Emily Owens M.D. (2012) s01e13 Episode Script
Emily and... The Leap
Previously on "Emily Owens, M.
D.
" Talk to me about Dr.
Owens.
You clearly like her.
She has no idea.
This thing with Emily There's no thing with Emily.
Then choose.
Cassandra We're done.
I'm done with Will.
I want to be someone's first choice.
Thank you.
I learned early on that I was the master of mistakes.
I'm really sorry, Micah, for what I said.
It was it was dumb.
It's fine.
I'm fine.
So you don't want to talk about it? About the breakup? What's to talk about? I'm fine, like I said.
Like I said, when you kissed me, I was I was really, really surprised.
Mistakes you wish you could take back.
Thank you.
For that explanation.
You have to get over the fact that I said thank you.
It's not that funny.
What's funny? Uh, I You, your reaction.
I'm just you know, I'm a little little confused.
Just so confused, Tyra.
We did date.
Right? It's over.
You chose Emily.
Are you confused because of Will? No.
I'm What do you mean? What are you talking about? I didn't choose Emily.
Yes, you did.
And it's okay.
I'm fine.
What can you do? Relationships end, right? Just like that? Four years of being in love with him? And just, overnight it's gone? It's not gone.
It's just squashed very deep down.
And I would rather focus on something very, very good that's right in front of me.
Let me get in.
I need to get some water.
Wait your turn! Go! Just go for it, then.
No, I can't just go for it.
He's my boss.
There's all kinds of professional implications.
Stupid jerk.
Ma'am, we're going to have to ask you to leave.
So you're not going to go out with Micah? I want to.
That's the thing.
Oh, my God.
Watch out.
We're doctors.
Shallow.
She looks dehydrated.
Look at her hand.
Someone call 911.
Get off me.
Ma'am, we're doctors.
We're going to have to take you to the hospital.
I'm not going to any hospital.
You're very sick.
Pshh.
Come here.
I'm not going to any damn hospital! Stop looking at me, you ugly bat.
Mrs.
Bednevik.
How'd you know my name? Driver's license.
Can I get some water? Please.
Yep.
So, you're running a pretty high fever, and there's a serious infection in your hand.
We just want to treat you.
The quicker that we do that, the quicker you can get home.
Like I said, I make mistakes.
Loads of mistakes.
Thank you.
Again with the thank you.
Micah.
Um, I'm so sorry about that.
I was I was just I was surprised because I hadn't thought about you that way.
I mean, I had thought about you like that because you're cute, funny but you're also my boss.
Hey, should we maybe have this conversation in private? Yeah.
I was I was just going to talk to you about, uh Are you guys, like, working or something? We were going to talk about something.
Okay, no problem.
I'll just Oh.
Uh, I have to get this.
We'll talk later.
Okay.
You buttering him up so he'll pick you to assist on his triple A repair? Hmm? Well, Dr.
Bandari's on vacation, so Dr.
Barnes is heading the procedure.
Oh, no, I didn't I didn't know.
Yeah.
I mean, not that you need to butter him up.
I I think he actually likes you.
What did you want to, um, talk to me about? Yeah, um, oh Just how Cassandra's being crazy He does.
Like me.
Micah does.
Uh, do you like him? Yeah, I think I do.
But he's my boss.
Right.
That's true.
I should change.
George Morgan, 35, admitted for witnessed episode of syncope and exertional dyspnea.
Numbness, light-headedness, nausea and vomiting times one.
Uh, full syncope work-up, including serum lytes, urinalysis, an EEG and dobutamine echo.
I'm Dr.
Owens.
Any other symptoms before fainting? My head hurt.
But I don't sleep a lot, so Why is that? Just stress.
Hey.
She's looking for, uh How did you know I was here? Your office called.
I'm still your "in case of emergency.
" This is my ex-wife.
Ashley.
Are you okay? Yeah, I just passed out at work.
Not sleeping still? Mr.
Morgan, if you're really not sleeping, we should talk about ways to reduce stress There's not a way.
Anyway, thanks for coming.
Um we'll order the tests.
He won't be able to reduce stress.
Or, maybe eventually, but not right now, and I don't want him to get sick.
So maybe you should know in case it affects his treatment or what he needs.
What's going on? Well, next week will be a year since, uh, Daniel, our son, died.
We brought him here, but, well, obviously, it's a hard time.
That's really awful.
