Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin (2022) s01e06 Episode Script

Chapter Six: Scars

It happened over the summer.
I was working at the Orpheum with Chip.
This group of kids from
school came in one night.
They said that there was a bonfire party
happening later that night
in the woods behind the school
and did I wanna come.
I did.
Uh, sure.
So, I asked Chip to cover for me.
You're shitting me.
You want to party with a bunch
of meatheads and their girlfriends?
It was
a good time
at first.
But then things took a turn.
I didn't think that I had
had that much to drink,
but I, I got dizzy lightheaded.
I remember thinking
I needed to get home,
so I started walking.
Next thing I knew
I was deeper in the woods
away from everyone else
on the ground.
Then he
he was on top of me.
Was it Tyler?
Is that why you were so
mad at him last night?
I thought it might've been,
but I cyber-stalked him,
and he was on a family
vacation that same weekend,
so it couldn't have been him.
I-I don't know who it was.
Tabby
I am so
so sorry that happened to you.
- Did you tell your mom?
- I couldn't.
I haven't told anyone until
right now.
I, um
I don't know
who it was either.
And I remember even less than you do.
I'm sorry, Imogen.
You don't have to talk about
it if you don't want to.
- Would that be okay?
- Of course.
Come here.
Hm.
Tabby
tomorrow after school,
would you come with me
to see this potential source?
Joseph England.
'Member, he called and said
he knew Angela and our moms?
- Definitely.
- Cool.
Apparently, he, um
lives at a train yard.
FYI.
I was wondering, Ms. Clarke,
if you could add some
fabric to my corset.
What's the problem?
- I could add a mesh panel.
- Thank you, Ms. Clarke.
Some exciting news, class.
I've invited the director
of repertoire at ABT,
Madame Lorraine, to
come see "Swan Lake."
Also, she'll be in class tomorrow
to critique anyone valiant enough
to perform a variation for her.
Let me know by the end of the day.
Kelly wait up.
Can we talk?
I was out of line saying
all those things to you
You should know, Faran
when I told Giry about all the
crazy shit you spewed at me,
she was ready to throw
you out of "Swan Lake."
The only reason you are still here
is because I told her not to.
Hey, you didn't text me
back after Halloween.
Sorry. My moms were kinda
pissed I missed curfew.
Oh, shit. Will they
ever let you out again?
Actually, I think so.
We're workin' on trust.
Why? What are you thinkin'?
I was thinking, us, bowling
Tomorrow night.
Millwood Lane hosts cosmic hour at 7:00.
Would that be cool?
Yeah, yeah. That would be cool.
Great.
It's a date.
- You wanted to see me, Coach?
- I did.
Sandy fractured her foot
during an indoor trial.
Her spot is yours if you want it.
I-I-I do, Coach D.
I appreciate you thinking of me, but
I've just got too much
going on at home right now.
But spring semester, I'm all yours.
Do you like this one, Angela?
I do, Corey, it's pretty.
Great, 'cause we're all getting
our first initials in this style.
Right here.
- Who's goin' first?
- My friend Angela is.
Come on, Angie.
The girls are gonna
lose it when they see
how sick we look.
I'll be right behind you.
Vaseline.
Twice a day.
Got it?
Corey?
Figured you might be practicing for
a critique from Madame Giry's friend.
I am. I want Lorraine to see
that I can do more than
- just blend in with a gaggle of swans.
- Oh, please.
You couldn't blend in if you tried.
You pop. You're a star.
But, you know, it's cool that
you're presenting tomorrow.
To be honest, I wasn't
even sure you like dancing.
What?
Are you serious?
I mean
I don't like the politics
and pettiness around ballet.
But the actual dancing,
the purity of that
I love it.
Can I ask what happened to your back?
An accident?
No. Scoliosis.
I had corrective
surgery when I was eight.
You were dancing when you were eight?
My mother had me in
a tutu when I was six.
When my first ballet teacher
noticed the curve in my back,
my mom couldn't get me
to a doctor fast enough.
It had to be surgery? That young?
- You couldn't just wear a brace?
- Apparently.
And I wore a brace before
and after the surgery.
Fuck.
Does it ever hurt?
Your back.
Nothing I can't handle.
I should get home.
My mom's driving in
tonight, from Pittsburgh.
Is she comin' to class tomorrow?
Yes unfortunately.
- Go. I got it.
- You got it.
You Imogen Adams?
Um yes.
- Are you Joseph?
- Crazy Joe.
- Oh.
- Come on inside. It's warmer.
Uh, I can close that if you're cold.
Crazy Joe, was it?
No thank you. We're good.
So, Joseph Joe
how did you come to live way out here?
