Ten Days in the Valley (2017) s01e10 Episode Script

Day 10: Fade Out

1 JANE: "Once upon a time," right? That's how it starts? And then you've got "happily ever after.
" You begin with a promise, and you end with a lie.
Everything in the middle, everything else, you just make it up, right? In 2, 3, hold.
Anyway, so, once upon a time, there was a woman.
She worked hard, did the right thing except when she didn't.
[SCOFFS.]
She never needed a husband or a kid, never needed anyone.
God, everyone must want to marry you.
- I don't have a husband.
- Great.
Just give me 10 minutes to, uh, change your mind.
JANE: The woman turns 40 interesting maybe, maybe not.
Well, in this case, it's mildly interesting 'cause the woman gets pregnant.
It's a miracle, right? She never even thought about it, never [SIGHS.]
been careful.
She's never been pregnant before.
Then bang.
All of a sudden she cares.
[BABY CRYING LOUDLY.]
Oh, my God, this is torture.
- Do we really have to do this? - Yes.
What if this is really screwing her up? Everybody grows up a little damaged, don't they? What's the matter with you?! Great example for your daughter "Geriatric pregnancy, high-risk pregnancy.
" All these words, all these scary, scary words, and, all of a sudden, the only thing that matters is keeping that child safe.
Mama! He was there.
I saw him.
[OMINOUS MUSIC PLAYS.]
We need to get that kid out of here by today.
I have to take you in.
It's everything.
It's primal.
But it doesn't change who you are.
You tell stories, making stuff up to protect the people you love.
ALI: [VOICE BREAKING.]
I know why you lied about Tom.
You and Tom plus nine months! [SOBS.]
You lie.
And you lie again.
That's what we do.
We're taught to do it, and then we keep on doing it.
[OMINOUS MUSIC PLAYS.]
I tried to teach my kid how to lie today.
Out of all the mistakes I've ever made, that was the worst.
NICKOLE: What do you mean? She s-said she heard someone at the station.
I tried to talk her out of it, tried to get her to say she hadn't heard it.
- Why? - B-Because I'm terrified.
Hmm.
Every bad decision I've ever made, I made out of fear fear of poverty, fear of loss.
Point is, you can't let fear drive you.
You know that, right? Even just for your kid's sake.
[BREATHING HEAVILY.]
[TIRES SQUEAL.]
[RINGTONE PLAYS.]
BIRD: Tell me that you got somethin' for me, Bilson.
Russell Howell.
Moved out six months ago, no forwarding address.
No priors.
No priors but he's flagged domestic.
What'd you give her? Chloroform.
- Got more? - Go easy.
It's not good for her.
Like any of this is good for her.
Just keep her safe, all right? Yeah.
Watching you how much you care, how far you'll go for your kid even when you're dead wrong I don't know.
Gives me hope for people for humans.
[BREATHING HEAVILY.]
You're home early.
Hey.
I got to go back in.
Just gonna grab a quick shower.
- You all right? - Yeah.
I'm all good.
Ohh.
Not that good, apparently.
I'm just gonna have one.
You were doing so well.
Cold turkey for like a year now.
It's fine.
I'll take it outside.
Okay, "Red.
" Whatever gets you through the night.
Jane, I want to help you, okay? I don't want to arrest you.
If you ran with your kid, you must have a pretty good reason, but until I know what that is, there's nothing I can do for you.
[SIGHS.]
She recognized someone a police officer.
She said she'd seen that person at the cabin.
Jane, little kids get these details wrong all the time.
She'd been drugged, she was in distress.
- Not my kid.
- Okay.
But honestly, this sounds like paranoia, pure and simple.
What's crazy is the idea that my kid is gonna have to live in the shadow of my fear - after everything she's been through.
- I get it.
- I do.
- [SIREN WAILS.]
I That's why I left Narcotics.
I couldn't tell anymore who was good, who was bad.
You worked Narcotics? - For a while.
- You know Quinn O'Farrell? The guy who killed himself? Nah, we never really crossed paths.
[SIGHS.]
[INDISTINCT CONVERSATION.]
I'll get us there.
[SUSPENSEFUL MUSIC PLAYS.]
Do you believe in God? I don't know.
Maybe.
I wish I did.
Why? Something you just said.
[HORN HONKS IN DISTANCE.]
"Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for Thou art with me; Thy rod and Thy staff they comfort me.
" [BREATHING HEAVILY.]
- How we doin'? - NICKOLE: The kid's planted.
- It's a go.
- Good.
NICKOLE: I can never remember the next part something about "My cup runneth over.
" But I always remember this next bit.
"Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.
" Yeah, that's the happy-ending part.
Yeah.
[CHUCKLES.]
I guess it is.
[BRAKES SQUEAL.]
I need to get smokes.
I'm I'm out.
- I didn't know you smoked.
- It's a secret.
I'll take these off, but I'm gonna have to lock the car.
[SIGHS.]
Thanks.
[CELLPHONE BUZZING.]
You go into these situations hoping for a peaceful resolution, but Gus Tremblay had a different idea in mind.
And that's a pretty tough blow for the force to take.
We didn't see how troubled he was.
We couldn't catch it in time.
[RINGING.]
[FOOTSTEPS APPROACH.]
[CAR DOOR OPENS.]
[CAR DOOR CLOSES.]
[ENGINE STARTS.]
Uh, this is North.
I-I don't think we want to go this way.
I want to show you something before I take you in.
- Snowflake, spot it.
- Aw.
- Bozo, spot it.
- Oh, you guys are killing me.
I can't even tell Wait.
What is that? - A phantom.
- It's a phantom? There you go, girls dessert before lunch, just like I promised.
GRACE: Thank you, Mr.
Greene.
Gracie, come on.
Call me Pete.
- Beer, Mr.
Greene? - [RINGING.]
Uh, Lord Greene to you.
- Bird here.
- Detective, hi.
It's Ali.
- Have you seen Jane yet? - No.
Why? Is she here? Yeah, your partner's bringing her in.
I can't get ahold of her.
Nickole? Why? She arrested her for child abduction.
- Can't make this stuff up.
- When? Almost two hours ago now.
Okay, I'll find Jane, - I'll get her to call you back.
- Thank you so much.
TOM: Oh, wait a minute.
I know what that is right there.
That That's the, uh the tickle monster, I think, is what that is.
[GIGGLING.]
Look at her, like she hasn't just been through hell.
- [LAUGHING.]
No! Stop, stop! Stop! - Well, she's an amazing kid.
What's happening with Jane? Bird is checking on her.
Right, giving her the kid-glove treatment, no doubt, letting her sweet-talk her way out of her latest lapse in judgement.
I-I-I've seen the way he looks at her, Ali.
It's Pete, come on.
We're here together.
We're in Jane's house.
- Not for long.
- LAKE: Pencil, spot it.
- TOM: All right.
- You gonna grill those? Yes, I am.
Lake doesn't like it like that.
Snowflake, spot it.
She likes it just fine, Ali.
TOM: Oh, wow.
And YOLO! Spot it.
Come on, give it up for the old guy.
Yeah.
[LAUGHS.]
Mm.
[SMOOCHES.]
Am I picking it up? Am I terrible still? - You're probably right.
- NICKOLE: About what? Um, Lake being stressed out, drugged.
I-I just wanted to hear her out, you know, honor what she was saying, but you're right.
It just just probably sounds crazy.
[RINGTONE PLAYING.]
Uh, my mother never believed me about anything ever.
I'd tell her my eyes were brown, and she'd tell me I was a liar.
I-I just I didn't want to do that to Lake, you know? Yeah.
Sure.
I get it.
Where are we going? Close.
We're almost there.
Well, y-you know what? You don't need to take me anywhere.
Just Just Just take me to the, uh - [RINGTONE PLAYING.]
- You're upset.
I just wanted to calm you down.
Hey.
When did Nickole transfer over from Narcotics? Uh I don't know.
A year and a half ago? Gomez brought her in.
Why? Uh, no reason.
She's not answering her phone.
- You heard from her? - o, I just got back from Sadler's house, trying to finish up your report.
Just check her tracking system, see where she's at.
W-Why? What's going on? Just bring it up now.
[KEYBOARD CLACKING.]
She's headed west on Kanan.
Why's she going west? You know what? I always say that, and then she gets there faster than me.
Listen, just keep tracking her.
You call me if she so much as changes lanes.
PETE: Wow.
I cannot believe your mom doesn't have a tea set here.
