The Hero (2013) s01e07 Episode Script

Sacrifice

Previously: Nine contestants came to Panama to see if they havestants what it takes to be a hero.
- Now only seven remain.
- Heroes! And at the end of tonight's episode, voting will be open for you to decide who is deserving of the title "the Hero" Whoo! and win the grand-prize pot, that currently stands at $510,000.
That's a ton of money.
- Last week, the game changed again.
- Only four can go.
And Marty refused to step back.
I can't [bleep.]
sit around.
Patty Then after they failed the team challenge I'm so glad I went through with you.
Charles risked elimination in the Hero's challenge and won $80,000.
That's going into the global pot.
Now he's got to send another person packing.
You never know what he's thinking, - But I'm still in this.
- Who will it be? - For real, dawg? - Marty, it's your time, man.
And then at the end of tonight, you, America, will get to vote on which contestant has become the Hero.
1x07 - Sacrifice It's coming down to the end, and you guys starting to think about who might win this? - No.
- I don't believe that.
I think this is a competition.
I think we're all thinking about it.
No, just that I have no clue.
Coming home is kind of weird, you know? Hey! Yo! This is a harder decision than the money.
The people that have struggled in this journey with you What's up brother? To send them home without letting them finish, It's like you're kind of robbing them Of everything they came here for.
- I did it.
- Oh, nice! The reason why I'm not happy right now Is because I have to eliminate somebody.
Part of me thinks Charles is gonna pick Darnell, Because Darnell will walk out of here with some money.
This was harder than the money.
The money's easy.
Charles may send me home Because maybe he thinks I'm at the end of my journey.
I really respect Athena because she got it hard from us.
I actually might not be going home.
I mean, I know Marty's a pretty dude, But is America gonna vote for someone who cries under a table? But I respected what you said and what you did, And I really respect you as a person, And it sounds silly to say these nice things to you And have to send you home.
It's okay.
I really hope the best for you and your brother.
It's all good.
I chose to eliminate Athena, not because she's a bad person, But because the other five stayed true Throughout this whole competition.
My attitude about Athena has changed.
Ever since shaun's been gone, Her and I have become better friends, And I think she regrets what she did, But the bottom line is she took the bribe.
I came into this competition With complete confidence that I would walk away the Hero, And I had to learn a lot about myself.
And I learned that there are people willing to shut you down No matter what you do.
I think I kept a level head throughout the game.
Bye.
Bye, Athena.
I am walking away stronger, And I can't wait to get home and show everybody who I became.
This is getting real, man.
This is it, yo.
This is it, man.
Now it's six of us left, And that's who America's voting on.
Let's make this joint happen, y'all.
Are you ready? There's no more Hero's challenge.
This will be the last challenge, So we're expecting something big this morning.
You know, I want to get out there And prove myself to America.
I want to prove myself To all the people that don't know who I am.
Guys, we got a clue.
Oh, nice.
If you are successful in this final challenge, $100,000 will be added to the grand prize.
$100,000? Whoa! And you'll earn $50,000 for the American red cross.
Whoa, whoa, whoa.
Oh, yeah! Head to the roof of Trump tower.
I cannot wait to see what this challenge is gonna be.
The six we got, We all get to start it and finish it together.
What the frig? Five must go.
One must stay home.
Everyone is eligible.
Here we go again.
This game is tearing us up.
We have to go from six to five.
This sucks.
We got to have the best of the best On this last, epic challenge.
Like, this is it.
Definitely want to go.
I sat the last joint.
I sat two joints.
I ain't sitting again.
Guys, I can't let him see me wimp out.
I honestly think for this last one it isn't about turns.
I think it's about You can say it.
I'm not stupid.
And I know all five of you guys are looking at me.
I feel like the sixth wheel just strength wise.
Let's break off and talk about it.
We all want to prove our self.
We're trying to win America's vote.
Everything that everyone fought for was for this moment, And nobody wanted to miss it.
I love Charlie, But he just did a challenge and a Hero's challenge.
Everyone one of us that finished one sat out the next time.
We need time to think.
It's fine.
I honestly I really want Patty.
I'm not gonna lie.
I would have to say Charles.
