Steven Seagal: Lawman (2009) s01e11 Episode Script

Street Justice

Jefferson Parish 911 Operator.
Yeah.
and the truck saw a body in the driveway.
He's laying on the ground? He's about 5'3.
" about 140.
255, I going to need crime scene.
we got a gun.
Four, five! Please welcome Grand Master Steven Seagal.
Move it out so it's more like this.
They're upstairs.
Get back here.
Where you going, man? Let me see your hands.
Jean-Claude van Damme.
Is that true, he got in a fight with you? No.
It'd be like me squashing an ant.
I make a living in the movies, but for the past 20 years 11, 825, code 6.
I've also been a cop.
And along with some of the finest deputies on the force, I serve the people of Jefferson Parish, Louisiana.
Code 94-G, shots fired.
My name is Steven Seagal.
All units respond.
That's right, Steven Seagal, Deputy Sheriff.
See that building right there? That's where we stayed at for 14 days, and that building was rocking when Katrina was blowing.
That was terrible.
About everywhere you looked around here, there were fires popping up like crazy.
Most of the people around here thought it was just gonna be like any old hurricane.
When Katrina hit, it was like hell spilled over on earth.
Everywhere you looked was nothing but water as far as your eyes could see.
There are no words that could describe the fear that I felt for my brothers.
When they're in trouble, I'm supposed to be there for them.
And so I was way in Eastern Europe the day it hit, and, boy, you know, I got on a plane and got here as quick as I could.
There was just, you know, two, three days, boy, where there was just no radios, no phones, no nothing.
No one can really explain the depth and the magnitude of the devastation unless you were here living it.
Yep.
Uh-huh.
Okay, five minutes.
We just got a phone call from one of our narcotics teams that they're about to serve a warrant, and they're asking us for backup and assistance.
So we're gonna go meet up with them at a specified location, they're gonna brief us on what they have, and then from there, we'll go and hit the house.
Thanks to Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Office, crime is way, way down.
But no matter how great our deputies are, there's always gonna be areas that are problematic, and we're trying to hit those areas.
What kind of drugs we looking for? All right, crack.
A few days ago, we made a C.
I.
buy, and subsequently we got a search and seizure warrant.
The mission of today is to execute the warrant.
The C.
I.
has bought several times from this one individual that is dealing out of his house.
We're gonna go hit the house and hopefully get him and get a bunch of drugs off the street.
He's a heavyset black male in his early 20s, and his hair is braided tight to his head.
And he goes by Chunky.
And when you see him, you'll know why.
The target location is a two-story multifamily dwelling.
It's apartment number one.
It's on the first floor.
We've been informed that the suspects are suspicious about police activity, ao we believe there probably will be a lookout here somewhere.
If they see us coming, they're gonna alert everybody.
We're not gonna knock.
We're gonna go right in.
There's gonna be two adults in there.
And there's five children inside.
Eee.
The entry team is gonna be responsible for securing the interior of the residence.
Who's got the long gun? Dimitri.
So you'll be first.
You'll be second.
I'll go behind long gun.
Okay.
If there's anybody hanging outside Take 'em down.
Let's make sure they get taken down.
All right.
So when we hit the house, there's gonna be five guys in the stack.
There'll be ram, long gun, and me.
I'll be third man in.
Intel is telling us that there may be weapons in the house, and we know that there's children there, so we're really hoping to be able to get in there and get everybody safe without any incident.
The subjects are aware that we've been hitting this area hard in reference to narcotics, so they're aware that we could be coming at any minute.
Everybody is real nervous.
If he sees us coming when we roll up, he could do anything.
He could stash any drugs, run for it, pull a gun-- anything could happen.
Once we make the turn by the track, it's gonna be immediately within a few seconds.
All right, it's right up here.
Door's unlocked.
Get ready to go.
I don't see nobody out.
I don't see nobody out.
Door's open, first door.
Door's open, Pat.
Get on the ground.
Get on the ground.
Get on the ground now.
You all ready? Yeah, let's go.
The C.
I.
has bought several times from this one individual that is dealing out of his house.
We know that there's children there, so we're really hoping to be able to get in there and get everybody safe without any incident.
All right, it's right up here.
Door's open, Pat.
Get on the ground.
Get on the ground, man.
Get on the ground.
Get on the ground.
Get on the ground now.
Move faster than that.
Yo, come on downstairs.
Come on downstairs.
Facedown, facedown, facedown, facedown.
Calm down.
Calm down.
Calm down, everybody.
Don't move, Chunky.
Let's get the others out of here.
We went in.
It was a perfect entrance.
All right, we're gonna stand you up, all right? Secured everybody, made sure nobody got hurt.
The suspect that we were looking for is sitting on the ground right there.
