Criminal Minds: Suspect Behavior s01e06 Episode Script

Devotion

Here you go! Throw me the ball! Nice.
We did it.
Everybody out.
- Whoa.
- Oh.
Are we here? [Chuckles.]
Not yet, kiddo.
We have to hike into the woods a little.
Wait, waitWhat, what? Excuse me? I'm sorry, that wasn't part of the deal.
Three hours in the car, and then hiking? Yeah.
We'll make it before sundown.
All right.
Fine.
- It's just one quick photo.
- Right.
I'm in, it's totally fun.
It's gonna be so fun.
I'm so excited about that.
I'm really excited.
Who are you waving at? That man.
He's following us.
I don't see anybody.
Come with me.
- Let's follow your father.
- Let's go, guys.
[Chuckles.]
Ten seconds.
Don't move.
- [Whispers.]
Smile.
- I'm hungry.
Smile and hold still, kiddo.
Wait for the beep.
Why is this a big deal, anyway? [Camera beeps.]
For your grandma.
I came here as a boy.
She has the same picture with me and grandpa.
They're gonna love this.
We'll get chocolate chip pancakes after.
- Awesome! - [Chuckles.]
Are you sure you pressed the right button? This thing never works.
[Beeping.]
Give it a sec.
[Static crackles.]
Shoot.
Battery's dead.
- Of course it is.
- [Sighs.]
All righty then, let's come back tomorrow.
- Who's hungry? - Me.
- Me too.
- Hold onFive minutes.
I'll be right back.
I promise.
[Sighs.]
- Raindrops.
- Yeah, perfect.
Okay.
Batteries, batteries, come on.
[Thud.]
[Panting.]
Why are you doing this? You know.
You have to let me go.
[Muffled groaning.]
Don't make promises you can't keep.
[Grunting.]
Watch! Good morning.
Bad morning? Pack up.
We're gonna leave in ten.
All right Two nights ago in Omaha, Armen Aguerro, 48, construction worker, he was celebrating his birthday in a restaurant in the mall.
He went to the bathroom and never returned.
30 minutes later, they find him in a parking garage, murdered.
He had traces of chloroform in his throat.
Any signs it was a hate crime? It was flagged by the bureau as a possible.
But then, earlier tonight Kevin Laughlin was found in Joliet, Illinois.
He was also bound, gagged, and chloroformed.
One man's Hispanic, one's white.
It doesn't feel racially motivated.
Blitz attack to incapacitate, chloroform to control, and the hangman's noose to kill.
- It's the same M.
O.
- Unsub taped their hands together like he wants them to pray for their lives.
Very significant signature.
Face bloats from constriction, body hemorrhage, petechia pops in the eyes, - these men were in agony.
- It's a dramatic way to kill.
State troopers believe that the killer is moving along this highway here.
All the incidents have occurred right outside the exits.
One victim hanged last night, the next this evening.
- It's a kill a night.
- Unsub could be anywhere.
We better figure out where before the next nightfall.
Why'd you make me watch that? Just let me go.
Body's been transported to the morgue.
His name is Kevin Laughlin.
He was attacked over here by his car.
His wife and daughter were taking photos out by the lake.
Dad runs back to his vehicle, never returns.
Family gets spooked, calls us.
We find him about an hour later, dead in the woods.
Anybody else over here picnicking? Yeah, a few, but nobody saw a damn thing.
The last family out said the victim's car was the only one left in the lot.
Whoever did this is either very careful or very lucky.
Any signs of a struggle or any drag marks? Yeah, a few drops of blood here by the car.
A few drag marks in the mud.
Rain washed almost everything else away.
Not everything.
We know the unsub was driving.
Mick and Beth, I want you to find out where the car was.
Prophet, the victim was blitzed here.
I want you to walk the steps of the killer all the way back to the murder site.
I wanna see what he saw.
Nothing matters more than the family.
Where are they? The daughter and the wife are right over there.
