Thomas The Tank Engine And Friends (1984) s01e12 Episode Script
Thomas Goes Fishing (7 min)
When Thomas puffed along his branch line, he always looked forward to something special - the sight of the river.
As he rumbled over the bridge, he saw people fishing.
Thomas wanted to watch but his driver said, "No!" Every time he met another engine, he'd say, "l want to fish.
" But they all had the same answer.
"Engines don't fish!" He stopped to take in water by the river.
"Out of order? Bother!" said Thomas.
"Never mind," said his driver.
"We'll get water from the river.
" They found a bucket and some rope and went to the bridge.
The driver let the bucket down to the water.
lt was old and had holes so they had to empty it into Thomas's tank quickly! They finished at last.
"That's good," puffed Thomas.
But Thomas began to feel a pain in his boiler.
Steam began to hiss from his safety valve.
"Oh!" groaned Thomas.
"l'm going to burst!" They damped down his fire and went on.
"l've got such a pain," Thomas hissed.
They stopped just outside the last station, uncoupled the coaches, and ran Thomas on a siding out of the way.
The guard called for an engine inspector and the driver found large notices.
Danger! Keep away.
The Fat Controller arrived.
"We'll soon put you right.
" The driver told them what had happened.
"l'll look in the tanks.
" He climbed up and peered in.
"Sir, look in the tank and tell me what you see.
" "Certainly," replied the Fat Controller.
"lnspector, " he whispered, "Can you seefish?" "How did the fish get there, driver?" "They must have been in the bucket!" "Well, Thomas, you have been fishing but we must get them out.
" They took turns at fishing while the Fat Controller told them how to do it.
When they had caught all the fish, they had a lovely fish supper! "That was good," said the Fat Controller, "But fish don't suit you so you mustn't do it again.
" "l won't.
Engines don't go fishing, it's too uncomfortable!"