I'm so sorry.
Yeah Anyhow, I just wanted you to know in case it makes a difference for George.
Okay.
Okay, I'll bite.
What's the big news? I called your sister last night, and I told her I was sick.
Oh, wow.
That is big.
What made you change your mind? The surgery.
Something could have gone wrong, and well Yeah.
And she's coming here today.
What?! What happened to the 48-hour rule? I mean, we need time to prepare.
Batten down the hatches.
Micah, she's in a much better place.
She-she has her job.
And Oliver's a good influence.
Don't tell her that, though.
She'll break up with him.
I know, I've always been properly disapproving.
Okay.
Okay, let's see.
Oh, crap.
Not you.
Get me a new doctor.
You're crazy.
Bitch, you're calling me crazy? There is no new doctor.
I'm your doctor.
It's just you and me.
I want to get out of here.
Well, then, we have the same goal.
Can I see your hand? Were you bitten by anything? No, were you? No, but I don't have a raging bacterial infection in my hand.
I would've known if something had bit me.
Bacteria can get in, in a number of ways.
I am going to start you on an antibiotic drip Just give me some pills.
I'll take them at home.
Pills won't be strong enough.
I'll double them up.
And potentially lose your hand.
You're lying.
Mrs.
Bednevik, I'm not lying.
I'll have someone come and remove that.
Stay away from my food, piggy.
Hey.
So So, you were surprised.
Mm-hmm.
Very.
How did you not know I liked you? Because you're my boss.
I didn't I didn't go there.
Ever? When I did go there, I would try not to go there.
Okay, good.
So, then, stop trying not to go there.
I do like you.
Then let's go on a date.
But you're also my boss.
Which complicates things and it scares me, so I just, I want to think things through.
Look before leaping and all that.
Okay, no problem.
We'll hash it out over lunch.
I'm not going to stand by while you convince yourself that we shouldn't give this a try.
I'm involved now, so you know, we'll-we'll we'll talk about it together.
Sounds kind of like a date.
Whoa.
Whoa.
No.
No, definitely not a date.
I mean, that would that would be confusing, seeing as how we haven't even decided it's a good idea to go on a date.
Right.
Records room, 1:00 p.
m.
Bring your own lunch.
Which I would never say if this was a real date.
Yeah, but he's got that back thing.
Come on.
That is such a load of bunk.
Question: Is there a medical condition that flares up when the word air mattress is mentioned? Our youngest son hates to sleep on air mattresses.
And he says he's got this thing in his back.
This thing that doesn't stop him from playing flag football with all his college buddies.
Well, technically, air mattress-itis can come and go.
Ah, there you go.
Yeah.
So, what brings you here? Oh, this one is a worrywart.
I just have this cough.
It's She was having heart palpitations, and she coughed so hard she collapsed.
Yeah, well, when you put it that way.
Okay, well, you probably have a spot of pneumonia.
We'll get a chest X ray.
Just get me out of here before all the kids descend this weekend.
We're going to do our best.
You also need an EKG, okay? You single? Oh, Maggie! Like you weren't thinking it.
We have a daughter.
She's very smart, very pretty.
Oh, no, did I step in it? No, uh, as it turns out, he is single.
Newly.
From me.
Nice going.
Oh sorry, I had no idea.
It's fine; For the best.
Uh, you run the EKG, and I'll order the X ray.
Okay, I'm just gonna put these leads on you, all right? So why'd you dump her? No, I didn't.
She, uh she actually dumped me.
Whoa.
Big mistake.
No way.
I appreciate that.
Thank you.
Uh, but, uh, you know, whatever.
Relationships end, right? Until you find the one that doesn't.
Yeah.
What are you looking at? Just some old pictures of you.
Micah Mouse.
Did you hear my sister's coming? I did.
I'm excited to meet her.
Eh, approach with caution.
Like a wild animal.
Micah.
That's enough.
Listen, I have some pretty big news.
You got into the clinical trial, Mom.
The one at Mayo.
Now, they've had results.
Like, real results.
Starts in two weeks.
Whoa, hey, this is good news.
This is what we've been hoping for.
I know we were.
Um Talk to me.
I've got to be realistic.
I have a terminal disease.
And the thought of more chemo in my last months is just It might not be your last month.
I'm ready to go.
This is my life, and I'm ready to go.
Where did she go? I have no idea.