We just wandered around in the dark.
You know, calling his name, and I'm very sorry for your loss.
They still won't let me see him.
Somebody hung him? I'm trying to figure out who, and why he did this.
He's my best friend.
I've known him since high school.
And now he's gone.
He's just gone.
So I don't know what difference it makes why.
And she's only six years old.
She doesn't understand.
And she's gonna grow up without a father.
It's gonna take her a little time.
[Crying.]
I'm sorry.
You know what she did tell me, though.
That she saw a guy.
She saw someone wearing a hood.
She told me.
I didn't see him and I didn't pay attention, and I didn't say anything.
And I should've said something to Kevin because Mrs.
Laughlin.
Mrs.
Laughlin, look at me, look at me.
There is no blame that can be taken here.
There's nothing that you could've done differently.
Nothing.
Now the man with the hood, where exactly did your daughter see him? I wanna talk to you about what happened, is that okay? My dad said he'd be right back.
I know he did.
I work with the FBI.
Do you know who we are? We're like the big police.
I know you're probably all mixed-up inside.
But if you need anything, I'm here for you, okay? We're on the right track.
Really? Is that what your monocle says? 'Cause I feel like we've been walking in circles.
Well, it's actually a spot and score, Beth.
And rather specifically, a mil-dot reticle shows a clearing in the tree line.
Oh, a mil-dot reticle.
Well, in that case I'm satisfied.
Ow.
Ow! Wham, bam, and thank you, ma'am.
- Tire tracks, very nice.
- Secluded.
It's away from the main roads Looks like the unsub stopped here at some point.
It was definitely a car, not a truck.
Well, that's evident.
Rather specifically, bias ply tires, 0-8s, I'm gonna say it's an American-made vehicle.
If you look at the spacing of the wheels, it's definitely older, maybe even predates 1985.
I suppose you know what color it is as well.
- Blue.
- Are you serious? No.
There's a substance right here.
What is that? Looks like candle wax.
- Paraffin? - Yeah.
[Phone ringing.]
Sam, we found where the unsub parked his car.
The last gas station the family stopped at was an hour west.
It's where the daughter first saw the guy following them.
I want you and Mick to head there.
Absolutely.
I love road trips.
[Phone beeps.]
I hate road trips.
There's still the impression of the three-legged stool.
He used it to suspend the victim.
It took this guy 12 minutes to attack, then drag, - bind, noose, and lift him.
- That's quick.
Yeah, it's quick.
And he had to have the upper-body strength to hoist the victim too.
So we're definitely looking at a guy here.
But he could've strangled him.
- Why'd he have to hang the guy? - He's making a statement.
The scene was arranged, perhaps to serve as a fantasy ritual of some sort? To shock whoever finds the body? The footprints in these crime scene photos, they lead to this tree.
You think that he was nervous? Stood by that tree, second-guessed himself? Well, something made him pace here.
I mean, why that point-of-view? Why not that one? Why is that perspective so important to him? He's admiring his work, watching his victim suffer.
Why not get a front row seat? Why's he gonna admire his work from back there? Maybe this isn't a hanging.
Maybe this man was lynched.
There's a difference? Lynchings are usually for an audience.
It's not a solitary event.
So you think there was someone else here? There's heel marks right here.
As if somebody was propped up against this tree.
You got something? The bark is worn around the circumference.
Could be a rope burn.
I think that someone was carried here.
Or tied up against this tree and they were made to watch.
I can't feel my legs.
Please.
I won't tell anyone.
You know I won't.
[Distant car door closes.]
Stop talking to me.
Honey, I'm getting home as quick as I can.
It's our daughter's first birthday.
I won't miss it.
[Thud.]
[Glass breaking.]
[Crying.]
Please.
I'll be quiet.
I'll fix this.
Smile.
Two victims, two different states.
As of now, we don't think these victims are connected.
Totally different socioeconomic backgrounds, ethnicities, careers.