The town pays me to keep
an eye on the derelict cars.
To make sure no one burns them.
Yeah, that makes sense.
Joe
you said you knew Angela Waters.
More than knew her. I
was in love with her.
We didn't date or anything.
But we were fellow misfits
friends.
Till that gaggle of
she-bitches turned her head
and took her away from me.
-
- They adopted her.
Turned her into a high-town
bitch, if you ask me.
I tried to warn her about those
girls, but she ignored me.
And look what happened to her.
Tragedy.
Do you know why Angela killed herself?
Angela couldn't
keep up with those girls,
and so, eventually she
came crashing down
on Y2K night.
What about her family?
Do you know anything about them?
Her mother Rose.
That was her only family. After
Angela was found, Rose snapped.
Showed up to the school one
day with a butcher knife.
Oh my god.
- What was she there for?
- Revenge.
Did she stab someone?
She tried to. Multiple students.
- The girls who adopted Angela?
- No A table of boys.
One of the teachers stopped her.
- Thank god.
- Geez.
They took her away to an asylum.
The Radley Sanitarium.
In Rosewood.
Yep.
- She still there?
- Could very well be.
Uh did you bring my money?
Yeah of course.
Here.
He was talking about our moms.
- The quote, unquote, she-bitches.
- Without a doubt.
My mom said they tried to help Angela.
Maybe that's what Crazy
Joe meant by adopting her.
Whatever it was, it clearly didn't work.
Tabby
your mom's still going to that
real estate conference, right?
- I believe so.
- Great.
Then we're going to Rosewood,
to the Radley Sanitarium,
to find Rose Waters, hopefully.
- Okay.
- Okay.
Where'd you disappear to, Greg?
After we hooked up
I got my ass chewed
out by that Tabby chick.
Heard she punched Tyler in the face.
Right in the nose.
And he must've been hella embarrassed
because I haven't seen
him at school since.
Oh good.
Tyler's an asshole.
It all started with his stupid video.
Or maybe before that.
Greg.
Come on.
What's the big deal?
It's not like we're cheating on her.
Karen's gone.
Don't you miss her?
I mean, we both do, right?
That's That's why we
kissed at the party, isn't it?
May-Maybe I don't.
Miss her, I mean.
Maybe I always wanted you
Kelly.
Stop. Stop, stop! Just stop!
Come on.
You Beasley girls like it rough.
That might've been my sister,
but it is not me, you horndog.
And if you want a
chance in hell with me
you better be at "Swan Lake"
front and center with flowers.
Now, goodbye, Greg.
I have to practice.
Hey, Coach Desjardin
came by practice today.
You wanna tell me why you turned
down a spot on the track team?
Noa?
So
my mom got fired
from the hospital
for stealing drugs.
- What?
- So, I need to be here for her.
At home to keep her busy,
make sure she stays clean.
Noa, all you've wanted was
to get back on that team.
- Haven't you given up enough for her?
- Don't, Shawn.
You don't get it. Your
parents are perfect.
You have no idea what it's
like to live with an addict.
It's a disease.
I can't turn my back on her.
I mean, I-I won't.
You know the rules, Steve.
One encounter. That's it.
I did it to give you one
more memory with Rachel,
- and you have to be okay with that.
- I understand.
- Thank you again.
- Bye, Steve.
I heard about your mom's
dismissal from Millwood General.
I'm still friends with
Cathy, the charge nurse there.
I know what she did was wrong,
but I still can't
believe they fired her.
She gave that hospital everything.
Trust me, I know.
It's grueling.
Nurse Simmons, my mom
loves being a nurse.
Is there anything you
can do to help her?
Hm, I worked with your mom.
I tell you what.
I'm gonna give Cathy a call.
We'll see if anything can be done.
Thank you.
So, this guy, he told us
that Angela Waters' mom
was committed to the Radley
Sanitarium in Rosewood.
Okay.
But are we sure we can trust
a man who lives in a train car?
- Stellar point.
- And just to ask a question,
is there any universe in which
- creepy train guy is A?
- Absolutely.
Except for the fact
that he didn't try to kill us,
but definitely a person of interest.
Anyway we looked up
the Radley Sanitarium.
A few years ago, it was shut down
and turned into a hotel.
- Mr. England
- AKA Crazy Joe.
confirmed what
we've all been suspecting.
That our moms are all connected
to whatever happened to Angela Waters,
which we think is why
A's targeting us.
Therefore, if we can
figure out what went down
between Angela and our moms
from someone other than
our not forthcoming moms
It might help us figure out who A is.
So, Tabby and I thought,
what if we skip the rest of the day
and road trip to Rosewood?
