Harold and the Purple Crayon (2001) s01e11 Episode Script

Harold in the Dark

1 Aahaah Aahaah You act on attention, like ladies and gents, when I mention my name at the door.
And I hope you pardon me, see by my card.
I am finding a world we mexplore.
You're in the dream I have drawn.
You're like the wings for my song.
I get a lift with your gift to know right from the wrong, really strong.
Our imagination will find this occasion to go where we know we belong.
Aaaaah! It was Harold's bedtime.
So Harold's mother turned off the light.
Harold was comforted by the light of the moon.
But then Harold searched for the moon, but it had completely disappeared.
Things looked very different in the dark.
If you could see them at all.
Harold didn't think he could fall asleep without the moon shining down on him as it usually did.
Harold couldn't see where to begin his search.
But he had a feeling that something or someone could see him.
Harold was so relieved to have Lilac's company.
Harold had almost forgotten how dark it was.
Harold Until he thought he heard a voice calling him.
A voice as faint as a breeze.
Harold Who could it be, hiding in the dark, calling out his name? Harold wasn't going to wait around to find out.
The moon had still not returned.
Where could it have gone? Harold thought maybe the cow might have seen the moon when she jumped over it.
What was that rumbling sound? Harold was greatly relieved to discover that the rumble was simply the hungry cow's empty stomach.
Harold had drawn far too much grass for a single cow to eat.
So Harold drew some sheep too.
The bell would make it easier to find the sheep in the dark.
Lilac.
who was.
after all.
a sheepdog began to do what sheepdogs do best.
Harold was alarmed to discover that not only had he lost the moon he'd lost Lilac too.
Recalling that there'd been nearly a dozen sheep in the meadow Harold reasoned that if he found them all he was bound to find Lilac.
So as he came upon each of the sheep, he counted them.
One.
Two.
Three.
Four.
Five.
Six.
Seven.
Counting sheep was making Harold very sleepy.
Perhaps he could fall asleep without the moon as his nightlight.
But Harold couldn't let himself fall asleep.
It wasn't safe out here in the open.
In the dark.
But inside the cave, it was even darker than outside.
Harold had no idea who this dark and mysterious stranger could possibly be.
Whatever Harold did, the stranger did it right along with him.
Harold began to think that maybe this stranger wasn't so mysterious after all.
Maybe he just wanted somebody to play with.
At first, Harold had a great time with his new friend.
It was a race to the finish.
Harold was sure he'd win.
But it ended in a tie.
For a moment Harold couldn't figure out where his friend had gone.
But then he found him again, tailing him like a shadow.
Harold began to grow tired of playing with someone who counted on him to come up with all the fun.
Stop copying! On the other hand, even a copycat was better than no one at all.
Harold had lost his new playmate, he'd lost Lilac and he'd lost the moon.
There was nothing but Harold was all alone in the dark.
Hello? Or was he? Harold figured that if he was so good at seeing something that wasn't there he should be even better at finding something that was.
With Lilac's help, Harold was sure he could find the moon again.
Harold decided to look in the most logical place.
It was moon glow.
Harold was sure of it.
With the moon once again lighting up the sky Harold knew exactly how to find his way home.
Harold was suddenly quite sleepy.
So he made his bed.
And drew up the covers.
The purple crayon dropped to the floor and Harold dropped off to sleep.