She The crazy lady disconnected her I.
V.
line and took off.
Shoot.
Call the police.
If she gets an infection from the I.
V.
, then we're liable.
And have maintenance come and clean up.
It's a mess.
So, everything okay? Mags, shh.
Let the man do his thing.
The man has done his thing.
Yes, your EKG looks great.
Oh, thank God.
What about the pneumonia? Uh, you know, it's nothing I'd be too concerned about as long as we get her on an antibiotic.
So I'm going to prescribe azithromycin.
Okay, we're going to give you your first dose here.
But I tell you what, if you don't feel significantly better in the next couple of days, come back.
No problem.
Amy will bring me back.
Our daughter.
The cute one.
You know, for what it's worth, she really seemed cold.
That doctor that dumped you.
Yeah.
She did, though, right? Which is weird because she was like that with everyone else, but with me, it was different, you know.
Really? Well, whatever, I guess I was wrong.
Special instructions on the, uh on the back.
No air mattresses.
Thank you! Hey.
You looking for an apartment? No, I'm just IM'ing with an old booty call.
Hey, do you mind clearing out of your place tonight? Roomie.
Just sleep at Micah's.
You're sleeping at Micah's? No.
I'm No.
So you decided not to date him? No, we haven't decided anything.
We're having lunch today to hash everything out.
Well, that sounds romantic.
It's not romantic.
That-that's the point.
We're deciding whether or not to be romantic.
Trust me, the kiss was very romantic.
You know, you might want to be careful of the whole boss thing at work.
It gets a little complicated.
Yeah, I'm aware.
It's why we're having lunch.
I'll leave when I know you're okay.
Ashley So, uh, your labs came back all clear.
Which means you probably just passed out because you stood up quickly and you're tired.
- So I can go? - Yeah.
Yeah, the nurse will be up with your discharge paperwork.
Just try to get some sleep, okay? I'll just take a cab.
Just let me drive you.
George! Mr.
Morgan.
Mr.
Morgan.
You all right? I got you.
Hold still.
What? Honey.
George, are you okay? I can't feel Squeeze my hand.
We've got to get you a CT.
I think you may have just had a stroke.
- A tumor? - Yes.
About the size of a golf ball on your right temporal lobe.
What does that mean? Do you take it out? We have to.
It's pressuring other vessels, and it's causing minor bleeds.
Which is why your husband Ex um, ex-husband.
Why your ex-husband had the stroke.
Okay.
There's no choice, so I'll talk to neurosurgery about prepping an O.
R.
Can you hold the elevator? Micah! Liz.
Hey, I just heard What the hell, Micah? Ow! How could you not tell me about Mom? No No, do you know what? Okay, come here.
Come on.
No! Come on, over here.
You need to calm down.
No, don't you dare tell me to calm down.
I just saw her, okay? She has she has no hair, and she's lost all of this weight.
She asked me not to tell you.
It was her thing, so I-I just I she just felt like you were doing so much better.
You know, I don't even know what that means.
It is so condescending.
Just that you got a job and you were thinking of going back to school.
Shut up, Micah.
Just shut up.
So so-so-so what, so she's so she's just going to die or something? She could.
But look, I got her into this new trial and it's a long shot, but it's still a shot at least.
Okay, so when does that start? She doesn't want to do it.
What? No, she has to do it.
Micah, you have to tell her she has to do it.
Has that ever worked with you? What are we going to do? We're going to try and convince her together.
I'm really mad at you, Mouse.
I know.
Oh, come here.
Don't call me that at work, okay? Oh Jules drives like an old lady.
I could've gotten to the car faster in this chair.
Why'd you dump him? I think he's in love with someone else.
Sorry, uh My God, I'm sorry.
No, don't be.
That's okay.
You know, Jules and I broke up once.
And I had to go on antidepressants, and then I realized I just had to suck up my pride and apologize and get her back.
You know, that's just what worked for us.
Thank you for everything.
You okay? I'm fine.
Emily.
Hey.
Hi.
Uh, black, one sugar, and an extra sweet skinny vanilla latte please.
Oh, no vanilla.
Over the sweet thing.
Um, look, I'm sorry that I was weird earlier, okay? About you and Micah.
You can date whoever you want.
Just, obviously, I'm dealing with this whole work relationship breakup thing.
So, you know, that's where I was coming from.
Micah and I are different, though.
We got to know each other first.
