Where are the knives?

1
[mysterious, electronic music playing]
[Lyna] When you're in the back
of a prison van and bullets start flying,
there are two possible scenarios.
Either someone wants
to set you free, or to silence you.
[gunfire]
[gun blast]
- In our case
- [gunfire]
they want to silence us.
[gun blast]
[agonizing groan]
[mysterious electronic music continues]
Even though The Fury ensures justice
in the underworld,
what she does isn't good.
She stands right at the border,
maintaining the balance
between good and evil.
A border littered with corpses.
One might say it's only fair that The Fury
get a taste of her own system one day.
And that day has come.
- The day when the Furies must die.
- [gasps]
[dramatic music playing]
But they wouldn't go down without a fight.
What we needed was shelter.
Somewhere safe, discreet and sturdy.
But sometimes you don't get to choose.
[music fades]
[humming]
So, boys, feeling guilty?
You're gonna help me clean this
- Hey. You got a car?
- [man] Don't kill me.
- Hey! I'm talking to you!
- [tense music playing]
- Don't kill me.
- Do you have a vehicle?
Yeah.
I sold my car for the the wedding.
- It was important to her Huh?
- Open the door.
- Now!
- I'm not done
The keys, damn it!
Come on, hurry up.
[tense music becomes mysterious]
- Turn around. Turn around!
- What?
[music becomes tense]
[Keïta sighs]
Here.
Go to a police station,
give them this note, here.
- The closest one's 30 miles from
- Go. Go, go, go!
Get in.
[Lyna grunts]
[music becomes ominous]
[tense music playing]
If any one of you tries anything
[music intensifies]
- Give me a reason. Do it.
- [music fades]
- Captain Keïta, crime squad. Do you copy?
- [static over police radio]
Hello?
This is Captain Keïta,
from the crime squad. Do you copy?
[woman] Captain? I read you, over.
[tense music playing]
We were attacked. My escort was killed.
They're out there, looking for us.
[woman] Okay, stay calm.
Where are you now? Where are you?
- We're on a side road by
- No!
- Let go!
- But
[sighs]
[woman] Captain, answer me.
Answer me.
[in sarcastic voice]
Captain Keïta? From the crime squad?
You don't wanna tell me where you are?
That would save us all some time, huh?
Hey, you don't have any cellphones,
your radio's no good.
We're gonna find you soon enough.
- They're Parques's guys.
- You're dead, bitch.
[tense dramatic music playing]
[woman] See you soon, Captain.
[man groans weakly]
Right, an average walking pace
is four miles per hour, okay?
So they can't be far.
So I expect you to do a full search
of all the gas stations in the area.
- You should keep the
- [man groans]
For fuck's sake
Well, get your asses out there!
Go find them, those damn sons of
[music fades]
The two of you against a dozen.
[sighs]
They're assassins, you need us.
You take me for a fool?
Your dad's gonna shoot me
the first chance he gets.
I'm sure she would too.
And you, I don't know anymore.
[ominous, tense music playing]
[Keïta] The line is cut,
they shut down our comms,
they've got assault weapons.
Who are these guys? Damn it!
Lyna says they're pros, they won't stop.
"Lyna says" Come on, Elie, shut it!
She's getting in your head, can't you see?
[inhaling]
It won't be long until they find us.
What do you have?
Oh, fuck.
Our colleagues will realize
something happened soon enough.
Let's make a barricade in the meantime.
Too many windows.
[music becomes intense and dramatic]
[music stops]
Parques's guys are coming
to get me out of here, you know?
[tense music playing]
I've got plenty of time.
Do you?
Poor Selma.
You dedicated your life
to protect The Olympus,
then I destroy them in a few weeks.
Proud of yourself?
- Did I teach you nothing?
- You did.
When would we ever call the police?
Never. We don't call the police.
But I
[Selma] We don't call the police, damn it.
Never. We don't call the police.
I had no other choice.
You two would've murdered each other,
what else could I do?
[Selma] Never.
[hand rattling]
- Damn it.
- [Lyna] Selma?
The Olympus is always watching the police.
We don't call the police.
Never. We never call the cops.
- [gasps]
- You okay?
Selma?
- Selma? Elie!
- [ominous music playing]
Elie!
[tense, dramatic music playing]
Elie!
- Elie!
- [gasping]
If I don't help you
get outta here, she'll die.
- The pills!
- Give me your hand.
Give me your hand! Now!
Pull! Pull.
[gasping]
[groaning]
- Come on.
- [Lyna groans]
Harder.
[groans]
Lyna, I'm not your enemy.
[music becomes ominous]
[objects clattering faintly]
[music fades]
I don't get it, you could've left.
[panting]
Instead you're saving them.
Why are you doing it?
You didn't leave. Right?
And not just because
Lyna's here, am I wrong?
