Thank you so much for driving up again.
I swear I'm gonna come to New
York at some point. I swear.
Your birthday's soon, right?
Yeah, March 26.
Let's do a weekend
in the city to celebrate.
March in Manhattan is much nicer
than March up here
in the Great White North.
Mm, Great white North begs to differ.
You ever been spring skiing?
There's nothing like hitting the
slopes in shorts and a T-shirt.
Assuming there are slopes to hit.
This warm weather keeps up,
there won't be snow much longer.
Guys, guys, guys, they're
coming. Shh, shh, shh, shh, shh.
Okay, get ready.
blue lightsabers, and green
ones. Are there purple ones?
Yeah.
Oh, they look so sorry.
I can't believe I married into this.
Oh.
I might need
to rewrite my wedding vows.
"'Till death or Fraidy Cat
do us part."
Yup.
You are excellent
collateral damage, Adam.
Happy to oblige,
but this collateral damage needs
to change his pants,
'cause he's got some soda
dripping down his ass.
Sorry about my friends.
Okay. To the victors go the
spoils. Pay up, Mrs. Dearborn.
You know what?
You've earned it.

Please tell me these aren't my dad's.
Why are they rainbow-colored?
Why are they here?
I couldn't send 'em to my house.
My sister might've found 'em.
Oh, so I get to find them instead.
Look, they were supposed
to come in tomorrow
when I'm on box duty, okay?
So are you and Bella planning
on using those anytime soon?
Unsubscribe.
I mean, her dad's out of town, right?
You guys have the whole
Whitmore Estate to yourselves.
What color are you gonna go with
for the big first time?
You know, blue might be nice.
It's calming and relaxing.
I'm walking away, okay?
You get lost under the sheets,
you always find your way back out.
So is everything running
on schedule with the mines?
Well, the blizzard
set us back a few days,
but we should start getting
coltan out of the ground
by the end of the month.
Danny. There you are.
Sarah, this is Keith Anderson.
He's, uh, Lydon's
director of operations.
He's in town for a site visit.
Keith, Sarah.
Not as nice as it is to meet you.
Danny, I looked over the work
you did on the Walsh deal.
You took a sticky situation
and unstuck it.
You keep that up,
you'll be president of Lydon someday.
Two President Coopers.
He's chipper.
You should catch him on a good day.
So, how are you doing
with, like you?
Ending things with Piper, uh,
breaking off the engagement
was the right thing to do, but
Piper's an amazing woman,
but I can't marry her if
I'm in love with someone else.
Speaking of that someone else
Don't worry. I haven't
talked to her.
Not since she asked me not to.
It hurts seeing her so happy with Adam,
but that's my problem, not Corinne's.
You'll get over her, Danny.
It will take time,
but you will eventually.
Some days, I don't even know
who I am anymore.
It's like
since my wife died,
all the things that made me
me just died with her.
And what things were those?
I was a husband,
I was a a best friend.
I was a partner,
I was a protector.
But you can't be those things again?
Doesn't feel like it.
Right now, it-it
it just feels like I'm nothing.
A huge part of your identity
was tied to another person.
And that's okay.
But your marriage didn't create
those things in you, Grover.
It only amplified them.
They're still there.
You just need
to let yourself access them.
How do
how do I that?
You find things
that make you happy, and lean in.
What if nothing makes me happy?
Then you keep looking until
you find something,
and you will, Grover.
It may take time, but you will.
I promise.
Um, do you-do you need help?
No, no. It's One second. I
Um, maybe if I
Maybe we should we should stop.
- Yeah.
- Yeah.

I want this.
Yeah. Me, too.
I-I really want this.
Me, too.
I just
Me, too.

