y color in.
[Jessica] I like how it's
bringing that beige-y color in.
Yes. And that'll be
a pretty substantial area
that will have that pattern,
which I think is really nice.
Okay, yeah. I like that.
And then
we have pull handles.
These are easily
able to pull out.
There's nothing complicated.
And I think they look nice
to add to, like,
- the matte black color.
- [Damon] Beautiful.
[Christina] So based
on this look,
is there a flooring
preference?
[Damon] This is
this one is interesting because
it feels almost like woodgrain.
And it's different.
But it's also
this is sort of, you know,
But it's also
this is sort of, you know,
what you'd expect,
which isn't bad, right?
So I'm kind of
in between them.
I I don't know.
What do you think?
Um
Yeah, I mean, I would
normally go towards that.
But I don't know
if that's more interesting.
What do you think?
I think this one's maybe
a little bit more soothing.
[Damon] Yeah.
I'm gonna do that.
[Jessica] Okay.
Let's do more soothing.
Okay. I think this will
look really, really pretty.
So we would have
the shower tile,
the cabinets
and the counters, paint,
and the shower pan.
I'm going to blow something
up right now. Sorry.
I think I prefer to not bring the
matte black into the bathroom.
So do you want to also not
do anything else in matte black,
like, the lighting?
And because
Okay, so basically, like
[Jessica] I'm sorry.
If we choose this and we
would probably incorporate,
like, the shower,
fixtures, maybe faucets
- [Jessica] Yeah.
- [Christina] and everything,
but we could go with everything
else being in a brush bronze.
Or we can do both.
Yeah, I'm okay
with some of the matte black.
Yeah, I'm okay
with some of the matte black.
I just don't think
I want too much of it.
[Christina] Yeah.
I think we can do the brush bronze
pull handles, and then we can
I'll send you guys
some options for lighting.
- [Jessica] Okay. Okay.
- [Christina] And we can go from there.
- [Jessica] Okay.
- [Damon] Sounds great.
[Christina] Hey, JB.
How are you?
[Christina] Hey, JB.
How are you?
[Berry on phone]
It's going okay.
Oh, no.
[Berry on phone]
We have some news here.
Oh, no. What?
[Berry on phone] So we
started pulling up the flooring
at the Waldrons' house.
And when we started
pulling the flooring up,
it was all glued together
with the subfloor,
and it was pulling up
the subfloor as well.
The plan originally
was to replace the flooring
that was in the footprint
of the island
with the same flooring
that was on the first floor.
However, unfortunately,
we found out the flooring
is discontinued.
So now that means we
have to replace all the flooring.
And when the team
went to take out the flooring,
unfortunately, the
subflooring came out as well.
unfortunately, the
subflooring came out as well.
So now we're talking about
new subfloors and new floors,
which is very costly.
Sounds very expensive.
[Berry]
It's about $23,000 expensive.
$23,000 for the subfloor?
[Berry]
That's right.
It's a lot of material,
and it's a lot of labor.
Wow!
[Berry] But we have the
team in place to pull it off.
[Christina] Oh, gosh.
[Berry] And I talked
to Damon and Jessica
and they signed off
on what we need to do
and they signed off
on what we need to do
because we need to pull up all
the subfloor in the entire downstairs.
Oh, my gosh!
[groans softly]
I mean, all I can think is just to
try to offset some cost for them.
I can cover the flooring
from my line,
so give them
free flooring.
[Berry]
That'd be great.
All I want is for this project
to be completed quickly
so that Jessica and Damon can get back
home and start enjoying their house.
All right.
Thanks so much.
[Berry] All right.
Talk to you soon.
All right. Bye.
All right. Bye.
Can I please have one scoop
of mint chocolate chip?
And then
can I have caramel on top?
Thank you.
Thank you.
[Christina] The kids have been spending
less time on their devices lately,
so I'm taking them
to ice cream for a reward.
[Audrey speaking]
- Do you play Roblox?
- Yes.
What's up with Roblox?
You guys and your technology.
You know what we
did when we were kids?