I think $100,000, I think we need to put this in the pot.
Then that's the most selfless act that I can do Is to give up in front of the rock.
It's Charles.
Go ahead.
Charles.
They've decided you're in.
The truth is this was money for the red cross.
We do need the strongest people in physically.
I'm not weak.
I don't feel like I'm stepping back, But I know I'm doing the right thing For the red cross and for your mission.
You will rock it.
Maybe this is the swan song for me Because I don't have a shot in hell At showing America now what I'm made out of.
Time has come.
We are standing on The tallest building south of miami.
70 stories high, this is your final test.
And much like this entire competition, You cannot go it alone.
There are two stages to this final challenge.
In this first stage, all five of you will rappel down The arch spine of this building face-first, Aussie style.
You're gonna be tied together, And you're gonna have to work as a team.
Once the entire team has rappelled down 200 feet, You'll find out what stage two has in store.
All I can tell you is that You have a total of 10 minutes to complete both stages And you're gonna need every last second.
Word up! You started this competition as ordinary people, But you're gonna finish it as heroes.
Hell, yeah! Epic and unbelievable had a baby and out popped this historic challenge.
- Are you ready? - Hell, yeah! It's time to bring it.
- Get going.
- Yeah, baby! Ah, face-first! I'm in the house, devastated because I didn't stick up for myself strong enough and say, "I want to go.
" Oh, shit.
Hi.
Hey, you know if I'm calling you, Something big is about to happen.
I do.
Come over to Trump tower.
Can I really? Your game's not over yet.
I'm going now.
Thank you.
Just like anything that's scary, when you don't really see it, It's okay, but you got to look straight down.
This is it.
This is what I've been building to since I got here.
You're just leaning.
You know, you're 1,000 feet up, and it takes your breath away.
Let's do it! Go.
Just go hand over hand.
Don't step on the rope.
Just hand over hand.
And lean forward.
It's easier.
Lean forward.
It's easier.
I'm telling you.
You're right.
Hand over hand.
Everyone stay together.
Good.
Good.
Watch your footing.
We're almost up 1,000 feet.
Everyone was in unison.
But I know there's some anxiety.
And I try to get my mind off my thoughts, So I can't think, so I start yelling this chant.
Let the tension keep you up.
Let the tension keep you up.
Let the tension keep you up.
Let the tension keep you up.
It's crazy.
We're linked.
If one person slips, peace.
I mean, here we go.
We're all gone.
Watch your feet.
Whoa! Keep it going.
Keep it going.
Let that tension keep you up.
We're all strapped together, and we just got to walk face-first right down the side of this big, bad ass building.
I'm staring down 70 stories.
Whoa! - Stand up.
- Got it.
- Good job.
- Lean forward.
Let's do it, team.
Let the tension keep you up.
Let the tension keep you up.
- Come on! Let's go! - There's the line! Let's go! Whoo! Lean forward.
Lean forward.
Lean forward.
I got it.
- Stand up.
Stand up.
- Get your footing.
Get your footing.
Lean forward.
- Let's go.
- Sorry, guys.
Jump back up.
It was just so exhilarating, like, ah! And we were all a team.
Come on.
A little more.
A little bit more, guys.
There you go.
Yeah! It's awesome to celebrate something by yourself.
When you needed everyone and you finish it together, It's awesome.
And we're just screaming.
We're hugging.
Hero! This is why we're all here.
This is why we all came.
It is the best challenge ever.
- That was sick, bro! - That was crazy! - Oh, yo, yo! - Hold on.
- We got a tablet.
- Pumped up.
Go into the room, here's a tablet.
You know, at this point in the game, it's like, "yeah, all right.
Here we go.
What the hell is next, right?" Three must move on and get to the 51st floor emergency exit.
The other two must go home.
You have 10 minutes to decide.
All right, yo.
I'm good, man.
That was dope for me.
That was I can end on that.
I did two Hero's challenges.
For me, I did my part.
I know climbing ain't my thing.
And taking a step back for the team is what a hero does.
I want to do it.
I want to do it.
- You know, we can climb.
- Hell, yeah.
This is the last challenge.
It's going to be big, and I'm going to be on it.
- I want to do it.
