The whole program changed so much
when it went public
and when it turned into, like, this show,
turning us against each other.
And that was something
I really didn't like personally.
It felt really wrong,
and I was really upset.

feeling more like a competition,
but it just didn't align with my values,
and that was a hard moment for me.

From the start,
we didn't know this was a survival show.
It was supposed to be training,
pick the girls,
and prepare for debut and debut.
What embodies K-pop and a group
is their bond
and their trust in each other,
and what survival shows do
is put contestants against each other.
I don't believe in putting people
against each other to form a group.
I feel like yesterday
was really screwed up.
Like, I personally was told
in that interview
that this was not gonna be seen
and I felt so, like, betrayed.
We were told that what's gonna
influence this group is hard work.
And I think that's so screwed
to tell somebody,
because
uh, I mean, just out of us four,
we are so hardworking.
And, like, me personally,
I haven't missed a single day, like, ever.
When they called my name,
only three people wanted me
in their group, or four people.
And I'm friends with so much more
than three or four girls, you know?
But I knew that for them,
it's equally as hard
that they couldn't pick us
because they're put in a stupid situation
where you have to pick only five people.
I'm totally okay with that.
I get it.
But for me, it said Brooklyn, zero.
Not a single person voted me
to be in their group.
And I was like, if nobody
wants me here, why am I here?
That was actually
eye-opening for me, you know,
because I thought we were really close
with, like, at least
a little bit of the girls,
and I was like,
"Okay, maybe I thought wrong," you know?
You guys, I don't really know
what I'm gonna do.
Like, I have no idea. I have no money
right now in my bank account.
Like, I have no idea.
I'm looking for a job. I really need
to get my refugee life together.
You know? So, like, it's time to evolve

The fact that we really got to have these

But we knew that we needed
a more compelling storyline,
so we pivot our creative
when we were in Korea,
and we asked the girls
who you would have in your group

We asked each contestant
to come up with their ideal debut group.

We just wanted
to up the ante a bit.
It's a survival show,
and you have to create that drama.
But we truly tried to do it
in a way that wasn't disrespectful.
But when it was all said and done,
I understood
why many of the girls were hurt,
because they did feel that they were
betraying their sisters, if you will.
We're not forming a friend group,
we're forming a girl group.
You wanna choose your friends
and who you're close to,
but you also have to be, like, smart.
We then asked contestants
to predict
who could be eliminated this mission.
Oh, now this is dirty.
Why is Manon
getting the boot like this?
They're saying these things
about each other.
It's not personal, but it is personal.
Some people didn't like it,
but a lot of people loved it.
It was one of
our highest-rating view counts,
because people were really into it.
They trying to create some drama.
Yes, you're creating the group,
but equally as important,
is you're building that fan base.
I feel like the public have already chosen
who they truly want in this
and it makes me feel like
I have no chance.
When I saw the Mission Two
elimination video, I thought to myself,
"If this is what it means
to be a part of this group,
I don't want to be
a part of that, frankly."

At a point, I stopped
enjoying dancing, singing, everything,
'cause I was so disappointed
by the fact that I wasn't pleasing
people in the program,
even though I tried so hard.
Anyway, I was like, why would I let
somebody take my joy away from this?
That's how I felt with my dancing.
I felt like I had to release
so much of that
What I had, like, embodied
from the program.
I thought I couldn't dance anymore.
I was really, like, fully lost, you know?
So it's something I had to figure out
while I was, like, literally
just, like, catapulted back home.

- Working a regular nine-to-five.
It's all things
I had to realize and process
while I was doing that
and trying to get my life back.

It is a rigorous schedule and timeline
to get ready for Mission Three.
And then we will be down
to our top ten after eliminations,
and it's time to prepare
for the live show,
where we will pick the group.

about wanting to talk to the other girls
and let them know that she wants this.
She gets it that her skill set is low,

that she hasn't shown up as much,
but she wants to change.
And so I was totally in support

and I think I'm a little frustrated.
'Cause I know I've been missing,
but I know a lot of other girls
also have been missing,
and I feel like it's only being
taken out on me in a way.
And I wanted to maybe hear you guys out
why that might be the case,
or if that's even the case,
or if I'm making that up or something.
I really do feel like a lot of
our frustration, it's just being present
in what this whole program requires,
which is a lot of discipline
and a lot of hard work,
and paying attention
and doing your part.
Like, taking notes in class
and paying attention to what is being

But I have been taking notes
when I was sitting out.
The thing is
Two days ago, you were sitting out,
and Sohey had to get your attention
'cause you weren't paying attention.