You think I'm a piece of shit. [sighs]
Yeah.
Oh, that wasn't a question.
I know.
But we're cops, you and I.
Law and order, it means something.
I think you just wanna prove
your point about The Fury.
Yeah, well, that too, yeah.
For 15 years they've made fun of me
and The Fury exists.
I'll show them The Fury.
Dead or alive.
They're here.
[dramatic, action music playing]
I'm here, I'm here.
Selma?
Selma, please!
[tense music playing]
[groans]
[rapid gunfire]
[gunfire continues]
[groans]
[restrained tense music playing]
[sighs]
[grunts]
Give it.
- Give it!
- [handcuffs clatter]
[groans]
[Elie] Keïta, I'm running low,
give me your gun.
[glass cracks]
[Lyna grunts]
[dramatic action music playing]
[grunting]
[gasps]
[Elie] Stop!
- [gun cocks]
- [music halts]
[dramatic sting]
Drop your weapon.
[dramatic sting]
Give me your weapon.
[dramatic sting]
40 SECONDS EARLIER
[mysterious music playing]
[Driss] Selma. Wake up.
Wake up.
Selma!
Lyna?
She needs help. My help.
- What did you tell her about her mother?
- [distant rapid gunfire]
Nothing?
Should I tell her?
She won't believe you.
The Olympus won't forgive your betrayal.
You've lost everything.
Your health, your honor.
Do you wanna lose Lyna?
Free me.
Give me your weapon!
Parques's phone, come on.
[tense music playing]
[man over radio] We're good,
got the situation under control.
Driss is with me.
He's getting the key back.
- He has The Fury.
- Okay, guys, did you hear that?
We kill The Fury, burn down The Olympus,
then I'll buy us some booze.
[rapid gunfire]
[music fades]
[gun blast]
[unnerving musical distortion]
[fades]
[birds cawing]
[ominous music playing]
[gasps faintly]
[weakly] No. Don't, please. [sobs]
I'll do anything, please.
I'm not the traitor, it's Parques.
We just wanted
[echoing gunfire]
[music stops]
Get back. Now!
You're coming with me.
I promised Selma I'd keep you alive.
Finish the job.
- [screaming] No! No! No!
- [ominous music playing]
- [laser humming]
- [music fades]
- [distant gun blast]
- [blood splattering]
[gunfire]
[Lyna gasps]
[gunfire]
[gunfire continues]
[tense, dramatic music playing]
[gunfire continues]
[music becomes ominous]
[breathing slowly]
[man 1] I've got eyes on them.
He took me to them. I'm going in.
[man 2] Negative.
The Fury's in there. Stay put.
We'll be there by nightfall.
Those fucking assholes, it's Damocles.
Who the hell is that?
- International mercenaries, that's who.
- [Driss] They're not just mercenaries.
They kill presidents, judges,
Furies No one is safe.
They just show up and kill,
no matter who it is.
The Olympus had always
refused to call on them.
The cost is too high.
- Not money, right?
- [Selma] No, they refuse to be paid.
Much bigger kind of debt.
One day, they show up
and ask for compensation.
And that can mean anything.
[Selma] Yeah, they can ask for anything.
One year's profit, a powerful contact,
the life of one of your kids.
[gasps] Oh.
The Olympus called on Damocles.
I'm almost flattered.
[ominous music playing]
We're not gonna let them kill us
without a fight. Are we, sis?
[music fades]
Without me, you're done.
- Without you
- [groans faintly]
[tense music playing]
Here.
A sign of my good faith.
No?
So, we're all gonna die here?
Might as well all come clean.
Wanna start, Selma?
- [Keïta groans faintly]
- That's our best shot, unfortunately.
- Are you kidding?
- [Selma] No.
I'm deciding.
Deciding, huh?
[Driss] The key to the mine.
As a sign of good faith.
[music fades]
[The Fixer] They should be here already.
With a van that big,
can you think of another road
they'd take to the police station?
No damn radio contact too.
I think the kid's
double-crossing us again, you know?
- [sighs]
- What?
You know what? You haven't
made that one sing for a while.
What's its name again?
Caruso? Callas?
Montserrat? Alagna?
None of my weapons
are named after opera singers.
[inhales] Fine, whatever.
Just tell me what your problem is.
- You've been grumpy for a while now.
- Parques?
[tense, dramatic music plays and stops]
You'd have him kill Lyna
without telling me about it?
- What am I to you?
- Are you shocked?
Don't you think I've done worse?
When it comes to loyalty? No.
No. I'll repeat my question,
what am I to you?
Lyna was dangerous from the get-go,
for us and Selma. She got her arrested.
Simon, come on, are you fucking stupid?
If she didn't call the cops,
Selma would be dead, okay?
Driss is the boss's weak point.
Everyone has a weak point.
