some of the things I have might be worth.
Because I love pop culture so much,
they are really priceless to me.
But I am curious because I love money.
I'll have to bring it to our team.
I'm sure we'll have to do
further authentication,

[hip-hop music playing]
Today, I'm hopping

I also got wind
of a Peyton Manning game-used jersey,
and a very rare Mickey Mantle card
that came into a local card shop.
I've been working on getting it

-Darren?
-Yes? Hey, Ken. Good to see you.
-Good to meet you.
-Thanks for coming so far out here.

It's so strong, you can read every letter.
I would love to get this
in the next Goldin Elite.
Okay, so how does that work,
and what can you do for us
to make sure we get the best price?
Well, the Goldin Elite obviously
is gonna be the best of the best,
all the high-priced stuff,
and for a card like this,
I'd personally do a video for it,
we'd promote it.
We'd send out millions of emails.
I would guarantee you
a top-ten lot position,
which means when people go to the website,

For something like this,
I think we're looking at,
worst-case 225. Best-case 300,000.
-[Darren] Okay.
-It's worth more with the signature.
Okay, I'd be open to that.
That sounds really good.
We got one other thing.
-It's, uh…
-[Ken] Oh.
…some guy by the name of Manning,
a game-used jersey.
Peyton Manning Broncos, very nice.
What type of work
was done on the jersey to authenticate it?
It was photo-matched,
and they came up
with a September game against the Raiders
where he threw for roughly 370 yards.
So another day at the office.
[Ken laughs] Amazing.
I love game-used items like this,
and Peyton Manning is such a legend.
Do you mind if I ask my business associate

And he loves items like this.

-[Jean] Okay.
[Carlo] Ooh. Look at this.
This is incredible.
This is the only one in the world.
There's not another one of these printed.
You'll never find another one.
You pulled this out of a pack?
[in French] Yes,
I bought this pack of cards.
How much was the pack?
[in English] Um, around $50.
[laughs] $50! Look at this.
This is the best thing
you'll pull out of a pack in your life.
How much do you think this card is worth?
[in French] As far as assigning
an exact dollar amount,
we have no clue.
I called you guys here today,
not just because I wanna see the card,
but I have a substantial offer
from a private buyer.
[curious music playing]
$750,000.
-[gasps]
-[Carlo laughs]
[in French] Carlo told us we got an offer
of $750,000 from a private buyer.
When I heard that amount,
I almost fell backwards!
I never thought
a little piece of cardboard
could be worth that much.
It's real money?
-[Beatrice, in English] It's real money?
-That's a real offer.
I know it's crazy, it's a lot,
but it's a very real offer.
When a super rare card like this
hits the market
everyone comes out of the woodwork.
Everyone tells you
what they think it'll be worth,
what it should go for,
offers all over the place.
What's real? What's not?
It's hard to navigate
through all that nonsense
to find the real buyer.
We have to let this private buyer
know we're gonna bring it to auction
because he doesn't want that to happen.
He knows if it goes to auction,
other people are gonna see it,
they might bid against him,
price can go way up.
So we need to leverage that.
There are a lot of big buyers.
There are quite a few people
that could drive this over $1,000,000.
There is a big risk here.
If we tell him we'll bring it to auction,
he could also walk away.
So we gotta be very careful.
He doesn't want this to go to auction.
I got a feeling he's gonna come up.
[in French]
I am putting all my trust in you.
So we will go that way.
And we will eagerly await your call.
The next time you come in,
it will only be if there's a better offer.
I'm really excited they trusted me.
I know I will succeed as long as
I'm doing right by the consignor.
Our company's exploding.
I… I think I'm a valuable member.
I brought a lot of money
through this door.
That's something I'm proud of.
I'm helping grow the company. It's great.

He's even interested
in collecting his own items.
He loves that they're worth
more than his brother Eli.
Feels like the real deal, Ken. It's, uh…
It's clean, which could be two things.
I mean, I was moving
pretty fast back in those days,
so maybe nobody caught me.
But it could be also, you know,
that I used to change jerseys at halftime.
I'm gonna bet,
based on the year and the jersey,
it's probably a first-half jersey.
I'd love to take this back with me.
-We can add it to the '52 Mantle card.
-That'd be good.
-Let's do it. Absolutely.
-[Ken] That'd be good?
The whole business of collectibles,
in some ways is about
getting closer to a celebrity.
So when you're dealing
with these high-net-worth individuals
and celebrities,
if you want their business,
you have to cater to them.
So you have to be
where they want you to be,
and when they want you to be there,
otherwise somebody else will get the deal.
-This is what I was telling you about.
-Let's take a peek.
I have no idea, but this is…

-Oh, look at that face.
-1996.
I figured it's a one-of-one.