We played outside.
- [Taylor] I know, right?
- Yeah. You told us.
Outside's wonderful.
I don't know
if I can ever convince them
that playing outside is more fun
than playing on their technology.
that playing outside is more fun
than playing on their technology.
But we can all agree
that ice cream is the best.
Wow!
Thank you for sharing.
[Taylor speaking]
Yeah, because he
loves me the most.
No, because
you just took it.
So something always comes up
in every house that I do.
And in this case,
the subfloor issue
was actually a pretty big hit.
I've never seen flooring
come up with the subflooring.
I've never seen flooring
come up with the subflooring.
- We're innovating here.
- Yes, exactly.
So anyways,
luckily, it came up,
now it's back in,
and brand
new flooring throughout.
So now we get
to pick new flooring.
How's Jessica doing?
She's good.
She's good.
She's actually getting
treatment this week.
She's a little rundown.
So that's why
she couldn't be here today.
- But she's responding well.
- Perfect.
- So very excited about that.
- Tell her I said hi.
I will.
And she trusts us to make
this choice without her?
- I think she does.
- Okay.
- So let's do it.
- Okay.
- So let's do it.
- Okay.
So any of these flooring
options are all beautiful.
They're all from
my flooring line.
I handpicked them.
They're all neutrals.
They're all like, you know,
on the brighter side.
The other flooring
was pretty dark.
Yeah.
So I think this will really lighten
up the whole house in general.
This one has a little more
distress to it.
This is a little bit
of an ashy color.
And this one is the lightest,
and I would say like
the more modern of the three.
- Got it. Yeah, I
- Little more contemporary.
I like
the details here for sure,
but I think for us,
I'm definitely gravitating
towards this one.
I'm definitely gravitating
towards this one.
- [Christina] The light one?
- I think Yeah,
I think the lighter one will
look great with the walls
and really contrast
with the cabinets a lot.
I agree. I was hoping
you'd pick that one.
I figured knowing that you like
everything clean lines and everything,
I feel like that one's
definitely the best choice
and the biggest before
and after with the dark, so.
There you go.
Okay, so this one, it is.
We'll get this one ordered.
And I know you guys are
anxious to get back in here,
- so we'll keep moving forward.
- Sounds great.
- Hello.
- Hello.
[Jessica] Hi!
- Hi!
- Come on in.
I brought a surprise guest.
Oh, a handsome man.
[Christina] A handsome man,
you're right.
[Josh] A handsome man.
He's right there.
Is this a mirror?
[Christina] So this window
looks awesome.
Oh, my gosh.
It's so much
more natural light.
It's so much
more natural light.
And so before,
there was a door right here.
[Josh] Okay.
So we switched it so we can
add more cabinets right here,
put the door there,
and this huge window.
- Brilliant.
- [Jessica] Yes.
[Josh] Aren't these our
floors under here?
[Christina] Yeah.
- [Josh] Whoa!
- [Jessica] This, we do love.
- [Josh] So pretty.
- Yes.
The whole flooring fiasco,
I know you're aware.
But, you know, sometimes things have
to get worse before they get better.
Happy accidents.
Yes. Because we're going to do this really
cool green paint color for the cabinets.
I like it.
So the way
it's going to play off
the light flooring
is gonna look awesome.
the light flooring
is gonna look awesome.
Yeah. I think the light flooring
will be better with the dark.
- Yeah. That'll be cool.
- The pantry is coming along.
The pantry.
- Yes.
- [Josh] There's another room.
[Christina]
Love the butcher block.
[Josh] Wow!
[Christina]
Butcher block looks awesome.
[Josh] I'm very envious
of this pantry.
[Jessica] Oh, yeah?
[Josh] Yeah. This is great.
So, as far as
painting in here.
Do you guys
have any thoughts?
We've been thinking
about white for the actual
you know,
the shelves themselves.
That's what I was thinking.
Yeah.
Keep the butcher block,
you know, natural wood color.
- [Christina] Yeah.
- Show the wood grain.