Ouch.
Just saying Yeah, it's true, you know, it's very true.
Also, you were you were right about Cassandra.
She's not even phased by this whole breakup thing at all.
She's proud you know that.
Wow.
First you're over vanilla lattes, and now you're trying to convince me that Cassandra's not that bad, huh? I'll take care of it.
Thanks.
Yeah.
And I also I just think maybe the reason I reacted the way I just the idea of you dating somebody for real is is kind of weird.
I get it.
You're used to having me around, and that would change.
What if I don't want things to change? They have to.
Why? I dated Cassandra, nothing changed.
You broke up.
Somebody help! Help! What do we got here? You got pulse? No.
Code blue, we need help out here! We were just driving and she passed out.
Help her, please.
Help her.
Okay, okay.
We need help! Code blue, we need help out here.
Oh, God.
Oh, God, Maggie.
We're gonna lift her on three, okay? On me, one, two, three, lift.
What's happening? We need a crash cart now! What's happening? Somebody, please.
She most likely had a heart attack.
We're going to try and bring her back, okay? Clear! Clear! Will, she's been down 25 minutes.
Time of death: 11:32.
I can do it by myself! Mrs.
Bednevik, please Would you stop! Calm down.
I know the way.
Mom, calm down.
Mrs.
Bednevik, good.
This is all your fault.
Mom! What is wrong with you? Stop it right now.
I'm so sorry about my mother.
I don't know what's wrong with her.
This way.
Walk, Mom.
She's one of those crazy hoarder types.
Really? Oh, my God.
Yeah.
We have to call the Department of Health.
You can smell the place a block away.
Just gross.
I'm so embarrassed, I don't know what to say.
I'm trying, Diana.
I told you, I'm trying.
It's okay.
We have to treat you.
I can see that the infection on your hand's gotten much worse.
We're going to have to drain it surgically.
Please, just let me go home.
You're not going home.
Period.
What? Mom, your house was declared a health hazard.
I hadn't been there in maybe a year and a half.
I tried to clear it out a few times before I finally just gave up.
Diana, listen, you have to let me get my cats.
Mom, the police called animal control and the health department.
No, no Mrs.
Bednevik.
Calm down, Mom.
You got them taken away! Don't you touch me! She was after me all the time.
Mom! I knew it.
I knew it.
Let me go! Mom We need help in here.
Code gray.
I want my cats! What's a code gray? Let me go! It's a psych takedown.
We'll keep her here 14 days.
It should give you time to, um, find a place.
No! Yeah, it's totally creepy.
It shouldn't even be legal.
Stuff that's, like, banned in Europe.
What's banned in Europe? Oh, the chemicals that we put in hair dye.
It was practically poisoning me, breathing it in every day.
That's why I had to leave the salon.
What? What? I saw that.
What was that? Honey No, I hate when you guys give looks about me.
Liz! Just calm down.
No, stop telling me to calm down.
You know what? Fine.
Fine.
I will go back to the salon, and I will get cancer.
Are you happy? I'm sorry.
I didn't It's okay.
Okay, look.
We're all a little emotional right now.
You, me, Liz.
We know how tired you are.
I'm not tired.
Raising you kids alone, I was tired.
This is not tired.
I want to leave the hospital.
I want to spend time with my children Mom, stop.
Oh, my God, this is so screwed up.
This is so screwed up that I have to tell you like this, this way.
This is so screwed up.
What? No, this is so screwed up.
I'm pregnant.
What? That is why I left the stupid salon.
Not because I can't keep a job, like you guys think.
Don't judge me.
Stop.
We're not.
But Is it Oliver's? Does he know? Yeah, and he doesn't care, okay? He told me to get rid of it, and I was going to, but when I got there, I just I couldn't do it.
How far along are you? Um, I think, like, 11 weeks.
I-I mean, I haven't seen a doctor.
Okay, look, I'll make you an appointment.
Ashley.
You know we have a waiting room? When we brought Daniel in, we sat in there, so Is there anything that I can get you? I'm usually not like this.
It's just being here and seeing George and and the way he blames me.
I just went to the laundry room.
Daniel was playing with these cars, so I just thought I'd put the clothes in.
The wheel came off, and he swallowed You okay? Yeah.
Just letting the stress of my sister, my pregnant sister, drain from my body.
No, no, no.
Lying down looks nice.
I have the saddest case.
