008 - The Tower of Traps

Let's see here.
The river becomes swampland at this point.
Nasty-looking too.
Look over there, Wilykat.
I never noticed that tower before.
I don't like the looks of it.
Shush, Wilykit.
Let me concentrate.
Tygra wants these maps to be precise.
No, don't! Please! Help! Wilykat.
Someone's being attacked.
Sounds like robbers.
Come on, Kit.
Help! Get away! Thieves! Help! Help! I almost threw my back out of joint.
Those guys must have been made of stone.
Yeah.
I almost busted a toe.
Who were they? They're from the Black Tower of Robber Baron Karnor.
Forgive a foolish old Wolo for causing you this trouble.
I should never have taken this shortcut, but I was late for my daughter's wedding.
We're sorry we couldn't get your purse back.
Did they get much? Ordinarily, they would have had meager pickings.
But today I was carrying my daughter's wedding gift.
A gold bracelet with two hearts intertwined.
Oh, what a shame.
Oh, well, at least I'll make the wedding, thanks to you.
I will be ever grateful.
Robber Baron Karnor.
Yeah.
How about having a quick peek at that tower of his? Doesn't look as if anyone's been in or out of here in quite a while.
Hello? No answer.
Look.
This lock is all rusted.
I'll bet I can force it.
You're making too much noise.
There's gotta be some other way in.
No, I don't see any- Wilykat! Where did you go? Come on, now, Wilykat.
This is no time for practical jokes.
There's no place Wilykat could be hiding.
No place.
Come on in, Snarf.
The water's great.
You'll love it.
I can hardly stand looking at water.
As for dunking myself in it Snarf! I've got a cramp! Save me! Don't panic, Lion-O.
Snarf's coming for you.
See? I told you you'd love it.
You scared me like that for nothing? I did my best to raise you right, Lion-O, but let's face it you've got a mean streak in you.
Come on, Snarf.
I was only fooling.
Where did I go wrong? I didn't mean to scare him.
I guess a joke doesn't seem all that funny when the joke's on you.
I'll have to remember that.
The Eye of Thundera.
Danger! Sword of Omens, give me sight beyond sight.
Wilykat.
Where are you? Wilykat! It's Kit.
And Wilykat must be in trouble.
Bad trouble if she's so upset.
That tower.
It's the one I saw through the Eyes of the Sword.
Lion-O! Lion-O! It's Wilykat.
He's disappeared.
Where was he when you last saw him, Kit? Right here, Lion-O.
But where was he standing exactly? Well, he was standing right on this spot, trying to force this rusty old lock.
Like this? Where are we? Wherever it is, at least we now know where Wilykat got to.
And he must still be here someplace.
Wilykat! Can you hear us? Lion-O! Kit! I'm here! He hears us, Lion-O.
He's alive.
Wilykat! Where are you? Way up at the top of the tower! Can you follow the sound of our voices and come to where we are? Can't! I'm in some sort of cage.
He's a prisoner.
We'll find you then, Kat.
Stay calm.
Lion-O, look.
Leading upwards.
And up is where we want to go.
So- What-? These steps, like rubber.
Yuck.
And these steps are sticky.
Hang on, Kit.
I'll try to get you loose.
Another crazy step.
I can't get a foothold.
All right, Kit.
I have a solid grip.
Grab my leg and try to pull yourself up.
I'm free, Lion-O.
Good.
Now hang on while I pull us up to the landing.
By Thundera! Oh, gee, Lion-O.
Are we gonna have to go through all that again? Not if I can help it.
Climb onto my back and hold tight, Kit.
- We made it.
- Barely.
What kind of place is this? And who does it belong to? It's the tower of Karnor a robber baron who's been looting the countryside for years and years.
He probably set these traps to keep other robbers from getting at his loot.
Look, Lion-O.
Two ramps.
Which one should we take? What the-? Look out! Well, that solves the question of which ramp we take.
Off you go, Wilykit.
Good luck.