Wait.
Hold on.
Cutie, go get my phone off the bed.
I'm about to call my mama.
This , go.
What the wrong with you all? that.
.
What the wrong with you all? Oh, my God.
Hush.
Hush, hush, hush, hush.
I just love the way they put babies in harm way like this all the time, and then they start screaming at us.
As far as I'm concerned, it was a perfect operation.
The first thing we do is just try to make sure that everybody's safe, and then they'll come in and do the search.
Man, when these guys hide their stash, they hide it good.
Check this door right here.
Could be anywhere.
Is this your man? Because if you love your family, man, you're gonna have to tell us straight up now.
You heard me? Real strong smell of weed in here, man.
There's some crack right there.
Straight up? Where that weed at in the back? In your blue shoe in this room? Blue shoe box.
Blue shoe box.
That's all there is? Based on our intel, we expected to find a lot of drugs.
We found some, and we're takin' him in on that.
And what you was doing back here, man? I ain't trying to get into no kind of trouble with no drugs or nothin'.
Right.
Stay clean.
You working? Yes, sir.
So you take pee tests, you pee clean and everything? Yes, sir, I don't do no drugs.
I got two children.
You got to be there for them, man.
Exactly.
They need a father.
They don't need no father that's locked up.
Right.
You're right.
We've done all we can here now, so narcotics will come in and build the case.
Everything all right, baby.
Everything cool.
Everything fine.
You heard me? Everything fine.
It's very difficult for us to see things like this where you have children in a house where they're slinging dope.
Children need good role models and a safe environment.
When there's narcotics being sold, it's usually indicative of neglect.
So we're just glad that the kids are not gonna be exposed to this for a while.
Got 'em for you, sir.
And we hope that this gentleman can clean up his act and be a good role model.
See you all at the next one.
Let's roll.
I feel bad that this had to happen around these kids.
Children are our future.
We got to protect them.
Let's go.
How you doing, my brother? Man, you're still looking good, baby.
I don't know about that.
Still looking good.
You still playing your music? Yes, sir.
Today we're here to see Eddie Compass, who was Chief of Police of New Orleans Police Department during Katrina.
We served together during Katrina and became best of friends.
Man, you're looking younger and younger.
I don't know what your secret is.
Well, I'm standing round these kids, man, standing round these kids.
These days, Eddie Compass is reaching out to at-risk youth.
Yeah, boy, this guy here, if it wasn't for him, man, we wouldn't have made it through the storm.
You know, you came in, and you worked with my guys.
I mean, you were in the field.
You were on the front line.
And you handled your business, you know? Like, my tactical guys, man, they had nothing but praise for what you did.
Thank you.
You know, we did it together.
Oh, yeah.
We couldn't have done it without each other.
What we're gonna do today, we're gonna go in the ninth ward, where the hurricane really hit, where we was at, on the front line.
Yeah.
This was one of the most lucrative and busiest areas in the lower ninth ward, where commerce was vibrant in the black community.
This is years later.
And nothing's been done.
Nothing's been done.
Since Katrina, good kids in neighborhoods just like this are really struggling Because they've lost their support system.
Juvenile crime is way up, so Eddie feels like through a martial arts program, he can get some of these kids back, give them great opportunities.
When I think about martial arts, you're the first person I think of.
Thank you.
So if you can give me a hand with kicking this off, you know, getting the kids interested, I would really appreciate that, my brother.
I'm definitely gonna do that.
It would be my honor and my pleasure to do that.
If we can get kids involved in something positive, it will really cut down on crime, and that's what I'm all about.
This is where I saw Jean Claude van Damme fall off a motorbike here going about six miles an hour.
He must've had 40 aides helping him.
Is that true he got in a fight with you? No.
It'd be like me squashing an ant.
I don't remember where.
I don't know if it was the Enquirer, But I remember reading something about that.
Come on.
You, Larry? Thought he said he did, like, a spinning double twist kick or something.
Come on.
If he sees me, he runs.
Well, he said that he whupped some Aikido ass or something.
I don't know.
Come on.
WB, WB .
10-4.
So this area in here has become a real bad area.
A lot of the homes along here after Katrina have become abandoned and turned into crack houses.
Roger that.
The drug slingers, they all try to work in the shadows.
For as long as I've been doing this, I try to be able to see into the shadows.
Just the way somebody looks up, the way he turns-- anything can give us a clue on what we got to do and how to do it.
Let's hit them first, baby.
That's an order.
Hit them first.
Okay, we en route to a hotel, and we had a C.
I.
inform us that they might be dealing drugs somewhere in one of the rooms over there.
After Katrina, some of these motels became havens for the worst of the worst.
We're not really sure what the motive of our informant is.
It might be that he's got an enemy in there that he wants to crush.