It's been over a week
since our conversation

It's really clear to us

especially the elimination

At the end of the day, I do think
this is the best decision for me.

Lexie's chances
ending up in this group were huge.
She fit everything for us.
Vocally, dance, charm, attitude.
And she was doing well with fan voting,
so it matched what we wanted
and what the fans wanted.
But at the end of the day,
you can't force someone
to do something at this level
if their heart and their mind
is not into it.
Um, so basically, I've made the decision
to not continue with this competition.
I'm really confident in my decision.
I've just come to the conclusion
that this life is not for me, um,
and I actually do feel happy
about that realization.

really reality-checked herself
when the girls questioned
her commitment level to this program.
She wanted to prove a point.
I kind of hit a moment where I was like
where I had to, like,
really think about this,
and, like, hold myself accountable

I kind of realized
I have to, like, work way harder.
I felt like she got
that chip on her shoulder
that, "I'm gonna prove
these people wrong."
Anyone could notice
that Manon has definitely star quality.
Obviously, she was not familiar
with the K-pop system,
or what would be the expectation
when you are an idol.
She kind of had hesitation
to put everything into this project.
But whenever we shoot the performances,
she did really great.
She always did
what she needed to do at the moment.
That was very impressive.

Mission Three
was just released yesterday.
Because I felt so sick,
I have no idea how well I did.
I don't remember how shooting went.
I just remember being sick.
And that's why when the mission came out,
this was the one I was so nervous about.
I'm really, really grateful that
my teammates really, like, showed up.
I feel like that's what got me
through Mission Three.
Because I could have easily
given up and crumbled
and been like, "I can't do the mission.
It's not gonna happen."
Many times
the labels have an inkling
of who they think are the ones
that are gonna be on top.
Then you do these survival shows,
and you start to see
what the fans really want.
And that can sway what the company thinks.
One of the main reasons
that "Buttons" went viral
is 'cause it's an iconic song.
It was also a specific
dance choreo move that went viral.
I've seen so many people
re-create it on TikTok
and it looked amazing.

where I was like, "Wow,

the final members of a group myself,

I'm very emotional, not in a good way,
but rather anxious and scared.
We're here for the final
Mission Three evaluation session.
Lara. I think Lara showed
the most growth in this mission.
Megan,
I think she's solid.
She knows how to work a camera.
She is a leader within the group.
Marquise, in every performance,
gets more confident
and feels more like an anchor within it.
And Yoonchae, she's a minor,
she's still in school,
so she did get less hours to rehearse.
That's something to think about.
I saw a new side of Manon.
I saw her try to do what she had to do,
what she had to show,
and what she had to protect.
I think she has the capability
to be a key member to add to the team.
It's just if she wants to keep pushing.
Daniela led the group well.
Leading a team on stage is important,
and Daniela did a great job doing that.
Sophia, on set,
she was really struggling.
It was important to her
that she didn't want anybody
to know she was sick,
and I'm really proud of her
pushing through for this performance.
Nothing seems to faze her that much.
Celeste,
she seems to kind of hit a wall,
and I'm not sure
if she's gonna be able to break past that.
There's something I'd like to ask Missy.
I heard that Nayoung has talked to you
about her dream of being a solo artist.
We're relying on
this group to be the future of this label,
and giving someone that opportunity
who doesn't really want it,
I don't think that's a good fit.
That comment's worrying.
No matter how talented you are,
I think that's something
that is alarming for us.

When Lexie left, I was worried,
but I trusted Ua
in her performance ability.
Samara did a great job as well,
and she showed a brighter side of herself.
Ezrela, she's becoming
the person that she wants to be,
so I'm really proud of her.
All three of us can remember
the first time that Emily sung.
She was just shaking-singing,
um, but to see a performance like this,
obviously, dancing goes without question,
of how good she is and talented,
and I think she's brought the confidence
she has from dance into vocal.
I'm proud of her for that.
She's grown so much.
Watching "Wannabe,"
I found them delightful and fun,
so much so that I imagined them
debuting as they are.
