Wolfblood Secrets (2016) s01e07 Episode Script
Hatred
In a secret location, the investigation into wolfbloods is becoming bad-tempered.
If we play by the rules, we are at serious disadvantage, because they do not.
One day you're going to go too far.
You're going to go too far, someone is going to get hurt and then what? You're going to end up in a cage, I guess.
Smith! Matei Covaci.
What about him? If you want to talk about hate, let's talk about him.
You see, I hear you saying that you don't hate anybody, but I look at your friends and all I see is hate.
I think you're mistaking your feelings for theirs.
I just think you're better than them at hiding it.
I think that wolfbloods feel persecuted by humans, you do that weirdo thing and then you look back at a time when you were all kings and you think, "Oh, this was all ours and they have taken it away.
" Can we get this back on track, please? It is bang on track.
If you want to know who she is, then look at the others.
They hate us.
It's as plain as the tail on their back ends.
If you're trying to make out that Matei is like that, - then you're way off.
- Oh, am I? Please, sit down.
I'm fine.
Mr.
Covaci, Matei.
Let him stand, if he feels more comfortable.
You can always bring him in a basket.
Or a kennel.
[He chuckles.]
Is it safe to say, Mr.
Covaci, that you're not 100% at ease in the human world? Says the one who drags his knuckles along the floor.
Things will be a lot easier if you answer Mr.
Smith's questions, believe me.
The human world, how much a part of it do you feel? - Last question - Hiya.
Do you find it hard to tell the object of your affection how you feel? What? Yeah, great.
- Jana? - Won't be long.
OK, the results are in.
You are country and western, Taylor Swift.
Your heart's in the right place, but you need help finding the right words.
Great.
SMITH: You don't really get them, do you? I have no words.
I have minus words.
You find them mystifying.
Shall we play again? Mm? How about I Spy? I spy with my little eye something beginning with S.
It's going to be a long day.
What's that, Matei? Something beginning with S.
Snow? Correct! Your turn.
I feel right at home.
You have a sister, don't you? Listen, I still don't know who you are.
We are trying to avoid human/wolfblood conflict.
To do that, we need to learn all we can about wolfbloods.
If you want to help your sister, or Jana - Jana? - Then you should help us.
[Sniffs loudly.]
[Sniffs.]
Yes.
I have a sister.
We've seen the Segolia records and we know what happened to you both - the fire.
- Who gave you access to that? Seriously.
Why is that public knowledge? We are not the public, Matei.
It must have been very difficult for a young girl, all that I would never leave the house if I looked like her.
- She's tough.
- But you're her big brother, there's still a sense of responsibility, am I right? [Giggling.]
She can handle herself.
But I'm guessing she still feels very glad that you're there for her.
Do you losers want to see me win a taekwondo trophy tonight? - Get lost, Hannah.
- Rude.
Are you allowed to take antiques out of a museum? - Give it back.
- Or what? Give it back, Hannah.
Little wolf Emilia needs her big brother - to protect her.
- Stop it, Matei.
- Go away.
- Ha-ha! What are you doing? Are you trying to embarrass me? - I'm looking out for you.
- Yeah, like you always do.
I can look after myself.
We're close.
It's really good that you've both still got each other.
It must be very hard sometimes.
[She sniffles.]
Remember when you were little? You used to call no-moon days "baboon days".
No, I never.
- That was Mum.
- That was you.
Then Mum made up the story about how baboons used to steal the moon once a month, just so you wouldn't bother her and Dad when it came around.
On days like this I miss them so much.
Me, too.
Sometimes I wish you had never carried me out of the fire.
I expect you think about your parents a lot.
I don't remember much about my mum.
But, erm, I still miss her.
This is all we have left of ours.
Can I see? She loved you both so much.
She used to take you on long walks and tell you all about the flowers and the trees.
She said that as long as you were connected to nature, you were connected to all wolfbloods [He sniffles.]
even the ones who had died.
And you must still think about the way they died.
I mean, a fire, for a wolfblood, that's like I can't imagine.
[Shrieking.]
: No! [Howling.]
No, that's enough! Stop! No! You have to run.
Come back! [She pants wildly.]
You all right? - Yeah.
- What did you see? A face at the window, outside, looking in.
A boy.
- A wolfblood? - No.
A human? - Did he start the fire? - I don't know, Matei.
I just know he was there.
Must have left you and your sister with a lot of anger, Matei.
Emilia! [She roars.]
- Emilia! Emilia! - What did you do? - Emilia! - What is wrong with her? OK, calm down.
So, that went well.
- You all right? - She's off her head.
Get out.
I haven't done nothing.
Then why were you outside our house, the night of the fire? At first, maybe.
- Not any more.
- Yeah, but you're not a saint.
In my experience, victims of hate crime end up hating too.
That's your experience.
It wasn't a hate crime, it was an accident.
It wasn't my fault.
Segolia sent me to your dad for counselling.
He said I could learn to love the wolf.
He transformed to show me that his wolf wouldn't hurt me, but it freaked me out.
And I panicked, knocked things over.
Something caught fire.
I don't know how, it just happened, and I ran.
You killed Matei's parents? The wolf did.
[He snarls.]
- An accident? - That's right.
I have no reason to hate anyone.
Shall we move on and talk about your relationship with Jana? - Relationship? - In what capacity did you know Can I Can I just jump back a little? I'm I think there's something I'm missing, sorry.
I'm just wondering, if you and your sister are so close and supportive, and getting through this together, then why can't we find her? See, nobody knows where she is.
And I'm It's just making me think, like, maybe she isn't welcome in the human world.
You don't need to know where she is.
I'm not right, am I? Well, she has gone away.
See, some of our people thought wild pack, not because people couldn't accept her for what she is, surely? People, humans, they wouldn't be that shallow, would they, Matei? That small-minded and petty that they can't see past a small burn.
A girl who's already lost so much, and they take away what's left her confidence, her dignity, her only shot at a normal life.
A wolfblood wouldn't treat her like that, would they? In the wild that is a mark of honour.
You are a a'cerddwyr tan.
A what? A firewalker.
Would they stare at me in the wild? They would envy you.
ECHOES: I would never leave the house if I looked like her.
But a human, they don't get the idea of a pack, of looking after the weakest as well as the strongest.
You see, humans only care about themselves.
Who cares what you've been through, what you've suffered? ALL: Touched by fire.
Aran and Meinir told us about you.
We've never seen a wolf that's walked through fire.
And because of that, because we couldn't find it in our tiny little hearts to make a little girl feel welcome in our world, you're left alone, aren't you? I want to stay here.
What? This is home.
What are you on about? I'm part of this place.
It's in my heart.
It's where I belong.
But what about my heart? You'll always be with me, Matei.
You don't have to look after me any more.
You can be free Live your life in the city.
Tell her.
If Emilia's drawn to this place, then she should stay here.
Let her try it.
It doesn't have to be for ever.
We'll watch over her.
If she's not happy I'll bring her back.
You're left alone without anybody.
How does that make you feel about humans, eh? Tell me, Matei, go on.
How does it make you feel about us humans? [He growls.]
He doesn't hate humans.
- I'm just saying what I see.
- There's no hate in him.
- That's not who he is.
- It is.
It's who you all are, it's what makes you wolfbloods, this big, furry mass of hate inside you.
Say it is many times as you like, it doesn't make it true.
Oh, really? What if I use a different word? - What word? - What do you know about the morwal?
If we play by the rules, we are at serious disadvantage, because they do not.
