DANIEL: Taki, the ad says the fishing boat is looking for three strong men,
not two men and a girl.
I don't care.
I didn't come all the way to Norway
to wait at the hotel
while you and Mr. Miyagi go sailing off to look for the shrine.
But you'll spoil everything if you show up there with us.
I will not!
You will, too!
Ouch! Ow!
Mr. Miyagi! Mr. Miyagi!
Daniel- san and Taki- san need take deep breath.
(BOTH GASP)
And remember, only important that we find shrine,
not who finds it.
I guess you're right!
Do you really think the whale that attacked these ships
could've swallowed the shrine?
MIYAGI: Could be. Whale only attack illegal whaling boats.
Maybe shrine increase instinct for survival.
Well, what do we do if we do find her?
First, get job on fishing boat going near sightings.
Then worry about whale.
Well, bon voyage.
CAPTAIN: Lars! Olaf!
What's taking you so long loading that crate?
We're doing the best we can, Captain.
(STRAINING) (ENGINE SPUTTERS)
(SIGHS) I give up. We need a new winch.
First mate,
get over there and show those swabs
their left hand from their right!
Yes, sir.
(STRAINING)
(SPITS)
(ENGINE WHIRS)
(LAUGHING)
CAPTAIN: Now hurry up and get that crate aboard!
I'm taking on the first three able-bodied men that answer that ad.
DANIEL: Permission to come aboard, sir.
Hold it right there!
I don't care if I am in a hurry,
I ain't running no floating kindergarten
for the likes of you.
Or no old folks home for the likes of you, neither.
And there's not even three of you!
TAKI: Yes, there are, sir.
Tak Tamura, reporting for duty.
Hey, get out of there! That crate is falling!
LARS: Heads up, everybody!
Hyah!
DANIEL: Hyah!
(CREAKING) (GASPS)
Are you all right, kid?
(GASPS) Of course I'm all right.
When I need your help I'll ask for it.
You're a girl!
I mean (DEEP-VOICED) You're a girl.
It looks like this boat ride
is gonna be a lot more fun than I thought.
Thanks for saving my daughter.
I guess I could find some use for you,
but I don't know about your mates.
Friends good workers. Learn quick.
Yeah, well, we'll see.
So, you're the captain's daughter?
Yeah, you wanna make something of it?
No, no. (LAUGHS) It's just a pleasant surprise.
You won't think it's so pleasant
by the time this voyage is over.
Get your mind on your work, Sigrid!
Yes, Father.
I want to cast off without anymore delay.
Did I say, "fun"?
This is not exactly what I had in mind either.
Hey, cool it, "Tak." (CHUCKLES)
MIYAGI: No, you cool it, Daniel- san.
You're in same boat now.
Yeah, I know.
But whatever happened to the romance of the sea I'm always reading about?
Uh, may I help you with your groceries, fair maiden?
No!
Whoa! (THUDS)
Maybe have better luck impressing her,
if stop trying so hard.
Forget it, Mr. Miyagi.
This girl is a walking iceberg.
As Father once said,
"Need to look below tip of iceberg
"to see what underneath."
SIGI: If you're through playing search and rescue,
I've got work for you swabs.
Nah. Ain't nothing under this iceberg but more ice.
(GRUNTS) Here.
Stow the rest of these food supplies in the galley.
Oh! (THUDS)
Oh! Whatever happened to real men?
Well, well, well.
Who do we have here?
(GRUNTS)
CAPTAIN: I should never have hired the lot of you!
The last thing I need on my boat is a female.
But she's a female!
That's different. She's not useless.
I can do any chore you assign me, Captain Osendu.
So you will, girl. Now in the galley with you!
But, but
Captain, there she blows!
What? Hurry! Break open the crate!
(STUTTERS) Hey, what's going on?
Did Did he sight a school of fish?
Just do as you're told, crewman!
(CREAKING)
(STRAINS)
Oh, no!
What's that thing?
