[person] Get out!
Okay, heavy bleeding
Can you lift your sweater?
Let me lift your sweater.
[person] Michael, where are you?
What's your name?
[stutters]
Cynthia.
- Cynthia.

You'll be okay. We can do this, okay?
What happened?
The ceiling caved in downstairs.
[groaning]
- What's your name?
- Naomi.
- Naomi?
- Yeah.
Are there still a lot of people
down there?
- Yeah, loads.
- Yeah?
[Naomi] Yeah.
Give me your hand.
[Naomi] Half of them are still dancing.
Press here as hard as you can.
Then, very slowly,
take your friend outside
- and wait until someone comes, okay?
- [Naomi] Okay.
- Stay together until someone comes! Okay?
- [Cynthia] Mm-hmm.
Okay.
Good.
There's the exit.
Now! Go!
[Naomi] Come on.
Out, get out! There's the way out. Go!
[person in background]
That's the way out.
We need to go!
Faster!
That's the way out, over there!
[muffled dance music playing]
[people cheering]
- [Ben] Wait, wait!
- No, not a chance!
[grunts]
I'm coming with you.
There's no way you're working, Ben.
I'll be back once I'm done.
No, you're wrong. I can work.
You're staying here.
Okay?
Do you understand me?
- [sirens wailing]
- [helicopters whirring]
Yeah. Fine.
[door closes]

[muffled dance music playing]
[chattering]

[person] I don't know
if my son's still in there.
- There's still people
- We can't help anyone
if the whole place collapses.
- Come with me.
- Give me your backpack.
Give me your backpack!
[person] Help, please!
[person 2]
I don't know what to do!
[EMT] Where are you going?
You're crazy!
[Zanna] Hello, everyone.
It's gonna get pretty crowded in a minute.
So if you don't mind,
could you please sit on the right side?
Thank you, thank you.
So, Jenny?
Four departments are sending ten people.
Okay, great. We need more ventilators,
transport equipment, and more beds, okay?
More of everything.
Then come inside.
Okay.
What the hell's going on?
A part of the Venti Club caved in.
It's just around the corner.
They're sending most of
the patients to us.
[Beck] We need to divert the patients.
We can't possibly admit everyone.
Divert them where?
They're already here.
Make yourself useful.
[sirens wailing]
[firefighter]
1501 requesting support.
[dispatcher] Requesting reinforcements.
- [siren wailing]
- Come with me.
Somebody help here!
[firefighter]
Let's go! Let's go!
[dispatcher] Neukölln Control Center
calling all units:
please distribute patients
to all hospitals in the area.
Thank you.
[radio beeps]
[dispatcher 2] 71204, received.
Hey. You okay?
[Olivia] Yeah.
Just my first run without Olaf.
[Philippa] You'll be all right.
[person] Help! Help!
- [dispatcher] 1504, where are you?
- [clamoring]
[dispatcher 2] 71204, ETA two minutes.
Two minutes.
[person 2] Can I get somebody
over here, please?
We need help here, please!
[dispatcher] Backup requested
at the rear entrance, north of the river.
Hey! Over here!
You can follow me, please!
[Olivia] Yeah.
Hey, clear the way up there!
[dispatcher]
We have people in the river.
Requesting assistance from
River Control.
[person in distance]
Help! Help!
Somebody help!
[paramedic]
Trauma bay!
[screaming]
Don't rush. Go slowly.
Oxygen for Dr. Beck,
and where is my trauma surgeon?
[Emina] Trauma surgeon in the room.
[Zanna] Hi, can you hear me?
Okay. Jenny, how long
has this patient been in here?
I don't have a clue.
It's a war zone here.
[siren wails in distance]
[patient screams]
[patient] I just want it to stop!
Shit.
[patient] Can anybody help me?
If I could have everyone's attention
for a minute, please!
I need those of you who can stand
and walk on their own
to please step through this door
into the waiting area.
No running.
You'll be treated as soon as
we can get to you.
Thank you in advance.
[Zanna sighs]
May-Lee
you'll put on this beautiful yellow vest,
and grab two nurses for triage
in the admissions area.
No one comes into this department
without a pre-examination.
Please tag all patients
in well-visible areas.
Ankle, wrist, you know the drill.