Gracie, wait till you see the one she has at my place.
You're gonna feel like the queen of England.
Detective Bilson.
It's Ali Petrovich again.
I would really appreciate it if you call me back.
- Nothin'? - Nothin'.
It should not be this hard.
It wouldn't be your sister if it wasn't a little hard.
Wow.
I'm sure that made great copy.
[METAL SCRAPES.]
Okay, that wasn't nice.
And I'm sorry.
You want to go get the burgers outside? Okay.
GRACE: Tom, spot it! LAKE: Table, spot it! - [LAUGHS.]
- [DOOR OPENS.]
Listen, Lakey's gonna get tired.
She needs a solid meal and needs a good night's sleep.
Yeah, I'll put her to bed straight after dinner.
Ali, I'm taking her home.
This is her home.
Not anymore.
Pete, come on.
We don't know what Jane knows.
There is probably a very good reason for this.
Actually, Ali, I don't care.
First thing tomorrow morning, I'm filing for sole custody.
What? My daughter needs stability.
No, your daughter needs her mother.
She doesn't some bitter man-child who just fell off the wagon not two days ago.
Must be easy to take that tone when you're so squeaky-clean.
TOM: Amazing burger, spot it.
[CHUCKLES NERVOUSLY.]
- Guys? Everything okay? - [DOORBELL RINGS.]
I'll get it.
Thank you.
[BIRDS CHIRPING.]
Hmm.
[DOG BARKING IN DISTANCE.]
[PAPER RUSTLING.]
[BUTTON CLICKS.]
[TAPE WHIRRING.]
This is, uh, Quinn O'Farrell, born August 6, 1968, Fresno, California.
Gus, uh, it's me.
I'm making this tape in case something bad happens.
You know I've done some terrible stuff, and if I go down for it, I-I probably deserve it, but still, I'm not gonna go without leaving an account.
[BIRD SQUAWKS.]
This is it.
We're here.
Get out of the car.
Come on, you're being ridiculous.
Seriously.
It's amazing, isn't it? No matter what's going on, no matter how messed up I get, it still always does it for me.
Used to come up here with Quinn drink beer, blow off steam.
I did it, Jane.
I'm Red.
What? I took Lake.
I took her from that house in Topanga.
I mean, you know.
Don't you? I thought so.
So what? You have nothing to say about that? No, I don't.
Lake's back.
That's all I care about.
Really? Yeah.
[GRUNTS.]
Haven't you fantasized about this, facing down your tormentor, bashing her face in? No.
No.
Lake's okay, and and that - that's all I care about.
- Is she? I covered your little girl's face with chloroform.
I locked her up in an empty house full of rats.
I fed her food from the garbage.
I drugged her, and I put her in Gus' trunk.
And now he's dead for what I did.
Come on, Jane! Here I am.
- [GRUNTS.]
- I'm the monster! So hit me, you entitled bitch! [GRUNTS.]
[GRUNTS.]
[BOTH GRUNTING.]
[GRUNTS.]
Thank you for that.
[BREATHING HEAVILY.]
I deserve it.
And I need it.
I took you for a drive to talk.
Stupidly, I let you out of the car.
You attacked me.
I'm sorry but I had no choice.
[GRUNTS.]
[GRUNTS.]
[GRUNTS.]
[BRAKES SQUEAL.]
- [DOOR OPENS.]
- Bird? What are you doing? Show me your hands, Bilson.
[CHUCKLES NERVOUSLY.]
Hey, it's it's me.
What's going on? Sadler, get out of the car.
She's not here.
I-I don't have her.
Where is she? I don't know.
I let her go in K-Town.
I drove up here to take a breath, get some air.
It's been a long week.
[LAUGHS.]
Okay.
This is ridiculous.
I'm gonna go to my car now, all right? You want to follow me down? You stay right here.
[GRUNTS.]
Easy! You ain't going nowhere.
[GRUNTS.]
[JONI MITCHELL'S "CALIFORNIA" PLAYS.]
[WOMAN LAUGHS.]
Maggie and Milly and Molly and May went down to the beach to play one day.
Sittin' in a park in Paris, France - Want to go for a swim? - Reading the news, and it sure looks bad And Maggie discovered a shell that sang so sweetly, she couldn't remember her troubles.
[CRYING.]
[LAUGHS.]