But we'd love to hear
your thoughts, actually,
But we'd love to hear
your thoughts, actually,
on something to tie the pantry
in with the kitchen.
- [Jessica] Yeah.
- That's what I was thinking.
Are you are you guys open to doing
the same green color on the walls?
- The whole thing?
- Yeah.
But your guys' call.
Are you guys open to doing the
same green color on the walls?
Open? Yeah.
What do you think?
[Christina] I think
that'd be super cool.
But your guys' call.
I think with the white
shelves, let's do it.
Let's go for it. It'll be
good contrast, it'll pop.
- [Jessica] It's just paint.
- Yeah. Go bold.
- If we don't like it, we can always change it.
- Yeah.
- [Damon] Nice.
- That'll be cool.
- [Christina] Want to check out the bathroom?
- Yes.
This is what I'm really
excited about.
We're going to see
some progress.
- [Jessica] Yeah.
- Okay.
Ooh, la, la.
This is gorgeous.
This is my favorite thing
so far.
Oh, yeah.
[Jessica] I love
the drama of the wall.
[Jessica] I love
the drama of the wall.
[Christina]
The wall is so good.
Oh, it just feels
so soothing, right?
It just, like, makes you
want to touch it.
[Josh] That's the first thing
I noticed.
- It looks so calm.
- [Christina] Yes.
- It's relaxing in here.
- Good. That's what we want.
[Christina]
All the calm vibes.
I mean, I feel like, in here,
we're actually, like, weeks away.
- [John] Awesome.
- [Jessica] I can't believe it's the same bathroom.
[Christina] I know.
So what are you guys up to?
Any trips?
We're gonna go meditate
for seven days straight.
Heck, yes.
Seven days. She can't
get me to do it for an hour.
I need to meditate
for seven days.
Oh, my God.
That sounds incredible.
Oh, my God.
That sounds incredible.
We're going to Dallas,
I think, to do it.
But we're going to
We're going to be
- In the quantum.
- Yeah.
We're going to be beyond.
I love the quantum.
I live for the quantum.
You're speaking
her language right here.
Me and the quantum
are best friends.
Jessica and I both share
a love for holistic healing.
And the quantum is basically
a deep state of meditation
where you learn techniques
like mind over matter.
I've been to the quantum,
and if you know, you know.
Love you guys.
Appreciate you.
Thank you. Same.
- [Christina] Enjoy your week.
- Great. Same here. Have a great time.
[Damon]
Thank you both so much.
[Damon]
Thank you both so much.
[Cassie on phone] Hi!
Hey! I just got your text.
What's going on?
[Cassie] I just heard from my
mother-in-law Jess was not doing well.
Oh, no.
[Cassie] She got
a text from Damon and said,
[Cassie] She got
a text from Damon and said,
everyone needs to get to the
hospital now and to bring the kids.
So I just booked flights
for all of us.
We leave in a couple hours,
and we're going to get
there around midnight.
Oh, my gosh.
Did they give you any details
about what's going on?
[Cassie] No.
I know that he had taken Jess
to the hospital a couple hours ago
because she was having
trouble breathing
and her oxygen levels
had dropped.
So, I don't know
what's going on.
But it's not good.
I'm so sorry.
I'm so sorry.
[Cassie] So as soon as
I have more information,
I'll let you know.
All right. I love you.
Keep me posted.
[Cassie] Okay.
Love you, too. Bye.
All right, bye.
[Christina]
I got some bad news.
What's going on?
I know you know
the last time we saw Jessica,
we could both tell
that she wasn't doing well.
- Unfortunately.
- [Christina] Right.
Well, Cassie, James, and the baby
had to take a red-eye out last night
because Jessica
is in the hospital.
because Jessica
is in the hospital.
- No!
- [Christina] I know.
So she's going to come over
pretty soon, so we can talk.
When she gets here,
I'll let you guys
do your thing.
- I'll give you your space. Love you.
- Love you.
[Cassie] Hello.
[Christina] Hey.
[Cassie taking]
I'm sorry.
I'm just it's a lot.
I know.