The unsub is targeting these men as crimes of opportunity, as in, random people along this road? This highway shoots off into multiple directions.
We can't possibly cover all of them.
We won't.
We believe he'll stick to this route.
These are high-risk kill sites.
He prefers them.
The alternate roads, they're rural and they're less populated.
Once the unsub targets these men, he stalks them and then he strikes.
This tells us he's mission-oriented.
He drives an old American car.
He's traveling with someone.
Somebody that we believe he's holding against their will.
Keep in mind, this is one kill a night.
To anticipate his future, we need to get a better handle on his past.
So I got half my guys backtracking, I got the rest of them racing forward.
My people will cover as many rest stops and exits - as possible.
- Good.
We gotta make our presence known.
There's no time, there's no room for mistakes.
We've gotta get ahead of this guy.
I don't think I recognize them.
You're sure? They bought two bags of crisps, some 89 octane petrol, and a can of Pepsi.
A lot of people pass through here.
There would've been a man with a hooded sweatshirt here at the same time.
We think he's following that family.
Well, if it wasn't a local, and not one of my regular truck drivers, I wouldn't have paid much attention.
I'm sorry, but we just see so many people a day.
Can we see your surveillance footage? Oh, it don't work.
That's just for show.
We don't have much trouble around here.
Paula, you're the eyes and ears of this place, so we'd like to explain to you how he would've acted.
- Acted? - Yeah, his behavior.
Yeah, he would've just lingered in the store, not necessarily purchased anything.
Sort of browsing the aisles, trying to look inconspicuous.
But if he noticed you were suspicious, he probably would've tried to engage you in small talk.
There was a guy that came in asking about cheap motels.
And he didn't look like he had much money.
Did you notice anything unusual about him? Um, he was kinda wired.
Kinda like his nerves were unsettled.
I can't draw you a police sketch if that's what you're asking.
Now, Paula, tell us, are there any cheap motels along this highway? Yeah, there's a Shiny Dime motel about 40 miles away, - and he did buy stuff.
- What kind of stuff? The unsub purchased fresh flowers, cheap perfume, blue candles.
That's the same type of paraffin that was found at the crime scene.
So this other person's a girl.
We should check the NAMUS database for girls reported missing.
I'm the killer.
I just lynched a guy in Omaha.
I can feel the adrenaline pumping through my veins.
So I see a gas station.
I pull over.
And there's a guy there and his family.
Kevin.
And you follow him and his family 100 miles to a picnic area.
Because I'm obsessed.
I'm addicted.
So I wait until he's alone, I catch him And I lynch him too.
I get to watch him struggle.
I get to watch him suffer.
I get to watch him suffocate.
So I get back in my car and I look for someone else.
- Rinse and repeat.
- There's no cooling off period.
He targets his next victim right away.
So he's already chosen who he's gonna kill next.
You say he's driving an American car? Honey, you're at a Shiny Dime motel in the Midwest.
Every other car is gonna be American.
He may have asked for some privacies.
Traveling with a girl, but he would've kept her - hidden from you.
- You're at a Shiny Dime motel.
Maybe there was a "do not disturb" sign potentially on the door? Well, we don't exactly have maid service here.
There was a guy who asked for a specific room.
- I thought he was a little odd.
- Little odd, how? Well, he was jumpy and nervous, gave me the creeps, and he smelled real weird.
He asked for that room at the end.
Did you get a name? Mm, no, he didn't give me one.
It was late, he prepaid cash.
Never officially checked out.
- Oh, you smell that? - That is a lot of perfume.
The blinds.
Duct-taped shut.
Blue candle wax everywhere.
Stuck in the damn carpet.
Air conditioning unit, luggage rack, bedspread So you're certain that you heard no struggle.
There was no girl in here? I just rent the rooms, I don't get into their business.
- Hey, Beth, this is our guy.