But I would not stay here It's too old and cold and settled in its way here - [DOOR OPENS.]
- BILLY: Jane? Oh, but California - Just came to check in on ya.
- California Your mom's worried.
You good? Yeah.
Yeah.
- I-I want to go back.
- Whew! - Don't be silly.
It'll be fun.
- And Milly befriended a stranded star whose rays five languid fingers were.
And Molly was chased by a horrible thing which raced sideways while blowing bubbles.
Billy, get off me! Get off! - I'm gonna tell my mom! - Go ahead.
She won't believe you.
Oh, California California JANE: And May came home with a smooth, round stone [GASPING, COUGHING.]
as small as a world and as large as alone.
Will you take me as I am Strung out on another man [LAUGHING.]
Oh! Janey, what happened? I couldn't breathe.
It's fine.
You're fine.
Don't exaggerate.
Mom, I'm not! He dropped me.
Of course he didn't.
He loves you.
Why do you always have to go and make up such terrible stories? BILLY: She won't believe you.
- [GRUNTING.]
- Talk to me about Rosa Garcia.
You put a bullet in her head.
Why? I don't know what you're talking about.
She was a key witness in the Medina trial.
Who ordered her dead? Christopher Gomez bought her a bracelet.
Were they having an affair? [LAUGHS.]
That's just like you, Bird.
You think this comes down to love, broken hearts? Then what? Lies.
She lied on the stand? That's what Christopher Gomez paid for, false testimony? That conviction launched his damn career.
This is a whole lot bigger than her.
You know that, right? Is Commander Gomez involved? We can protect you.
Who's "we"? Have you even been paying attention? Can only help you if I understand.
Why did Gomez come to you? Me and Quinn had our thing busting up gambling houses, taking drug money.
That's all it was.
And? Gomez found out.
He could've turn me in, but he didn't.
Instead, he had you do all his dirty work his own personal hit man.
We're soldiers, Bird.
- We do as we're told.
- Don't bother trying No, no! Just Give me five minutes alone and leave me my gun.
[CRIES.]
Please, it'll be over.
You can still talk.
You can make a deal.
You know what he'll do to me, what he'll do to my wife? [SNIFFLES.]
No.
I will never testify against him, no matter what.
Just turn around.
Arms up.
Come on.
[CAR ALARM CHIRPS.]
Hey, Buddy.
I'm gonna need your help.
Sadler! Sadler! Are you here? Sadler! [BREATHING HEAVILY.]
Hey, Jane.
Look at me.
[SIGHS.]
It's okay.
You're safe now.
You're all right.
[GRUNTS.]
[GROANS SOFTLY.]
CHRISTOPHER: I wanted to thank you.
For what? First polls are in nine points ahead.
Much better than I could've hoped for.
Boosted by your heroics, no doubt.
Well, let's drink to that.
[LAUGHS.]
[BOTTLE THUDS.]
To my heroics.
- You tell Mom? - Are you kidding? She made me break down the numbers by district.
She's tracking my campaign closer than my publicist.
[CHUCKLES.]
You got to love her.
- Is this something I should read? - No.
Hey, I don't want to be surprised when it's on TV.
Okay.
I'll summarize.
Gus Tremblay was a rogue cop.
Doesn't look good on any of us, but it happens, and he's gone.
It'll blow over.
- Red had orders from above.
- [DOOR OPENS.]
Your burger's cold.
- The order to hit that casita - Hey, just - came from Commander Gomez - just listen to this.
[TAPE REWINDING.]
[BUTTON CLICKS.]
The order to hit that casita came from Commander Gomez himself.
Gomez figured out what we'd been up to, going back to the beginning.
- He'd He'd known about it for awhile.
- I'm just trying to help.
By, what, going through my sister's mail, taking notes? But are are you even listening to this? This This is a firsthand account of the lick crew that operated within Narcotics, the casita raid everything that Jane's been chasing for the last year.
- [BUTTON CLICKS.]
- Good.
Let's take it to the police.
This is detailed evidence of corruption within the LAPD.
You want me to take it to the LAPD.
- Really? What's your suggestion? - Bring it to the press.
[SIGHS.]
Gosh.
If we only knew an available writer who could get the story out quickly.
This This story is huge, and I have an ethical responsibility to tell it, okay? And I happen to be deeper in it than any other reporter could possibly get.