- "Thelma and Louise" style.
- To find someone who knew Rose Waters
and can tell us about her.
Or, maybe, we hit the jackpot
and actually find Rose Waters.
- I've got my boss's car.
- Oh.
They have a spa. And I have party cash.
Uh-uh. This recruiter
from ABT is here today.
Also, my mom.
And "Swan Lake" is tomorrow night
and you all better be there.
Yeah, I have to keep an eye on my mom.
And I kinda, sorta have
a bowling date with Ash.
- Ooh!
- Oh my god.
He's like a teen Cole Sprouse.
I am so shipping this.
"Mash" needs to be canon.
I'm excited.
Yeah, but also nervous.
Guess it's just you and me.
Do you wanna be Thelma or Louise?
Good either way.
But I am not driving
off a cliff for anyone.
Fair.
Mom?
There's a path through this.
Nurse Simmons called the hospital,
and they're willing to hire you back
if you go to rehab for 30 days.
Baby, look at me.
- I'm doing good.
- Mom, that's just not true.
My whole life, I've never known
you not to be on some kind of drug.
I thought
I thought when I took the fall for you
that I was helping you,
that that would be your rock bottom.
But it wasn't yours.
It was mine.
You're right.
- I am?
- Yes, Noacita, about everything.
This isn't how it's supposed to be.
You taking care of me.
I'm the one that's supposed to
be holding this family together.
But let's both do it Mom.
Partners.
Okay, I'll go.
I'll go to rehab.
Ms. Bryant.
You favor your left side.
Have you ever been injured?
- Um
- She has scoliosis.
And like a crazy scar on her back.
In that case
I'm even more impressed.
Woo!
Oh, okay, uh, where am I turning?
The Radley's off King Street, it says.
Oh my god.
- They have cucumber water.
- That's how you know it's fancy.
Hi.
Can we get some
information about The Radley
from before it was a hotel?
From when it was a sanitarium.
We're students at Rosewood High
doing a history project on the town.
And, um, we were assigned the Radley.
There wasn't much information online.
A person I could direct
you to is Eddie Lamb,
our maintenance manager.
He's worked in this building for years.
Could we talk to him?
Eddie won't be in
until tomorrow morning.
Hm.
Would you mind giving
us his phone number?
We don't give out our employee's
personal contact information.
Fine. We'll just wait.
The lobby's for guests only.
Luckily, Jeff
I just held a rather
lucrative fundraiser.
Cash okay?
- Ho-ly
- Balls!
This bed feels like a marshmallow!
Oh my god!
Chocolate-covered strawberries.
Ahh!
- Ooh!
- Mm.
- Oh, hell yes!
- What?
Robes!
Mm, I could get used to this.
Mm-hm Cheers.
Cheers.
Hi.
- Uh, Shawn, Noa isn't home.
- I know that.
She's at school
and I should be at football practice.
- Well, can I help you with something?
- Yeah.
Do you have any idea
how badly you're hurting
your daughter's life right now?
Look, I know what you made her do.
And letting her take the
fall for your drug habit.
- She told you that?
- I wasn't gonna say anything,
but she's giving up a spot
on the track team for you.
I didn't ask her to do that.
Look if you care about Noa at all
then stop draggin' her
down before it's too late.
Sorry I couldn't be there, baby.
It's okay. You were working.
Glad your mom was there
to represent, though.
I was, and let me tell
you, I was so proud.
I knew it.
From when you took your
first baby steps, I knew it.
My little girl's gonna be a star.
And today, you showed me,
you showed everyone,
including that Beasley trash
who found it necessary to
bring up your scoliosis.
That's just Kelly being Kelly.
Or Karen. Take your pick.
It did make me think, though.
Now that you're older,
maybe it's time we
take care of that scar.
I found a plastic surgeon here in town.
- He's happy to give you a consultation.
- Not surgery again, Corey.
It's just a consultation, Zeke.
But if no one's
interested, I'll drop it.
Maybe
Maybe I should look into it, Daddy.
It can't hurt to see what
the doctor has to say.
If he can get rid of it, it would
be one less thing to worry about.
One less asterisk by my name.
Asterisk Faran Bryant, amazing dancer,
considering her scoliosis.
So long as it's what you want.
Worth checking out.
That's why I went ahead
and made you an appointment
for tomorrow morning.
See? Mother knows best.
So
what do you wanna do?
Hm. Oh my god, Tabby, this is so lame
but can we stay in?
I haven't been this
comfortable in, like
seven months.
I hear ya. All good.
But
if you wanna go out for a
night on the town, you should.