I can't believe we're eating ice cream.
No, because it's warm enough outside
that I want to be eating ice cream.
Three days last week we had
the highest winter temperatures
in a hundred years.
Greylock might have
escaped New Hampshire,
but climate change is
a different story.
Hey, breakfast of champions there, huh?
Yeah, yeah.
Give me butterscotch
or give me death.
Well, come and join Danny and me
for our weekly Cooper coffee date
and I'll give you anything.
Oh, no thanks, I have a date.
Of course.
Here, have a little sugar
with your sugar.
Sarah's allergic, Dad.
Give her cranberries
and give her death.
When did that happen?
Um, third grade.
We had a a class field trip
to the cranberry bog.
It was a very dramatic afternoon.
Okay, let's, uh
let's go grab a table.
Catch you later.
You okay?
Yeah.
Just basking in the joys
of my own father
knowing nothing about me.
He could at least do some homework.
Put in a little effort to catch up on
the two decades that he's lost.
Paul Cooper effort has kind of
always been in short supply.
Mm, whatever.
How's Adam?
Good.
Good. Ever since
the paternity test,
I mean, like, knowing that
Adam is Josh's real father,
I-I feel like my head's
finally screwed on right.
I still struggle with the guilt
of my night with Danny,
but I finally feel
like myself again.
Oh
Mr. Dearborn, we were
just talking about you.
We're in serious trouble.
Adam Dearborn just called me
with an update
from the National Weather Service.
We don't have a weather service.
Well, that's part of the problem.
Thank God Adam still has friends
in the American one.
Hold on a sec.
Shouldn't we wait for Liz?
She's still on vacation
in Japan; I left her a message.
Here's the deal. Two weeks ago,
the whole northeast
was hit with the worst blizzard
in a hundred years.
Since then, we've had
a bunch of days in a row
of record-high temperatures.
Means all that snow is melting.
Yeah. And fast.
Adam works for our forest service, but
he has some experience in
hydrology, he ran the numbers.
All of that runoff is gonna
swell the Woonsock River
way beyond its banks.
You're talking about a flood.
In winter?
But there's still snow on the ground.
You can't have a flood in winter.
You can. And it's the last time
of year you would want to.
Ice chunks blowing
through dams and levees
like frozen torpedoes.
Water so cold you get hypothermia
just by looking at it.
And even if the air temperature
falls back down
to normal winter numbers,
the water's already moving
too fast to freeze.
So neighborhoods bordering the river
are in the most danger,
along with low points
here and here.
How much danger?
In 24 hours, most of Greylock
will be under water.
Gail, we need help.
Thank God you picked up.
The northeast corner of my state
is about to get clobbered by flooding.
I know, that's why I'm calling.
Greylock is in the same boat.
Pun intended, I assume.
We don't have a National Guard
or a FEMA to come bail us out.
I can't just call the Oval Office
and ask the president for aid.
Well, you could, but he'd
probably laugh in your face.
No, I-I mean I literally can't.
I don't have the number.
I can't get past
the White House switchboard.
Another delightful consequence
of not being officially recognized.
My resources are already
spread dangerously thin.
I have to keep my people safe.
So do I, Gail.
But I can't do that without your help.
Come on, from one leader
to another, please.
Look, Sarah, you and I have
had our differences,
but I'm no monster.
I'll send whatever I can spare.
How's that?
Thank you, Gail.
Okay, I know the snow is melting
on her side, too, but damn,
12 trainees. That's all
the governor could spare?
We've got about 19 hours
before Greylock becomes
a water park, and we have
two blow-up donuts
and a sale at the Army/Navy store?
What we need is someone
who knows how to organize
large-scale disaster relief.
So where do we find that somebody?
You know we don't have to knock, right?
This is our house.
Yeah.
Today is hard enough without having to
walk in on him in his underwear. Mm.
Hey, what? You guys
don't have to knock.
It's your house.
Okay, so in 18 hours, our house
is gonna be under water,
as well as the rest of Greylock.
We need your help to make sure
that doesn't happen.
You worked in the Bureau
of Overseas Buildings Operations
while you were at the State Department.
You faced natural disasters
all over the world.
Just understand that
I was a contractor,
not a first responder.
What you are is the only person
in Greylock with the experience
to fight this flood.
It's the only way to save the town.
Okay, well, let's make a plan.
We have a plan. We're facing
a dangerous winter flood,
but we have a plan.
Step one is to evacuate
all at-risk citizens
to higher ground.
So this means young children,
the elderly, anyone with
mobility difficulties.
The Wrights Mountain
Observatory is open
if anyone needs a safe place to stay.
Volunteers there will have food,