Yeah, because you are exploiting your family.
No, I'm just drawing from experience.
That's what good reporters do.
Being close to Jane doesn't make you a good reporter.
No, you are not using this.
- I'm taking it to Bird.
- Ali.
Ali, this story gets me my next four jobs, a staff position, maybe even a book, okay? And I we need something to go our way.
Stop.
You cannot pretend that this whole comeback story is for us.
Clearly, it's not.
If that was what mattered, you would drop it if not for me, Tom, for Lake.
She's 8 years old.
She's in 2nd grade.
This whole thing has been bad enough.
God, please, do not put her on the front page of the L.
A.
Times.
This story needs to be told, Al.
I mean, I can't force you to put your family first.
If you want to be the saviour, the truth-teller, then go ahead and write whatever you want, but I will not be there when it's over.
[DOOR CLOSES.]
[SIGHS.]
Just about finished here.
- I'll give you a minute.
- BIRD: Thanks.
Listen.
We'll get Bilson for attempted murder for what she did to you.
That'll stick.
Buddy's driving her in now.
- I'm gonna head over.
- JANE: Wait.
What about the rest of it? I mean, is she gonna turn on Gomez? She's terrified, locked in, trying to be a good soldier.
- She'll never testify against him.
- What Oh, my God.
Are you okay? - How'd you know I was here? - I called her.
Thanks so much for coming, Al.
Yeah, I, uh, brought you clothes and stuff.
Listen, I'll be back, okay? No, no, wait.
Um, something came in the mail today.
So I think it must be that guy, Quinn, because he's talking about the shooting at the casita.
And he says Red had direct orders from Gomez.
[SIGHS.]
Well, that's it.
I mean, we've got him, right? Not really.
[SIGHS.]
We got a dirty cop who won't talk and a suicidal drunk rambling into an audiotape.
Look, these are two of the most powerful men in the city, and they've shown what they're prepared to do to protect each other.
So what are we gonna do? Well, you could walk.
Look, you're safe.
Lake's safe.
- Maybe that's enough.
- [VOICE BREAKING.]
She's not safe! She saw Gomez at the cabin, and I told Nickole.
She's gonna walk around the rest of her life - with a target on her back.
- Okay, okay.
[SIGHS.]
Maybe there's another way.
We're talking about the Gomez brothers, right? Yeah.
Well, with guys like that, there's only one thing that trumps family.
Ambition.
- [BOTH LAUGHING.]
- LAKE: Wait! Wait up! PETE: Hey, whoa, whoa, whoa! Girls, girls, girls.
We got to wrap it up.
Gracie, I'm gonna call your mom, okay, sweetie? Lake, we're gonna go to my place.
Your place? Yeah, you're gonna come stay with me for a little while.
But don't worry.
We can organize a play date with you and Grace very soon.
What about Mama? Mom's just got a lot on her plate right now, so, uh, we're gonna give her a little space.
- GRACE: Come on.
- Okay.
[BOTH LAUGH.]
Pete, can I talk to you? Uh, we're just packing up, so we're gonna take off.
It's important.
[CRICKETS CHIRPING.]
[DOOR CLOSES.]
What? What do you want? [SIGHS.]
You're not taking Lake.
It's none of your business, Al.
She's staying here.
This is her home.
It's what's best for her.
- Lakey! - LAKE: Yeah, Dad? Finish packing, honey.
We're leaving.
Pete, you haven't worked in months.
You're broke.
You can't even afford it.
And when you do work, - you're out of town all the time.
- So I'll get a job here.
I-I-I'll drive an Uber.
I'll work at Starbucks.
I don't care, Ali.
I just want to be with her.
No, Pete, you're not even her father.
[VOICE BREAKING.]
I'm I'm sorry.
I'm so sorry.
I I'm not trying to be harsh.
I'm just telling you the truth.
This is ridiculous, Ali.
This is ridiculous.
You want to take a test, let's go right now.
You want full custody, let's take all the tests paternity test, sobriety test, psychological assessment.
Let's burn it all down.
Let the lawyers sift through the ashes.
So, in your story, who is the father? [SIGHS.]
My husband.
Tom? Apparently, they were a thing.
It was before you met.
It was before we met.
Come on.
Part of you must have known.