- What do you got? I've got crystal-clear enamel, bleach, acetone, rubbing alcohol, and empty bags of ice.
All ingredients for homemade chloroform.
- Why this room? - From this window, you've got a pretty good vantage point as a stalker.
You can see all the cars from here.
I need to see a copy of your guest registry, please.
The unsub left the hotel a mess.
But but when he kills It's neat, it's swift, it's to the point.
Brings a stool, rope, and chloroform to capture and kill efficiently.
Leaves nothing behind there.
Then how can he be so meticulous on the one hand, yet chaotic on the other? Moments before he hangs them, he's looking at what? A man pleading for his life.
- The girl he forces to watch.
- Yeah, but what is he doing? - What is he feeling? - Thrill.
Or he wants her to see the victim's pain.
This could be revenge on her behalf.
That's possible.
If these men are random targets, then they gotta represent someone very specific to this unsub.
You think he's killing surrogates? - Both family men, blue collar.
- All right, so The unsub kills the first victim at a restaurant with his relatives close by.
The next vic is in the woods near his wife and daughter.
You're right.
[Phone rings.]
Something about this family dynamic is triggering him.
Okay, so I checked the V.
I.
P.
guest list of the illustrious Shiny Dime motel.
Which by the way, is not a very big list.
There's an elderly couple no kids, a couple of single truck drivers, and a salesman named Otis Meredith, whose company put him up there.
Which, by the way, was offensively cheap of them.
He checked out about an hour ago.
He has a wife and a baby.
[Folk music playing on radio.]
Where is he now? Yeah, I'm trying to pinpoint his exact location.
I'm tracking his outgoing cell phone calls.
[Phone beeping.]
911, what is your emergency? Yeah, hey, I think there's been an accident.
[Beeps.]
Wait He has an active call out right now to the highway patrol.
Something about an accident on the road.
You got his location? I don't know.
The guy's not moving.
Is he hurt? Uh, okay, let me check.
Sir, are you okay? Come on, we're losing minutes, all right? Okay, I'm trying to do a cell triangulation.
Gah, there's only one tower out there pinging.
I can't give you his exact location, I'm so sorry.
He's somewhere within a 20-mile radius of you.
- What about satellite images? - It's night, you're all in the middle of bumble-hoo, I can't get any clean views.
All right, put me through to his cell phone, make an emergency breakthrough, whatever you gotta do.
Okay, okay, I'm trying that now.
I got the police on the line.
Can you move? Sir, are you still there? Don't make promises you can't keep.
'Cause you can't always fix them.
- [Struggled whimpers.]
- Watch! You don't have to do this anymore.
Haven't you had enough? - Almost.
- [Struggled whimpers.]
[Crying.]
[Muffled yelling.]
Watch! Watch! [Muffled yelling.]
[Gagging.]
[Distant siren wails.]
- I got multi-county APBs out.
- I'm gonna need you to set up more roadblocks and more checkpoints.
With all due respect, agent Cooper, but another body dropped.
Now, you guys are the FBI.
We're all hunting the best way we can, but we are already spread out so thin that You're gonna have to understand that when we hunt, we may lose battles, but we win wars.
This guy, he's gonna crash and burn.
And when he does, I'm gonna be there.
I've got this idea on why this guy changes methodology.
Why he chose a father traveling alone.
Gina.
Another kid grows up without a father.
This is why I never want a family.
Family is the one real thing we have in this world.
Without it, we're adrift, we're lost.
What does that say about us? We're gonna get this guy.
And you're gonna bring closure to that little girl.
The unsub stomped the victim's cell phone.
But the line wasn't cut.
We got it all.
Yeah? So this bed is completely untouched.
But there was someone lying here.
But they didn't roll over, didn't get under the covers, - didn't move.
- Well, it makes sense.
If it was the girl that he abducted - she could've been tied up.
- But why didn't he sleep? What if he didn't sleep because he can't? - You think he's using? - Not necessarily.