It might be that he's setting us up for an ambush.
We really don't know.
But the long and the short is, it's a recipe for something dangerous unless we're really on our toes.
We're gonna move in quickly and try to catch them off guard.
They're upstairs.
Come here, man.
Come here.
Yo, stop! Get back here! Where you going, man? Come back here! Open the door! Let me see your hands.
Put your hands up high.
We en route to a hotel.
We had a C.
I.
inform us that they might be dealing drugs in one of the rooms over there.
We're not really sure what the motive of our informant is.
It might be that he's setting us up for an ambush.
We really don't know.
Come here, man.
Where you going, man? Come back here! Open the door.
Let me see your hands.
Put your hands up high.
Everybody out! Out the room.
Don't put your hands in your pocket.
What is going on? Turn around there.
This is the room they're supposedly slinging drugs, and when they opened the door, we saw crack pipes in plain view.
Out.
Out the room.
Find anything? Just pipes.
Just pipes, huh? That's all drug paraphernalia here.
It was obvious that something was going on.
You just don't open up a door And when you see the police you run in and lock the door.
Cuz, where you going? Come on up over here.
Put your hands up in there.
What you all doing up in here? You all ain't got no crack up in there? Because it look like there's some crack up in there.
Look.
You see this? You know what that is? You know what that is? You know what that is? That's right.
Just so you know, we didn't fall off a turnip truck last night, you know what I'm saying? No, indeed.
All right, that's all.
Put your hands back on top of your head.
Intertwine your fingers.
Now walk back outside.
Somebody here got something that they ain't supposed to have.
You got any drugs on you? If it's in your pants and I find it in your pants, I'm gonna make you very uncomfortable.
Yes, sir.
What you found? Well, that's a lot of crack right there.
Nine rocks.
Nine rocks.
That's what I'm talking about, baby.
We testing this crack.
You mix these two together, And if it turns blue, it's positive for cocaine.
We pregnant.
What do we got here, hoss? That's the guy that opened the door.
We believe it's his room.
We're gonna charge him with possession of crack cocaine.
The records check came back on this gentleman.
He had battery and resisting arrest warrants.
The male and the female came back clear.
They'll be free to leave.
1.
2 grams.
It's about $100.
You fighting us all the time.
You fighting the police.
Now, how that's cool? >> He kind of thought it was funny tonight.
Yes, sir, he did.
You stop fighting us, brother, you won't be going to jail.
Go to the left.
Watch your head.
Well, it seems like our informant led us to something good.
Got a lot of crack off the street.
The world's a better place for a minute.
Let's go.
Saddle up! See y'all at the next one.
All right, let's roll.
That was a good little deal.
That was a good little pop.
Yes, sir.
Two, three, four, five! How you doing, sir? It's a pleasure meeting you, man.
I'm a great, great fan of yours.
My brother, my brother.
So I'm here with my friend Eddie Compass and his very good friend Karate Sensei Mr.
O'neal.
Who could get these kids more motivated than you to start this program out? So that's why we're so glad you're here.
They are creating programs for the children to bring them away from the temptation of getting involved in street crimes and gang activity and narcotics.
After Katrina hit, it destroyed all of my schools, And, you know, I was committed to coming back to the city to rekindle that, because in my mind, this is a time that it's needed more than anything else.
That's right.
Everybody, let's welcome Grand Master Steven Seagal to our dojo.
Give him a big hand! What do we learn in karate? Combo number one: Speed, power, and focus.
One! Two! Three! Back over your head.
Okay.
See where it is? You don't want to be there.
I want you to get a little bit of angle so that it'll slide off and a little bit higher and a little bit out So it's more like this.
Everybody have a seat.
So I'm here today to let you know how proud I am of Master O'neal and Eddie Compass for bringing you this opportunity that has been given to us by the masters.
These arts have been around for almost 1,000 years.
I promise you, it will turn you into a better person.
Yes, ma'am.
I was.
And believe it or not, I'm still shy.
Compass Sensei can say this: I can be very quiet.
I'll just go somewhere, and I'll sit off in a corner, and people will call me arrogant.
I'm not arrogant.
I'm just shy like you.
And I think the martial arts helped give me a lot of confidence, a lot of self-esteem and helped teach me respect for myself.
You're trying to conquer yourself.
You're trying to master yourself.
Thank y'all for having me.
Let's give Grand Master a big hand, everybody.
So you hear about everybody doing all this work to rebuild the infrastructure of New Orleans.
But to me, what's even more important is the work to help the children.
Most of these children have not had anybody who's reaching out to them and saying, "I have something that I can give you "and help you with.
"and I'm not gonna disappear.
"I'm gonna be there for you.
I'm always gonna be there for you.