She was two months early, remember? It was a miracle.
She was eight pounds.
[VOICE BREAKING.]
No.
This is Jane.
- Jane will say anything.
- She didn't want me to tell you.
- She's gonna kill me for telling you.
- No.
She's my kid.
[BREATHES SHAKILY.]
I raised her, Ali.
I raised her.
I love that little girl more than anything in this world.
[SIGHS.]
I don't care what a blood test says.
Nobody can tell me that she's not my daughter.
Fine, then let's settle this like grown-ups.
I will never tell anyone, not even Tom.
And from now on, you are her father.
And in exchange? Joint custody.
You never go for more.
She stays here tonight.
We never speak of this again.
[DOOR CREAKS.]
[SNIFFLES.]
[CRYING.]
[CRICKETS CHIRPING.]
[SIGHS.]
[KNOCK ON DOOR.]
Hi, uh, can I help you? I'm I'm sorry.
Um I'm looking for Elliot Gomez.
Is that your dad? Yeah.
Dad! GOMEZ: Yeah? There's someone at the door looking for you.
Why don't you guys start putting the dishes away, okay? I'll be a minute.
[DOOR CREAKS.]
What are you doing here? I didn't know you had kids.
I do.
I have three three boys.
What are you doing here? Is everything okay? Is your wife home? No.
She died two years ago.
Okay.
Ms.
Sadler, I'm in the middle of dinner.
Um, look.
I know all about lies, okay, how they start and how they grow.
I-I know that you've been lying.
Rosita Gonzalez, 27 years old.
Paid off by your brother to lie on the stand.
But sh-she wanted more, so you had to get rid of her.
You buried it.
You blamed it on a casita raid, but the truth kept leaking out.
I was leaking it without even knowing.
So you had to find a new story, right? Gus Tremblay, loudmouth cop, screwing a TV writer.
- Bragging about his crimes to - Okay, listen to me, listen to me.
I am very sorry for everything that's happened to you.
I am.
The abuse, the trauma, the neglect as a child, as an adult, it does something to the brain.
- I know.
I get it.
- No, no, no, no, no.
You're listening to me now! You had Nickole take Lake and blame it on Gus.
And then you killed him.
DANIEL: Dad, Josh ate your cake! - CHRISTOPHER: Oh, come on! He did not! - Yes, he did! Okay.
I-I got to go deal with my kids, so can I call you a car? I'll go to the press.
And tell them what, hmm? That a cokehead TV writer got her daughter kidnapped - and got her boyfriend killed? - If that's what it takes.
Either way, your brother's going down.
What do you want? You took my daughter.
[MENACINGLY.]
What do you want? I want you just you.
You have a good night.
BIRD: Can I play you something first? What are you doing, John? Go home.
Red had orders from above.
The order to hit that casita came from Commander Gomez himself.
Quinn O'Farrell was a burnt-out ex-cop with an ax to grind, John.
You know that.
Connects you to the lick crew.
And Bilson's already in custody.
Yeah, well, Bilson knows how to keep her mouth shut.
Wait.
I go down for busting up casitas and my brother stays clean Is that what you're offering? What about the kidnapping? We'll tell your lie.
Gus did it.
I want you to listen real close to me, you arrogant bitch.
You do not set terms, not to me.
You're calling me arrogant? That's funny.
You do not tell me what to do.
Ever.
Think about your badge now, John.
And what about little Lakey, huh? [BREATHES DEEPLY.]
What about her safety, your safety? I'm not taking your deal.
You don't have to.
He already did.
I didn't know he had kids.
You did fine.
[SIGHS.]
He made me feel crazy.
You're not crazy.
Take the hit, Elliot.
I'll lose my badge.
I'll serve time.
And if we're lucky, that's as far as it'll go.
God, I didn't ask you to kill anyone.
No, no, no, no, no.
Don't you dare.
Don't you dare.
I cleaned up your mess to keep you golden.
You fight this, and we both go down and not just us every case I've ever prosecuted, every criminal you've ever arrested.
[BREATHING SHAKILY.]
[VOICE BREAKING.]
They got us, Elliot.
I will watch your boys.
I will take care of them.
- [CAR DOORS CLOSING.]
- Elliot Gomez, you're under arrest for criminal conspiracy and public corruption.
Aw, John, you're gonna regret this.