Your sister's pregnant? Apparently.
Hey, thank God this isn't a first date.
Family drama's not great first date material.
Everybody's got it.
You don't talk about yours.
True.
Okay.
My mom is complicated.
Sometimes she's a train wreck, sometimes she's a whirlwind.
She's been through a lot of phases and a lot of men.
What about your dad? I've only met him once.
Um, my mom was, uh, the other woman.
Pretty sordid, huh? My mom is the queen of mistakes.
She just, she dives headlong into everything.
Doesn't look before she leaps Nope.
And it always ends terribly.
Which is why I am the opposite.
I think things through.
I move at a glacial pace, and then, when I actually do fall for someone, I latch onto them like a barnacle that you can't pry off.
You trying to scare me? Is it working? No.
Thanks for telling me about your mom.
I like talking to you.
Not just talking, I hope.
Uh-uh.
Not just talking.
All right, we got to Let's figure this out.
Okay.
Worst case scenario: We date, and then one of us probably you is just a huge douche bag.
And then then we have to work together after that and it blows.
'Cause you don't pick me for procedures because you're angry.
No, no.
I would never do that.
Doesn't even matter how big of a douche bag you were.
Okay, or it's great, but then every time you choose me for something, people think I'm getting special treatment.
Well, who cares what other people think? Look, it's true, a lot could go wrong, but I also think a lot could go pretty right.
Don't you? Yeah, I do.
So, let's take a leap.
I want to take you out on a real date.
How could you follow up the records room? You just leave that to me.
You in? I got to tell you, I'm confused.
So now, all of the sudden, you want to talk? It's about Maggie.
The reason she died.
I was going back over everything in my mind, to see if we missed something, and I realized she told me she was on antidepressants once.
Which wasn't in her chart.
Antidepressants, you mean long QT? Did you check the EKG? I didn't want to do it out there.
Oh, God.
The meds I prescribed It's so hard to catch.
Even cardiologists miss it.
I gave her a fatal arrhythmia.
It was a mistake.
Yeah yeah, you know, I mean, that's what I'll tell her wife, right? I'm sorry, I made a mistake.
No don't tell anyone.
Look, the antidepressant thing isn't in the chart.
The EKG looks normal.
No one will catch it.
What are you talking about? It'll be on your record forever.
It'll follow you to every interview and every hospital for the rest of your career.
And it won't bring her back.
I don't know why it took me so long to see that my mom was so sick.
I think it was just so hard to accept.
Because of how she used to be and how quickly, you know, things changed.
What do you mean, how how quickly? It started about seven years ago.
I went to college, so I bought her this cat.
Figured it'd be good to have another heartbeat in the house, but then I came home for Christmas, and there were seven of them.
No joke.
And then the hoarding began.
Um, was this her first cat? Mm-hmm.
Need toxo screens on Mrs.
Bednevik's, uh, blood samples, please? Has he chosen his, uh, assistant? Yeah, he's about to do it now.
Okay, rumor has it one of you is assisting on the triple A repair.
Dr.
Kopelson.
I'll see you in the O.
R.
What are you doing? Oh, relax, I'm not actually pregnant.
Oh I knew it.
I knew it! Yeah, well, so what? So I lied.
What were you thinking? Um, I was thinking that I don't want our mother to die.
Look, I want her to do the trial, too Yeah, well, you heard her.
She won't.
Unless something changed, she won't.
And and this way, she has something to live for.
No, you know that it's true.
And and once she's in there and started, then-then, uh I'll lose the baby or whatever.
But it won't matter because she'll already be in that stupid trial.
Liz, we can't.
She's going to die, Micah.
If we don't do this, she's going to die.
Yes, yes, I definitely felt that, too.
Okay.
Can we stop the torture? I just want to make sure, you know, everywhere Will, his reflexes are fine.
You've checked and double-checked.
Just wanted to make sure you were okay.
Come here, babe.
What's wrong? Come here.
Is this about the guest list? What? I-I just had brain surgery.
It's not important in the scheme of things.
We'll spend more money.
So what? It's our wedding.
We're getting married in three months.
How is it possible that he lost the last four years? Well, there's just so much that we don't know about the brain.
A lesion to the right-frontal temporal lobe can affect memory.
You have to tell him about Daniel.
Imagine him finding out from a stranger.
I just I don't want you to regret it and then feel even more guilty.