He eluded authorities, but he's paranoid and not very sophisticated about it.
And the witnesses, they said that the unsub was fidgety and nervous.
I mean, that doesn't seem like an experienced offender to me.
But he's proficient enough to kill.
I know we're not supposed to jump to conclusions without a full clinical evaluation, but I think we're - dealing with a schizophrenic.
- Oh, great.
His reason's subverted by his own crazy internal agenda.
It's not that simple.
There's a constellation of symptoms.
In this case, fractured speech, paranoia, persecutory delusions.
There's not one thing that's pathognomonic to this.
- And? - And They're very treatable with the right medication.
- You don't agree? - Doesn't matter what I think.
All I care about is preventing him from killing again.
So the only options for you We either catch him or kill him.
- Sir, are you still there? - [Struggled groaning.]
'Cause you can't always fix them.
It's almost like he's preaching.
I'm the victim, he wants me begging for my life.
Your mouth is taped, you can't respond.
- [Muffled whimpers.]
- Almost.
- [Muffled whimpers.]
- You hear that? Who's he talking to? If it's not the victim, it's gotta be his prisoner.
Almost there, almost Almost finished? I mean, do you think he has an endgame? If she speaks to him Why can't we hear it? [Muffled whimpers, screams.]
[Clattering.]
Wait a second.
I'm sorry, Sam, you're gonna have to repeat that.
You want me to do what? What? He wants you to smell the bed.
- Listen.
- [Muffled whimpers.]
- Listen.
Listen carefully.
- Watch! [Muffled whimpers, screams.]
Otis is gonna die.
He knows it.
But he sees something worse.
Something more horrifying.
Something that shocks him to the bone.
[Sniffs.]
Oh.
What if She's not a prisoner? What if she's Already dead? Please.
You have to let me go.
I can't.
The unsub is traveling with a girl who's dead? Yeah.
Think about it.
She doesn't react, she doesn't struggle, she doesn't try to run away, none of that.
He bought all that stuff not to romance her, but to conceal the smell.
I'll fix this.
The candle wax seals the decomp in the skin, perfume staves off the smell.
He's postponing the death.
Yeah, but what about the flowers? What if he gives her the flowers in this beautiful gesture to honor her? To show her that she's precious to him.
Could we be dealing with a necrophile? - I really hope not.
- Whatever the reason, he's interacting with her as if she's alive.
We gotta change the profile.
All right, there's this case from the 1930s This doctor preserved the body of a dead patient for over eight years, having an intimate relationship with her the entire time.
Happened recently in California.
Real estate agent drove her friend's corpse around Costa Mesa for a month before she was finally caught.
Delusional offenders who can't come to terms with the death of a loved one.
Her death has gotta be the stressor.
We gotta find the root of this relationship.
Let's take a look at his path.
Nebraska, Illinois, Ohio.
All along this highway, skipping states in between.
Kills in one, stalks in the next, kill, stalk, kill.
If she's decomposing, she died recently.
First kill is in Nebraska.
Let's assume he started there.
As an end point, the geo-profile predicts Maryland, Virginia, or D.
C.
Could that be right? This is all too thin.
It's just too thin.
- Night of the living weird.
- Got any luck with morgues? Okay, I checked hospitals, cemeteries, funeral homes.
There are no dug up, shallow graves at least none reported.
There are no stolen cadavers in your vicinity, or elsewhere for that matter.
Were you able to clean the audio on that 911 call? Ah, yes I was, though it's not gonna do you any good because there's really nothing there to clean.
I think you heard every word.
But I was thinking Now, this unsub, you were saying that his mind would be kinda kooka-looka, with everything out-of-flux, right? Well, schizophrenia is a neuro-developmental disorder, right? The phrenologic deficits in the brain would make it, you know, easy to have things go out of sequence.
- Oh, like an anagram? - Yes! And I love, love, love word jumbles.
So I went ahead and did a variation.
