The Legend of Hanuman (2021) s01e11 Episode Script
Sampati Rises
1
Though the two Princes had been led astray
by Ravan's cunning,
the abduction of Princess Sita
did not pass unnoticed
Nor unopposed
The noble Jatayu had witnessed the crime
and came swiftly to the Princess's aid
Few creatures alive could defy him,
and his wrath was terrible to behold
There was no foe
he had not overcome
But, until that grim day,
he had never faced Ravan
And Jatayu's bravery
came to an end
Or so it would seem
Wounded, dying, he lived long enough
to pass on what had happened
So, even with his last breath,
he gave the two Princes hope
And was thus rewarded
by the gods
And the quest to save
the Princess began
Jatayu!
No!
Brother!
Come on
My leg!
Hanuman
Hanuman
Help your brother up
Jatayu! Jatayu!
Jatayu!
Nal!
Now, that's not something you see
every day
Stop! Stop! I want to get off!
Do something, Nal!
Stop him!
Let my brother go!
I've got this
Hanuman! Wait! Wait!
Nal!
Brother!
Wait for me, Hanuman!
Let me help!
Whoa!
Nal! Nal! Where's Nal?
No need to thank me
Where are you, brother?
Nal!
I'm here!
I landed on Jambhvan
Your belly is great for breaking falls
Go help Hanuman
Help him?
Does he look like he needs help?
You misunderstand
Go help stop him!
He doesn't know who he's fighting
Time to be rid of you, monster
Hanuman, child of the wind
Child of the wind
Who's there? Show yourself
Show yourself!
What
What have you done to my brother?
Tell me!
Tell me!
Are you done?
Now it's my turn
Stop, Hanuman. Stop
He's an ally
Unhand me, Angad! He's about to
Great Sampati, hold back your anger
Do you recognize me?
I knew your brother, the noble Jatayu
Jambhvan? Is that you?
Your fur has turned grey
As have your feathers, old friend
Forgive the over-enthusiasm
of these young ones
We mean no harm
This is Jatayu's brother?
Older
Please, please forgive me, Lord
I did not know
What's going on, Jambhvan?
Why are you here?
We need to talk
I have grim news to tell you
That cannot be true
My heart breaks for your loss,
great one, but it is true
Ravan slew your brother,
the noble Jatayu
Mercilessly cut him down
as he tried to save Princess Sita
He died bravely,
but the powers of Ravan
Ravan
Ravan!
Ravan!
Ravan!
- I must help
- No, Hanuman
But he is in pain, Jambhvan
Yes. Yes, he is
And there is nothing
we can do about it
Ravan!
Ravan!
Ravan!
Jatayu
My brother
My brother was always too bold
And this time,
I wasn't there to save him
Too bold, by far
Always trying
to achieve the impossible
Always challenging me
But that is the way
of younger brothers
Their love is often expressed
in rivalry
So, it was that day my brother
challenged me to fly towards the sun
He was too stubborn and I couldn't say no,
so I flew with him to keep an eye on him
I used my wings to shade my brother
from the sun
Long enough for him to recover
his strength and fly to safety
Though the price was high
A price I'd pay happily
again and again
I couldn't save him,
but I can avenge him
But how?
I am a cripple, stranded on a beach
I cannot help myself
How can I avenge my brother?
How can I make Ravan feel my pain?
Ravan will pay for his crimes, my Lord
He will pay for them all
I serve King Sugreev,
and he is allied to the noble Prince Ram
of Ayodhya and his brother, Prince Lakshman
The two Princes are unlike
any other mortals
Ravan has escaped justice too long,
but he will not escape them
They sent you here? Why?
Prince Ram sent me here to find his wife,
Princess Sita,
the woman your brother tried to save
We have journeyed far from our homes,
and yet found no trace of her
I fear we have failed
Too much time has passed
We were supposed to find her by now
If we just had a clue
to where she may be,
then our delay would be
of no consequence
I have failed,
and now all our lives are forfeit
Their faith in me
has been sorely misplaced
You have looked everywhere
for Princess Sita?
Every patch of land south of Kishkindha,
where Ravan was seen heading
after abducting Princess Sita
The land
but not the sea?
Have you looked there?
No. Not the sea
No one can search the entire sea
I can
Despite my age,
I have few blessings, vaanar
And my vision is one
I am far-sighted
My eyes can see
further than the moon,
past the blinding sun
and every hidden star
in the universe
What do you see, my Lord?
I see shining waves
I see swift free-jumping creatures
of pure joy
I see the elements at war
I see terror
What else?
I I see a city
A beautiful city. Richer than the wealth
of a thousand nations
What else, Sampati? What else?
I see a woman
gazing into the still waters of a pond
with sadness in her eyes
Sad eyes? Did you say sad?
Is it Princess Sita, Sampati?
She she
She could be no one else
Princess Sita? Are you sure?
She is in Lanka
Lanka
Princess Sita has been found!
The Princess has been found!
The Princess has been found!
She's in Lanka!
Lanka! Lanka! The Princess is in Lanka!
Let's go to Lanka! Lanka!
Hold on. Where's Lanka?
Across the sea
Across the sea? Then our quest is over
The Princess cannot be reached
We have failed
King Sugreev will punish us
Lord Sampati!
Are you all right?
So very tired and so very alone,
my brother
You have our company now
You have done us a great service
We'll look after you
There's no need for that
Let me just rest for a while
Somewhere peaceful, with a breeze
The breeze reminds me of flying
Flying in the endless skies
Flying without a care,
flying alongside my brother
I tell you we are doomed!
We need to turn back and throw ourselves
at the mercy of our king!
Perhaps he'll forgive us
We tried our best, didn't we?
We've done all anyone could ask for. We
Hey!
What sort of talk is this? What are you,
man or monkey? You can't give up now!
Get away from me, you buffoon!
Watch it! You can't go around
calling my brother a buffoon!
Only I'm allowed to do that
Now, I want you to
Get away!
That is enough!
Now, who else thinks we're doomed?
This is your one and only chance
I thought as much
Now listen, we have work to do
What?
Who's there?
Foolish old bird
You're imagining things
Jatayu?
You have returned!
They said that you
I understand
You have come for me
I have waited so long
for this moment
And it has come as a gentle breeze
I cannot reach you, Jatayu
You are too high
Go on without me
Brother! Look, brother!
Let us fly together again
Let us take to the open skies
Let us fly forever
Forever
I managed to talk some sense
back into them
Now, before they change their minds again,
we need to find a way to reach Lanka
Perhaps we could have Sampati search Lanka
more thoroughly and find
He's gone. Disappeared, but to where?
He's where he should be
In the open sky
Like a bird always soaring
towards the heavens,
he, too, has taken flight once more
to fly alongside his brother
He is finally free
Though the two Princes had been led astray
by Ravan's cunning,
the abduction of Princess Sita