Just what it looks like, a whale harpoon.
But I thought this was a fishing boat.
Not on this trip.
There's a reward on that whale's head,
and I intend to get it!
Captain, she's diving! She's getting away!
I want that harpoon mounted on the railing now!
That's an order!
Go on, girl. Get out of here!
LARS: Oh, she's gone.
Olaf, prepare the harpoon.
We're going after her!
Like I said, you aren't fit for life on the sea.
If destroying that whale is what it takes to be fit,
then you're right, I'm not.
Cut the chatter.
Everyone back to work!
For a minute there I almost got to Sigi.
I could see it in her eyes.
Maybe there is a soft heart inside that cold fish.
Careful, Daniel- san.
Easier to catch fish in calm waters
than in stormy sea.
What are we gonna do, Mr. Miyagi?
We've set the course due east in the direction we last saw the whale.
Uh
What baffles me is every time I spot her, she vanishes,
just like that.
Maybe there's a reason she vanishes.
Maybe she knows she's being hunted.
Ha! You talk like she had a mind of her own.
She's just 100-tons of blubber.
TAKI: She's more than blubber!
Whales are peaceful by nature
and closer in intelligence to man
than any other creature.
(BOTH GASP)
I'm not that hungry.
Sorry.
Taki's right. We're not talking about some stupid mackerel here.
But if you don't have the stomach for it,
stay below!
I've lost my appetite.
Sigi, relieve Olaf on whale watch.
Aye, sir.
I'll finish this later.
(GRUNTS)
(SCOFFS) Landlubbers!
Sigi, you've got to convince your father
it's wrong to kill the whale.
(GRUNTS) Leave me alone. I've got work to do.
(GASPS)
(LAUGHS) Some sailor you are.
You laugh, but I think you really care about the whale.
You're just afraid to admit it.
I'm not afraid of anything!
(AIR WHOOSHING)
(GASPS) No!
No!
Somebody help!
Sigi! Hold on!
(GRUNTS)
(SIGI GASPS)
No!
Hyah!
(GRUNTS)
Are you all right?
(GASPING)
(SIGHS) You handled that emergency very well.
I save your life for the second time,
and that's all you have to say?
Oh, yeah. Thank you.
CAPTAIN: Sigi! You're supposed to be on watch!
Ever since you set foot on this ship,
there's been trouble.
Olaf, secure that boom!
But, Father, uh, sir,
Daniel was just doing his duty. He saved
I want you back on whale watch! And that's an order!
Aye, sir.
And you, go to the radio room and listen for weather reports,
if you think you can handle that.
I can handle whatever you dish out, "Captain."
I hope there is still time to free the shrine from the whale, Mr. Miyagi.
Hai, Taki- san. Miyagi hope, too.
Miyagi, follow me.
A storm's coming. We must secure the hatches.
You, back in the galley.
There's dishes to clean.
We must make sacrifices to find shrine.
(THUNDER CRACKING)
You're that boy's teacher.
You should teach him to respect authority.
Teach respect good,
but time come when student must jump into deep water alone.
Sink or swim.
That's fine, as long as he doesn't take the rest of the crew with him.
Especially first mate.
Leave my daughter out of this!
I'll take her from here.
Aye, Captain.
Miyagi speak from one fisherman to another.
Daughter like fish.
If keep line too tight,
big one get away.
What do you know about making a living on the sea
and raising a daughter by yourself?
The reward will set us up for life.
Oh!
This woman's place is not the kitchen!
We call it a galley.
If you are here to boss me around, you can turn around and
I didn't come here to give orders.
I just want to talk, girl to girl.
(WHIRRING)
MAN ON RADIO: This is the Bonnie Day. 64 latitude, longitude 128.
This is a bummer.
(ROCK MUSIC PLAYING) All right, rock 'n' roll!
(STATIC)
(ROCK MUSIC PLAYING)
SIGI: Uh, is this dance taken?
Uh, no. (STUTTERS) I'm free.