We've got green for minor injuries.
They'll wait in the admissions area.
We have yellow for head injuries,
open fractures, and burns.
They'll need to be treated urgently
but can wait for a bit.
Red: breathing problems,
wounds with active bleeding
They need immediate treatment.
Take them to the trauma bay,
or, if the trauma bay is full,
which is very likely,
then leave them outside.
Boss, where do you need me?
Let me think.
Help me with the reds.
If we split up,
we'll have a better chance.
Got it. You come with me!
If anyone doesn't know
what they're supposed to do,
come talk to me.
- Any questions?
- [patient screams]
No? Let's go.
- [Nezire] Dr. Parker?
- Yeah?
Here.
[panting]
My goddamn water just broke.
[whimpering]
[Zanna] But that's great!
Uh
We need someone to take you upstairs.
I'll take her.
No, no. I need you down here.
Um, wait a sec.
Dr. Beck!
Steffen!
Her contractions are starting.
Could you please take her upstairs?
- Thank you.
- I'm so sorry.
- No, no.
- It's okay.
Please bring a healthy baby
into this world. Okay?
- Don't worry.
- Let's go.
[whimpers]
- [Freddie] Zanna!
- Yeah?
- We need you in here.
- [Zanna] Coming.
[Juri] Okay, we've got a range of
different injuries!
Burns, crush injuries, fractures
- [patient screaming]
- Third-degree burns coming through!
[screaming]
Careful, please. Make way.
Paramedics coming through!
[patient crying]
[Juri] First, we have
a severely injured male.
A doctor is with him.
Okay. We go in from up there. Got it?
[Philippa] Let's unstrap the stretcher
for the stairs.
[Olivia] On one, two, three
Careful!
[Olivia] Dr. Kohn?
What are you doing here?
[Dom] He has multiple rib fractures.
Uh, spontaneous breathing
I've started infusions, left and right.
He needs to go right now.
- What's your name?
- Sophia.
[Olivia] Okay, Sophia. What happened?
I don't know. Everyone was running
and he tripped
and those idiots just stomped
right on top of him.
Is he stable enough to be moved?
I don't know.
But you've got to try.
[crashing]
[Juri] We've got to evacuate
the entire building!
Get these people out now! Right now!
- Can you make it from here?
- We're taking over.
[Juri] Now! Go, go, go!
Move!
Hey! Hey, you!
Where you going?
Stay here!
You can't go that way!
There's still people in there!
[Juri groans]
[Juri] If you're not back in ten minutes,
I'll send someone to get you!
[sirens wail in distance]
[sirens wailing]
Okay.
[firefighter]
Hold on to us, okay? We got you.
[person] Help!
I can't find my girlfriend.
[people shouting]
- [firefighter] Juri!
- [Juri] Hey!
[victim coughs]
Hey!
Out! Now!
What about them?
Listen up, Doc.
We're leaving now.
[thud]
[thud]
[person] Help!
[thud]
[person] Hey! Help!
Hello?
[thud]
[person] Help me!
Here, take the respirator.

[officer screams]
[Juri] Let's go!
- [officer screams]

What's your name, man?
Axel. Axel Witte.
[Juri] We got this, Axel.
Come on! Let's go!
[Dom grunts]
It's okay, it's okay.
Okay. [panting]
[victim cries out]
[helicopter whirring]
We were in the club together.
Last time I saw her was two hours ago.
Her cell was off.
Could you
Do you hear what I'm saying?
I hear you loud and clear,
but you need to sit down.
Can you please let me know
if the girl is here?
Calm down, sir.
I'll calm down when you tell me
if this girl is here or not.
Have a seat, sir. Stop yelling, damn it!
Where's Zanna?
[nurse]
I cannot give out this information.
- Where's Zanna? Do you know?
- Up there.
[overlapping shouting]
What are you doing here?
Helping.
- You cannot be here.
- [Ben] What?
[Nezire] Zanna, we need propofol!
I'll go get it.
Can you hold it?
I'll be right back.
You gotta let me work!
I don't have time for this.
You see what's going on here, right?
Come on. You can't possibly believe you
could be helpful in your state!
[Ben] Yes, I can!
[shouting from outside]
[door closes]
You almost died of an overdose.
Yeah.
