Sacrifice
Previously: Nine contestants came to Panama to see if they havestants what it takes to be a hero.
- Now only seven remain.
- Heroes! And at the end of tonight's episode, voting will be open for you to decide who is deserving of the title "the Hero" Whoo! and win the grand-prize pot, that currently stands at $510,000.
That's a ton of money.
- Last week, the game changed again.
- Only four can go.
And Marty refused to step back.

Patty Then after they failed the team challenge I'm so glad I went through with you.
Charles risked elimination in the Hero's challenge and won $80,000.
That's going into the global pot.
Now he's got to send another person packing.

And then at the end of tonight, you, America, will get to vote on which contestant has become the Hero.

My attitude about Athena has changed.

I came into this competition With complete confidence that I would walk away the Hero, And I had to learn a lot about myself.
And I learned that there are people willing to shut you down No matter what you do.
I think I kept a level head throughout the game.

Once the entire team has rappelled down 200 feet, You'll find out what stage two has in store.
All I can tell you is that You have a total of 10 minutes to complete both stages And you're gonna need every last second.

Your teammates will attempt the wire walk.
That's it.
But I want to tell you, The chances of this team challenge Being a success for you guys greatly increases If the number of teammates go from three to one.

" You are an integral part of this six, So to us, we can't have you go.

My hero was my pops, Somebody that took care of my mom and me no matter what.
So I came in yeah, I mean, do I want to win? Yeah, I think everybody wants to win.
I think that kind of money would change all six of us.
As long as I get home And I'm a hero like my dad was to me.
If I'm half the man, father, and husband my dad was, I'm winning.

Lydia, what have you learned about yourself From this competition? Just like the journey in my real life.

I search my mind for what is the definition of a hero, And I see it in the doctor, I see it in Marty, I see it in Charlie, I see it in Patty, I see it in Darnell.

At times, your unfailing desire can rub people the wrong way.
It's come across the wrong way.
It's gotten a little emotional at times.

And, like, they taught me, you know, basically, Not everything is about you.
And, you know, I love the value of team.

Charles, from day one, You've been searching for yourself.
Have you finally found what you've been searching for? I'm staring at that $610,000.
To me, that means it's love for my family.
It means more time for my family.
It means being able to pursue some of the dreams I have.
It means being able to say thank you To the people in my life who sacrificed for me.
So the search was all about "can I let go of that?" And I think yesterday when I sat in front of all you And I was able to say, "I can let go of all that, Of all those things that $610,000 represents to me," Then I'm there.
That's powerful, man.

This is the hardest decision I've ever had to make.

I was really thinking about not wanting to vote for him 'cause there was someone else I was thinking about.

I want to do this for every mother who thought we were too old to keep dreaming.
I played this game as well as I could have.

I'm really happy With the fact that I was true to who I am.

Out of this entire experience I got most courage, and I can definitely say I never had courage recognized in me before.

Lydia! I'd like to be a hero to all of the orphans out there, All of the foster children out there.
My journey doesn't end until America says it ends.
My ultimate goal is to go back to Oakland And purchase mills college, And I'd like to turn it into an orphanage.
Don't sting me.
Please.
And if I did that, yeah, I feel like I'd be a hero.
- Hero! - Lived in orphanages, Foster homes until I was 18, So anything I do in life, I do for me and me alone.
And for a brief time I didn't feel alone.

Let's go! Last year was a really tough year for me.
My marriage fell apart, and I have an issue with trust.
The bottom line is from the minute I walked Into this house, I had everyone's trust.
It just gave me a whole new outlook on life, And it was kind of like my comeback, you know? I know that I'm gonna be a better person.
I kind of feel fearless.
Yeah.
I got it! I feel like there's nothing that life can't throw at me That's gonna stop me.
Yeah! Nice! I've done really good in all the team challenges, I never took a bribe, and I really gave it my all, So just let the dice roll.

I came into this game thinking I'm gonna win, you know? I'm gonna beat everything up that they give me.
Yes! And through this process, I learned that Sometimes my competitiveness can get the best of me.
And I learned that if you have good people around you That they can help you channel that into something good.
Yeah! The reason I'm here Is just to make my dad and my brother proud.

He's 56 years old and he's still doing construction, working harder than 25-year-olds that he works with.