So you subscribed to span style="style2"Sports Illustrated
in 1996, there you go.
I was a longtime subscriber.
Apartment 232, Knoxville, Tennessee.
There's only one of those.
What do you think?
Five bucks? Ten bucks?
No, honestly these are
the types of goofy items
you put them up in auction,
they go for $1,000.
It could go for $15,000
because there might be somebody who goes,
"Wow! This is
Peyton Manning's personal copy
mailed to him at Tennessee,
and it's his first time ever."
When it came in the mail,
yeah, it was cool.
Obviously, I grew up watching my heroes
on the cover of span style="style2"Sports Illustrated,
so to be on it and share it with my dad
when he was on the cover was cool.
That's 1996.
-I've held on to it for a long time.
-[Ken] Great collectible.
What else is here? This looks cool.
I love this kind of stuff.
This store's been here for 40 years.
Let's see what else they got here.
[lounge music playing]
[Ken] Oh, here you are. Look up. [laughs]
Do autographs increase in value
with neater signatures?
The collectors really want to know
whose signature it is and,
you know, all three of you.
I mean, you, your dad,
and Eli all have nice, legible--
-I don't know. Eli's is a little…
-[Ken laughs]
…I will be calling him about that.
-You could take a picture and show him.
-[Peyton] Failed English.
That is a, uh, '98 SP authentic,
and it is limited to 2,000.
That's probably
a $10,000 to $15,000 card now.
-[Peyton] Really?
-[Ken] Yeah. That's a good one.
Ken, I have some of my rookie cards,
but I've never been able
to get my hands on a massive collection.
You've got a few people
hoarding your cards.
They want to hold on to them
until they hit a certain price.
Why would they hoard my cards?
It… It seems weird to me.
Why would somebody
buy anything they think is a great deal?
Somebody can look at your cards,
they can compare the prices
to a Tom Brady, or a Patrick Mahomes
and say, "Wow! Why is Peyton Manning
so much cheaper?"
And they know it's wrong, they buy it,
and wait for the market to correct.
So I should be honored
that people are hoarding?
If you went to Goldin and you saw
175 lots full of Peyton Manning cards,
you'd know everyone's taking and dumping,
"I don't want this guy's cards anymore."
-"Sell, sell, sell."
-Yeah.
So that's something good. You want that.
[upbeat music playing]
-Hey, boo.
-Hey, lady. What's up?
-[Myesha] I'm okay. How are you doing?
-[Marlisa] Doing good.
Super excited to see the results.
Where are we starting?
The Britney dress.
When the Goldin team comes to me,
it's to get
that initial step of authentication,
and determine whether or not
they'd be worth it to send off
to get a final verification.
I was able to find images from 2012,
when she walked out
on span style="style2"The X-Factor wearing this dress.
-Literally?
-[Marlisa] Yes.
So I was able to match
these three beads from right here.
-[Myesha] These here?
-[Marlisa] Yup.
I can tell, based on the sewing job
from down here on the hem,
that this was indeed cut,
and it was cut a little jagged.
-[Myesha] Love this.
-[Marlisa] Because of how that lays.
If you try to lay it flat,
it's not perfectly straight.
This photo in particular,
it's super pixilated
because they're, like, ten years old.
Right.
[Marlisa] But here, you can see there are
these two darker
skin-color pixels right here.
Right.
And the grayer pixels
continue up here, on these two lines,
[Myesha] Right.
You can actually tell
that mimics these threads right there.
[gasps] Oh my God.
How'd you figure that out? That's insane.
Based on that, I think I can confirm
that this is…
-Yay.
-This is the Britney dress.
But what about the washcloths?
Looking at the letter
that came from the housekeeper,
the letter itself
came from the Marriott in Warsaw.
I can confirm
he did in fact stay at the hotel.
I was able to match this photo
of him coming into the hotel,
to this video.
[fans cheering and screaming]
Is there video of him
using washcloths at all from that time?
Unfortunately not.
I am doubtful that they're fake.
I'm almost certain they're real.
It's just the standards are way too high.
They'd never allow this to go to auction,
so that is disappointing.
[Marlisa] Yeah.
[Myesha] I am super worried
that Carlo is not gonna want to
get rid of the Britney dress at all.
I think the washcloths
are gonna make or break the deal.
Hopefully, he'll still work with me
on this one.
He better.

-It's Britney, bitch. [laughs]

Carlo is getting way more excited
about getting rid of the washcloth.
I think that's his main goal here.
My main goal
is to get him the money he deserves
for that Britney dress.
-We'll start with the washcloth.
-Okay.
Unfortunately for Goldin,
we cannot put these in our auction.
We need to be able to,
essentially, photo-match.
They'd have to literally
have pictures of Michael using it.
To be completely honest,
I really thought
that was enough to authenticate it.
You're not gonna have security footage
from his room of him wiping his face.
I understand it's disappointing, Carlo.
I'd highly recommend
you try to do a private sale for this,
but I can't put that into our auction.
Okay. [chuckles]
There's plenty of reason to believe
these are the exact washcloths he used,
but the high standards
for authentication we have
is why people prefer us.
Because they know
every one of our items are real.
This one we can
certainly put into auction.
So I'm hoping
you are willing to close this out.
I don't know.
Britney is really important to me,
and it's really tough
for me to part with it. [exhales]
If you consign today,
I would store it in the vault,
and we could just hold it there
until it's a good time again.
So when Britney is in the media again,
for whatever reason,
you will get the maximum amount
you possibly could for this.
If we put it in at a good time,
when she's, you know, hot again,
I would imagine it's going 20,
25 thousand dollars, maybe.
-[whimsical music playing]
-Well… [laughs]

and we can start now.
-Okay. Cool.

I do feel like this is
a step forward for me.
I am so happy.