- It's yours.
Nice.
Lydia, Dave, and Marty have been patient for quite a few weeks.
They've been sitting out.
They've been ready to go.
So I think they deserve that chance.
Go, go, go, go.
- Let's go.
- Go.
Marty, Lydia, the doc it's in the bag.
Come on up, Patty.
I get to Trump tower and I'm starting to think, "am I eliminated? Is he going to have me vote back in someone that got eliminated?" This game confuses me every time I think I figure it out.
All right, Patty.
Three of your teammates Yes, sir.
Are getting ready to do a slack wire walk Okay.
50 stories up Between two sections of the Trump tower here.
Walking across these wires one by one, They'll have to get across before the remaining Three and half minutes on the clock runs out.
Now, here's the offer I got for you, And it's different.
I'm offering you $35,000, and all you do is nothing.
You don't do a thing.
Your teammates will attempt the wire walk.
That's it.
But I want to tell you, The chances of this team challenge Being a success for you guys greatly increases If the number of teammates go from three to one.
Right now I'm offering you that chance to be the one.
I can't even feel my face.
Your face feels good.
It's there? Yeah.
Yeah, I'm scared, but it's a different fear.
I've offered you money this entire competition, And you've said no.
Everything inside of me was saying, "I can't win this thing.
I'm gonna grab a little cash.
" I may not get a shot like this ever again.
The rock doesn't give second chances easily.
See how far down that is? I do.
All right.
I can't feel my hands right now.
You can take the money, let your teammates do the walk, Or forgo the money and increase your chances Of succeeding in this team challenge By doing the walk yourself.
I have to do something That's scaring the living hell out of me.
But the truth is this is money for the red cross.
It's virtually impossible for three teammates To walk across this tightrope in 3 minutes and 30 seconds total.
Do you want to do something legendary? No hesitation.
Legendary.
This time I'm not letting go of my "what if?" moment.
I want the challenge.
Hey, kids.
Hey, Patty! Yo, yo, yo.
Hi, guys.
Hi, guys.
How are you? Good.
Well, guys.
I do have some news for you.
Patty passed up an offer for $35,000, And as a result of her passing up the offer, Instead of the three of you doing this epic wire walk, Patty has chosen to go by herself And send you three back to the apartment.
Really? Are you kidding me right now? I'm so set to do this.
This is the last challenge of the game.
And then finding out that I'm not, I'm pissed off.
I know you guys were ready to bring it.
But you're not doing it.
You guys can go back to the penthouse.
Oh, my heart just went out to her in that moment.
I know you can do it.
Like, we can't even support her, cheer her on? We got to go just like that? I was very upset.
I'm disappointed that I'm not able To do the second part of the team challenge.
On the other hand, I'm happy for Patty because this could be her moment.
Okay.
Well, know by your look on your face what happened.
You don't know what happened.
Patty didn't take a temptation.
We would have had three minutes to walk a tightrope.
She now has three minutes to do it by herself.
Why are you guys so mad? What happened? The thing is, dude, I wanted to finish this the last challenge.
And now it just got taken away.
It's like the same thing with that switch.
Three people get voted in, Athena took a switch and screwed it up.
I'm mad because I'm scared for Patty And I can't even be there for her to support her.
I'm being straight up.
She had a terrified look on her face.
You know she has a huge fear of heights.
Horrified.
I mean, she was, like, shaking a little bit up there, so.
In my head, I'm like she kind of helped the team Because I don't know if they would have been able to get it done In three and a half minutes with three people.
$100,000 in the pot And 50 bands to the red cross is on the line.
When everything comes down to one moment in your life, How you deal with it Reveals everything about your character.
I'm shaking.
I'm not looking down.
It is just unbelievably terrifying.
I'm starting to think, "are you sure you really want this?" I'm gonna always regret losing that money if I don't win.
Come on, Patty.
I would rather failed than not be able have to do it at all.
- Forget that, man.
- Let's just have faith in our teammate.
- I do.
- All right.
Let's just do that.
- But I wanted to do it.
- But sometimes And if you don't understand it, then that's your problem.
- No, it's your problem.
