Tyler, have you spoken

The principal's working
out deals to hold classes
in other places until it dries out.
- What about the clinic?
- LIZ: Still wet.
As is all the equipment inside.
The heart monitors, X-ray
machine, MRI, all of it gone.
That sounds like an expensive problem.
SARAH: Yeah, good thing we're sitting
on a very valuable mineral deposit.
How close are we to the
first batch of coltan
- coming out of the ground?
- It's happening as we speak.
I'll have a better update
when we meet again tonight.
Okay. We'll hit the gas on repairs
as soon as revenue starts flowing.
In the meantime, we need to stay focused
on getting official
recognition from the U.S.
Even wealthy countries rely on
their allies in times of crisis.
We have to be able to do the same
if we're gonna survive long-term.
Hornets beat the Knicks.
What else is new?
Wizards over the Nuggets
oh, I bet that makes you feel happy,
Mr. J, being a Baltimore man.
And there's the grand prize,
Celtics over the Lakers,
113-97. There we go.
Easy. We had an off night.
She's a sweet girl, your daughter,
but misguided, you know?
To root for the Lakers? Come on, AJ.
All right, you three.
It's time for lunch.
It's Milkshake Monday.
Oh, Milkshake Monday?
You sure are getting spoiled, Dad.
Not for much longer.
Rumor is MediCo is
trying to buy this place.
What's MediCo?
It's a health care conglomerate.
They buy up hospitals,
then they cut costs
and jack up the prices.
It's disgraceful.
I-I'm on a budget, Gloria.
What happens if, you know,
if I can't cover the new rates?
(EXHALES) Don't ask me.
I do milkshakes, not balance sheets.
Thank you all for staying so
focused during the flood repairs.
Everything should be dried
out in the next few weeks.
But until then, we're
gonna be using spaces
all over town to hold class.
Yeah, it smells like feet in here.
Well, maybe tomorrow you should
consider wearing clean socks, Hunter.
- (LAUGHTER)
- Okay, so,
despite all the changes, we
are gonna continue forward
with our sophomore study project.
So you can create your
own independent project
in any area you'd like.
- Can it be something art-related?
- Mm-hmm.
As long as it has literary value
and you submit a project
at the end of three weeks.
So we can be flexible?
- Yes. You can be flexible.
- Thank you.
You guys, this is your chance
to create your own curriculum,
so dream big.
Here's the bag you left in the garage.
You know, I could've come and got it.
I don't want you in my house.
(CHUCKLES)
Nothing changes, does it?
Tell me about it.
You leave Greylock
because your life is more important
than everybody else's,
and then you come back
two decades later,
for exactly the same reason.
I came back to see my kids.
Oh, really? Did you finally get
bored of running from them?
I wasn't running away from them.
And from what I understand,
I'm not the only one who
was running from you.
Be careful. It's a long fall
from up on that high horse.
I'm sure it does seem high,
from down in the ditches
where you've been.
Oh. Well, from where I'm standing,
I'm looking at a very selfish,
cowardly, poor excuse for a man.
You just hop right back up
on that bike and take off
- like it was yesterday.
- Last time I checked,
I think you're the one that took off.
Can't imagine why.
Everything bad that happened
once you were gone
was because you were gone!
So what you did was my fault?
You're unbelievable.
DANNY: I have good news and better news.
The good news is, the first
batch of coltan is here.
Tomorrow, we'll start processing
it into metallic tantalum.
Less geology, more economics.
That is the better news.
The global price of coltan jumped
this past week thanks to a
military coup in the Congo.
Well, let's make not give
thanks for a military coup?
The coltan is worth more
than the market rate?
We're gonna get a bump
on this first batch.
How much of a bump are we talking here?
$52 million more than we were expecting.
- (ALL GASPING)
- And given Sarah's deal with Lydon
promises two-thirds of all
profits back to the town,
which means Greylock
stands to make an extra
$35 million.
What are we gonna do
with all that money?
$35 million spent the right way
gets Greylock a new high
school and a new clinic.
Two birds, one super valuable stone.
Hold on, the people of Greylock,
they went through a lot
because of this coltan. They
deserve a share of the spoils.
This kind of money's life-changing.
Look, the population
of Greylock is what?
- 2,700.
- SARAH: 2,700.
Divide $35 million by 2,700,
is about $13,000 per person.
Barely enough to buy a new car, so
to call it life-changing
is a little far-fetched.
- LIZ: Whoa.
- For you, Mr. Manhattan address.
Okay, look, hand this money out,
and it's just a bunch of raindrops.
But pool it together, and we
can actually get real change
in Greylock. I mean, t-those
raindrops become a flood.
- Wrong analogy, considering the circumstances.
- Sure.
Look, if we start handing
out stimulus checks,
everyone's gonna spend that
money outside of Greylock.
Wh If we hand out stimulus checks,
everyone's gonna spend that money
however they damn well please.
Can we just pause for a
second and take a vote?
Who wants infrastructure?
And who wants stimulus?
DANNY: Two to two.
You're the tie break, sis.
Of course.

I know, I know, I'm
sorry, I hate it, too.
Okay. Let's hear it.
So, um, I know that
the council is talking
about what to do with the surplus.
Sarah, you have to invest
it in the school system.
That option is already on the table.
I don't want it on the table.
I want it in the budget.
Sarah, our school was struggling
before the flood, but now?
The few resources we
do have are laughable.
Rumor is, Principal Asadi is
retiring at the end of the year.
I'm gonna throw my hat into the ring.
Running for the Greylock
council showed me that
maybe I can do big things.
I want to put Greylock on the map
as the most progressive
school district in the world.
But I can't do that if we
aren't properly funded.
I know that you're still
a teacher on the inside,
no matter what you are on the outside.
And teachers always put
their students first.
