-[Richard] No, about three hours.
[all laughing]
-Hey, how's it going?
-[Jon] This is Brandon.
-Nice to meet you. Hi, Brandon.
-Brian, nice to meet you.
[Brandon] I think Jon gives me
opportunities because I ask for them,
and he sees me a lot.
I am walking through a listing
with Jon today that's under construction.
It's gonna be remodeled.
This is Jon's client's listing.
And he's hired Richard Landry
to overhaul this thing.
-We got a couple renderings to share.
-[Jon] I'm dying to see it.
[Brandon] Richard Landry
is a world-renowned architect.
An icon. He's built amazing homes.
Everybody knows him for Tom Brady
and the large home
that he's built in Beverly Park.
He's really known for excellence.
[upbeat music playing]
[Jon] I kind of get heebie-jeebies
just even standing in the room.
[Brandon] Why?
[Jon] Do you not know
the history behind this house?
-[Brandon] No.
-Okay. This is the infamous murder house.
If you type into Google "murder house,"
this is the very first thing that pops up.
-Now you tell me?
-[Jon laughs] Yeah!
So, in the late '50s, there was a family
living here, the Perelsons.
The husband had a psychotic break,
he just lost his mind.
He took a ball-peen hammer
into this room where we're standing,
to his wife, who was sleeping in bed,
and with one strike
just bludgeoned her to death.
Oh, my God.
The kids were able to escape,
and I guess the husband,
from what I understand,
laid down next to the wife,
swallowed a bunch of pills,
and killed himself.
So it was a murder-suicide.
[man] But what you see on the floor
is not blood, just dust.
-[Jon] Those are termite droppings.
-True. True.
[Brandon] Never been so happy
to see termite droppings.
[Jon] So, the house sat here for 62 years
completely abandoned.
If I would've known
this was the murder house,
I would have said a prayer for me
and everybody.
I'm not a big sager and cleanser,
but I will be today.
Have you guys ever worked on a house
with this kind of past?
Actually, we have. The Sharon Tate house.
You worked on the Sharon Tate house? Okay.
These are now the two
most famous murder houses in LA.
[Jon] So, this house
has quite an infamous past.
It's gonna take a lot of work
to scrub that stain off of it
and transform it into something new.
Wow! Oh, my gosh. Guys.
-Honestly, guys, it's amazing.
-[Richard] Thank you.
I've seen Richard's plans
and it's stunning.
He's going to completely
transform this house.
When this home is finished,
it is, without a doubt,
gonna be one of
the most spectacular homes,
not just in Los Feliz,
but on the east side of Los Angeles.
Thank you, guys.
I know you guys gotta run.
Thank you so much. Great seeing you.
-[Brandon] Good to meet you.