- No, it's not! It's your problem! If you don't give a shit, then that's your problem! - I wanted to do it! - I can't handle Marty right now.
That dude is so immature and selfish.
That's getting so old.
He's gonna have to really get over his self.
For real.
Like, seriously.
Like, this is not about you being in the last challenge.
Patty is terrified right now out there.
Everybody knows how I feel about heights.
Just focus! Do I think I can walk across a tightrope at 500 feet In three and a half minutes? I don't think so.
I'm scared.
Come on, Patty.
That's it.
That's it.
Come on, Patty.
I know I have to find that power and that courage inside.
And that's pretty scary to think where the hell is it gonna come from? 'Cause I've never had it before.
I can't do this.
What's wrong? I'm so afraid of heights.
Focus.
I'm right here.
Look at me.
Just come to me.
Weeks ago, she couldn't even get up a flight of stairs.
Look at her now.
You're not gonna fail.
I'm not.
[bleep.]
yes.
You got an opportunity here to get in that helicopter.
- You can do it.
- I can.
You take it to the next level.
One minute left.
Come on, Patty.
Come on, Patty.
Got to hurry to make the time.
You're doing it, Patty.
You are doing it.
Focus.
There you go.
I'm right here.
30 seconds.
You're running out of time, Patty.
You've got to push yourself.
You wanted this epic moment.
Now everybody's counting on you.
There you go.
That's it.
That's it.
That's it.
You've come this far.
I need you to focus.
One in front of the other.
$100,000 on the line, $50,000 for the red cross.
You can do this.
Come on, Patty.
Come to me.
Yes! Yes! I can't come anywhere.
I got you.
You did it.
We did that! From that building all the way to this building.
I was so scared! 50 stories up.
You had five seconds left.
There is no way your team would have done that.
As great as they are, there's no way, Not in 3 minutes and 30 seconds.
You did it.
So grateful.
$100,000.
You just won $50,000 for red cross.
I'm pumped for red cross.
That's awesome.
Come here.
That's so good.
All right.
Let's get back to the penthouse.
Sounds good.
Let's take the elevator.
Let's definitely take the elevator.
I feel unsatisfied Because I wanted to finish this thing from front to back, And I felt like it was stripped from me.
Wow.
I just have to support Patty in her decision.
I hope she does it.
I hope that was the twist.
I can't wait to tell everybody my awesome surprise.
Oh! I was the one left behind And I was able to prove today they needed me.
I was successful.
Don't lift me! All right! Yeah! So, you overcame your greatest fear.
I feel like I just went through a Hero's challenge.
This was epic.
This was the moment.
There's an extra 100 k in the pot For whoever America picks, And now I definitely feel like a true sixth teammate.
Are you fine? Mm-hmm.
I didn't mean to take anything away from you.
You know out of anything in the whole world I would never have done that.
I hope you believe me.
I do.
Okay.
Patty pulls Marty to the side, Apologizes to him Because she didn't mean to take his moment.
Like, you thought you were doing something good And you're apologizing to him, trying to make him feel better.
He's gonna have to learn that on his own.
That's his own lesson.
I think it's absolutely ridiculous That you're apologizing to him for his behavior.
You're just enabling him, basically.
He'll never learn anything 'cause you keep coddling him.
It burns me up because he calls it competitiveness And it's not that.
It's immaturity.
Charlie kind of called him out And then I said a few things.
We said, like, "look, man.
"be happy for Patty And let her, you know, get that moment.
" You know? 'cause I hate to say this.
I mean, I love the guy, but he's a little bit selfish.
And, you know, he finally came around later on, but It doesn't matter.
He shouldn't and it's not one isolated incident.
When you guys came back the other night.
I knew what was going on.
I'm gonna listen in so I don't barge in And make like a mistake and say, "are you talking crap about me?" But I don't really care because I don't care what people think of me.
It's not an isolated incident.
Remember when he threw the water bottle when he couldn't go? I'm through.
I'm over it.
I'm not here to be nobody's daddy.
I just don't like it.
That's all.
Who deserves to be here is kind of subjective.
At this point, it is what it is.
The game has played itself out, And all six of us are gonna be voted on by America.
And let's get past this.
Let's get over it.
