[insects chirping]
[starts engine]
THE NIGHT LILLY DISAPPEARED
AIM: SO? DID YOU DELETE TOO?
[ringing tone]
[sighs]
[sighs]
[music bending]
[breathing shakily]
[siren whoops]
[siren wailing]
[siren continues]
[siren stops]
[car alert ringing]
[car door slams]
[train chugging]
Is there a problem?
[ominous music playing]
[car alert continues ringing]
[Yutthachai grunts]
[train horn blaring]
[Lilly whimpering softly]
[grunts]
[gasps]
[groans]
- [rattling]
- [thump]
[gasps]
[breathing shakily]
Oh
[whimpering]
[gasping]
[sobbing]
[key turning in lock]
[ominous music playing]
[scraping]
[door closes]
[Lilly whimpering]
The phone with the power to delete.
Where have you put it?
Mmm
What phone?
You know.
I really don't know. [shivers]
I have no idea what you're talking about.
[Yutthachai] I asked a question.
Where did you put the damn phone?
[crying]
I don't
I don't have it anymore.
I lost the phone.
- [whimpers]
- Listen to me.
I am only going to count to three.
- [continues whimpering]
- One.
I put the phone in my handbag.
I always keep it there.
[gasps] But then when I looked again,
it was gone.
[sobbing] Gone!
Two.
[wailing]
[sobbing] Maybe maybe
maybe it fell out of my handbag,
Or maybe someone took it. Someone took it!
[continues crying]
Believe me, I don't know where it is!
Three.
[screaming] No!
Do you think I'm scared?
You think I won't kill you?
You have to believe me!
Stop! That's enough!
- She doesn't have it.
- [Lilly] I don't know where it is!
[sobbing]
I don't have it!
- Calm down.
- [Lilly continues crying]
Please let me go!
I don't know where the phone is.
Please let me go, please!
[woman sighs]
- I don't have it anymore.
- The girl you deleted.
Do you know who she was?
Her name was Claire.
She was our daughter.
[ominous music playing]
After a photo of Lalita Wongroongroj
and Arthit Thammanit,
the famous author and presenter,
was leaked online yesterday,
police have started to investigate
Mr. Arthit's involvement
in the recent disappearance
of Mrs. Wongroongroj.
- [woman] Any updates, Captain?
- [man] Make way.
Yes. Mr. Arthit is being treated
as a suspect.
For the moment, we are gathering evidence
to determine his involvement
in the case of Lalita's disappearance.
[woman] Do you believe Mr. Arthit is
involved in her disappearance?
I don't know,
and I don't care who took my wife.
All that matters
is that she returns home safely.
If the police cannot find evidence,
then I will find it.
I will stop at nothing
to bring my wife back home.
[woman] Do you have anything else
you wish to say to Lilly?
Lilly
don't worry.
I'm going to find you.
I promise.
[reporters clamoring]
[woman] Disputes are continuing between
the government
and the indigenous Karen tribes
over the allocation of native lands.
They have not been allocated
land for traditional farming.
This is a cause of considerable
concern and conflict,
and prevents the Karen
from establishing any viable livelihood.
The Government contends
that the Karen are not authorized
to practice shifting cultivation
[wind rustling]
ongoing disagreement between both groups.
One activist, Porlajee Rakchongcharoen,
also known as Billy,
had been fighting for many years
for the return of the Karen peoples
of Ban Pong Luek Bank Kloi
to their traditional lands,
known as the "Heart of the Earth."
He argues that the Karen people
have lived on this land for centuries,
long before it was transformed
into a National Park,
and therefore have the right to stay.
In April 2014, Billy was arrested
by park rangers
[whimpering]
checkpoint.
At the time of his arrest,
authorities accused Billy
of illegally being in possession
of wild honey.
Soon after, Billy suddenly disappeared.
For years, no one has been able
to confirm if he is alive or dead.
[yelps]
[groans]
rangers to continue searching for him.
Local authorities argued they did not have
the manpower or resources
to keep up the search,
but many argue there are other reasons.
In 2011,
Billy was one of the main witnesses
when park rangers and army helicopters
raided and destroyed
[turns volume up] .a remote Karen village
in Kaeng Krachan National Park.
Then in 2014,
Billy disappeared without a trace.
Unexpectedly, in 2019,
the Department of Special Investigations
held a press conference to provide further
information about Billy's disappearance.
The DSI had discovered new
evidence in Billy's case.
- [door rattling]
- [gasps]
In a burned-out 200-liter oil drum,
they discovered
fragments of human bones.
At the scene,
they also discovered electric wires,
charcoal and an oil drum cap.
- Why is the TV volume so loud?
- The bone fragments
were sent to a forensics laboratory
for DNA testing.
Results confirmed
that the DNA from the bone fragments
matched the DNA of Billy's mother,
Mrs Pororjee Rakchongcharoen.
With this new forensic report
and previous information gathered,
the DSI have been able to confirm
that the bones belonged to Billy.
- Trying to escape?
- They can now confirm his death.
Despite the fact
that his body was incinerated,
authorities cannot yet confirm
[sound fades] the cause of his death.
[sighs]
[wind howling]
Help me! Is there anyone there?
Help me!
You're bleeding.
Why did you kidnap me?