Most notably, I rearranged the words to "because you can't always keep promises but you can fix them.
" And Why does that sound so familiar? Because it is the slogan of a Grant Nichols.
He's a local businessman who's running for city council right here in D.
C.
Does this help? Yeah, D.
C.
's in line with the geo-profile.
You guys go talk to him.
Penelope, you did good.
Shoot us the address.
Yes, sir.
And I want you to meet me at the office.
Yes, si HeyMe? Yeah.
Mick and Beth are on the road.
I need every bit of help I can get.
Well Sweet.
I'm kind of flattered, and kind of excited.
Why do you think this man would target me? Well, he's killed three men already, and for whatever reason, there's a direct connection to your campaign.
- You got a family? - A wife and a daughter.
Where are they? My wife is taking our daughter to volleyball practice.
I just spoke with her.
Okay, have you ever lived in Omaha, or Ohio, Iowa? No.
My family's from Cape Cod.
I don't understand why this person would be interested in me.
I'm just a guy running for city council.
That campaign slogan I came up with, it was just a grassroots challenge, a call to improve the city.
Though we did broadcast it regionally, so it could've been picked up on the radio or in the paper.
But I still don't see how anyone would misinterpret that.
This guy's psychotic.
Anybody here could be a target.
How many people you have working in the building? We occupy three floors.
There's over 150 of us.
Please.
Question any of them.
If one of my employees is in danger, I'm gonna do everything I can to help.
I'll have my assistant get the hr records for you.
Thanks.
Three floors in this? Better act fast.
So I kill in Omaha, but Why am I driving to D.
C.
? Okay, I'm gonna start by checking Nebraska medical records for diagnosed cases of schizophrenia.
Though not all of them are reported.
- We gotta dig deeper.
- No pun intended.
Get it? Shallow graves, 'cause you just said "dig" Moving on.
All right, so The girl next to me is dead.
Yep.
So I'm gonna add delusional.
The guy in front of me, he's got a noose around his neck.
He's begging me for his life.
There are these contradictory thoughts coursing through me.
Nothing makes any sense.
And this phrase Don't make promises that you can't keep! 'Cause you can't always fix them! So he dies.
And I just feel so empty.
And the sorrow is so deep inside of me.
I don't have any empathy.
And the terror, it's justCold.
When I kill, it burns.
And I can't stop even though it's burning.
What is wrong with me? Maybe you had psychotic breaks like this in the past.
Like, you've always had hallucinations, and you've been delusional.
She's real to me! Then you've probably acted crazy like this in the past in front of some sort of authority figure, don't you think? Like a teacher or parent.
Yes, but What if I'm alone? Check foster children, ages 17 to 30.
Track birth records from the mid-'80s to the mid-'90s.
I adore her.
I gave her flowers.
There's no sexual feeling here.
Maybe siblings.
Look into employment records, because I haven't been able to keep a steady job.
Okay, what about this? Michael Vinoda.
He bounced around to a bunch of foster families growing up.
He lost his last job because he said Voices were talking to him in his head.
He has no physical address.
His pay stubs are sent to an old farm, and fun fact, he drives an old Ford Ltd.
- Oh.
- Poor thing.
It's emaciated.
It's probably been here a while.
- God, I can't stand it.
- You're a bad-ass sniper.
Surely you've encountered dead bodies.
It's not that.
It's the It's the smell, I can't stomach it.
Well, buck up and adjust your skirt, 'cause we gotta keep going.
[Quietly.]
Oh.
Michael and his sister are living here like this? In squalor.
So he comes home, finds his sister hanging, doesn't know what to do.
Got no electricity, no money, nobody to turn to.
Why didn't he just call the hospital? Because he just sat with her.
Can you imagine the overwhelming anguish and loneliness? They only had each other, and then it's gone.
Still, it doesn't excuse what he did.
No, but it's very sad.
I'm sure he dug a grave and never used it.
There was a three-legged stool here.