We just got to celebrate for a second, And let's make that something that we put behind us.
Now we can relax.
- I feel like we're done.
- I don't know.
I feel like it's I don't know.
Do you feel like it's calm before the storm? Well, I don't think so, man.
I think this is the way it ends.
And the six heroes rode off in the sunset.
The mood in the house is getting tighter.
Everyone's feeling a bond.
Everyone's excited.
They feel like this is the group that needs to go to the final.
It's a good feeling right now, a good vibe.
Oh, I don't like Charles' face.
Once again I'm scared out of my mind.
I don't even know what's coming.
Oh, man.
- I feel like something's coming.
- Yeah.
Just everyone eat.
We'll take our time.
Um, I got something to say.
- What? - What? There's a message on in the war room.
What did it say? It said, "only five can go to the finals.
" - I knew it.
- And we have to decide who to eliminate.
- I knew it.
- One person.
- How do we do this? - I think it's - Well, I'll make it easy for you guys.
- Charles.
- No.
- Charles.
I don't think our moment should be ruined.
I honestly feel like if I go home tomorrow, I go home with such peace.
Please don't cry.
I'm telling you.
This is not right! No, no.
Stop, stop.
Please.
This is just not right! Please, you're not letting me have my moment, my purpose.
Everyone had their purpose of coming here.
And I'm not saying that I don't deserve to go, But I'm saying this is my peace, This is my purpose, why I came.
I said from the beginning when the rock asked me When does my search end, and it ends when I read that.
A hero is able to give up what they want most For something greater.
As a police officer, I put my hand up And I took an oath to basically do what I have to do, Do my duty, and if that meant laying down my life, That's what I committed to do, And this journey for me was all about "I don't know you, "but if you needed me to put my life on the line for you, "I would leave my wife And everything I cherish in life for you.
" You are an integral part of this six, So to us, we can't have you go.
You deserve it.
Okay.
I'm telling you, I don't need to go to the final to know I'm a hero.
I know I'm a hero.
I'm ready to go home.
He's willing to give up a half million dollars, Which can change his life, to see somebody else prosper.
Please say yes.
If you don't say yes, you're not letting me go.
It just doesn't feel right.
Yeah, it doesn't 'cause you gave so much to us.
Charles is doing probably one of the most heroic things.
You know, it's a selfless act.
You know, he could be the most heroic person on this whole show And America's not gonna get to vote for him.
Is that what you want? 'cause we can make a vote.
We don't have to do this.
I think everyone probably is thinking, "all right.
"it's better for me.
"it definitely takes some off me.
And of course you want to be in the final five.
" God.
I don't want him to go.
He's we've been best friends.
Honestly, that's why I didn't vote for him on the swim, 'cause I knew he wasn't going to come back.
It pissed me off.
And I wanted him to come back.
I don't have to vote for Charles.
Someone has to go home.
I mean, the only person I guess that would be At the top of my list would be Darnell Because, you know, he took the $50,000 And he's got something.
I don't want to see any one of us go.
Look at this guy.
The fact that this dude is saying He wants to sacrifice his self and he wants our vote, The decision's nowhere near set in stone.
I mean, there's not much you can really say about it.
It's my vote.
He can't do anything about that.
Are you okay? Okay.
That's a stupid question.
So we're not gonna start with "are you okay?" I don't want to live my life with regrets, And I have got to tell Patty how Marty has been acting.
And I love Marty.
I do.
I do.
I know you do.
Are you gonna tell I don't know much Other than Darnell asked me to stop coddling him.
But I still don't know what happened.
He flipped out.
What kind of flip out? Like shut down angry.
And I'm thinking we're on the same page, me and him, 'cause I got pissed off That we weren't able to be there for you, Like, we couldn't even be there for you.
And I'm thinking he's pissed off with me Till we get to the house and sit in the kitchen, And he says, "that was my last opportunity at a challenge And they took that from me.
" Darnell and I had to walk off.
We couldn't believe it.
Someone needs to go.
As much as I love Marty, I would have to say Marty.
I'm just saying.
He's great.
He's young, but does that make him More worthy than Charles? I have no regrets at all.
Even my little temper tantrums.
Tirades? Yeah, that's what they are.