I didn't mean to delete your daughter.
She just asked me to take her photo.
I didn't know
that the phone could delete anyone.
Keeping me locked up
won't bring Claire back.
Actually, it will.
Now that we have you,
we can bring Claire back.
I don't understand.
Once we find the phone,
then we can delete you,
and Claire can come home.
Uh why do you think that'll work?
I've seen it done.
Every day, after school,
Claire would wait at the hospital
to go home with me.
She would spend her time
visiting and talking to the patients.
She was close to one particular patient.
And then one day, that patient simply
disappeared.
It was all the more surprising,
because this patient was paralyzed.
She couldn't even move her body.
So, how could she just
disappear from the hospital?
Soon after, another patient disappeared.
People were saying that Claire was
the last person seen with those patients.
How could my daughter be
making these people disappear?
It wasn't too long after
that I learned how she did it.
[monitor beeping]
BENCHAWET HOSPITAL
You've been saying it all along.
Our decision to live is ours to take.
I know.
[gasping]
But, Nat, think about this, please.
What about the others you already helped?
Yeah, but they had lost all hope.
It's different for you.
There's still hope for you, Nat.
Do you know how many years I've been here?
And how many treatments
I've had to go through?
Wh what about your family?
Huh?
And your mother,
who has sacrificed so many things for you?
You can't just leave her like that.
She has to let me go, Claire.
[both crying]
My mom, she's drowning in debt.
You know why?
Because she's wasting all her money
to pay the hospital bills for me,
and I can't be cured.
It's breaking my heart.
It's better for everyone that I disappear.
Uh
Don't you wanna spend
more time with your mom?
Yes.
But if all we have left is this,
I'd rather disappear.
[Claire sobbing]
[ominous music playing]
[whimpering]
Are you ready?
One. [sniffles]
Two. [sobbing]
Hold on!
[loud whooshing]
[ticking]
[ticking slows]
[sustained beep sounds]
[Claire whimpering]
What is this thing, Claire?
How did she disappear?
- Did you do this to the other patients?
- [sobbing] They begged me!
How could you do this, Claire?
[Claire weeping]
What will we do if someone finds out?
[Claire continues sobbing]
[Claire's mother] My husband and I decided
that we should keep it a secret.
We thought it was the best solution.
[crying]
But we were wrong.
[pensive music playing]
Claire, dinner's ready.
Claire? Claire?
IT'S ALL MY FAUL
I'LL TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR THIS
DON'T COME LOOKING FOR ME
[Claire's mother] We searched for her
every day.
We thought she had just run away.
And then, one day,
we were told that she had last been seen
at a supermarket nearby.
[unnerving music playing]
[music intensifies]
[burst of static]
[intense, eerie music playing]
[clicks button]
After Claire was deleted,
all the missing patients came back.
But none of them can remember
what happened to them.
That's when we understood
what we had to do to bring Claire back.
We don't want to hurt you.
But we have no choice.
[sighs]
Can you wait until I have my child first?
Before you decide to delete me?
[crying]
What do you mean?
You'd do anything to save your child.
[chain rattling]
[sniffles]
So I'm begging you,
let me do this for mine.
[gasps]
[phone vibrating]
Hello?
Did you find it?
Where?
At a school?
June
[Claire's mother] Sure, okay.
Okay.
[door closes]
[ominous music playing]
[insects chirping]
[music fades]
[clattering]
[Claire's mother] Hey.
Lilly?
Wake up. Hey! Are you all right?
[tense music playing]
[gasping, panting]
Let me go.
[screams]
[crashing]
[lock rattling]
[screaming]
[handcuffs clicking]
[Lilly] Let me go. Aah!
[whimpering]
[clattering]
[Claire's mother] No! No! Wait!
- [Lilly gasping]
- [Claire's mother] Come back!
Get back here!
[tense music builds]
[breathing shakily]
[thunder rumbling]
[thunder crashing]
[groaning]
Are you okay? What happened?
I'm fine. Don't worry about me.
Go after her. Quickly! Now!
[sobbing]
- Ma'am, what happened to you?
- Help me. I need to borrow your phone.
Oh, you want my phone?
Here.
- [groans]
- Easy. Are you okay?
You're the woman that was missing,
aren't you? Should I call the police?
[call ringing]
[Lilly] Too.
[sobbing] Please, help me.
It's Lilly. [weeping]
Can you hear me?
I've been kidnapped.
The policeman, he kidnapped me.
Lilly, where are you?
Uh I'm I'm in a supermarket.
- Where am I? What's the address?
- [assistant] Let me talk to them. Hello?
Yes. Where are you right now?
Okay. Uh, we're not too far
from where you are.
- Yeah, that's it. Follow that road.
- [gasps]
Drive straight.
The store is at the intersection
[whimpering]
[engine revving]
You can rest in here.
Easy, now. Get some rest.
I'll come get you
when your husband arrives.
Hello? Officer?
Yeah. I think I just found
the missing woman from the news.
[phone ringing]
[exhaling]
[horn blaring]
I'm with the police.
- You called about the missing woman?
- Yes, sir.
Where is she right now?
I took her to the back, so she could rest.
- Take me there.
- Of course, this way.
[gasps]
Follow me.
She's in here.
Hold on.
[assistant] Yeah?