You too, Lion-O Looks like a ceremonial chamber of some kind.
You said a mouthful, gruesome.
The tower divides here for some reason.
Kind of a narrow ramp to cross.
No big deal for a Thundercat, though.
This place is a regular fun house.
Only the robber baron left the fun out of it.
What's happening? No more tricks? Acid.
Even so, our invisible baron didn't try hard enough on this trap.
That's no way an impossible jump.
That was too close.
The gap is closing, and fast.
I underestimated you, baron.
It won't happen again.
There will be a reckoning when we finally meet, Baron Karnor.
I'm looking forward to it.
This room looks innocent enough.
A little too innocent.
Let's see.
I'm getting to know you, baron.
Nothing sneaky about the baron's trap this time.
Wilykat, I wouldn't ask you to do this for me.
But you'd do it without my asking.
So here goes nothing.
- Lion-O.
- Are you hurt, Kit? I don't think so.
The tower doesn't go much higher.
Wilykat has to be around here somewhere.
Wilykat! Can you still hear us? Your voices are much closer.
Very close.
He's right above us.
Where are you, Wilykat? Here, Lion-O.
- "Here"? Where? - Up here.
Did Baron Karnor do this to you? I haven't seen anyone, Lion-O.
This cage suddenly came down on top of me and the next thing I knew, I was a chandelier.
When the cage hits the floor, jump, Wilykat.
Oh, Wilykat.
I was so- Well, you see where your curiosity got you? And us? Yeah, yeah, okay.
Can we get out of this place now? Not until I have it out with our tormentor.
All of his traps led here.
So this must be his treasure chamber.
Enter.
The fun's over, baron.
Now we get serious.
You are Baron Karnor.
Are you not? Why doesn't he answer? Yeah.
He told us to enter.
Kit, light that lamp and bring it here.
Lion-O, he isn't alive.
No.
And he hasn't been for a long time.
Looks like he still couldn't bear to be parted from his treasure, though.
And he set all those traps to make sure no one else could get it either.
Remember Jaga saying, "It's wise to save your money and to spend it carefully, but greed can destroy you.
" Yeah.
Jaga must've had this guy in mind.
But if the baron hasn't been robbing everybody all these years, who has? Those guys we chased off ran to this place.
Where are they? Yeah.
And who told us to enter? Enter.
Enter.
Enter A recording.
The baron's final trap.
Oh, wow, Lion-O.
How do we get out of this one? It's a gold bracelet.
And look.
Two hearts intertwined.
It's the wedding gift that was stolen from the Wolo traveler.
The thieves are up there.
It's also our way out.
Quick.
Tie some of these cloaks and robes together.
You two go up first.
My weight might loosen it.
There's nothing up here, Lion-O.
Just a bunch of gargoyles.
No sign of the thieves anywhere, Lion-O.
What the-? Thunder, thunder, thunder.
Thundercats, ho! That tower.
The Thundercat signal is directly above it.
And it looks like someone messing around up top.
Faster, Panthro.
The grapple guns, Panthro.
Grapples.
The Thundercats are here.
What kind of-? Heavy.
What's this guy made of? What was that all about, Lion-O? What were they? Tell you, soon as I catch my breath.
So Baron Karnor brought the gargoyles to life to do his robbing for him? And they kept stealing even after he was gone.
Then the baron was a magician as well as a bandit.
Always a bad combination.
Oh, look.
The Wolo wedding.
Wait here a minute.
Come on, Wilykat.
Oh, my.
My young saviors.
Welcome, friends.
No bride should be without her wedding present on her wedding day.
- From your father.
- Oh, Papa.
Lion-O.
You're safe.
Oh, sure.
I'm fine.
And listen, Snarf.
I'm sorry I pulled that dirty trick on you before.
That's okay.
I know it's a pain having your elders worrying about you all the time.
But it's only because we care about you.
Heck, you'll understand someday.
I understand now, Snarf.
Because I worry about you, and for the same reason.