You, Lyna, Selma, everyone.
How do you think our meeting back there
would've ended if the cops weren't there?
[inhaling]
Well, let's hit the road.
We should see if we can find anything.
Okay.
Do you mind if I join you?
If you'll have me?
Fine.
- You know what you are to me?
- I'm a burden.
[moody electronic music playing]
[sighs] You're my weak point.
[Keïta groans]
[groaning]
[groaning]
The pain means you're still alive.
And you'll survive.
[music become tense and ominous]
[laser humming]
What are they waiting for?
Backup,
nightfall,
for us to get tired,
or make a mistake, I don't know.
But they'll come in.
[laser humming]
[exhales deeply]
Well, look around.
We've got enough stuff to handle them.
If we can stick together
and lure them in here, we have a chance.
We just have to buy time.
Mud Man and The Fixer
are good, they'll find us.
[Elie] Yeah, well, but are they quick?
[tense, ominous music continues]
[Elie] There. That's all we've got.
- Even if every shot's on target
- All my shots are.
it wouldn't be enough.
[music intensifies]
[music stops]
- I said stay down.
- [panting]
[objects rattling]
[wind blowing]
[Lyna] What stuff are we looking for?
Sharp, cutting, piercing
The basics, you know.
Why'd you free Driss?
- What did you tell her about her mother?
- [tense sting]
He tried to kill us.
You set him free? Why?
Well, I had no choice. He was armed.
[object clattering]
What's really going on?
Selma, look at me.
Nothing. He just wants
to keep the key to the mine.
- He'll do anything for it.
- I know that.
He's trying to get into your head.
Don't let him.
He's trying to turn you against me.
- Apparently he's got some leverage.
- Oh, I found our bomb.
[Driss] Lyna.
Come here.
Go ahead.
[dramatic music playing]
I said, go ahead.
Hurry.
[music becomes ominous]
[laser humming]
- [heavy breathing]
- [music stops]
[clicking]
[moody, ethereal music playing]
- [crackling]
- [indistinct chatter]
[chatter continues]
What do I do now?
You forget her.
For her own good and for yours.
- She's not giving me any choice, really.
- She's not?
Did she ask anything from you?
To look after her, to protect her?
No, she never did.
She left you and you're insisting.
What exactly do you expect?
You've got a problem.
Anyway, thanks for the life lesson.
Means a lot coming from you. Thanks.
I meant how can I be useful?
That's my question. I don't know how
to make traps to kill people.
- Well, go search the kitchen.
- Why?
Because I'm asking you to.
- [crickets chirping]
- [music fades]
[suspenseful music playing]
- [door creaking]
- [music becomes tense]
[dramatic sting]
Whatever you do, don't move.
[Driss] Who is he?
- An asshole.
- He's trouble.
It's complicated.
[Driss] Oh, okay.
The new guy, won't you introduce us?
- You're gonna play Dad now?
- [Selma] What do you have on you?
That's all?
My apologies, man, I'm sorry, all right?
But I had to come
save your asses, you know?
- I didn't have time to pack my things.
- Hey.
I'm sorry.
She's not gonna pick tonight.
- [Lyna sighs]
- Do you have a plan?
Yeah, yeah, I had a plan, yeah.
Guns, and a car
to get you all out of here.
All I have is the gun.
I hadn't planned
for them to send Damocles.
One is hard enough, and all five are here.
- Tactical clothing, night vision.
- [tense music playing]
It's about to get rough.
[ominous, dramatic music playing]
[music stops]
What are you doing?
[sighing] Do you remember Anita?
The family cleaning lady?
Rambo?
It was a hit.
After that movie, I wanted to live
in the forest making traps all day.
Mmm.
A broomstick,
a huge spring from the sofa bed
and a broken leg for Anita.
Well, I won't just break legs this time.
Here. Help me.
Nobody laughed back then.
Mom didn't have a sense of humor.
Same as you.
- You've never been funny.
- I wasn't supposed to be.
It wasn't my role.
Unlike you, you were free.
I was free?
I thought I was a second-class child, but
apparently, I was free.
You won't be able to get into Lyna's head.
She is smart.
[Driss] I know.
She's even smart enough
to know you're hiding something.
What did you tell her?
Nothing. We should be focused here.
No need to get her confused.
[gun cocks]
What are you doing?
You're wasting ammo.
That's what they want.
[ominous music playing]
[clicking]
[music becomes mysterious]
[music fades]
Hey.
What do you want?
You know, after it all goes down,
we could go away together.
I want you to come with me.
You're giving me a choice now?
You tend to make the wrong ones.
- [grunting and groaning]
- [dramatic action music playing]
There's a little gizmo,
that monitors me, and if I die the police
will get some tips on The Olympus.
[music stops]
Shut up.
I'm doing this for you, Lyna.