[Zanna] An overdose!
Yeah.
You can't work going cold turkey.
Then
Okay, give me morphine.
It'll level me out.
I'm sorry, what?
Give me morphine.
- Then I can work.
- [door opens]
Zanna, multiple rib fractures
arriving in four minutes.
Okay. Can you get Emina for it, please?
She's tied up.
And we've got someone coming in
with severe burns,
40% of the body surface area.
[Ben] There! I I'll do it.
Jenny, got the narcotics cabinet key
on you?
Yeah.
Okay.
Ben takes the multiple rib fractures,
Emina the burns,
and I'll handle the rest of the reds.
Okay?
- [door opens]
- [shouting continues]
[door closes]
I hope you know what you're doing.
[door opens, closes]
[Ben] What do we have here?
Multiple rib fractures, left, closed,
no tension pneumothorax.
Spontaneous breathing
with blood pressure crashing,
90 over 67, tachycardiac.
Okay, trauma bay.
You have to stay outside, sorry.
Would you like to wait here?
[sobs]
[Ben] Okay, to room one,
we need to secure his airways.
Ben, what are you doing here?
[Ben] Not now. I cleared it with Zanna.
- [Kian] Nezire, I need propofol.
- Yep.
- She can go up.
- Going up.
Hurry up, please, everyone.
- I got it. Okay.
- [Ben] Quick, he's dying.
- [monitor beeping]
- No, gently.
Okay. Let's move him.
- Three, two, one
- Suction is coming.
Perfect. Okay, that worked.
- Hurry up, please.
- OE right.
[Ben] Skull is stable.
[Philippa] And the legs.
- [Kian] Intubating.
- Unstable on the left.
Hip is stable.
Blood pressure barely detectable.
[Kian] Uh We're fixing "A'" One in 100.
Okay, give him another O-negative.
Tell the blood bank we need
another five units and two FFP, okay?
- [nurse] Yes.
- I need you to hold it.
Come here, please.
Press. Great.
CO2 climbing. He's ventilated.
Is the air going in?
[Kian] Right, left, middle.
- No obstruction.
- [Ben] Good.
[beeping]
Shit. Pressure's dropping.
May be internal bleeding.
Check his stomach?
Hard as stone.
I need gel. Olivia, gel, please!
Thanks.
Liver looks good.
[Kian] Any fluids?
[Ben] Shit. Lots of fluid here.
The spleen is hypoechoic.
He's got internal bleeding!
[flatline]
- [Nezire] Asystole.
- I don't have a pulse.
Shit, shit, shit.
Bed down, bed down!
- [monitor flatlines]
- [Ben] Okay.
[Kian] Adrenaline's in.
[thumping]
If we can't stop the bleeding
it won't help.
Twenty-eight, 29, 30.
Take over, please! Take over.
Nezire, I need a surgical kit.
Scalpel, retractors,
all you can carry, okay?
You want to operate here?
Yeah, yeah. I'm opening him up.
[Nezire] Okay. Guys, you heard.
We're doing an emergency laparotomy.
I'll go get the screens.
[rumbling]
[Dom whispers] Okay, let's keep going.
[grunts]
Help here!
[mumbling]
Hello?
Hey!
Hey.
Hey.
Hey.
Please don't.
We can do this.

- Yes?
- [Nezire] Emina!
The patient with severe burns is here.
Coming. Can you take over?
Keep the oxygen level stable.
I'll be right back.
Got it.
[Emina] Ben, I'm here.
[Ben] My guy was trampled in the club.
Torn splenic artery.
Are you sure you need me?
No, take care of the other one.
[Emina] Got it.
[Axel screaming]
You will be okay.
[moaning]
[Nezire] Easy now, Mr. Witte.
Witte?
[Axel screaming]
[screaming]
Axel Witte

- [Ben] What's wrong?
Emina? Emina, hey!
[Nezire] Hey, we need you here!
Just do whatever you can, okay?
[Olivia] Emina
What are you doing?
I'm not treating him.
He'll die if you don't help him.
What do you want from me?
Mind your own business,
you've got no clue!
Just leave me alone!
[Olivia] Are you serious?
That's a human being in there.
Go.
Okay.
Too bad.
- [beeping]
- [Ben] Swab, please!