Oh, yeah. You look
You look
(CHUCKLES) Oh, shut up and dance.
Yes, sir, I mean
I don't get it.
What happened to the tough sailor?
She's off duty right now.
This is the other Sigi. The one you helped me to see.
Hey, you know, I was just calling it like I saw it.
There's another side to the whale, too.
That's why we came aboard.
We've been searching for a lost statue with great powers.
Mr. Miyagi thinks it's inside the whale.
That's the reason it's acting so insane.
I don't know if I understand what you're saying,
but I believe you.
(RUMBLING) (GASPS)
(BOTH GASP)
What was that, a storm?
That's no storm!
It's the whale!
(WHIMPERS) I was supposed to be on watch!
I've got to find my father!
Sigi, wait! You don't have to listen to him.
Stand up for what you believe!
CAPTAIN: All hands on deck!
Whale on starboard bow!
Ready the nets!
I'll man the harpoon!
Father, you mustn't kill the whale!
You were supposed to be on watch,
not having a fancy party!
You disobeyed an order, sailor.
I'm not just a sailor.
I'm your daughter.
I have feelings if my own!
Sigi, think of the reward.
It is the answer to our dreams.
Your dreams. What about mine?
(SQUEALING)
The whale!
Sigi, help the crew man the nets!
No! I won't help you kill it!
It's that boy that's been filling your head with those ideas!
He's just being a friend.
I haven't had one of those in a long time!
I'm not telling her how to live her life and neither should you!
Listen, Father, please.
Mr. Miyagi knows how to make the whale peaceful again.
That's nonsense!
Let him try,
unless the reward means more to you
than the whale and your daughter.
(CRACKING)
(ALL GRUNT)
She is trying to destroy my ship!
I will have her at all costs!
She is mine at last!
(CAPTAIN SCREAMS)
(YELPS)
Now you will be mine, you mad monster!
(GASPS) Father!
MIYAGI: Stop! Must release harpoon now!
Power in whale now in you, too!
(EERILY) No one gives me orders!
(GRUNTS)
(GROANS)
Must listen.
When your anger grow stronger,
anger grow stronger in whale.
Must release harpoon now!
The whale, Captain! She's charging the ship again!
Prepare to drop the nets on her!
Let her be, Captain.
She's possessed! She'll destroy us!
Do you dare disobey me?
Please, Father, stop!
CAPTAIN: Now I will finish you!
Drop the nets!
(YELLS)
Father!
I've got to save him!
No, Sigi. Wait!
I must get shrine before too late.
(GRUNTS)
You will not get the better of me, whale!
(SIGI STRAINS)
Father, let go of the harpoon!
You're making it angrier!
Wait, Sigi! I'm on my way!
You have met your master!
(SQUEALING)
Help!
I can't I can't get free!
Uh, Mr. Miyagi!
TAKI: Mr. Miyagi, look out!
(SQUEALING)
(GRUNTS)
Mr. Miyagi!
Miyagi get shrine now or never!
Easy.
Miyagi no want to hurt you.
Just make you cough.
(GRUNTS) SIGI: Father!
SIGI: Help! (GASPS)
Father, help!
Sigi!
DANIEL: Mr. Miyagi, help!
(GRUNTS) Hang on a little longer, Daniel- san.
(BOTH COUGHING)
What's going on down there?
(BOTH SCREAM)
She's going to ram us!
Abandon ship!
No! It's not ramming. It's helping!
Throw down the ropes!
(BOTH GRUNT)
My daughter. Is she safe?
Aye. You set whale free.
Set self free at same time.
(BELLOWING)
What about the shrine, Mr. Miyagi?
Win some, lose some.
I know what you mean, Miyagi.
I may have lost a reward,
but I found a daughter.
(WHALE BELLOWING IN DISTANCE)
Hey, look. She's come back to say goodbye.
Do you think the whale I mean knew she was rescuing us?
I'd like to believe she did, Sigi.