water and medical supplies.
Everyone else will handle
step two, property protection.
We're gonna focus our efforts
on the South and West Basins,
as well as areas that border the river.
Gullies, culverts,
storm drains have to be clear.
We're gonna need as many sandbags
as we can get our hands on.
So anything that even resembles
a bag, fill it up.
Strategic choke points
and sandbag berms will slow down
and redirect water flow.
Let me be clear.
We are on our own in this fight.
There is no help coming
and we have no reinforcements.
But what we do have is each other.
And as far as I'm concerned,
that's all we need.
When we work together,
we can fight off blizzards,
we can open borders, we can
bring billion-dollar companies
to their knees.
When we work together,
we are invincible.
This flood is about to find that out.
Oh, careful with those guns, Corinne.
Oh, these babies?
Au naturel. Five months
of carrying around a kid
who always thinks the floor is lava.
Where is Josh?
Uh, he's at my parents'
place in Vermont.
Evacuation sleepover.
Ah.
I see.
Grover.
What's up?
Hey, I need a favor.
Can you run to my dad's facility
and make sure they're evacuated?
I'd go myself,
but I'm still on the clock.
I-I'm sure they're on it,
I just, I worry, you know?
And you're the only one
who knows he's there.
Paul's plan is-is on track,
so nobody will mind
if I step out for a second.
Thanks, Groves. I appreciate it.
You know I got your back.
Dearborns.
Choke point four is stable.
Let's move all remaining
sandbags to six.
Got to say, pretty impressive,
your dad putting all
this together. I know.
Guy can organize 300
people to fight a flood,
but can't figure out
how to write one letter
to his teenage daughter.
You find out where he was
during all those years away?
Everywhere but Greylock.
Pakistan, Ghana, Peru, you name it.
He helped out with the
flooding in Nepal last year.
I guess that's how he learned
about this disaster stuff.
In the Myagdi District?
I remember that.
Over a hundred deaths.
I thought you covered politics,
not natural disasters.
Uh, they're more connected
then you'd think.
The, uh, squabbling
between India and Nepal
about how to handle aid relief
was a disaster in and of itself.
We've got water rising quickly
in quadrant five.
Are we clear to pull the
choke point and flood The Glenn?
Wait, wait, wait, sorry, what
was that about The Glenn?
We have to flood it
to release some pressure.
Call it a pawn sacrifice.
The Penny Lane Playhouse
is in The Glenn.
Oh, my God.
What-what did you do?
Don't worry.
Ev Everyone's evacuated.
The area's clear.
You talked me through
every piece of your plan.
Flooding The Glenn wasn't in it.
Water was coming in so fast
in the southern edge of town
that we couldn't keep up with it.
A hundred homes
would've been destroyed,
twice as many dairy cows,
so I improvised.
Why you didn't you tell me?
I called you an hour ago,
you didn't answer.
We were stacking sandbags
at Stone Orchard.
There's no reception there.
Well, you should've
sent someone to get me.
Hey, the clock was ticking.
I had to send the water somewhere.
The-The Glenn is virtually empty.
There's nothing of real value there.
Uh, relatively speaking,
it's an easy place to lose.
The Penny Lane Playhouse
is in The Glenn.
Come on.
The theater's dead anyway.
What?
You asked me to save the town,
I'm saving the town.
We made the right call here.
Come on. Don't be upset.
You don't get to tell me how
I am supposed to feel.
If you knew anything about me,
you would know that.
Hey.
Got your text. Just
finished my patrol.
All the flood prep is done.
That's great.
Mm, like I said, the place
was-was empty when I got there.
Did you figure out
where they took the residents?
Yeah, a nurse finally called me back.
They evacuated everyone to
a temporary spot down the road.
Almost everyone.
What the hell was that?
The almost.
You really ought to check
your deliveries.
That does not look like an heirloom.
I found him outside
your dad's place. No collar.
Aw, did you make him this toy?
Guessing he belongs
to one of the residents.
They're not allowed to have pets.
Oh, there's a shelter
down the road, though.
Little guy must've gotten lost
in all the flood commotion.
Well, can you bring him back?
It's not exactly food safe
having a dog in the kitchen.
If he is from the shelter,
they'd probably let you keep him.
Oh, no, no, no, AJ, uh-uh.
I can barely take care of myself.
Take that dog out of here.
Uh, I have to drop some stuff
off at the observatory,
so I'll bring him back
to the shelter on my way.
Yeah, great.
Hey. I think I'm
gonna head back
to the high school, turn on the power.
Now that everything's safe,
I think we'll be back at it
by tomorrow.
Well, the kids will be thrilled.
Oh, you know what?
They better be.
My English class is a frickin' delight.
You, uh, you want me to come with you?
No, it's okay.
I'll be right back.
Representative Jiménez.