That's what they are.
Temper tantrums.
Yep.
That's what they are.
It's all good, man.
You live and you learn.
There you go.
Maybe I would vote for Dave because I think financially He's probably in the best position of all of us.
And I was pissed at Marty, like, you know what? Maybe he needs to learn a lesson And know what it feels like to lose And to be able to deal with it.
I don't know.
Maybe I'll just go in and vote for myself.
I really don't know at this point.
Sometimes I hate this competition.
It sucks.
If the majority picks someone else, that's out of my control.
It's amazing how we come here nine strangers, and then we can't even send one person home 'cause we're so close.
Look at this rainbow.
Oh, my god.
We have a tough decision to make.
You know, I know Charles told everyone that he wants to go, and, you know, he's expecting everyone to vote for him.
But it's not 100% that Charles is going.
You know, I could go.
Darnell could go.
That's lucky.
- See, it's gonna be okay.
- I don't know, Charles.
If they don't vote me off, my journey is not over yet.
I think I just have to figure out what that means.
All right, heroes.
Have a seat.
What is a hero? Over the next couple of days, America's gonna be voting on who is the Hero.
Will they be voting for someone with heart, With integrity, honesty, self-sacrifice? That's up to America to decide.
They're also gonna be voting on who's earned the right To take home the final grand prize, Which is a life-changing amount of money.
It's $610,000.
It's a lot of money.
But before that, there are six of you at this table.
America can only vote on five, which means we're gonna vote And we're gonna see who's going home.
Let's get started.
Patty, who were you before this competition started? And, Patty, more importantly than that, who are you today? I'll always say that I was "just a mom.
" I forgot that I don't have to Put the word "just" in front of that.
But I just hope I inspire some other woman Who thought she was "just a mother" That she's more than that.
That's what I wanted to be for somebody else.
Dr.
Dave.
Yes, sir.
You're a trauma surgeon.
So many people entrust you with their lives.
You know, I don't put myself on the line like Charles does.
I mean, he's a hero to me, But I have dedicated my life to taking care of people.
I think I'm a good person.
When I came here, man, I gave it my all.
There wasn't a single team competition, the Hero challenge, nothing that I didn't bust it.
And hopefully maybe you guys learned something from me As much as I learned from you, So, you know, I played it straight up And I gave it my all, and I hope America sees that.
Okay.
Well said.
D.
Yo.
You're the only one here at this table That went on two Hero's challenges.
That indicates they trust you.
D, why are you the Hero? The word, it's reserved for doctors, teachers, Police officers, people that serve our country.
My hero was my pops, Somebody that took care of my mom and me no matter what.
So I came in yeah, I mean, do I want to win? Yeah, I think everybody wants to win.
I think that kind of money would change all six of us.
As long as I get home And I'm a hero like my dad was to me.
If I'm half the man, father, and husband my dad was, I'm winning.
I'm winning.
Lydia, what have you learned about yourself From this competition? Just like the journey in my real life.
I'm going for my dreams.
It's all or nothing.
If I could challenge myself to get through this competition, Whatever's thrown at me, I can take that back to the real world.
I search my mind for what is the definition of a hero, And I see it in the doctor, I see it in Marty, I see it in Charlie, I see it in Patty, I see it in Darnell.
If America sees any of that in me, I won.
I won.
All right.
Marty.
What's up, dude? You have done everything you could do To get into these challenges.
At times, your unfailing desire can rub people the wrong way.
It's come across the wrong way.
It's gotten a little emotional at times.
Have you grown in this competition? I'm not, like, an angry, young dude, you know? I get this huge opportunity with you, And I wanted to just beat everything up.
And, like, they taught me, you know, basically, Not everything is about you.
And, you know, I love the value of team.
Okay.
Charles, from day one, You've been searching for yourself.
Have you finally found what you've been searching for? I'm staring at that $610,000.
To me, that means it's love for my family.
It means more time for my family.
It means being able to pursue some of the dreams I have.
It means being able to say thank you To the people in my life who sacrificed for me.
So the search was all about "can I let go of that?" And I think yesterday when I sat in front of all you And I was able to say, "I can let go of all that, Of all those things that $610,000 represents to me," Then I'm there.
