releasing them of their regrets
and their mistakes for good.

Two weeks before the wedding,

up with a plan to stop it.
When the wedding day finally came,

that when I walked into the
bridal suite, Covey would be gone.

ETTA: Back then, we were taught
to rely on boys and men to save the day,
so I was counting on Gibbs.
But I couldn't tell Pearl or Covey.
I couldn't tell anyone.
I had to play along until Gibbs
arrived with a better plan.
Just
let your mind drift.
I didn't know what else to say
to get her through that day.
But when I saw the results of my
advice, I regretted it immediately.
[GUESTS APPLAUDING]
LITTLE MAN: Ladies and

[GUESTS CHEERING]
ETTA: My best friend was disappearing,
pretending,
burying her true feelings,
her true self.
The feeling was all too familiar,
and time was running out.
As the night wore on, I realized
I couldn't wait for Gibbs.
As much as he loved Covey,
he didn't have any way to save her.
But I did.