I don't know about having
a night on the town,
but I was gonna go out and explore,
see if I could find a
movie theater or bookstore
- Ooh.
- Or something equally geeky.
- Do it!
- Hm?
Go! Yes!
Okay.
Ah!
Hey, did you see that one?
- I almost got a spare that time.
- Um
I'm suddenly starving.
Will you get us some nachos?
Sure. Nachos with plastic
cheese comin' right up.
Isn't this a nice coincidence?
What the hell are you doing here?
Enjoying a little cosmic bowling.
- Did you follow me here?
- What?! No.
- I come here all the time, Rachel.
- Stop it, Steve.
I'm not Rachel.
I'm not your real
daughter. I'll never be her.
Look, I'm sorry that
she was taken from you.
I wanted to help you, to comfort you,
but now that's over
and you need to stay away from me, okay?
Oh, look, here comes your friend.
- Hey.
- Ash.
Mouse, what's up? Who's this?
- He's, um
- Hi there. I'm Mouse's dad.
Yeah, he's my dad.
This is obviously a very
long, involved story.
I'm Ash. Mouse and I go
to Millwood High together.
Oh Pleasure to meet you, Ash.
Actually, Ash, I'm not
feeling too great.
Uh, more nauseous than starving now.
- Can we please get out of here?
- Yeah. Sure, of course.
You lied to me.
You've been lying to me
for who knows how long.
Lying to you about what?
Shawn dropped by for a visit, okay?
And not only did he say
that you told him everything,
all our business, our secret,
he then gave me an earful
on how much of a burden I am to you.
- If he did, it's because he's worried.
- Uh-huh. Shawn was right.
You've done more than enough for me.
Get on that track team, Noa.
I can take care of myself.
I don't need 30 days in rehab.
I am fine right where I am.
Matter of fact I got a job.
- What?
- At Pinball Pizza.
That way I won't be bothering you.
You don't have to concern
yourself with me, ever again.
Any good?
"Men, Women, and Chainsaws" is my Bible.
Where are you from?
'Cause you don't go to Rosewood.
I would've noticed.
Millwood. I'm just here for the night.
You wanna grab a cup of coffee
and then I can give you the tour?
Coffee sounds great.
Slow down.
- What's the problem?
- Stop, I said.
What do you say? My treat.
I think I'm just gonna
- read my book. But thanks.
- It's all good.
Have a nice night.
Hey.
You wouldn't happen to
know Eddie Lamb, would you?
Henry?
What are you
Help!
Ah!
Help!
No, no, no, no, no!
No! Somebody help me!
Somebody help me!
Ah!
Help!
Please, please, please!
I'm Kelly, okay?!
I'm Kelly!
I'm Kelly! I'm Kelly! I'm Kelly!
I'm Kelly! I'm Kelly!
I'm Kelly. I'm Kelly. I'm Kelly.
I'm Kelly. I'm Kelly.
Oh, hey!
How was your night out?
Uneventful.
How was your night in?
Unexpectedly productive.
Oh?
I spoke with Eddie Lamb
who it turns out, was
an orderly at the Radley
back when it was an insane asylum.
What? Okay, teen sleuth.
I asked him about Mrs. Waters,
and he's meeting us
for breakfast tomorrow,
and he's bringing an old visitors log.
- Pretty good, right?
- Very good.
Hey. How'd it go?
What did Dr. Creed say?
Lots of things.
But I'm not having the surgery.
Surgeries, by the way.
Plural. And very invasive.
What did he say exactly?
Oh, I was just listening
to him go on and on
about how grueling this process will be,
and how the pain will be acute,
but mostly tolerable.
And all I could think was
is this what I even want?
Will this
finally
make me happy?
Of course, it will.
You'll be that much more beautiful.
- Stronger than ever.
- Mom
when you say things like that,
it makes me feel like
you're saying I'm not beautiful,
that I am weak.
You're gorgeous and strong.
- But that scar
- So what if I have a scar?
If I can live with it, why can't you?
What is it with you and appearances?
You think you're building me up,
but really, you're doing the opposite.
Everything I've done has been for you
to forge you.
Because believe you me,
they will tear you up.
The only person who's torn me up is you.
Was my surgery even necessary?
Of course, it was.
The doctor said it was
something you had to have,
- that it couldn't wait.
- Well, that was then,
and this is now.
And it's my body, Mom, mine.
And you need to be
okay with that or not.
I don't care anymore.
Mr. Lamb, why did you keep working here
after the Radley turned into a hotel?
They offered me a job to
help with the transition.
I had a mortgage, needed the money.
All visitors had to sign
in, and that was the book.
According to this,
Rose Waters was visited by A. Waters?