You think it's possible that he killed her? No.
If you look around you, everything here's neglected, but not her things.
I think he cherished her.
Hey.
If he did this, it's not out of violence.
He's suffering terribly.
I know why this girl hung herself.
Excuse me, can I help you? - Where's grant? - Grant Nichols Moved to D.
C.
to try to start a new life with a new family.
A lifetime of rejection.
The daughter, she saw this She couldn't take it, so she hangs herself.
Her brother needs their father to feel the same kind of coldness and emptiness that broke him in two.
How does this end well? Honey! I need you to pack a couple of overnight bags.
When's Erica get home? Kristen, honey? You you home? Oh, my God.
[Muffled screams.]
Hi, dad.
He doesn't even know who we are! Of course I do.
You're my children.
What happened to her? Please Do what you want with me, but leave my family out of this.
Your family? Put your hands together.
Here's your rifle.
Hold my gun for me, will you? That's the house right there.
Beth, I want you to run tactical.
You're going to be my eyes and ears.
Gina, I want you to flank around the back, and Prophet, you're gonna come with me.
All right.
They're at the dining room table, he's armed.
Where do you want me to set up? Wherever you can get a shot.
Mick, I want you to acquire target bravo.
- All right? - Okay.
There's not a day goes by that I don't think of you.
When the FBI came, I knew right away.
What I did to you, it was wrong.
Let's talk, father to son.
I'm so sorry.
She doesn't want your apology.
[Sobbing.]
Watch.
Stop.
I'm unarmed.
Tami, can I speak to you, please? Michael, he doesn't wanna do this.
He's just So tired.
Don't you talk to her! Okay, Gina.
Go in slow, he's aimed right at Sam.
The mother and daughter are at the opposite end of the dining room.
Mick? I'm locked on, cold zero.
Your brother, he's in so much agony.
The hurt just won't go away.
It's just so deep 'cause he's so devoted to you.
Could you tell him what you need him to do so that he can let you go? Tami's okay now that she met him.
She's not smiling.
I'm so sorry.
- You left! - After your mother left me.
Listen, Michael, the doctors told me you had so many problems, and I knew how much you were suffering, and I couldn't support you.
But you left her too! Why'd you give Tami up? You abandoned your kids because you thought they were defective? You have a responsibility as a parent.
You encourage, you nurture.
Even if you think things are gonna go wrong.
You just threw them away like they were garbage? What gives you the right to hide behind your money, your fears? You are a coward.
Look at her face.
Look at your daughter.
You did this! [Sobbing.]
See that look, Michael? That's what Tami wanted.
To know that he knew what he did was wrong.
And I know that, deep down inside, you know that Tami doesn't wanna be here.
Please.
You gotta let me go.
Drop the gun, Michael.
You don't wanna hurt anybody else.
Michael, your sister, she needs your help.
Mick [Gunshot.]
Again.
[Gunshot.]
Hold.
Give him some space.
Tami.
No! No! No! Put a .
308 round in your sister.
She didn't feel any pain, Michael.
- [Sobbing.]
- 'Cause she's dead.
Tami! No, Tami.
- Michael, let's go.
- No.
[Softly wails.]
[Whispers.]
I'm so sorry.
[Whispering blessing.]
God bless you in the next life.
[Siren whoops.]
When we shoot, we shoot to kill.
This was unorthodox, to say the least.
I'll have hell to pay with the bureau lawyers.
I'll take the heat.
These are yours.
You were supposed to have read them.
And you're not getting my vote.
A little salt in the wound, huh? He deserves it.
She'll receive a proper burial.
It's just sad her brother will never know where she ends up.
At least now she can rest in peace.
This guy, he sparked a lot of mess.
It's not just about abandoning his kids.
It's what it took to make him realize how wrong he was.
Every unhappy family is unhappy in their own way.
But us, we're like five fingers on the same hand.
We anchor each other.
Good work.