That's powerful, man.
What a crazy journey.
All right.
Let's vote on the final five.
Whatever happens today, I'm ready.
I'm ready to go.
This is the hardest decision I've ever had to make.
Charles, he wants to take himself out of the competition.
It doesn't feel right.
I was really thinking about not wanting to vote for him 'cause there was someone else I was thinking about.
It's not an easy decision, And if I'm going into this thing Just open-minded and thinking, "who do I vote for?" I'm probably gonna vote for Marty.
Okay.
The first Hero eligible for America's vote is Okay.
Let's see what our final five will be.
The first Hero eligible for America's vote is - Patty.
- Oh.
I want to do this for every mother who thought we were too old to keep dreaming.
I played this game as well as I could have.
No regrets.
I'm really happy With the fact that I was true to who I am.
I really need the money.
But, no, I won't do it.
Out of this entire experience I got most courage, and I can definitely say I never had courage recognized in me before.
- This competition changed my life.
- You found your mana.
It's really empowering.
It makes you think you can take on, You know, the next dream.
The second Hero eligible for America's vote Darnell.
This is the final vote.
That gets me a lot closer to winning $610,000, And that can change my family's life.
All right.
Here we go.
I'm happy with how I played the game.
Oh, this is so dope.
Been true myself.
Been true to who I am, my family, my teammates.
Watch your step.
Watch your step.
If this thing has taught me anything, It's about how much heart I have.
I learned that I can push myself to the limit and keep going.
Don't give up.
Never.
I can get down, fall down, and get back up.
I can lose and keep going.
And even though it got to me emotionally, physically, Mentally, all of that made me better.
You are a better man now for your little girls Than when you started.
I think I've proven what I would do, How much heart I have, and I showed that.
The third Hero eligible for America's vote is Lydia.
Lydia! I'd like to be a hero to all of the orphans out there, All of the foster children out there.
My journey doesn't end until America says it ends.
My ultimate goal is to go back to Oakland And purchase mills college, And I'd like to turn it into an orphanage.
Don't sting me.
Please.
And if I did that, yeah, I feel like I'd be a hero.
- Hero! - Lived in orphanages, Foster homes until I was 18, So anything I do in life, I do for me and me alone.
And for a brief time I didn't feel alone.
The fourth Hero eligible for America's vote is the good doctor, Dr.
Dave.
Wow.
Let the tension keep you up! Come on.
Let's go! Last year was a really tough year for me.
My marriage fell apart, and I have an issue with trust.
The bottom line is from the minute I walked Into this house, I had everyone's trust.
It just gave me a whole new outlook on life, And it was kind of like my comeback, you know? I know that I'm gonna be a better person.
I kind of feel fearless.
Yeah.
I got it! I feel like there's nothing that life can't throw at me That's gonna stop me.
Yeah! Nice! I've done really good in all the team challenges, I never took a bribe, and I really gave it my all, So just let the dice roll.
See what happens.
Marty, Charles, one of you will be eligible for America's vote, The other this is the end.
The final Hero eligible for America's vote Marty.
I came into this game thinking I'm gonna win, you know? I'm gonna beat everything up that they give me.
Yes! And through this process, I learned that Sometimes my competitiveness can get the best of me.
And I learned that if you have good people around you That they can help you channel that into something good.
Yeah! The reason I'm here Is just to make my dad and my brother proud.
I got you! You know, the money would help my family.
- You can take the $60,000, bro.
- My dad works like an animal.
He's 56 years old and he's still doing construction, working harder than 25-year-olds that he works with.
And I just want to be able to help him and have my dad say, "you know what, Mart? I'm proud of you and I love you a lot.
" - Charles.
- Yes.
Charles, I need you to know that you are everything that this show is.
- It's been an honor.
- This wasn't a game.
This wasn't a competition.
This was truly about life.
Give what you have to be heroic in your life every day.
And because of all you guys, I was able to let go of what I wanted the most.
It was always about the money because I told you what that money meant to me.
Every hero deserves a right to define their own journey.
- You've earned that.
- Until I see you guys again, aloha.
Aloha.
A hero is self-sacrificing, full of compassion.