[Kian] More compression.
He's turning acidotic.
Second PRBC hooked up.
[Ben] Okay, retractor.
Prepare two Kocher clamps.

- [Kian] Ben, compressions.
Yeah, yeah.
Damn, I have to clamp the artery.
Shit.
Pads, please.
I can't see. Suction.
Too much blood.
Suction.
Keep giving cardiac massage.
Okay.
I can't feel anything.
[Nezire] Morphine injected.
[Axel moans]
How can I help?
His legs, please.
[Ben] Give me more pads, please.
[Axel screaming]
Another tissue
Fuck, where's this damn artery?
I've got to feel my way
Fuck.
[Axel groans]
Let the fluid flow
and place a catheter in, Nezire.
Anna, we intubate before
the airways are blocked.
Banks. Tube size eight.
[monitor beeping]
- [Nezire] Ben, I'm losing him.
- [Kian] More fluid.
One more liter Lactated Ringer's.
Turn off that beeping, will you?
- [beeping stops]
- [Kian] Prepare adrenaline infusion.
Stop for cardiac massage.
- [Kian] Stop.
- I need to feel it.
[Kian] Five grams epinephrine.
[Ben] Fuck. I still can't feel anything.
[Kian] Compressions!
Shit.
[Kian] Ben, he has no circulation.
Yeah, I know, man. I know.
Okay, fuck it!
[Kian] Okay, easy, Ben, easy
[Ben] Uh-huh.
Wait
Okay. I
I have it. I think I have it.
I feel something.
Okay. Clamp, please!
Fuck.
Come on now. Come on
Okay.
Clamp attached.
I'm taking over.
Bring me some more units, okay?
- [Ben panting]
- [thumping]
[Ben] Come on.
Come on!
[Kian] Wait, I think
I think I feel a pulse.
Ben! Ben!
We have a pulse.
CO2 rising.
Twenty-four
30
- [Ben] Over to the OR, now.
- [nurse] You got it.
[nurses speak indistinctly]
[Axel moaning]
[Nezire] Okay, Olivia,
I'll take it from here.
- Okay.
- Thank you.
Let's continue here.
- [monitor beeping]
- [Axel moaning]
We wrap him in cold gauze.
Now, where's the burn team?
[medic] Careful. Hands.
Didn't you say you were gonna stay home?
Yeah. Yeah.
- [Emina] Kian, take over?
- [Kian] Yeah.
[siren wails in distance]
Hi.
[Emina] Olivia!
I'm sorry.
For what?
I don't want you to leave me alone.
I'm sorry.
It's okay.
And thanks.
For what?
Thanks for being you.
[door opens, closes]
[Philippa clears throat]
- Shall we go?
- [Olivia] Yeah.
- [door closes]
- [engine starts up]
[siren wailing]
[radio chatter]
[siren stops]
[radio chatter]
[reporter] Emergency services are treating
the last of those rescued
from the Venti Club.
[reporter continues indistinctly]
[Philippa] Come on, Olivia,
one more round.
[Olivia] Coming.
[radio chatter]
[indistinct chatter]
No, no, no, no. Hey.
We can't let anyone go inside.
The whole site is unstable.
I'm gonna ask you to stay back, please.
Thank you.
[Olivia] Sorry, where's Dom?
- Hmm?
- Where's the doctor?
The doctor?
He must be here somewhere.
Or he already left.
But everyone got out. So
he's got to be here.
[panting]
[rumbling]
[sniffs]
[Juri] We're just about done, guys.
Let's get ready to roll!
Pack up, everyone.
[person] Have you seen my mom?
She was wearing
[reporter 1] Do you have an estimate
of the number
Yes?
[reporter 2] Not even a ballpark?
The public needs to know.
[reporter 1] When will the families
be informed?
[rescue worker] I have no idea.
Dom!
Dom!
[Dom] Hello!
Dom!
[Dom] Hello?
Dom!
Dom!
Dom?
Dom!
Hello?
[Olivia] Dom!
Olivia?
Hello?
Dom! Dom?
[Dom] Olivia!
Dom!
[Olivia] Help!
Help!
Dom! Dom, I'll go get someone, okay?
[ceiling rumbles]
Dom!
Dom, watch out for the ceiling!
- Run, Dom!