specials I keep hearing about?
Mashed potatoes,

He calls it Not Today, Seitan.

So, what are you working on?
God, just some research
on a whistleblower
called "Capero326."
You could say Capero326
is my my white whale.
Mm. We read Moby-Dick
last semester,
and it didn't exactly end too well
for the guy chasing the whale.
Yeah, well, I'm more
of an Ishmael than an Ahab.
Mm.
Capero revealed
some-some pretty bad behavior
in the U.S. State Department.
I'm betting it's just
the tip of the iceberg.
So are you looking for the rest of it?
Well, somebody should be.
You know, the press is what
keeps governments honest.
Well, with seitan on your side,
anything is possible.
Hail, seitan.
Hey, um, I'm sorry about earlier.
Tyler, you didn't do anything wrong.

anything right, either.
It takes two to tango.
Or not tango, in our case.
Just, I feel like we

and planned it out that
That when the moment
finally came,
there was just a lot of
Pressure.
Yeah.
Hey, what if we take a sex break?
Maybe if we stop
worrying so much about
getting to where we're going,
we'll enjoy the ride a little bit more.
I'm sorry about The Glenn.
Don't be.
You made the right call.
I don't know why
it feels like I didn't.
Greylock has zero
federal emergency services.
Something had to give.
If that something's
The Glenn, so be it.
But to say that there's nothing
valuable there
I grew up at the Penny Lane Playhouse.
It's where I, um
it's where I learned to be
comfortable in my own skin.
It's where I learned how to
stand up in front of a room
full of people and not get scared.
It let me escape
to different world for a while
and forget about the one
waiting for me at home.
Yeah, see, I, uh,
I didn't know about any of that.
Yeah, like you didn't know
I'm allergic to cranberries.
But I know
that you're a fearless leader.
That is chapter 92 of my life story.
You can't skip the other 91 chapters
and pretend like
you read the whole book.
Well, maybe
maybe if you'd talk to me.
It's not my job to teach you Sarah 101.
How else am I supposed to learn?
Is there, like, an
online tutorial or something?
All right, well, I, um
I missed 18 years of your life,
and I'll, uh, I'll regret
that for the rest of my life.
But I-I can't go back in time.
All I can do is
be here now and ask you to let me in.
Tell me what you want.
What I want is a father who understands
how hard it is for me
to lose the Penny Lane Playhouse
without me having to explain it to him.

Didn't anyone ever tell you
not to play with your food?
I'm not playing with my food.
I'm playing with your food.
Hey, Corinne, are you okay?
Corinne?
What happened?
I'm I'm a little cloudy.
I was driving back to the motel
when I saw water streaming
down Birch Road toward the high school.
And Corinne's car was out front.
I found her unconscious
on the basement floor.
That-that bump on her head is no joke.
She probably has a concussion.
Why didn't you take her to the clinic?
Birch Road is like
a Slip 'N Slide on steroids.
There was just no way through,
so I-I came here.
Thanks, man. Seriously.
All right, come on,
let's get you to the ER.
The roads east should be clear.
You okay? You okay?
Why is there water in the high school?
That's the West Basin.
I thought all the sandbagging
we did this morning was
going to keep that dry.
It was supposed to.
Chokepoints five and six
must've failed.
The only way that happens is
if the water level gets
higher than we thought it would.
Maybe Adam screwed up
the snowmelt calculation.
I triple-checked
His numbers are good.
If there's extra water, it's got
to be coming from someplace else.
A secondary source.
The Zabelle Dam
It's the only place to our west
that could dump that much
water that quickly.
The Canadians are doing all the
same things we're doing, right?
Sandbagging, building barriers.
All those resources and they
can't stop a dam from failing?
Oh, my God.
It's a pawn sacrifice.
What?
If the reservoir behind
the dam overflows,
all that water dumps
into populated areas.
Quebec would lose hundreds
of businesses and homes.
But if the dam fails,
all that water is just released
downstream. The Canadians
must've made the same decision
about Greylock
that we made about The Glenn.
They let the dam fail
so that they could save other places.
Can they do that?
Letting us get destroyed
costs them nothing.
We're their pawn sacrifice.
We have to evacuate, Sarah.
Anyone who's still in Greylock.
Oh, she's right.
It's too dangerous
for all of us to stay here.

What if we reroute the water?
We dig a trench,

away from the West Basin.
To where?
It's already half-full.
What's another few million gallons?
Okay.
But how are we supposed to dig

of excavators just lying around.