Just take a minute.
I know.
Oh!
- I'm sorry.
- No, no.
It just doesn't feel real.
It doesn't.
Last time, we were there
- I could tell she was hurting.
- [Cassie] Yeah.
It just
It was so hard at the end,
and that's not
what she wanted.
I know.
[Cassie] You know,
she fought so hard.
And while everything
went so quick, you know,
it just felt like
it was too much.
I just have something
to ask.
And you have done
more than anything
we could have imagined
for our family and for
you know how grateful
I am for you for everything.
And as a family, it's really important
for us that you guys continue.
And as a family, it's really important
for us that you guys continue.
The house is going to be
a foundation for them
to be able to really
come together.
And that's just number one.
So whatever you can do,
I know you're going
to work hard to get that done.
And it's just so important.
No, I understand.
I got it.
[Cassie] I know, you do.
Nothing for you
to worry about.
Obviously, my number one
priority, Jessica was like family.
Yeah.
'Cause you're
my family and
She was your friend.
- I just I She was.
- [Cassie] I know.
You know
I don't like a lot of people.
And I really liked her.
And I really liked her.
She she liked you, too.
And she didn't always like
everyone also, so that's good.
We're, right now,
I think a couple weeks out.
But after this, I'm going to call
JB the contractor, and tell him,
like, all hands on deck.
We need to get Damon and the kids back
in the house no matter what it takes.
And then, you know,
we'll go over there
and see what's left.
And obviously, you know,
that'll be the priority.
I appreciate it.
We appreciate you so much and
everything you've done for them
and how special you made everything
'cause it's meant so much to all family.
and how special you made everything
'cause it's meant so much to all family.
Thank you so much.
[solemn music playing]
Hi.
Hi.
Hey, there.
[Josh] Hey!
- What's up, buddy?
- Hey.
- All right.
- Well, it looks beautiful.
I appreciate you guys making
this a priority
and making this wrap up
as quick as possible.
Do you want to just quickly
walk us through everything
that's left to do before
they can come back home?
We have some
more painting to do.
We got the cabinet doors
and then a final clean,
and we'll be ready to go.
[Christina]
How long do you think?
[Christina]
How long do you think?
I think we can do this within
the next three to four days, so
Thank you.
Yes.
I just want to get Damon and
the kids back into their home.
[Berry] Yeah. Me too.
A sad situation.
Thank you
for pulling everyone together
and making this happen
as quickly as possible.
Just getting Damon and
the kids back in this house
is the biggest priority.
The work looks beautiful.
- Thank you.
- Thank you.
I know
they're going to love it.
It is a huge difference.
And it's so light
and bright in here, so
Good work.
- Thank you.
- [Berry] All right.
We'll do everything we can.
- Thank you.
- Thank you.
Appreciate it.
Thank you.
Let's go.
Hi.
What's up, man?
Hi.
Hi.
We're giving Damon some
space to spend time with the kids
and be with his family.
So today, we're walking the
house with Cassie and James
and showing them
the finished product.
It's a drastic change.
It looks amazing.
[Cassie]
You did an amazing job.
Their island was so small
that was right here
and was so squished
and tucked at a funny angle.
[James] I think this island
is gonna be perfect
[James] I think this island
is gonna be perfect
for bringing family around
and gathering.
Yeah.
- This is exactly
- [Cassie] Yeah.
[Christina]
what Jessica wanted,
and I can just feel
her presence in here.
And this was the exact style
that her and Damon described.
They wanted it to feel light
and bright and modern.
The green cabinets.
[Cassie] You know,
I knew she loved green,
and I knew her and Damon
had talked about that,
but I thought they were just
going to go with the island.
Yeah. Jessica decided
she wanted bold.
[Christina]
She didn't want boring.
Shocker.
Shocker.
That is Jessica.
Bold.
[Christina] My favorite part, I
was about to say, is the window.
[James] The window.
There used to be a door
right here, and we shifted it.
- That way, we could create more space here.
- [Cassie] Right.