- [ceiling crashes]
Help! Help!
- [loud crash]
- [screams]
[Olivia sobs]
Dom
I'll get someone, okay?
[sobs]
Dom, I'll go get help.
Stay where you are, okay?
[sobs]
[monitor beeping]
Yeah, I got it.
[Kian] Okay, trauma bay, please,
and notify the burn team.
Emina.
- [Emina] Mm-hmm?
- Everything okay?
Yeah, I'm just doing a bit of paperwork.
My boss is a pain in the ass
about stuff like this.
[Zanna chuckles]
[applause]
[Nina] Our deepest thoughts
go out, of course,
to all the victims
of today's terrible tragedy
and to their loved ones.
[Zanna] Excuse me?
I'm sorry, you're blocking the access.
You have to clear the driveway.
What's this?
That's Nina Raths,
our Minister of Health.
She's here to speak to the press.
Okay, but can you do that somewhere else?
We need to keep the driveway clear.
Just a bit of press work
and then they're all gone.
- [assistant] Dr. Parker?
- Yes?
The senator would like
you to say a few words.
[chuckles]
No, thanks.
Come on, just say a few wise words,
so we can all move on,
business as usual.
These brave heroes
perform, day in and day out,
true miracles
- [scoffs]
- for all of us who are lucky enough
to live in Berlin.
I'd like to give you the opportunity now
to hear from the head of the ER herself,
on behalf of her team,
Dr. Suzanna Parker.
[crowd applauds]
Hey, keep it short, okay?
Right. Um
Thank you.
Thank you, Ms. Raths.
This
was a really tough day for us.
I mean, for all of us.
The whole team,
everyone in there that's
always so incredibly hardworking,
has again, today, selflessly done
everything they could to
I'm sorry. I heard you all call us
heroes and heroines who perform miracles?
And that's not what we are.
We're just people who want
to help other people,
who are exhausted,
and therefore, make mistakes too.
We have to pull double shifts all the time
because there's far too few of us
for far too much work.
But because we sometimes don't even have
the equipment we need to do our work well.
As head of this ER, I have tried,
and I am still trying, to make it better.
But in order to be consistent,
and, uh, to help more people
in a better way, I have
I have to put money
before the well-being of patients.
What we need are more resources.
And that's not just the case
here at the KRANK, but in Berlin,
- and it's the case everywhere.
- [vehicle approaches]
[engine switches off]
[Raths] Dr. Parker is right.
There is not enough money,
there's not enough staff,
and there's not enough resources.
We have failed to live up
to the expectations
of a public hospital.
I had hoped to do this in
a more formal announcement but,
for the reasons mentioned,
I have resolved
to take the difficult step
of consenting to the sale of this hospital
to the leading healthcare company,
Cure Pulse Equity, very soon.
It will remain under the leadership
of Dr. Steffen Beck.
Placing this ailing hospital
in the hands of a company
with years of expertise
in the healthcare sector
is the only course of action
to make it the place that the residents
of Kreuzberg, Neukölln,
and, indeed, all of Berlin deserve.
I'm happy we can count on
Cure Pulse Equity
to provide an exciting future
for the hospital of Kreuzberg-Neukölln
as a private clinic.
[crowd applauds]
[reporter]
One more question.
[sound distorts]
[sound muted]
[no audible dialogue]
[Zanna] Hey. Good morning.
They just confirmed Dom's death.
What a mindfuck.
[Zanna sighs]
[Ben] Yeah.
A head-fuck.
To Dom.
To Dom.
[sighs]
I've got to talk to the team.
No idea what I should tell them.
Except that tomorrow will go on as always.
Um
I'm on the schedule for tomorrow.
You know I can't let you work
in your condition.
Yeah, okay.
[vehicle approaching]
Cure Pulse, those are the fuckers
from the nursing home, right?
[Zanna] Right.
Awesome.
Just when you think the place
couldn't get any worse
[chuckles]
[Emina] Hey.
At least we're all here.
We'll see how much they get done.
"We"?
[Zanna] You're staying?
Well, you need someone
to lighten the mood, don't you?
Trixie gave birth to
a healthy baby girl, by the way.
[Ben] Nice.
Mm.
[door opens]
[Zanna sighs]
Are you firing me?