- Mm-hm.
- But they're different signatures.
You caught that, huh?
Shades of "Vertigo."
So multiple people
came to visit Mrs. Waters
and signed in as Angela?
There were five of them.
Five young ladies who traded off.
Would you remember
what they looked like?
Mm-hm.
That's them.
Figured it was some
kind of community service
they were doin' for high school.
Visit the crazy lady, ya know?
What was she, um, being treated for?
Trauma-induced psychosis,
then schizophrenia.
Did she ever get out?
No.
She was here until the
asylum was shut down.
Then what happened?
Some of the patients were sent to
the Sisters of Quiet
Mercy over in Riverdale.
Others, like Rose, were
released, bussed out of town.
We heard a story that Rose Waters
attacked a bunch of students
at Millwood High School.
She'd had a
psychotic break
after her daughter was raped
and then killed herself.
Angela Waters
was
raped?
Right before she jumped to her death.
A-According to Rose.
Thank you for coming to see me, Faran.
Are you all right?
Yes.
Just got some disturbing news.
- But I'm fine.
- Glad to hear it.
Kelly Beasley has dropped
out of "Swan Lake" for
personal reasons.
So I'd like you to dance Odile.
If you still know the part,
I can arrange to have the costume
altered to cover your back.
I do know the part, Madame Giry.
And I'll dance it.
But
you don't need to alter my costume.
I'm good.
Noa, I'm, I'm so sorry.
I feel terrible.
I shouldn't have said anything.
It doesn't matter, Shawn.
She doesn't wanna get better.
If she did she would.
And I can't keep fucking enabling her.
Well, it's official.
There have been more recastings
in this one production
of "Swan Lake" than all of
- "Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark."
- [LAUGHS]
Congratulations.
- You nervous?
- Not even a bit.
But, I need you to do me a favor.
I'm updating my bio for the board
and I want a new picture to go with it.
Will you take it for me?
Absolutely.
Something doesn't add up.
What doesn't?
While you were taking your bath,
I was looking at pictures we took
of Eddie's logbook, and he
said there were five signatures,
but by my count
- there are six.
- W-What do you mean?
I mean, there are six
different A. Waters signatures.
Five belonging to our
moms, according to Eddie.
Oh my god.
But then, who's the sixth person?
So, we have a mystery
person out there who
visited Angela's mom at the Radley
- as A. Waters?
- Yes.
And
Angela, before she died was
Yeah.
Poor Angela Waters.
Tabby
what you told me about,
back at your house
my story's like that, too.
It happened that same night as
that fucked-up party at
Karen's house back in March.
After I took Tyler's phone
and handed Karen over to Kelly
I grabbed a bottle of vodka
and went to the beach to drink it alone.
And that's basically all I remember
until, um
I woke up in pain.
My underwear was gone
and there was some blood on my dress.
That
That was the night I got pregnant.
Any idea who he was?
Mm.
Come here. Come here.
Shh.
- Imogen?
- Yeah?
Do you think it could've
been the same guy?
Maybe.
I can't believe I'm
gonna say this, but
I'm ready to get home.
I feel like we're getting closer
to something, Tabby.
Me too.
And, you know, uh, if
we go straight to school,
we could make Faran's performance.
Let's do it.
- Ugh. Sorry I'm late.
- All good?
Wow
She really went there.
I think it's beautiful.
Same.
Her bio's super intense, though.
Good for Faran. I'm proud of her.
Totally.
Maybe afterwards we can
take her out for pizza,
and you can tell us about
how it went in Rosewood.
Yeah.
Oh, shit. We should
- Oh, yeah, uh, let's get inside.
- Ugh.
Against the wishes of my doctors,
my father, and myself,
my mother chose a surgery
for me I didn't need
in an unrelenting quest for perfection.
Tonight, I dance for all girls
who have been scarred inside and out.
Uh, hey, Coach?
Noa.
If it's not too late,
I would love to join the track team.
Like as soon as possible.
How's tomorrow morning? 5:30?
I'll be there. Thank you.
Yeah, it was impressive.
- What'd I miss?
- Nothing.
Good luck out there.
- You're not supposed to say that.
- Oh, well, how 'bout this?
You look beautiful.
Leave it all on the floor, Bryant.
Leave it all on the floor, Henry.
- You guys made it back.
- Yes!
And thank god because
you were incredible.
No joke. You put the entire cast
of "Center Stage" in the shade.
Oh-ho.
Do you guys wanna get pizza?
Um, Faran?
- Daddy, what's up?
- Grab your things. We gotta go.
- Why? What's wrong?
- Your mom was in an accident.
She's at the hospital right now.