[Christina] We wanted to really bring
the kitchen to fill the entire space
before it felt
very closed off.
They had an unnecessary
table here.
So by shifting the door,
we were able to have
all this,
which I feel like feels,
like, very soothing,
so nature
It's really smoothing
with the natural light
that's coming through the sun
just bringing the rays through.
- And then
- [Cassie] Yeah.
- And then
- [Cassie] Yeah.
the view of the yard. Be
able to watch the kids play.
Yeah, that's my That's my favorite
part of the kitchen is right here.
[Cassie] It's perfect.
I want to see
the rest of it.
Okay.
Around the corner something
you'll appreciate, the pantry.
[Cassie] This is amazing.
[Christina] Don't you like
the bottom levels
for the kids to be able to
reach their snacks?
[Cassie] All their healthy
snacks. That's perfect.
This is beautiful.
And I love how you guys incorporated
the green cabinets into here.
That's perfect.
[Christina]
We didn't do much in here.
[Christina]
We didn't do much in here.
We just did all new flooring,
which I feel like the flooring
made a huge difference.
[Cassie] Remember before,
it was very dark.
- It was dark.
- [Christina] Yeah.
[Cassie] And, you know, with the
new windows and the French door,
the light you guys
brought in.
And with the new floors,
it just looks bigger
- [Christina] Right.
- [Cassie] and happier.
- The energy feels so good.
- [Christina] Yeah.
I don't know if it's the flooring
and the green or what it is,
- but it just feels calm and
- [Christina] Calm.
[Cassie]
Yeah, it's just beautiful.
- My favorite's the pictures.
- Me too.
[Cassie] Yeah.
They're a beautiful family.
[James] Yeah.
- It's my little sis.
- Yeah.
[Christina] So one
other thing we did here
and one of the things that was most
important to Jessica was their bathroom.
Mmm-hmm.
[Christina] It just felt dated
and claustrophobic.
I remember.
[Christina]
So there's a pretty big
pretty big difference
in there.
[Cassie] All right.
Let's go check it out.
Oh, my gosh!
Oh, my gosh!
[Cassie] Wow!
[James] A lot more space
in here now, huh?
[Cassie]
You guys opened it up.
It looks five times
bigger than it was before.
[James] Yeah.
Jessica really disliked
this bathroom, as she should.
- [James] Yeah.
- [Christina] It was tiny areas.
The shower was very small,
very hard to get in and out.
The toilet was in this
odd angle in the corner.
Very inaccessible, very dark.
Very inaccessible, very dark.
Did not feel light and bright.
I know she was
very frustrated with it.
[Christina] Yes.
Especially
with where she was at.
- So this
- [Christina] I know.
[James] it's got so much
more room and space.
[Cassie]
The kids love taking baths.
And this is perfect.
They can be in here
with Damon.
The kids are gonna be
spending a lot of time in here,
so we added the stool so that the
kids could wash their hands up there.
[Cassie] Yeah.
Reese could be up there
using this vanity as well.
[Cassie] Oh, my God!
Reese is gonna be here
playing with her mom's makeup
and just having a ball.
That's a really beautiful
way to honor her.
I think that's
really special.
I think that's
really special.
That's is very
very special.
Isn't this amazing?
[Christina] This was a very good
reflection of both of their styles.
[Cassie] It's very spa-like,
very zen, very
really,
it's very Damon and Jessica.
The last few months have been so
incredibly difficult for our whole family.
But it feels so good
to know that Damon
and the kids are going to be
able to create
these beautiful memories
in this house.
And really, Jess's memory
is going to live on with it.
This is the perfect space
for Damon and the kids
to really be together as they
continue to heal and be a family.
to really be together as they
continue to heal and be a family.
And I don't know
how to say thank you.
- Like, I
- Yeah.
You really have turned
this around for them.
And this is going to be
a place for them to be happy.
Yeah.
Finishing this project was incredibly
difficult for everyone involved.
But I'm just proud that we were
able to bring Jessica's vision to life.
I hope this new space
brings Jessica's family
the comfort and ease
that she wanted for them.