But you saw him in there.
He loves me again.
And the minute I tell him, that'll go away.
Again.
It's a pretty awful thing to admit to.
I know, but she'll feel worse if she doesn't tell him.
Hey, looks great.
Yeah, it's 'cause it's real human hair.
It's expensive.
Stole it from the salon.
So, I, uh, changed my mind about the trial.
Got to try and see the grandkid, right? Yeah, I think that's a good decision.
Have you seen Ashley? Where is she? She needed some time.
Why? George, we have some difficult news.
Your surgery resulted in a memory lapse.
What? It's 2013.
So, we're married, then? If we're married, where is she? George, you're you're divorced.
What? No.
Why? Ashley, what happened? I don't understand.
We had a son.
His name was Daniel.
And when he was two years old, I left the room and he choked on a toy.
And I am so sorry.
Are you okay? What? Living with that.
You never asked me that before.
You just blamed me.
I'm sorry.
I don't remember our son, Ashley.
But I remember how much I love you.
I don't know if I'd be able to do that.
You would.
I know you.
Trust me.
Labs on the hoarder.
Thank you.
See you.
Yeah.
How you feeling? Lousy.
Mom, please.
What? I am.
Being shipped off to that nuthouse.
Maybe not.
You said that the hoarding and the personality change didn't start until after she got the cat, so I ran a blood test.
You have a virus called toxoplasmosis.
It's an infection spread by cat feces.
Most people don't react to it.
But in rare cases, it can cause schizophreniform personality disorder.
What? We can treat this.
You're going to need therapy, and it's going to be hard work, but you'll get back to the person that you were.
So it wasn't my fault.
No.
Well, I'm feeling kind of bad about you right now.
Want to throw some water on me or something? I'll pass, but I appreciate the offer.
Hey I wanted to talk to you about something.
Yeah.
Oh, Emily, uh, this is my sister Liz.
Hi.
Uh it's uh, congratulations.
Yeah, thanks.
Okay, I'll meet you in the cafeteria.
What's up? Um this might be a dumb question, but the-the triple A repair.
Did you not pick me because of the date? No, you said you didn't want special treatment.
Would it have been special treatment? Or would you have picked me, if not for all the other stuff going on? Probably would have picked you.
Okay, so I screwed up, and I overcorrected.
I'm not going to let it affect me in the future.
I promise.
It's-it's my career, and I don't want to make a mistake.
Hey, me, neither.
Which is why I'm not going to let you back out.
Listen, I need to go get Liz before she burns the hospital down.
Julia? I I spoke with the hospital administration, and I wanted to be the one to tell you.
Maggie had a, uh, heart condition called long QT.
Basically, after every beat, the heart has to reset itself "repolarize" is what we call it and with long QT, um, that happens slower.
So, that's why she died? No.
Um Maggie died, uh, because I didn't I didn't realize that she had it.
It's very rare, and it's hard to see on the EKG.
And, um, the medication that I prescribed for her, azithromycin, actually lengthens the Q even more.
And it causes the, um, heart to short-circuit.
I'm uh, I'm so sorry.
And like I said, it's rare and, um very hard to see, but I feel like, you know, that I should've uh, seen it.
I, uh the children are coming.
I have to get home to the children.
Hey.
Are you okay? It's awful, Will, but it it happens.
But you admitted to it.
And that was really brave.
I told her because of you.
It's the way you see me.
This guy who does the right thing.
And I want to be that guy.
It's who you are.
It's who I am when I'm with you.
You're over him.
He's just a friend.
I should go.
Tyra's sleeping out, so I'll finally get some peace and quiet.
Yeah Did you, um, decide what you're doing with Micah? Make a decision? So confused.
Me, too.
I'm confused about you, actually.
And I know, it's it's awful timing.
It's bad timing.
It's like, the moment you get over me, I start to think that maybe there's something that could Yeah Really bad timing.
What was the moment that, uh, you got over me? There had to have been a moment, right? What did I do? You ran after Cassandra when I got that research position.
And I realized that I wanted to be chosen.
Wow.
What? That is actually why she broke up with me.
She wanted me to she wanted me to choose between you and her, and I couldn't.
She said that meant I chose you.
She was right.
Emily, I did.
I should go.
The key to avoiding mistakes is to step away from the moment, the emotion, to take a beat first and think things through.
'Cause if you don't think thing through, you're screwed.