You think I'm stupid, huh?
The Olympus ruined me.
[emotional music playing]
Kept me from being a dad.
But you can give me another chance.
If I give you the key to the mine.
You think you know me?
I'm starting to think I do, yeah.
What will you do once I give you the key?
Put a bullet in my head?
Or a fork in my carotid?
And Selma, do you know her?
Want me to tell you what she's hiding?
Go on, speak.
[panting rapidly]
Your mother didn't die in an accident.
Selma killed her.
Open the door!
Please! Please, let me in! Open the door!
- Open the door! Please, let me in!
- [tense music playing]
Let me in, damn it!
Open the door! Open it!
- No!
- Hey!
[panting]
I'm sorry.
[sobbing] I'm really sorry.
They said that if I didn't do it,
they'd find my wife. I'm
[music becomes tense]
Fuck.
- I'm sorry.
- [music intensifies]
- [beeping]
- [Driss] Get down!
- [man] Sorry, sorry, sorry!
- [rapid beeping]
[deep exhale]
[tense music playing]
- [high-pitched ringing]
- [music becomes ominous]
[muted coughing]
[muted alarm ringing]
- [alarm blaring]
- [gasps and coughs]
[dramatic music playing]
[coughing]
- [scraping]
- [groaning]
[laser humming]
[music becomes tense]
[music intensifies]
- [gun blast]
- [music stops]
[tense, dramatic sting]
- [gasps]
- [alarm continues blaring]
You're gonna be okay.
It's gonna be okay.
You jumped on him.
[Elie shudders]
[tense music builds]
[music halts]
[gunfire continues]
[muffled gunfire]
[groans]
[electronic bleep]
[tense music builds]
[groans]
- [whistling]
- [loud thud]
[wet slice]
[wet slicing]
[music fades]
[low, tense sting]
[ominous music playing]
[rapid gunfire]
[music fades]
[glass shattering]
[ominous music playing]
[rapid gunfire]
[music fades]
[rapid gunfire]
[tense music playing]
[music intensifies]
[music becomes tense]
[laser humming]
[Selma] Where are you hiding?
- [tense music continues]
- [sighs quietly]
[breathing heavily]
[music intensifies]
I see you.
[music becomes dramatic]
[jarring, pulsing noise]
- [music stops]
- [knife slices]
[ominous music playing]
[knife clatters]
[grunts]
[clicking noise]
[tense, ominous music playing]
[Driss grunts]
[music fades]
[ominous, mysterious music playing]
This isn't how I imagined it happening.
[gun blast]
[music fades]
[person grunts]
You took your sweet time.
[mysterious musical flourish]
[moody, electronic music playing]
[gun clicks]
- Eminem.
- Oh, there you go. Yes, sir.
- Ah, of course, puts everyone to bed.
- That's right.
Okay, well, finish him off.
- [echoing gun blast]
- [wet thud]
[moody, electronic music continues]
[panting]
[gun clicks]
Driss?
Dad?
You think you know me?
[tense music playing]
Your father took it. He's gone.
[shudders]
I went ahead and told him
where you hid the phone.
Don't be so noisy next time.
Why?
We made an exchange.
You have no idea what you've done.
He's dangerous.
[Keïta] More than you and The Fury?
[shudders] I wanted you alive,
but given the situation
Plus, you shouldn't
have come into my home.
[tense music continues]
[shuddering]
I'll say you resisted arrest.
[music intensifies]
[gun blast]
[music fades]
[melancholy music playing]
[shuddering]
Elie.
Elie, look at me.
[Lyna grunts faintly]
[grunts] You killed my mother?
[music becomes tense]
[The Fixer] Put the gun down.
You killed my mother?
[dramatic sting]
- [Selma] No, but I should have.
- [ominous music playing]
[wind blowing]
Twenty years ago, when Kahina showed
up at the underworld, nobody knew her.
We didn't know anything about her
past or her family, and for a reason.
Her whole life was a lie.
A cover story for an undercover cop.
The N'Soumer family.
Four generations of cops, can you imagine?
When I discovered her secret,
I was ready to eliminate her,
but your mother was smart.
She didn't wait for me.
She left without a trace.
Without even a word to the man she loved.
During her mission,
she fell in love with the wrong man.
A dangerous man.
My brother.
Driss.
[ominous music continues]
When he found out
about her betrayal, it drove him mad.
He wanted revenge.
[ominous music become tense]
He tracked down Kahina's family,
but nobody could tell him where she was.
That blood-soaked lunch party
made the headlines.
A whole family slaughtered.
Innocent people.
It wasn't enough to soothe his rage.
Driss never gave up
on finding your mother.
And now that he has the key
to the mine, he'll be able to.
And if he does find her, he will kill her.
[dramatic, melodic music playing]
[music fades]
